A while ago, before the Rayman DLC for Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope was announced, I created a story set to continue the adventures of the limbless legend. One of the things I tried to somewhat start up is giving the Nymphs more of a personality, which, while I didn’t show off to its full extent in said story, I will list right now. (Constructive criticism on the Nymphs personalities is very appreciated.):
I’ll start with Edith Up. She has a stereotypical high pitched “Valley Girl” voice. She, of course, loves to eat. A connoisseur, you could call her. At the same time, she exercises a lot. She prides herself on her looks, her tan especially. She’s also a Kung Foot *fanatic!*
Annetta Fish is someone who I would consider to be easily stressed. The waters of the Sea of Serendipity are one of the few things that manage to keep her consistently calm. That, and cuddling the living stuffed animals that are Rabbids. She is generally tense when on land, unless she’s around her sisters or friends. She enjoys reading quite a bit. Before The Magician was turned to a Teensie, he used to be good friends with Annetta. When talking to others, friends or otherwise, Annetta refers to people formally in a high pitched, sheepish tone of voice.
Next up is Holly Luya. I like to think of her as the Glade’s #1 Party Planner! She constantly knows just what every setting needs for the perfect shindig! Just…make sure she has her coffee first… While she isn’t party planning, she can be seen with a surprisingly laid back demeanor at times, singing and soaring gracefully through the Desert of Didgeridoos, teaching the children of the Glade how to sing and dance, or tending to a local flock of birds! Her voice would be one with a higher pitched Australian accent!
Helena Handbasket is a woman of gossip. She has scarily good hearing. Once she hears something the slightest bit interesting, she takes the topic, and morphs it into a web of rumor insanity. She also has a tendency to fall asleep really easily (The mountain life is very calming.) Helena can also be found making an assortment of clothes and furniture at lightning speed. She’s also scared of lightning. Her voice-which is slightly deeper than most other Nymphs-sounds, as if she was from Sweden.
Now for who I like to imagine as the youngest of the sisters: Voodoo Mamma! She is what I consider to be a loner. Aside from Betilla, none of the other Nymphs like to be around her, save for an important meeting. Because of this, Mamma tends to hang around in the Land of the Livid Dead, alone.
Mamma has tried to fill the void of having little friends by taking up many hobbies. Aside from rocking out and making voodoo dolls, her hobbies include:
Stage Acting
Performing ballet in front of her stuffed animals
Being a bit of a gymnast
Her voice is that of a deeper, sultry kind of voice.
To round out the personalities, Betilla, being the oldest, is the most mature. She’s very perky, but plenty caring of her friends. She can be seen hosting meetings with her sisters in the Fairy Council, relaxing by waterfalls in Jibberish Jungle, tending to a garden, and frequently being an emotional therapist. She doesn’t really mind the last thing that much, as she really loves helping people. This also connects to her being the only Nymph who hangs around Voodoo Mamma. Her voice sounds like it does in Rayman Origins: High pitch, and happy!
Note that none of the fairies are meant to be brain dead. They know a lot about the world, and the areas of the Glade in which they reside.
Like I said before, constructive criticism is highly appreciated.

A Pizza Farewell
It was overcast and cool for a couple of hours this morning, then the clouds parted, and the sun began to shine, and the temperature rose from the overnight low of 61 degrees to a high of 84.
My blood sugar reading jumped up to 178, probably because I forgot to take my meds after dinner last night.
We enjoyed our coffee and played the online brain games once again.
Then Nancy did yoga while I crashed the ABRS site after updating the PHP. I had to go through GoDaddy support to get it reversed, which involved contacting Laurie to get the validation code sent to her from the support tech. But it all got fixed, and because the same upgrade might have the same consequences for the church site, I texted the host to cancel plans for that change.
Once I was finished with the web stuff, we drove to Creswell for another loaf of multi-grain sourdough and got two of the chipotle ham brioche breakfast sandwiches. We sat outside the bakery and enjoyed them before returning.
When we got home, we went for a walk up to the magnolia garden and back, a total of 1.52 miles in a little more than 35 minutes, a total of 3,700 steps. It wasn’t too warm, but we had planned to shower before meeting Robin and Annie and her family anyway.
We finally heard from Robin shortly after I ran to the drugstore to pick up a couple of prescriptions that were ready. He was already waiting at the Roaring Rapids Pizza Company while Phil and Leon were playing mini-golf at the adjacent facility. Annie and Charlotte had gone to get a health check.
Nancy and I met Robin, and the two of them got beers while I got a cola. We sat out on the back patio, overlooking the Willamette River. Not too much later, Phil and Leon showed up, along with Robin’s daughter-in-law, Vivian, and pizzas were ordered. Annie and Charlotte finally arrived after the first pizzas were gone, so Annie got a salad, and Charlotte got a small pizza.
Travis, Vivian’s son, also stopped by, and we all spent time visiting, and discussing the plans for Annie’s family to return to New Zealand. They take off tomorrow for Ashland to see a family friend, then they will drive down to San Francisco, stopping along the way to see the redwoods in northern California. They fly out of San Francico next Tuesday.
They may be returning to the U.S. on a permanent basis in the not-too-distant future, if Phil can arrange to get a green card. We did not try to talk them out of it, despite current state of affairs in this country. He had a green card previously, so he might be successful once again.
We left around 6 p.m., and I dropped Nancy off at home before heading to the Thursday evening recovery meeting. The meeting was held on the front lawn of the church because the inside was likely too warm. The church has no air conditioning, like a lot of public buildings in this part of the country, including St. Thomas, where Nancy and I worship.
The reading this evening was about service to the fellowship. I did not share, but I first became involved in service for the fellowship in Tucson through the newsletter committee. Because I had experience through my journalism background and my work at the time in public relations, it made the most sense to me.
Being of service helped me maintain my recovery, especially when I went through periods when I did not attend a lot of meetings. Otherwise, I might not have remained drug-free all these years.
When I got home, we watched one more episode of “Murder in Sweden.” We had to jump ahead because the navigation on the TV kept throwing us out of the season we had been watching. Hopefully we will be able to get back to those other episodes, since we have really been enjoying the series.
Tonight’s temperature will get down to 56 degrees, and tomorrow’s high will reach at least 85. Temperatures through the weekend and into next week will continue to increase. We are lucky the ductless unit that provides us heating and cooling works so well.
The only thing on our agenda for tomorrow at the moment is to stop by the new house and take some pictures of the demolition progress and pay the assistant who has been doing all that work while Kurt has been sick.

Top NYC Film Festivals 2025
Upcoming NYC Film Festivals Every Filmmaker Should Know – 2025 Guide
Upcoming NYC Film Festivals Every Filmmaker Should Know – 2025 Guide
#filmfestivals #NYC #filmmaker #indiefilm #events
Introduction
New York City stands as a global hub for filmmaking, presenting a vibrant array of film festivals that provide significant opportunities for both emerging and seasoned filmmakers. These festivals act as prime venues for indie premieres, international showcases, creative shorts, networking, and industry learning. With an increasing emphasis on diversity and hybrid formats, NYC’s festival scene plays a crucial role in how films reach their audiences and how filmmakers find new collaborators.
Major Upcoming NYC Film Festivals in 2025
Tribeca Film Festival (June 4–15, 2025): Recognized worldwide, Tribeca debuts a mix of major and independent films, featuring industry discussions, global exposure, and premiere slots. It accepts narrative features, documentaries, shorts, immersive experiences, and new media.
New York City Independent Film Festival (NYCIndieFF) (June 2–8, 2025): Dedicated to independent filmmakers, NYCIndieFF provides a vital platform for documentaries, shorts, indie features, and animation. Its welcoming atmosphere and strong networking opportunities make it perfect for emerging talents.
New Directors/New Films (April 2–13, 2025): Jointly hosted by MoMA and Film at Lincoln Center, this festival offers rising directors prime world premiere chances and showcases experimental and international films.
Winter Film Festival (February 19–23, 2025): Focused on elevating diversity, the WFF spotlights women, BIPOC, and first-time filmmakers. Its lineup includes animation, documentaries, drama, comedy, horror, and web series, along with workshops and industry gatherings.
Festival of Cinema NYC (August 1–10, 2025): Based in Queens, this festival offers substantial visibility for indie shorts and features, emphasizing connection to local communities and rising filmmakers.
Silent Movie Week at MoMA (July 30–August 5, 2025): Celebrating the silent film genre, this event highlights film restoration and heritage, showcasing restored classics and rare finds.
The North Film Festival NYC (June 10–13, 2026): After relocating from Sweden, The North Film Festival is an international event focusing on global indie and Scandinavian cinema. It features both in-person and virtual formats, expanding networking options in NYC.
New York Film Festival (NYFF) (September 26–October 13, 2025): One of the most prestigious U.S. festivals, NYFF is known for its selective lineup of high-profile and auteur films from American and international artists.
Emerging Trends & Evolving Practices
Diversity and Inclusion: Festivals like Winter Film Festival and New Directors/New Films are actively promoting marginalized voices, including women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ creators.
Hybrid and Digital Experiences: Leading festivals such as Tribeca and The North Film Festival are combining in-person and virtual screenings to increase accessibility globally.
High Competition with Strategic Submission: Due to low acceptance rates at major festivals, indie-focused events like NYCIndieFF and Festival of Cinema NYC offer more attainable options for new filmmakers.
Comprehensive Side Programming: Panels, workshops, and industry mixers at festivals like NYCIndieFF, MoMA, and Winter Film Festival provide valuable networking and learning chances.
Submission Strategy: Best Practices
Know the Festival’s Objectives: Align your film with the festival’s mission, genres, and audience. For instance, Tribeca suits worldwide debuts, NYCIndieFF highlights indie cinema, and WFF focuses on diverse storytellers.
Utilize Multiple Submission Platforms: Most NYC festivals accept entries via FilmFreeway. Carefully check eligibility criteria and deadlines.
Plan Your Premiere Timing: Be mindful of premiere policies and sequence your submissions—targeting top-tier festivals first before others if not selected.
Engage Fully: Take part in Q&As, workshops, and networking events to maximize visibility and build relationships.
Manage Your Budget: Entry fees and expenses can accumulate. Seek out discounts for students or first-time submitters whenever available, such as at WFF.
Welcome Feedback and Networking: Festivals like The North Film Festival and NYCIndieFF foster community engagement and can lead to lasting industry contacts.
Actionable Takeaways for Filmmakers
Choose festivals that complement your film’s style and intended audiences.
Submit early and spread out entries to maximize premiere potential and audience reach.
Prioritize festivals with strong networking and hybrid formats for broader exposure.
Participate actively—attend panels, Q&As, and social gatherings to grow your industry network.
Look into grants and showcases focused on diversity for additional opportunities.
Keep in touch with contacts made at festivals to aid future projects and distribution efforts.
Further Resources
Check official festival websites frequently for the latest schedules and submission info.
Explore industry publications and foundation reports to learn about submission trends and new support programs.
Stay involved through live panels and virtual events throughout the year.
Conclusion
Successfully navigating NYC’s film festival scene demands thoughtful planning, informed submissions, and active networking. By aligning your film with the appropriate festivals and engaging with programs that support education and inclusion, you can significantly boost your filmmaking career. Stay current on announcements and industry developments to fully capitalize on the exceptional opportunities offered by NYC’s top-tier festivals.

POSTFACE
Tumblr media
Mature violence TW for the dream log, details under the cut because it really is the very triggering one thing deserving the label and nothing else:
(Sometimes expressing myself so bluntly honest is not the best thing to do eh? This time I got a dream spitting out the worldscape we live currently by, right back at amazing allies of mine for trauma processing that kicked me out for what amounts to a excellent reason, so it might not be the best idea next time to push outward my darker feelings. And yes, it had axis-victory tier of horror-fuel.)
Essentially the (nightdream+daydream) dream power escalation dream interrupted by me waking up and still engaging in the fantasy of it until it felt satisfactory justice-wise. It was a fierce duel between me and Doctor Robotnik (yk the one person whom Sonic calls "Eggman") which he tried containing me in his control-freak nihilism of a world (Trying to exert control over the universe itself, and also where my sleepy part of the dream somewhat ended). He destroyed several clusters of stars (most I made were red dwarves because I got quite the vibe for distant future cosmogonies tbh) at each attempt of mine to make it begin once more, I was unimpressed and very disappointed of him.
It ended up very gruesome and vile (for a cartoon caricature character of Theodore Roosevelt, the one person I should not insult the legacy of) with him getting his brain chopped of into a machine by nobody else but William Strasse (aka Deathshead from Wolfenstein) as servant of grander forces than I, which made me smile where it shouldn't have as it has been a lingering thought for quite a long time.
I do not wish it even to my worst rivals, even the ever-present systemic dread from Woodrow Wilson's legacy in the present day (which is my vendetta these days, but one I understand the context of fairly well), but that being said, some of those really spark much imaginative energy in me with the present political circumstances. I guess it signals that it would really be time for me to heal my inner shadows and embrace positivity fully-ier before it invokes worse monsters from the human minds' psyche into local space.
Hopefully we transcend the "Burgundian Himmler" neo-fascism phase of West's decadence fast and swiftly because each week that passes on their helm keeps invoking worse and worse horrors as they reach the ocean of clades' bottom pit of despair with too little punishment.

Essentially it's a MASSIVE musical event in Europe that pits bands and musicians from different countries against each other, all with very out there practical effects, but it's not just European countries taking part. This is mostly because there's some complex web of broadcasting rights, that let's Australia and Israel participate.
However, they've in the past banned countries for the acts of their government. Best example is Russia, who were banned from the competition in 2022 due to the invasion on Ukraine. However, Israel is allowed to participate despite their own invasion on a debatably larger scale. The reason given was "to stay non-political", but this is just false, and contradicts their stance on Russia.
Hence the boycott, it's letting Israel play propaganda to a stage of millions, and a boycott is a fucking MASSIVE deal. I can't stress enough how popular this event is in Europe. It's in the ball park of the superbowl. This will hurt them and it will hurt them hard. Several countries like Ireland and the hosts of the year Sweden are arguing they should pull out entirely and are under pressure to do so.
Free Palestine, fuck Eurovision.
the bds movement has officially called for a boycott of eurovision 2024.

Greenwash ad from Swedish forest lobbyists - with new voiceover from Mattias Olsson on Vimeo.
Campfire Stories is producing a film on sustainable forestry. The film is a response to a greenwashing campaign from the Swedish forestry industry, which claims it's "environmentally smart" to clear cut forests.
We've taken the liberty of giving this ad a new voiceover; as a gentle suggestion of what the ad should be saying if it indeed wanted to announce an environmentally friendly direction. The film we're producing goes into depth about why the current approach to forestry is so toxic. See four of its main points further down. To sign up for a reminder of the release of the film, follow this link: mailchi.mp/fc4daa0fa993/a-tale-from-the-woods
Four important points about forestry, that deserve to be common knowledge: 1) A clear cut area emits huge quantities of CO2, for 10 - 15 years, before the new seedlings grow into trees big enough to sequester more CO2 than the area emits. To create clear cuts is a hopelessly outdated practice and a direct insult to the ongoing challenge of mitigating climate change. 2) The monocrop plantations of pine and spruce that have replaced the real forests in Sweden are way more susceptible to storms, insects and fires. In a real forest there's trees of different ages and types that help each other when danger looms. Through a complex web of roots and mykhorritza, the forest is able to collaborate as a super organism, as opposed to a bunch of individual trees. 3) The monocrop tree plantations cannot host all the different species that a real forest can. Thus we're left with a tremendous loss of biodiversity. 4) There's an alternative to clearcutting. When we switch to Ecoforestry we maintain or restore the forests to standards where they may still be harvested for products, but on a sustainable basis. This means we'll still have forests AND have a forest industry. This method makes sense not only ecologically, but actually also economically. Child Pornography on the Internet: A growing problem demanding new counter-measures
The volume of child pornography on the Net is increasing rapidly. The volume is impossible even to estimate. Interpol has a picture database with 20,000 images of child pornography and estimates that the number of exploited children shown to be between 10,000 and 20,000. From the University of Cork’s COPINE Project we know that for every week, four or five new children appear in child pornography Internet traffic. There is a continuous demand for new subject matter at the same time as older material remains in circulation. A number of extensive rings of Netpaedophiles have been uncovered in recent years. There have been considerable advances in international co-operation through Interpol and Europol, and various methods of monitoring the Internet have been developed. When possession of child pornographic materials was criminalized in Sweden in 1999 it was a boost for crime prevention activities in this field. Since 2000, more than 80 sentences have been handed down in Sweden for offences related to child pornography. The division within Sweden’s National Criminal Investigation Department (Rikskriminalen) concerned with the issue, the Special Objects Unit, provides vital support for local police authorities. The Save the Children Sweden Hotline was set up in January 2000. There were two reasons: because children have a self-evident right to protection from all forms of sexual exploitation, we wanted to disrupt or stop traffic in child pornography over the Internet. The second reason was our need to accumulate knowledge so we could change the situation.Since its launch more than four years ago, the Save the Children Sweden Hotline website has received more than 22,000 tips. Most have been about child pornography on the Web but child pornographic material is increasingly to be found in other Internet communications systems and technologies such as P2P, e-mail, and chat rooms. Our Hotline has been pro-active on-line and has been able to supplement the crime prevention work of the police. Thanks to tip-offs, the Hotline has contributed to the uncovering of several extensive rings of child pornography offenders. And if the pornographic material is familiar, the Hotline will contact the closest contactable point of origin on the Internet, for example a web host, which will generally delete the offensive material. In this way, the Hotline has been able to shut down thousands of child pornography home pages. The problem is that the material constantly re-appears elsewhere. Many private citizens, teachers and social workers have contacted the Save the Children Sweden Hotline to discuss the vulnerability of children on the Internet and because of real worry that children in their proximity can be involved in the production of child pornography. The Hotline has also established contact with IT actors in Sweden to inform them about the methods of disseminating child pornography, and also to offer instruction on the purely technical steps the industry should take to trace log files, etc.

Sweden, known for its strong commitment to internet freedom and privacy rights, hosts several VPN servers that offer users a multitude of benefits. Whether you're a resident of Sweden or located halfway across the globe, accessing VPN servers in Sweden ensures unrestricted connectivity and enhanced online security.
One of the primary advantages of utilizing VPN servers in Sweden is the ability to bypass geo-restrictions imposed by content providers and streaming services. By connecting to a VPN server located in Sweden, users can access Swedish websites, services, and streaming platforms regardless of their physical location. This enables individuals to enjoy their favorite content without encountering frustrating access limitations.
Moreover, VPN servers in Sweden offer robust encryption protocols, ensuring that users' online activities remain private and protected from malicious actors. VPN configuration Sweden legality
When it comes to VPN configuration in Sweden, it's essential to understand the legal implications surrounding this technology. In Sweden, using a VPN is completely legal. VPNs, or Virtual Private Networks, are widely used by individuals and businesses in Sweden to enhance online privacy, security, and anonymity.
By using a VPN in Sweden, individuals can protect their online activities from prying eyes, such as hackers, advertisers, and even government agencies. VPNs encrypt internet traffic, making it difficult for anyone to intercept and monitor online communication.
While VPNs offer a layer of security and privacy, it's important to note that illegal activities carried out using a VPN are still subject to legal action. In Sweden, just like in any other country, engaging in illegal activities such as copyright infringement, hacking, or cyberbullying is punishable by law, regardless of whether a VPN is used or not.
It's also worth mentioning that some websites and streaming platforms may block access to users using VPNs to bypass geographical restrictions. Users should be aware of the terms of service of the platforms they are accessing to ensure compliance with their policies.
In conclusion, configuring and using a VPN in Sweden is legal and can provide added security and privacy for internet users. However, it's crucial to use VPN technology responsibly and refrain from engaging in any illegal activities while using a VPN to avoid any legal consequences.
VPN service Sweden performance
When it comes to choosing a VPN service for optimal performance in Sweden, there are a few key factors to consider. Sweden is known for its strong commitment to internet privacy and freedom, making it an attractive location for VPN users looking to enhance their online security and anonymity.
One crucial aspect to look for in a VPN service for Sweden is the speed and stability of its servers. With fast and reliable connections, users can enjoy seamless browsing, streaming, and gaming experiences without any lags or interruptions. Additionally, a VPN with servers strategically located in Sweden can provide users with better access to local content and services while ensuring top-notch privacy protection.
Another important consideration is the level of security and encryption offered by the VPN service. The best VPNs for Sweden employ robust encryption protocols such as AES-256 to safeguard users' data from cyber threats, government surveillance, and other intrusions. Look for features like a kill switch, leak protection, and a strict no-logs policy to ensure your online activities remain private and anonymous.
Moreover, a VPN service with a user-friendly interface and multi-platform support can enhance the overall user experience, allowing you to easily connect to secure servers in Sweden and other locations worldwide. Whether you're accessing geo-restricted content, evading censorship, or simply browsing the web securely, a top-performing VPN service in Sweden can offer you the performance and peace of mind you need.
