I GOT MY BACHELOR'S OF SCIENCE DEGREE TODAY WITH A PERFECT SCORE FOR MY THESIS! A few months ago I asked you guys who'd be willing to be a test user for my graduation project, which was for my thesis, and with a small group of you I've basically done a bunch of interviews, exercises and brainstorms, which resulted in this (Desktop) site: tocomehome.com!
It's a community for disabled young people to find mobility aids for home use. The thing is; every tool is recommended by a real disabled person, who can add a reason why they think the tool is helpful as well as share links for purchasing. You can follow users with your disability, react to their reviews, save your favourite items to a wishlist and recommend handy tools yourself. It's still very much a prototype, hence why there's no mobile version yet, but I wanted to share it. I'm also officially a software engineer now - I accepted a job offer. :D Proof that life keeps on moving forward. Carrying you on its back, if it must.

making my own post because nobody needs my bullshit on their post:
OP:
Reblog 1:
Reblog 2:
My response:
The IRA blogs were here and they were active and they were quite popular; their posting patterns did not match normal tumblr users (i was followed by lagonegirl and followed back only to be put off by the account reblogging the same five or ten posts every hour for a day before selecting another five or ten posts to reblog hourly the next day - it was clear engagement bait).
Tumblr has never been as transparent about these accounts as both Twitter and Facebook were, but several of the accounts had shared names across platforms and you can find a significant amount of data that was released by both facebook (ex: ads purchased by the IRA accounts) and twitter (over three million tweets from IRA accounts). Academic researchers have published papers on the data released from facebook and twitter. Several papers. So many papers. Soooooo many papers. We have a LOT of direct evidence that you can explore for yourself that there were hundreds (possibly thousands) of IRA accounts that were created on Facebook and Twitter. Of those accounts, some shared usernames across platforms, and of those accounts, a few had tumblr accounts that posted the same content on twitter and tumblr.
To quote a buzzfeed news article from the time:
The Russian-run Tumblr accounts used the same, or very similar, usernames as the account names contained on a list of confirmed IRA accounts Twitter submitted to congressional investigators. In some cases, the Tumblr and Twitter account has the same profile image or linked to each other in their bios. Some IRA Tumblrs and Twitter accounts also cross-promoted content between platforms, further linking them together.
Current tumblr user @ alwaysbewoke (who I don't want to tag because I'm sure he's got better things to do) is interviewed in that article and talks about following one of the blogs identified by tumblr as an IRA blog that had a matching account on twitter identified as an IRA account but unfollowing when the left-leaning blog supposedly run by a black creator started rooting for trump in the election.
Dr. Jonathan Albright is heavily quoted in the article; the data review he collaborated on is one of the only reviews of this subject that includes data from Tumblr and Reddit.
One of the claims that I've seen is that tumblr just deleted funny black people, but these were blogs with thousands of followers on tumblr who never recreated, never popped up on another social media site, never started a reddit account after getting banned; nobody ever showed up saying "hey this is 4mysquad, I got banned on tumblr and twitter, follow me to pillowfort". These very popular blogs got deleted and, as far as I know, nobody ever popped up claiming to be a person who was deleted - and it's not like tumblr users haven't figured out how to evade bans.
What you are doing when you make posts saying that the IRA accounts on tumblr never existed is *absolving tumblr of guilt for their utter lack of transparency.*
Tumblr is not the only tech company that has tried to fly under the radar as its larger counterparts face regular scrutiny in Congress and in the press. Earlier this month, Reddit revealed it too had deleted hundreds of accounts with ties to the Internet Research Agency. A WIRED investigation found more than a thousand links to Russian propaganda websites are still live on Reddit, and unearthed two suspicious accounts that Reddit immediately shut down.
So should you believe what Tumblr says? No, because Tumblr has been functionally fucking silent on this issue and the information about this subject aside from the list of blogs has come from the hard work of data scientists, journalists, and researchers.
(For the record; some of those bot accounts that were recorded by Dr. Albright also had Google+ accounts in 2017 - there is every possibility that they had myspace accounts).
Now, the reason that I'm popping onto this post as an annoyed anarchist is that I was tracking a similar group of blogs for a while and was discussing them and I stopped precisely because of the galaxy-brained liberals who are now trying to dunk on communists for criticizing electoralism. One of the people who was following my project was one of the ones who started calling out the "joe biden kills dogs" posts as disinfo and I realized they were using some of the guidelines I'd written up to "identify" misinformation and that is very a rock fucking stupid approach to what was clearly a leftist making jokes and was horrified and realized there was no way that I could continue documenting what I was documenting without someone attempting to call actual leftists russian bots.
I've seen the post that OP is referencing [it's one where someone makes a very obvious joke about the democrat presidential ticket and people jump on to call them a bot and then someone tries to do the "AI tell me a story" thing and OP is just like "I don't want to :(", proving that they are in fact a person and not an AI] and have deeply enjoyed the humor of watching liberals a) not understand a very, VERY obvious joke and b) become the unwitting butt of a joke they were trying to make, but also I am so exhausted by watching normie dems call leftists AI bots after years of watching normie dems call real live actual leftists who hold actual political views that real people actually have, like prison abolition, russian bots.
But I am also so fucking tired of left conspiracism and how stupid it sounds when leftists dismiss a preponderance of evidence that is easily accessible and publicly available for analysis as "lol so you just trust everything tumblr tells you?"
No, dipshit, learn to click a fucking link or twelve.
#because i have to clarify before somebody calls *me* a bot: i vote as harm reduction#I've voted in every presidential election since 2004#i voted dem in 2016 and 2020 even though i loathed the candidates for a number of reasons#so don't blue no matter who me#and maybe after the election try doing some jail support

°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘âđââ˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
Being married to the love of her life was the best thing in the world, sure, and there was nothing Y/n would change.
Except his profession, of course.
It was not that Y/n wanted Rhysand to stop acting. She was proud of his talent. But watching everyone say how good he looked with his fellow actresses got on Y/nâs nerves sometimes.
Not always, but on her bad days, she wished she could keep her husband away.
The day had started off pretty normal. She had woken up, walked downstairs to find her husband eating dinner by himself. It was unusual but nothing out of the ordinary. Rhysand usually refused to eat unless she was eating with him, but on days he had an early interview or a long day scheduled, he was forced to.
She had seen him off, then set to cleaning up and showering. She hadnât wanted to get dressed up as she wanted to be comfortable, so she pulled on her husbandâs loose t-shirt and some grey sweatpants. She had spent the day doing mostly nothing, reading and scrolling on apps.
It was during her scrolling session that she came across a short video edit of her husband and his newest co-worker and also the one most shipped with him, Clair Smith.
Their recent movie had skyrocketed in fame after the insane chemistry between the two, and while Y/n rarely ever got jealous of actresses her husband worked with, the tension between them made even her wonder if there was something going on.
She never doubted his love, of course, but the way Clair looked at him made her blood boil.
After watching the edit for a minute, she sighed and exited the app, deciding to watch some long videos to calm down. Settling more comfortably on the plush couch, Y/n looked to her side and reached out to grab the soft grey velvet throw lying on the back of the couch, draping it around herself before leaning back into the armrest.
She scrolled for a moment, trying to find a video to keep her entertained until her husband returned. It was mostly book reviews, food recipes, podcasts and interviews her husband did. That was all that filled her feed usually.
But then a video caught her eye.
It was an interview Rhysand had talked about weeks ago, the lie detector test with him and his love interest in the movie.
Y/n stared at it for a moment, knowing she should scroll away and watch something that would shift her mind away from everyone who thought Clair was better suited to be with her husband. She told herself she could always watch it tomorrow, when her mind was more at peace. When she wasnât feeling down.
But she also wanted to watch it, and she wanted to watch it now.
Whatever.
She clicked on the video, pulling the throw tighter around herself. The sun was beginning to go down, casting long fingers of gold and orange clawing at the walls. Almost like her own conscious screaming at her to not watch the video.
Rhys wore the red shirt Y/n always insisted he looked the best in. She could remember the morning he had gone for this particular interview. He had snuggled closer to her in bed, groaning and whining like a baby about how he didnât want to go, that he was too comfortable and wanted to sleep more.
She had poked his side, then kissed his nose and told him he needed to wake up, or his manager would kill him.
As the video began, only two chairs were in the frame. They were set too close together for Y/nâs comfort, but she watched on as Clair walked in and Rhys followed. Clair settled down, smiling at the interviewer, but Rhys grabbed the arms of the chair and moved it a bit away from Clairâs. She looked up at Rhys, lips parted midway through her sentence, then she turned away again, any and all confusion wiped from her face. Rhys only sat down once there was enough space between the two, then turned to the interviewer too.
Y/n felt her lips quirking at the corners at the gesture alone as the interview progressed. It all went well, with questions about working on set and the movieâs plot, the hardships and characters. But then the interviewer decided to question them on their personal lives.
"So, what are your plans for the future with Clair? Fans- and even me- are very interested to see how you two progress." The woman laughed, smirking lightly as Clair giggled and looked towards Rhysand.
Y/n paused the video, feeling her blood boil in her veins, and exited the video, pausing to read some comments, as one would do. Most of them were about Rhys and his co-starâs chemistry, how they went so well together and fans wishing they were together. But quite a few also added timestamps of the question Y/n had stopped at, writing in all caps and bold letters about how Rhys looked so in love when talking about âherâ, that Y/n assumed it was Clair.
It irked her more than it should have. But maybe it was just a bad day.
She was used to these things, but no one went so far as to wish Rhys was together with his co-stars.
"Honey! Iâm home."
Y/n jumped, realising the living room was completely dark, the sun having gone down. She cursed under her breath as she hurried to stand, pausing for a moment to let her legs get accustomed to the sudden movement before walking out to greet her husband.
"Hey." She mumbled, tugging the throw tighter around her as she watched him bend down to unlace his shoes.
He smiled at her, lifting his head. "How was your day, darling?"
Y/n shrugged. "Good, I guess. What about you?"
He sighed, groaning as he straightened. "It was good, but I am so tired. I had three interviews today."
Y/n tried to smile, her mind still stuck on the way Clair had stared at him. He didnât seem to notice the grimace on her face as he went into the kitchen, turning on the lights as he went.
"Oh?" She mumbled.
He nodded. "They kept talking. Then there were technical difficulties at the second interview, so we were running late for the third one."
Y/n hummed along, hearing but not listening. But she had lost all capacity to hear anything except the same words repeated in her ear spoken by the interviewer.
What are your plans with Clair?
Y/n blinked when she felt a touch on her arm, watching as Rhysâs fingers cleared into her view.
"Darling? You okay?"
Y/n inhaled, lifting her chin and meeting his eyes. "Yeah, of course. What were you saying?"
He looked unconvinced, and Y/n cursed herself. Even she herself heard the uncertainty in her voice.
But for her benefit, he kept speaking. "Did you watch the interview that came out this morning?"
His voice had a note of excitement in it, like a child who couldnât control his urge to show off his new favourite toy.
It annoyed Y/n.
"Yes." She snapped.
His smile faded, brows furrowing. "Okay, you need to tell me whatâs wrong right now. Did something happen?"
Y/n huffed, feeling guilty for yelling at him.
"It- itâs nothing, just a bad mood. Iâm sorry."
She felt him move in closer, his steps silent as he reached out to hold both her arms and tugged her closer. Y/n peered up at him, her cheeks turning red.
"Tell me, love. Did someone say something?"
She sighed. "I just- Iâm tired of watching everyone act like you arenât married." Confusion took over his eyes, but he said nothing. Instead, he effortlessly lifted her onto the kitchen counter before slotting himself between her legs, his full attention on her. "I was scrolling, and I kept seeing so many edits of you and⌠and her."
He cocked his head. "Clair?"
She rolled her eyes. "Yes. And then I watched the interview, and everyone kept insisting they wished you two were together. Even the interviewer seemed intent on it."
She played with the buttons on his shirt as she spoke. She could practically feel his slight smile as he opened his mouth to speak, making her pout.
"Love, you know I only love you."
She glared at him. "You better, or I will kill you."
He smirked. "Kinky, but I like it."
She shoved his shoulder. "Iâm not joking. I will kill you."
He leaned in, his smirk unwavering. "Neither am I, sweetheart."
She gave him a look. "Iâm concerned for you."
He shrugged. "I find anything you do attractive, sweetheart. You shouldnât be surprised anymore, I think."
Y/n grabbed his collar, staring deep into his eyes even as blood rushed to her neck. "Youâre mine."
Rhys tightened his grip on her waist, placing a soft kiss to her neck. "I am yours."
She hummed, snuggling into the junction between his shoulder and neck. "I love you."
"I love you too, my love." He paused. "Did you watch the full interview?"
Immediately, her mood soured again. "No. I saw someone talking about the question about your future plans with her, and I closed it."
He pulled away and took his phone out of his pocket, tapping away without a word before placing the device in her hand. "Watch."
Y/n did not want to, but she remained quiet, taking his hand in hers.
"So, what are your plans for the future with Clair? Fans- and even me- are very interested to see how you two progress."
Rhysâs smile vanished, replaced by a cold look. "What do you mean by that? Why would I have any plans with her?"
The interviewer looked like she knew she had messed up. "I was just asking what the fans were curious aboutâŚ"
Rhys raised a brow, turning to stare directly into the camera. "It is very well known that I am married and in love with my wife," his eyes softened at the mention of Y/n, making her belly flutter. "I have no plans for the future with anyone except her. Iâd be extremely happy if everyone stopped acting like she doesnât exist and wishing I was dating someone else, no matter how much onscreen chemistry we share."
Y/n realised the comments talking about how in love he looked were not about Rhys talking about Clair, but her.
Oh.
Oh.
"Forgive me for asking-"
"Thatâs fine, but remember it the next time before implying I have anything but acquaintance relations with my co-stars."
The woman nodded, and Y/n watched as Clair looked away from Rhys.
It was clear to anyone that she probably had a slight crush on him, and Y/n couldnât blame her. He was just that charming and loveable, it was hard not to like him. She glanced up at him, pausing the video. Guilt festered in her chest once more, and he smiled.
"Iâm sorry Rhysie-"
He lifted his hand to her jaw, pulling her face down to place a kiss to her forehead. "None of that. I know it can get hard sometimes, considering how the fans insist I am in a relationship outside of you, but you know I would never do that to you."
He let silence settle in for a moment, then- "I was going to ask you to come with me to the red carpets next week. You will come with me, right? I wanna show everyone what they see on screen is nothing compared to what real love looks like."
She nodded, giggling. "I love you."
"I love you too, darling."

ynsgirlfriend: I was expecting another pop-y album but this was so much more heartfelt. WCBF eats so hard. SO HARD.
âł dannyric03: Love her growth. Also, the way the album goes from distancing herself (we can't be friends, duh) until the time is right and finding so much beauty in what time you have (terrible things). I don't even want to speculate who the album is about. It's...beautiful. âł User5: calling it rn. wcbf (wfyl) is going to be a smash hit on the radio
CharliesPrelude2: literally came up w my user after charlie's prelude (based off of chopin's prelude in e minor) SO Y/N ACKNOWLEDGED ME
âł SalsaBird: LOL. Loved her on that track. Didn't expect them but they were haunting. Honestly, I'm surprised at how insane her vocals are.
Sharks1039: Trying to decode this. bear with me. [1/2] 1. we can't be friends (wait for your love) - i feel like this is pretty obviously about max. not exactly, bcs i think we've garnered it was y/n who left him first after THAT night (thanks burnout!!) but the fact that she's learning to live without him. even though she still wishes they could be friends. just my interpretation. 2. prelude in e minor - i don't know. it's beautiful. it's chopin. it's y/n. it's just there and a good transition into the rest of the album? it really cleared up my mind and helped me appreciate the other songs. 3. cornerstone - seeing that person in every place. "thought i saw you at the X, but it was only a lookalike." idk who's perspective this is supposed to be from. the message is imo such longing you look for it everywhere. 4. tis the damn season - i feel like the lyrics point toward max (hometown, etc.) but i also feel like we've never really seen anything in the last 4 years indicating a reunion like that. after we stopped seeing her and lewis (we saw them SM last year) i thought something might've gone wrong? i'm p sure they're still on friendly terms, they comment on each other's posts, etc. but less close. maybe some regret from her side?
âł ApplestoApples: I KNEW I wasn't the only one who thought "tis the damn season" gave Lewis. They hinted at a sort of romance. Especially when Lewis visited Y/N in her hometown (they took a few pictures with fans who'd spotted them). "It always leads to you, in my hometown" is probably about her thinking a lot about that. Sad they didn't work out. Loved how well he treated her and how happy they seemed. âł Sharks1039: @/ApplestoApples how did i not know that. omfg it's so about lewis. âł Shakes1039: anyway part two of my yap. [2/2] 5. i love you i'm sorry - "you were the best but you were the worst, as sick as it sounds i loved you first" ??? i don't even know what this means but damn girl i hope you're ok now. 6. heavenly - this is such a love song. lowkey found it a TINY bit jarring when we went from ilyis to heavenly but it's more like. i love you (im sorry) to i love you (i'm not)? that's the only explanation i can think of. banger, though. 7. terrible things - MY FAVORITE SONG. ALSO SHOULD BE YOURS. "i can tell by your eyes that you're in love with me" hello. i bawled hearing this. i'm so glad she's found love because it seemed like the max thing shook her up so bad. "don't fall in love, there's just too much to lose ... i beg you to choose to walk away" oh my god. she still sounds pretty worried about how strong love is and how losing a loved one will hurt... 8. don't look back in anger - oasis cover. live. i feel like given the previous song (terrible things) it's like when you walk away to protect yourself from love, don't look back in anger. and at the end of the day, i think this is an album about max. some people talk about how she has growth through the album but honestly idrk about that. it's just her coming to terms with her actions. it's an album about being in love and all the bad things that happen when you're in love. it's an album about deciding to walk away to not hurt yourself. but at the end of the day, people are overcoming that desire to protect themselves. they want to love, even if it hurts.

INTERVIEW WITH HUGH L/N-VERSTAPPEN
...
INTERVIEWER: Moving on, congratulations on the Best Actor award!
HUGH gives the interviewer a shy smile. He takes a sip of the coffee in his hands: Thanks. I was so surprised. I didn't think people enjoyed my performance that much.
INTERVIEWER: Well I guess you were proven wrong. How do you feel about following in your mother's footsteps, instead of racing like your father?
HUGH pauses before speaking: I suppose...I sometimes wonder if I would be suited for it. If I could've done more. At the end of the day, acting feels like keeping my mother's legacy. Many people remember her as my dad's wife, or just a songwriter. She went into acting because she loved it. I just wish she was more recognized for it.
[ There is a moment of silence as Hugh plays with the cup in his hands. ]
INTERVIEWER: I know your acceptance speech brought quite a few people to tears. It was very moving.
HUGH nods: I didn't mean to. I just wanted to thank my mom one more time. And my dad, too.
INTERVIEWER: It was a good kind of tears, I'm sure.
HUGH laughs.
INTERVIEWER: Which of your mother's songs is your favorite?
HUGH: Well, my dad used to try singing "terrible things" to me. He's not a great singer, so emphasis on the try.
INTERVIEWER: If I'm not wrong, the song does say "now son, I'm only telling you this because life does terrible things." Is it like a message to you?
HUGH: Yeah. I know the song is about how hard love is and how painful it is. But she did it anyway. What's my excuse? Life is short and there's so much to experience.
INTERVIEWER is handed a note. THEIR eyebrows furrow, looking at HUGH: Sorry, would you be comfortable answering a question about your dad? I know you only agreed to talking about Y/N. We can cut this part out if you mind.
HUGH shakes his head: No, it's quite alright. What was the question?
INTERVIEWER: Well, your father hasn't made any public appearances save for your Academy Award win. It's been many years...would he like to pass on a message?
HUGH: Oh, my dad loves to talk. Let me think. He's old, you know that. I think he enjoys the quiet life. He wouldn't survive in an F1 car nowadays, but he still enjoys driving.
[ HUGH thinks. The INTERVIEWER doesn't prompt him. ]
HUGH smiles to himself: I don't think he'll be showing up at any of my future premieres. Don't expect that. It's been a while, yeah. But he's happy with his years. He said he's close to seeing her again.
INTERVIEWER only nods. There are tears in both their eyes.

Disney's Wish
Look, Disney's Wish has been universally panned across the internet, and for good reason.
Itâs justâŚkind of okay.
When we sit down to watch a Disney filmâyou know, from the company that dominated the animation industry from 1989 to (arguably) the mid 2010âs and defined the medium of animation for decadesâwe expect something magnificent. Now, I could sit here and tell you everything that I thought was wrong with Wish, but if youâre reading this review, then I imagine that youâve already heard the most popular gripes from other users across the web. So, let me focus in:
The biggest problem with Wishâin fact, the only problem with Wishâis Magnifico.
Whoa, thatâs crazy! Thereâre so many things about Wish that couldâve been better! The original concept was stronger! The music was bad--
I hear you, I do. But stay with me here, okay? Take my hand. I studied under artists from the Disney renaissance. I teach an adapted model of Disneyâs story pipeline at a University level. I spent a ridiculous amount of time getting degrees in this, and I am about to dissect this character and the narrative to a stupid degree.
First, we need to understand that a good story doesnât start and end with what we see on the screen. Characters arenât just fictional people; when used well, characters are tools the author uses (or in this case, the director) to convey their message to the audience. Each characterâs struggle should in some way engage with the storyâs message, and consequently, the storyâs theme. Similarly, when we look at our protagonist and our antagonist, we should see their characters and their journeys reflected in one-another.
So, what went wrong between Asha & Magnifico in terms of narrative structure?
Act I
In Wish, weâre introduced to our hero not long into the runtimeâAsha. Sheâs ambitious, caring, and community-oriented; in fact, Asha is truly introduced to the audience through her love of Rosas (in âWelcome to Rosasâ). Sheâs surrounded by a colorful cast of friends who act as servants in the palace, furthering her connection with the idea of community but also telling us that sheâs not of status, and then she makes her way to meet Magnifico for her chance to become his next apprentice.
Quick aside: I'm not going to harp on Asha as a character in the context of Disney's overall canon. Almost every review I've seen covers her as a new addition to Disney's ever-growing repertoire of "Cute Quirky Heroines", and I think to be fair to Asha as an actor in the narrative, it serves her best to be weighed within the context of the story she's part of.
As Asha heads upstairs for her interview, we're introduced to the man of the hour: Magnifico. He lives in a tower high above the population of Rosas, immediately showing us how he differs from Asha; heâs disconnected from his community. He lives above them. He has status. While the broader context of the narrative wants us to believe that this also represents a sense of superiority, I would argue that isnât what Magnificoâs introduction conveys; he's isolated.
Despite this distance, he does connect with Asha in âAt All Costsâ. For a moment, their goals and values align. In fact, they align so well that Magnifico sees Asha as someone who cares as much about Rosas as he does, and almost offers her the position.
⌠Until she asks him to grant Sabaâs wish.
This is framed by the narrative as a misstep. The resonance between their ideals snaps immediately, and Magnifico says something along the line of âWow. Most people wait at least a year before asking for something.â
This disappointment isn't played as coming from a place of power or superiority. He was excited by the idea of working with someone who had the same values as he did, who viewed Rosas in the same way he does, and then learns that Ashaâs motivations at least partially stem from a place of personal gain.
Well, wait, is that really Asha's goal?
While it's not wholistically her goal, it's very explicitly stated & implied that getting Saba's wish granted is at least a part of it. The audience learns (through Asha's conversation with her friends before the interview) that every apprentice Magnifico has ever had gets not only their wish granted, but the wishes of their family, too! Â Asha doesnât deny that this is a perk that sheâs interested in, and I don't think this is a bad thing.
So, Is Ashaâs commitment to Saba selfless, or selfish? Iâm sure the director wanted it to seem selfless, wherein she believes her family member has waited long enough and deserves his wish granted, but we canât ignore the broader context of Asha essentially trying to⌠skip the line.
Then, we get our first point of tension. Magnifico reveals his âtrue colorsâ in snapping at Asha, telling her that he âdecides what people deserveâ. This is supposed to be the great motivator, itâs meant to incite anger in the audienceâafter all, no one gets to decide what you deserve, right? But unfortunately for the integrity of the film and the audience's suspension of disbelief, at least part of Magnificoâs argument is a little too sound to ignore:
Some wishes are too vague and dangerous to grant. Now, thereâs visual irony here; he says this after looking at a 100 old man playing the lute. The idea that something so innocuous could be dangerous is absurd, and the audience is meant to agree.
... But weâve also seen plenty of other wishes that might be chaoticâflying on a rocket to space, anyone? The use of the word vague is important, tooâthis implies wording matters, and that a wish can be misinterpreted or evolve into something that is dangerous even if the original intent was innocuous. His reasoning for people forgetting their wish (protecting them from the sadness of being unable to attain their dreams) is much weaker, but still justifiable (in the way an antagonistâs flawed views can be justified). The film even introduces a facet of Magnificoâs backstory that implies he has personal experience with the grief of losing a dream (in the destruction of his home), but that thread is never touched on again.
What is the audience supposed to take from this encounter? If weâre looking at the directorâs intent, Iâd argue that weâve been introduced to a well-meaning young girl and a king whoâs locked away everyoneâs greatest aspiration because he believes he deserves to have the power to decide who gets to be happy.
But what are we shown? Our heroine, backed by her friends, strives to be Magnificoâs apprentice because she loves the city but also would really like to see her family's wishes granted. When this request is denied and she loses the opportunity to be his apprentice, she deems Magnificoâs judgement unfair & thus begins her journey to free the dreams of Rosasâ people.
In fairness, Magnifico doesnât exhibit sound judgement or kindness through this act of the film. Heâs shown to be fickle, and once his composure cracks, he can be vindictive and sharp. He's not a good guy, but I'd argue he's not outright evil. He's just got the makings of a good villain, and those spikes of volatility do give us a foundation to work off of as he spirals, but as weâll discuss in a bit, the foreshadowing established here isnât used to the ends it implies.
While I was watching this film, I was sure Magnifico was going to be a redeemable villain. He canât connect with people because he's sure they value what he provides more than they value him (as seen in âAt All Costsâ and the aftermath), and Ashaâs asking for more was going to be framed as a mistake. His flaw was keeping his people too safe and never giving them the chance to sink or swim, and he's too far removed from his citizens to see that he is appreciated. Asha does identify this, and the culmination of her journey is giving people the right to choose their path, but the way Magnifico becomes the âtrueâ villain and his motivations for doing so are strangely divorced from what weâre shown in Act I. Â
Act II:
His song, âThis is the Thanks I Get!?â furthers the idea that Magnificoâs ireâand tipping pointâis the fact that he thinks the people heâs built a kingdom for still want more. Over the course of this 3:14 song, we suddenly learn that Magnifico sends other people to help his community and doesnât personally get involved (we never see this outside of this song), and that heâs incredibly vain/narcissistic (he's definitely a narcissist). I think feeling under-appreciated is actually a very strong motivation for Magnifico as a character-turning-villain, and it works very well. Itâs justified based on what weâve seen on screen so far: he feels under-appreciated (even though heâs decidedly notâthe town adores him), he snaps and acts irrationally under stress (as seen with his outburst with Asha), and heâs frustrated that people seem to want more from him (again, as seen with his conversation with Asha in Act I).
             But then⌠he opens the book.
Ah, the book. As an object on screen, we know that it's filled with ancient and evil magic, well-known to be cursed by every relevant character in the film, and kept well-secured under lock and key. But what does it stand for in the context of the narrative's structure? A quick path to power? We're never told that it has any redeeming qualities; Magnifico himself doesn't seem to know what he's looking for when he opens it. It feels... convenient.
I think it's also worth noting that he only turns to the book when he's alone; once again, the idea of connection and community rears it's ugly head! Earlier in the film, Amaya-- his wife-- is present and turns him away from taking that path. In her absence, he makes the wrong choice.
This decision could make sense; it contains powerful magic, and if it were framed in such a way that the people of Rosas were losing faith in Magnificoâs magic, as if what he can do might not be enough anymore after what they felt from Star, going for the book that we know contains spells that go above and beyond what he can already do would be logical. Along the lines of, âIf theyâre not happy with what I do for them, fine. I, ever the âmartyrâ, will do the unthinkable for you, because you want more.â
It would keeps with the idea that Magnifico believes he's still trying to help people, but his motivation has taken his self-imposed pity party and turned it into resentment and spite.
But, thatâs not the case. Instead he talks about reversing that âlightâ, which has had no real negative or tangible consequences on Rosas. Everyone had a warm feeling for a few seconds. Again, itâs meant to paint him as a vain control freak, but⌠he hasnât lost any power. The citizens of Rosas even assume the great showing of magic was Magnifico.
Act III
Then, we get to the consequences of opening the book (and perhaps my biggest qualm with this film). The book is established as being cursed. Magnifico knows it, Asha knows it, and Amayaâwho is introduced as loyal-- knows it. The characters understand his behavior is a direct result of the book, and search for a way to save him. This is only the focus of the film for a few seconds, but if you think about it, the fact that his own wife cannot find a way to free him of the curse heâs been put under is unbelievably tragic. Worse still, upon discovering there is no way to reverse the curse, Magnificoâthe king who built the city & âprotected itâ in his own flawed way for what seems to be centuriesâis thrown out by his wife. You know, the wife who's stood loyal at his side for years?
Itâs played for laughs, but thereâs something unsettling about a character whoâs clearly and explicitly under the influence of a malevolent entity being left⌠unsaved. If you follow the idea of Magnifico being disconnected from community being a driving force behind his arc, the end of the film sees him in a worse situation he was in at the start: truly, fully alone.
They bring in so many opportunities for Magnifico to be sympathetic and act as a foil for Asha; heâs jaded, sheâs not. Heâs overly cautious (even paranoid), sheâs a risk-taker. He turns to power/magic at his lowest point, Asha turns to her friends at her lowest point. Because this dichotomy isnât present, and Magnificoâwho should be redeemableâisnât, the film is so much weaker than it couldâve been. The lack of a strong core dynamic between the protagonist and antagonist echoes through every facet of the film from the music to the characterization to the pacing, and I believe if Magnifico had been more consistent, the film wouldâve greatly improved across the board.
I mean, come on! Imagine if at the end of the film, Ashaâwho, if you remember, did resonate with Magnificoâs values at the start of the filmârecognizes that he's twisted his original ideals and urges him to see the value in the people heâs helped, in their ingenuity, in their gratitude, & that what he was able to do before was enough. Going further, asking what his wish is or wasâlikely something heâs never been askedâ and showing empathy! Weâd come full circle to the start of the film where Asha asks him to grant her wish.
Pushing that further, if Magnificoâs wish is to see Rosas flourish or to be a good/beloved king, he'd have the the opportunity to see the value in failing and how pursuing the dream is its own complex and valuable journey, and how not even he is perfect.
The curse and the book (which, for the purposes of this adjustment, would need to be established as representing the idea of stepping on others to further your own goals/the fast way to success), then serve as the final antagonist, that same curse taking root in the people of Rosas whoâve had their dreams destroyed, and Asha works with the community to quell it. Ashaâs learned her lesson, so has Magnifico, and the true source of evil in the filmâthe bookâis handled independently. Magnifico steps back from his role as King, Amaya still ends up as Queen, and Asha takes her place as the new wish-granter.
This route could even give us the true âDisney villainâ everyoneâs craving; giving the book sentience and having it lure Magnifico in during âThis is the Thanks I Get!?â leaves it as its own chaotic evil entity.
All in all, Magnifico's introduction paved a road to redemption that the rest of the film aggressively refused to deliver on, instead doubling down on weaker motivations that seem to appear out of thin air. Once the audience thinks, hey, that bad guy might have a point, the protagonist has to do a little more heavy lifting to convince us they're wrong.
Look at the big-bad-greats from Disney's library. There isn't a point in the Lion King where we pause and think, "Wait a second, maybe Scar should be the guy who rules the Pridelands." Ursula from the Little Mermaid, though motivated by her banishment from King Triton's Seas, never seems to be the right gal for the throne. Maybe Maleficent doesn't get invited to the princess's birthday party, but we don't watch her curse a baby and think, Yeah, go curse that baby, that's a reasonable response to getting left out.
What do they all have in common? Their motivation is simple, their goal is clear, and they don't care who they hurt in pursuit of what they want.
Magnifico simply doesn't fall into that category. He's motivated by the idea of losing power, which is never a clear or impactful threat. His goal at the start seems to be to protect Rosas, then it turns into protecting his own power, and then-- once he's corrupted-- he wants to capture Star. The problem is, there's no objective to put this power toward. Power for power's sake is useless. Scar craves power because he feels robbed of status. Ursula believes the throne is rightfully hers. Maleficent wanted to make a statement. Magnifico... well, I'm not really sure.

"Magia Record Puella Magi Madoka Magica Gaiden" Review Dialogue | Director x Main Scenario Writer
This is a quick overview of this article featuring a dialogue interview between Taguchi, Director (COO) and Director of f4samurai, and Mori, who served as the main scenario writer for MagiReco.
- MagiReco has been in development since 2015. Some of the staff have worked on it for 9 years.
- Originally, only 3 members were assigned to work on it. This included Taguchi and Mori.
- Taguchi continued to work on the project up until the release of Last Magia / the end of Arc 1. Mori continued to work on it until the end.
- The first Azaleas event (our first branching event that had âbad endsâ) was not planned at the start of release. This event type was developed in the 2 months prior to appearing in game.
- Arc 2 (which completed in 2022) was something theyâd been working on for three years.
- Roughly speaking, the total of MagiReco is 8,390,000 characters. Mori probably wrote about 3 million characters directly, including events and Magical Girl Stories.
- That word count is estimated to be about 70 light novels (80,000~120,000 character books) worth of content for the entire game.
- In regards to Puella Historia, Mori said, âI started with the idea of portraying magical girls who appeared in history as they appeared in the original work, but in the end it became a completely new approach to portraying magical girls from other past eras, which was fresh and interesting as a scenario writer. As expected, it was not possible for one person to do the historical research alone, so it was great that we were able to share the scenario with everyone.â
- They remark that given the nature of gacha games, itâs uncommon to write about character death. Mori notes it made Main Story a little more predictable since they were limited by this to some degree.
- Including spin-off characters, there were more than 150 characters represented in MagiReco.
- Mori notes that there were fans who supported each character, so when he could he made an effort to explore them in events.
- Taguchi asked if there were any scenarios that Mori thought had a particularly strong response. Mori noted, âThe storyline with Sena Mikoto, the last boss of Part 2, received a great response and left a strong impression on me. As some users may have noticed, Mikoto was originally not intended to be the last boss at all. We were very excited and happy when we were able to show her off at the event.â
- The two comment that the release of Ultimate Madoka for first Anniversary did so well and got them number 1 rank on the App Store in sales at that time.
- Mori notes that the final story had a lot of influence from the publisher (Aniplex) on how it should play out.
- In regard to Magia Exedra, they note that MagiReco will be tied to it.
- Mori was responsible for the design and scenario behind Namae and the Lighthouse, but will be working on other projects. However, there are people on from the original scenario team who continue to be involved in scenario production for Exedra.

Sometimes I think about how the Metzger brothers were bullied in school, bullying that a teacher took part in, that extended beyond school and spread through the internet. Bullying so impactful that the effects of it permeated their writing and their concerts and their interviews.
I think about Jackâs OCD and his facial tics, and Ryanâs introversion and his feeling of being an alien whoâs always observing instead of participating.
And so they achieved so much success, and still, to this day, Jack initially feels like every fan watching them from the audience is there to hate him. Heâs scared that their fans will one day decide that they had been listening to terrible music all along.
I open review sites and forums, and the first user review I see for their last album states âthis is why we should bully theater kids more.â I see another insisting the friends they mention in their songs canât possibly be real because who would ever befriend them? I see yet another expressing hate toward Jack for his mannerisms- the crime of being âannoyingâ is seemingly unforgivable. Someone is taping a childhood picture of them to a trash can at work, to everyoneâs amusement.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, of course. But I wonder if any of these people ever stop to consider that maybe three brothers making music arenât really the problem here.

ok as nezha 2 is breaking records and entering the top 10 all time highest grossing films box office thingy, what makes it so significant and important to not only the film industry, but on a wider aspect is that:
it is the only non hollywood film to do so, and aren't we tired of seeing hollywood films dominating the market all the time even though sometimes half of those films aren't even that great and aren't we sick of western (white especially) ppl seeing that they can't be bothered to read subtitles, which is just a hint at their racism and refusal to accept and learn about other culture
it is the only asian film to do so, namely a chinese film made and aimed for the chinese market. and we know how hollywood treats asians and it's time to let them see just how good asians are and can be even better if only they would start treating us like humans.
with black myth: wukong going viral last year, and with nezha also going viral and garnering so much attention and positive feedbacks, it is also important to note why this is so significant is because both of these are actual myth stories that chinese grew up with! we're not making something out from scratch for whatever purpose, these stories are incredibly old and go back centuries and they hold important values like friendship, courage, self discovery and so much more that they hope to teach to people which is why at first the plots and characters could be confusing the foreigners !! (read my last paragraph on this for more)
continuing from the third point, these two going viral along with the userbase of xiaohongshu (red note) spreading to global non-chinese users where people could see at firsthand of those videos and infographics and performers of traditional chinese culture that's been passed down for countless years, it's just so important to let people see who we are and what we actually stand for, especially when western propaganda has poisoned people's views so much. and we're nothing but happy to share our culture for people to learn, we just ask that we are treated with the same kindness and respect we give people
so at some point the film makers reach out to an american creative effects team for the cg and animation of the film bc everyone is a witness to just how good those cg in superhero films are, and the work returned was barely satisfying and the director explicitly said in one of his interviews is that the team was basically halfass-ing the project because why would they put in so much effort for a chinese animated film? so the director decided to scrap the work done by that team, proceeded to gather 138 local chinese animation companies, more than 4000 animators to work on nezha 2 over the span of five years. for example, just that scene with the sword that ao guang (ao bing's father) wields went through 200+ edits and revisions before it ends up being what we see on screen. every single detail is polished over and over again over five years!
in the film, what ao bing wears is called ä¸éžç˛, which basically translates to armor of thousand dragons scales, and in the film, each dragon plucks out their hardest scale to form together an armor that's so strong. and in real life, we're saying that nezha 2 is this armor that all animators put together their efforts and love (and a lots of braincells ... they said they're traumatized to redraw the same thing up to 200 versions dslkjfs) and it is exactly with that, that nezha 2 gets to be loved by so many. and i think this just plays out so romantically and poetically in reality.
i've seen reviews from western news sites basically saying that the film effects are good enough, but its plot and subplots and characters are complex at first because these are characters that go back centuries, they all have their own stories and developments and some even differ in various variations as these stories are rewritten by different people throughout all the dynasties. it's a normal thing to happen, just like avengers or marvel films bc i'm sure most people don't even know half of the characters or the easter eggs right away without first learning and understanding them bit by bit after watching the film or reading the reviews. this film is released with chinese ppl as the only target audience, and none of the filmmakers or the companies ever expected it to hit so big globally and still growing consistently! also some reviews are saying that a lot of people are going into this film BLIND without watching the first nezha film first, so it's even harder to understand things right away or why they are the way they are. but also some are saying if you pay enough attention, you could also easily follow the plot of part 2 too but i still highly recommend watching the first one whenever you get the chance to for the best context.
all i can say is, no matter if you find the plot interesting or not, just know that a chinese film not made for hollywood making it onto a chart dominated by hollywood films is very important and could be world-changing, because don't we want to see more variety instead of just films created by capitalist companies and actors who don't even like their films?
#shut up agnes#nezha 2#nezha#black myth: wukong#can't wait to see more non hollywood films breaking records !!!#for now i am patiently waiting for nezha merch#important

<div style="white-space:pre-wrap"> <meta villain-integrity="final-boss-coded"> <script> ARCHIVE_TAG="THE_SHREDDER::SLAUGHTERHONOR_VS_MOUSEMORALS" EFFECT: retro myth-making, masculine psycho-coding, shellshocked nostalgia overload </script>
đĄď¸ BLACKSITE SCROLLTRAP â I Don't Care What the Rat Says. Shredder Didn't Give a F==k.
---
Hello again, children of nostalgia. This oneâs for the boys who remember Saturday morning violence as theology. This oneâs for the girls who secretly preferred the villainâs voice. This oneâs for the men who still carry Shredderâs ghost in their jawline.
Letâs talk about the only ninja warlord who ever mattered.
Before social justice ninjas. Before therapy-coded villains. Before corporations started putting trauma in every backstory like it was soy in protein bars.
Shredder didnât care about your feelings.
He didnât blink. He didnât flinch. He didnât ask for a flashback.
He was here to shred bloodlines and leave orphans. Not resolve anything. Not teach a lesson.
He showed up for violence and legacy. The two most masculine religions on earth.
â
Now picture this:
Your criminal empire is dissolving. Your top soldier got body-slammed by a skateboarding turtle. And the only being who still knows your fighting style is a f**king rat living in piss water with four reptilian TikTok-aged sons.
Do you back down?
Do you log off?
Do you cry?
No.
You climb a rooftop.
In full chrome armor.
Knowing you're about to die.
And you fight four mutant martial artists â not with gadgets or tech â but with rage, precision, and the ghost of feudal Japan pulsing through your blood.
He didnât use poison. Didnât ambush. Didnât whine about fairness.
He walked into the moonlight like a villain carved from black steel and said:
> âLetâs f**king go.â
â
Shredder didnât ask for justice. He embodied vengeance without explanation.
Did he lose? Of course.
Thatâs why heâs mythic.
He died in a trash compactor. Like a war god fed to the machine. It took New Yorkâs full mutant might to put him down.
Even his defeat was more cinematic than 90% of Disney finales.
â
Letâs break this down, because most of you forgot how real this was:
â
4 superhuman teenage ninjas â
1 rat whoâs literally his spiritual rival â
His entire army of orphaned street kids gone â
No weapons upgrade â
No backup â
Just honor, spikes, and suicidal testosterone
He showed up anyway.
Shredder wasnât a villain. He was a warning.
He was the blueprint for final bosses who donât monologue. Who donât heal. Who donât ask the audience to understand.
He was the ancient masculine archetype wrapped in violence, grief, and steel.
â
And now?
Youâve got Reddit users calling him "one-note." Blue-haired nostalgia reviewers acting like he was too mean. People who think âdepthâ means a villain has to cry about their parents.
Youâre soft. And the world knows it.
Shredder didnât do interviews. He didnât podcast. He didnât write a Medium essay about his mental health.
He trained. He conquered. He shredded.
And when death came?
He met it in armor.
Not in a hoodie. Not in a flashback. Not in an apology.
â
> You train for decades in the deadliest art on earth. > You kill your rival. > You build an army from the angry and forgotten. > You mutate yourself with alien ooze. > You look God in the face and swing anyway.
And you want to talk to me about moral nuance?
> He didnât lose. > He ascended.
Thatâs not a villain. Thatâs a doctrine.
â
So go ahead. Get excited for the next female-coded lightsaber moment. Pretend Shredder was too violent. Pretend your childhood villain was too shallow.
But when the final battle comes? When you're outnumbered and drowning in softboy excuses?
Youâll hear the steel echo in your bones â and realize you needed him.
More than you ever needed the rat.

Rayman 30th Anniversary Community Spotlight #4 - Clairy Godmother.

The Maraython:
Earlier last year, Willkakuti and I came up with a collaborative community project called the Maraython. To celebrate Rayman's 30th anniversary, the project's focus is to discover more about the members within the community and what makes the Rayman fandom so special. We tasked participants with creating a review of their favorite Rayman game and getting fans to show some creative insight about themselves.
So far we have seen ZetaXO, Unknown Rift, and Plushpaw, who have reviewed Rayman CP, Rayman M, and Rayman Raving Rabbids 2. I have been eager to feature and introduce you to Claire AimĂŠe Spencer, also known as Clairy Godmother, who will be our fourth participant. Claire Aimme has decided to review fan favorite Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.
Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc is a 2003 platform game developed and published by Ubisoft and is the third major installment in the Rayman series. It follows Rayman in his quest to stop an evil Black Lum named AndrĂŠ from taking over the world with his army of hoodlum soldiers, which includes finding a cure for his best friend Globox after he accidentally swallows AndrĂŠ.
This review focuses upon the more meaningful tones of the game. It will really leave you thinking. I particularly love this review because it made me reflect and see a whole new perspective of the game. This is also a celebration of their 1000-subscriber special. Congratulations!
youtube

Community Spotlight:
What is your name?
"Hi everyone, my name is Claire AimĂŠe Spencer. However, you may know me as your clairy godmother."

What country are you from?
"I am from Canada."

Tell us about yourself.
"I'm a queer Christian artist from Ontario who dreams of joining the children's media industry. I draw, sing, write, voice act, and (of course) watch cartoons and play video games. I prefer to imagine myself as a fairy."

What is your favorite Rayman game?
"My favorite Rayman game is Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc."

How did you get into the series?
"It was an autistic special interest since middle school, with exposure to the series via commercials, the Internet, fan art, fan comics from DeviantArt, and positive reviews in gaming magazines. I read an interview with Michel Ancel in a gaming magazine I still have and tried Rayman Legends after seeing YouTuber Caddicarus review it so highly, which really got the ball rolling. I have bought every game in the series since! I even have the infamous "Huge Features" magazine ad hung and framed over my bed along with other Rayman magazine promotions and the Rayman YouTooz plushie and figurine."

What do you do in the community?
"I am part of several Rayman Discord servers and help manage the Glade of Dreams fan art/fan fiction club on DeviantArt. I mostly make fan art, write fan fiction, and communicate with other members of the fandom. And, of course, I made a video detailing my love for the thematic brilliance of Rayman."

Thank you so much for joining the Maraython project, Claire AimĂŠe. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to your very meaningful and rather touching review. I loved hearing your interpretation of Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.
Please don't forget to support Claire AimĂŠe. If you are eager to see more, I have included links to their social accounts below. Have a great week, Rayman fans. See you next time.Â

May Check-In
Hi. It's been.... almost a year since I did one of those. And until Harcourt, I hadn't posted here since October. During that time, things... happened in my personal life. I'm not going to get into it* here, but it affected greatly my ability to create and interact with IF in general. I'm getting back on the tracks, slowly returning to my original routines and circles. *maybe through more cathartic writing? after more settling.
Let's get into the longer things:
Recap of last month's progress what I've been up to since July
The 2024 To-Do List
Plan for this month
Some general lines for the rest of 2025
TLDR on the important things because it's really long: Harcourt was my announcement of some return to normalcy. I'm in the process of moving. There's going to be an announcement later this month. It's good to be back. Here's to a healthier rest of the year!
What I've been up to since July?
Some posted here, some missed (I should make some separate posts). Instead of comparing posts, I'm just recap'ing it all.
The 100% Good Assets
I created a Harlowe guide for Saves and Settings, updated the huge SugarCube Guide to match the 2.37 release, generalized the Tweego Folder for Mac users and other Twine formats, expanded the ChoiceScript to SugarCube Guide, made a Harlowe template to resemble Chapbook, updated all the SugarCube templates to 2.37, ported Cloak of Darkness to Adventuron, started Chapbook templates (Save System out, Config.style still a WIP), and finally, made a Chapbook Reference Page for convenience*. *the Guide is already chef-kiss, but the Ref Page is easier CTRL+F'ing stuff
Releases
I participated in a secret jam from the Sacred Veins collective with Svipul (an excuse to create in Twine 1/SugarCane). The theme was Righteous. This is not a happy story.
And as a final hoera in 2024, DĂŠnantir for the Partim500. It's a mini French parser made in Donjon.FI (which had been on my to-try-list for at least two years). Some more sadness and reminiscing.
As you can see, there was a mood...
Updates
Aside from the assets listed above, obviously, the major one: the final story update of The Trials and Tribulations of Edward Harcourt. Released 6 months later than announced, but out nonetheless. Granted, the game was 90% done last October, but I dragged my feet (when IRL wasn't in the way to begin with) to deal some major coding issues that messed a lot of things.
Neo-Interactives and other Events
After the major success Neo-Twiny Jam, where we raised more money than last time (help us repeat it?), there was the Single Choice Jam, Bring Out Your Ghosts, Anti-Productivity Jam, The Bare-Bones Jam, (from here, I was less involved) Educational Jam, ShuffleComp 2024, Smoochie Jam, and the recently ended Dialogue Jam. A lot of participation overall with pretty neat entries! After a very busy, but very exciting, first full calendar year of events, we've decided to scale it back a little*. In 2025, at least, only the month-long jams will be held. *I have a huge backlog of stuff to play now... and NTJ25 is coming soon...
In other events I've helped, there was the IFCOMP for which I did Socials and Moderation, and the SeedComp! that kinda fizzled out at the end (tbf being completely MIA didn't help).
And finally, the Interactive Fiction Showcase 2024 which had so many entries. Which reminds me, I didn't announce the 2025 Showcase yet, which I should do sooner rather than later.
I did play some games, and reviewed a bunch last winter, but that fell off as well earlier this year.
Awards and other cool things that happened
I interviewed Chandler Groover for @the-rosebush-mag, following his win at the 2024 IFComp. This was such an honour to sit down with him and talk about his journey through IF.
I PROMISE I AM WORKING ON THE GAME and machina caerulea was included in the 56 edition of Indiepocalypse! A double feature~ And included with some really cool other people too!
I PROMISE I AM WORKING ON THE GAME was in a 1st-place tie for Best Use of Interactivity at the IF Short Game Showcase.
Les lettres du Docteur Jeangille won Outstanding French Game of 2024 at the IFDB Awards!! And a bunch of nominations for most of my 2024 games (though none came as close). Really proud of this. Twice in a row too! Won't happen this year, because no French Comp for me.
And David Welbourn included Not Another Sad Meal in his monthly parser walkthrough (January 2025). It's kind of wild. I've been using his amazing walkthroughs when playing many old-school parsers. And now I'm in the list! That reminds me, I need to fix some things.
~ And I think that's it? I've missed some pretty eventful periods, so a lot of stuff fell through the cracks.
It does look like I've done a lot, even during my quiet times, but it's really been more in spurs. Short periods of extreme activity and long ones of nothing (half of the summer, the whole of November, most of December, most of January, and from February until mid-April). In other words, when I had some quiet time to actually do something and when shit really hit the fan. It's been hard to balance, but I think I'm regaining my footing. April's been somewhat of a blessing in disguise.
~
The 2024 To-Do List
... has not really been followed. I haven't fixed the bugs on any of my older projects, or finished any of my WIPs (well, Harcourt, but 6 months too late). Instead, the first half was filled with unplanned game releases. On the bright side, I've fulfilled my wish of testing out new programs, or getting better at them. Well, and with Harcourt now out, I guess one thing got crossed out.
On the other hand, I haven't reviewed/played as much as I had hoped*. Even updated my website is completely out of date. Also dropped the ball on all the social media stuff. Very lacklustre year. *esp. the Neo-Interactives entries. It was important to me that every entry got some comments, to ensure everyone knew people looked at their work.
So hum... yeah. âfor "participating", lol.
~
The PLANtm for May
Not so much of a plan, more of what to expect this month, which... won't be much. Because the thing is: I'm moving at the end of the month. So between packing, selling, cancelling stuff here, and unpacking, opening, and probably buying things there, my IRL To-Do is arm-length at this point. It's both super stressful and a huge relief. I picked such a good time to come back, lol.
But I hope to have time to do some things. If not in updates/engaging, at least in planning for the rest of the year.
Harcourt: while the story is finished, there are still some kinks in the code/interface that can be handled better. As mentioned in the the update post, it's currently an Open Beta. There are a couple of things I'd like to add in-game. Nothing major. I don't expect the polished version to be out this month, but I'd like to make some progress on it, at minimum.
Secret Project: this will have a proper announcement later this month, but I'm currently planning a summer project for myself. It's both related to IRL and IF. Some good stuff I hope.
Really Bad IF Jam: is back by popular demands. The whole month of May, you can let out some steam by making terrible stuff. If I manage some free time, I might wing something?
Website Update: because it's a long time coming. Half a dozen games are missing, so does a bunch of new info. And it could do with a new interface.
Reconnect with the community. As a whole. I want to catch up on a lot of stuff I missed, and return notes that have been sitting in my inbox for too long.
I think if I can update the website and manage to tick off enough from planning of the secret project, I'll be pretty pleased with myself.
~
Some general lines for the rest of 2025
Normally, this is where I whip out my yearly to-do list of things I want done but probably not even manage to make a dent into it. You know the list from the start of the year, when I do my retrospective. Which hasn't happened this year either. So there's no list.
But for now, my main goal is to get back into a good healthy rhythm, where I can balance IRL stuff, IF responsibilities, and my own projects, without burn out looming or me being unable to do the things I enjoy doing. I think I'll need to make peace with my own capabilities, and stick to proper limits.
In terms of limits, the first has to be participating in events. It's not sustainable for me to try and make a game for all the IF events/game jams that catch my eye - even if I really want to or find them inspiring, and even if I can combine them. Almost all my projects have been created for or ended up submitted in a competition or jam; with ~90% of those being done on a whim/last minute. And because nothing I put out is a perfect bug-free experience, that means re-adding more to my plate with each submission. Because I still like those events very much, I need to be more realist with what I can do, and back out when things are not attainable. Like I have so far this past year. I had full planned or some form of ideas for the SingleChoice, Anti-Productivity, Educational Jam, ShuffleComp, the French Comp, the SpringThing and the Text-Adventure Jam, which all passed without a peep from me; as well as projects I've pushed for a later time for the ParserComp, IntroComp, IFComp (can't since helping organising), and EctoComp from last year. It's both been a disappointment (because I can't work on those ideas), and a relief (less stress to meet a too-short deadline!). So, for now, I'll most likely stick to just @neo-twiny-jam (for a good cause), and the Partim500. In huge part because it's only 500 words max. But also because they are the most fun experience I recall having, consistently. For any other jam, I'll restrict myself to long length (>= 1 month dev) only if I have actual time and a concrete plan (not just a vague idea/vibe - even if I want to test a new program). As for competitions, no submissions until I've finished at least one more WIP - and the entry is actually polished and tested properly (maybe I'll get better reviews now lol). That should leave me with more time to fix older projects, and complete current (and secret) WIPs. Actually actively removing stuff from my desk. For actual realsies now.
In terms of limits pt.2, IF responsibilities. I've been a part of a bunch communities, at different levels of organising, and with different amount of required efforts. Since getting more involved in the community, I've given more than 100% of myself to everything I've said yes to. It was working great for me... until I realised how much piled up. It was already too much last year, and I knew it - I couldn't keep up with most things then. Which is why I said my goodbyes to the great @interact-if last summer, and left a bunch of other discords/spaces. As mentioned above, Neo-Interactives is scaling back as well in terms of events. I had the foresight of preparing a bunch of stuff in advance (this is why @neointeractives has had scheduled posts with reminders). It's been less hectic and stressful, since not having something looming and having to untangle every 2-3 weeks. Gotta give major props to @lapinlunaire-games and @cyberpunklesbian for all their work too (esp during my breaks), they've been real rocks! As for other events, I can be pretty laissez-faire with random unranked events (like the Showcase or Really Bad IF), like posting it and let it be. But comps (and anything with more than one clear rule) require a minimum of admin and promotion*. Time and energy I need to see if I can spend (especially if I delegate) and reevaluate. *seriously... it's more work than you think it is, because it's very concentrated on specific days. It's exhausting. Rewarding too! but exhausting. That would give me a a more balanced planning at least. More time for updating stuff (the reason why yall are following me) :)
A potential path for myself in the soon future (brought to me by moving) is maybe being able to start a Ko-Fi or Support author button on itch. There's a bunch of legal mumbo-jumbo attached to that, but it's definitely something more attainable than it was while being here. It's something I'll be checking out this summer, and if possible, there will be an announcement (maybe even a new dev name?). Anyway, that's at least for late-2025-me to worry about. Also will need to find a new job first...
In any case, a slower, calmer, healthier "normal" on the horizon. And a new website! đ¤

summary: after the initial success of hazbin hotelâs first season, it was no surprise that season two would already be in production as we speak â now focused on heaven and how a soul is judged in purgatory. and luck you! youâve landed the role of the main character âlibraâ.
as an angel, life in heaven was supposed to be fine and dandy â if you ignore your script and the potential angst your character holds. well, that is until, you get paired up with the infamous radio demon for an interview after adam decided to chicken out.
warnings: swearing (lots of it) and use of foul language, crack, mentions of alcohol consumption, fast-burn-ish (?), the use of a friend's original character, ooc-ness, will be updated as the series continues
status: work in progress
writer's notes:

chapter 2 â hang on for deer life!
preview: âwhat in the seraphimâs names is radioscales?â you ask genuinely, eyes filled with confusion as azrail just laughed at your side. heâs been telling you how much youâve been embracing your role as âlibraâ, so much that youâve adopted their way of speech. rolling your eyes in mild-annoyance, you elbow the man beside you, nearly making him loose his hold on the coffee cup in his hand.
chapter 3 â drinkinâ time
preview: âand the nominees for the best actor and actress awards from hazbin hotel areâŚâ everyone waited with bated breath as seraâs eyes glazed over everyone thatâs been on the edge of their seat.
chapter 4 â let the good times roll!
preview: azrail laughed at his theatrics, and kept throwing you glances and elbowing you lightly. and being the ever so mature person that you are, you elbow him back â throwing a kick at his shin from under the table as a bonus before listening to the radio demon that was perched on the stage.
chapter 5 â get me with those brown eyes
preview: he paid no mind when the two overly enthusiastic children asked him to review this new cafe, and he agreed. what a big surprise (not) to see you at one of the seats waving at him with an amused smile on your lips.
chapter 6 â wife stealer
preview: you looked at alastor with wide eyes as he grinned down at you. azrailâs mouth hung open in both shock and excitement as alastor said with a smile, âi hope you donât mind me stealing your wife.â

(CNN) â Mark Robinson, the controversial and socially conservative Republican nominee for governor of North Carolina,âŻmade a series of inflammatory comments on a pornography websiteâs message board more than a decade ago, in which he referred to himself as a âblack NAZI!â and expressed support for reinstating slavery, a CNN KFile investigation found.
Despite a recent history of anti-transgender rhetoric, Robinson said he enjoyed watching transgender pornography, a review of archivedâŻmessages found in which he also referred to himself as a âperv.â
The comments, which Robinson denies making, predate his entry into politics and current stint as North Carolinaâs lieutenant governor. They were made under a username that CNN was able to identify as Robinson by matching a litany of biographical details and a shared email address between the two.
Many of Robinsonâs comments were gratuitously sexual and lewd in nature. They were made between 2008 and 2012 on âNude Africa,â a pornographic website that includes a message board. The comments were made under the username minisoldr, a moniker Robinson used frequently online.
Robinson listed his full name on his profile for Nude Africa, as well as an email address he used on numerous websites across the internet for decades.
CNN is reporting only a small portion of Robinsonâs comments on the website given their graphic nature.
Many of Robinsonâs comments on Nude Africa stand in contrast to his public stances on issues such as abortion and transgender rights.
Publicly, Robinson has fiercely argued that people should use bathrooms only that correspond to the gender they were assigned at birth. Heâs also said transgender women should be arrested for using womenâs restrooms.
âIf youâre a man on Friday night, and all the sudden Saturday, you feel like a woman, and you want to go in the womenâs bathroom in the mall, you will be arrested, or whatever we gotta do to you,â Robinson said at a campaign rally in February 2024. âWeâre going to protect our women.â
Yet privately under the username minisoldr on Nude Africa, Robinson graphically described his own sexual arousal as an adult from the memory of secretly âpeepingâ on women in public gym showers as a 14-year-old. Robinson recounted the story as a memory he said he still fantasized about.
âI came to a spot that was a dead end but had two big vent covers over it! It just so happened it overlooked the showers! I sat there for about an hour and watched as several girls came in and showered,â Robinson wrote on Nude Africa.
CNN is not publishing the graphic sexual details of Robinsonâs story.
âI went peeping again the next morning,â Robinson wrote. âbut after that I went back the ladder was locked! So those two times where [sic] the only times I got to do it! Ahhhhh memories!!!!â
In other comments on Nude Africa, Robinson discussed his affinity for transgender pornography.
âI like watching tranny on girl porn! Thatâs f*cking hot! It takes the man out while leaving the man in!â Robinson wrote. âAnd yeah Iâm a âpervâ too!â
In an interview with CNN on Thursday, Robinson repeatedly denied that he made the comments on Nude Africa.
âThis is not us. These are not our words. And this is not anything that is characteristic of me,â Robinson said. Presented with the litany of evidence connecting him with the minisoldr user name on Nude Africa, Robinson said, âIâm not going to get into the minutia of how somebody manufactured this, these salacious tabloid lies.â
CNN first reached out to Robinson Tuesday morning with evidence connecting him to the comments on Nude Africa. It took his campaign two days to respond and issue a denial.
During his interview with CNN, Robinson repeatedly said the issues that faced North Carolinians were more important than what he called âtabloid trash,â and he steered the conversation toward attacking his opponent in the race, Democrat Josh Stein, the stateâs attorney general.
âWe are not getting out of this race. There are people who are counting on us to win this race,â Robinson said.
A history of controversial statements
Campaigning for lieutenant governor in 2020, Robinson advocated for a complete abortion ban without exceptions. He later expressed regret in 2022 for paying for his now-wife to have an abortion in the 1980s.
Now campaigning for governor, he says he supports a so-called âheartbeatâ bill that would ban abortion when a heartbeat is detected â approximately six weeks â with exceptions for rape, incest and health of the mother.
But writing as minisoldr on Nude Africa in December 2010, Robinson said he did not care about a celebrity having an abortion.
âI donât care. I just wanna see the sex tape!â Robinson wrote.
In another thread, commenters considered whether to believe the story of a woman who said she was raped by her taxi driver while intoxicated. In response, Robinson wrote, âand the moral of this storyâŚ.. Donât f**k a white b*tch!â
Robinson, who would become North Carolinaâs first Black governor if elected, also repeatedly maligned civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., attacking him in such intense terms that a user accused him of being a white supremacist.
âGet that f*cking commie bastard off the National Mall!,â Robinson wrote about the dedication of the memorial to King in Washington, DC, by then-President Barack Obama.
âIâm not in the KKK. They donât let blacks join. If I was in the KKK I would have called him Martin Lucifer Koon!â Robinson responded.
CNNâs reporting on Robinsonâs comments comes a few weeks after The Assembly, a North Carolina digital publication, reported that Robinson frequented local video pornography shops in the 1990s and 2000s. The story cited six people who interacted and saw him frequent the stores in Greensboro, North Carolina. A spokesperson for Robinson called the story false and a âcomplete fiction.â
Despite earning the full endorsement of former President Donald Trump and the North Carolina Republican Party, Robinson faces an uphill battle in the race for governor against Stein.
Robinsonâs history of controversial remarks, including mocking school shooting survivors, his past support for total abortion bans without exceptions for rape or incest and disparaging the civil rights movement have been a consistent theme in the race. Recent public polling shows Robinson is losing to Stein.
Identifying minisoldr as Robinson
On the Nude Africa website in both comments and his profile, minisoldr offered numerous details that align precisely with Robinsonâs personal history.
In his profile, minisoldr listed his full name as âmark robinsonâ and disclosed a private email address Robinson used elsewhere online. In 2012, a user responded to a comment by calling minisoldr âMark.â
Minisoldr mentioned in 2008 being married for 18 years, which corresponds with Robinsonâs marriage to Yolanda Hill in 1990. In 2011, minisoldr wrote he had been married 21 years. Minisoldr wrote in a 2011 post that he lived in Greensboro, North Carolina, the same town where Robinson lived at the time and currently lives.
In a post in 2012, minisoldr said he served in the Army in the 1980s, during the same time period as Robinson. In his sexually graphic comments detailing watching women in the showers in 2011, minisoldr wrote that his mother worked at an Historically Black College and University (HBCU). Robinsonâs mother worked as a custodian at North Carolina A&T State University, an HBCU located in Greensboro.
Both minisoldr and Robinson often posted about the same topics online, including reviews for remote-controlled helicopters, their attraction to specific celebrities and their favorite âTwilight Zoneâ episode.
The email address associated with minisoldr on Nude Africa was also used by Robinson elsewhere online and social media. On the commenting platform Disqus, a user who joined in April 2011 features Mark Robinsonâs photo under the username minisoldr.
Usernames and email addresses from Disqus were publicly leaked online in 2017, according to the company. CNN confirmed that Robinsonâs username minisoldr on Disqus shared the same email address as the one used on Nude Africa.
Robinsonâs Disqus page is also linked to the Black social networking site Black Planet. The Web Archive shows a user named âminisoldrâ described themselves as 40 years old in February 2009 â the same age as Robinson at the time â and living in Greensboro, North Carolina â Robinsonâs hometown.
A username often used by Robinson
Robinson has frequently used the username âminisoldrâ elsewhere on the internet. On X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Robinson once used the minisoldr username, according to a screenshot he shared on Facebook in 2018 and data in Robinsonâs old tweets.
A YouTube playlist for a user named âminisoldrâ features exclusively videos of Robinson. On Pinterest, a user âminisoldrâ lists his name as âMark Robinson.â
The âminisoldrâ username has also posted reviews of products and places Robinson has also publicly recommended. On Amazon, a user named âminisoldrâ reviewed products frequently shared by Robinson on Facebook, including remote-controlled helicopters. And the same email address and username used on Nude Africa also left reviews on Google for two local businesses Robinson later posted on Facebook that he used.
Robinsonâs unique choice of language further links him to the âminisoldrâ alias on the pornographic forums. Uncommon phrases such as âgag a maggot,â âdunder head,â âI donât give a frogs a**,â and âI donât give two shakes of itâ were used both by minisoldr on Nude Africa and by Robinson on his personal Facebook page.
Robinson as minisoldr âSlavery is not badâ
In the pornographic forums, Robinson revealed his unvarnished thoughts on issues such as race, gender and abortion.
Writing in a forum discussing Black Republicans in October 2010, Robinson stated unprovoked: âIâm a black NAZI!â
That same month, Robinson wrote in another post that he supported the return of slavery.
âSlavery is not bad. Some people need to be slaves. I wish they would bring it (slavery) back. I would certainly buy a few,â he wrote.
In March 2012, Robinson wrote that he preferred the former leader of Nazi Germany Adolf Hitler over the leadership in Washington during the administration of Barack Obama.
âIâd take Hitler over any of the sh*t thatâs in Washington right now!â he wrote.
Robinsonâs comments on Nude Africa often frequently contained derogatory and racial slurs directed at Black, Jewish and Muslim people.
In a series of seven posts in October 2011, Robinson disparaged Martin Luther King in such intense terms, calling him a âcommie bastard,â âworse than a maggot,â a âho f**king, phony,â and a âhuckster,â that a user in the thread accused him of being in the KKK. Robinson responded by directing a slur at King.
In October 2010, Robinson used the antisemitic slur âhebeâ when discussing how he liked the show âGood Timesâ developed by Norman Lear, saying âthe show itself was a bunch of heb [sic] written liberal bullshit!â
While discussing the Taliban, he referred to Muslims as âlittle rag-headed bastardsâ and said that âif Muslims took over liberals would be the 1st ones to be beheaded!â
Robinson also used homophobic slurs frequently, calling other users f*gs.
In a largely positive forum discussion featuring a photo of two men kissing after one returned from a military deployment, Robinson wrote the sole negative comment.
âThatâs sum ole sick a** f*ggot bullsh*t!â he wrote.

Hello!! Sorry if this is a little something out of your wheelhouse but I keep seeing people say Yana said in a tweet that the Twstâs story will continue after the current main story arc. Do you know if she actually said it or have a link to that tweet? It feels like an urban legend and idk if I can believe it without seeing it for myself. Thanks if you get around to answering this and if not then have a good night/afternoon/morning!
Hello hello! Thank you for this question!
There has been no explicit statement released by Yana, Aniplex or anyone on the direction of the main story (that I have been able to find), which makes sense!
According to the interviews we have, plans/ideas/characters are changing all the time behind the scenes (sometimes long after development has begun), so someone saying "these are our plans for the future!" at any time would be very unwise. It is a volatile industry!
Proving that something has happened is much easier than proving something has not (which is likely why a lot of these rumors get so popular), but I can certainly share the things that we know have been said! ^^
I reviewed the two official interviews that Yana has given on Twst, one published in the Magical Archives game guide in 2020 and one posted to the Apple Store in 2023, and here are all the comments that might be meant to relate to future endeavors!
ăť"I wrote this story with the intention of developing mutual understandings through such clashes. So no matter where this story goes, it will never be about forgiveness or saving someone."
ăť"IÂ would like to have raid battles where players fight together. The theme of the game is 'making problem children cooperate with each other,' so I feel that such an addition to the gameplay would allow us to better feel the growth of the characters."
ăť"I would also like to collaborate with other Disney productions. The characters in 'Twisted Wonderland' are also Disney characters, so I don't know if collaboration is the right word."
ăť"I would also like to continue to dress the characters up in gorgeous outfits. I have so many ideas for what kind of fashion I want them to wear, what kind of makeup I want them to tryâŚthere are so many things I want to do."
ăť"As long as villains are the basis for these characters, I think it is important that they never become overly good people."
ăť"However, I am sure that more and more events are going to be held in the future, so I am wondering if parallel and âifâ worlds are going to start appearing."
ăť"The text of the first book is 35,000 Japanese characters long but book 6 has over 250,000. Up until about book 3 users are still getting to know the characters, so we prioritized helping people come to understand the world of Twst and keeping things compact. After the game was released, however, it felt like people were reading much more deeply into the story than we had anticipated. So now I include much more information than was provided during those setup chapters."
ăťGoing forward things are going to be on a much larger scale, incorporating not only the vertical and horizontal axes of the story but also expanding upon elements such as a present, past and future. Look forward to Book 7 (currently on chapter 2)!
ăť"We will continue to develop this game that emphasizes the spirit of villains that cannot be discouraged, and we hope that our users will continue to enjoy it.â
ăť"Thank you so much for playing Twisted Wonderland. We will continue to do our best to make this game into something that can add a little more fun and color to your daily lives."
I have seen fan-rumors before of maybe an RSA arc, or perhaps the 4th years being introduced, or even the current class graduating to welcome a new wave of 1st-year students, but they are all unproven theories ^^ Very fun to think about, but unofficial!
