Helping Neuroslug help me
Admittedly it took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out and start using inpainting, but now that I've had a taste of it my head is spinning with possibilities. And so I'm making this post to show the process and maybe encourage more artists to try their hand at generating stuff. It really can can be an amazing teammate when you know how to apply it. For those who didn't see my first post on this, I've trained an AI on my artworks, because base Stable Diffusion doesn't understand what anthropomorphic insects are. That out of the way, here we go:
Tumblr media
I noticed that a primarily character focused LoRA often botches backgrounds (probably because few images of the dataset have them) so I went with generating a background separately and roughly blocking out a character over it in Procreate. Since it was a first experiment I got really generous with proper shading and even textures. Unsurprisingly, SD did it's job quite well without much struggle.
Tumblr media
Basically masked out separate parts such as fluff, skirt, watering can, etc. and changed the prompt to focus on that specific object to add detail. There were some bloopers too. She's projecting her inner spider.
Tumblr media
Of course it ate the hands. Not inpainting those, it's the one thing I'll render correctly faster than the AI does. Some manual touchups to finish it off and voila:
Tumblr media
The detail that would have taken me hours is done in 10-20 minutes of iterating through various generations. And nothing significant got lost in translation from the block out, much recommend. But that was easy mode, my rough sketch could be passed off as finished on one of my lazier days, not hard to complete something like that. Lets' try rough rough.
Tumblr media
I got way fewer chuckles out of this than I expected, it took only 4-5 iterations for the bot to offer me something close to the sketch.
Tumblr media
>:C It ate the belly. I demand the belly back. Scribble it in...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Much better. Can do that with any bit actually, very nice for iterating a character design.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Opal eyes maybe?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lol
Tumblr media
Okay, no, it's kind of unsettling. Back to red ones. Now, let's give her thigh highs because why not?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It should be fancier. Give me a lace trim.
Tumblr media
Now we're talking. Since we've started playing dress-up anyway, why not try a dress too. Please don't render my scribble like a trash bag. I know you want to.
Tumblr media
Phew
Tumblr media
I crave more details.
Tumblr media
Cute. Perhaps I'll clean it up later. ... .. . SHRIMP DRESS

I don't think people should be using mental health as a quirky game mechanic where its only purpose is to act as another difficulty or to "make it scary". :/

is duckduckgo's main search any good? i've been using startpage for a while but since it's just filtered google it's started to get the same ai listicles clogging up search results
eh, five years ago i probably would have preferred google's results, but at this point we're stuck with grading search engines based on "what's the least shitty" instead of "what is actually decent."
i don't see the AI garbage that google pushes on me, the higher standard for privacy is appreciated, and supposedly if you don't have an adblocker then you'll see less ads, too.
also, this is a purely personal anecdote, but it seems like duckduckgo prefers to serve smaller websites and avoids some social media as first page results. i.e. whenever i search related to programming, google will often give me reddit pages in the first page while duckduckgo will prefer to give me some random devblog i haven't heard of. this could be either a good thing or a bad thing depending on your preferences, i suppose, but it's pretty easily solvable by specifying a domain when searching if you have something specific in mind.
i do specifically go to google for any sort of image search, though.

a great way to combat genAI in the future would be educating kids (and teens and college students and all ppl) on art way more.
#i had art classes growing up but i know a lot of ppl didn't and even less kids get art classes nowadays#we need all kinds of art classes too! music and history and painting and woodshop and drawing and life drawing#i think art history is especially important bc it connects us to our past and shows why art is so important#and all kinds of art classes help kids develop different important skills#like fine motor skills and critical thinking and making choices and noticing details and how to really SEE things rather than just looking#and a lot of art skills like woodworking and ceramics and sewing are all very practical basic adult skills that we should all get to learn#there's reasons arts and crafts and other skill based electives are the first to go and its not just bc they're undervalued#its cause a population that feels capable and confident and skilled and knows how to think critically#is harder to make work shitty jobs for shitty pay#harder to control!#same reason they're banning so many books and trying to make education worse#damn maybe i should learn how to teach better#im already planning to at least try doing a workshop for adults but maybe if i end up liking that#i could work towards being able to teach kids#i feel like teaching kids would be harder cause idk what concepts they do or dont know at whatever age they are#id have to do research and maybe talk to someone who has experience teaching art to kids#but even a simple art class would be beneficial i think#like going outside to draw things in nature maybe#or portrait drawing#or a class on how to make comics or animate on paper to impress their friends lol#i would've loved that!#id have to do that with the help of another teacher maybe#idk#vague future plans#anyway the reason education would help combat ai is cause ppl would learn abt what goes onto making art#all the choices and skills and thought#and they'd be able to more easily see the difference btwn real art and ai images and understand why making art is important

This little tidbit is interesting to me,   Elegg is asking for a blueprint of the Tetrapod and Lily tells her that it's nearly impossible extract any from the system.   Which confirms another headcanon of mine,   Adam designed his ship with more functions and rooms than meets the eye.   Due to him always wandering contaminated areas,   he built in extra precautions so his mutation wouldn't go TOO out of hand,   within the Tetrapod there's a disinfection chamber,   as well as a little lab to make and mix antidotes to keep his condition stable,   none that can be given to others, as it's made from his own blood and can be highly contagious to ordinary humans.   Among other rooms,   Adam had concealed it all within the Tetrapod's walls,   no doors or openings to be found,   only authorized to be opened by him.   Although he shows non of it,   he's skilled in programming and can designs systems and Ai to serve intended functions or operate more freely,   he'd sworn off anything Ai related since the final war,   the system in his ship is more of an assistant that only responds to commands,   only his,   unless he gives permission.   It's a safety precaution,   since there's always scavenger bandits that would want to steal his findings and his ship if left unattended,   if anyone attempts to dig too deep and extract information,   the system is instructed to self sabotage and erase the information,   hence why the result is always garbled and incomprehensible.

im a grown ass man and im coming up with wolf 359 ocs. dont look at me
#[head hidden in shame] ive basically conceptualized a guy#so like. the restraining bolts. they had to have tested those out beforehand to get to where they are now right#and pryce loves to play god#so ive been thinking about the possibility of goddard [and specificaly pryce] having some wetware on hand to play with#by which i mean people#and the improvement of humanity defeat of death thing#etc etc#really lends itself to a little bit of vat baby nonsense#so i was thinking about like#body parts being grown in jars and kids with mostly mechanical bulding blocks with meat and skin steched over top [just the stuff she needs#to mess with]. and then i thougt#well that would be an interesting guy#esp as a mirror to hera#a human whos too mechanical vs a machine whos too human sort of deal#and then its like well okay#whats the most interesting horrible thing that could happen to the guy down in the Lhab [tim curry frankenfurter voice]#and I think it would be really cool if it was made to test an earlier version of the restraining bolt#so the upper part of the brain is replaced by a sort of aasomvian post atronic deal#and its open for progeamming for pryce sort of like a research cows might have a stoma#so she can reach in and set parameters and see what makes what jump etc#without having to install a new bolt each time#and thats a very ai experience#and ive been picturing the effect kf that [outside of pryces interference] as a very blunt severance between what im conceptualizing as#the upper and lower consciousness#so all the lizardbrain shit [im hungry im scared im angry i want to run away im in pain] is still functional but the upstairs has no access#its all body based#and then upstairs is purely learned cognition#no access to the emotional state#it doesn't feel fear in its brain. it thinks just as well with a gun to its head as it does in an empty room. but its hands start shaking#when it smells something that reminds it of the lab

All of the vocal editing Reddit posts I could find just said to use different AI programs for voice editing, so I tried one
It turned my vocal issued from the Tardive Dyskinesia into a heavy southern accent
So, to answer the question, DON'T!!!

tfw you keep accidentally making your characters plural-coded through different forms of transhumanism, multiple timeline, and supernatural/possession shit
#Matt/Void Matt: Possessed by a sentient ghost form of himself#(died for a few minutes as a kid/powers became...basically a lich form and repossessed his body/original was revived)#they might actually be a system at this point instead of just allegorical#Brynn: Synthetic hivemind/fucked up cyborg/techno-pervert that can physically sync her consciousness with supercomputers#the main one being a series of AI clones of herself that operate on consensus and keep her thought processes in check#Kane/Sulla: Dude sold his soul to a disembodied psionic to become a billionaire and is now a vessel for him#...not good people by any means but the coding is there particularly in parallel to some of the other characters#Jazz and Danza: Psionics with a subconscious connection to alternate-universe versions of themselves#which makes them particularly valuable for time travel/multiverse-related work and the organizations that work in that space#Danza's alternates are all basically the same person working towards the same goal and can replace each other if one dies#sort of a clone soldier situation that makes the base entity functionally immortal under the right conditions#Jazz tapping into alternate universes is a component of their precog ability#but their alternate selves see each other as different possibilities/versions instead of themselves all being the same person#and are not interchangeable like Danza's are#fun fact: all the Jazz and Danza multiverse iterations have different genders#all Danzas are genderfluid and the component entity is all genders + any pronouns#all Jazzes have the same 'coin-flip' intersex variation but have different life experiences and gender identities/expressions based on that#(some of which are...incredibly dark and unfortunate and live in the dark recesses of their subconscious)#txt#oc shitposting#substrate

people who dislike ai really need to hype up less-popular/unconventional artists and creators more. the amount of pet peeves i get from 'oh i love non-ai stuff' but the lack of support drives me so insane
you dont like ai art? how about you focus and show off that WIP, that messy creation, and that taboo art that you know is personal, intimate, and the work of someone who isnt ai, then?
how about you stop bashing ai's uncanny formula for 'perfection' and you praise people who post and share their creations, regardless of how professional or conventional it may not look?
for all the hundreds of thousands of notes on 'anti-ai' posts, it drives me insane at how little a 'cringey', unneat, immersive, intimate, 'obviously-created-by-a-beginner' type of creation gets.
like please, i know theyre kind of separate things, but can you at least prove you dislike ai by promoting non-ai stuff more? especially the beginner/intermediate/'obviously-human' ones?
