Harellan wouldn't have said he was avoiding Viktor. On the contrary, he really would've preferred to see the nephilim more than he cared to admit. That wasn't an option though. Ayi'ig was...he didn't like to think about it because it made him feel like some sort of weak individual like those halfbloods. Well, all of them except for Viktor at least. That wasn't even the point though. The point was that he wasn't sure what he was supposed to do now. Was he supposed to just pretend everything was fine? That was what he was good at when it came to everything else so he was fine with doing it here. Nobody would truly know how he felt about the loss of the drow queen. That would be information he kept to himself. And that information was that he was devastated. He hadn't cried. He'd done enough of that with his father. He'd razed an entire village just to watch them suffer. At some point, he had to question if it had been for vengeance or not. Again, that wasn't the point. What had he done to cope? Well, he'd gotten a cat.

The cat was sat on his lap, sat on the floor in front of the other's door, as he waited for the nephilim to show up. He would eventually. There would be some rightful anger, but who could deny a cute cat? He'd have said the other didn't have a choice in the matter, but he didn't feel like playing around in Viktor's head unless the nephilim wanted him to. A hand dropped to the black cat's head just as he heard footsteps coming towards him. When he looked up, he was only slightly happy about the sight before him. "Hey, angel."

jayce enduring a symbolic rendition of viktor's trauma is so painful and so, so clever.

being stricken down and immobilized through sheer accident or, in viktor's case, a cruelly random quirk that caused his disability.

then physically dragging himself from the lowest level of zaun to piltover, much like how viktor spent his youth reaching toward the promise piltover offered, but only if he could "pull himself up by the boot straps" and get there on his own. socioeconomic forces working against him be damned.

i appreciate arcane reminding us of viktor's origins - the reason he is so called to help people and, eventually, save himself - and putting jayce through the ringer - the contrast between he and viktor's lived experiences is front and center throughout season 1. the writers send jayce, and the audience, on a grueling journey to contemplate those experiences and how they've manifested in these intertwined characters.

Useful wasn't even a strong enough word to describe Viktor. The hollowborn would probably need to thank him better later for his assistance in getting him one of these uniforms. Until then though? He was more than content with bothering the other until he grew bored or was needed elsewhere. Perhaps he'd head back to see what the drow were up. Ayi'ig had plans and she was sure to see it come to fruition no matter what it took. Harellan was more than excitedd to see how everything played out. He'd done his part and now he could just...well, sit around and do absolutely fucking nothing. A hand crawled through the hair at the back of Viktor's head as they sat in this little medical area that contained far too many woodland creatures for his liking. "I saw someone severed at the waist from the rot out there. Wonder what would've happened if they turned."

Some more jayvik Pacific Rim au since everyone asked so nicely!! Jayce is making sure Vik grows big and strong by stealing all the protein from the mess hall.

The lore behind Vik's short hair is that he crashed out around 3am, unable to solve a mathematical theorem, and forced Jayce to cut all his hair off with craft scissors in the dark. [nods nods]
