Did Penelope think of Aegiale when stabbing Amphitrite 600 times with a trident? (Since Aegiale seems to be filling in for her husband and Diomedes has done quite a bit of stabbing gods)
Oh, 1000%
Aegi, despite being guided by Athena during the Trojan War, was still Penelope's closest ally and most trusted confidant. In order to be on the same wavelength, you gotta be quite unhinged yourself.
Let's just say, after seeing Amphitrite laying exhausted before her, Penny was DEFINITELY inspired by Aegi's own act against Aphrodite.

I know the real explanation behind the costume swap is Early Worm Narrative Plot holes but in my heart the costume swap wasn't a strategic thing, that was just the cover story for some kind of light hearted Wards:The Sitcom! B plot where Clockblocker and Aegis switch places to see how hard it really is to be the other. Then the nice sitcom got hit by Taylor Heberts Twisted Nightmare Hell Terror area of effect beam
#dennis: all the adult heroes are gone so we can finally have the quirky silly role swap fun we've always wanted#:)

🛡 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Astral Aegis
Armor (shield), legendary (requires attunement) ___ This dark shield reflects an ever-present starry sky. When observed at an angle, it looks as though you could reach through its glossy surface. While holding the shield, you have immunity to radiant damage and gain a +2 bonus to your AC. This bonus is in addition to the shield’s normal bonus to AC. The shield has the following properties, which you can use while you hold it. 𝘼𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝘿𝙚𝙛𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧. When a friendly creature within 30 feet of you takes radiant damage from a hostile source, you can use your reaction to magically swap places with that creature, teleporting you both, provided the other creature is willing. You then take the triggering damage, instead of the other creature, unless that creature would still be affected by the triggering effect in its new location. 𝘼𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. You can use an action to cast the “astral projection” spell from the shield, without any material components. When the spell ends, this property of the shield can’t be used again until 7 days have passed. If your silvery cord is severed, the shield is shunted into the Astral Plane and lost, but you and your companions are harmlessly returned to your bodies. 𝘼𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙖𝙧𝙙. You can perform a special ritual with the shield over the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest. At the end of that time, a glimmering ward appears, centered on your location, which extends from you in a cylinder that’s 100 feet tall with a radius of 50 feet. The ward remains at that location for 24 hours or until you leave the area. For the duration, creatures can’t move or travel within the space using teleportation (except by the shield’s Astral Defender property) or by extradimensional or interplanar means. In addition, when an aberration enters the ward’s area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or take 5d10 radiant damage. Once a creature succeeds on the saving throw, it’s immune to the effect for 24 hours. ___ ✨ Patrons get huge perks! Access this and hundreds of other item cards, art files, and compendium entries when you support The Griffon's Saddlebag on Patreon for less than $10 a month!

an issue people like to point to in a lot of public discourse is that many people have never been given the tools to evaluate the reliability of information---this goes for scientific studies, news reports, information disseminated by doctors or think tanks, &c.
liberal efforts to combat this problem tend to start and end at advice to "find and listen to a trusted authority"---by which they mean, someone with a professional and/or academic credential. the obvious problem with this strategy is that many credentialed people are also full of shit, and credential-granting institutions themselves have ideological purposes and ends. that is, an md or a phd or any other expert certification is not value-neutral or apolitical. teaching people to defer to authorities and experts is not the solution here.
the secondary liberal response, if you can walk them up to this point, tends to start and end with "teach people how to evaluate which experts are trustworthy"---but of course, in the liberal imagination this education must always and only take place under the aegis of a suitably credentialed and officially approved institution. it's like an endless redux: "ok, this particular authority might be bad and propagandistic actually---let's find the correct authority to fix that!"
as long as you're not giving people the tools to evaluate, engage with, and challenge expertise themselves, all you're doing is continuing to replicate the same power structures but with different faces swapped in as the source from which the ultimate epistemological authority emanates.

Someone interpreted Vergil's mentioning of using Yamato to close the portal that the Qliphoth grew from to imply that Vergil would somehow sacrifice Yamato.
I like this concept for a few reasons.
First, it serves to explain why Dante and Vergil can't just use Yamato to open a portal to travel back to the human world, when Before the Nightmare establishes that just a shard of it can be used to travel between worlds, and in DMC5 itself, Vergil is depicted opening portals with Yamato with no difficulty.
Second, it would serve as a great moment of character development for Vergil, giving up the symbol of his demonic power to destroy the very thing he selfishly brought into the human world would be a great start to an honest-to-god redemption arc for the character.
Third, I think it would be a great setup for Vergil getting his own namesake devil sword.
Devil Sword Dante's creation was preceded by the destruction of Rebellion, leaving only the handle and a portion of the blade.

And in another post of mine where I offer my ideas about what a Devil Sword Vergil could look like, I suggest that the blade cuts off at the middle when sheathed, and extends when drawn, paying homage to the state Yamato is in before Nero restores it.

But I think this could potentially have a double meaning. Perhaps it proves necessary for Vergil to expand so much of Yamato's power closing the Qliphoth portal that it damaged and severely weakens the weapon.
Something silly and a little messed up I could imagine is Yamato turning back into the Devil Bringer. Just occupying Vergil's inventory. He can swap to it, but pressing the attack button just briefly transforms it like in that one taunt. 50% of the time it turns into what's left of Yamato, 20% of the time it turns into the Evil Legacy, and the remaining 30% is split between the Rusalka Corpse, the Sephirothic Fruit, and the Aegis shield. I think it'd be juicy to oblige Vergil to carry around a reminder of what he's done to Nero, but also I think it'd be a neat way to foreshadow his devil sword.
#devil may cry#my thoughts#vergil dmc#also tagging this as#devil sword vergil#because it's very relevant to that train of thought#quen speaking

"Ren Amamiya, Arsene launching!"
Presenting my latest custom Gunpla - Testament Noir "Arsene"
This is kitbash of Master Grades Testament, Astray Noir and Aegis into a custom Gunpla, paint color scheme inspired by Joker's Persona from Persona 5 Royal, Arsene!

Pose Inspiration #1

Pose Inspiration #2

During the brainstorm process, I was set on using Testament, especially since Testament's "horns" matched Arsene's horns, as well as Testament's inner frame being compatible with the other parts I was planning to use, namely Astray Noir's backpack and Aegis's legs.
I was initially worried coloring the head unit black would look goofy compared to the main body red, but I think it looks cool upon second glance! Also, Testament's "sensor lights" as I'd call them, closely match Arsene's flaming eyes pattern, which I thought was a cool bonus. I also didn't want the kit to be painted red all the way, so I used Clear Red on a Chrome base for the candy coated looking parts on the kit, which was my first attempt at doing candy coating!

I'd also thought of using a pair Wing Zero EW ver. Ka's wings for this build, but I settled on using Astray Noir's backpack, namely because of part fitting compatibility (MG Testament's backpack connector is compatible with other Striker packs!) , as well as the general silhouette looking more sinister:

I swapped out Testament's regular legs for Aegis's legs, because I was a big fan of the bladed tip look, as well as the general foot looking more like heels, similar to Arsene:

As an added bonus, the weapons that came with the Testament kit are a pair of silver pistols, which are just so cool:

Overall, the build experience was great - the Testament frame is the real MVP because of how compatible it is with the SEED Master Grades that also use the Strike frame. Compared to my previous works, I had no trouble with the color selection or mixing since Arsene's color scheme was pretty simple to work off of. That said, I forgot how annoying Aegis foot join is!
Here's a sneak peak of another project that I also completed as part of my personal Persona Gundam project, can you tell who it's based off of? (Hint: It starts with the letter J!)

Wait does the heroine swap au imply that Aegiale is coming back to Argos to find her husband cheating and end up getting kicked out of her city 😭
Not exactly!
Something that was important to me when conceptualizing the heroine au was this idea of "it could have happened in real life". For example, maybe the Trojan war really was fought by women soldiers and scribes have simply adjusted the play in favor of male players? One never knows, after all!
And so, in the case of Aegiale and Diomedes in regards to the au, I imagine that Aphrodite's revenge would consist of a "Say No To This" situation. To clarify, Aegi is tempted by Aphrodite's charm to cheat on her husband with another man, later becoming so affected by this charm that she threatens Diomedes' life and he in turn flees to Italy.
History as we know it relatively stays the same. Aphrodite gains her revenge on Aegiale by forever staining her name in history by making her out to be a cruel and adulterous woman, not to mention those islands in Italy that are named after Diomedes!
HOWEVER, there are some tales that recounted Diomedes returning to Argos near the end of his life! Do Aegi and Dio have a happy ending? Or, like so many Greek myths, does thier story end in tragedy!?
Let's see how Blue and I feel once the rewrite comes around 😈
[Side note, because I've seen some rightful concerns about this in the war!pen tag. Mine and Blue's au is purely a fun "what if" situation, and we know this would not have happened irl. We acknowledge and have no intention of taking away from the very real struggles women in ancient Greece had to face, I just want to make that very clear!]

So I got the gender swapped Greek myths book you talked about here: https://www.tumblr.com/sarafangirlart/744909040656826368/so-i-just-found-out-about-this-book-i-love-the-use
So here are some interesting things in their section about woman Perseus.
-Man Danae, now called Danaus, was thrown into the hole when he was an infant along with a nurse. (Aw… :( )
-Danaus apparently didn’t realize the now woman Zeus (Zea) that he watched fall through the window as a shower of gold is a goddess but instead thought was just a brave princess. Okay, he was raised in a literal hole. You’d think the nurse would tell him.
-When the queen learned about Persea she couldn’t bare to kill the toddler because she “although a great coward, was really a kind-hearted woman” …she had her son raised in a hole…
-Oh at least the myth retelling of Medusa (Medus) makes him born a monster with siblings.
-Andromedus didn’t see Persea at first because she had her cap on and it freaked him out. XD
-Oh by the time Persea came back she saw the evil queen chasing her father because he kept denying to marry her.
-After accidentally killing her grandmother, Persea felt so bad she gave up her queendom to the Queen of Mycenae. Huh, okay.
Anyways here’s some pictures of Perseus, Andromeda, and Danae in the book.

Some ancient sources do mention that Danaë was imprisoned with a nurse, they also mention that the nurse was executed for helping Danaë hide Perseus. Rip nurse you were a real one.
Also the reason Acrisius didn’t kill Perseus is bc he’s worried that Zeus would punish him, so he just put them in a box and put the responsibility of their survival on the gods, which is the same logic ancient ppl used when exposing their children. However there are some stories/lost plays that portray Acrisius more sympathetically and have him feel guilty for abusing his daughter.
Fun fact! There is a male Gorgon in mythology named Aix (who is sometimes a girl) who is sometimes referred to as the father of the Gorgons, he was also slain by Zeus and turned into his aegis. Like father like daughter I suppose.

[Review] Legend of Kay Anniversary (Wii U)
An unremarkable PS2 action-adventure.
After immersing myself in Avatar media for so long I looked around for any other games set in Asia-inspired fantasy worlds but made by Westerners. This let me knock one off my Wii U backlog, the 2015 remaster of the 2005 PS2 game Legend of Kay. Neon Software, the German studio behind the original game, are known to me for their Amiga Sonic clone Mr. Nutz: Hoppin' Mad, and it's somewhat fitting that their final game before closure was this other furry platformer. Some of the Neon cofounders went on to form Keen Games, which seems to have morphed into a new Kaiko... the original Kaiko being the company that the Mr. Nutz Hoppin' Mad team left to form Neon in the first place! Who knows how long they'll survive now under the aegis of the troubled and layoff-happy Embracer, but it's been four years since their last remaster...
Anyway, this game is a sort of 3D Zelda-like-slash-3D platformer filled with anthropomorphic animal characters, which as a Rare fan sounds up my alley. Comparing it to Starfox Adventures may be a little generous though: this is very much a B-tier PS2 action game, and a graphical revamp for new generation consoles can't magically fix the mediocrity.
To get the plot out of the way: it's extremely Normal. Kay is a "plucky" (read: obnoxious) protagonist, using his martial arts training to fight back against the occupation of his cat village by evil gorillas and rats. He travels his island to settlements of rabbits, frogs, and pandas to free them from oppression. I think it's telling that there are no credits given for story or writing; anything story-related is constantly undermined by overly shallow characterisations, completely functional video game progression (go here to get key to open door to go there etc.), and the most brain-dead "banter". For example, Kay thinks the height of action hero quips is to call a rat "cheese-breath" about a hundred times.
The latter issue is not helped by some misguided voice acting choices. It's a fully voiced game but you'll wish it wasn't with Kay's bland sarcastic schtick and almost every other character uncomfortably presenting as a borderline racist caricature. Mostly it's white people doing faux-"Asian" accents, although apparently crocodiles are Eastern European and frogs are... Jamaican, for some reason? I was glad to find a setting that let me skip any dialogue scene with a quick tap of X, because there's no other way to speed up the tedious exposition and pointless back-and-forth when you meet enemy groups.
There's only a handful of what you might call "puzzles", and the platforming ranges from "not bad" to "OK", serviceable but doesn't excel. The biggest strength and biggest weakness of the game is its combat, which is pretty involved. You can swap between three weapons which have different attributes, you often have to get around enemy blocks so there's a Wind Waker-style roll around move to hit their back, but you can also zip between targets during a combo, or use rolling, crouching, or jump attacks. You can carry up to 5 usable items which sometimes are used to explore but you have to rely on them for combat encounters late in the game when they start throwing waves at you with hordes of armoured enemies. When the difficulty spikes like this, it all just becomes too much and goes from an exercise in creatively using moves to keep your combo up to a struggle to survive (and if you die, you lose any consumables you used in your last attempt, also there's a lives system for some reason??).
I said combat might be the game's strength and it was clearly a focus of the project, but I had the most fun exploring the little worlds. There's lots of goodies to collect, mostly in the form of chests and pots containing money. You quickly end up with more than you'll ever spend but I still liked finding it. The point multiplier mechanic may seem superfluous but when you get accustomed to the flow of the platforming sections, grabbing coloured crystals to keep this combo going to make your fights and coins worth more points becomes addictive. The level design may be nothing special but the zones you traverse have some character to them.
It should be noted that this is a semi-linear game, in that the levels are mostly open to explore with events and sub-dungeons within them, but you progress from one field to the next with no way to go back. This bit me on more than one occasion when I blundered into the story trigger to move on before turning in one of the rare sidequests or going down a side path to find a health extension, making it permanently missable. This frustration prompted me to occasionally consult a Gamefaqs guide with maps during each subsequent chapter. The game does give you a minimap in the corner of the screen but it can't be expanded to a full map so it's less useful than it could be.
Legend of Kay would have felt middling even at release but rereleasing it just makes its deficiencies even more obvious. It's still got some charm for being "of that era" (I was often reminded of The Hobbit's action-adventure game from the same generation, but with fewer instant death pits), so I got some enjoyment from it. And it has some ideas that work, like the acrobatic combat and combo system. While some of the environments look nice there were just as many drab areas, and the repeated character model reuse got old. Oh, and sometimes you ride an animal and it's not fun. On the whole, I can't recommend this one... even if you ignore the cringey cultural stereotypes!!

I have several questions about your swap AU:
1. what if logico looped around to be being
2. how many stuffed animals does irratino own
3. how many irratinos do the stuffed animals own
4. have you considered making logico live in a geodesic dome...
Illogico (like illogical get it) would never loop around to be being
Rationalio/Leo (swap Irratino) would probably have a teddy bear from his moms that he's had for very long and still keeps. And maybe some sort of spooky/cute plushie from Illogico when they started dating.
Yes
uhh well there is a sonic oscillator in New Aegis where they end up (at least in the canon of book 3 iirc) so make of that what you will?
