Lucy Liu was born in the Jackson Heights neighborhood of the New York City borough of Queens.

Okay, multiversal casino staff and a bit of lore before I get too sucked into my hyperfixations and forget about it

[NOTE 1 !! If you want to make a similar concept feel free but do not take my concept entirely! You can make something SIMILAR but not EXACT replica please! I don't mind inspiration but do tag me in any art or rambles because I LOVE to see people be inspired by things or something I make!]

[NOTE 2 !! Some of these characters may act out of canon when I draw them (If I do), some of their Lore might be different, there is an explanation for it here, don't pummel me for it please.]

Origin/Main concept : The multiverse casino was originally made to be a hangout spot for people from other universes, somewhere where they could relax and discover other universes. This worked, but eventually they needed more Staff to help out on all the floors.

Why these specific characters for staff members? (Staff members are shown later) : I picked from my favorite characters from various fandoms (excluding any of my favorite children characters (theres only one here cause theyre celestes friend.)) and threw them here, they're all categorized by the card categorization I have.

Categorizations : There's both the card symbol organization, there will be a section for it at the end of the staff lists.

How does the multiverse casino get its staff? : they find almost exact copies of the universe they're trying to get a staff member from, and they talk to the person they're trying to bring in and see if they'd like to join. Old staff members get their memories of the casino entirely wiped before being returned back to their universes like nothing happened (this essentially happens whenever I leave a fandom)

Storia del personaggio

Il primo incontro degli X-Men con Yukio avvenne quando Wolverine ebbe la sua lotta con Shingen Yashida, padre della fidanzata di Wolverine Mariko Yashida. A quel tempo Yukio lavorava per Shingen e uno dei suoi compiti era uccidere Wolverine. Invece si innamorò di lui e successivamente lo aiutò a causare la caduta di Shingen.

Più tardi, Wolverine invitò la sua squadra in Giappone per il suo matrimonio con Mariko, a cui Yukio si unì in seguito. Viper e il Samurai d'Argento avvelenarono gli X-Men durante una cena che Logan organizzò per loro. Logan, assaggiando il veleno, avvertì Ororo e le fece cadere la tazza di mano prima che potesse berla. Dopo la morte di Mariko Yashida, Wolverine mandò la figlia adottiva, Amiko Kobayashi, a una famiglia affidataria. Oh that grin has him smirking at the prince before he chuckles softly. Yun was more leaning towards men and purred at Callisto. "My my, then I'd be honored to be one of your meals~" He teased the other before the subject went back to his twin sister. "I will say this for my young lady. She is not as weak as she appears." Yue maybe the perfect young lady but she can be a viper if angered and her strikes were worthy of wary.

He then took another dragon his cigar and looked over his shoulder when he heard her heels click on the ground. "Elder Brother-ah, Sorry. I didn't realize you were taking a moment." Her voice is soft, gentle like a night breeze dancing through the gardens.

"Who said she is unaccompanied? I'm not her only escort tonight." No, Lilu wouldn't risk anything happening to her precious great-granddaughter. The grand princess, so to speak of Serenity Mountain and if Lilu has her way? Empress. Not that Yue had much of a choice, given how Lilu controlled the family while Bolin was off securing deals and protecting the borders of their homeland from invaders.

He nearly missed Callisto's remark but he coughed and blushed at the implication. "Right circumstance and perhaps it can be arranged." Yun knew he needed to be careful but well, it's not like he was going to rise through the ranks of anything so long as Lilu lives. Plus, this was one way to rebel against her and who said that Callisto would even take him up on it?

Binary´s really going for a spot among the Top 10 Best Punches Thrown, isn’t she? (Uncanny X-Men 171)

FRESH BLOOD TIME

When you see lists of iconic X-Men villains, it’s funny how about half of them were a part of an X-Team at one point or another. Magneto, Emma, even Phoenix… The X-Men have never made much qualms about recruiting antagonists into the fold. This makes sense when you think about it: the Avengers are unified by a mission statement (to protect the world from devastation), whereas being an X-Men doesn’t mean you have to believe in Xavier’s dream. Rather, Xavier has to believe his dream can be worked through you. If Xavier (and, by extension, the other X-Men) believes he can help you find a place in a mutant/human-world, you’re welcome.

Rogue is the first villain who is recruited along this pretense.

Funnily enough, the Rogue-as-an-X-Man arc starts with the tail end of the preceding storyline, where the Morlocks kidnapped Angel and Storm challenged Callisto for their leadership (and won!)

A gathering of Morlocks, or a rave after a punk concert? Why not both? (Uncanny X-Men 171)

Storm taking control of the Morlocks fits neatly into her ongoing narrative: now that she’s the leader, now that she’s part of a team that rarely gets a clean win, she’s becoming tougher, rougher and more pragmatic. All of that is also making her angrier, chafing at the responsibilities that weigh her down. She’s been knocked off-balance and is trying very hard to find an equilibrium again.

Stabbing your enemy and claiming their snazzy purple leather jacket as your own is not as good as meditating, but it sure do help.

After her win, Storm leaves the Morlocks to their own devices and the X-Men return home. All is well, until an unexpected guest comes to stir up trouble. It’s Rogue, who’s come to ask for Xavier’s help. And, to every X-Man’s shock, Xavier seems willing to listen.

I love the sheer emotion that radiates from these panels: Walt Simonson is doing excellent, excellent work. Especially Rogue, curled up in the chair, perfectly evokes how desperate she must have been to come here. (Uncanny X-Men 171)

Xavier puts Rogue through the emotional wringer but can’t find anything suspicious. (The fact that she actually agrees to Xavier’s mental probings is in itself kind of the proof in her desperation pudding.) And so Xavier agrees to take her in.

The X-Men don’t take it well. Binary -- you know, Carol Danvers -- comes home and takes it even less well. You can’t really blame her: Rogue stole her memories, her identity, her life. You would probably punch Rogue through the roof as well. After a brief scuffle, Binary star-powers down and shows her face.

The most compelling stories are always the ones where you can sympathise with both sides. Rogue was wrong doing what she did, but Storm is correct: Xavier is right. Carol is right. So where do you go? (Uncanny X-Men 171)

I rag on Xavier a lot, but I believe this version of Xavier is the best iteration of the character. The mentor who will take in any mutant as long as they're willing to try, despite their past? That's the Xavier I can rally behind.

Anyway, the X-Men reluctantly welcome Rogue into the fold and even more reluctantly, they bring her along to Wolverine and Lady Mariko’s wedding in Tokyo. (I’m guessing they didn’t want to leave her and Xavier alone?)

Since the X-Men operate by soap opera rules, no wedding will go off without a hitch. Lurking around are these three:

Yukio is an ex-Hand assassin, Logan’s frenemy and currently Lady Mariko’s bodyguard;

The Silver Samurai, Mariko’s nephew who wants to usurp her, seeing himself as the recently deceased Lord Shingen’s heir apparent;

Viper, an ex-Lady HYDRA upstart loaded with ambition. She and the Samurai also tangled with the New Mutants.

Yukio… makes an impression on Storm.

I, too, wish to master the art of the manic pixie dream cartwheel. Fuck yeah Yukio. (Uncanny X-Men 172)

While the Silver Samurai bids Mariko to come to him for an audience, Viper poisons the X-Men. Storm is the only one who hesitates before drinking the poisoned tea, so she’s spared having to recuperate in the hospital. She accompanies Yukio, who’s pretending to be Lady Mariko in order to fool the silver Samurai! (Don’t tell anyone!)

Yukio does subterfuge about as well as Riverdale does coherent plots, so it all predictably comes to a head. In the end, Storm’s powers go haywire and she explodes a warehouse, but Yukio saves her by dunking her in the harbor water.

Storm then fucks off for rest of this plot to do stuff for which there is no heterosexual explanation. More on that later. These two have left the stage to allow for the actual dynamic duo of this adventure. See, Wolverine and Rogue recover from the poison quicker than the others, because of:

A healing factor;

Ms. Marvel’s, er, borrowed alien physiology.

Reluctantly, Wolverine lets Rogue tag along to knock some doors and follow some leads. Just to make it clear: Wolverine. Does. Not. Like. Rogue.

Gruff grizzled veteran and brash, hot-headed rookie with a smidgen of sexual tension is an excellent dynamic and I am here for it. (Uncanny X-Men 173)

Rogue and Wolverine cracking heads makes for a surprisingly cracking duo. Logan’s tendency to adopt girls is well-documented across all platforms - Kitty, Jubilee, Armor, movie!Rogue - but he tends to adopt the idealistic ingenue. This Rogue is more adult and more brazen, which makes for a fun dynamic where Wolverine has to be the responsible, experienced one. He tries to be all gruff about it, too. “I might need her later,” sure sure.

Too bad this pairing doesn’t often align together anymore.

While chasing this trail, Wolverine realizes that Viper and the Silver Samurai are going to kill the defenseless X-Men in the hospital. Fortunately, the daring duo beats them to the punch. While Rogue beats up the cronies, Wolverine confronts Harada. Just when Wolverine is about to kill him, Mariko stops him out of a sense of misguided familial duty. (This is an excellent decision that will pan out well in the future.)

While Harada gets away, Viper gets the drop on Logan and Mariko.

Aw, look, they really do love each other! (Uncanny X-Men 174)

It’s a classic redemption moment, but it’s so good that they swiped it for the first X-Men movie. It solidifies Rogue’s status as an X-Man and shows that, despite her previously villainous behaviour, there’s a potential for noble behaviour as well.

With the threat of Viper and the Silver Samurai neutralized, we can return to the happy occasion! As is tradition, you got all kinds of out-of-towners flying in for the wedding. We’ve got Lilandra and Xavier, and we’ve got Scott with a plus one, his new girlfriend!

Who looks so much like the Phoenix that Lilandra immediately attempts to kill her. Cool down, lady! Fortunately, her murder attempt is over-shadowed by something far more impactful: STORM’S MAKE-OVER!

Despite Rogue almost dying and Wolverine getting dumped at the altar (spoiler alert!), I love how Kitty still snatched the Drama Queen crown. (Uncanny X-Men 174)

So, not only did Storm just decide to abandon the X-Men to their own devices mid-mission, she then disappears for a few days and returns decked out in her Sex Pistol best? And she has embraced her wild side?

Look, in the Wolverine mini, Yukio serves as a way for Wolverine to explore his wild side. (A sexy, sexy way.) Coincidentally. Yukio does the exact same thing for Storm, except it’s all off-panel. And we’re meant to believe nothing sexy happened? Storm embraced her butch side for her.

Again. No heterosexual explanation for this.

I’m also choosing to count this as Yukio being Storm’s first almost-canonical love interest, btw.

Storm’s metamorphosis takes a back-seat to the wedding, which is finally on. And Kitty’s the Japanese equivalent of a maid-of-honor!

Height of comedy, people. (Uncanny X-Men 174)

I get that you’re dazzled by Scott, Madelyne (he looks especially cute here, look at that A+ hair game! Those sleek glasses!), but take:

and run! Don’t marry into this dysfunctional superheroic family! Follow Mariko’s example!

DRAMA! (Uncanny X-Men 174)

That single, solitary manly tear. Aw.

It turns out that Mariko is being manipulated by Mastermind, who wants to take revenge on the Phoenix by tormenting those she loved the most (i.e. the X-Men). However, even after Mastermind is defeated and Xavier reverts the mental damage he has wrought, Mariko does not walk back her decision. Presumably, Mastermind preyed on insecurities she already had - I would also have difficulty dealing with the idea that those doubts were not wholly my own.

Anyway, there you have it! Rogue’s integration into the X-Men, at the cost of Logan’s happiness. Still three absolutely solid comics and a v. strong showing in 1983.
