A lot of artists redo their favourite piece every year or so to see how their skills and style have changed in that twelve months and I decided to give it a try as well.

This is Waywocket, my Tabaxi Trickery Cleric from the first ever DND campaign I ever played. It was Wild Beyond the Witchlight, and was so much fun.

The first image was drawn in September 2022, and it was my favourite piece at the time. The second image is my redraw of the first, completed in Decemeber 2023. How I draw Waywocket has changed so much in the last twelve months and seeing how much I’ve learned really boosts my confidence in what I’m doing. Can’t wait to see how he looks in another 12 months.

He will always remain my favourite son, and will always have a special place in my heart. As do the whole of the Whimsy court party that completed that campaign with me. ♥️

And I mean characters that you've put time into, not ones for oneshots or campaigns that sputtered out. Ones that you've had for a few levels, or whatever system equivalent you have.

They don't know their sorcerer spells or blood. They eventually figured out they're part fey, hence their magical capabilities, but the mundanity that the character craves causes the setting to warp around them.

Waywocket, their character, is a good little lad that just cannot be bothered with adventuring. Unfortunately, adventuring likes to bother them. On one occasion, they made allies with a batfolk that attended a wizard school and accidentally released a lich from its dormancy in the old libraries. Culminating in a scene in which they punched said lich with its own phylactery and banished it.

Another campaign I ran involved the party escaping from a prison that was housed inside a still-living, collosal, stone golem. After climbing out of his throat they ended up making friends with him and commissioning huge wooden shoes for him as a present from a nearby woodworker.

So, I'll be honest I'm still obsessed with DnD 5e. It has a lot of flaws, including balance issues. But I think that there're easy ways to circumvent them. Honestly, find a way to allow the most creative combinations to happen, whether the rules allow it or not.

I think the best way to play is with a lot of homebrew for this reason. When I dm, I very often find myself giving PCs unique magic items and extra feats/proficiencies, usually based around the type of area they're in or the type of build/backstory they're playing with. At the end of the day it's your story; do what you want.

I'm currently dming a campaign where my one partner is the only player. It's so much fun because he keeps me on my toes as far as expectations are concerned. Their character canonically has memory loss, so they don't know their

Vara: There she is. Mimzy, we're been WORRIED SICK. Care to explain yourself?

Mimzy: I'm just 70 seconds late. It's not a big deal, don't worry about it.
