So I back when I watched Smosh the Sitcom there was this one joke Damien made that was either an inside joke, or just really bad taste, and now almost a month later I think I finally know which one!!

So the first part of this clip he had to "confess" something and I think he improv-ed the "I am JonBenét Ramsey"..

Which if you're like me and know who that is... I thought that was a WILDY inappropriate thing to say, its a truly awful thing that happened. (caution for if you look it up)

The second clip was posted 3 days ago but was FILMED back in April, a month before the liveshow! They were asked what they'd do if they could go on a Magic School bus adventure.

What I'm getting at is, I think it was a joke meant to reference something Angela said before and make her break (that made no sense to us thanks to the upload schedule)

I'm basing this on just these 2 clips- I'm thinking the "joke" he made on the live was that she really DID save JBR with the Magic School bus and he's them? and he was doing that thing that he does and makes the SLYEST POSSIBLE JOKE that takes me weeks to decode.. (damn you Haas! you make this so difficult!)

If you think that him bringing up a joke from a month before is reaching, 1. he's done that before (how does electricity work is from LAST YEAR) 2. The second video is the last video on Smosh's leaked shoot list with both of them in it! meaning it very well could have been the last thing they talked about before they had liveshow rehearsals a month later!

That's what makes sense to me at least! him asking if she was going to say it with him and him blowing the party whistle at her solidified that it was at the very least, AIMED at her

I'm at the very least happy that the joke might actually be an inside joke and have some lighthearted context! because damn did it throw me for a loop when I heard him say that

ANYWAYS!!! Guess who recently finished the EVA franchise minus the rebuilds and has been in a horrible chokehold over it, this anime ruined my life but hey at least its intro theme is nice……

Well, I wanted to draw some stuff for it! All together these pieces took exactly 48 hours and 20 minutes… with the cover-piece taking ~35(?) of those hours. These were… very, VERY time costly safe to say LOL,,, I am super, SUPER proud of how the cover came out though, everything on it was drawn, colored, rendered, edited, whatever, BY HAND stroke by stroke (as you can see below)

The text, the lineart, the shadows, the colors, the snowflakes on the bio and Shuri, EVERYTHING was done by hand, it was horribly time costly but it did come out very, VERY well in the end I would say (fun fact! I also didn’t originally have the textless version of the cover, and I had to trace all of the lineart for bio’s tophalf by just guessing what line when where and what the hell was going on /silly)

this was a very, very hard project to do all together, but it was also a really nice learning experience too, I’m happy i did it that’s for sure :3!

Okayyyyy yeah also let's talk about Tammy. I didn't know how I felt about her for awhile because she did very much feel like the Disposable Black Girlfriend, but I'm seeing people saying she's an "abuser" or God forbid "just as bad as Kevin" and that's just. Not at all true.

Yes, Tammy is controlling. She doesn't seem to really like Patty for who she is, and kind of seems to want to change her into someone else instead. HOWEVER, I think we need to look at the whole character to understand WHY she's like that. I don't think she's controlling Patty for personal gain or for the sake of manipulating her. I think she's lonely and desperate for companionship, which leads to her ignoring/pushing past the obvious incompatibility in her relationship with Patty.

Here's what we know about Tammy:

1. She seems to be the only black person in the Worcester social circle. She also mentions frequently how she's surrounded entirely by white men at work.

2. She is also the only openly lgbt person in the area, other than Patty, who is still not exactly out and proud.

3. She describes her entire job as "making excuses for" and "cleaning up after" the men at her job, particularly her partner (whose name I am unfortunately forgetting, does anyone remember?), who even had her plant evidence for him on at least one occasion.

4. Despite being very competent and good at her job, the white men around her keep failing upwards (she mentions a few times that people beneath her keep getting promoted) while she remains stagnant in her career. There doesn't seem to be any explanation for this other than the fact that she is a black lesbian in an extremely white, conservative community.

Basically, Tammy seems like someone who has been taught (like many black women) that she will have to work much harder than everyone else to get ahead in any capacity. She is also likely very, very lonely. She doesn't seem to have any friends outside of work, which isn't surprising given the above. It seems like she doesn't exactly have a ton of prospects, dating-wise, other than Patty. In my opinion, it's really no wonder that she clung to Patty so desperately and immediately and tried to forcibly mold her into someone who could be compatible. She's tough, smart, organized, direct, manipulative, no-nonsense and controlling because, well, she had to be. And she ends up trying to "rein in" Patty because, in her mind, what's the other option? She ends up alone, surrounded by men who force her to cover for their antics and don't care if she lives or dies.

I'm not saying her behavior is healthy. But it comes from an entirely different place than Kevin's abuse, or Chuck's, or even Neil's. And it's also not uncommon. In real life, I know many queer women (specifically small-town lesbians) who end up in relationship dynamics just like that over and over again because they start dating someone who doesn't quite fit, and they compensate for it by trying to force a connection instead of accepting loneliness and isolation. I have a lot of sympathy for Tammy. And I wish the show had taken more care to establish the abuse she faced from her coworkers off-camera.

phantom lord is my favorite fairy tail arc for a plethora of reasons, partly because it explores class dynamics in fiore. ivan assumes that lucy was funneling money into the guild and that she's not actually a competent mage because she's a rich heiress which leads me to believe rich people don't join guilds and they don't do magic. which is why they hire guild mages to do things for them. mages tend to live paycheck to paycheck because mage work is a gig economy. for that reason, mage work is probably undervalued, and that makes me think of the dynamic between mages and high society

Mages and Knights

When Erza brings the quest down from the second floor, Mirajane takes a long look at it, a frown forming on her face. She looks up at Erza. “Are you sure you want to take this one?” she asks slowly like she's speaking to a child. 

If she was younger, that would be enough to start a fight. Erza nods, urging Mirajane to hurry up and approve the quest. “Well, I wouldn't be able to go any other way,” Erza responds, her voice harsher than necessary. She's older, but that doesn't mean she's matured that much. 

Mirajane sighs but gives the quest a stamp of approval anyway. “It won't be as fun as you think. High society doesn't like people like us.” 

“How would you know? You’ve never shown up,” Erza bites. Her fuse has always been short with Mirajane, and the patronizing expression on her face is almost enough for Erza to revert back to being thirteen. 

Mirajane doesn't respond. There's nothing she could possibly say that will make Erza not take this quest. Mirajane calls out to her as she storms out of the guild, “Just don't get your hopes up!” 

The door to the guild slams, and everyone turns to look. It doesn't take long for everyone to return back to whatever they were doing before. Mira sighs and grabs the rag thrown over her shoulder and continues what she was doing before Erza stopped her — wiping down the countertop. Cana moves down the bar,  taking a seat across from the exhausted barmaid. “What's the matter with her?” Cana asks, cradling a large barrel of booze under her arm. 

“You know Erza,” Mira replies, not wanting to get into it. 

“Sure,” Cana agrees. “Why're you mad then?” 

Despite not having a proper fight since they were sixteen, it wasn't rare for Erza to get irritated with Mira. Erza didn't blow up like she used to, but it was obvious to everyone when the redhead wanted to. Mira didn't understand it. She rarely gets irritated at Erza, nor does she with anyone. Ever since… Well, she's become much more docile in the last decade. 

“Why does she act like that?” Mira questions. 

“You know Erza,” Cana teases. She laughs when she sees the unimpressed expression on Mira's face. “It doesn't help you still look at her with that condescending expression.” 

Mira gasps offendedly and straightens her back — narrowing her eyes at Cana. “I don't do that.” 

“You totally do,” Cana insists. She takes a quick swig of booze before continuing, “The rest of us have gotten used to it, but you've always gotten under Erza's skin.” Anyone who knew Mira — really knew her — could tell you that she had a look. When she was younger, it was a cruel look, full of judgment; now that she is older, the look is still judgmental, but it’s taken a pitying element. 

An annoyed growl rips its way from her throat. Cana smiles; despite the change in outer appearance, inner Mira remained the same. Mira schools her expression into a look of perfect neutrality before sighing again. “Do you know the difference between guild mages and magic knights?” she asks. 

“Magic knights are a bunch of stiffs,” Cana quickly answers, not giving it much thought. 

Mira laughs. “Yeah… guilds are places for the wayward members of society. A place to find work and family. Can you imagine any of us working a normal job?” 

Cana looks around the guild, taking a good look at each member. There are obvious answers. No job would accept Gray with his stripping habit. Natsu’s penchant for destruction and arson make him a terrible candidate. Evergreen’s too disagreeable. Nab too indecisive, Vijeeter too free spirited, and Bickslow too creepy. 

There are some who could do it. There was little Levy couldn't do if she put her mind to it. Jet and Droy would follow wherever she went, plus they were good at taking instructions. Max had a solid work ethic. Reedus could easily find work as an artist, and of course– Cana looks back at Mira. Mira could do anything. She didn't even take on mage work anymore despite being a guild mage. Cana knew Mira could leave Fairy Tail if she really wanted to. She didn't need the guild. She's grown far larger than it. Cana know that, but… 

“Who'd want to?” she responds. 

“Not me,” Mira replies like she had read Cana's mind. “Poor waywards become mages and rich waywards become knights.” 

“You tryna say we couldn't have been knights?” 

“Not because we’re incapable. I joined Fairy Tail when I was thirteen. I didn't have the money to foot the knight academy tuition. Not that I would've become a knight if I had,” Mira explains. “It’s a hundred thousand jewel fee for a year. It’s not a place for poor little orphans.” 

Thus why poor little orphans gravitated toward guilds. “That’s insane. I don't even have that kind of cash lying around.” 

“That's why most magic knights are heirs or heiresses who don't want to settle down and run their parent’s business yet.” Mira had seen it with her own eyes. She talked to a lot of them. Mira didn't always avoid high society like the plague. She used to galavant among them, happy to be one of the chosen mages. “Erza, it's weird because she grew up with the rest of us, but she has this view of the world…” Mira trails off. 

“Like a fairy tale?” Cana questions. Erza is an outlier among the guild. She dresses up like a knight and makes a big deal about honor. As if mages cared about those sorts of things. 

“Something like that. I just…” Mira pauses, trying to gather her thoughts. “They're not going to like her, Cana. Noblemen, high society, they don't like any of us.” Not even her. 

“Who cares what they like? There's a reason we're mages and not knights, right?” 

“I just don't want Erza to get hurt. A lot of people can't see it but she's sensitive under that armor.” 

Cana chuckles. She guesses Mira has changed because she would never have admitted that a decade ago. Mira reaches over the counter to lightly smack Cana. “I'm serious,” she insists. 

“I know, I know,” Cana responds. 

“Those people… they don't like what they can't control. There are so many rules that you'd never know if you weren't born into it.” Among mages Mira was a graceful swan, among high society she might as well have been a stumbling fawn. 

Cana takes a breath. “Then you're right; they'll hate her.” Fairy Tail has a reputation for their bullheadedness, and Erza is queen of the fairies. Cana shrugs. “What can you do?” 

Mira sighs, “I can just try my best to not to say I told you so.”

honestly i'm kind of interested in the idea of laios in an arranged marriage. because obviously straight-up inherited monarchies are ...bad, to say the least! but it's what the characters are familiar with (even laios' father's extremely local, extremely minor leadership role is inherited, presumably through the male line). and it isn't just about what they think the best way to run melini is; in terms of ensuring that the other longed-lived nations respect melini's continued sovereignty, having it passed down in a manner that's close enough to their own ways for them to understand it and respect it is important. And it seems like most of the other nations have leadership through inheritance - thought that isn't confirmed for certain except with the elves.

Also, a marriage carries the potential to establish foreign allies - something melini is certainly lacking. A marriage could come with resources they'll badly need, treaties of mutual defence, money, legitimacy and political capital... not that these things can't be worked around, but if laios isn't strongly opposed, there are a lot of advantages! and i don't think he would be, because that's the framework for marriage (conferring practical advantages, building intracommunity relationships and providing a partner to do important work that he can't do) that he had grown up with. he isn't exactly a romantic and I doubt he's holding out for any sort of relationship of that nature.

Like, I don't think it's impossible that they would go with this path, because it's the most obvious and it carries a lot of advantages and it's what almost all the decision-making characters would consider normal and not objectionable. and it could be so interesting.

I think Laios would have major hangups if expected (i.e., by Marcille) to establish a genuine, romantic interest in a woman. Whether because of his sexual or romantic orientation, or just his own deep-seated trauma about rejection and being inherently disgusting and scary. And I think he'd hate the idea of having kids, too, and be very frightened of being like his father. But I don't think he'd refuse on that basis; he could cope with a marriage contract, with clearly laid-out expectations and responsibilities. And when it came to having a kid, I think he'd be reluctant to express that he doesn't want to do it, because he isn't naive and he understood when he agreed to be king it would carry responsibilities like this. It's clear from his nightmare that he already felt pressure from his parents to have children, probably magnified by the fact his father has got a position, responsibilities and wealth to pass on. Obviously he isn't a perfect martyr, so he might struggle when it comes to actually going through with it - but I don't think he'd actually, outright refuse. I think he might do it even though he doesn't want to, and I think that could be really messy in a way that appeals to me.

I don't know, there's something about negotiating these kinds of complicated situations that's interesting to me. and i love a platonic marriage. If they find a woman who has an interest in education, for example, and can work with marcille on setting up schools and universities. she'd ideally be politically savvy enough to be an able partner to laios: even though kabru can and would continue to do a lot of that, there are different spheres that a queen and a prime minister can work within!

how would their relationship work? maybe she finds laios' perspective on the world, and his frankness, unexpectedly liberating after an extremely controlled, cloistered upbringing. maybe she had a rebellious phase, has magic, or something else which makes her a relatively unpopular candidate for marriage - even as melini grows in power, i doubt that they'd be getting offers for the cream of the crop in terms of perceived value on the marriage market, because laios' relationship is a bit too ambivalent/monstrous for that, and melini too new. maybe she's a widow! an older woman, wouldn't that be cool - though they'd want her young enough that she could definitely still have kids.

certainly i think he'd be happy for her to pursue other relationships, though ideally in a manner that couldn't produce illegitimate kids. with other relationships in play, that's even more interesting. like, both kabru and toshiro have complicated emotions relating to infidelity. i think kabru would actually find it quite cathartic to be in the kind of high-status environment that rejected his mother for perceived infidelity, pursuing an affair that all parties consent to, though he'd likely be incredibly aware of the public image - since "image" is what he was rejected for. toshiro... i just really really love the way he'd feel about being the "other woman" in laios' marriage, considering his feelings about his father and maizuru. especially given how much closer he is to maizuru than his mother, being in her position...! his emotions would be so complex, it's incredibly tasty. i bet he'd make a bunch of assumptions about how laios' wife feels about it and be totally wrong, and that's so interesting. also, i think laios' wife should fuck marcille (she and falin have an open relationship).

honestly foolish's character walking the slightly meta line of "oo this'll be fun content" makes him feel like that marvel immortal character who is only immortal as long as he doesn't get bored (and was played by jeff goldblum in the movies). like idk why but the more i see of foolish's rp the more solidified the comparison gets in my mind.

like it's kinda cool for a headcanon ngl and also it means i'm not really surprised pikachu-ing when, say, he flips a coin to decide whether to rat out his son-in-law, or climbs into an incubator of corruption crystals, or doesn't ENTIRELY kick owen out of the kingdom. it's not that he doesn't CARE, but..... well, wouldn't it be interesting? don't you want to know what would happen?

I think I've mentioned before that I Headcanon that Athena conceives and gives birth to her Demi-God children when she has Strong thoughts while in conversation or thinking of an individual Mortal, or being with them, and they are plucked out of her head after 9 months as infants. She can still have them the traditional way, but this way allows her to not break her vow to be a Virgin Goddess.

Now, in the Odyssey (and EPIC) Odysseus only has his son Telemachus, but it's shown that he also has a Daughter Born after he leaves named Xanthe, who's death was faked by Penelope and was sent to Troy after news of the war ending had reached Ithaca's Shores. (If any of the Xanthe lore isn't accurate at all and is made up by the story "Penelope's Daughter", they I will throw myself into Tartarus for my mistakes)

And it may be implied in what I've read that Xanthe was born Months after Odysseus left for war, but what if she was born 11-12 years after? Say, 9-10 months after Athena and Odysseus's "break up" if you'd call it.

The name Xanthe comes from the Ancient Greek word Xanthê, which means "blond-haired". It is also a girl's name that means "golden" or "yellow". And all of Athena's Demi-god children are more likely to be born Blond like their Mother.

fun fact about born a grease!! (very very spoiler-y though so read at your own risk)

Not something I was ever really going to do, but when I was plotting this out I did think "wouldn't it be funny if instead of Darry getting shot by Paul, he wins his trial, they all think things are going their way, only to go home to find his draft papers in the mail. something they'd never considered for him because he was the sole provider of the family, so he couldn't be drafted. But wait! Yes he could, because he transferred Pony's custody to Soda, so he's now free to serve." And then have a sequel all about how they dealt with Darry in vietnam instead of Soda like they'd all been terrified about happening before.

Timeline wise this doesn't work at all because it isn't the right year, but like I said, this was less of something I was really going to do and more of a, "Huh... you know technically i could." And like... when you think about it... Darry's birthday was drafted, so it could happen.

So I started the third episode of Love for Love's Sake DAYS ago, but I got stuck. I'm giving up. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't understand. at. all.

As a somewhat awkward personal confession, I don't understand hugs. I say things like "I just want to hug them" or "they need a hug" frequently when watching shows, but it's just a popular phrase to convey they need comfort. I also really enjoy seeing good hugs on screen between couples. But I don't actually "get" hugs the way most people seem to process them.

Hugs fall in three categories for me:

Sexual - The only type of hug I actually understand. Probably my enjoyment of on-screen hugs between couples comes from associating it here. I'm very huggy with my partner, but it's 100% sexual.

Social Obligation - There are times I know cognitively that I'm supposed to hug, and I've prepared myself for it. I hug my kids daily, because I know mothers are supposed to hug. I want to minimize any trauma I cause them as much as possible. I hug my dad on his birthday and Father's day, because I know it's important to him. I also know you hug people if someone dies or people are crying. Eesh..this sounds really bad typing it out. Anyways, I logically know that there are times that hugs are expected by others due to social norms or that the people I care about need them for some reason.

Uncomfortable - All other hugs (and most uninvited touch), I find HIGHLY uncomfortable. This includes if someone is trying to comfort me. If you want to comfort me, do NOT touch me.

So, this hug in LFLS...I don't get it. It's not sexual. It's not really comfort...is it? It's not a social expectation. How does this hug answer the question of "how did you live?".

I paused so I could think about it as I had a work meeting anyways, but I've never went back. Because I still haven't figured it out, and my brain is refusing to move forward.

My only thought was that it was trying to say he lived by caring about other people. But that doesn't make a lot of sense with what I know of Myungha's life so far. I mean, he did care about Yeowoon in "the story", but it didn't seem like he had a lot of people in his "real" life. Again, I'm only in episode 3.

I finally reached out to my brother as I always do when I can't process. He's very much a feeling, huggy type. For those that enjoy the bunk that is MBTI designations - I'm ISTP. He's ENFP. He delights in torturing me with hugs on the rare occasions we get to meet up. I'm sure I'll take a lot of sibling shade in our next phone call for overthinking a hug.

He answered "It's supposed to convey that they got through with help from others and companionship. It's the idea that they aren't actually alone and that they have someone there who supports them. It could also be a "love got me through" thing. Even without others, love wins all."

Which is sort of like my original thought. So was that correct? Is that what "like this" means in this context?

Glisten was a DHMIS OC before Dandy's World was a thing, right?

HC'ing that Glisten's 'teacher' role would've been something along the lines of friendship / fitting in for the gang? Something similar to a mix of the Love episode from the webseries and Jobs and Family from the TV show (Having a community of people who care about you + fitting into an environment or mold or dynamic) - a whole bunch of Yada Yada about 'this stuff makes you likeable and this stuff doesn't!!!' and 'look at all of MY friends, aren't I popular, isn't it fun being liked by people?? Don't you want to fit in with us??'

I'm uh. NOT REALLY GOOD WITH GORE PLACEMENT SO IDK WHERE IT WOULD FIT INTO THE EPISODE IF IT WOULD EXIST?? There's almost always some gore element to the episodes- But yeah basically he is the epitome of toxic friendships / being toxic to yourself by forcing yourself into a little perfect box so that others like you. And then a lot of his Oh Shoot™️ moment that most Teachers seem to have would be breaking down from that 'perfect little box' in front of the main cast.

Anywayyyys. Red Guy is unintentionally the most popular of the bunch, Duck is constantly peeved that people aren't 'respecting' him by being his friend and is trying to steal Red's thunder, and Yellow is just. Barely even trying to fit in the whole time, he mainly wants to do his own thing.

And then that probably gets him sucked into seeing Glisten's REALLY BAD Oh Shoot™️ mental break moment from questioning why and how Yellow is still perfectly happy doing his own thing and just liking his own little group of the ✨️Three Of Us✨️ instead of a huge group of 'friends,' and then questioning why he himself is even doing all of that acting for a group of people in the first place (maybe in the episode his group of 'friends' are the ones who get attached to Red and ditch him? As a show and tell for how these types of people are just. Awful. And they latch onto Red because he's the latest thing that's caught their eyes and Glisten is old news. Just a dusty mirror. And for the rest of the episode after this happens, he's trying to get himself back to being the star of the show and potentially attempting to recruit Yellow to help him do it).

Anyways there's some brainrot for all of us fine Dandy's World / Don't Hug Me I'm Scared fans on this fine Thursday the 12th, because I have been thinking about this non-stop since I found out about this fact.
