dreamless nights by @ahsokryze is an amazing Anakin & Ahsoka fic 🥹 so soft and wonderful. Captures the big-brother/little-sister dynamic so so well

bound by the things we choose ‘verse by @nspx is so wonderful!! It tackles such relationships as Leia & Vader, Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan, and Mara & Vader (love that third fic fr)

the skywalker palindrome by @cringewerewolf is the coolest take on time travel EVER 💞 the series page explains it better than I could, but I will say that it’s Anakin and Luke centric.

hendiadys for a dream by @ozvezdja is THE Anidala fic series of all time (especially now i want my letters white again)!! Like omg…bees, you GET IT!! You get them!! Sola’s POV for that first fic is INSPIRED 💞 I am OBSESSED, please go read this fic if you’re even lukewarm towards Anidala

Frozen in Time by @fanfictasia is some of the most heartwrenching Luke & Vader angst I’ve ever read (while also being short, which is an impressive feat). I just…Vader having visits with Luke supervised by Palpatine?? Luke being periodically frozen in carbonite?? THE TRAGEDY OF IT ALL

The Tatooine Cycle by @fialleril, because I’d be remiss to exclude them from a SW rec list—their fics are a must-read, their worldbuilding of Tatooine is absolutely amazing 💞

Misunderstandings by Livsy, which tackles Anakin’s oft-neglected (in fandom) slave background!

All The Right Reasons by bethagain is such a sweetly heartwrenching look at Luke & Ben (Solo, not Skywalker), how quickly Luke bonds with his nephew…and how he hesitates at first to train Ben because (“I can’t see through…how much I love him”) 🥺 I just. I can’t. I am MELTING, this is so emotional (and it was written pre-TLJ! A nice bonus for me, as someone who hates how their relationship was handled in that movie)

The King’s Gambit by @elli-incarnate…oh it’s a masterclass. The epitome of Sith Luke fics, and absolutely beautiful to read. Every sentence is written with so much care, Luke/Mara is written wonderfully, and I just…I love it so much. So, so very much 💞 it’s Legends-leaning, but tbh it can be enjoyed without knowing Legends

Enter the Foreign by Viari is for absolutely anyone who loves time-travel fics…especially ones featuring Anakin! You don’t need to be terribly familiar with Legends, though it helps (I’m somewhat familiar, but not totally, and this was accessible to me). The spin-off AUs are such a delight too (and an inspiration for me to write my own 😅), and it’s just so much fun and so clearly a labor of love, and such a sprawling, intricate AU. I can’t recommend it enough.

The Sun in the Storm by @basimibnishaqs is such an adorable Rey-is-Luke’s-daughter fic 🥹 she’s an adorable sweetheart, and Luke is her protective dad, what more could you want?? (Also OP has galaxy-brained takes about Rey & Luke so…you know. There’s that too)

5. What do you wish someone would ask you about [insert fic]? Answer it now!

I feel like every single question I've ever wanted to be asked about Poe and Volya just like - flew right out of my head, lol. I contemplated something about their Force connection but I don't actually think I've included it yet in any of the fics I've posted to ao3, so I'm gonna go with something involving the "bad au" once again, cos it's something that jumped out to me when I was reading the tlj era fics back to back: the difference in when Poe and Volya both think something's changed between them, and why.

In my hand was the one you reached for, Poe mentions in his internal dialogue that something changed between them aboard the Raddus (which I think is reinforced in an earlier one-shot that @dameronalone wrote) during the events of tlj, but in the fic that's pretty much a direct sequel to that, if we got nothing we got us, which takes place from Volya's POV, she thinks that their relationship shifted after he made it back from Jakku and the Finalizer.

And I think that makes a lot of sense, 'cos although we definitely haven't touched on that specific era yet from Volya's POV yet, the days Poe is missing absolutely are what makes Voy in this verse realize just how much she loves him and just what she's been risking trying to hide that. Unfortunately, her crash course in "fuck I can't lose him, I love him too much for that and he doesn't even know it" gets a follow-up grade in tlj when they get put on separate transports during the evac to Crait....cos I'm. extremely evil.

And then of course, for Poe - they haven't really had the time to *stop* since he got back, until the Raddus, for better or worse (but mostly for worse), so I think that's the first stretch of time that he's actually had where he can notice something has changed for Volya that makes her a lot more open with her feelings than before, and ergo that their relationship has shifted because of it.

29. What songs would be (or are) on a playlist for [insert fic]? Explain your choices if you want!

I mean I have a couple of generalized poelya playlists already to be quite honest - their regular one, and one specifically for the aforementioned bad au. And one somewhere that's specifically songs I think Volya would put in a playlist that remind her of Poe.

But.....the two songs that are just simply put the most Volya/Poe to me, to the point that they could really fit any fic I've written for them, is About Love by Marina and Storm by Ruelle. Their relationship is (obviously) very much inspired by my big ole feelings for Poe, so Poe's pretty much the first/only person Volya's also had big ole feelings for, and I think these songs really capture the "oh shit this is my one exception and oh man what do i do with all these FEELINGS" that Volya constantly feels around him:

37. Promote one of your own “deep cut” fics (an underrated one, or one that never got as much traction as you think it deserves!). What do you like about it?

Okay, my first thought was not actually a Star Wars fic - although there's definitely some fics of mine there that I wish got more traction, and it'd be nice if my poelya ones got a leetol more attention but I'm also not terribly bothered by that because hey I'm writing for myself and my friends and it's fun - it was a crossover Spidey/Moon Knight fic that I wrote in 2022.

Just...maybe not the crossover you were expecting. I had finished replaying Spider-Man PS4, I think, and I was like....this would work really well for a crossover with Moon Knight. It ended up being a blend of the television show and the early Mackay run before I quit reading. It definitely got a little bit of attention, but mostly just of folks wanting a continuation, which I had no plans for. But it's definitely still one of my favorite fics I've written - writing for Peter really is just so much fun.

In 2020 and 2021, I wrote a kylux role reversal fic called "a matter of time." It was basically a retelling of The Last Jedi, which leaves us with 2 options to go here. Are we putting Alina and Sasha in the Star Wars universe, like in my prequel-era AU? Are we doing role reversal in the Grishaverse?

SCENARIO 1: TLJ-VERSE DARKLINA

This isn't really TLJ-verse, but what about Sith Lord Aleksander and his little apprentice Alina, who is spying on the Resistance for him? She's feeding him all this information about the rebels through their Force bond, and planting fake information within the Resistance. To them, she's just a Force-sensitive rebel, still in need of training, but ultimately on their side. They won't know what hit them when Aleksander arrives to take his favorite girl back...

SCENARIO 2: ROLE REVERSAL IN GRISHAVERSE

Alina Starkov, legendary Sun Summoner, creates The Fold, a stretch of land where you'll basically burn to death in blistering light and heat, centuries before she finds Aleksander Morozova, the first Shadow Summoner in centuries, enlisted with the First Army, totally unaware of his power to eclipse the sun. She needs to keep him close to her side, because once she can control his power, she can control the Fold and use it to destroy all the other countries surrounding Ravka.

   It had not been the shouts or the sounds of alarms blaring, the short lived cacophony of blaster fire and the humming zing of the lightsaber deflecting the blasts that had roused her; her slumber had been deeper than any that could have been induced by the medical droids, and nothing that they had done had yet to pull her from it.  It was a Jedi trance, a reflexive attempt to save her life when she’d found herself blasted into the icy and breathless depths of space.  She had not known how long she had slept, only that her mind was not at rest, her thoughts and her hearts tossed on the eddy of the visions, fragmented, broken, the possible futures that scattered across her life, and her son’s, as many as the stars in the sky.  So few that held hope, but hope - hope was the only thing she had left to cling to.  Hope.  For her family.  For her friends.  For their freedom, for their lives - for the future of the galaxy itself.  

    Without hope -- it would all truly be lost.

    The sensation was familiar, as much as her own heartbeat, as much as the ache that Han’s absence had always caused, whether it had been short lived, or permanent. A breath, a sense of life - of fear and pain and sorrow and guilt and somewhere, buried deep beneath all the anger and darkness, the spark of life - of hope, that piece of him that none had been able to quench.  Ben.

    It was the name on her lips as consciousness stirred, a hand raising to press back against the Rebel soldiers that were already charging in after him, prepared to protect her, to stop him.  “Enough!”  As raspy as the command was, there was no denying the force of authority behind it, the rush of energy from her palm creating an invisible divide, even lasting only for a moment, that would force them back.   “Leave us -- “   Her gaze turned, her form barely capable of remaining in a seated position, but she would not falter until they had obeyed.  “He will not harm me.  Go.  Now.”  

     Only after they had stepped back, and the door rushed closed behind them, did she falter, a ragged breath escaping as she slumped back, somehow unsurprised to find his arms supporting her, keeping her from falling back against the medical bed.    “Oh, Ben --”  Her hand dropped to the edge of his shoulder, her grip still strong, if not as much as it once was.   “I knew you’d come home.”

“Ben?” Rey leaned back, her eyes wide, as she searched his face for an answer.   A better man would have been ashamed. A better man wouldn't have put her through such an ordeal to realize what he wanted. A better man would have apologized for stealing her breath away so soon after she woke.

“Everything I’ve done, I’ve done for you,” Ben whispered against her lips. “I move the stars for no one.”  

He gave her the answer she sought and in turn, she stole his breath away, taking what she wanted.

After being dormant for a year, the Force Bond opens, leading Supreme Leader Ren to the last Jedi. He challenges Rey to complete The Thirteenth Hour, a Nabooian trial of wit and combat. It doesn't look that hard, but nothing is what it seems...

oh golly! there are a few fics that i hold close to my heart. i have written a lot for jjk, but i'm gonna plug all my fandoms.

string theory - if you read nothing else from my ongoing fire in your mouth series, read this. it's my favorite piece of the verse so far, and tbh i think i kinda snapped here besties. (although I do also recommend that you read the series, especially 2sorcs, which makes me laugh even while I write it) (17k, 3 chapters, T-E, JJK, SatoSugu)

A Real Breakthrough - my favorite smut that I've written, probably. my favorite dialogue/character writing that I've done, definitely. (4k, E, Arcane, JayVik)

Swan Song - Balthus/Yuri Fire Emblem Three Houses still own a large chunk of my heart, although i haven't written for them in a while. i can't recommend my indefinite-hiatus slowburn AU fic for them (oops), but i have some finished pieces I really love for them. this one is my favorite :) (9.4k, Angst and H/C, M, Balthuri)

The Morning Storm: A Bilgewater Serial - this is a super niche, super meta fanfic that stems from the fact that Legend of the Ruined King (LoL singleplayer spin off game) canonically has a character that writes gay fanfic of two other characters. i had a lot of fun with this, and it's probably what got me into writing comedy. (9.5k, Comedy/Satire, 24 chapters, T-E (parody), LoL, TF/Graves)

On the Traditions of the Dol-Intiqua - i love the game series Dreamfall/The Longest Journey, which makes me one of approximately 2 dozen people who know what it is. the worldbuilding is just so cool, and i hope this fic is half as atmospheric as the world deserves. (5.7k, Fluff/Pining, Dreamfall/TLJ, Likho/Kian)

                          her hair reminds her of   allana,   red like copper under the suns. it is often that leia goes around the base, seeing the new faces,   talking   to them, trying to help in any way she can. even when her day begins with talks of   tactics   &   navigation strategies, with   new   ways to turn the odds on their favour. she   knows   how scared people are, how everything is always a   question   mark   even for them when they are only a few   &   the first order has more   &   more army everyday. but there is always that   hope   that keeps them going, that will bring them to a better future. while she walks around, while she hears what   poe   have to sy about the next time they leave, she sits next to the girl. she looks   lost,   but leia hopes that if she does not have anything, or   anyone,   she will feel at home amongst them.

1. What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)

Oh now that...is a fantastic and hard question. And one I'm gonna answer with three fics and be a little cheat because technically I write kind of like, three genres of fics that have wildly different audiences (I think).

For primarily canon dynamics, I think an introduction to my fics of the same ilk would be...I waffled here, but probably "are you an angel?" because it focuses so much on Poe, and Poe's dynamic with Leia, and the intertwined familial relationships of the Solos and the Damerons. There's definitely some more shippy fic I like, but this one I think is cute and a good introduction for how I write Poe and Leia, and Poe's dynamics with the Resistance.

Now for reader fics, it's definitely my poe x reader fic, "what it's like when you ain't afraid to fly". I like the characterization in it, and the cozy intimacy of the atmosphere of the fic even if it is technically a fairly suggestive make-out fic.

Annnnnd if you're wanting an introduction on Volya, and her dynamic with Poe...the best fic I think for that would be the one that's part of an ongoing, very convoluted AU @dameronalone and I have for Poe and Volya, where Poe knew a version of Volya years ago, but she left back to her own time, but because the Force is strange and I grew up on Doctor Who -- another version of Volya winds up in Poe's timeline, stuck there, and they have a very long slowburn. Anyway, the fic in question is "my hand was the one you reached for" and takes place the night after tlj. I pick this one specifically for an introduction to Volya because I feel like it best encapsulates everything about her? Her struggles with the Force, her empathic abilities, the push and pull of her relationship with Poe and how much they click but push each other out of their comfort zones, her insecurities, how emotional she can be, and a good sense of her anger as well - which is prominent in every 'verse she's in.

10. How do you decide what to write?

It comes to me in a vision. But like, unironically? Usually an /image/ will pop into my head of the characters and I'll wonder what's happening around it, or I'll get a string of internal dialogue floating around in my head and I'll chase it until it's a full paragraph. It happens either if it's just a plot bunny that pops into my head, or if it's a prompt I'm trying to work on. It's a bit like working on a puzzle for me - if I can find two pieces that connect, then the rest of it comes together fairly easily.

28. Does anyone read your fics before you post them? If so, who?

Sometimes!! Not always, but definitely a good portion of the time, my partners @dameronalone and @hermitmoss gets to read my fics in google docs. It's been a lot of that here lately, because I've been struggling with some evil Kermit self consciousness about posting so much oc/canon to my ao3...we're getting there tho!

And yes, I know it’s platonic, and no I don’t care. Friends become more every day and I just plain love seeing these two interact. And then letting my brain run with it.

How do you feel about Reylo these days? Do you still read fic? (I know I have a similar taste to you about Reylo fic, which makes finding it hard to begin with). Also, have you rewatched TLJ since TROS? I tried doing it but it hurt too much. Hope you are doing well, still love reading your old posts and your new posts as well.

I haven't read any fic in a while, but I certainly will again. I'll always love the ship, but as you say, it's pretty difficult to find fic that has everything important going for it set in the canon universe. I've read mountains and mountains of reylo AUs that I enjoyed, but when it comes to canon verse, the pickings are slim. I got frustrated and depressed about it, so I haven't been looking lately.

I haven't, not in full. It's going to be a long time.

Nonnie i love you so much :DDDDD okay, so:Rey - Rey is without a doubt a daughter of hephaestus, great with mechanics, not so great with people lol. Now, you know i'm thinking foster kid, dropped off when she was little with a promise of coming back - moved around until one day when's she's maybe 7ish at the park she was lured away from the family she was with by a "teenager" cyclops, you know not fully grown but not a baby. She sees what it is she runs the other direction but it chases her down the street until she outsmarts it and kills it. She tells her foster family about the encounter and to be frank they think she's crazy. They take her to a psychaitrist and then send her back to the home when she insists its all real and eventually just runs away a little after her half birthday. She's on her own, just barely surviving and attracting more and more monsters until she is almost fourteen runs intoFinn - Finn is a son of Aphrodite, you know good looks, charm-speak, the works. He was in a similar situation as Rey, but kind of worse bc he was a black kid too and got stuck in a rut at First Order Home for Boys (i read that somewhere, just putting it out there) until when he was thirteen and it turns out that the lunch lady was a gorgon and who, from his angle, looked like she was about to eat this cute guy. Finn didn't know what to do, and has this great idea to shout at her. To be fair, she doesn't eat the guy, but she nearly kills Finn except the guy pulls out a bow and arrow and the gorgon has two arrows sprouting out of her face. All the commotion attracts some fricking Laistrygonians and Finn and the guy - who he learns to be called Poe - get separated and Finn almost dies again because holy crap, he isn't prepared for this, but he thinks he does pretty good because he doesn't die, just doesn't kill anything. But then there is a yell from behind them and a girl about his height come flying from behind a dumpster with a thick staff made from what looked to be the same material as Poe's arrows and takes out the giant that was causing so much trouble. Speaking of PoePoe - pretty boy is without a doubt a son of apollo. I mean come on, a pilot, pretty, good shot - he's got it all. His mother was a pilot and that's mostly is what got his dads attention (we'll pretend in this verse apollo isn't narcissistic, think kes dameron XD) when he was twelve his mother was killed by a hellhound and after he defeated it was taken to camp by another demigod, jess pava, that was the hellhounds real target. He was tracking down the Stheno when Finn found him. While at camp, he had become good friends with Ben Solo, a son of Athena and a guy who quite honestly, he has no idea how on earth his mother was attracted to him, yet here he was. When he found out about his parentage, he had been at camp for nearly two weeks and grew more distant from his father and angry at his mother and the gods for not revealing themselves and letting him know. He let Chaos invade his dreams and poison his mind.Anyway, back to the trio. Finn and Rey are kind of at a loss at what to do with each other until an old guy and a hellhound (a nice one, but Finn didn't like him that much and the feeling was mutual) who take them to Camp Halfblood. On the way, they pick up Poe who is introduced to Rey and who introduces the man and his hellhound as Han Solo, the mortal who saw through the Mist (and perhaps that is why Athena fell for him, but we'll probably never know) and Chewie the Hellhound and crap happens until the actually get there and then Rey gets a prophecy about chaos and her family and she has to find Ben Solo whos gone missing and Han comes too bc he's not a demigod and it doesn't mess with the rule, and also it's nice to have an adult that can drive and pay for food believe them for once. And then they do find Ben, who has a prophecy of his own, and is helping Chaos and starts a whole new warTl:dr Rey is a daughter of Hephaestus, Finn is a son of Aphrodite, Poe is a son of Apollo, and Ben is a son of Athena. this is probably more than you were wanting, but there you have it XD
