TW: Self Harm and Suicide

Imagine the 118 getting a call to a house for a suicide attempt. It's a teenager, maybe 13. She's hurt herself badly, maybe she hadn't meant for it to be as bad as it was. But her parents are not happy. And not in the sense that they're worried because their daughter just potentially tried to kill herself, but they're actually upset with her.

And they start saying about how she's been hurting herself lately, but it's just for attention. (You know, that horrible thing some people say about SH...) That she's not actually got any problems, she just wants attention.

And they're all pretty pissed at the parents, but they're trying to be professional, because they have to be.

But Buck just snaps. He was a kid who was hurting himself to get his parents attention. And it was awful for him. It severely damaged his psyche. To this day he still struggles to deal with people not giving him the right attention. So he knows how this kid must feel.

And so maybe he snaps at the parents, or maybe he just totally shuts down.

Either way, the rest of the 118 pick up on it. And it suddenly hits them what he was telling them all those years ago when he was telling them about his parents. It really hits them all that he was purposely hurting himself as a kid.

"Well that's an unusual name to hear out of the blue. Do you mind if I inquire about why you got curious all of a sudden? The Aegypius was even before my time here, after all.

Either way, I do know a thing or two.

I know he is a bounty hunter. Or rather, he was one. He's been gone for sweeps. The two main theories are that he either retired to some distant planet where the fleet can't call upon him anymore, or that he died unceremoniously somewhere out in the harsh Alternian wilderness. I can't definitively say one or the other is correct, but I do get the feeling that a man with a reputation like his own doesn't die easily.

I know he wasn't fleet, even if he was heavily associated with them due to them making frequent use of his services. I also know that he was reported to be as terrifying as the grim reaper himself, and had a similar silhouette to the cloaked myth, scythe and all. It's also fairly well-known that he got his title from the peculiar way he would pick the bones out of his victims and bag them for undisclosed reasons, whistling a haunting dirge the entire time.

And fun fact, apparently, he was sometimes used as a way to keep children out of trouble, saying that if they did something bad, they'd end up one of his marks, haha."

Hello! Love seeing someone else posting episode reactions! It’s been a while since I watched Masquerade (02x03) so I’m hoping some other folks weigh in here (pspspsps POI mutuals) but I think John pulls Sophia out of a dangerous situation and takes her somewhere safe and then makes her a comfort food dish that she used to eat as a kid.

Can anyone help be more specific than that?
