Tumblr media
What a first night for the Starlight Initiative's first day to the Weekend of Gift Giving! Massive congratulations to the winners of the raffles that took place on our Discord! We have two more planned for that, and a sneak peak to what we're raffling off is exclusive to our tumblr blog so far. :3
Guess who!
Tumblr media
We hope to see more people tomorrow and to fulfil even more wishes that are thrown our way! Our wonderful volunteers crafted what they could, we bought what others had a hard time farming, and we even all came together to help build some Moogle-themed walls for one of the recipients!
I know I look ever so forward to tomorrow and seeing what other Starlight wishes we can grant!

Liked on YouTube: Animal Abuse on Facebook || https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxFkhxmv5D0 || Recently I was contacted by a veterinary technician who, after watching my video on “natural pet health advocate” Dr. Andrew Jones, reached out to let me know there is someone worse. His name is Jeff Hargett and he is the admin of a private Facebook group named ‘Holistic Help for Pets’. Infiltrating and documenting the group activities has been a deeply distressing and emotional experience, invoking feelings of shock, disgust, and sadness at what can only be described as animal abuse. The thought of animals being subjected to harm and suffering, intentionally or not, was difficult to bear, and the knowledge that there are people who actively engage in and promote such behaviour was at times overwhelming.  ----------------------------------------------------------------- Email [email protected] --------------------------------------------------- Support Myles Patreon: https://ift.tt/5JKf18d --------------------------------------------------- Additional information Animal Abuse on Facebook https://ift.tt/wINDCj2 ----------------------------------------------------------------- Voice overs by Eggman Waffler https://twitter.com/BrianEggo That Creepy Reading @CreepyReading James Gurney @Jamesrgurney Daniëlle @elle_ectra Sir Sic @SirSicCrusader Michael Kitching @Bio_inspiration Tailed Feature @TailedFeature A Moogle @TheMogMiner ----------------------------------------------------------------- Twitter: https://twitter.com/powerm1985 Facebook: https://ift.tt/VqxrtyX Website: https://ift.tt/Pb4FUac ----------------------------------------------------------------- Intro Music by Michael 'Skitch' Schiciano https://ift.tt/RWSGT7O https://ift.tt/7oesuMf Dreams by Dj Quads https://youtu.be/SrJD8nC_kLM

Do you feel like fanbases have gotten worse over the years? Everything feels so toxic or cult like now, is it a social media thing?
Yes, it's probably a social media thing. These people have always existed, and in some ways they were even worse back then, because it was easier to get away with terrorizing small, isolated communities without drawing attention to your crime.
Like let me tell you the story of Sonic-Cult versus the world.
The Sonic-Cult now, and has been for a long time, pretty tame. That's fine. There's nothing wrong with that. We all grow up and mellow out. It's part of life. But once upon a time it was populated by angry script kiddies with chips on their shoulders about something or other. They spit in the face of the law, and did what they wanted. Sometimes, that meant leaking official Sega information, which the community loved.
Other times, it meant terrorizing people they did not like. Like SFGHQ or The Moogle Cavern, both places I was a part of. They would find vulnerabilities in the forum software, hijack admin access, and wreak havoc across the website. Or they would DDOS our meager little server, slowing the site down to a crawl and bloating the web hosting bill. Why? Because they were bullies, and maybe that day somebody called them out on being a bully. So like good bullies do, they puffed up their chest, stomped over to our forum, and gave us the ol' "WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT ME???" routine.
Even up until the time I worked at TSSZ, these people were still throwing their weight around and trying to intimidate others over small, simple differences. They needed to prove to the world they weren't as inadequate as they felt, so they lashed out at others over that insecurity (or whatever; there's a lot of reasons that could have been.)
It wasn't just Sonic-Cult, either. There were a number of other isolated incidents. Most forums I went to had at least one major attack, sometimes more, where some bored, unloved teenager would give in to their destructive tendencies.
And when something like that happens, it's never just "my account was banned." If you take down an entire website, you've wrecked an entire community for dozens, maybe hundreds, even thousands of people.
Over disagreements. About Sonic the Hedgehog.
Social media puts you more up close and personal with these types of people to be sure, but I feel like their ability to deal damage is minimized a bit by being so public. Not entirely, of course. Accounts can still be lost, communities can still be devastated, but it's generally a lot safer and moderation can be a bit more standardized than the times where the admin was just some 19 year old dude managing the site on weekends out of his bedroom, y'know?
Increased accessibility has been both a blessing and a curse.

wip - fashion au
The next day, while attending a lecture, you couldn't help but still think of Starscourge. So you ended up mostly on your phone during the entire hour, moogling up the fashion brand and its founder, Ardyn Izunia.
Even with only an hour of browsing, you managed to get surprisingly a lot of information. Ardyn Izunia was loved by the media, it seemed, with gossip tabloids and respectful magazines alike having written articles about him.
One article published by the magazine Metrosomnia especially caught your interest. It summarized Ardyn's career path starting from working as a help in Vivienne Westwood's shop in Altissia when he was only 16 years old. He never formally studied fashion design, but learned the trade on the job. His big break came when he single-handedly designed all dresses that the singer Florence Welch wore in her solo debut world tour. The demand that resulted from such publicity paved a way for him to set up his own brand, Starscourge.
You didn't know much about how magazines worked, but you knew that a zero-to-hero story like Ardyn's must have been quite popular among the magazine readers. It inspired hope. Though, by the tone of some tabloid articles, you also got the sense that some people loved the fact that his humble beginnings meant that there was a lot of dirt to dig.
One article wrote that Ardyn was an orphan, having grown up in different foster homes all over Accordo. In another, he lived with his single mother, while his father was a powerful businessman from Insomnia, who had paid Ardyn's mother handsomely to hide the truth about the affair. The latter's article then tried to link the parentage theory with Ardyn's lack of Accordon accent - so you knew better to take the whole story with a grain of salt.
As you were about to move on to another article, the class was dismissed. You packed up your belongings and were about to stand up from your seat when Cindy approached you, wearing a grin so wide that you could see her gleaming white teeth.
"The student admin just got back to me," she announced. "They said I'm allowed to have Mr. Fleuret supervise me, so long as Besithia's name is also on my thesis."
"What?" Your jaw dropped. "Cindy, that's great news!"
"I know!" beamed Cindy. "So I'm gonna see Besithia in his office later today to ask his permission and… yeah. It's… kinda nerve-wracking. Can ya come with me, by any chance? For emotional support?"
You opened your mouth to answer, but a vibration from your phone distracted your attention. You glanced at it and saw that there were incoming text messages from Noctis.
Come to apt asap.
Need help
Pls
When you looked back up to Cindy, you were almost certain that all blood must have drained from your face. You rarely received a text from Noctis, after all. So when he did, it must be for something important… right?
"Sorry, Cindy… but I have to… go… somewhere."
You may have stayed long enough to hear Cindy's reaction. Or you may have not. Either way, you couldn't really remember what she had said as you stormed through half the campus, trying to get to the metro station as fast as you humanly could.

Hello Silver, I hope I'm not bothering you. I know nothing about the "plushie drama". Could you explain the whole story please? Have a great day and keep writing excellent analyses!
Think it was Artnia cafe that posted a pic of a moogle cake bracketed by Cloud and Aerith plushies. They took it down within a few minutes and replaced it with a tin of mako sweets and Cloud and Tifa plushies sitting next to each other and the babies started bawling about bias and being unfair and threatening the account admin until they reposted the pic with a slightly improved moogle cake, with the reason being the ears on it were wrong. They then retweeted the mako tin saying they sold out because they're so popular.

For the OC asks: 1, 3, 5, 10??
1. What was the first OC you ever created?
Im pretty sure I’ve mentioned this before, but my first OC was a cat named Echoheart (which is why I get confused sometimes whenever someone ever just calls me “Echoheart”). She starred in a fanfic I wrote a loooong time ago (Maybe...6 years ago? I think I still have the original files on my laptop, and ironically it’s the only fanfic I’ve ever finished with multiple chapters), but I put her down to rest after I left the fandom cuz...well the fandom was kinda a mess on QuizUp in 2016-2017. She’s long gone now, but I kept the name out of both spite and respect for my original kiddo because without her I wouldn’t be writing/drawing/anything really.
()()()
3.Which OC is your fav out of all?
Last time I answered this I said Allister, but right now it’s tied between Allister and Amara. They’re both the biggest idiots out of all my OCs, but Amara hits close to home due to what I’m gonna put him through, and I just generally like Allister as a whole. So both. Both of them are my favorites.
()()()
5. Which OC has the most interesting backstory?
Mmm...most of my OCs have pretty tame backstories, but I guess I like Wishy’s the most. It’s not exactly “interesting”, but it feels more naturally grounded than the others who are more brief and straight-to-the-point:
She starts off simple enough with decent intentions to make sure her Union makes it through on top, though she plans to do it all solo, due to fearing the worst of the worst. For a long time, Wishy’s able to pull through and satisfy Master Invi, though her Chirithy notes how lonely she often looks.
However, on one chance encounter, she see’s another wielder who shared the same goal in the same Union, but after constantly stealing the enemy from each other, the two despised the other for months. Eventually, they became friends, due to a terrible slip-up with a Raid Boss, a few broken bones, and Invi checking in on them. A party was born a few months later, but its fate was being the unlucky few that would later become corrupted.
Their goal remained the same: collecting as much as Lux as possible. Seemed easy enough, though change started to root in and plant seeds of doubt in their minds. More people gradually joined, though her first friend eventually stepped down from their admin position and handed it over to someone else (before they’d leave completely, disappearing without a trace), while Wishy remained the leader for years to come.
The party’s original goal slowly became more corrupted, where the rules she laid out before, became altered to an unrecognizable degree. Everything becomes a mess afterward, and to sum this up before this becomes a mile long:
TL;DR: Wishy, cuz she starts off like every other kid, forming a party with a friend (who was once her rival), only for her morals to gradually drop as the War inches closer, but recognize too late that...”Fuck, this isn’t what I wanted!”.
()()()
10. Are there any ocs that you never introduced yet? And who are those ocs???
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Oops, they’re all my background keykids who only appear in the first worldine since none of them are Dandelions.) These three are more of minor characters to fill in as support than anything, so I never really felt like they needed to be introduced until later, but here they are!
I don’t really have much to do with them yet, but Perry and Doran are traveling traders who help out the Moogle as a living. They don’t belong to any Union, as their heart is set on the desire of freedom, so they technically live on the outskirts of town. Occasionally, they’ll talk with the other kids and offer them rare items for munny (mostly because the Moogle only asks for Jewels for some reason which is useless outside Daybreak Town). None of the Foretellers were exactly thrilled to find their kids running around with knives the next day.
Cain’s just the clerk at the shop during eating hours. He’s a grumpy mess and doesn’t like his part-time job at all, but he’s close friends with Amara and Wishy. He used to have a brother, Abel, but...some things occurred and nobody’s heard from Abel in months. Is he dead? Missing? Nobody knows except Cain.

Prompt Unveiling
Without further ado here are the prompts that have been selected for FFXV Crack Week 2018. These are being unveiled a week in advance to give you all time to fill them. Instructions on how to submit your fills to us will be given out in the next few days. Check out our faq if you have any questions but here are the main points:
-You do not have submit a work for each day, you can choose to fill as many days and prompts as you wish.
-You do not have to fill all three prompts for the day, you can fill only one, combine them together or submit something separate for all three if you wish.
-The bonus day is to give you a chance to fill any prompts that you might have missed during the week, there are some bonus prompts on this day as well but they have a little bit of a different format to the others.
-If you have a crack work that doesn’t necessarily fill the prompts but you want to submit it anyway, feel free to submit it for the bonus day.
Remember that Crack Week starts on the 4th of June, so there’s a week to prepare before you need to submit them.
Monday -Noctis x Fishing Rod -Boning the Astrals -Au where Kenny Crow is actually General Glauca.
Tuesday -Ardyn x Kenny Crow -A day where everything Noctis eats tastes like vegetables. -Roleswap with the Astrals (i.e. the bros are gods and bahamut et al are on a road trip)
Wednesday -Regis x Regalia -Potion Bottle used Inappropriately -Gladiolus undercover on Iris’ first date in a moogle suit.
Thursday -Cor x Gentiana -Ignis' recipehs start talking dirty to him -The bros are entering battle when, instead of a sword, Noctis accidentally pulls a sword shaped dildo out of the Armiger. Two of the three other bros had no idea it was in there
Friday -Ravus x Kenny Crow -Cup Noodles -The bros meet another character from the FF franchise.
Saturday -Anyone x Regalia -Fighting Titan "Wait... so... Titan's just got NOTHING down there?" -Cor saw something that made him want to burn his eyeballs to a crisp
Sunday The bonus prompts were chosen as we inexplicably received multiple prompt requests for basically the same ideas and so wanted to honour this dedication.
-Noctis x Squidward (Are you hoes happy now? We know who you are)
And, could we possibly have a crackweek without harking back to the most famous crack fic ever:
-The most special snowflake reader insert/oc/canon character that you can think of. There is nothing special about them other than the fact that they *THINK* they are special and that the bro/character of your choice thinks the world of them. Bad grammar and language mistakes are encouraged.
Happy Cracking

Thoughts on the youtuber geekcritique? He did a lot of sonic retrospectivw trying to look from a more personal and positve perspective that isn't just the typical angry gamer stereotype and also has been a fan since the "classic" days so he has a wider perspective than many kids that do video essays
GeekCritique is an old half-acquaintance of mine. We spent an amount of time growing up in a community known (at first) as The Moogle Cavern, which later was renamed Sonic Eats Rings after the original admin backed away from the community.
I think Josh was just starting up The Geek Critique right as Sonic Eats Rings kind of started burning itself out and growing quiet as we all went our separate ways. I watched a video or two here or there, but never tons of it.
I've talked about that before, over the years. I did not, and to some degree do not watch a lot of other Sonic content on Youtube. A lot of it was reiterating a lot of information I already know (because I was there when it happened) and I'd already formed my own opinions on a lot of that stuff. I did not need somebody else to tell me how things were or what these games were like.
And I have been trying to shake that. Broaden my view. Get out of the echo chamber of my own head. I still don't follow tons of the so-called "SonicTubers", but I did at least subscribe to guys like SomeCallMeJohnny, and, notably, Geek Critique.
And with The Geek Critique in particular I feel like I've been sleeping on his videos too long because, like... yeah, they're really good. To the point where I'm not just watching every single thing he puts out, but I'm occasionally working my way through some of his older videos now, too.
What's interesting to me is that even if he's relentlessly positive about these things (to the point where I believe his pre-TGC username was "PositiveJosh"), it doesn't usually come off as... cloying? Sometimes when people are fighting to be positive about a negative subject, it can feel a bit ignorant or saccharine, and The Geek Critique is good at mostly avoiding that kind of maudlin feeling. I think it's because Josh isn't afraid to point out problems, but he always finds a way to put everything in perspective. Given a couple people have told me I'm cynical and negative, it's a trait I'm a little envious of.
But yeah, he's pretty good at this. If I could get my channel up to around his level of success, I'd be pretty pleased with myself.
