(Akyuu and the telephone booth give so many opportunities for Metal Gear Solid 2 references)
Touhou: Luna Nights - Playthrough
Part 3: The Library of Apparitions
[I've copy-pasted the video's description below the Read More]
Now we venture into the replica of the Magic Library of Voile, where we learn a bit more about the process and people involved in this pocket universe's creation. Also, strange things are still happening, and they're becoming more and more difficult to ignore.
The title for this part of the playthrough comes from the title card shown upon entering this area: 妖魔の書蔵庫 [youma no shozouko], which I roughly translated as "the library of apparitions".
Reading and translating those title cards was quite the challenge, mainly because each character is split in half, and the style used for the kanji resembles that of Ancient Chinese scripts (like the Seal/Sigillary Script from around 700 BC, perhaps something even older), but also the lower part of each character is stretched downwards, and sometimes a horizontal stroke is awkwardly placed very close to the aforementioned gap that splits each character in half.
Oh, and speaking of gaps:
Something kind of bizarre I've noticed about this game is that, despite its plot having pocket universes as one of its cornerstones and involving characters from later Touhou titles rather than exclusively featuring the cast from Touhou 6, Yukari Yakumo is nowhere to be seen. You'd expect someone like her, with her specific role in Gensoukyou and her powers, to intervene at some point regardless of Remilia's wishes. I guess she was asleep again while these events were unfolding.
Another thing that could have been quite funny is if Remilia created this universe, sent Sakuya here, and then Sakuya ran into either Toyosatomimi-no-Miko or Mononobe-no-Futo, thus revealing Remilia, rather than creating a new world, had actually found a way to access the Senkai / Hermit World by accident.

Sakuya Izayoi's Day Off
Series: Touhou Project Genre: Slice of Life Length: 5 pages Warnings: none
(banners by saradika-graphics)
“Sakuya,” The voice chimed in, taking a break from sipping her tea, “Why don't you take yourself a break?” Red eyes turned up, looking at her faithful white-haired maid.
“My lady, I have many tasks that need completed. The fairy maids are... well.” They didn't want to say incompetent, but that's what they are. “I think you're taking my question as a real question.” Another sip of tea, and a small laugh, “Take yourself a break.”
And so was Sakuya's day off.
Sakuya sat in their bedroom, on the end of the bed, twiddling their hands together in confusion. How does one take a break? They've been working non-stop for so very long, their work has been their life.
They made their way over to their vanity, gently untying hair from dual braids… before deciding that looks strange and re-doing the two braids framing the side of their face.
A left blue eye and a right red eye stare back at them in the mirror as they look utterly confused…
How do the others in the mansion relax?
First Sakuya's mind turned to the fairies. They barely work at all, spending all their time playing games. Hide and seek, tag, red rover, mother may I, all sorts of playground games. Maybe...? No. The mistress would never let Sakuya live that down if they did that! They'd be bullied about it for years!
What about Miss Patchouli? Now that is a possibility.
Sakuya made their way down to Voile, the library living in the basement. They got hit with the distinct air as always, artificially clean through magic. The shelves rose up towards the very ceilings - tall and proud - , low hanging lights still not being enough to brighten everything up, magical balls of light being required for most of it.
They made their way towards Patchouli's table, before spotting the magician, who spotted them not longer afterwards.
“Ah, Sakuya. Great timing as always...” She began to speak, before a hand rose from Sakuya to interrupt her.
“I'm terribly sorry, Miss Patchouli, but the Mistress demanded I take a day off.” Sakuya gave a weak smile, slightly nervous about admitting such a thing.
Patchouli gave a confused look, before shrugging and turning back to her book, “What brings you here, then? Shouldn't you be taking a break properly?”
“I was wondering if I could borrow a book to read.” Sakuya stated plainly, voice laden with a certain level of confidence, but not too terribly much.
“Go ahead. I can trust you to treat my books with respect, just be sure it returns to where it came from.”
Sakuya began to wander the fiction part of the library – Which was admittedly a quite small section, because the vast majority of the library contained nothing but magical tomes, grimoires, spellbooks, books of shadows, and all that sort. But Sakuya found a nice little book, titled “The Warriors Aria”, and plucked it off the shelf, making a mental note where they found it. Wandering off, they found a nice chair not too far away, before settling down into it.
This still felt... odd. Sakuya mused to themself. But they dutifully opened the book, because any task given to them by their beloved mistress was a task they would perform perfectly and elegantly.
And so they read, a few pages. But nothing really stirred up within Sakuya. No images came to their mind for the book they were reading, no deep emotions welled up in compassion or joy or sorrow. Oh, but I just started, maybe I need to give it a bit more... So Sakuya read more pages. And more pages. And more pages.
Yet, still, nothing. A sigh emanated from Sakuya’s lips. They closed the book, took a deep breath in, and began asking themself a lot of questions.
How does one relax? How do I stop working? How am I supposed to enjoy this book? Miss Patchouli loves reading, why don’t I? What’s different about me that I can’t just enjoy this darned book? Sakuya caught themself. They were being too harsh. Another sigh let loose, before standing up and returning the book to whence it came. At least it was something for a moment, it passed some time. Now I’m a bit closer to the end of this day.
Sakuya wandered off to the kitchen. They could really use a nice cup of earl grey tea. The kitchen was spotless as always, except... Oh boy.
There was a fairy maid, of short bob-like pink hair, bright yellow eyes, and of course, fitted in a maid dress... that was currently drenched in disgusting, revolting, hideous mud! And the countertops, oh, the floor, everything...
Sakuya felt a rage boil up inside of them, how dare this fairy maid track mud through the mansion in such a manner! Sakuya began to take a breath in, to begin reprimanding the fairy, but stopped...
Oh, right. I’m supposed to be taking a day off. So instead, they sighed, and reached for the magical bell attached to their hip – Specifically made and enchanted so it would be heard by the five nearest fairy maids, who wore little amulets that it connected to. Pulling it free of the cloth that wrapped around it, top to bottom, to keep the clapper from constantly hitting the sides, ringing forever, Sakuya rung the bell.
The pink-haired fairy in front of them stopped, suddenly looked towards the point of the noise, and shrunk a little bit in shame and a bit of healthy fear of the head maid. She knew that Sakuya was vicious when they needed to be, and that they ran a very tight ship around here.
Four other fairy maids rushed into the kitchen, one gasping at the massive mess in front of them. All four turned their heads to look at Sakuya, attempting to grasp the emotion on their face so they could brace themselves appropriately.
And all of them were shocked when, in a calm voice, Sakuya spoke:
“Please, clean up this mess. And do it well.” Then Sakuya began to prep themself some earl grey tea. The fairy maids immediately began scuttling around, one leaving to go grab the nearest mop out of the nearest janitorial closet. The muddy fairy looked shocked, eyes wide and mouth agape. She was surprised she didn’t get a knife thrown at her, as much as said knives were completely nonlethal danmaku, it still hurt a bit. Another of the summoned fairies shook her shoulder, getting her attention, and freeing her of her stupor.
Sakuya sat in the foyer, sipping on their tea. Fairy maids rushed around them, trying to upkeep the many, many demands of Mistress Remilia, the fewer, but even more chaotic, demands of Miss Flandre, and the endless tea and snack demands of Miss Patchouli.
Sakuya wondered to themself just a moment, How will this mansion fare without me? Another sigh – Those were becoming a common habit now. Sakuya took a moment to tangle with the emotions and thoughts in their head, the ones insisting that they just go back to work, that the Mistress would understand... but defying Remilia was an absolute no-go for Sakuya. They could never.
Their tea was finished, and it was dutifully returned to the kitchen. More time killed.
Next, Sakuya went to wander the gardens. They were always beautiful, no matter the season, because of Sakuya’s time manipulation powers – Each plant forever within their ideal season. Hong Meiling was stood nearby, watering the flowers, as part of her job.
Meiling spotted Sakuya, raising a hand way up into the air in greeting, “Good afternoon, Miss Sakuya!” She called out, verbally beckoning Sakuya to come closer to her. Sakuya obliged.
“What is it, Meiling? Do you need something?” Sakuya asked, instinctively offering their help up. Wait, no... “Actually, I’m afraid I can’t help you right now.”
“Aww, not that I needed anything, but why not, Miss Sakuya? What job are you working on?” Meiling tilted her head to the side a bit, inquisitively looking down on the much shorter Sakuya.
“Nothing. The Mistress wanted me to take a break today. So I am. ...Begrudgingly.” Sakuya could be a bit more honest with Meiling than they could with the fairy maids – The fairy maids were terrible confidants as they were horrific gossips, and they were also of a much lower status in the mansion hierarchy than Sakuya. Patchouli was above, as were the two ladies of the house. But Meiling? Meiling wasn’t equal to Sakuya, no, but she was a good confidant, and she was exceedingly polite at all times, if not a bit brazen.
Meiling gave a hearty nod, “I see, I see! Well, I hope you have a good break! You really deserve it, Miss Sakuya, afterall everyone always sees how hard you work!” Wait, no, you’re not supposed to be complimenting Sakuya, they can’t take it! “You should have been given a break a long time ago!”
Sakuya’s face went a bit red, as they turned their head to the side to avoid looking Meiling in the eye, “That’s very kind of you, Meiling, but I’d really rather be working.”
“Of course you do! That’s just how you are!” Meiling turned back to watering the plants, “But you really need to be more gentle on yourself. You can freeze time, why don’t you ever do that just to take a breather before going back to work?”
It was actually a very kind suggestion. It made Sakuya flush even more to hear Meiling speak so highly of them and also suggest so heavily for Sakuya to rest.
“Because I enjoy working...” Sakuya muttered out. Meiling gave a little look their way, before shrugging.
“Maybe I’m not one to talk. I sleep on the job all the time!” Meiling laughed a nice, big, hearty laugh.
“Yes, and it’s a major problem!” Sakuya had their energy back, turning to look at Meiling, a fierce look in their eyes, scolding, “That black-white thief always gets into here! And she steals books from Miss Patchouli!”
Meiling shrugged, “Even if I was awake, Miss Sakuya, it wouldn’t do anything... I rarely ever win the spell card duel.”
It was true... but Sakuya’s job required them to be a bit of a hardass about this. But I’m not on the job right now... So Sakuya decided to leave Meiling be about it.
“By the way, Miss Sakuya,” Meiling started, “What have you done today?”
And so Sakuya talked about their day.
By the time the conversation was done, as they both went off on their own tangents and small spats, the evening was approaching. It was nearly time for Remilia to be most at her active, and it was also nearly time for her to eat.
Sakuya compulsively checked their pocketwatch, before remembering, once again, that today they were supposed to be taking a break. This still feels very weird. They thought to themself.
They returned to the kitchen, made themself a simple sandwich, and made their way to the maid dining hall.
A few fairies were sat there too, eating away at sugary sweets. The same pink-haired fairy from before, one with blonde hair, one with black, and one with green. The black-haired fairy noticed Sakuya, before making a quiet, but polite, “Good evening, Miss Sakuya.”
Sakuya nodded politely, “Good evening.” They sat down, away from the fairies, but that didn’t really do what Sakuya hoped it would. The fairies made their way over, because they’re fairies, and they are friendly and sociable. They began pestering them with questions.
“What did you do today, Miss Sakuya?” The pink-haired fairy asked.
“Today, I took a break on the Mistress’s orders.” Sakuya answered curtly, taking a bite of their ham and cheese sandwich.
“Wooow, you got to take a break!!” The green-haired fairy remarked – Which is a bit surprising, because the fairies are known for slacking off and thus getting breaks whenever they want to.
Sakuya chose not to comment and scold the green-haired fairy for that.
“Today, we played by the lake!” The blonde fairy said, with great joy, “However, we got a little bit messy in the mud...” She now sounded sad, giving a look towards the pink-haired fairy.
The pink-haired fairy shrunk a bit, putting a piece of candy in her mouth to avoid giving comment. She really did not want to risk the wrath of Sakuya after she so narrowly avoided it before.
“Why did the Mistress tell you to take a break? ...Are you in trouble, Miss Sakuya?” The black-haired fairy inquired.
Sakuya shook their head, “No, I’m not in trouble.” They took another bite, chewing, swallowing, “The Mistress just decided that I needed a day off, is all.” Sakuya always had to speak to the fairies in a specific way for them to understand them.
The fairies all gave an oooooh, and one of them, from the black-haired fairy, sounded like she didn’t believe Sakuya. But it didn’t bother Sakuya any – Fairies were truly simple-minded creatures, to the point Sakuya always wondered why hire them as maids? They did guess, however, that it's because they're plentiful and willing to work for a vampire as long as they're given sweets.
The fairies ran off, presumably to go play some more, leaving Sakuya in peace to finish their meal.
At the end, Sakuya returned to their Mistress.
Remilia was in her room, getting her hair brushed by a fairy maid at her vanity, who was having a bit of trouble. Remilia saw Sakuya in the mirror, which only reflected Remilia herself due to being a custommade, non-silver mirror which was very hard to get in Gensokyo.
“Ah, Sakuya. Did you have a good day off~?” Remilia spoke with a lilt to her tone, happy with herself.
Sakuya nodded, giving a little small bow, “Yes, Mistress, thank you for this opportunity.” It was kind of a lie, but Sakuya knew better than to say they didn’t enjoy the day. It was essentially a gift from their Mistress, afterall. Sakuya approached, motioning for the fairy to hand them the brush, which the fairy did without hesitation, bowing, before rushing out the door to go play.
“Tell me, what did you do today?” Remilia said, staring into Sakuya’s eyes in the mirror.
Sakuya began brushing her hair, soft and gentle, the way Remilia likes it, “I first read for a bit in the library. Then, I went to drink some tea and relax, before speaking with Meiling and passing the time chatting. Finally, I had myself some dinner with the fairy maids.” Sakuya knew to keep it much shorter than she could with Meiling. Remilia got bored easily.
Remilia closed her eyes, enjoying the feeling of Sakuya brushing her hair, “I’m glad I sent you out on a break then.”
Tomorrow, it’s back to everything as normal.
Sakuya is happy with that.
And deep inside, even though they’ll never admit it to themself, they did enjoy the break.

This is a GIANT sale, probably even besting the Big One from April. Very reasonable prices: $2 for most books, $1 for CDs and teen/juvenile or mass market paperbacks, 50 cents for the really skinny ones. Some older books individually priced higher but very fairly for their condition and scarcity, and they always have a nice selection of them. This is a community fundraiser sale so they lease out space wherever they can find it, and this year it filled half a vacant warehouse. The sale also runs every day for two weeks straight, but due to its distance and various commitments I didn't get to go until day 11.
And still, there was TONS (albeit not a lot in the way of books less than 10 years old). I would actually like to have gone back, because I ended up only being able to spend 3 hours there and it was NOT enough time to thoroughly rake the place over or make sure I had made the very wisest purchases, but alas, more Commitments and a dash of weather got me. >:(
As for what I actually got -- oh shoot, I keep moving them around; I already see I missed photographing at least one -- a few of the children's books above are replacement copies of beloved titles in nicer condition than the beat-up ones I have, but most of these are new to me and I'm very excited. The level of general interest increases as you get farther, I promise.

======
1. Happily After All - Laura C. Stevens: replacement copy. I didn't read this until adulthood, but it's from my era and I LOVED it and I know I would have loved it had I come across it as a kid, too.
2. Babysitters Club Super Special #2: Summer Vacation: look i wasn't GOING to collect these but this one looks practically brand new so maybe I can have one more rep as a treat (maybe even relinquish that other one in Bad Shape from the last sale)
3. Animal inn #7: The Pet Makeover - Virginia Vail: this series I AM collecting and I am THRILLED to have one that is both in great condition and that I'm not sure I've read.
4. A Christmas Carol - Charles Dickens: I told you I was going to replace my ugly copy someday, and the bonded-leather-with-gilt-edges Barnes & Noble edition is one of the prettier ones I know about.
5. A Horse For Mandy - Lurlene McDaniel: look, it's very short & silly but it was kind of a literary bucket goal to read her very first book (originally pubbed 1981), featuring horses instead of sicklit, having already grabbed another early one, Where's The Horse For Me?
6. A Horse For X.Y.Z. - Louise Moeri: another replacement of a childhood fave. My copy isn't bad but old paperbacks are such poor quality in general that I figured I might as well own the nicest available.
7. Silver - Thomas C. Hinkle: not in great shape, but by an author whose 1920s & 30s animal stories I am always looking to read more of. I'm excited to have a Comet Books edition because they have the coolest color graphics on the back (you can see an example on Goodreads here), and honestly condition isn't bad for a pulp paperback pushing 75 years of age.
8. Mayday! ... Mayday! - Hilary Milton: a random grabbed-to-read survival adventure, two teens seeking help after the plane they're on crashes into a forested mountainside. Probable read-and-release, unless the small size tricks me into keeping it along with my 200 other mass markets.

9. Touch The Moon - Marion Dane Bauer: maybe my favorite by her, a girl who longs for a horse is disappointed to only receive a china one...but at night he temporarily transforms into a real horse. Who can talk. Magical adventure time!
10. Summer of the Wolves - Polly Carlson Voiles: replacement copy of one of the all-time best middle grade novels I've ever read as an adult.
11. Lucky Lady - Susan Saunders: replacement copy of a short horse book for preteens that I nevertheless read and loved in high school. I wanted it so bad that I've literally kept a crappy paperback copy with teen marks and a torn cover from a Little Free Library...until now!
12. Cliques, Hicks & Ugly Sticks - K.D. McCrite: guess who is SO THRILLED to have found the 2nd book in this middle grade quartet (not available at local library) only two months after reading the first one and falling in utter love!
13. Almena's Dogs - Regina Woody: one of the few uncommon books in the Grosset & Dunlap "Famous Dog Stories," I've never seen it before. Probably was unpopular because I'm pretty sure it's the ONLY one that features a girl, let alone a Black one. A Goodreads friend read this recently so I was really excited to find my own copy! From 1954 originally, so it seems ahead of its time. Already read half of it and I'm so in love. I am also now interested in a bunch more Regina Woody books, having never heard of her before, but damn. They are scarce.
14. All Dogs Go to Heaven - Beth Brown: I was literally two steps away from joining the checkout line when I spotted a box of old books under a table I hadn't looked at before. This was the third one down. Since I was out of time, I just SEIZED without even enough time to open the cover and make sure it was actually dog stories -- but it definitely is and I could not be more thrilled.
(P.S. This is illustrated by a Mr. Carl Cobbledick. They simply do not make names like that anymore.)

15-16. A Separate Peace + Peace Breaks Out - John Knowles: the exact editions I've checked out of the library, too, lol (though I hate the latter because the back cover is just a giant jump-scare of the author's face. i pray this horrid 80s trend never returns). I think I mentioned before that I was idly thinking of reading them this year; I ended up not doing so but Mom did, so might try again this fall.
17. The Stillmeadow Road - Gladys Taber: the very first book I ever read from her, which would eventually kick off a deep appreciation for her work! one of several books featuring musings & anecdotes on a quiet life as a writer in the countryside, residing in a late 17th century (American) farmhouse, with plenty of pets.
18.Ranch of Dreams - Cleveland Amory: I've been idly meaning to read this one for a while. Don't know if I'll keep it 'cause it's a BIG hardcover, but his Cat Who Came For Christmas trilogy was one of the first pet memoirs I read waaay back in the day, and he just did incredible things with his money (i.e. set up an animal sanctuary. this book was published in 1997, a year before he passed, but the sanctuary still exists!).
19. If Wishes Were Horses: The Education of a Veterinarian - Loretta Gage, D.V.M., w/ [her sister the writer] Nancy Gage: vet memoirs were also some of the earliest adult nonfiction I read, starting in middle school -- I literally read every single one the library had. I don't read them nearly as much anymore, but I'm still interested, especially older ones like this (released 1993) by women when they were still fighting to be taken seriously in the profession, especially in large animal practice. We're talking 1970s and even 80s here.
20. Wild Voice of the North: The Chronicle of an Eskimo Dog - Sally Carrighar: this book is in rouuuuuugh shape, but I simply could not resist him face.
And for the final wrap-up of random books... (also featuring: the one I forgot)

21. Martha's Vineyard: Isle if Dreams - Susan Branch: I FINALLY FOUND THE FINAL BOOK IN THE MEMOIR TRILOGY!!!!!! Actually found them all in a 7-month period, come to think of it, which is wild because I have been keeping an eye out for 8 years (I do actually still need a replacement copy of the last one w/ a dust jacket, but at least I could read it if I wanted to). Reminders of how pretty they are inside, the closest you will ever get to finding a real journal:

moving on...
22. Inside Dunder Mifflin: I don't love the illustration style but I do love that it was published after the series ended, so it is able to address everything up to and including the finale. It's just such a fun novelty item I don't even really know how to describe it yet, may not keep forever, but sure fun to have now!
23. How Far You've Come - Morgan Harper Nichols: I gather she's some sort of influencer; have not heard of her or this book but I am a SUCKER for a smaller-than-average hardcover-with-no-dust-jacket gift book full of text interspersed with pretty drawings and poems.
24. [CD] Skye Dyer - Letting Go (2014): Dunno who she is, picked solely on the basis of "young and pretty white woman on cover = good enough odds I'll like it to gamble $1". I've only played through it once, but this time my instincts appear to be on point.
And the silliest find of all...
25. Dawson's Creek: The Official Postcard Book: mostly because it's in like-new condition and I simply know, I KNOW, that this kind of nostalgic novelty item cannot easily be had for $1 anywhere else.
I still haven't even ever seen an episode of the show. This would be a greater find if I could sell things online, TBH, because the true value is I'm pretty sure I could flip this for at least $10; the binding is so tight that I can't really see all the postcards well without dismantling it, and if I do that I kill some of the value, which I'm not ready to do.
Nevertheless I'm having fun looking at what I can see of all the senior-portrait-style photos; Katie Holmes in particular is simply stunning.
=====
And there we go! Biggest bummer was that despite this sale being a RESPLENDENT repository of 70s-90s teen & children's paperbacks, not a single Lynn Hall book to be found. Where did all of her books GO, goddamn. Also kind of surprised not to see any Marguerite Henry, not even the heavily reprinted paperbacks (most of which are still in print).
But the Susan Branch book -- which I forgot to actually look for, and just happened to spot by chance on my way out of the biggest room for the last time -- and the vintage animal books were definitely worth the trip.

Voile, the Magic Library of the Scarlet Devil Mansion is originally featured in the first PC Touhou Project game, Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, a game with many other parallels to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and as pictured goes on to continue being Patchouli's stage in the fighting games Immaterial and Missing Power and Scarlet Weather Rhapsody. It's also the only stage of notable RTS fangame PatchCon Defend the library! Thanks to their time/space altering head maid who thinks she's Dio Brando, Sakuya Izayoi, the library is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. Intruders are confronted by an army of maid faeries, sentient books that cast spells independently, Patchouli's direct succubus assistant(s?) Koakuma, and more recently, hofgoblins. In the fighting games where she's playable, Patchouli spends several fights straight in the library stopping everyone who shows up to blame her best friend Remilia for the current incident with zero evidence until she's annoyed into leaving and solving it herself. The library is large enough to also be the location that Patchouli heads construction of a questionably engineered rocket to the moon in the official manga Silent Sinner in Blue.
It's a perfect rocket.
Prelims round 1, poll 19

Propaganda
Scarlet Devil Mansion Library, Touhou:
It's said to have books of all kind, in thousands of different languages, and about countless different things. Some of the books were written by the librarian herself, Patchouli Knowledge. The was also probably one of the first recognizable set pieces in the windows touhou games, being the fourth stage in it's introductory game.
The Lines Between, Dimension 20: Neverafter:
Contains all versions of every story ever written, told, or imagined - free existential horror with every checkout!
"You're nothing more than scratches of ink on someone else's piece of paper."
The Lines Between is a massive place between stories, and staffed by diverse and deific librarians who are just doing their best, such as Glossary, Key, Legend and Index. The library is physically made of books, scrolls, and parchment. Its areas include the Hall of Stories, the Canonade, the Tower of Tales, and perhaps most remarkably: a brilliant view of the Auroratory. It is a beautiful aurora borealis of voices, preserving auratory stories that aren't necessarily written down. It is possible to swim up and into the Auroratory.
Fort Maria Library, Star Sable Online:
(All images come from ssoblr users)
So this is not necessarily a public library and it was abandoned for a long time (as far as we know) but the druids have it up again recently in game. It was built as part of Fort Maria centuries ago by the time of the game, and holds books from all those eras.
It is a gorgeous and expansive place with secret passageways, rare tomes, fluffy seats, old abandoned research, a lot of study areas, old relics, a moving bookcase to a portal cavern and even its very own library ghost!
It is, in my opinion, one of the most atmospheric places in the game. Even without sound on it is gorgeous and bring across its intention incredibly well, and with the sound on it is incredibly eerie. The music here is very limited and quiet, and the player’s footsteps echo through the library.
I feel like whatever you’re researching, you will find something on it in here. It feels like a place you could spend your whole life reading in, and still only have read a tiny fraction of the books there.
the citizens of jorvik (fictional star stable online island) keep all the witchcraft books in there and all their super secret and cool magic books, it was closed for years and it's very mysterious. one of the coolest characters (mrs. holdsworth) in the whole game hangs out there a lot, and it's home to a cute little capran named beatrix and she took her name from her favorite book. the only way you get in the library is by feeding her snacks and reading her books and she's also one of the coolest characters in the game (imo). also beatrix is friends with one of the horses in the game and she often is seen playing with the horse so :) OH and also there's a full heckin portal room in the lower floor!!! with a little pond and a portal that at some point the main characters (the "soul riders") get kicked in by the evil guys (the "dark riders") into this place called devil's gap (despite the name there's just one witch basically vibing in the gap potentially helping out the evil guys but we haven't figured that out yet). and it's gorgeous, if you're worrying about looks. the inside is all wooden and home-y and the portal room is also very pretty eye candy, it's very glow-y.
