PART 1.

Aight!! I will be just pointing out some differences/stuff that was deleted from the anime.

Under the cut

THE DUNGEON SCENE:

-When they first meet again in the manga, they throw some silly jokes at each other (like Dazai asking Chuuya if he's hiding a bald spot. And Chuuya just taking his hat off to show him he's, in fact, not balding)

-In the manga when Chuuya calls Dazai the youngest mafia executive, in his mind Dazai is wearing his ADA clothes but keeps the black coat and the bandaged eye. I think it's a very silly detail

-In the anime, in anger Chuuya actually cuts Dazai's cheek with his knife. In the manga, the moment he starts getting angry he jumps away from Dazai and then throws the knife to the floor, not touching him at all

-Manga Chuuya falls to his knees (basically standing on all 4s), having a lil crisis after realizing Dazai only stayed in the dunegon to meet him. He gets up in a while, just to yet again squat on the floor after Dazai yapps more

-Obviously the pigeon-stand scene: in the manga Dazai is laughing to tears at this, while in the anime he stays silent. (Tho i must say i find it funny that Chuuya gets angry over Dazai not laughing,, like he tried so hard and this guy just :| him)

LOVECRAFT FIGHT:

-This is not about skk but lord yall know that panel where Chuuya ie standing on all these Guild ppl being all like im gonna beat ur ass next. He's just standing normally on the floor in the anime. Aughhhhh this panel is so good aughhhh. Ok anyway back to skk

-When Dazai nullifies John's ability, in the anime Chuuya just kicks Steinbeck from behind. In the manga, skk perform that silly move where Chuuya jumps from behind Dazai. It just shows how even after 4 years of not working with each other, they instantly work together as well as before

-Skk arguing about who's walking next to who like some preschoolers ('dont walk next to me' 'its you who's standing next to me' typa thing) then deciding that they're gonna stay at least 2 metres away from each other

-The manga clearly shows Chuuya's expression when he's talking about 'being happy when Dazai left'. He definitely doesn't look very happy. (In the anime we just get some background drawings)

-Manga Chuuya's lil blush when Dazai compliments his taste in shoes 😭😭

-When Dazai asks for Chuuya's knife, in the manga Chuuya just goes 'oh sure lemme find it' and is actually ready to give him the knife. In the anime? Chuuya doesn't search for the knife, instead he just gets annoyed

-Anime deleted the scene where Dazai talks to Chuuya about recording Kunikida while he was cursed with Q's ability. Chuuya going bruh he also annoys ppl in the agency

-those two idiots calling each other stupid nicknames for half of a page

-Chuuya mentioning keeping a track of women Dazai made cry and threatening him with sending them Dazai's address????

-Dazai telling Chuuya that his intelligence will be consumed by his hat (im currently looking at my polish version of the manga so the translation may be a bit off but anyway)

-Before activating Corruption, they yet again call each other a bunch of stupid nicknames (ahah consider this a silly form of goodbye if anything happens)

-Remember my post about Dazai keeping his eyes on Chuuya at all times during Corruption in the manga? In the anime he looks either at John or at Lovecraft, no puppy eyed loser

-Just a mention that in the manga we see Chuuya sleeping while he's sitting, he doesn't flop passed out to the ground (until later)

aight we back to Sun and Moon Show stuff in the sketchbook, I decided to draw them and what I imagine their designs to be, since I love the thumbnail art where they’re wearing normal clothes instead of just being stuck in their work uniform all the time. Decided to get creative with Moon’s jeans, I was pretty proud of myself for these designs! :D

This is so random and kind of stupid. But I’ve never written fics for any other au or creator and it confused me for a while. Because there’s quite a few I enjoy, but yours are the only ones I’ve attached like a barnacle to.

Aight so I was sitting at my desk being studious and all that, doing some homework for my class tomorrow. And then I looked up and saw a drawing my sister made for me. And it hit me a massive headache

The ~answer~

Your drawing style and storytelling reminds me of my little sisters art. Like a LOT. For a good bit of reasons, the main one being how soft it looks at times and how sharp it is at other times depending on context. I’m wishing I had taken more pictures of her art right now so I could show it off like a proud mom, but I don’t have any of it on me other than what she gave me :(

I’m surprised I didn’t notice the similarities earlier. But anyway, when I was at home she would draw, and I would come up with a story about it. Each of her bigger drawings or wordless comics she’s made, also has a story or background info created by me. We had our own little world and everything. Sometimes we would get my other younger sister join but she wasn’t ever interested so we just dragged our older brother into it. On very rare occasions, all four of my siblings would work together on it. It was a whole thing we all did together

But before I left, she drew me some stuff to hang up in my room. And one of them was Cali. So obviously we made a stupid little story about him. (I don’t remember it, but I know it was just really stupid) ✨And then more ideas were born✨

So uh yeah that’s my little revelation I just had at my desk. You’re the unfortunate soul I’ve been writing fics for because of all that jazz

Honestly, I'm so happy that people actually like my Sonic Horror AU and I genuinely appreciate the support I'm getting for my fic! :D

After writing stuff on my own for myself for years, the occasional encouragement hypes me up so much. Each compliment makes my day.

I've been writing Sonic fics for almost eight whole years now (damn, already???), and That Freak of Nature is the first one I've decided to show to the world so far.

People haven't really read what I've written (in terms of fanfic) before, so receiving comments here and on AO3 that they really like what I'm working on, that I write Sonic & Tails' brotherly relationship well despite the circumstances, etc etc just makes me so happy. I forget a majority of the time that my writing skill is considered really good to other people (probably because of the whole eight-year writing hobby I generally kept to myself until three months ago). Same thing happens with my art. I get too used to being the only one looking at my own work. Whatever is my "eh, it's aight" is someone else's "WOAH!!! THAT'S AMAZING!!!" XD

I don't know why but looking at my fic on the text document I write it on compared to looking at it on AO3 itself is just...different.

If I didn't start uploading to AO3, the fic's story would probably still be stuck on Chapter 1. Wouldn't have been the last dead-end WIP in that case, but it would've been a massive shame in hindsight. May come back to some of those old WIPs someday...

In fact, I originally wanted the AU's story to be told as a comic, but I kinda needed a narrative to work from in the first place so perhaps another time (still thinking out it in my head though but I know drawing a comic would take much longer than writing something up).

But yeah. Just wanted to say this because I still cannot believe there are actual supporting fans of my AU. Idk, never thought that would happen but obviously it did.

Am working on Chapter 9!

I’ve been gone for so long but I have so much to say and idk how to say it so please be prepared for an absolute mess of an ask lol

First, I just really wanna give appreciation for Super Emeralds (The comic creator) and their dedication to THOAM. I’ve been on Tumblr for just a little more than a year at this point, and I only joined in the first place because of this comic. I got into it way back in… What was it, 2020?? 2021? And I fell in love immediately with the concept! Sonic feeling insecure about his new Werehog form? Chip being an active member of the team and a great friend?? TEAM DARK??? SONADOW DONE RIGHT?????????? Ohohoho! You can bet I was completely on board! I tried my best to comment on every page, because I just love giving positive feedback for things I enjoy, and took note of how Super Emeralds evolved their style as the years went on. I wasn’t there during the beginning, and I really wish I was, but the time I’ve spent following this fun little comic has made me feel so much appreciation not just for Super Emeralds as a person, but for the entire Sonic art community as a whole! Art is a creative endeavor, a passionate career, and sometimes it’s really hard to just. Draw. Comics are especially hard as I’ve discovered. So just… Good job to Super Emeralds for sticking around all these years and for giving us such an incredibly thought out and beloved series. And thank you.

ALRIGHT ENOUGH OF THAT MUSHY GUSHY STUFF AND LET’S TALK ABOUT THE BLUE BOY HIMSELF THAT IS NOW NO LONGER JUST BLUE MUAHAHAHAHASHEHEHEKEFHEOFHFFPWEHFLFHD

I’ve been a bit absent from Tumblr for the last few weeks due to sickness and lack of interest so I am undoubtedly missing a page or two from the equation but OH MY GOSH. POOR SONIC. Bro wakes up from like a 2-day long nap and the first thing he sees is his little brother screaming in his face at 3AM. He’s so confused haha! I noticed he isn’t as insecure or he isn’t really freaking out as much as I assumed he would way back during the exposition pages. This is obviously due to the confusion and whiplash after waking up as his “Normal” self again, but I feel like it’s just him putting on another fascade around his friends. To an extent, at least. He isn’t aware of the new pink markings all over his body and he isn’t aware of just how worried all his friends were. All he knows is that they know about his new form and they for some reason aren’t acting weird about it, so he’s likely just playing along to make sure nobody gets overly concerned. It just seems like something he’d do. Or maybe I’m just grasping at the angst straws, idk.

OMEGA IS FIXED BY THE WAY I DO NOT WISH TO GLOSS OVER THAT FACT. THE BOY IS BACK!! THE ROBO BOYO IS BACK!!! I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE ALL THE CRIMES HE’LL BE ABLE TO COMMIT ONCE TAILS GETS THOSE ROCKET LAUNCHERS WORKING AGAIN HEHEHEEE

Also let’s not gloss over how Omega doesn’t care that Sonic mauled him to death. Let’s not gloss over the fact that Omega clearly cares for the others because of his ignorance to Sonic’s rampage.

Uhhhhh I don’t really have much else to say, honestly. Maybe I will later, but right now I’m on a time crunch so I gotta keep this all pretty concise. INT. BEDROOM - AFTERNOON

MONIQUE, a short,brown skinned,and fairly chubby girl with short black and red dreads sits on her bed, waiting for something to happen. She looks at her phone.

As MILES, a tall,brown skinned, with twin braids, was drawing a portrait of his crush at his desk, he stops and dials her number.

Monique picked up her phone and pressed the answer button.

MONIQUE 

Hey Miles, I was hoping you’d call me earlier than this.

Miles

I know, it’s just that unc had me out there on patrol and well you know how that goes.

MONIQUE 

Right, so did you hear about the trip to Florida. It's for juniors this time.

MILES

Mhm… I’m going, don’t worry ma.

Monique smiles while playing with her dreads and kicks her feet back and forth. Miles adjusted himself on his bed against a pillow and sighs.

MILES

I'm guessing you’ve found someone to sit with?

MONIQUE

Nah, I wanna sit with you, that's why I didn’t ask anyone today.

MILES

Don’t play with me.

MONIQUE

I’m not,think about it Miles we’ll be in the middle and not in the back like last year.

MILES

Wait, why aren’t we sitting in the back again?

MONIQUE

Dude, what do you think happens in the back seats on a field trip with no teachers until we get to the hotel on a bus filled with juniors?

MILES

Oh. . . right, those kids go back there right?

Monique laughs, covering her face with her free hand and turns over to the left side of her bed and sighs to catch her breath.

MONIQUE

Bruh, sometimes I wonder how you got into visions with a brain like yours.

MILES

Maybe, it’s because I didn’t get in because of some program unlike some girl I know.

MONIQUE

Okay, and who helped you out in Spanish when your mom found out you almost got a C?

MILES

Aight, you got that one I’mma let it slide.

MONIQUE

(She sighs in pure bliss)

I love using that against you, speaking of your mom, how is she and your uncle?

MILES

They're okay, Ya know maybe we should bring some snacks and stuff for the bus ride.

MONIQUE

You mean like right now or tomorrow, because I was gonna go to theo’s after I called you.

MILES

Right now is fine, we can just walk there and you and I can just hang out in my room if you want.

MONIQUE

Yeah, I'm down.

She presses the red button to hand up, and puts her phone into her left pocket while getting off of her bed. She tied her high tops and walked out her room door. Miles does the same and walks out of his room letting his mom know where he’ll be until dinner.

FADE OUT :

INT.  SIDEWALK - EVENING

Monique stands outside of the store waiting for Miles, tapping her foot impatiently. She tucks her braids behind her ears. Miles crosses the street walking towards her. Monique looks up joyfully.

MONIQUE

Way to keep me waiting, And don’t use that “time is relevant” line because I will smack you.

MILES

Hey,You know that lines work, you laugh at it everytime.

MONIQUE

God, how are you from brooklyn and you're this corny?

MILES

 Just shut up and go in!

They walked in the store and looked at each other then looked around for snacks. They stopped at the drinks and both grabbed root beers.

MILES

So what else should we get, I mean food stamps can only get so much you know.

MONIQUE

Yeah I know, but some candy should do it or maybe some chips?

MILES

Hot cheetos!

MONIQUE

(She shivers)

EW, those things are practically made out of wax!

MILES

Huh?

MONIQUE

Remember in third grade, when you melted one on the playground and it actually happened?

MILES

Oh yeah, I forgot about that well whatever I’m still gonna eat em’.

MONIQUE

You're so disgusting.

Monique picks up a bag of sea salt chips, two cans of pringles, and a ginger ale, as Miles gets a bag of hot cheetos, some skittles,and some orange soda, as they both walk to the checkout counter Miles followed right behind her and paid for their stuff, they walked onto the sidewalk and continued walking forward down the sidewalk.

MILES

So, your place or mine?

MONIQUE

Yours,Anyways don’t you think it’s weird how we’re getting this high class trip to Miami, I mean like where did BVA get the money from to do these trips?

MILES

I mean it is a boarding school, so maybe like public funding or government funding?

MONIQUE

Yeah,sure. . .

MILES

So, who do you think is gonna be your roommate?

MONIQUE

I was hoping for you, but it’s obvious that we’re all going separated by gender and I don’t blame them.

MILES

What, You think some kids have the balls to sneak into each others rooms just to fu-

      (Monique covers his mouth mid sentence and lets go.)

MONIQUE

Stop and think for a minute, what happens when two idiot teenagers are alone with each other in the same room at night?

MILES

Okay but we’re young, it’s bound to happen plus with no teachers on the bus… yeah it’s not gonna go well.

MONIQUE

Ya think?!

Miles and Monique walked into a rooming house and shut the door behind them walking up to door 208. Miles opened the door greeting his mother RIO and closed the door behind him.

RIO

Miles, is that you?

MILES

Yeah, I’m back from the corner store with monique. 

RIO

Good, dinner should be done in a little bit. Monique, it's nice for you to come over again, how's your mother?

MONIQUE

She’s alright, I’m just over here to talk to Miles about the school’s trip to Florida. The school is giving the juniors a chance for a trip.

RIO

Right that trip, I’m just counting on you to keep my son in good shape and out of trouble.

MILES

Mami,I’m not a little kid any more I'm 16,Entonces no preocuparse por favor. 

RIO

Cortar el afuera mijo, don't tell me not to worry for your safety.

MILES

Ma,don't worry about me. I'll call you when me and monique get on the bus and when we get to the hotel,yo promesa.

Miles and Monique eat dinner as they finished they helped Rio washes dishes, afterwards They enter Miles’s room keeping the door creaked open sitting on his bed.

MILES

Aight, did we get everything for the trip tomorrow? 

MONIQUE

Yup, snack wise but everything else is up to us on what to pack like hygiene and clothes, but I mean this is our first trip till we’re seniors and the only time we won’t be wearing our uniforms.

MILES

True, so what time do you need to head home again?

MONIQUE

Before the streetlights,speaking of that rule, haven't you wondered why that was our curfew growing up?

MILES

I don't know, but I'm thinking about seeing all the pretty girls out there…

MONIQUE

Um, hello you have a girlfriend sitting dead in front of you!

MILES

Right, my bad mi vida.

FADE IN :

INT. IN THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL - DAY

Miles, Monique, and other kids of the school stood outside waiting for the buses. Monique held Miles’s hand while on her other hand she was  biting her nails.

MILES

You're holding my hand a little tight there, you good?

MONIQUE

Yeah, it’s just what I’m feeling right now, I don’t know if I should be nervous or excited.

MILES

(spoke with a smile on his face)

You’ll be fine ma, you're sitting with me in the middle and I’ll just give you my earbuds.

MONIQUE

(sighs)

Thanks Miles, but I’m fine I just haven’t been on a trip in a minute ya know?

MILES

I get it, just take a deep breath and wait for the bus.

MONIQUE

(with a calm yet nervous tone)

Okay, I’ll try to calm down.

The school buses pulled up to the front of the academy. After every group got done with attendance from their teachers, each class walked on the buses and sat down in a seat with their baggage, Miles and Monique sat in a random three sitter in the middle row and sighed.

MILES

Well, this is it. I'm hoping we can go shopping or head to Universal or Disney world.

MONIQUE

And where’s the money to do all that Morales?

MILES

I have a job, it ain’t like I’m broke or something.

MONIQUE

(she says while laughing, she rolled her eyes and looked at him shaking her head.)

That doesn't mean you're rich either,look I have enough money for shopping but knowing visions they’d probably give a free trip to disney like they did with the seniors last year.

MILES

(He puts his earbuds in and starts a playlist called “MM ♥ ️ MJ” holding one out for her to take.)

 So, you wanna listen with me or do you wanna hear the yelling of screaming banshees?

MONIQUE (she takes the earbud and put its in her right ear and puts her head on his shoulder, she sighs as the bus starts to move looking out window. )

So you're not gonna call her yet, I mean your mom is still worried about you. 

MILES

Yeah I know, but… I’ll call her when we make it to the hotel or something.

MONIQUE

Alright, but can we please stop listening to post malone? like play some tyler or just anything else?

Miles rolled his eyes as he chuckled to her and put his hands on her waist. Monique smiled at him tuning out the rest of their class all at once and focusing on him.

FADE IN :

INT. A Gas station - EVENING  

A group of students were hanging around the gas station or going to the bathroom, miles and monique walked into the covenant store looking around.

MILES

So you gettin’ any snacks or drinks, because I got enough for a little something if you want.

MONIQUE

Maybe, but we still got the stuff we got from theo’s and that should hold us off for a bit.

MILES

Right, let’s go outside and wait till the bus is fueled up I guess.

They walked outside the store sitting on the curb, Monique pulled a blunt out her pocket lighting it and taking a small drag passing it to him.

MILES

Hey I wanted to ask, what did you see in me to like ask me out and stuff?

MONIQUE

Well, I mean you and me are like out of at least 15 other the only black kids there at visions,but besides all that I like that you're a geek and you're pretty,and your freckles are like stars in a way I don’t know but I'm bound to you.

MILES

Wow I mean, I like you too and that beauty mark of yours yeah I know about it you don’t even have to hide it,and if you’d let me can I take you out during the trip?

MONIQUE

(She scoffs at him, while taking a drag she passes it back to him.)

In your dreams Morales, but hey game recognize game don’t think I don’t know bout it.

MILES

 (He takes the last puff and steps on it, putting it out on the sidewalk and standing up with Monique.)

Yeah, whatever you say.

All the students got back on the bus and in their seats,as Miles and Monique went back to the middle row and sat down listening to their playlist getting lost in their own little world and the bus was back on the road again.

FADE OUT :

INT. HOTEL HALLWAY - NIGHT

Monique and Miles walked in the hallway until they stopped at a door with the numbers 103, and with a keycard she opened the door and let themselves in sitting on the bed.

MONIQUE

So, let’s fill out the plan sheet tonight then tomorrow we'll know what to do that day so we won’t be lost.

MILES

Do you ever not use a planner sheet? Monique, come on, at least try to have actual fun.

MONIQUE

But Miles I just wanna be sure. Also, did you call your mom yet because she called me and texted me “thanks for picking up and telling him when he gets back, we’re gonna have a talk.” 

MILES

(He sucked his teeth as he sat beside Monique on the bed.)

Wow, yeah that sounds about right… So do you wanna stay up or?

MONIQUE

Do you even have to ask?

They spent the whole time talking about anything yet nothing at the same time, again getting lost in their little world as the Florida rain fell from the sky hitting softly on the ground while the streetlight shining through the window.

Fade out :

Time lapse throughout the whole trip from different places from the mall, disney world, universal, and now it’s the last day after packing their things Miles and Monique joined the rest of their class along with teachers still doing attendance. The buses pulled up to the front of the hotel and all the students got on the bus and sat in the same seats that sat on the way there.

INT. IN FRONT OF BVA - AFTERNOON

After all the students got off the buses everyone’s parents came to pick up their kids, as miles and monique waited for miles’s uncle AARON to pull up and as if right on que he pulled up on the curb and the two got in the back.

AARON

So who’s this girl? I thought it was just you I was picking up.

MILES

Oh, this is my… partner Monique. She’s Ms.Jackson's daughter and they live on the same floor as me and mom.

AARON

And y'all haven’t?

MILES

 Just drive!

AARON

Alright alright, how was the trip? y'all had fun?

MONIQUE

Yeah, Florida was nice and didn't worry him and I didn’t get in much trouble.

AARON

Good, somebody has to keep a good eye on him if I’m not around and you seem to fit the role very well if his mom trusts you that much.

MONIQUE

Wow, so you are the problem child. I had a feeling about that.

MILES

(He playfully hit her shoulder while he laughed.)

Shut up, that was one time and one time only!

MONIQUE

Uh-huh, keep telling yourself that miles I mean whatever helps with the denial.

Fade in : 

INT. THE ROOMING HOUSE - EVENING

Aaron’s car pulled to the rooming house as Miles and Monique got out of the car they walked to the door, Miles pressed the buzzer letting his mom their back and Aaron's car pulled away and the two went inside and walked up the stairs and to their doors.

MILES

So, I’ll see you on monday?

MONIQUE

Dude, it’s not like I can skip school plus you're kinda the only reason I go anyways… Goodnight Miles.

MILES

Right, good night Moni.

She walked up to him giving a small kiss on his two toned lips, as they broke the kiss she smiled at him and walked inside her apartment, Miles doing the same.

Hi so idk if I’m shadowbanned or something but my posts have been getting lower notes than usual to a concerning degree🧍‍♀️ Like half as much as it usually gets and one post even had 0 notes for like two days which isn’t normal for me-

I wanted to try something a lil comic-like even tho my usual style is more so making my art look like screenshots from a movie or show but my bestie @yosajaeofficial just kept inspiring me from their comic work so here I am✨✨✨ I might do this a lil more often since it was pretty fun to play with

Aight, time for some Thanksgiving Baldur's Gate bc all I am doing is hanging about the house. :D

We left off having finally made it to relative safety in the Last Light Inn and there are a number of things we need to do here (particularly having a drink with Jaheira), but the first priority before everything else is:

I think we can finally get Karlach's quest moving. The tiefling refugees (what's left of them) are definitely here, so before we do anything else, I want to go find the mechanic and see if he can do something for her engine. Because Hector is, let's be honest, definitely kinda falling for her and we need to open her dialogue tree up. XD

And there he is!

Hanging out in the stables with a forge and several oxen.

This guy, Dammon, is such a good dude tbh - and apparently Karlach knows him!

"The weaponsmith, right? Drafted into the Blood War when your city was swallowed by Avernus. Not too different from my own story. Well done making it out alive!"

Dammon recognizes immediately that she had an infernal engine and that it's busted; he has a listen and already has some ideas. He mentions needing infernal iron, and Karlach gets all excited at once.

"Hey, Soldier - we've got some infernal iron already! Let's give it to him, hey?"

Hector, of course, gives it to him eagerly - he's as invested in this as Karlach is, almost.

A bit of a letdown on the animation here to be honest. Dammon hammered on the iron for a bit and then told her she'd have to install it, and there was a shot of Karlach, from behind, fiddling with something in her chest area, and then she was done. Feels a bit handwavy tbh.

On the bright side...she's thrilled with the progress and gets all smiley!

"That feels...good! I'm still burning hot as Hell's hole, but I feel less...changeable. Cheers, mate!"

"Pleasure. As for the heat, I haven't got any solutions now, but I"m not giving up. Could be if the combustion chamber had its own insulation, or if we had some kind of enchanted coolant... Let me sleep on it. I just might be able to work something out. Hopefully the next time I see you, I'll have something promising to report. I'll need more infernal iron either way, though, so keep your eyes open."

Perfect. We'll do the other stuff in Last Light and then take a long rest and come back and talk to him again and decide where to go from there. (I might cheat and find out where more infernal iron is because I am a weak woman ultimately. :P )

Obviously we talk to Karlach again after...

"Dammon's upgrade didn't cool me down, but it did juice me up! I don't think I've ever felt more powerful."

It's obvious, just from looking at her, how much better she feels. He can see the energy coursing through her, a brighter light in her eyes. She's ready to fight, ready to move, ready to do anything.

He is happy for her. Of course he is. This is safety; she's no longer in danger of the thing spiraling out of control.

And yet...without realizing it, he had built this moment up in his mind; they would find the infernal mechanic, and then Karlach would be healed. The heat would fade, and perhaps he could...put a hand on hers in a difficult moment, touch her shoulder for encouragement...hold her...be held by her...

The thoughts have been percolating for some time, unacknowledged, and suddenly are surging to the forefront, unable to be ignored any longer. She has been his comfort in these awful frontiers. For a man who has spent his life in secluded study, these are feelings he does not quite know yet how to process...but they are inescapable.

And the words slip from him, longing, bewildered, before he knows he is going to say them.

"I still can't touch you, though..."

Her head draws back, surprised - and then a slight smile tugs the corners of her mouth. "Do you want to?" she asks.

He feels his own all-too-human heart start to thump with a power to rival the engine's. His throat suddenly feels slightly too tight. "Of course I do..." he says softly.

He wishes he wasn't so acutely aware of Gale and Shadowheart standing nearby. Gale has turned and begun studying the wall of the stable with academic interest, but Shadowheart is watching this play out with an unreadable expression.

He isn't sure what he expects. Some dramatic declaration of feelings he doesn't have words for, perhaps. But Karlach's smile just deepens, and she tips her head to one side. "I'd like that," she says. Her eyes flick across him from feet to head, then lock back on his gaze, burning like infernal embers. "Now...let's find that infernal iron, before I overheat."

Aight, you want some goddamn inspiration? After a very long day in airport purgatory I'm finally back home and realized I had access to my old art.

Here's my OC from high school back in 2012 when I was really into the DC superheroes and Young Justice:

Her name was Andrea Reyes, she was basically Batman on a college student's budget. She looked like shit but damn did I draw her a bunch and almost almost made a webcomic before I realized how absolutely painful that was to do.

This was a sketch I did of Yosemite - dunno when this was done. Probably around the same time tho.

12 goddamn years I've been drawing, not 12 years straight - I had a long lull in there when I just had trouble functioning at all and didn't do any art as a consequence.

I started back up in earnest in 2020. This was one of my first drawings. Was based on a Mount and Blade character someone on YouTube made.

I can think of about 50 ways to improve that but that's not what we're doing rn.

4 years later, after struggling and I mean STRUGGLING with my mental health, how I view myself as an artist, whether to call myself an artist ... Whether to keep creating. I almost stopped many many many times.

So I'm on my laptop rn so a lot of these are gonna be screenshots of WIPs because that's what OneDrive pulled over so:

Yes you're going to feel shitty about your art. It's okay to feel that way (when it evolves into self hatred though, that's when you need to take a step back and also maybe get some professional help for your mental health). Legit, dissatisfaction with your work is a thing most creatives are going to experience because we have that drive, that determination, that knowledge that "yeah I'm good but I can be better". You'll plateau, you'll feel like everything that's coming out is complete garbage ... but you'll keep going because not creating hurts worse than creating stuff you think is absolute shit.

And one fine day, you're going to experiment with something, and it's going to click with you. Suddenly, you're going to start improving. Then yeah, you might plateau again until you find something else to try and incorporate into your piece.

Art isn't about banging out masterpiece after masterpiece. It's not constant perfection.

It's about growth. It's about progress.

That's what makes it so infuriating yet satisfying to me. It's knowing I can do better and practicing and practicing and practicing ... then one day something clicks. One day I realize how I can make it better and then I do that.

Watched the first Cars movie when I was 3 years old (it was in 2006 and they aired it on the local TV) and instantly loved it afterwards :D I used to bring my Cars backpack+stationery set and several Cars toys to the kindergarten... And got judged by the teacher bc I was supposed to act "girly" so I stopped letting people know that I love our beloved sentient vehicles 😔

I didn't know WoC fandom existed until... Last May? June? I forgot lmao TvT My ex got me into Cars again, and I tried searching for Cars fanfics and fanarts... That's when I found out that there's a fandom of our beloved sentient vehicles!

Tried interacting with the fandom on Twitter on the wrong time... There was a fandom drama happening and I instantly quit (⁠•⁠ ⁠▽⁠ ⁠•⁠;⁠) Went solo for a while until I discovered the fandom on Tumblr :D I hadn't created my Tumblr acc back then tho lmao

Then I started getting into Planes after reading a good Cars/Planes fic, fell in love with the F&R characters without knowing how they looked like (I had only watched the first movie back then), then hyperfixation started and I found out that the fandom was more active on Tumblr, so I made my own acc. It was on early July iirc? A few days before F&R's anniv?

So now I mainly rant and draw stuff of the Planes charas (and some of the Cars ones with my IG moots) plus some forbidden stuff but let's not talk about it here and interact with others in the fandom :3

3) Who is your favorite character and why?

All time favorite chara would be... Strip Weathers :)

Strip was what got me into Cars as a kid, tbh (⁠*⁠´⁠ω⁠｀⁠*⁠) He had fame and everything, yet he was so down-to-earth and wise... His interactions with Tex and Lynda fascinated my 3 y.o self. A man with that kind of fame, being lovey dovey with his wife? Real life told me that it was impossible, and Strip yeeted reality away from me. And when Strip gave his advices to Lightning? Acknowledging that he'd need a team to race? Implying that his team played a huge role in his success? Yeah, that impressed me. Started making friends instead of locking myself in a room to read books everyday after that.

For my current favorite, I'm torn between Dusty and Blade, tbh.

When I first watched the first Planes movie, Dusty was a mary sue chara for me... And discovering F&R's existence last July changed my impression of him.

My journey to get into art/design major was rough. I've been wanting to get into design since I was in the fifth grade, and my parents finally let me apply for it a few weeks before the national entrance test... Failed the first test because I caught fever after studying too long (yea we still needed to do the math etc), failed the second bc I had a mental breakdown in the middle of the test (not gonna talk abt this one), and finally made it into the third (received scholarship too so yay!)

Worked hard, studied hard, managed to get into a well-known 3D/VR studio... It was a dream come true, tbh. Started as a 3D texture artist, got more job as 3D artist, fell in love with the job...

Then there was a problem with one of the bigger projects, and they had to fire more than half of their workers and all of the interns...

So basically I lost my dream job. Not because I sucked at it, not because I failed my project, it was because an external factor I couldn't change no matter how hard I tried.

Then I discovered F&R and I sympathized with Dusty. He tried so hard and went through so much, and in he had to quit (not permanently, thankfully) all of the sudden, not because he lost a race, not because his techniques sucked. It was because his gearbox got broken and the factory had stopped producing it. It was beyond his control.

As I watched F&R for the first time, I instantly thought, "ah, he's just like me," and I adopted him 👍✨

Then Blade appeared. Strict boss. Reminds me of my dad so much to the point he's not in my all-time fav list lmao.

But he was the one who pushed Dusty back up. "If you give up today, think of all the lives you won't save tomorrow." Yeah, it's unrelated. They're out there saving lives and I'm scooped in my room, drawing with my phone for work and uni. Totally unrelated. But I just know that the last time someone started the domino chain of death in my life, it didn't end well. So I stayed.

Then Maru told Dusty about Nick, and what Blade did afterwards. I got impressed with how Blade managed to be strong enough to rise back up. He didn't let himself get completely drowned in sorrow for years. He actually did something.

I applied to another studio and got accepted. Unpaid, 24/7 work time. But I can work on stuff that makes people happy now. So Blade is currently both my reason to stay alive and a "he's me fr" chara lmao

1 and 2: I've been a fan of Cars since 2006, when I saw it in the theater. Only within the last year have I gone balls-to-the wall with hyperfixating posting WOC art online, writing fanfiction, and generally interacting with the fandom...so I guess I'm pretty new to the things, here. I'm not super active online because of my work schedule (I'm a groundskeepee for a local zoo), but I try the best I can with the time/energy I have at the end of the day.

3. Doc Hudson, hands-down. When I first saw the movie, I liked Doc...but thought he was being rude and unfair to Lightning. Fast forward a while to when I got my dream job, teaching college geology. After three years, I realized that the admins didn't give a shit about education and that they seemed to be doing everything in their power to shut down anything that myself, or other professors, tried to do for the student body. I quickly became disillusioned by the apathy and lack of support...and I had to resign because the stress was literally killing me. I know now that this is a common theme in higher ed...but all I wanted to do was teach. To see that flame of understanding kindled in the eyes of my students...

To lose that, was like having my soul pureed in a blender, and I...havent been able to teach since.

Every time I hear Doc's line "there was a lot left in me, and I never got the chance to show 'em"...I tear up. He's still reeling from an apathy that ended his career ..and I understand how hard that feeling can be to rebound from, how you can lock everything in a garage and hide behind a new personality... because your old life is too painful to think about.

I'm happy to see the ice powers coming back cuz after that one time he froze the Firefox I thought they just forgot about it lol

Also quick shoutout to Alan's Desktop organization He has come a long way

I find it funny how much everyone focused on this clip in the trailer especially, like "Oh no does Orange get mad at Alan again?? Is this related to Vic???" and the reality of it is "lol wanna fight me guys?" "Sure sounds fun :D" Alan you have bamboozled us again

I find this moment rather interesting So after Alan pulls up the thingy and sends them all flying then crashing down, Red appears to be acting like they hurt their head and Yellow notices and crawls over to see if they're ok (Awwwijascsdhljw) but as soon as they do Red just punches em?? However then Yellow puts their hands up in a way almost to be like "whoa whoa it's just me" and then Red accepts the comfort. Idk I just find it interesting, like Red is still in fight-mode after the sparring match and doesn't quite register that it's Yellow touching them at first XD

I love how Chosen really just pulls the "Throw the kid in the pool to teach them how to swim" on Orange and his powers here lol Then to Chosen's surprise it does not work "Aw shoot the kid is drowning now I gotta save them smh"

YEAHHHH ART POWERS Ok but actually though I find it interesting how differently the Pencil tool works outside a Desktop, like usually Orange like speed-draws the whole entire thing but out here it's like Ah yes, line scribble = E e l I mean it actually kinda makes sense, in the 3D world it'd be really difficult to draw anything really so the Pen just changes function a bit based on the environment

I find it interesting and I think Alan pointed out in the reaction video (really funny btw you should go watch that too) That Striker is totally just messing with them before that, like sure he probably has to be close to the target to use the Pause attack but I like to think he was enjoying the fight before that and is only just doing it now cuz he's bored lol

Aight so the Rocket Group is the one hunting Chosen I wanna know though- why Chosen specifically? Are they just after all Hollowheads with the powers or is it just Chosen they want? Maybe they're after all of them but Chosen is the only one with a super known presence? Also who are these guys?? They seem to be just some independent group but do they hold any sort of actual authority over Stick City? Man I have so many questions

How do you pause fire-? Does it still burn? I assume not cuz I think it woulda burned the guys bringing him by now Man that's wacky but cool Also another question here is like, is that white box a containment unit or some sort of display case? I'm thinking more along the lines of containment but like he's already paused and they left the door open I think??

Meddling Kids Redesigns

It took a while, but I finally finished all four designs of the main gang. There are still some tings I would change if I were to redesign them again, just by seeing all the other ones on tumblr.

I'll do some headcannons here, and maybe draw them again with plot ideas for a fictionalised series I would make with them.

Fist of all, they would start out as high schoolers, then go into univertity after. either way they would all be adults when the film starts

None of these guys are cishet or neurotypical sorry slays but you cant tell me otherwise

Thirdly, these guys are FRIENDS. they CARE about each other. some have been besties for years others were hard and fast ride or dies but they all really care for one another

They would initially start out unmasking people in monster costumes, but there would definitely be an overarching plot that is defiantly supernatural. by midway through season two, the monsters of the week would be real more often than not, and the gang has to turn to more spooky ways of dealing with them

Aight so

FRED

This man HAS to be nice, and reasonably stupid. He was a himbo Blueprint and we must make sure he stays that way

I want to make him into theatre tech and stuff, which he uses to debunk the monsters and point out all the techniques in the 80s horror movies he likes to watch with the gang.

I'd also say he was a prolific camper and scoutgoer as a child, and intends to work as a camp counsellor once he graduates for a little while

because of this hes pretty much a survival expert and gets pretty intense whenever they find themselves in the woods.

while he is strange himself he still is a leader for the group, and plans a lot of their moves on cases.

He and Daphne start the show dating and they are madly in love with each other, and are the bestest of friends. Fred is the more puttogether in the group though, and regularly has to stop daphne from comitting crimes like breaking and entering or simply trying to beat the monster over the head with a bat

DAPHNE

This version of Daphen would just be a pretty unhinged girlboss. she is the part of the gang who is just itching for a fight half the time, so shes been designated team muscle.

Her family is extremely rich, and while they don't really like her pastimes of going out and solving mysteries, but those funds are the thing keeping the gang going, and funding their trips, as well as bail when they get caught investigating some abandoned house or something.

She is really into fashion, specifically 70s style clothes, and spends a lot of time at home making her own clothes and things for others.

alongside that she is really into journalism, so much so that she practically runs the school newsletter when in high school, and runs it through her brilliant people skills. she intends to go to university to do a media and communications degree.

but shes also regularly unhinged and the fisrt one in the gang who would get into a brawl with a monster if given the chance. shes like a black belt in karate at least, and can definitely ride a motorbike.

I think she would encourage Fred's traps in their cases but if she was left alone she would just use a crowbar to solve her problems.

VELMA

This Velma is a todal dork. she is such a nerd its funny, bun in a way ehre the audience laughs with her. let her talk endlessly about her academic interests and cut back to everyone else dumbfounded.

Also my version of Velma isn't mean in any way. While she can be dry, witty or packed with smart comebacks, she is rarely intentionally cruel.

She doesn't believe in the supernatural at the beginning of the series, but she desperately wants to believe in everything. Cryptids, monsters, aliens etc (She was one of the kids that cried when they made Pluto not a planet anymore)

because of her eagerness to investigate she is practically uncarable, and more interested in anything spooky than she is frightful, which could be used for some good gags, especially since she never realises that she is ever out of her element

Velma brings out the nerdier side of all her friends too. she gets Fred talking about traps and survival skills, Daphne on about fashion and law, and Shaggy talking about food and films.

SHAGGY & SCOOB

Scooby doo is Shaggy's assistance dog, and that's how he is allowed to go wherever the gang does.

I've got some lore ideas about how he talks and stuff, which is basically the same as mystery inc plus some inspiration from the Magnus Archives but I'll probably talk about it another time.

I was thinking it might be funny if he talked kinda like puppycat from Bee and Puppycat, but that's just a thought, all I'm going to say is that's not a normal dog.

Shaggy also comes from a wealthier family but nowhere near as rich as Daphne. His parents really tried to shelter him as a kid after something happened in his childhood (IDK what but it was spooky) and ever since he's craved the independence that he gets with the gang

He has been friends with everyone the longest. I assume he went to a summer camp with Fred when they were little, met Velma at some kind of convention and lived close to Daphne.

He has tons of random skills and knowledge about pretty much anything. hes a trivia god and there could e a running gag that he went to a bunch of summer camps too, but for weird and niche things. he's also the kind to binge read wikipedia articles at 3am

I think we would be really into films, specifically horror and pulp films from the 70s - 90s. He probably has an interesting relationship with horror, scaring easily but still doing it for the thrill.

He also implores that in their mysteries, pointing out a bunch of the technical clues with Fred. He probably really likes mystery solving because it gives him that reassurance and control when they finally unmask them. I'm sure he starts to crack a little once they start going up against real monsters.

Aight so to start off with Mia wasn’t part of the connections or even looking to get into that specific kind of work when she first met Ethan. They were just two kids in college barely out of high school. They had the same friend group and everything, as average as average could get.

After college Mia ends up being scouted for their little group- probably something along the lines of how a MLM/pyramid scheme works where someone sought her out and twisted what their company was about so she’d join. Most likely making it seem like they were doing good so when she found out what they were truly doing it didn’t matter anymore to her.

The whole “trading company” thing is from them too. They’ve got an entire cover that all of documents and insurance is under and all that fancy stuff so Ethan never suspects it and they get married with Ethan being none the wiser.

Not that she wants to lie to him but she believes it’s for the greater good anyway. She can keep it a secret. She’s always been good at that.

And Ethan? Well, he knows something is off just doesn’t know what and doesn’t want to question it for fear of losing her. He’s so in love with her that he doesn’t really care. She isn’t cheating on him which is enough for him.

So when she dies he can’t help but think it’s his fault in a way. He blames himself. If he had just been closer to her and made her open up or confronted her about whatever it was she was hiding then maybe she wouldn’t have accepted the job abroad and maybe she wouldn’t have died trying to get home.

His life is damn near over when Mia is gone. Ethan is so heartbroken he loses his job because he doesn’t go in to work, staying at home and falling into a deep dark depression soon after losing her- she was his entire world.

He only stays like that for a few months at most. He’s got a friend in California who’s job is hiring and convinces Ethan to move out there. Other friends of his reminded him that Mia wouldn’t have wanted that sadness for him, that she’d want him to be happy- she loved him so much it would break her heart to see him in so much pain. It doesn’t really help much at the time but he does leave Texas and moves out to california.

He never stops looking for her though. Once Ethan gets settled in at his new place and new job- he keeps an eye on missing persons articles and anything that could be Mia. Her body was never recovered so surely she’s still out there somewhere. He spends a lot of time obsessing over it, he’s incredibly stubborn.

He’s just about given up on it when he gets her Email.

Mia on the flip side spends those three years at the Bakers fighting for her damned sanity. It’s the memory of Ethan and her love for him that will often bring her back to reality when Eveline has gotten her claws in her.

She spends ages avoiding the Bakers and learning the estate like the back of her hand just trying to get out, to get back to Ethan.

And that persistent thought of him is what draws Evie to Ethan in the first place. She wants Mia to be her mommy so badly and for Mia to be happy with her but she knows Mia won’t be happy until she has Ethan back.

After Dulvey they’re horribly dysfunctional.

Mia is damned near manic and she’s incredibly paranoid.

Ethan doesn’t feel the same and he chalks it up to trauma often (and I also headcanon Ethan as autistic which he doesn’t know he is- he’s known he’s different since he was a kid but it seems to come and go. And with the presence of the mutamycete in his system he’s all over the place poor guy). He still can’t fathom how all of what happened… happened. He tries so hard not to look at all his scars because it makes it even harder to grasp.

They’re both snippy and get into fights, enough they’ve had the cops called on them. But they can’t bear to be apart, it only makes it worse. It’s this awful flip of going from being the perfect couple to no longer working. And it’s hard for them with how much they had loved each other before hand to just all of a sudden not work out?

The only reason they even stay together as long as they do is because they still love each other but what happened, Mia’s lies, the horrors that are so very real in the world, it all makes it hard.

It’s only when Mia ends up pregnant that things are kinda put into perspective for them. That’s when they move out to Romania. They want to get as far way as possible. Running away had worked for Ethan so maybe it could work for them too. They could have a life far away from all the bad and terror that they’ve faced. Rose was like a new leaf for them.

They’re new identities were in being parents. They threw all of themselves into it. Whereas before they found themselves in each other they now found it in their daughter.

And they still didn’t communicate well which is why when Mia started acting strange those few days before the village incident Ethan didn’t say a damn thing. He gives her space, maybe too much, maybe he should have asked more questions.

Also one of my top songs for them- especially for the beginning of 7 is Wait for Me from HadesTown. Like that’s so them. And then for the part between 7 and 8 I like to listen to My Fault by Imagine Dragons n sob thinking about their dysfunction. And we can’t forget Run to You by CJ Starnes.
