What is Tableau? Discover Its Power and Functionality
Tumblr media
In today’s data-driven world, the ability to visualize and interpret vast amounts of data is crucial for making informed business decisions. Tableau, a powerful data visualization tool, stands out as a leader in this domain. Its intuitive interface, robust functionality, and versatility have made it a favorite among data analysts, business intelligence professionals, and organizations worldwide. Let's delve into what is Tableau, its key features, and why it has become an indispensable tool for data visualization and business intelligence.
Understanding Tableau
Tableau is a leading data visualization tool that helps users transform raw data into actionable insights through interactive and shareable dashboards. Founded in 2003 by Chris Stolte, Christian Chabot, and Pat Hanrahan, Tableau has revolutionized how data is analyzed and visualized. Its mission is to help people see and understand data, making it accessible to both technical and non-technical users.
Key Features of Tableau
1. User-Friendly Interface
One of Tableau’s standout features is its user-friendly interface. The drag-and-drop functionality allows users to create complex visualizations without needing extensive programming skills. This ease of use makes Tableau accessible to a broader audience, from data scientists to business managers.
2. Data Connectivity
Tableau supports a wide range of data sources, including Excel, SQL databases, cloud-based data warehouses, and even big data platforms like Hadoop. This extensive connectivity ensures that users can integrate and analyze data from multiple sources seamlessly.
3. Real-Time Data Analysis
With Tableau, users can perform real-time data analysis, allowing for immediate insights and timely decision-making. The ability to connect to live data sources means that dashboards and visualizations are always up-to-date.
4. Advanced Analytics

5. Interactive Dashboards
Interactive dashboards are at the heart of Tableau's functionality. Users can create dynamic and interactive visualizations that allow stakeholders to explore data in-depth. Filters, drill-downs, and hover-over tooltips enhance the interactivity, making data exploration intuitive and engaging.
6. Collaboration and Sharing

Users can also embed dashboards in websites or share them via email, ensuring that the right people have access to critical data.
7. Mobile Compatibility
In today’s mobile-first world, Tableau ensures that users can access their dashboards and reports on the go. The mobile-friendly design allows for seamless viewing and interaction on smartphones and tablets.

I think veilguard might be the one game with an unlimited sprint button that I've nevertheless spent the most time gently jogging and walking through. just to like... look at things. hang out. vibe. the environments in this game are so fucking good
#most games I'm extremely 'yeah yeah get me through here quickly or I'll die' about but this game... could simply vibe near-indefinitely#I gaze at paintings (treviso my beloved). npcs. little tableaus of set tables.#contraptions. and all sorts of things. just me and my little buddies. in the world of thedas. and this makes me happy.#I love that in weisshaupt you can see that the attack began when everyone was sitting down for dinner or some sort of late meal#and that they have dedicated places for where they process the dye that makes the characteristic warden blue#that they clearly have a very specific tradition of decoration there.#don't get me started on the grand necropolis or I won't be able to stop fjsdkh#dragon age#dragon age: the veilguard#dragon age: the veilguard spoilers#dragon age spoilers#in the tags. I mean if you somehow haven't found out we go to weisshaupt and have stuck by your spoiler free zone that hard#far be it for me to be the person to ruin that for you lmao#y'know... inquisition landscapes/outfit detailling etc. are also beautiful but I've always found them a bit hard to parse#there's So much going on with details and textures in a way my brain can't quite puzzle together into something cohesive#(I think it might also be down to the slightly more zoomed out perspective the camera forces you to have in that game#I've seen some more close in/over the shoulder camera mods and early builds and that works better for me)#but in veilguard they've hit the balance perfectly for me I understand what I'm looking at AND it's beautiful#guess another decade of experience with frostbite did make for that advantage at least haha

OK season 3 episode 6 of the bear is. actually not only objectively great and impactful and relevant it is also very much culturally important. for me especially. i just finished it but i cant emphasize enough how my favorite thing about it is how the episode reinforces the core theme of th bear while recontextualizing and affirming everything we know about both tina AND mikey. tina's hostility towards sydney. of like not only being young and passionate, which tina has expressed envy towards, but like. job insecurity too. AND especially why she loves the bear and the core staff and ofc mikey. "i loved that kid" "im thankful for all you motherfuckers" yeah YEAH I SEE NOW WHY. WE SEE NOW. & i just couldn't help but cry irl tears of joy knowing that somewhere down the line tina actually found something beyond this resignation with survival that she, like many of us, was forced into; that the current her is now more inspired and passionate and BEAUTIFUL and how all of that was hugely due to the inspiration and guidance that sydney brought to the kitchen; that
no matter how old you get that spark can find you at a wildly unexpected place in ur life. like that is very important to ME. AND MIKEY. SEEING MIKEY so. unshrouded with grief. took my breath away in a way that i could not explain at first. it was like really seeing him for the first time. cause we've only ever seen him thru carmy's idealized version of him. the brother he admired. his hero. it was either that or when he was at his lowest. but here, in this episode, it was like all those lenses were off. the dust was cleared. we see mikey all buoyant and bright and charming and healthy but also unsure of himself, stressed out, not so much the social butterfly that was everybody's best friend, and, like tina, resigned. it broke my heart so much when he said that even at a young age he never saw himself becoming like the carmys of the world. the passionate ones who knew what they wanted to do and were good at it because, again, even at a young age, he was resigned with being saddled with the responsibility of his dysfunctional family. the way that that conversation was shot was also IMMACULATE and the script was so evocative and heartfelt and DIRECTOR AYO EDEBIRI THE WORLD IS YOURS

I find it so upsetting that Hannibal and Will merged Randall Tier's body with a smilodon and not a cave bear. Yes, Tier was an animal, but his identity was found in a cave bear specifically, not just any prehistoric carnivore. I know that Hannibal and Will were just trying to honor him, but I think they inadvertently/accidentally dishonored him.
To me, it's just sad to see Tier, who had accepted his identity and did all he could to become part of it, be plastered on something he did not identify with in an act of "elevation".

How much dialogue is in the AA Investigations Duology (in graphs)
I like graphs, so I made some graphs about the total amount of dialogue across the Ace Attorney Investigations duology (minor/oblique spoiler warning, although I put the graphs featuring AAI-2 below the cut to help prevent spoilers for anyone who's only played the first game)
AAI-1

(AAI-2 and combined graphs below the cut)

AAI Duology Overall
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall total dialogue:
AAI-1: 256,002 words
AAI-2: 316,930 words
AAI duology total: 572,932 words
For reference, that makes AAI-1 pretty comparable to AA3 in terms of total dialogue while AAI-2 is substantially more dialogue-heavy than any of the trilogy games.
Data source: I’m using a dataset that I put together pulling from the episode transcripts on the Ace Attorney wiki (which I did almost entirely via Python, but with a bit of manual cleanup). There’s bound to be some error resulting from that process, but the numbers should be pretty close. I'm specifically using the English transcripts, so the AAI-2 counts are based on the fan translation, fwiw
Word counts: The word counts are based on all dialogue from the episode transcripts EXCEPT for the green typewriter text (for scene transitions and Court Record updates) and any dialogue that appears as a pop-up gif rather than text in the dialogue box (e.g., “Objection!”).
AA trilogy graphs: I made similar graphs for the AA trilogy here (for dialogue by character) and here (for the dialogue by episode)

from @romania on ig . “What is it about a winter storm that stirs something ancient in the soul? The Vaser Valley, cloaked in its alabaster raiment, offers a tableau of unearthly splendor. Here, amidst the Maramureș wilds, the venerable Mocănița train, a relic of steam and iron, threads its way through the vortex of snow. Each whistle is a hymn to forgotten epochs, each puff of smoke a specter lost in the whorls of a celestial blizzard. It doesn’t merely move through the storm—it communes with it, drawing the heavens to earth in a cosmic embrace.[…]”
