One of the biggest things that helped me during my recovery after a toxic relationship full of lies, cheating, and manipulation - was understanding how to be kind to yourself. As an over-thinker as a result of being on the scale, and someone that cares deeply about others, it was excruciating. I emotionally spiralled, not understanding what happened, and why someone, over the space of 3 years, would treat me like that. I argued with them in my head, constantly. I replayed things that happened and was so angry. The way I talked to myself, was not good. It was full of emotion, full of anger, full of confusion, full of the feelings of betrayal. During my recovery process, I learnt I needed to be kind to myself. The little voice in my head needed to be my best friend, needed to be supportive, needed to be understanding. And from that, I could then begin to heal in a positive way. Over time, I gradually stopped that angry voice in my head, told myself there was nothing more that I could do, that I did all I could from a place of love and support and that no matter what I did, they would have done what they did. That?
