Album Review: Ghorot - Wound (Lay Bare Recordings / Transylvanian Records / King Of The Mountain Records)

EMPEROR in Transylvanian Damnation issue no. 1, 1992

^ Emperor era Mortiis c. Nov 1992 bc I can't find the zine cover
Mortiis interviewed (transcription below)
[ancient-qveen: I linked this interview before but I wanted to make a dedicated post about it because its not that easy to find. Credit to AEon]

Emperor formed about Sept of ’91, with the following line-up: Steingrimm – guitar and vocal, Samot /Lord of Silence/ - guitar/ex-drums and Emperor Mortiis – bass /on the photo L to R/. They recorded the debut demo in May, on a 4-tracker. Euronymous offered them a record-deal, and a few months later Samot left the band to join BURZUM. Let’s see...
Well, you formed about one year ago and released a demo... How do you see this time, are you staisfied with your work?
Mortiis: Yeah! We are satisfied with our work. As for what we created during Oct-May, we are not really sounding so much like that any longer. As well as his lyrics are a lot more in depth of total Evil! Our music is still /of course/ blacker than bottomless lakes, and even more errie, depressive and deep! The lyrics for the demo was about Vampirism, Witchism, Black Magic etc. this is still our subject, but it’s all in one dark world. All the lyrics belong to teach other, and his lyrics always will. They are of a thousand years to come. Forgotten by time itself!
Did or do you play in other bands besides EMPEROR? And what about Samot, you know, strange to hear that he joins BURZUM, because as Grev said, his band is and will be only a one-piece band...
Mortiis: Yes, he did play in a couple band before. But they are nothing to talk about! Fuck them! Although for one of them the lyrics for “Forgotten Centuries” and “Moon over Karashehr” were written. But for luck never used. All those people, the lowlife human life form, deserve torture! He believes that the Samot/BURZUM thing is because the Count wanted BURZUM to be a live band! Something like that... Anyway, people should be aware that Samot is still in EMPEROR, and hopefully forever will be...
Let’s see your demo... How can you describe your music, and which bands helped to develop it?
Mortiis: Witching Black Metal! No bands helped us create that cursed demo. We are not saying that we are totally original at that time but now we are! Yeah!, but no bands really influenced us so much. Better ask Samot and Steingrimm this question instead! Probably that band that “develop” us must be VENOM, for creating Black Metal itself!
After the BURZUM, MAYHEM, and ABRUPTUM LPs Euro offered a record-deal to you, too. Which trax will be on it, and what do you think, when will you be able to release it?
Mortiis: The LP will come in the past darkness. We don’t know yet. We’ve got 4 songs mainly worked out, plus he and Ygg are working on two other one. There will be 10 trax all in all! Besides of two guitars, bass and drums /session, but we haven’t found any yet!. There will be constant synth, piano parts, female vocals, cello etc... The studio will be filled up with several instruments... It will be massive for sure! Some titled: “The Stargate”, “Emperor of a Dimension Unknown”, “Chronicles”..., “Reflections of Horizons Dark”, “In the October Frost”, “Gathering Ancient Wisdom /and a New Soul/”, and more!
Something has happened in North-Europe, especially in Norway. Just see, The BURZUM LPs, the second DARKTHRONE LP, and bands with great demos, like ENSLAVED or EMPEROR. Can we speak about a new Black Metal generation or reborn? How do you see the true scene in 2-3 years?
Mortiis: The true and evil Black Metal generation is born! In 2-3 years there will be alot less goodness around! Hopefully he will get to move out of his parents’ house and do some pain to humanity!
Let’s see your life... Do the members live together? Do you have time besides the band for your hobbies /if you have/? And what about the financial side, are you working or going to school?
Mortiis: He is not of this earth. It took him almost 17 years to realize the essence of his soul is not of earth! no, the members do not live together. Samot is at some place in cold Norway. Steingrim is living with his father and other times his mother. Mortiis /Him/ lives with his earthly “guardians” right now. We have no hobby. Our lifes are dark. Our band rehearses seldom these days. But we seem to be getting things together taking the situation into consideration! Both him and Ygg is still doing the school. So financially our lifes are not such interesting...
You inspired by the events of Adolf Hitler. What do you think, is Nazism still alive and will it rise again?
Mortiis: As for today’s Nazism, he doesn’t care about it. If some extreme violence is caused by them, it will be shown on TV. And he will get to see it eventually anyway... Those nazi leaders of today are probably intelligent and all that, but none of them could ever stand up to the genive status that Hitler had. He read a couple of books about Hitler about 2 years ago. And few people know that Hitler drove his sister’s daughter to suicide. And if it hadn’t been for some people who guarded him day and night, he would have killed himself, too. And then there wouldn’t have been any World War II. If the new Nazism rises or not it’s unimportant to him. At least, they are causing lots of pain and fear...
Sooner or later the world will have end... What do you prefer, a new and final World War or natural disasters?
Mortiis: They both sound tempting. Though a war would mean a modern day elimination.

There is so much of vampire Count Orlok in “Nosferatu” that isn’t Bill Skarsgård: facial prosthetics, creepy undead makeup, eerily long fingers. The deep rumbling roar, though? All Skarsgård, all the time.
It needed to be him, the Swedish actor argues. So much so that when the idea of modulating Skarsgård’s voice down (for max creepiness) was brought up, he was “vehemently against” it and ready to go to battle if needed.
“I was like, ‘Please, please don't. You can amplify it and you can make it echo-y and you can project it more.’ But I wanted that piece of the performance to be me,” says Skarsgård, 34.
He’s a favorite of the horror community for his fiendish take on Pennywise in the hit “It” movies. But playing Orlok in director Robert Eggers’ “Nosferatu” (in theaters now), an undead Romanian vampire obsessed with young German woman Ellen Hutter (Lily-Rose Depp), marked a more all-encompassing experience than being an evil clown, Skarsgård says. “There was just a lot more factors going into it with voice work and voice warm-up and having everything prepared and being able to activate the character.”
Orlok cuts a formidable figure made even more disconcerting by his constant wheeze, rolling R’s and guttural dialogue. But to get just the right pitch, Skarsgård worked with Icelandic opera singer Ásgerður Júníusdóttir on lowering his own voice an octave for the full Orlok.
“A lot of it was just the technicality of rooting the voice as deep as you can in your body and using your entire body to make the voice resonate,” says Skarsgård, who took tips from the opera star like “place the voice out of your forehead.”
Skarsgård perfected Orlok's tone in his living room. “I was so relaxed and it was just like the most vibrant my voice has ever gotten,” he says. And then he used the tools he learned to get it right when the cameras rolled: Skarsgård built a 20-minute routine for himself where he’d warm up his voice – but not too warm, “because I needed that gravelliness to it” – and then would do vocal exercises between takes as well as “a lot of Mongolian throat singing just to have it active and deeply placed.”
As if that wasn’t involved enough, there was an extra degree of difficulty added in those moments where Orlok speaks Dacian, an extinct language, in scenes where the vampire communicates with Ellen via their psychic connection. And with all of it, Skarsgård was able to make Orlok's personality pop.
‼️‼️Spoiler Under The Cut‼️‼️
In one scene where Ellen’s estate agent husband Thomas (Nicholas Hoult) has come to Orlok’s Transylvanian castle to sign papers on the vampire’s new German property, Thomas nicks his finger with a knife while cutting bread. Skarsgård wanted to play around with the voice a little when Orlok sees the blood: He sent Eggers a voice memo he recorded titled “Tiger growl.” Which speaks for itself.
So when Orlok's signature wheeze turns into a low, hungry growl, “you feel him being excited. He’s so exhilarated,” Skarsgård said. “I wanted something that would add to the tension there. I was really happy with how that played.” •

9-1-1 REACTION
I’m going to make this quick. Eddie Diaz, please come to the carpet. Thank you. Okay, you’re here. Eddie … you’re an asshole. Now go away.
Well, ladies and gents and non-binary icons, your mom and dad’s favorite show is back after a much-needed hiatus. I will admit, I wasn’t too excited about this episode. Now don’t get me wrong. Season 8 got off to a great start with the beenado and Athena landing a commercial jet on the 405. Then we got one of my favorite episodes of the season, maybe even of the series – “Masks” – which had everything I could ever want out of this show: the 118 decked out in Halloween costumes, Bobby doing a bad Transylvanian accent, Buck and Josh with mustaches, and scenes of domestic bliss between Buck and his then-boyfriend, Tommy. It was an amazing episode and shout-out to Aisha Hinds who really sold that traumatic car crash scene. Then things took a turn for the worse. Eddie shaved off his mustache and Gerrard became … likeable?!? Oh, and there was the whole mess with the fake TV show and the annoying actor. I fell asleep on that episode – a first for any episode of the 9-1-1 franchise. Thankfully, the writers seemed to understand that the last handful of episodes sucked so they brought out the big guns in this episode. Before I dive into the latest episode, let me tell you a little bit about the episode. This reaction is for the season 8, ninth episode “Sob Stories” which originally aired March 6, 2025. Tim Minear and Rashad Raisani are responsible for the teleplay and they both along with writer Matt Solik wrote the story. The episode was directed by Bradley Buecker. Without further ado, let’s talk about the episode.
We began the episode with Maddie taking a phone call. Thirty seconds into the episode I turn to my mom and say: “Damn, she already crying.” At this point, there should be a drinking game based solely on the number of times Jennifer Love Hewitt opens her tear ducts. Now I have to give it to my 90s scream queen. Ms. Hewitt knows how to give you drama and I live every single time. I just wasn’t expecting her to be sobbing so quickly into the episode even though the episode is called “Sob Stories”. Anyways, Maddie gets a call from a man named John who is in the middle of an emotional crisis. Midway during the call, he reveals that he has kidnapped a young girl. Maddie dispatches police to the location where the call is coming from but when Athena and other law enforcement arrive at the scene, John nor his captive are there.
Maddie and Athena team up and meet with Detective Amber Braeburn (played by Abigail Spencer) and the three ladies talk about Maddie’s call. Amber believes the kidnapper is Richard Bullock, a registered sex offender, who is linked to three other kidnappings. Athena suggests bringing Richard in for questioning, but Amber says she can’t because she’s gone after him so many times and has come up empty-handed. Richard ended up filing a complaint with the city which means Amber can’t go near him. Someone else will need to talk with him. Athena volunteers as tribute.
Athena goes to the transient hotel where Richard is staying and talks with his girlfriend, Isabelle (played by Frankie Ingrassia). Turns out, Isabelle kicked Richard out after she caught him hitting on a couple of underaged girls. She tells Athena the last time she heard from Richard was the previous weekend. Athena shows her a photo of the young girl that is missing but Isabelle doesn’t recognize her. Athena, again, asks her to reveal Richard Bullock’s whereabouts. In the next scene, Athena and Amber arrive at the location to find it empty. However, they do find what they believe is the abducted girl’s blood and her wallet.
Meanwhile, back at dispatch, Maddie gets a call from Richard. He tells her that he hasn’t hurt the girl, but he doesn’t know how long he can wait without doing so. So, what happens next is wild! My girl Maddie formerly Buckley currently Han coaches Richard, on a recorded line, while Josh and Sue listen on, to off himself. And guess what!? Richard follows through. Meanwhile, Athena and LAPD arrive at Richard’s location and find him dead. Thankfully, the girl he kidnapped is safe and unharmed although I suspect she’s going to need a lot of therapy to deal with everything she has been through.
“Because of you, no lost child will ever have to suffer at his hands again.” – Detective Amber Braeburn
As the smoke settles, Maddie, Athena, and Amber reconvene and discuss everything that has transpired. Maddie harbors guilt over Richard’s death by suicide. She laments she should have kept him talking for a little while long, providing Athena enough time to find him alive. Athena reminds Maddie that Richard’s been faking the location of his whereabouts and there was a strong chance she and the police ended up at the wrong house again. Amber suggests that maybe Richard wanted to take his own life. Maddie says she knows that Richard was a bad person, but his pain was real. She wonders if she will be able to get his voice out of her head. To make Maddie feel better, Amber reveals that while searching the final location, they found evidence of other victims. Athena tells Maddie that she helped stop a monster. She then tells Maddie to go home and hug Jee-Yun and then have a big scotch. Um, perhaps Athena doesn’t know, but I could have sworn Maddie announced she was pregnant during the last few episodes. I don’t know why but that line really didn’t sit right with me. Maddie is still pregnant, right? I did fall asleep on the last episode, but I don’t recall any mention of her losing the pregnancy. So, yeah. Go home, Maddie. Hug my girl Jee. But please don’t drink anything other than water or whatever your doctor says you can have.
Before we talk about that final scene, let’s switch over to the episode’s B-story. While cleaning the firehouse, Eddie reveals to Buck his plans to purchase a home in El Paso so he can be closer to Christopher. The way Eddie drops this information on Buck is a bit insensitive to me. In fact, insensitivity seems to be the theme of our secondary plot. Buck, of course, is taken aback by the news, even though he understands why Eddie is wanting to move back home. I want to point out that from beginning to end, Buck is in total understanding of why Eddie is planning to leave Los Angeles. Eddie tells Buck that he’s already put down a downpayment on a home and this floors Buck. Eddie’s whole attitude in this scene is very dismissive and nonchalant. Buck asks if Eddie has talked to Bobby yet. Eddie says ‘no’ and asks Buck to keep things under wraps until he gets around to having that conversation. Eddie also lets Buck know that he needs to figure out what to do with his home in L.A. otherwise he will be bleeding cash. Hm, it seems to me Eddie you should have thought about that first before you started buying houses somewhere else. Eddie says he’s tired of parenting via FaceTime which … sigh … Eddie, this is really your fault. It was you who decided to blow up your life by dating a woman who looked exactly like your dead wife. It was you who made the decision to bring this woman into your home where you knew there was a strong chance your girlfriend and son could find you. I still feel like Eddie has work to do in the accountability department but that’s neither here nor there at this point. Oh, and Buck, always the good friend, volunteers to help Eddie get his house in order so he can sublet it.
We then get a scene where a Basset hound is picked up and taken to a shelter. The shelter catches fire and it’s the 118 to the rescue. In true Buck fashion, he puts himself in danger to save the sweet angel baby. Let me just say, this adorable little dog gets more screentime this episode than Hen, Chimney, and Bobby.
“Los Angeles was actually a job opportunity. I have no ties here. Everything that matters is in Texas.” – Eddie Diaz
We head over to Eddie’s where we see a montage of families stopping by to check out the house. Admittedly, Buck is sabotaging Eddie’s efforts in this scene, but it’s done in such a way that I can’t tell if it’s intentional or not. I do believe that Buck wants to support Eddie. He wants to see his best friend repair his relationship with his son. But Buck is also concerned about his relationship with Eddie. Let’s not forget that Buck is most likely still dealing with his breakup with Tommy. Losing two of the people closest to him is a tough pill to swallow and I wish Eddie could be more understanding. When the last prospect arrives, Eddie tells Buck he will handle it alone and sends Buck on his way. As Buck is leaving, he hears Eddie tell the family that he only came to Los Angeles for a job opportunity and that he has no ties here. Now I know Eddie didn’t know that Buck was eavesdropping but that’s still a shitting thing to say where Buck is there or not.
When Eddie shows up to work the next day, he sees Buck with one of the dogs they rescued the day prior. He asks Buck about the dog. Buck says that the dog is his new best friend. There is some one-sided tension coming from Buck who ultimately reveals Eddie’s plans to leave Los Angeles. This forces Eddie’s hand, and he comes clean to Bobby, Hen, and Chimney about leaving L.A. to move home to El Paso. Bobby and Chimney are clearly shocked by the announcement but Hen, being the reasonable one of the group, commends Eddie for moving back home to fix things with Christopher. Eddie is pissed and you know what? I’ll let him have it. He asked Buck to keep the news to himself. However, it’s what happens in the last scene that really has me Team Buck when all is said and done.
“If you’re going to make this about me having to choose between you or my son, you’re going to lose every time.” – Eddie “Asshole” Diaz
The owners of the dog come to the firehouse and Buck is left feeling abandoned yet again. He shows up to Eddie’s place later that evening and the latter clearly doesn’t want him there. Eddie has another appointment to show the house, and he doesn’t want Buck to ruin things. Buck tells Eddie he only needs a few seconds, and Eddie says one of the most hurtful things he could say to someone like Buck. He accuses Buck of always making everything about him which is so untrue. Perhaps that was Buck 1.0 but Buck has always put the needs of others, especially the people he cares about most, before his own. Eddie, what a shitty thing to say. This is the same man who helped raise your child and who would continue to do so had you not fucked everything up. Buck tries to fix things, but Eddie is relentless. He tells Eddie that he didn’t mean to out him in front of the others. Eddie rejects that and tells him that he got mad, and he acted like he always does. Again, where is all this coming from? Eddie tells Buck that if he needs to be pissed off then he should be pissed off. Buck admits he was pissed off and admits to Eddie he is having trouble dealing with the idea of Eddie not being around. Let me just say, I think Buck is so mature in this scene. He is able to calmly articulate his feelings about the situation. Eddie tells Buck that if it comes down to him and Christopher, he will choose Christopher every single time. Now Eddie has said some pretty hurtful things to Buck over the years but this, by far, is the most hurtful thing he has ever said. Also, it was completely unnecessary for him to say such a thing because Buck has always understood his placement in Eddie’s life. Christopher comes first. Hell, I think Buck places Christopher ahead of Eddie as well. It was rude and it was a low-blow and at this point, I’m ready to call the U-Haul so Eddie can pack his shit and get gone. Bring Ravi or Lucy back! We don’t need you, Diaz!
To Buck’s credit, he sits and takes everything Eddie throws at him until Bobby, Hen, and Chimney arrive to take Eddie out. This was the plan all along. Buck then reveals his plans to get rid of his loft and take over Eddie’s lease while he’s gone. What makes this moment so satisfying is that it’s proof that Buck is always putting others over himself. He made this decision because of how much he cares about Eddie and Christopher. The two hug it out but I would like to point out that Eddie never officially apologizes to Buck which, if you’ve been watching the show like I have, is a common thing. Buck insta-forgives his friend and things are good. Buck, my friend, you deserve a better friend.
“You’re gonna be so mad at me.” – Detective Amber Braeburn
The episode ends with Maddie reading to Jee. When Maddie leaves the room, she heads into the kitchen to wash dishes. The front door opens, and she thinks it’s Chimney. A masked figure approaches her and knocks her over the head. When Maddie comes to, she sees that it’s Detective Amber Braeburn. The episode ends there and I reckon we’ll find out what happens next a week from now.
Okay, I’m officially back on the 9-1-1 train again. Especially now that it’s the only 9-1-1 we have now. This episode does what the show does best. We got an exciting emergency with the shelter fire. We got Athena doing some detective work. We also got to see a pairing that’s always excited me and one we don’t get off on this show. Athena and Maddie were reunited and damn it felt so good. I like seeing Angela and Jennifer share the screen because their acting styles suit one another. As for our other duo, this episode really endeared me to Buck while simultaneously making me dislike Eddie. I do believe that Eddie had some valid reasons to be mad at Buck, but I really felt like he went for the jugular when expressing his frustrations. And what gets me, what always gets me, is how no matter how bad things get between the two, Buck immediately apologizes and forgives. Eddie never apologizes. When he treated Buck poorly during the lawsuit, he never once apologized yet Buck forgave him instantly. I know Buddie fans would disagree, but this is not a healthy friendship. I’ve always thought that for a long time. In fact, I think Buck’s better friend is actually Hen.
So, Eddie is really leaving Los Angeles. I know I really went in on him this episode, but I have to admit his character has brought something good to the show. In the first season, there was a bit of a disconnect with Buck and the other characters due to the difference in age. Bringing Eddie into the show helped to bridge the gap between Buck and the rest of the 118. It was fun watching them go from being frenemies to actual friends to brothers. I know there are still some unfortunate souls out there trying to ship them but I think this episode serves as more proof that Eddie and Buck are best friends. Nothing more, nothing less. As for our cliffhanger at the end of the episode, I am admittedly a bit tired of Maddie always being placed in danger. However, I must say that having the serial killer being a woman is a refreshing addition to the story. I’m anxious to see what happens next. I feel like next episode is going to be dark. I guess we’ll have to wait to learn Maddie’s fate. Until next time …

Alright, I need to know.
ROCKY HORROR CHARACTERS REACTIONS TO ROCKY HORROR AND THE FANDOM BY EXTENSION
(Either with or without the context of they literally lived the plot of the movie, you decide)
(Also Shock Treatment reactions would be funny too)
AHAAHAHAAHJEQQEIJS YESSSS!!! (I have decided that they all 100% lived the context of the movie BUT they didn't live the plot of Shock Treatment! (No offense to Shock Treatment ily Shock Treatment I promise. That's personally just the funniest for me to imagine lol)
Frank: Frank will not shut up about being the star. It just goes a little bit too far over his head that he's the antagonist of the show. I think that (while of course Tim Curry did NOT) Frank needed aggressive autotuning to get his pieces into the show and he's objectively the only person who doesn't notice it, and that blindness is fully for the better. He thinks that the dramatic music playing at his death isn't meant to be camp! He doesn't care that the movie depicts his death because he believes himself to be a beautiful martyr! He thinks that the movie created him as an angel of the highest caliber and will NOT. SHUT. UP about it!!! His one and only desire was for the sex scenes to not cut away so he could prove how good he was! He brags chronically to everybody else about all of the fan-content he receives and he is in his glory about all of this! He always knew he was this special! And he is! But don't tell him that!
Frank's Shock Treatment reaction: Oh God. He cannot handle the fact that he isn't in Shock Treatment at all and he throws an absolute FIT that just gets chronically worse every time someone else that he recognizes shows up. He ends the movie screaming like a banshee. He can't even really bring himself to care about the content at all. He's not there! He's gone from being the absolute center of attention to having purely nothing! He sings a very dramatic, devastated, and off key song about how nobody sees him anymore and Riff is about ready to throw a rock at his head
Brad: Brad was hoping against hope that the movie wasn't going to reveal his bisexuality. He really was. Of course, it happened to be revealed front and center and everybody was enjoying it! Everyone else, even Janet, was snickering at the fact that Frank's classic lines worked on him too. When questioned, Riff and Mag confirmed that Frank had used that exact dialogue on a record number of Transylvanians and Earthlings. Even Doctor Scott was smiling at him and giving him the look that said, "you needed a gentle nudge out of the closet, dear" later questioning confirmed that "What? You knew the whole time??" "For the better part of two decades I lived with Eddie and everybody that he brought home. You were quite easy to spot, Brad." He was absolutely THRILLED to be titled as "Brad Majors: a hero" and a little bit bummed to find out that the internet wasn't viewing him as Superman, and instead they'd made a tradition of yelling "ASSHOLE!" But the amount of love that the fandom gives him regardless was somewhat surprising and he's very happy!
Brad's Shock Treatment reaction: The gang starts calling him "Mental Hospital Majors" effective immediately. He then has to walk a very fine line between begging everyone to understand that he isn't insane, and begging his parents to tell him that he doesn't have a long lost twin brother. He's also been taking wild measures to ensure that Janet's parents like him. They have to keep reminding him not only do they like him, but their names are not actually Emily and Harry! He sees enough legal and medical proof to confirm that he doesn't have a twin and then tells himself that if he had a long lost twin that he would "feel it" which causes Riff Raff and Magenta to feel the need to inform him that that's not how twins work, but he's OK!
Janet: Deep down, Janet enjoys everyone seeing her like this. She really does. She tries her best to hide it, but she really is no good at lying! She does feel a little bit scared having everyone see her cry over seeing Brad cheat on her. She isn't super afraid of the floor show sequence, because she was right. She did feel more confident!!! It was more nervous anticipation for her than anything else, and she even told Brad that he was sexy and should feel that way! She secretly LOVES that they call her slut!! She's proud of it a bit and feels like this is a way for her to live as Brad's normal wife and the universe's slut! She loves that the fandom seems to respect her a whole lot!! She doesn't recieve a lot of hate and most people seem to genuinely like her!
Janet's Shock Treatment Reaction: Janet still likes the attention and she loved how sexy she looked, but she does feel the need to get everybody to assure her that she isn't that easy to trick and drug! The response was a mix of people lying and promising her that she's not that easy and people telling her "weeeelllll...." she wasn't sure if they were joking, but it's honestly probably for the best! If anything, it's a wake up call for her, but she'll be just fine!!!
Riff Raff: Riff is honestly thrilled with every little piece of attention he gets! Frank's told him that he's so forgettable all the time that he let out an audible gasp when he got his own verse in Over at the Frankenstein Place and got to belt out the first verse of the Time Warp!!! He feels really proud to be the most difficult vocal role in the show all things considered, even if he didn't have a number to call his own! He was the one with the sharp eyes at the beginning of the movie to see the old, bald, and gray version of himself with priest Frank and Magenta and Columbia in wigs and to say "... what is that?" Once he did, everyone else was just as confused. He'd later go on however to fall to the ground laughing so hard that he cried over the idea of Frank being a priest. He was really excited and proud to see himself during the Floor Show sequence in his big revolution, but he got more than a bit shy when they showed the "THEY NEVER LIKED MEEEEEEE" but everyone comforted him, telling him that it just made him more likable! He's VERY proud that the show's creator chose to play him. It feels like the world's highest honor! As for the fandom, the response that he gets is a pretty mixed bag and it's more than he hoped for! He honestly enjoys seeing people theorize about all of his motives and he loves that there are people out there who love him! He doesn't spend too much time focusing on any hate that he gets, and that keeps him happy!
Riff Raff's Shock Treatment Reaction: First of all, Shock Treatment got brownie points out the gate because (As much as I do love this script as well) he's fully thrilled that Revenge of the Old Queen didn't make it. He wasn't thrilled at all with his portrayal in that script and seeing himself as as Cosmo McKinley the character actor pretending to be a doctor? He is MORE than ok with that!!! That being said, he did shriek a little bit when he saw himself 100% bald. He pulled himself together afterwards, though, and he did find it someone eerie and hilarious that the Little Black Dress bit was 100% accurate. He loves little black dresses and if Janet ever asked him for advice, that is exactly what he would suggest! It was 100% the highlight of the show for him!!
Magenta: Magenta LOVED her portrayal in Rocky Horror. She didn't have to scream "YEAH SURE FILM ME FROM THAT ANGLE WHY DON'T YA?" even one time because she felt like they'd filmed her just right and that she looked fully gorgeous! She also loved the way that they captured her wit and sass. She was especially thrilled when they showed her "Master! Dinner is prepared!" And her yawning during I'm Going Home! She's really in love with the fandom as well! They're so kind to her!! Pretty much everything that she receives is completely positive and she's gotten INCREDIBLE support! Of course, she really does take it with a flavor of "fuck yeah I am!" She knows 100% that she deserves all of the love that she receives, and she's never been more right in her life!!
Magenta's Shock Treatment reaction: Magenta really did enjoy seeing herself as Nation! She felt like she had as much of a presence as ever and she loved her verses!!! She did love to tease Riff about his hair the whole time, though. She laughed when he shrieked and it was fantastic! They're siblings your honor! They really are! She made comments throughout with her usual sass and she felt like it was a really great time!
Columbia: Columbia thought that the whole movie was an AMAZING time and she's the one who led the callouts!!! She'd come up with new ones constantly and gave a little shriek and jump for joy every time somebody new came on!!! It got to the point where everyone was like "THERE'S YOU COLUMBIA!!" When she finally made her entrance!! She was really excited that her tap routine made it on screen and she kept pointing out little details to everybody!! Riff whispered "sorryyyyy" to her during her death scene and she laughed and told him that they were all good and that he was in a really dire situation! (She's the most forgiving soul in the universe!) She wants to play herself in the live show SO BADLY! She loves the fandom! It's such a fantastic time for her and she's so happy that the fandom is so kind to her and the situation is all perfect to her!! She's incredibly grateful!!!
Columbia's Shock Treatment reaction: Columbia totally loves herself as Ansalong. She feels that her essance and spirit is there and just as powerful as before!!! She doesn't care that the plot doesn't center on her as much because she loves dancing and singing and seeing herself as Ansalong really does speak to her love of acting and "play-pretend!" She feels like she'd fully love to play Ansalong in a movie or live show! Not in real life, but in a show!
Rocky: Rocky was clapping and cheering the whole movie!! At his age, he really couldn't quite comprehend what was happening, even though it was his own life! He's in that fun age where he can't really piece together a story and is just in awe of all of the visuals and the excitement and aesthetic of what feels like it's happening! He was dancing to the music, and he knew he loved it by how bright and colorful it was!!! He did recognize everyone including himself, though!! He just was thinking "Its me! It's Brad! It's Janet! We look so cool and amazing AAAAAAA" Rocky really isn't quite ready to understand the fandom, but he loves what he sees a whole lot! People love him a whole lot and he can tell!!!
Rocky's Shock Treatment reaction: Rocky loves it a whole lot! Again, he has no idea what's happening for the most part! But it's music and pretty and he loves it! He asked very loudly "IF THAT'S BRAD AND JANET, WHY ARE THEY DIFFERENT?" at one point and they had to quietly explain recasting to him. He still couldn't quite get it as hard as they tried, though! He still really loved it all! And that's what really matters!
Eddie: Eddie understands that his time in the film was small, but it's really the best thing that could ever happen to him!!! He's seen as a true rockstar singing a true rock song!!! Well, maybe he's not seen as all that, he was a bit pissed when they credited him as "an ex delivery boy" instead of "a rockstar" but that number is all he's ever wanted in life!!! He wanted a music video, and all things considered that's kind of what he got!! He was like "awwww you two!" to Columbia and Scotty in an upbeat way when Eddie's Teddy came on and also like "hey wtf why are you outing my past like that?" And they're like "we thought you were dead!" And he's like "fair enough!" He shocked everybody by laughing his ass off when his body got revealed!!! He actively asked to rewind and then he laughed even harder. He also finds it hilarious that in most live shows he's played by the same actor that plays Doctor Scott. He'll say "look it's us!" at either of their scenes and so will Scotty! He really does appreciate the fandom! For his small presence, he gets a lot of love! He's wanted fans so long with his rock and roll dreams so this is TOTALLY a dream come true for him!!! He's living his best life like never before!!!
Eddie's Shock Treatment reaction: Eddie is somewhat upset that he isn't in Shock Treatment, but he also feels deep down that his "blaze of glory" may not be as strong if he came back to life after the excellent win that was Hot Patootie Bless my Soul. He knows he'll have more hit numbers on the radio, however, he does take the opportunity to make a dramatic speech about going out in a blaze of glory about how the world must carry on after we all die and it's so melodramatic. Doctor Scott tried to stop him, he really did, but Columbia was loving it so much that she was crying and so he let him keep going! Eddie did love watching Columbia as Ansalong! He thought that his girl was so perfect in that role and he loved watching her! Especially in "Look What I did to my I.D"! He really wishes that that song title was still up for grabs SO BAD, but if it had to be used by someone else, this is exactly where it belongs!
Doctor Scott: Doctor Scott loved his part in the movie, though he wished that he'd been credited as "a scientist" instead of "a rival scientist" overall, he felt like the movie did a great job with him! He absolutely ADORED the way that the camera made it look like he was talking to the audience when he was talking to himself!! There was however a drawback- he needed to see Brad and Janet in those situations!! To say that he breathed the world's biggest sigh of relief at the cutoff/fade to black would be the understatement of the universe. They didn't really like that he saw that stuff either, so that was a massive relief as well! He was really excited to get a number of his own! It made him smile a whole lot! Though he did take the time throughout to remind Eddie that he was loved!!! The fandom actually makes him really happy! He knows that he doesn't quite get the same level of attention, but seeing people, young and old, drawing, writing, dressing up, and being so happy is a joy to him! He'd never have it in him to go to a showing himself, he can't handle that chaos, but he loves knowing that they happen! Young people are happy!
Doctor Scott's Shock Treatment reaction: He enjoys the similar playfulness of the script and he LOVES the gameshow setting! He loves gameshows a whole lot and is really excited to see that setting! He isn't too upset that he's not in the show, he doesn't know how much chaos he's got left in him! But the gameshow setting is really what puts it over the top for him!!! He loves watching them drive off at the end as well! It puts the world's biggest smile on his face!!!! If he ever teaches again, he decides that he will 100% be putting "the sun never sets for those who ride into it!" On his desk or chalkboard for students! He finds those words so inspiring!!
The Criminologist: Oh this is absolutely his superbowl. This is the greatest fucking thing to ever happen to him. All of the rambling on his own, attempts to look professional and series, and his desires to speak about his cases so powerfully have finally come to light! He feels like such a fucking badass when he hears himself say "I would like, if I may, to take you on a strange journey" and he is THRILLED every time he comes back on screen! He feels so proud to have gotten everything right! He is an expert! And he's an expert that dances the time warp on his desk! (That was a massive win for Riff and Mag) He was also very happy with the film's ending!!! Those are the proudest lines he's ever written and he got to end the show on that high note! Either way, this is the thing that deep down he's always wanted to do but thought that he'd never be able to do and he is HAPPY!! The fandom makes him so happy as well! He knows that he doesn't get a whole lot of attention, but he feels like that means that he's done his work and he's proud of it!
The Criminologist's Shock Treatment reaction: The Criminologist was upset to find out that he didn't get to narrate the case again, he really was, but then the movie kept playing and he did love seeing himself as Judge Oliver Wright! He likes to imagine that he's part of the cases sometimes! To be in on all the action and he saw it happen with his own eyes this time and he loved it! He was working with Brad Majors! To imagine being the boyfriend of Betty Hapschatt??? He'd never had the thought!!! It was such a fun time and he was so excited the whole time to be part of the story!!! He isn't about to make a move on Betty Hapschatt, but it was a lovely experience!!!

Fun Opinion:
Sherlock/Dracula crossover novels have to put Sherlock in the middle of the Dracula plot because if he investigated post-event, the Team of Light would look... very sketchy.
(These points are made from memory of the plot - top of my head - I did check SparkNotes to verify some but correct me if I'm wrong lol).
The file they have at the conclusion to prove their story is made mostly from copies of statements made by the group themselves (the original recordings/diary entries being destroyed by Dracula).
The most notable figures that could back up their claims are dead. (Jonathan's boss, Lucy's mother, Lucy herself, Renfield, Quincey Morris).
The deaths of these people are... suspicious. (The guard was asleep when Renfield was attacked, Jonathan's boss died from a timely illness, Lucy's maids were drugged the night Lucy's mother died, Lucy was alone with members of the group when she died, Quincey Morris dies in the wilderness observed only by members of the group).
Some of those deceased people have left significant wealth to members of the group (The previous Lord Godalming, Lucy's mother, Lucy & Jonathan's Boss).
The only person of the group who did not significantly gain anything during this time (money, business, a title) died in the Transylvanian wilderness.
The original narrative could still be true - Dracula was a vampire. He did kill Renfield, Lucy, her mother, and Quincey Morris. But who is going to believe that when the evidence is: it happened. I swear it did.
Also rich people getting away with murder - Sherlock would eat that up.
*edit: It was not stated in canon that Quincey was buried in Transylvania - sorry 😅

Today my dad let me look through his records and take what I wanted and. Tell me why this man had 3 separate copies of the time warp. Is he on speaking terms with richard o'brien or something??? 3 copies?? What for?? Ok for context my dad is a dj so he has lots of records. But what party or event would you need to play the time warp 3 times?? With 3 entirely separate discs no less?? Was my dad the dj at the annual transylvanian convention??? I have questions.

Dracula Daily - May 8
Hi! My name’s Qwerty and I’ll be your Dracula tour guide today 😊
Please find below a summary of each day's events as well as clarifications and explanations for any words, phrases, or customs that may not be super familiar to folks who don’t read 19th Century literature regularly.
My plan is to do this for every update, so I’ll be releasing them concurrently with any correspondences we have from our mutual friend Jonathan -- and anyone else we meet along the way!
Summary
Jonathan reflects how glad he is that he went into so much detail in previous entries because he feels more and more uneasy and having a ready record reassures him of everything that is happening.
Staying up night after night is wearing him down and he is worried that he may be the only truly livinghuman in the castle. He resolves to write down everything as he remembers it, so he knows imagination took no part in it. He fears that if he starts letting imagination in he will lose himself entirely.
After only a few hours sleep Jonathan tries to shave in his tiny mirror. He is startled by the Count, not least of all because he could not see his reflection in the mirror, despite being able to see the whole room. Indeed, the Count is right behind him but there is no reflection! Very strange!
Jonathan had accidentally cut himself, revealing this to the Count as he turns around looking for a sticking plaster (Victorian bandaid). The Count's eyes immediately zero in on the fresh blood and he makes a sudden grab for Jonathan's throat. As Jonathan backs away from fright, the Count's hand brushes against the crucifix and he withdraws immediately. He warns Jonathan not to cut himself as it is more dangerous than he thinks, especially in this country. He grabs the mirror instead and throws it out the window in a fury, saying it is a mark of vanity, before leaving. Jonathan is annoyed. How is he meant to shave now?!
Jonathan finds breakfast prepared again, with the Count nowhere to be seen. He reflects he has yet to see the Count eat or drink. After breakfast he goes exploring. He finds a view of the countryside, which is very beautiful, but confirms that the castle is on a high, tall cliff -- a stone would fall a thousand feet! All around is wilderness and forest. But he cannot focus on the beauty surrounding him. All he sees are locked doors. One after the other. There is no exit other than the windows. He is a prisoner! A "wild" feeling comes over him as he rushes from room to room, looking for any exit. There is none. He feels hopeless. Then he tries to figure out his best course of action. He chooses not to talk to the Count about it. Clearly, this was his plan. He just needs to figure out why. Or he is being paranoid ... He will need to be alert and focused. He hears the Count return and finds him making Jonathan's bed. This confirms that there are no servants. That the Count is doing everything himself. He and Jonathan are alone! He must have also been the driver. Jonathan has a new wave of fear as he wonders what kind of powers the Count has to be able to stop the wolves as he did on the way to the castle. He reflects how scared everyone was for him going up to the castle, and how they all tried to stop him and give him gifts. He thinks fondly of the woman who gave him the crucifix, taking comfort in it. He wonders at this, as he is Protestant, not Catholic. He resolves to ask the Count questions that night over dinner, trying not to raise his suspicions. He asks about Transylvanian history, which the Count warms up to considerably. He speaks as though he was there personally (or as Jonathan hypothesises, like royalty, using the royal "we").
He traces his lineage through several cultures, including connecting himself to Norse Myth and Attila the Hun. He romanticises the way his family conquered various people, scorns one ancestor for selling his people into slavery and servitude, and praises another who fought the Turks and refused defeat. He dismisses other royal family dynasties like the Hapsburgs and the Romanoffs as nothing more than fungal growths and says the current peacetime is "dishonourable". It's giving Make Transylvania Great Again. As he goes to bed, Jonathan reflects that his life seems to be mirroring the Arabian Nights or Hamlet, a night time existence full of terror, only relieved by the dawn.
Clarifications and Explanations
Boyar - A boyar was a member of the highest rank of the feudal aristocracy in Eastern Europe, particularly in Russia, Romania, and other Slavic and Balkan regions, just below the ruling princes or tsars. Boyars were land-owning nobles who held military and administrative power and often served as advisors to the monarch.
The Crucifix - In Victorian England, Protestants, especially Anglicans and Evangelicals, often viewed crucifixes with suspicion, associating them with Catholic “idolatry” and superstition, whereas Catholics embraced them as tangible reminders of Christ’s sacrifice and protective symbols imbued with spiritual power. Protestant emphasis on an unadorned cross highlighted Christ’s resurrection rather than his suffering, and physical religious objects were generally seen as unnecessary or even blasphemous. Jonathan's initial discomfort with the crucifix reflects this Protestant bias.
Attila the Hun - Attila the Hun was the fearsome 5th-century ruler of the Huns, a nomadic warrior people from Central Asia who terrorized the Eastern and Western Roman Empires. Known as the "Scourge of God," Attila led devastating campaigns across Europe, sacking cities and exacting tribute from emperors. Though he never conquered Rome itself, his brutal military tactics and psychological warfare left a lasting impression on European history.
The Hapsburgs and the Romanovs - The Habsburgs (also spelled Hapsburgs) and the Romanovs were two of the most powerful and long-lasting royal dynasties in European history. The Count dismisses these dynasties as "mushroom growths", highlighting his pride and arrogance, suggesting they are upstart nobodies compared to his own ancient, battle-hardened lineage, which he presents as more authentic, heroic, and enduring.
Arabian Nights and Hamlet - Arabian Nights, also known as One Thousand and One Nights, is a collection of Middle Eastern and South Asian folk tales compiled during the Islamic Golden Age, famous for its framing story of Scheherazade, who tells enchanting stories to delay her execution. As long as she keeps telling engaging stories, her husband will not kill her. These stories feature tales of magic, genies, and clever heroes, blending moral lessons with fantastical adventure. Hamlet, by contrast, is a Renaissance tragedy by William Shakespeare that explores themes of revenge, madness, and existential despair, as Prince Hamlet is haunted by the ghost of his father, killed by his treacherous uncle.

Bill Skarsgård: "I'm better than Stellan was at 34"
As a child, he accompanied his father on business trips around the world. Today, it is Bill who brings his family to international film shoots - and terrifies cinema audiences with his bloodthirsty characters.
Even when he was a small child, Bill Skarsgård had seen more of the world than most of us do in a lifetime. When father Stellan filmed, Bill, his younger siblings Valter and Eija and mother My came along to the recordings. Often they were gone for months at a time in countries such as Mexico, the United States and Cambodia.
full article at the link and under the cut
(translated through google)
- It was fantastic to grow up that way, says Bill. Mom homeschooled us, three hours a day. She was a fantastic teacher, so that meant that we were often a month and a half ahead of our classmates back home in Sweden.
It also meant that the three siblings had plenty of time and opportunities to get to know the countries. Bill continues:
- Cambodia is an incredibly poor country, with shootings. To see it as a child, to experience that contrast to life in Sweden... We became friends with the local children, and it was a privilege to see the world so early. It made me more humble and gave me a more complex view of the world. I am incredibly grateful to have been able to experience it.
Which of course leads to the follow-up question about how he himself does it, now that he himself has a successful career with long periods every year when he is away from home in Stockholm. Can the wife Alida and the children come along?
- They come to visit. It was easy now when we were filming in Prague, because if they felt that "now it's boring", then they could go home.
He laughs and says:
- Dad used to spend half of his salary on accommodation. The worst was when he made "The Exorcist" in Rome, then he rented a house that was visited by 70 people during the filming. I haven't gotten there yet, but I'm working on it.
Traveling with Stellan to various film shoots meant that the children sometimes had to come along to watch when dad worked in front of the camera.
- For me, that's the biggest reason why I fell in love with acting and filmmaking. I was completely mesmerized by the advanced illusions that were built. I think children understand acting better than adults do. I saw dad in a mustache and saw it for what it was. Children play thief and police, you dress up. That was a big reason why I chose this job.
Watched "Nosferatu" with dad Stellan as a child
The film that Bill shot in Prague was "Nosferatu" and it is to talk about it that we meet at the Nofo Hotel in Södermalm. Bill unfolds his 192 centimeters on a sofa, wearing a nice bright polo shirt and trousers. He is relaxed and happy, but conscious of keeping the most private things private.
"Nosferatu" is a remake of the silent film classic of the same name, which in turn was a theft of the plot of Bram Stoker's novel "Dracula". Stoker's widow sued the filmmakers and demanded that all copies be destroyed. Fortunately, some survived, and the film is today considered a horror film classic.
Even as a child, Bill saw the original film.
- It was Stellan who introduced me to it. We watched movies together and had a silent film period. We saw Chaplin , we saw "Nosferatu". I thought it was eerie and scary, but Dad also described how it had changed film history. There's something mysterious about that movie.
Bill plays the Transylvanian Count Orlok, who with the help of a broker is looking for a place to live in Germany. Orlok already has some kind of relationship with the broker's wife Ellen, played by Lily-Rose Depp . Perhaps we should mention that Orlok is a vampire and his journey towards and arrival in Germany brings pestilence and death.
Unlike other vampires, such as brother Alexander in the HBO series "True blood", this vampire does not have sharp canines, but is more of a loitering bloodsucker. And Bill looks really grotesque in the film, so one wonders what, for example, actor Lily-Rose Depp thought of playing someone so made up beyond recognition?
- We had many intimate scenes together and we talked a lot about it. She is outstanding in this role. She thought I looked really creepy and unpleasant, and she could use that. Then she knew it was me underneath. It helped.
- When the vampire sucks blood, it is a form of rape. Here we are as far from "Twilight" and "Interview with the Vampire" as it gets. We go back to the roots. We give the vampire a renaissance.
In recent years, Bill has played many roles in horror films, from the bloodthirsty clown Pennywise in the two "It" films to the television series "Castle Rock" and "Derry", all based on things written by the master of horror Stephen King .
- I don't know why there has been so much horror. I guess I attract a certain type of character and it works the other way too. I never had the ambition to be a horror actor. For me, it's always project-based – what does the script look like, who's the director? Now I'm super saturated when it comes to horror, but if a project comes along that brings something new, I'm interested.
The entire Skarsgårds family lives close to each other
As you know, Bill belongs to a large family. He has seven siblings, some of whom have children. He has a mother My, father Stellan and Stellan's current wife Megan . The jobs around the world mean that it is not always so easy to meet.
- But right now everyone has a base in Sweden, for the first time in a long time. As soon as everyone is home, we will hear from you and then we will see you at our local place in Söder. All live in Söder, ten minutes apart.
And then you see each other at dad Stellan's house, who is a good cook. Bill laughs when I ask if he himself is good at cooking.
- I am better than Stellan was at 34. Food is one of his biggest interests and I have grown up with it and learned. Although there was a lot of stuff like casseroles and Coq au vin, stuff that kids don't really like. And then I have married into the Per Morberg family, and he is also good at cooking.
In addition to constantly appearing on the big screen and in the TV box, the Skarsgård siblings stand out because they are tall, just like their father. They are visible. But Bill doesn't feel like they're being watched.
- There is nowhere where I feel safer than in Söder. I grew up here, I know half of the people who live here. They are probably tired of seeing me. And Swedes are not that pushy. It's probably when someone gets drunk.
"Quite Swedish of me in my clothing style"
Like many of his fellow actors, Bill appears from time to time as a model in fashion ads, including for H&M, while older brother Alexander recently worked with Calvin Klein. He says, with a laugh, that it's not about any fashion passion but that the companies pay well.
- It's fun with clothes, but in private I'm probably quite Swedish in my clothing style. I don't peacock much, but it can be fun to do it for a premiere, together with a stylist or a designer. But my usual clothing style is quite tame. Alex is even worse. There, only Converse, jeans and a t-shirt apply.
When we meet, there are a few weeks left until Christmas and Christmas celebrations with the big family. After the New Year, work awaits with the director Gus Van Sant and his new film "The prince of fashion", where Will Ferrell plays a man who takes his son to fashion week in Paris.
And jobs in Sweden? Yes, maybe.
- There is discussion about a continuation of the television series "Clark". I love that character and working with Jonas Åkerlund. •

Usually I hate Nosferatu memes bc they're fucking bad but there's this one guy who recorded himself in Count Orlick's voice saying "You must BOUNCE on it... crazy style" in a perfect Transylvanian rendition of Nosferatu and I lose it every time.
