So I just binge watched the majority of the Percy Jackson show on Disney+ (episode 3 and onward in one sitting) without having ever read the books or watched the movies (which I'm told aren't that great??) It's now 2:16am and I question my life choices

I like the ML, Chen Jing Ke! Remember him from Hello Mr. Gu and he looks yummy-er. Getting a little bit of Huang Jing Yu vibes with his style and ... form.😂

My A2Z Untried Challenge Mani # 51
I love reading! 📖📚📖 We attended a fabulous author event at The Ripped Bodice in Culver City to see Nalani Singh, fabulous and prolific ~ NYT bestselling author of paranormal romance and thrillers. She is very entertaining and engaging!
This polish was THE choice based on the polish name alone! The maker description reads multichrome pigments that in indirect light, help this polish travel from a cool minty teal to a deep lavender. Flecks of unicorn flakes shift in a rainbow of colors that dance among the colorful base. In brighter light, micro holo flakes sparkle, while deeper hues of magenta and blue come out to play.
This Polish Pickup polish was offered in March 2018 for the Books theme. The maker was giving a nod to the books she snuck away from her grandma as a teen and read, Bodice Rippers. At the end of the day, when that beloved book with racy cover gets placed in the nightstand, the pages worn and dog eared, those women thank Harlequin and Silhouette for the tales of intrigue romance, and of course, lust.
The formula on this polish was perfect with two easy coats. Stamping reveals my love of books and the new addition in our household - kittens!
This is KBShimmer If You Want My Bodice.

I was planning to submit a character from a book series I was reading but then I started the sequel and lesbianism DID save her! A success story! Finally! (Paula from the Life on Earth series by MariNaomi if anyone is curious.)
hurrah!!

I'm literally so angry that I'm just now hearing about this book. It comes out in September and I have NO ROOM to add it to my TBR for the month. But I'm going to make it happen in October. (Or else.)

I saw you like Taylor Swift and well-developed, researched, authentic sapphic historical fiction (such as Portrait of a Lady On Fire) and I've just gotta ask you: have you heard of Burn the House Down by Kenna Jenkins? It's an alternate history novel abt the 1st woman president in 1945 and her secret interracial sapphic relationship and her bearded marriage with her mlm best friend/biggest foil. It also has Taylor Swift vibes (especially illicit affairs, gold rush, I Did Something Bad, anti-hero, and last great American Dynasty), a subplot about arson at the White House, ft. an entirely queer main cast and really fleshed out characters, and has a really satisfying ending!
Omg that sounds so interesting! Thanks for the rec I usually don’t like realistic fiction but this sounds so cool (really all u gotta do is say it’s gay and has Taylor Swift vibes and I’m in)

all the president's men is on my list to read but i also want to shout out to robert penn warren's all the king's men which i listened to as an audiobook and is this beautiful, lyrical, devastating reflection on the way politics can infect and corrupt. it has one of my favorite doomed, codependent friendships of all time. so, so, so beautifull written, the prose in it made me weep. like not to be "all books that win the pulitizer deserve it" i'm sure there are some that deserve it more than others, but man i get why this book won.
also i know people have polarizing opinions on john steinbeck but if you haven't read anything of his outside of of mice and men in freshman year, the grapes of wrath and east of eden are honestly ridiculously good and heart-wrenching and furious in the right way. i read grapes of wrath for the first time as a full adult and was astonished by how much is resonated as i was mostly indifferent to of mice and men as a teenager.
read old books! read books even if you didn't like them in high school! i've said this before, but some books are really just going to hit different when you're adult and yes i'm including every book you found boring in english class.
No babe it’s so cool and hot that you always insist that fantasy books written to meet a 4th graders’ comprehension skills have more complex themes and a greater sense of praxis than anything written for adults
