Don't you think it's funny cause actual canon gay characters in BL manga will say "I love you" but only the shounen bromance can spew out some of the most romantic shit akin to a 19th century poet writing a letter expressing his surpressed love for his lover 😭.....
Genuniely can't tell if it's bait or not, but I'm going to treat this ask seriously anyway.
Here, have some examples of beautiful and poetic expressions of love in BL media!
I'm going to start with my favourite murder husbands, Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu from Word of Honor/Faraway Wanderers!
This happens in episode nine, less than one third into the story- it's that early, they've known each other for like a week and are already able to tell they're meant to be. They've made their decision to be together, and over the course of the story:
They defend each other multiple times and fight side by side in multiple episodes, sometimes protecting their adopted kid/mentee Chengling as well
Zhou Zishu is willing to go against the whole martial arts society for his boyfriend. With zero hesistation, might I add.
They both know the other has done horrible things (lots of murder on both sides here) and that's not only okay, it's a big part of why they're soulmates and get each other so well!
Zhou Zishu is slowly dying (poisoned nails in his chest, long story) and Wen Kexing can and will risk his life to save him. Don't worry, they get a happy ending both in the show and the novel even if the show's last episode is behind a paywall and Netflix didn't even include it for some reason?
But enough about them, let's move on to the immortal fantasy genre boyfriends Hua Cheng and Xie Lian from Heaven Official's Blessing!

Please note how Hua Cheng is ready to accept Xie Lian in whatever state he's currently in- as a god, a fallen outcast, even grieving and angry and at his absolute lowest. He's stood by Xie Lian in his worst moments, even if at the time Xie Lian had no idea it was him.
Hua Cheng has loved Xie Lian for 800 years, ever since he was a boy Xie Lian saved from falling to his death during a procession.
Xie Lian became a god, then fell due to horrible circumstances, almost committed a war crime against another nation that destroyed his country, spend 800 years wandering the mortal realm as a poor cultivator with his powers greatly reduced, and eventually ascended to become a god again. Throughout it all, Hua Cheng loved him and did his best to help him and then find him.
They're both adorable and the definition of a power couple once they're reunited- no spoilers, but they eventually fight an incredibly powerful god side by side and win & the last scene in the story is them reuniting for good since there's no more obstacles to their immortal love.
Let's move on to my favourite Japanese BL, Our Dining Table (also available as a series that came out semi-recently, but the examples below are from the manga.)

Yutaka is a lonely salesman who meets Minoru, a restaurant worker and his much younger brother Tane grieving the death of their mother.

Yutaka and Minoru hit it off by bonding through food they cook and share. The series is incredibly heartwarming, and as seen above Yutaka becomes a much happier person thanks to both his new relationship and big brother-like bond with little Tane.

As a little bonus, the whole found family together!
This post can't be complete without Golden Stage (or Golden Terrace, as the English official translation calls it).

Fu Shen and Yan Xiaohan aren't even in love at this point! This is at the beginning of the story, when their marriage has just been arranged by the emperor and they're still bitter rivals.
Yan Xiaohan is already protective of his future husband- later on, he also builds him a mansion meant to accommodate his disability (nerve damage in both legs, which requires a wheelchair and/or crutches). They're both incredibly powerful military generals, and the emperor was an idiot thinking an arranged marriage would humiliate them.
Of course they fall in love, of course they're a power couple, of course they send each other letters through trained geese when they're separated during the war, of course they run to each other as fast as they can across a wide cold river when they're finally reunited! Of course they're important to me!
....Aaand how about some Wangxian to wrap up this post? They need no introduction, an absolutely wonderful and complex relationship in a complex fantasy/intrigue story available in several forms - the books, the animated series (as seen above), the live action series, the audio drama, there's so much!
Some of their most beautiful moments:
Lan Wangji writing a song for Wei Wuxian and naming it Wangxian. Years after it's composed, Wei Wuxian plays it and LWJ is able to recognise him even in a different body.
LWJ begs WWX to come with him to Cloud Recesses, to safety, after WWX makes himself an enemy of the whole cultivation world for protecting innocent people.
They confront the final villain together, and work together to expose his crimes. This is also when their final love confession happens, and it's hilarious- in front of everyone's salad, WWX declares he also wanted to sleep with LWJ.
Despite censorship, the animated series was still able to allude to their wedding, showing them in red wedding robes (unfortunately can't find a gif rn)
Respectfully, if you genuinely think BL doesn't have beautiful love confessions and displays of romance, you need to find better BL.

Old QL Game
Rules: Think about the oldest BLs you've ever watched. They have to have been released prior to 2020. Now name 5 - 10 iconic scenes that you cannot forget.
(I sure hope I can find GIFs for these, otherwise I'll be using shitty screencaps from my old posts!)
I have been tagged by thee fabulous @bengiyo for this, and let me take a moment to acknowledge that I have been TOTALLY TERRIBLE with tag games this past school year/fiscal year/however you measure time, so to all who have tagged me recently in games, APOLOGIES! I feel compelled to do this one, since so many pre-2020 shows live in my brain rot basement.
I think about so many old Asian QL shows and movies. I've been doing my best to keep up with what's airing lately, but with many big studios generally prioritizing online engagement over show quality -- man, I've had a hard time sticking with a series these past couple months. Even though I'm still a new-ish convert to QLs, I've watched so much old stuff from Thailand through my Old GMMTV Challenge, along with my OG Japanese and Korean beloved shows, so here are some newly nostalgic memories from me.
The Love of Siam (2007): Ying's Reaction
When the Catholic-themed series Ticket to Heaven was announced during one of GMMTV's series previews last year, my mind immediately jumped to The Love of Siam, the seminal queer film that arguably serves as a cultural precursor to the rise of the Thai QL genre seven years after its airing. I hoped, and still hope, that Ticket to Heaven will recall that the thematic homophobia the main characters, Mew and Tong, experienced in The Love of Siam, was in part derived from Tong's family's Catholicism. I was thinking, at the time of Ticket's announcement, about a scene I love so dearly in The Love of Siam: when Tong's friend, Ying, cries over the fate of Mew and Tong not being able to have a relationship due to Tong's family intervening and keeping Tong from Mew.
As with so many seminal scenes in QLs, Ying crying for her friends took place on a rooftop. While the QL rooftop scenes that stick with me usually focus on the main same-sex characters, Ying's pain over her friends not being able to experience happiness together -- queer happiness -- has always stuck with me as a beautiful way for this film to address acceptance. I wrote back in 2023 that The Love of Siam, as a seminal queer Thai film, had a whiff of acceptance about it, all while the ending was particularly sad (and notable queer QL auteurs like New Siwaj and Aof Noppharnach have addressed TLOS's themes heavily in their work since the film's airing). Ying, while starting the film with having a crush on Tong, ends up becoming an emotional ally, and I think seeing that in an pre-QL setting is so important as compared to how we see allyship in shows nowadays.
Love Sick (2014): OG HOSES
I had already seen a few Thai BLs by the time I got to watching the OG 2014 and 2015 Love Sick as part of my OGMMTVC project. I mean! When I saw the hose and the suds, I was like -- oh shit, ICONS. These dudes literally created the STANDARD for soap and water in Thai QLs with this scene. So fun and lovable. OG Phun and Noh FOREVER.
Make It Right (2016): OG I LIKE ALL GENDERS
As with Love Sick and the suds, I went out of chronological order when I first started dabbling in Thai QLs -- so to see this iconic dialogue only after Pat uttered it in Bad Buddy first, before seeing King Ohm Pawat say it first as Frame in 2016's Make It Right, well, I yelped!
For me, these two scenes from Love Sick and MIR remind me of a major reason as to why I started the OGMMTVC: that so many shows that are airing or have aired recently refer back to this seminal time of the genre's birth nearly 10 years ago. I love digging into all these references, so to see the original sources of the references by actually watching the old shows thoroughly has been a joy. (I NEED AN MIR REWATCH.)
Love By Chance (2018): Pete Trying to Protect Ae

This scene reminds me of why the early years of Thai QLs were so incredibly exciting. From 2016's SOTUS, which had Kongpob taking a "don't say gay" stance with Arthit, we come to 2018's Love By Chance, where Pete is slightly puzzled by Ae's very eager attraction to him, and tries to warn Ae of what Ae's future may be like as an out queer man.
I adored this scene. Saint Suppapong has been such an advocate for the progression of QLs since he first started acting in them (despite my maaaajor quibbles with the editing of Idol Factory shows, they have to be so long why?!), and for Saint to take on this dialogue as Pete so boldly sticks with me every time I think of this show. As messy as this show ultimately was, LBC handled some major queer themes really well vis à vis AePete -- and they were handled well, I think, specifically because of the incredible acting of Saint and Perth Tanapon.
What Did You Eat Yesterday?/Kinou Nani Tabeta? (2019): Kenji's Gratefulness
The 2019 first season of What Did You Eat Yesterday?/Kinou Nani Tabeta? was my first-ever QL. And it remains the total gold standard for me for QLs by way of acting, writing, emotional balance, and narrative strength. Generally speaking, this show knows exactly what it's doing with every word and every emotion shown by its two phenomenal main actors, Nishijima Hidetoshi and Uchino Seiyou.
I've been re-reading the translated manga recently, heavily awaiting the release of volume 23, when a certain event will occur. So of course, at the same time, I've been thinking about the show, and how incredibly well Uchino Seiyou captured the free-wheeling, doting boyfriend to Shiro, the inimitable Kenji.
In this scene, Kenji and Shiro are sitting in a cafe, after much coaxing by Kenji to share a coffee and pastry with the usually stodgy (and cheap) Shiro. Shiro indulges Kenji, and Kenji knows that it's a gentle sacrifice that Shiro is making, as at the time of the point of this series, Shiro is still mostly closeted, and doesn't feel comfortable with public dating.
Kenji is so grateful. And I think in this scene, Uchino captures the silent appreciation that Kenji has for Shiro just magnificently. These are two actors that won't kiss in the series, as Shiro and Kenji are not shown doing so in the mainstream manga publication. So Uchino and Nishijima have to show Kenji's and Shiro's devotion much more similarly to the ways that are depicted in the manga. And with Kenji's silent headshake and wistful smile, Uchino captures Kenji's feelings completely. A magnificent moment.
I knew I'd repeat some of @bengiyo's referenced shows -- he's an original influential architect of the OGMMTVC project. Thank you for tagging me, friend.

THE SIGN EPISODE 8 – WANWISA'S WARNING
We've been told before in The Sign that the 15th day of the 11th waxing moon is a date that is especially significant and powerful for the nagas.
The last day of the Buddhist Rains Retreat (also called Buddhist Lent by some), this date (Wan Ok Phansa) is mentioned by nagini Wansarut to Phaya's previous garuda incarnation at Ep.8 [3/4] 8.37 as the date when the Buddha returned to the human world "from the second heaven where Indra dwells", and the nagas and naginis breathed out fireballs in his honor.
And this is why the Naga Fireball Festival is also held around the time of Wan Ok Phansa.
Separately, at Ep.3 [3/4] 12.26 (when Tharn and Phaya explore the Dinphiang Cave) Sand's voiceover also recounts the legend of the naga princess who is compelled to return to her watery homeland underground on the date of Wan Ok Phansa (the 15th day of the 11th waxing moon, or the last day of Buddhist Lent), and loses her human lover in the process.
So Chalothorn must have been biding his time for this particularly auspicious date to come around, when he would finally be empowered to take back his betrothed nagini princess, and break the connection once and for all between garuda Phaya and naga Tharn/Wansarut (and is the gist of Wansarut's golden nagini sister Wanwisa's warning).
Chalothorn must have been attempting to kill Phaya from early on in order to prevent him from obstructing the greater scheme of reclaiming Wansarut/Tharn from the reincarnation cycle and reinstating his nagini's semi-divine status, away from the garuda.
But of course all attempts on Phaya's life by Chalothorn were futile, as he was under the protection of Tharn's nagini-soul amulet (that the Thai subtitles also call a naga gem, akin to Wansarut's heart) – the physical embodiment of Wansarut's dying vow to protect her beloved garuda throughout all future reincarnations:
Wansarut's vow here also reveals the supernatural impetus behind all the times Tharn saved Phaya's life earlier, e.g., during the Ep.1 mock-hostage rescue and open water challenge, the encounter with the masked Molotov knife-man in Ep.4, and the battle with the tattooed serial killer in Ep.5. 😢
It's consistently been the bigger, macho Phaya being saved by the smaller, slighter Tharn/Wansarut. And this is just one of the many ways that The Sign has been bucking expectations of a Thai BL series. 🤩 But come the next Wan Ok Phansa it will be time for Phaya to prove his worth in return, and battle to save his fated lover Tharn/Wansarut from the clutches of the possessive naga Chalothorn instead. 😔

Hi....If you don't mind, can I ask, what are your top 10 (or top 7) favorite BL media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series)? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before......Thanks....
Hi! Thank you for your message 💖
I like works that are darker, explicit, and deal with some sort of trauma and BDSM relationship. My favorite trope is puppy top/tsundere bottom so you will find that in most of these works as well.

Ten Count
by Rihito Takarai, manga,tw: dubcon, mentall illness(OCD), 6 volumes + audio drama, upcoming anime (2023?)
This is the first explicit yaoi I read. The main couple are in a BDSM relationship. It's very psychological and deals with sexual trauma and sexual liberation.
The Pawn's Revenge
by EVY, manwha, crime, tw: sex trafficking, violence

Although the story's setting is dark the main couple are very loving as they form a strong bond when they become accomplices in crimes. I also love how the bottom in this story is quite strong although he has a dark past.
Husky and his white cat Shizun/2ha
by Meatbun doesn't eat meat, danmei, fantasy, tw: noncon, student-teacher relationship, +5 volumes, +manhua&audio drama

My favorite danmei and my all time favorite BL! It has equal parts of smut and angst, which I personally love. The main character has done great sins in his life and he gets transmigrated to get a fresh start. 2ha deals with the guilt, forgiveness, shame, and unconditional love.
Lullaby of the dawn
by Ichiko Yuna, manga, fantasy, 3/4 volumes
Amazing wholesome fantasy romance with a puppy top and a shy tsundere bottom.
Painter of the night
by ByeonDuck, Manwha, Historical, tw: noncon/dubcon.
Painter of the night has a beautiful art style that captures emotions and eroticsm very well. The work also deals with trauma, homophobia, and sexual freedom.
ENNEAD
by Mojito, Manwha, Historical, tw: noncon

This is a mythological retelling set in Ancient Egypt. It is a harem-type drama with a slowburn between a puppy top and an arrogant bottom.
Twittering Birds Never Fly
by Kou Yoneda, Manga, Yakuza. Tw: csa, 7+ volumes +anime

This work also deals with trauma (csa) and how the main couple deals with it as they entangle in a complicated relationship with each other. It's both very bittersweet and psychological.
In These Words
by GuiltPleasure, manga, crime, tw: noncon, gore, +4 volumes+side stories/prequels

This work is not for everyone, it is so far the most dark and explicit work I've read. I love it as someone who's into Hannibal, horror, crime, and dark romance. The storytelling and art style are top notch.
Heaven official's blessing/Tian Guan Ci Fu
by MXTX, danmei, fantasy, 8 volumes, + manhua, audio drama and donghua.
Although I prefer darker and smuttier works, I absolutely love Tgcf which has a very sweet friends-to-lovers slowburn. Tgcf has a vast world building and in-depth character study. You could say it also deals with sexual repression. I love how the main couple protects each other throughout the story.
Little Mushroom
by Shisi, danmei, post-apocalyptic, 2 volumes, +manhua&audio drama

This is a great scifi story and the BL part of it is a bonus! The main couple represent opposites sides of the story symbolically, which I really love.

My weekly roundup CW 12
Well, I watch a lot during the week, as you all might know. I really want to write a little bit more about the stuff I watch, but time and work kind of get in my creative way. So I try to write down my thoughts after watching stuff to create a little weekly ranking on my, most of the times, quiet sundays (and because I love lists and this is a good excuse for me to create a new OneNote journal!).
Jack o'Frost was on hiatus this week, so it didn't make it on this week's list.
↑ 1. Our Dating Sim (Episode 5+6)
Oh my God! What a development! Now they are a couple and I am in seventh heaven with them. Eddy takes every opportunity to show Ian that he really really likes him and at the end of the 5th episode he is rewarded and so are we, with one of the best k-bl kisses there is. And the sixth episode has been pure fluff, right up to the last minute. I enjoyed every second of it, Eddy trying to ask Ian out, playful Ian liking to torture Eddy a bit, them both holding hands, that incredibly sweet scene where Eddy teases Ian that he knows very well that Ian has been watching him all along when he had his eyes closed then tells him I'll close my eyes now, do what you want and Ian just kisses him, jealous Eddy and that cute scene on the roof…. All except that darn text message…I'm dreading the next episode. But incredibly strong two episodes this week. It was definitely my favorite watch this week!
↑ 2. Unintentional Love Story (Episodes 3+4)
Won Young, you are cute, but sometimes you can't get a hint! Tae Joon tries to tell you that he likes you, and as we've already seen, he's a bit… socially cool and distant, and then you sit there and don't understand that he's talking about you, whom he likes. But at least you're cute and make Tae Joon smile. The show is so good. And you can tell that Won Young is starting to doubt if what he's doing is really right, because he's also starting to develop feelings. Please clear that up in a good way. I'm so scared of the drama yet to come. It's going to break my heart to see Tae Joon rebuild his wall that he's been clinging to for so long and in which he built a small passage for Won Young. Just thinking about it makes me want to cry. I hope for a happy ending, but I'm really afraid that it will be a hard road until then.
↓ 3. Chains Of Heart (Episode 6)
Mr. Lue's dream. The wish that Ken touches him, that he accepts him as he is, that he loves him and holds him tight…I think that was one of the best scenes of the series so far. Especially the tears in his eyes at the end. And Mr. Lue's attempt to convince Ken to give him a chance, to allow him to protect and love Ken. My poor Mr. Lue heart really had to suffer this week. The most disturbing scene for me was our one-eyed man and how he danced with the woman…I just find him unsettling. And I was most confused after the scene between Mr. Lue and Don. It felt like the two knew each other or Don knew more than others. As always a wonderful series, great settings and atmosphere and I'm looking forward to next week.
↓ 4. A Shoulder To Cry On (Episode 3+4)
Okay, the "I like you" scene in the gym was a bit too much for me, but I can understand Dayeol so well. I would have been super embarrassed by this whole scene and in such cases you just sometimes react headless, muddle your thoughts and then it just comes out something like that. That he avoided Taehyun afterwards, I can also fully understand, but it was nice to see that he does not avoid him, but continues to seek his presence. And in the end we just see pure self-protection. We see an insecure Dayeol, who tries to push the other away by hurting, redirecting his own pain, so to speak. Heartbreaking start to the fourth episode. Those familiar with the webcomic knew what to expect. The backstory is indeed not pretty. It is cruel and sad and a little bit you can understand why Taehuyn shut down his emotions. The trauma is strong in him. So it makes me all the more happy that the two are getting closer and Taehyun is actually learning to open up and talk about his past. And Dayeaol, a sweetheart as he is, is probably the first person ever to tell him that it's not his fault and that plus the look on Taehyun's face broke my heart. Good episode!
→ 5. The Promise (Episode 5)
Somehow the feeling didn't quite come this week. Phu's approach was a bit too daring for someone who left his best friend behind because he was in love with him and didn't know how to deal with the feelings. The fight at the end was also a bit too contrived. Before, Nan was totally happy that Phu was back and didn't question anything and then because of that one lie, he turns up and throws things around like I never want to see you again. He's hurt, no question, but those were extreme emotional leaps. Especially considering the beginning of the episode and how touchy Nan was there. And no, I wasn't yelling at my screen that they should just kiss already. Not three times at least…just two.
→ 6. Bed Friend (Episode 6)
Aw King…I feel a little sorry for him. He tries to show Uea that he likes him a bit more than just FWB, and then he goes to the arranged match. I mean, I almost understand. King needs some confirmation too. Uea's wall makes it hard for himself to show King that he's looking forward to the trip, that he's also already investing more emotion than just FWB. And of course he builds up his walls again afterwards. Because he just realized that King can hurt him, that he's developed feelings and that's something he doesn't want to do. Because if he's vulnerable, then people will hurt him, that's his experience. So he pulls back again. He would just have to open his mouth and tell King that he wants him and King would be the happiest man on the planet and carry Uea through life on his hands. And Krit…that nasty m*therf*cker! I can't stand him and hope he just disappears along with Uea's mother. And the outlook for the next episode looks exhilarating...damn.
→ 7. A Boss And A Babe (Episode 4)
Cher is jealous and I love it! We get to know part of his backstory and understand why he doesn't like going back to his hometown. The ignorance of some people is terrible and I feel sorry for Cher that he had to lose his best friend/first unrequited love that way. He seems all the more confused that he is slowly but surely developing such feelings for Gun. I'm curious to see what happens next when Cher is no longer employed there as an intern. For my taste there was too little ThiZo this week, I hope that changes again next week.
↑ 8. Tin Tem Jai (Episode 4)
I have no idea how old Tin is supposed to be. He's looking for his major in college, but quite often behaves like a stubborn little kid. And Park knows exactly which switches to flip to get what he wants. I don't like that so much. And there's the sweet boy again, who is quite enraptured by our Tin, and of course is all the more delighted that fate has brought them together again. And of course, he's a senior at the university and flirts wildly. And Tin seems to like it. Kana is a sweetheart. He could have hugged Pao a little longer, but his "I'm always here for you" line could have been spared.
↑ 9. PastSenger (Episode 3)
It was clear that Baiwan would fall in love with Kiao and it was also clear that Frong would not leave her alone. There were very sweet moments between Bamee and Kiao. The fact that Baiwan can tell Bamee so openly about her crush on Kiao and Bamee suffers silently hurt a bit. At least the episode was better than the previous ones, but I'm not quite convinced yet.
↓ 10. All The Liquors (Episode 7+8/Final)
Yeah, I don't know, the series really didn't excite me. Even the last episodes couldn't help. The start was good, I liked the first episodes and just thought it goes in a slightly different direction. In the end, however, Han Ji Yu has not necessarily become happy without alcohol, but has converted the previously abstinent chef to alcohol and I sit here and ask myself what the message of this series should be. Should we all drink more alcohol to be sociable? Can we only be sociable and outgoing if we also drink alcohol? I manage to be sociable without alcohol with people I know and like, despite my shyness. So yeah, I didn't think it was particularly good, and the kisses were numerous for a Korean series, but they could have easily just been left out. No one wants to see two dead fish kiss...

Ten Characters, Ten Fandoms, Ten Tags (except it's one tag bc I hate mass tagging, makes it feel less special lol)
Thanks for tagging me @chouchinobake ! Part of the reason I stay on Tumblr is how different and I suppose intimate (?) it feels to be on here. The whump community in general is such a home to me, but the oddity of this platform gives me a chance to do different things that I'd never be able to do on my Twitter/Instagram.
In any case, it just looks like I'm supposed to list ten characters from different fandoms and why I like them, so here goes. I'm going to limit it to anime, since there are way too many in manga/live action, and, as an organized person, I must restrain myself:
Ash Lynx [Banana Fish]: I've seen basically every BL anime that exists, and yet out of all the boys I've loved from those (Mafuyu didn't make it to the list but he is ONE OF THEM), no one quite stands out to me the way that Ash does. He was such a fresh personality to get into, and I found myself fascinated by the complexities of his character. One thing about Banana Fish in general that I enjoyed was the lack of "need" for it to go through as a BL, if that makes sense. It was an action/gang drama first and a love story second. I am always most attached to characters that I feel like I could never accurately write if I tried, since it gives me great respect for the author. Ash being violent but not uncaring, angry at the world and yet still a victim to it, plagued by recurring trauma (the amount of predatory gay men in BF is absolutely insane btw LMAO I love that Dino has just stocked his gang with gay rapists 😂) and yet still a very dangerous character. It's a tragedy that it ended the way it did, but I guess that's part of why he sticks with me so much. Definitely #1 saddest of the stories I've loved.
The way he has such fondness for Eiji without the author feeling like they needed to actually put them in a confirmed relationship was just so natural to me. Of course, I needed fanfics to help my crumbling heart after the ending, way back when I first watched it, but I always valued that about Banana Fish. I just fucking wish Ash made it back to Eiji for a hug, dammit. The one thing I hated in the show was the lack of hurt/comfort balance. There was so little comfort that it felt like sometimes the emotional aspect was ignored in favor of the action, and that drove me batty. Regardless, one of the favorites for sure.
Xie Lian [Heaven's Official Blessing]: MY SWEET BABU. Holy fuck, I didn't know whether to list Mafuyu here or Xie, because they're both somewhat the same breed of SOFT, MUST PROTECT to me, but Xie won out, since I have to have at least one bandaged boy on the list in the absence of Dazai. Words cannot express the amount of sheer devotion I have to this CREATURE. This is one of those stand-out shows that became a comfort anime for me. The soft-voiced Chinese VAs for Xie and Hua Cheng cause physical reactions lmao. It's a rare softie romance for my favorites.
There are some characters that are so fucking precious to me that somehow my sadist nature drains away, and I actually do not want to see them hurt. This is one of the very, very few. Nobody touch Xie Lian. I will murder you.
Yozo Oba [No Longer Human]: Written by the one and only Dazai Osamu, there is no character I've ever read about that I relate to more than Yozo Oba. There was a fantastic anime adaptation that I recently stumbled across, which is where the above gif came from. It's called Blue Literature Series, and its biggest feature is NLH, but it features other famous Japanese writers' (from Bungo) stories as well. The anime adaptation gave me such a visceral perspective on Yozo after reading the novel, and I loved everything about the anime (besides the way they changed Yozo's "best friend" to a far better person than he was). In reference specifically to the character, though, Yozo is the ultimate depiction of the extreme fear of human beings and masked depression. I cried at so many moments from the book that hit right where I struggled in life, and I hardly ever reread things, but NLH was a major exception.
No lie, that shit had me saying "he's just like me fr!" 😀 lol... sorry
Kaneki Ken [Tokyo Ghoul]: Yeah yeah, I know. Everyone has talked about Kaneki. But he really is amazing. No matter how memed this poor man is, he remains among the top favorites, both in the depiction of his warring personalities as well as the monster vs. human. The entirety of TG is just GORGEOUS in its world building, character design, and fresh perspectives on the old cliche of half human, half devil. His character arc always gets me going. But he's been talked about enough; everyone knows about him. I don't need to say much except that MAN he truly WAS wayyyy better in the manga. I was stunned at the extreme difference, and I get it now - all those fans who were pissed at the show. That's why I always watch the anime before the manga. It just gets better that way.
Johan Liebert [Monster]: Besides the other antagonist you'll find a little further down in the list, this is my favorite anime villain of all time, I think. He's been hailed by many as one of the best, so I'm sure the subject is already worn out, but everything about this man had me crazy for him. His vicious backstory, his psychopathy, his incredible manipulation, and his treacherously low screen time. This is one of those characters where the lack of appearances in the show actually fueled my devotion, because the times when he did show up were absolutely BANGER, and his fucking presence is so intoxicating. He was fabulously animated too, and the whole show was such a good watch. The VA always has something to do with it for me, and Johan was no exception. (I watch everything in sub, just because the VAs are usually that gorgeous whispery-ear-fuck for mysterious characters like this 😂)
Sebastian Michaelis [Black Butler]: I mean come on, who wouldn't like Sebastian. Honestly, nothing much needs to be said. Ciel makes him that much better. Their tension and dynamics, and the way that their relationship was set up is just incredible. Can't be beat, really. I wish I could go back to the first time I saw BB and watch it all again, cuz fucking hell it was so good. I love the contradiction of Sebastian's devil hunger for human souls being conflicted - not by the fact that he has a human half, but by the fact that he's signed a deal with a human, and has grown some semblance of attachment to that human, and that's what keeps him unpredictable. Will he care for Ciel in the end and choose not to follow through or not? Idk, that was my favorite perspective of his character and the whole show.
Akihito Narihisago [ID: Invaded]: If you haven't seen this anime, you're missing out, firstly on one of my favorite VAs of all time 🥹 Kenjiro Tsuda, and secondly on a very emotional plot and story arc that I didn't expect for the genre of show that it was. Akihito is a detective in a virtual reality, trying to solve a murder. What I didn't expect was the constant appearances of a girl in this world that is Akihito's daughter, and how her face being on every victim made the case so incredibly personal that it was tear-jerking for me. Honestly, Tsuda's performance is probably the main reason why it hits so hard, but this poor man has to go through seeing his daughter's face on every mangled victim, watching her die over and over, and never being able to save her. And that's all he wants. He just wants to save her. I won't spoil any more, but good grief this one was a very unexpected favorite of mine.
Zero Kiryuu [Vampire Knight]: ☺️☺️☺️☺️ Whaaaaaaaaaat? He was my first whumpy boy *pinches cheeks*, my first anime love, *squish squish* baby's first anime! Back then when I was a lazy first-timer, I was watching in dub. By now I've gone back and re-watched in sub after realizing the great and powerful Miyano Mamoru was the voice of my vampire crush, but I am not complaining over the English VA, because Vic Mignogna is the only comparable voice to do any of Miyano's characters. Loved that man. Wish he was still around. In any case, Zero is the ultimate angsty vampire and nobody will ever replace him for me.
Yashiro [Saezuru wa Tori Habatakanai]: I...where do I even begin? T_T The sheer complexity of this man's personality makes him such an obsession to me. I would consume any and all media relating to him, no matter what it is. He's one of those characters that can endlessly be studied and picked apart. He has so much conflict, so many walls, so much pain. It's the ones who pretend they love self-destruction that really get to me. I love seeing Yashiro crumble because of Doumeki's insistent care, and words cannot express how many times I've watched the BLCD paired with the manga for the climactic first sex scene with Doumeki, and how emotional it was. It offered a whole new perspective in my opinion of how deep something as dismissed as erotica could go, and I strive for that same emotional and character depth in my own works because of it. The dynamics of this show in general provoked and inspired the story I'm writing of Ellum and Callyx, even if it existed long before I got into Saezuru. It helped me form it around what I learned from experiencing the manga and then the anime, and then the BLCD, and I can't fucking wait for the rest of this trilogy to come out so I can weep ffs.
Iason Mink [Ai no Kusabi]: Ah, the man who created Taushin. Lol, way back when Sadist was a baby whumper, this was one of the first yaoi I ever set eyes on. Though set in the weirdest and most repulsive world for erotica imo, the dynamics of Iason the Blondie and Riki his little brat Pet will remain one of my favorite power plays, and remains the standard for what I keep looking for in other stories. The anime remake was so unabashedly uncensored that it remains hard to find something that matches it, as far as non-con and punishment/pleasure based relationships go, and I wish it hadn't been cancelled cuz that was a fucking shame. Despite the plot being rather boring, the tension between these two makes up for it, and the constant rivalry of enemies who basically remain enemies and are only reluctant lovers when it comes to it makes it so intriguing. Iason is THE Master of all Masters in my opinion, and was voiced so perfectly in both anime versions - that velvety, stern voice omg - and Taushin was heavily influenced by him, as well as the classism of Gailda, coming from Ai no Kusabi's rankings of Blondies and Pets, which I thought made for an interesting world. If not for Ai no Kusabi, I don't think I'd ever have come up with the story of Dancing with Death, even though Taushin and Angel have a much different dynamic, since Angel is obedient and nothing like the hard-headed Riki. I still owe it to that anime.
Griffith [Berserk]: It's insane to me how long it took for me to finally watch Berserk, but for years all I saw was that ugly bastard with the name Guts in reference to the acclaimed manga and its disgustingly animated show. I never had an interest in reading the manga, so when I discovered the existence of Griffith through one of my friends who was urging me to read it, I realized that the story wasn't what I'd thought. Then, seeing the movies that existed with far better animation, I instantly got into it and was hooked. My gods, the character arc of this man. It remains one of my favorite tragedies, only outdone by Kaneki's. AND THE BEAUTY OF THIS BOY GOOD GRIEF LMAO it's so hilarious to me how pretty he is in a male-driven male-gaze manga, if you know what I mean. 😂 Like this story in general just stands out, and Griffith is the shining star. I got so attached to him, and to see him imprisoned and betrayed and just...JEEEEz. It hurt so much. And it felt so good to see him turn, no matter how horrifying. Still can't really put up with the infamous Casca/Griffith scene as it felt a little misplaced 😂
The Red King [K-Project series]: I feel like this anime is very under the radar, so allow me to introduce you to yet another badass man voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda. Everything about him is just...MUAH. He is a little elusive in the movies (there are several of them), so his screen time is criminally low for how obsessed I am with him, but when he's there he's THERE and is GLORIOUS. As the leader of a gang, in a world where each king rules a color and that color means their gangs have a certain ability - so for crimson there is fire, of course - he is the ultimate stern leader. They contrast this in the movies SO FANTASTICALLY by having this man taking care of a young girl, an adopted daughter of sorts, and showing off his soft spot for her and her alone. Oh my gods, I can't even begin. I just...I live for it. He is a kind leader, but the stoic and cold type, you know? One of my favorite personality types. He is easy to anger, but this girl that he protects adores him and he treats her like a little princess. I need to stop lol, I can't ramble too much, but I'll just say his rivalry with the Blue King, who used to be a good friend (enemies to lovers ship here I come) is heart-wrenching, and his eventual fate which I will not spoil absolutely destroyed me. The end.
I did 12, and I'm not sorry. I couldn't leave out The Red King or Griffith okay. I couldn't. I tried to not list the purely obvious ones, such as Bungo characters, Vanitas no Carte characters, or fandoms where I've made it quite clear how much I like certain people lmao. But they'd nevertheless be part of the list if it weren't limited to ten (COUGH 12), and I wanted to list characters that I had something particular to say about. A lot of them are made better by their counterpart or romantic interests in the show, such as Yashiro being perfectly matched with Doumeki, Zero being put to so much tension with Kaname, Johan being an incredible antagonist to Tenma, Iason showing off his power because of Riki's constant defiance, and The Red King having his soft spot with the little girl. And I mean, who would Griffith be without Guts?
I would list Gojo, but there's nothing to say about him that hasn't already been said, and that's just BARKBARKWOOFWOOFGGRRRR
Hope you enjoyed reading. And I hope you might've found some new anime because of it! K-Project seems lesser known, but my gods it's gorgeous, it's ship-city, and it's a fascinating plot heavily featuring on one of my favorite things: COLORS.
Thanks again for the tag 🖤 it's nice to be able to obsess over my favorites for a reason 😤
Tagging @lustfulcat ☺️☺️ if you feel like it, my sweet!

The Untamed: Why this is the best book adaptation made in television history
In 2021 I made I did a verrry minor review on the Chinese animation The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation and within the review I gave it a solid 4/5. With this being my second Chinese animation I was still very confused with the names of the characters but the action, OSTs, intriguing plot and characters themselves made up for it. When I saw that the series was based on a book by the same author of Heaven’s Official Blessing I hopped on google to find the English translation. I started reading the book in late 2021 but quickly lost interest. It just didn’t have the appeal like the it’s predecessor. Then in January 2022, The Untamed came up as a recommendation on Netflix; another google search later and I realized that it was based on the novel I was currently struggling to read. So me being as curious as a cat I opened Netflix and told myself I’ll just watch one episode to compare it to the beginning of the book and the animation. One episode turned into two, then to four before I knew it I watched 8 episodes in one sitting. I was stunned. Never before had I gotten so caught up in a drama. When I saw that certain events were changed and plot lines were added I decided to pause my binge watching mode and actually complete the novel and I’m glad I did. I still firmly believe that HOB is top tier BL romance but this is definitely 2nd place. The plot, though slow to start was fun, emotional and gripping. But after completing the novel I began to understand that the writers of The Untamed began to flesh out the characters more, they went way more in-depth with the plot of story. After going back to complete the drama this is my take on it:
1. Perfect Casting
Look I didn’t know who these people were but they were perfect! Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo were brilliantly casted to bring these characters to life. Xiao Zhan brought Wei Ying’s playful energy and bright smile to life so effortlessly and portrayed his grief so well that you couldn’t help but break down with him. Wang Yibo, even though he didn’t have much lines as his cast mate he still had the difficult job of portraying Lan Zhan’s emotions through facial expressions and it was so beautifully done that every micro smile was enough to know just how much he loved his Wei Ying.
2. More in-depth look at the background characters
Wen Qing is a queen and I am her loyal follower. Seriously she needs to be praised. I loved that we got to know a more humble side to her. I also loved how we got to see more of Yangli’s relationship with her brothers. I could just feel the pure love.
3. Wen Ning is a rare species and he must be protected at all cost.
Seriously protect this little bean. He is too precious for this world. And also kudos to him for standing up to Jiang Cheng and revealing the truth. My baby forgot his stutter and everything when he was ripping in Jiang Cheng.
4. Jiang Cheng
I loved the way the drama portrayed this character. I hated him in the animation and felt so-so about him in the book but the drama and his actor made him portray his emotions so much better that I understood his frustrations. We could see his conflict and how much he wanted to protect his brother but he also has his sect to think about. When he discovered the truth about Wei Ying my heart shattered. When he returns Chenqing to Wei Ying it made more sense in the drama than the animation as to why he held on to it for so long.
5. The Theme Song
I really hope the composers for this masterpiece won some type of award because honestly they deserve it. Every time the tracked played you felt the love of Wei Ying and Lan Zhan
6. The Villian
I’m just gonna leave this here. I think it’s self explanatory why I love this villain so much
Overall this was an amazing series that has a permanent place in my heart. Honestly, Hollywood should take notes from the writers of this series on to how to properly made a book to tv adaptation. I have such high hopes for HOB live action series. If you haven’t watched this series please give it a chance. And if you already watched it, go watch it again 😋

✧ WARNING(S): mentions of misogyny, brief story of san attacking someone, a curse word (?)
back。| next。
if jiyu had a dollar for every time she had been woken up in the middle of the night in the past week—well, she wouldn’t be rich, but she’d have a substantial amount of pocket change.
“jiyu!” mingi whispered, gently shaking her out of her slumber. “wake up!”
groaning, she habitually scooted over to make room on the bed since mingi usually wandered into her room in the middle of the night due to nightmares. “just don’t take all the blanket—”
“no! this is urgent!” he frantically tried explaining. “i think someone’s trying to break in!”
her eyes instantly shot open and she immediately sat right up in bed. “mingi, why didn’t you just start with that?” she frantically whispered back, hurriedly slipping on a hoodie.
“i tried, but you kept grumbling!”
“okay, we’ll have this conversation again later. let’s just see if the others are awake.” slowly opening her bedroom door, she and mingi peeked their heads out to see if anyone was outside. while they didn’t see anyone, they heard footsteps and clutters out by the front door.
mingi clutched onto her hoodie as his eyes clamped shut out of terror and his ears were slumped down. jiyu took his hand in her’s and rubbed comforting circles on his knuckles. “shh, it’s okay mingi.”
while whispering to mingi, she noticed the others tip-toeing towards them as to not alert the perpetrator that they were awake. being the predator hybrids, seonghwa, hongjoong, and yeosang were on full alert. yunho scurried over to her and mingi, quietly whimpering, while san stood and frowned at the front door.
“i didn’t think they’d come so soon...” he mumbled once he caught whiff of the familiar human scent.
“was this the one that hurt you?” hongjoong whispered.
san nodded. “he works for my...old owners. i thought he stopped tracking me down a while ago until the other night.” he looked to the floor, guilt flashing across his features. “i’m sorry, i didn’t mean to drag you into my affairs—”
jiyu interrupted while holding onto yunho and mingi. “san, i’ve mentioned it before, we chose to help you, meaning we won’t abandon you even if we’re also pulled into danger. so don’t apologize, okay?”
seeing her small smile of reassurance, his guilt multiplied. but he couldn’t do anything about it now, so he just nodded while promising himself that he wouldn’t let a single hair on their heads get hurt. even if he would be the one to take the blunt of the pain.
“oi, choi san! i know you’re in there.”
they all froze at the unknown voice from the front door.
“why don’t you open the door and we can just talk this out like grown men?”
san climbed down the stairs and stood a distance away from the front door. seonghwa and hongjoong followed in case. “you beat me to a pulp the last time, and now you just want to talk? i don’t think so,” he hissed.
the person on the other side let out a low chuckle. “ah, apologies for that. although you and i both know that it’d be a shame if you were too badly...injured. they do want you alive and well, after all. i can’t kill you, san.”
a moment of silence passed as they all held their breaths, anticipating the next move. but much to their surprise, the person showed no signs of breaking down the front door and wreaking havoc.
“in all seriousness, san, i really did come to talk. no weapons, just to talk.”
“seonghwa,” jiyu whispered down to the wolf hybrid. “you can check the security camera over there,” she pointed to her tablet that was on the living room table. luckily, when they had first moved in, she had installed two security cameras, both so small to the human eye that anyone would just gloss over it.
“and again, what makes you think i’d believe you?” san asked, while watching the wolf hybrid from the corner of his eye. seonghwa pulled up the security footage to see a man wearing a long, black trench coat, and his face was obscured by a black fedora hat. he stood with his hands in his pockets, and his overall figure practically screamed danger.
suddenly, the man took out folded papers from his pockets and held it up—almost as if he knew they were watching him. “because i came with something that you’ve been after ever since you left.”
san’s eyes widened and his body froze. there’s no way—
“so what’s the move?” hongjoong asked to both san and jiyu.
judging from his reaction, jiyu had a hunch that whatever the unknown man brought was really important to san. she didn’t know what it was, but looking at the security footage, he didn’t seem like he was hiding anything. and his voice, she could be hearing things, but it seemed as if it held a tinge of remorse.
“carefully open the door,” she decided. “but don’t let your guard down.”
despite looking he had some objections, hongjoong and seonghwa carefully walked ahead of san, who was still frozen in spot, and cracked the door open. they both anticipated either gunshots or the person to come barging through them, but they both peeked out to see the man standing there patiently.
“oh? i see you made some friends,” he commented. “meaning...you’re taking refuge with another human?”
“try anything funny, i’ll make sure you never step out of here alive,” seonghwa snarled before opening the door wide enough for the man to come in. hongjoong stood eyed the man suspiciously, as he waltzed in, stopping in front of san.
with a better look at the man, they all noticed a mask that covered up to his eyes. the man was tall, but falling just a little short of yunho’s height, and he seemed to be in his mid-thirties or late-twenties.
despite being terrified out of there wits, and even though yeosang was standing protectively by them, mingi and yunho stood in front of jiyu, scared that the man would try to harm her. but their shaking didn’t go unnoticed from her. she held their hands, hoping it could comfort them.
“i see you’ve aged well,” the man noted, looking san up and down. “to be quite honest, i’m surprised you managed to survive out on the streets all these years. i—no we, were sure you’d give up and come back.”
“as if i’d ever go back,” san lowly, but firmly stood his ground.
the man smirked before taking a look around at each of them. “so where’s your little human friend?”
she stepped out from behind yunho and mingi before peering down over the railings. “what business do you have here?” with the exception of yunho and seonghwa, they were all surprised at her composed and level-headed state.
letting out a huff of disbelief, he started straight up at her. “i wasn’t expecting a woman.”
“hm, sorry to disappoint then,” she sneered.
she was used to the misogynistic treatment; even back at home, people always underestimated her abilities since she was a girl. she’s heard the comments, backhanded compliments, and seen the undermining looks as people doubted her. but she swore to prove them wrong one day, even though she took five years off.
“so again, what do you want here?”
the man chuckled again at her defensive tone before holding his hands up. “i come in peace, ma’am.”
“and for your own sake, i hope that’s true,” she bit back before coming down the stairs. she left mingi and yunho with yeosang. the man let out an airy chuckle before making himself comfortable on the couch, aware of seonghwa’s and hongjoong’s preying gaze on him.
“...did you really bring it?” san asked, not wanting to get his hopes up. this was the same man that hunted him down for years on end, yet he came here, claiming that he managed to retrieve the items san really wanted? it was near to impossible that he was telling the truth, but there was that sliver of hope.
bringing out the papers once again, the man laid it on the coffee table in front of him. “you can check for yourself. i may work for them, but i’m a man of my word.”
jiyu waltzed over and peered at the papers the man laid out. her eyebrows furrowed at the contents. his birth certificate and adoption forms?
coming up next to her, san stared at the forms with widened eyes. they were indeed what he had been after for the past few years, and the man really did bring it to him. so many questions ran through his head that he couldn’t even form a single sentence. the home was dropped into a tense silence, the only sound being the ticking of the clock above the dining table.
seconds turned into a minute before san could croak out a sentence, or rather, a question. “b-but, why—”
“i’ve had a lot of time—years—to think,” the man leaned back on the couch and stared up at san. “it’s pretty stupid and childish to chase you down for something that wasn’t even your fault, don’t you think?”
san was still cautious. “so you took these for me to do...what?”
“well, what do you think?” the man leaned forward, resting his arms in his lap.
jiyu’s eyes slightly widened with surprise. “you want to set him free, don’t you...”
“that’s one way of putting it, yes.”
“there’s a catch, there’s always a catch,” san sarcastically scoffed. “no way you’d give these to me for free after all these years—”
the man let out an exasperated sigh before leaning back on the couch and throwing his hands over his face. “oh my god, i ended my contract with them, you fucking idiot.”
san just silently stared at the man with the most comedic look on his face—widened eyes and his jaw slacked open like it was unhinged. meanwhile, jiyu just facepalmed at the revelation.
“now why didn’t you just open with that?” she grumbled. leaving out important information seemed to be the night’s theme.
“i thought i’d make it a little more fun. it’s not all that fun to just say my piece and go, now don’t you think?” the man mused before standing up. “my contract was ensued until i brought you back. i just told them a little white lie about how your trails went cold after a while so i just assumed you were dead. and poof, took these and left,” he gestured to the papers on the table.
“...will they still look for him though?” jiyu asked, unsure that they’d just give up looking for san just like that.
“probably not. they were one to never get their hands dirty anyways. especially since their daughter’s in the hospital—”
san tensed at the mention of hospital, something that certainly didn’t go unnoticed by the man. “so she doesn’t know, does she?” he referred to jiyu. “or all of them for that matter.” at some point along the way, yeosang, mingi, and yunho had joined them downstairs, yet they still stuck close to yeosang just in case things went downhill again.
san silently shook his head, mentally preparing for the worst when they found out about his sins.
“san here,” the man started, “is the one that put the family’s only daughter in the hospital.”
they glanced at san with the same thought. how did a cat hybrid manage to put a human in the hospital?
“to put it short, something provoked him to go feral, and he ended up attacking her until she almost bled out. we don’t know what provoked him to this day, but the family turned on him after that incident. and since he has no memories of the moments right before and when he was feral, it was hard for him to defend himself, so he ran away.”
taking a look at san, who looked like he just wanted to disappear, she felt her heart ache for him. he’s been alone for so long...all because of a potential misunderstanding.
“either way, i’m still the reason she’s been injured for so long. not only physically, but probably mentally, too. imagine the trauma from being attacked by a feral hybrid.” a deprecating chuckle escaped san’s lips.
seeing him look so down, she stroked his head. “hey, it wasn’t your fault. hybrids can’t help themselves when they go feral. it’s like you’re trapped out of your own body, so don’t blame yourself. you might have attacked her, but it wasn’t you.”
it was amazing to him how reassuring her words were, and how it was so easy for him to almost believe. there always will be that small part of him that will always blame himself for what happened, whether he liked it or not.
the man stood up and brushed his pants. “i believe i’ve overstayed my welcome, so i’ll take my leave now,” he bowed to the six of them. “and i apologize for the fright i might’ve caused.”
before the man could open the door to leave, san felt compelled to at least thank him for what he’s done. “wait! thank you...for everything...”
after a moment’s pause, the man turned around, and judging from how his eyes turned upward, it seemed as though he was smiling. “it was the least i could do after everything i’ve put you through the last few years. i’ll see you around, choi san.”
and with that, the man took his leave.
once he closed the door, he heard their muffled voices, most likely discussing san’s future. he smiled before looking up to the sky. “well now, where am i to go next?”

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Thanks....
Yea sure I don't mind. This got me thinking haha. This list includes characters from other genres. Don't expect for deep reasons why I love them hehe. I just love them just because. ❤️
10. Gojo Satoru - Jujutsu Kaisen
I love his confidence because he knows he is the strongest. I like how complex he is. Sometimes overfriendly, sometimes savage as fvck. I guess I do like him the most when he is fighting. I know how overpowered it may look like but I'm still at awe how strong he is
9. L - Death Note
His intelligence. I think that's a given 😆. I just love how his mind works.
8. Sesshoumaru - Inuyasha
He is my childhood crush haha. I love how tsundere he is and his ethereal look.
7. Ivan Mariani - The Devil's Temptation
Another one from the BL world. Guess I have a thing for tall, dark and handsome haha 😝. I also love how hilarious he is. He is a riot with Hen (Hyun Lee). I suppose I really love those funny characters who loves deeply. hehe I love him because of how whipped he is for Hyun. You see, they started as enemies, always teasing each other but when they began dating, he treats Hyun as the most precious baby he is.
6. Sentaro Kawabuchi - Kids on the Slope
If you have not heard of this anime, better give it a go. The thing that got me to like him is his drumming skills. The animation really did justice to his parts of killing those drums.
5. Levi Ackerman
Because he is a badass when it comes to fighting 👌🏻💪🏻. And he's so charming when he shows how he cares for Eren and the gang. Though not so obvious at times, hehe.
4. Hua Cheng - Heaven Official's Blessing
Waiting for your beloved for 800 years. Protecting him even he doesn't know it. How could I not like this man? I just recently finished the novel and damn, it hit me like a storm. Surge of emotions. Aside from he's good-looking, I just really love his devotion for Xie Lian. Loyalty award goes to him.
3. Cain - Dear Door
He is a damn walking green flag!!!! If we're only talking about the manhua and/or BL world, he is easily my Top 1. Just thinking of him makes me tear up a bit. Because why such a man is only fictional. waaahh! 😫🥺 But for real, I love how goofy he is. How he fool's around with Kyungjoon but also knows how to be serious at certain situations. Him being protective of Kyungjoon is really a good example of how you don't want to lose the one you love over someone/something. It doesn't feel he is overbearing and being toxic. And one more thing, I like his built and package haha. Well, who doesn't right? 😏
2. Gintoki Sakata - GinTama
Ohhhhhh of course I'm not only for romcom hahaha. I actually felt bad that he's my number 2 hehe. But overall, I like him for being one of the baddest samurai out there. I love how funny and hilarious he is. And mostly, I love how he is so caring with Kagura and Shinpachi.
1. Kazehaya Shouta - Kimi ni Todoke
Out of all the shoujo I've read and watched, he's the closest to reality of how a man should be (at least for me hehehe). Whenever I'm asked about my top 1, Kazehaya will be the first one on my mind. He really made an impression on me. I really like his character, he's not like other's who is super tsundere or will walk away at the first sign of jealousy. I love that part in the anime wherein he saw Sawako and Ryu talking with each other and there's Kurumi, getting him riled up and get mad at Swako and Ryu. Instead of being violent or being overly jealous, he run towards Sawako and took her away. Such a man! 😊

They taught a small sect, powerful in their few numbers in a world where a new reign of great sects conquered the region. Though they did not hunt for title and gain as the four great sects did, their name held weight to the kingdom’s people. Those protected by Master Shen and Lord Luo live lives free of fear.
When the child raised as the lords’ own son is sent abroad to appease a tyrant, there is little anyone can do but pray for mercy on those who would dare hurt a hair on little Wei Wuxian’s head.

Hualian-Adopted!WWX :
A Morning of Fallen Stars by constellationqueen (100K, Mature)
It's common knowledge in the Heavens that gods are not supposed to interact with humans outside of answering prayers, and they're definitely not supposed to show up in person and talk to a child. But Xie Lian isn't afraid of breaking rules that he's already broken, so he does it anyway. In fact, he takes it one step further and brings the child home.
Basically, Wei Wuxian's parents died in a night hunt when he was five, but he ends up being adopted a year later by a god and his ghost king husband, so it's not all bad.... In fact, it's probably better than it should be.
(Welcome to one of the rare times I try to avoid angst as much as possible. Wei Wuxian deserves happiness and I will give it to him.)
*~discontinued after chapter 15/outline summary of the remainder in chapter 16~*
@xiielian
Love Like You by HisRedEmpress (72K, Teen, WIP - 10/15)
(Hualian-Adopted!WWX, Post-Canon for TGCCF, Kid!WWX, Found Family, Love At First Sight, Heavenly Officials and Ghost Kings alike wrapped in Wei Ying's fingers,
Wei Wuxian is spoiled, much more than jiejie's betrothed, Jin Zixuan. The difference between the two is Jin Zixuan is arrogant about it, while Wei Wuxian is oblivious to the boundless extent he can get away with everything he does.
Jiang Cheng is so thankful Wei Wuxian sees him and jiejie as his family.
With that, Jiang Cheng can be assured that if Wei Wuxian decides he wants to have the world, he and jiejie will sparingly be safe when his Supreme Ghost King father and Heavenly Martial Emperor father, not to mention his other Ghost King uncle and grandfather, heavenly official uncles and aunts plus wrath level ghost uncles and aunts, would turn heaven and earth upside down just to give him what he wants.
(or the one where baby Wei Ying is adopted by Hualian)
let this soul be your whisper by merthurlin (19K, Teen, WIP - 5/?)
(Hualian-Adopted!WWX, Post-Siege of the Burial Mounds, Post-Canon for TGCF, Kid!WWX, Found Family)
“I think…” Xie Lian says slowly, not taking his eyes off the bag. “I think I knew this person. Who this soul used to be.”
He can hear Hua Cheng suck in a breath. “Gege, maybe it’s better if you don’t—“
But Xie Lian ignores him, and reaches out with one trembling hand to touch the bag. A second passes, and then another, and Xie Lian almost lets out a breath in relief, before he feels something in the bag reaching back.
“A-Ying?”
-
Once upon a time, Xie Lian took in an orphan, and gave him a home and a family. Twenty years and a godhood later, he finds he still has more in him to give.

October Favorites 2020!
Hello!
i'm going to start bringing these favorites of the month from my deviantart to here on tumblr. Hopefully you will find something good out of the things that I have been liking recently, please leave in the comments anything that you have been liking this month ( books, manga, anime, tv shows...etc) I have been a little uninspired for a while, but I'm still working on a few new digital art pieces as well as continuing my painting hobby, so there's a lot of content on the way!
okay so on to the things that I've been liking this month.
So if you've seen my latest digital art " who's baby is it?" I have been delving into web toons which I have not read other than mo dao zu shi since I watched the anime and It just suddenly stopped after season 2. I thought reading the web toon would answer some of those questions i had. It lead me to reading a bunch of webtoons all in the shounen ai category for some reason...lol. and I've been really liking some of the stories, Until this point web toons never really interested me since I've been reading manga since I was younger , so i've been used to just seeing the black and white pages of art, since web toons have coloured pages, it makes me appreciate the effort they used to colour every panel, so a lot of work went into these so i appreciate it for what it is even if the story inst great.
let me preface by saying that even though i'm delving into BL, i've been exposed to yaoi ever since I was in high school by one of my best friends, she lent me her favorite anime which was " gravitation" and all remember was wanting a man that was like yuki...lol. don't we all?
since then I have been reading some yaoi manga...only ones that are NOT predicated on sexual violence and abuse, which I know is prevalent in this category, I just don't like it and the message it sends, so i avoid that all together.
unless of course it has a particular message it wants to convey, not glorifying it. if that makes sense.
okay so here are my recommendations, i'll give a very brief summary of each of them
Manga/Manhwa:
----------------------------------------------
Who's baby is it?

- “a man named yi yun wanted to be an actor and is part of an acting company for several years and still was not successful, apparently it was because he was born with really bad luck, so to change his life perspective he decided that he wanted to be a surrogate father and donate his sperm to a surrogate mother in order to have a child that is his blood. So he and his child were living happily together through yi yuns work periods and suddenly there is a man that claims he is the child's actual blood related father and wanted to take the child into his custody.”
please read the summary I have in my fan art, I've wrote my thoughts on this manhwa.
To be or not to be

- “A company president diagnosed with cancer and died has been transmigrated into his favorite novel, where he was reborn as the antagonistic emperor that the main character defeats in the end, on top of which the main lead is currently the captive of said emperor, so in order to survive he will do anything to protect the protagonist and make sure he stays alive inside the novels universe.”
oh to be or not to be that is the question...lol. it really is. currently is is one of my favorites, I like how modern day people can look at the acts of history and modify certain things so that it would less likey repeat itself for the worse, we need this sort of mentality at this moment...
Social temperature

- “Song Yuan is indifferent when dealing with people he is an elite student at T- university as a science major, one day his friend started to question his sexuality and set him up with a month trial dating app as a joke, as soon as he went to delete the app on his phone, he was suddenly matched with a boy named "Mu", who turns out to be his classmate/ rival in his science program, his named is Xaio Mu , he is an exchange student abroad and got into this elite science program, hoping to meet new friends he approached song yuan and proceed to converse with him only to be ridiculed by him saying that he wears too much perfume and it made him sick so then he became the class social outcast. But after using the app to converse with "Mu"...song yuan became curious as to what he is actually like...using the fake name and bio of " Andrew " they start to get to know each other more.”
omg , this is triggering for me, since Mu is basically me a few years ago when I was also in a medical science program minus the talking on tinder thing lol, I felt as though everyone in that program was in it for themselves and I didn't not like the how people think they are entitled to everything...that's why i'm not in it no more.lol. there are a few plot holes in the story that I don't really get but other than that I really like this story I read the chapters that are out so far like 3 times cause I'm waiting for the rest to be translated. I also actually read the Novel by the same author of the manhua called " social outcast" so if you just want to read it in text format please read that novel instead, I like the novel up to a point and then it didn't really make sense after wards..lol.
so i can't say that i recommended it completely. Also Mu's character design I really like, thus i'm going to make a fan art of him soon...omg he's so beautiful, i'm in love lol.
Salad Days ( tang liu zang)

- “This is the story between a young innocent ballet boy and a passionate, determined boxing boy. The two met at the children’s palace, and since then, they have grown up together supporting each other. May there be hardships, may there be obstacles, yet they never stopped pursuing their dreams. The beauty of the salad days is the sweat from the hard work and the bonding of friendship. Although they have completely different paths set up for them, what never changes is their beautiful friendship.”
wow this story so far is really beautiful, I was in ballet for 3 years so it was slightly relatable to me, I feel like the over all message is that people sacrifice a lot for their dreams and if you are very passionate about it, there's no on that can really stop you, the only one that can stop you is you. I can't wait to see this story progress further
K-dramas:
------------------------------------------
it okay to not be okay - this probably has been mentioned as everyone's favorite, but rightfully so, I really like ko mun young's character as a person who seems like an assertive and powerful woman, but is suffering from a social disorder. and how moon gang tae has to not only deal with mental patients at his job but also his older brother being autistic, he himself is suffering from mental illness. this drama is something not a lot of dramas portray in dealing with mental illness and how the patients/ loved ones are feeling when watching them go through it all. I liked the story and the message and it made me cry in every episode, so fair warning...have tissues beside you as you watch.
itaewon class- I was not going to watch this because of the mixed reviews but I did any ways, and it was really good, a really good depiction of how money and power isn't the end all be all , and being happy is really the best revenge you can get, it also addresses racism and prejudice on one character and sexism on a trans-gendered woman. I also think this is a story that protrays something that really hasn't been exposed to in k-dramas specifically. It depends on your morals and what you understand so far in your life wether you would like this drama or not, so i understand the mixed reviews that it gets, but for me it was a really good story.
Anime/ TV shows:
---------------------------------------------
I don't have any anime recommendations this month mainly cause I have not been watching any, but there are some that i might watch soon so I will list those below, let mew know if any of you have seen them and should I be watching them.
- Nobelese
-yasha hime ( inuyasha new series)
-Haikyuu new season
-heavens official blessing ( same author of mo dao zushi) - just started watching
-scum bag saving system- just started watching
Music :
----------------------------------
so I have just been listening to a lot of OSTs,
I really recommend the itaewon class soundtrack, all the songs are so good!
my favorite on is " crush- No words "
also my friend has been sending me NCT and super M practice videos so I've been listening to their music as well, please listen to make a wish by NCT U, it has been stuck in my head and I cant get it out...lol.
------------------------------
that's all for this October faves summary. please comment below if anything interested you for the month of October, I would also like to read your recommendations as well, please also take care of yourselves especially now with all that's escalating in the world.
take care!

What I love about Caste Heaven: Part 1
Hey guys, this is a series of posts talking about what I love about a book I am currently addicted to called: Caste Heaven. I’m sorry it took so long to make, I became unexpectedly busy for a few days. MAJOR SPOILER WARNING. This first part will be about the characters.
Caste Heaven is a yaoi/BL manga made by none other than Ogawa Chise. This manga is a psychological story set mainly in a high school. In their school, there is a class caste in every class - one that the teachers don’t know about. A caste is basically a ranking of individuals, for example, there is a king, a queen, a jack, etc. The caste is decided in an after-school scavenger hunt where the students must race to find their desired card before someone else does. In Caste Heaven, high school students must make their own decisions on how to survive their high school life now that they are given the chance to make opinions for themselves. One of the things that make this book interesting is its characters.
The characters in this book are just completely amazing. Yuuya Azusa (blonde hair) is the main character of this series in the first few chapters. Azusa is a cocky, overbearing, and selfish king. He takes advantage of girls whenever he chooses too and, holds no qualms about using his own subjects for his own benefits. At this point in time, readers are given the chance to hate this man and yearn for his downfall. At the end of the first chapter, Azusa tells what he thinks to be his most faithful subject, Kouhei Karino (black hair) to get him the king card using the common tactic of seduction. As you may have guessed, Karino does not do this. Karino, in fact, keeps the king card for himself and gives Azusa the joker card - the lowest rank. Karino then reveals his true personality as a sadistic leader. Karino’s sudden change in personality was expected yet made me wonder: What reason did he have to hide his personality? Why did he want Azusa to suffer so much? What was the reason for his hatred towards Azusa and why was it so important? By this point, readers start thinking things like ‘Azusa had it coming’ and ‘he deserved it anyways’ as well as ‘this is a chance for him to learn how to be less cocky’. I kind of felt that way too; until I saw how he lived at home. I won’t go into detail about what exactly was there, but the point is: Azusa was suffering. He had a terrible relationship with his mother because of the choices she made in order to have her and her son survive which shaped his twisted personality. It didn’t matter what he did or how many people he used to him because his goal was to not become like his mother at all costs. The problem is, he didn’t know the correct way to do that because he’d been living with his mother and her bad choices for years which led to him thinking that that was the only way he would be able to survive in this world. Azusa is desperately trying to cling on to that last bit of pride he has even in his current situation, because of that, he rejects pity and interprets it as mockery. Azusa twisted personality and Karino’s occasional sadistic monopolization of him is what makes this story continuously interesting.
Enter: Kusakabe Atsumu. Atsumu is by far the most adorable character to me personally. He’s pure, he’s cute, and he just does not deserve any pain that comes to him. Atsumu was the former joker before Azusa; he was bullied constantly by his own classmates because of his position and I just felt bad for him. That is until one person showed up and completely changed things for him.
Kuze is the one person that was not affected by the class caste and chose to give Atsumu a chance. After the caste was chosen again and their ranks were closer to each other which gave them a chance to talk without being criticized as friends, Kuze wanted nothing more than to protect Atsumu. Kuze literally puts Atsumu first in all kinds of situations. What’s also lovable about Atsumu is that he’s not thinking about how to survive in this situation - he’s thinking about what is right. When he witnessed Kuze putting himself in harm’s way just to protect him, he felt that it was not right.
Kuze’s story begins when he was young. At that time he was given the chance to take care of bunnies to make them grow. After the bunny he’d attempted to take care of so earnestly died, he felt as though it was his fault and vowed to himself to protect things to best of his abilities so that they won’t die. After seeing rude characters for multiple chapters, I was actually shocked when Atsumu tried to help Kuze with his trauma. Atsumu and Kuze is the perfect pair for this manga and their interactions are what make me calm down when something in the story goes completely crazy.
Something that really warms my heart with the characters is the interactions with Atsumu and Azusa. Azusa was the cause of Atsumu being the joker in the previous caste. Azusa also has never treated Atsumu with any kind of respect, but even with that, Atsumu still gives him a chance. There are always those little moments where Azusa will be irritated and feeling dreadful about his circumstance. Azusa had already given up on gaining respect from his classmates so he’d just be mad with nowhere to turn to. Then Atsumu would just smile and say those caring words that he really needed. Something as small as “Are you okay?” would make Azusa feel much better. Even though he still gives Atsumu the cold shoulder, I think Azusa appreciates Atsumu’s compassion and would probably even hope for them to be friends.
Thank you for reading Part 1 of this post. I know I only went through the main characters so please expect a review of more characters in later posts. Again, thanks for reading!!!

back。| next。

“yeosang, hello,” jiyu peeked in with a smile and wave. behind her were four other hybrids. they peeked out from behind her and made eye contact with the fox hybrid.
yeosang waved back, suddenly feeling wary again with the new presences in the room, even if they were his own kind. maybe i’m more shy than i thought...
“just like i promised, i brought these four babies with me today,” she teased, earning a ‘hey!’ from mingi.
yeosang now understood why jiyu wasn’t so worried for the bunny hybrid as other people were; the bunny was at least six feet tall, towering above the other predator hybrids. except for the golden–retriever, he seemed to be the same height.
seonghwa slowly approached yeosang and stared at him. he’s heard so much about this fox hybrid being his “twin”, now he wanted to see for himself.
yeosang, on the other hand, remembered jiyu’s comment from the previous day about him being similar to the wolf hybrid. just how similar were they for her to associate them with each other?
the two tilted their heads in the same direction as they observed each other. both of their eyes widened and they pointed to each other. “you’re me,” they both said, before slapping a hand over their mouths. they both seemed so fascinated, and slightly terrified, that they were mirroring each other right from the getgo.
hongjoong, yunho, mingi, and jiyu watched the scene in awe. jiyu didn’t realize they were that similar. “pfft—” they all stifled their laughter.
the other three could now understand why jiyu called yeosang his twin by just looking at him. the two possessed the same intimidating face but once they opened their mouths, they were just soft little kids on the inside.
“a–are you sure you guys weren’t separated at birth?” yunho asked, trying to suppress his chuckles feom spilling out.
“i’m an only child, i swear!” they both shouted before staring at each other in awe once again.
jiyu couldn’t hold it in anymore and she burst out into laughter that brought a smile to everyone’s faces. “o–oh my god, t–this is priceless!” she managed to squeeze out in between her laughter. “i–i knew you guys were similar to a certain extent...b–but this blows my expectations!”
yeosang shyly scratched the back of his neck and looekd away; his cheeks and the tips of his human ears flushed pink. seonghwa mirrored his expression as he turned towards jiyu.
“j–jeez, it’s not that funny,” he mumbled, seeing the other three trying to suppress their chuckles and snickers as well.
“‘i’m an only child!’” hongjoong mimicked as he chuckled. “seems like you and the fox hybrid are soulmates at the moment.”
jiyu calmed down and took a few breaths to stabilize herself. “anyways, yeosang. that’s seonghwa. the tiger hybrid is hongjoong, the golden–retriever is yunho, and the bunny is mingi. they’re all my little fur balls.”
‘d–did she call is fur balls?’ the four sweatdropped as the same thought ran through their minds.
“guys, this is yeosang. remember to be careful if you play with him since his wounds are still healing,” she reminded them.
yeosang quickly glanced at hongjoong. he was always curious about the tiger hybrid from seojin’s stories. by the looks of it, he seemed like he was indeed thriving; the genuine smile said it all. as a matter of fact, all of their smiles spoke for them.
“ji,” yeonjun called as he poked his head into the room. “can you help me sort these papers? i need to process them into the system but they’re all mixed,” he asked, carrying in a three, thick folders filled with various documents.
“jeez, who hated you enough to give you that?” she joked, yelping when yeonjun poked her side. “i’m kidding, i’m kidding!” she chuckled. “yeah, i’ll help you. come in here.” she cleared the table so they could work on re–organizing the documents.
yeosang observed her from his bed, almost forgetting the presence of the other four with them.
“what are you thinking about?” yunho asked, making the fox hybrid flinch at the sudden reminder than he wasn’t alone.
“n–nothing...just...she’s really nice,” he mumbled, fidgeting with his fingers. “i was kind of mean to her the first few days but yet she still came back to talk to me.”
seonghwa nodded, stealing a quick glance at her as she flipped through the papers. “yeah...she didn’t give up on us either, no matter how violent or stubborn we were.”
“it’s her charm, though!” yunho piped up.
“yeah, but she’s too nice sometimes...she could end up helping the wrong people,” yeosang mindlessly mumbled. there were a lot of malicious people out there, there was always a possibility of it happening.
the four sweatdropped again as they remembered the various incidents of jiyu showing her “scary” side when it came to protecting the ones she loved; when she changed into a whole different person in front of yunho’s former owners, and when she tracked down mingi’s former owner and managed to retrieve his adoption forms.
“i–i don’t think we have to worry about that,” mingi sheepishly laughed as he rubbed the back of his neck.
yeosang didn’t question it. after all, he didn’t know her as well as they did.
“this might be an insensitive question,” hongjoong said from the window, “but where will you go after leaving here?”
yeosang grew silent at the question. truthfully, he didn’t even know himself. he could follow the facility protocol of having to be transferred to the adoption floor, and potentially finding a new family.
the only problem was...he couldn’t see himself with another family. it had taken him so long to trust jiyu, he didn’t want to imagine trying again with other people. he knew they’d grow impatient with his personality and just throw him out, heck, maybe even return him.
“...i’m not sure. probably just go with the flow and be put up for adoption.”
the four wordlessly glanced at each other. he didn’t sound convincing; rather, it sounded like he was convincing himself to go along with the facility protocol. seonghwa and hongjoong were in his shoes at one point.
seonghwa quietly sighed. “do you feel happy with jiyu?” he asked.
“...define happy,” yeosang mumbled, looking at each and every one of them. “is that how you all feel with her?”
yunho and mingi enthusiastically nodded. “she makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside!” mingi declared. “it’s a really good feeling. i could never imagine someone else adopting me.”
“that’s one way of putting it,” hongjoong chuckled at the bunny hybrid before looking at yeosang. “but yes, it’s a warm feeling. she provides us with everything we all lacked in our previous homes,” hongjoong said, quickly peeking in jiyu and yeonjun’s direction. “it’s like...you feel safe around her. like nothing could ever hurt you again.”
and yeosang wasn’t going to lie. he did feel that. he felt all the warmness and fuzziness thst mingi described, he felt safe like nothing would harm him again; but most of all, he felt cared for. he felt appreciated.
his old owners only appreciated him for his monetary value, but with jiyu, he felt a different type of appreciation. like she cared about him for him; the fox hybrid that was shy around others, the fox hybrid that loved drawing little made–up characters called hehetmon.
“i think he found his answer,” seonghwa chuckled.
“what was the point in asking me all that?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. “to test me?”
yunho shoved a paper up to his face, making yeosang flinch and fall back into the bed. d–did i just flinch from paper? that’s a new low for me.
“yunho! be careful!” hongjoong quietly scolded the puppy.
“oops...sorry,” yunho sheepishly apologized before handing yeosang the paper instead. “this was all of our ideas!” he smiled.
yeosang read the contents of the paper and he almost made his heart rate monitor go haywire from the emotions he felt. the four panicked at the sporatic beeping sounds.
jiyu and yeonjun’s heads snapped up at the sound, concern written across their face. “what’s the matter, yeosang?” she asked, hastily approaching him. recognizing the form in his hands, she lightly gasped.
“well, this is awkward...u–um, you weren’t supposed to see that yet—”
the four sheepishly looked to the ground. had they messed up?
“c–can i really?” yeosang quietly asked, his eyes never leaving the paper. “can–can i really go home with you?”
in his hands was yet again, another filled out adoption form.
seeing the form was the final push for him, the final piece of the puzzle. that he really did feel happy with jiyu. and that he was hesitant about being adopted by other people because he was so used to jiyu’s presence around him. like mingi had said, he couldn’t imagine being adopted by anyone else.
jiyu gently smiled. “i didn’t want to force it onto you so i never said anything,” she explained before putting a hand in his head. “but we all discussed about it two nights ago about bringing you home with us. although, after today,” she playfully glared at the four hybrids were peeking out from behind yeonjun, “i think they grew a little impatient about bringing the topic up.”
yeosang felt a rush of emotions. maybe fate really did feel bad for him and decided to not throw him under the bus. maybe fate really was nice, after all.
“i–if it’s not too much trouble,” he shyly mumbled, “th–then i accept your offer,” he said, a small smile spreading across his face. jiyu smiled back; this was the first time she’s seen him smile.
“seonghwa’s twin’s coming home!” hongjoong jokingly declared, patting seonghwa’s back. yunho and mingi cheered along.
seonghwa sighed, but no one could deny the smile he was trying to hide. “i’m not going to try.”
yeonjun looked back. “so how long am i going to be used as a shield?”
