Tumblr media
Right from the start, Deltarune has established itself as a “Game Where Choices Don’t Matter”. Only having one ending has been core to its narrative and theming since day one. But it’s important to remember that it’s a concept that Deltarune has explored through several different ways, with two broad ‘main’ angles.
First there is the obvious way. That “Your Choices Don’t Matter” feels restrictive, oppressive, foreboding. The railroading that makes everything ‘safe’ in a way that feels just slightly insincere, the idea that making a real change in this world is impossible, the Darkners doomed to their Purpose to 'serve' the Lightners, the Prophecy that cannot be changed.
Tumblr media
It's about the feeling of powerlessness, a lack of control. It's kinda creepy even when you're forced into a 'good ending' (like the Card Castle Darkners joining Castle Town even if you've been nothing but an absolute menace to them), but especially so if you're marching towards some inevitable and terrible fate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But on the other hand of that spectrum, there is the matter of Player Agency versus Character Agency. Sometimes in Deltarune, your Choices Don't Matter not because the Choice was taken away from you by some Great Unseen Force - but because you, the Player, are the Great Unseen Force and the characters are asserting their Agency against you.
Tumblr media
The general point here is that the Player's Choice often stands at odds with the narrative agency of the characters. Ralsei is the most accommodating member of the main cast and the one most likely to ask Kris (or rather the Player) what to do, and… he's also unhealthily selfless doormat who literally does not believe he's allowed to have opinions of his own and is the most fatalistic about the Prophecy. The biggest example of actual Player Choice in the game so far is the Weird Route, which requires tearing away the agency of both Noelle and Kris until they are tools for the Player.
Kris themself is also a factor in this. Being Literally Possessed means that they're really the perfect example of lacking in freedom and lacking in choices… And when they are asserting their own Agency, it's usually by taking away a 'Choice' from the Player. They often try and rebel, resist or wise-ass their way out of doing or saying something that they don't truly want to say or do.
And their most important moments are, of course, the ones they do of their own will.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is all 'railroading' from an out-of-universe perspective because it is just the Game stopping you from doing things that will cause the narrative of the story to diverge too much, but within the fiction that the game created, it is a bold act of free will.
The characters' relationships and arcs are 'set on a path' and unchanging because they are dependent on the characters' personalities and experiences and their choices, and there's very little the Player can do to override that. Like, being discouraging towards Ralsei's character arc in Chapter 4 is a huge dick move on the part of the Player, but I doubt it will actually stop him from his path to growth. Because with Susie's support (and Kris' attempt to also support him despite our Choices)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
his development is not in our hands.
Basically the one time the Player can meaningfully affect another character's arc and relationship… is Noelle in the Weird Route. And again, this is portrayed as a very dark act of manipulation that robs her and Kris of their genuine choices and will.
Tumblr media
And nowhere is this concept more clear than with Susie. The most rebellious character in the entire cast, the one most likely to chafe against the railroady nature of the world and the inevitability of the Prophecy and also against the Player. A lot of the plot in this game has been the same, regardless of our choices, regardless of the Weird Route… because Susie's will and choices has been such an overwhelming leading force in the narrative, that the Player can do very little to change it.
Tumblr media
We know Deltarune only has one ending, but I don't think that means we are doomed to get whatever terrible fate has been promised in the Prophecy. I think maybe there's only one ending because there's hardly any Choice a Player can make that will slow down Susie's unbreakable, unwavering, unchangeable fate-defying spirit, we will not be able to Choose to hinder her sheer Determination to break the Prophecy and give herself and all of her friends a happy ending. Susie herself is the real inevitability in Deltarune.
Tumblr media
At least, that's the best we can hope for.

so, Materialists
cw: movie spoilers, personal opinion, mention of sexual assault in fiction
i am not great at expressing all of my thoughts on paper, that's why i would be a shitty movie reviewer so this is all a bit jumbled and hectic, but i just wanted to get it out i guess
first of all, i am honestly surprised Celine Song made that movie. maybe the problem was that my expectations were too high after seeing 'past lives', or maybe because to me the promo-tour was a bit misleading. this movie lacks depth and progressiveness is tried to claim.
what i didn't like: the movie was painfully predictable from the first trailer but i nurtured a hope in my heart that Celine would surprise us, she looks like a very layered woman with unique voice that she lost during this film. this movie tried to be critical of modern dating and putting "a price" on something so unexplainable and etheral as love but it did it poorly. this is not the "broke man propoganda" that i first thought it'd be, no, it's a toxic man and low self steem propoganda. there's no great love story to see between Lucy and John, there's zero character growth. there's zero reason as to why she'd come back to him except for her painfully low self esteem that we witness during her moment with Harry at the restaurant.
the whole 'hight' ordeal and the forced stereotype of 'he could be the best guy in the world but if he's not 6ft no woman would date him', to me that was lame and honestly lowkey myisogynistic and lazy, it didn't do anything just annoyed me. the argument that "oh she came back to john bc she didn't love harry" pisses me the fuck off because SHE KNEW JOHN FOR TWENTY YEARS AND SHE KNEW HARRY FOR TWO WEEKS! she didn't even give love a chance to develop. love is not something that happens at the snap of your fingers if you're not a hormonal teenager and even then it's just lust. in my opinion she ends up with John because of her low self worth and their similar background with John, she could never "afford" a man like Harry, he's complex and she needed someone simple and...easy. at the end it just felt like he didn't choose John, she settled for him with hopes that maybe this time it'll be better (spoiler alert it won't). Lucy and Harry had a perfect ground to build respectable, kind, gentle and nurturing relationship that would undoubtedly turn into love but the writers decided to be ??? i dunno, lame.
the way they "closed" harry's storyline was so poorly written like he wasn't one of the main characters, he just kinda disappeared. no idea what was supposed to be groundbreaking and fresh about this movie. maybe they thought they were bending the genre by including a side character who is a SA victim and trying to make the movie "more serious than any other romcom" by showcasing her trauma without giving a proper warning to the audience. (before you @ me that it was not supposed to be a romcom check IMDB and look at genres. check any other movie site and look at genres, NOWHERE DOES IT SAY DRAMA)
Tumblr media
what i liked: it's a "safe" movie, nothing will surprise you which can be both good and bad. the performances were great, Pedro, Dakota and even Chris Evans gave it their all, minor characters were also fantastic. the cinematography and soundtrack was beautiful. some of the dialogues stuck with me. also loved that Celine didn't shy away from trying to show the differences in physical intimacy for both "couples" to highlight the difference of Lucy's involvment in two relationships from the start. also Pedro's back in the shower.
overall it's a movie i wouldn't intentionally watch again, but if it came up on TV or if i had it available on a flight i wouldn't mind drifting off to it. like my bf said: it's like bringing the best ingredients to the world renowned chef and they serve you the blandest burger the world has ever seen. will you still eat it? yes, because it's food and it's fresh. but do you wish they at least used some fucking salt and pepper? also yes.
+ some of the comments from all the other reviews i've seen that made me laugh more than the movie ever did

Okay, you know that scene in Catwoman v.1 where Selina begs Maggie to scream, cry, lash out, & curse her rather than turn to a darker version of herself?
I need you to understand that, if it were written with any sense of integrity, that would be the attitude Bruce has towards Jason post-resurrection. At least after becoming privy to the fact that Jason does not personally blame Bruce for his death.
In my opinion, Bruce would sell his arm for a penny on a streetcorner providing it gave Jason non-homicidal means of coping, for Jason to view him as responsible, as a second murderer. For him to curse "hereoism", & vigilantes, & the whole fucking lifestyle- decry it as an unbelievable farce & leave it all behind to go back to being Jason Todd of Crime Alley, who only did what he had to do to survive. Bruce would be so far beyond willing to carry that weight if it meant his boy would be off the track of his homicidally self-destructive rampage. If it meant Jason realizing he is more than just a revenant, that he is alive, that he can have a life.
The only way it makes any sense to me is if Bruce would accept, even embrace a world in which Jason views him as a horrible dad, an irredeemable piece of shit who is directly responsible for his murder, if it just meant that Jason did not have to utterly sacrafice his sense of humanity & compassion to make it through the world. He'd give near anything for it or it makes no sense. That's his son. His son who was dead but is now alive, for all he does not seem to grasp that himself.
Also he should have let Jason pop the clown. Not even for ethical reasons, but in the chase of giving Jason a chance at the realization in the world they do live in where Jason will not allow himself to view Bruce that way. Because he refuses to harm his son, or let him be taken in another explosion. Not when he just got him back, not when his son has not even gotten the chance to truly come back to life.
(I also think it would be a far more interesting jumping-off point post-utrh for Jason, but that's somewhat besides the point.)

you are one in an unlimited supply of hateful mid-30s tumblr users suffering from main character syndrome and making everyone else around you pay for it. maybe you should grow up and stop being so shallow and youd be less unhappy with your clearly lacking life :)
Better a main character syndrome than Pretend Omniscient Narrator Syndrome where you just blatantly make up your own narrative about people online you don't like. I'll keep being a main character of my own life though and do what I wanna do, you let me know how your fictional play about how 30 year old women are too old to enjoy the Internet works out when you too are forced to recon with your own age and mortality. 😬

Yandere bully x f. reader
Tumblr media
{He’s not a bully towards reader.}
Yandere bully who is the terror at school. No one want to be close to him in fear of being his next target. People are afraid of even looking at him, thinking it will trigger his bully-instincts. No one wants their head shoved down the toilet, their books thrown in the fountain or getting shaken down for cash.
Yandere bully who is, despite your reluctance, you friend. The two of you are neighbours and childhood friends. You often sigh whenever he will go on about his latest victim and the ‘funny’ expressions they made when scared. He truly thinks it was hilarious. You truly don’t know how he got this bad.
Yandere bully who targets anyone who’ll talk to you for more than five minutes. Who are they and why do they think they have any right to be near you? It seems he’ll simply have to teach them a lesson or two.
Yandere bully who smirks in sadistic delight as his victim crawls on the ground like the worm they are. Don’t they know that worthless insects shouldn’t go masquerading as something else in order to get close to a butterfly? Their pleas for forgiveness fall on deaf ears. They shouldn’t have talked to you but they did it anyway. It’s their own fault. The entire school knows you belong to Yan. Bully and to stay away of face the consequences. Just follow the rules and you’ll be fine and dandy!
Yandere bully who is a completely different person with you. There are no traces of the cruel, sadistic bully whenever he’s in your presence. Although, he can still be a bit cranky and leave a mean comment to anyone he deems deserves it.
Yandere bully who treats you like a real princess- his princess to be more exact! He buys you gifts like stuffed animals, puts the small candies he knows you adore on your desk and writes you cute notes with a bunch of compliments on them. If others had knowledge of the extent he’d go for you they all be shocked. Does this vicious bully really have enough human in him to care for someone else? Seems unlikely. He’s a total monster in others eyes. He’s nothing more than a rude, condescending, sadistic freak who would love nothing more than to torment you- that’s who he is to everyone but you.
Yandere bully who you know you should break of contact with. Though you’ve never seen it(which is a conscious decision on his part), you’ve heard of the things he does to other people. He has never done anything bad to you but he doesn’t really hide his hideous deeds either. It’s a struggle. Especially since your families are close as well. They’d never believe you if you told them the stuff he’s up to. The same as you, he also plays ‘sweet angel’ with your families. They simply believe he’s nothing more then a (slightly) overprotective friend who’s hopelessly in love with you (yes, they all know about his feelings towards you, he’s told them in hope of getting support from both sides and it worked).
Yandere bully who you can never get rid of. He’ll be around every corner waiting for you. Even your families think it’s a fantastic idea for the two of you t be together. It would be such a sweet story; two childhood best friends who, throughout their growth, develop strong feelings for each other! It’s often that someone asks whether the two of you are dating yet, to which you sigh and he lets out a warm chuckle, saying ‘hopefully soon.’
Yandere bully who is not above threatening others’ lives if you refuse him. He’ll use these disgusting filths as leverage and make their lives hell (as if he wasn’t doing that already) unless you date him- specially with marriage as the end goal. By the end of the day, people would be begging on their knees for you to just love him back already. If you just dated him then they wouldn’t be in so much pain.
Please, don’t force him to him hurt others.

Part of fortune in natal chart 💫
Tumblr media
❤️ FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY , ENJOY ❤️
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
💖 MASTERLIST
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
♥️ POF in 1st house/Aries :
- Part of Fortune in the 1st House can give you a subtle magnetism that draws opportunities to you, sometimes without conscious effort. Your energy, charisma, or physical presence can create circumstances where good things simply fall into your lap as you move through the world. This can apply to both personal and professional opportunities, and it's more about the vibe you project than any specific action you take.Since the 1st House deals with your physical presence and the way you move through the world, luck can come to you in bursts, often out of nowhere. These shifts might not always come gradually but could be more of a life-changing event type of energy, bringing sudden success or visibility. Also, you could find that your natural flair for speaking, teaching, or entertaining brings both pleasure and rewards. This can include attracting positive attention or gaining recognition without trying too hard. While the Part of Fortune in the 1st House brings charisma and opportunities, it can sometimes inflate the ego or create a false sense of invincibility. You may feel that things will always work out, or that your charm and presence will be enough to win you over in all situations. This overconfidence can lead to overestimating your abilities or neglecting other important factors in decision-making, which could cause setbacks if not kept in check. With the Part of Fortune here, you may find that major periods of personal transformation, like a change in your appearance, identity, or outlook on life bring sudden bursts of good luck or fortune. This could be moving to a new location, changing careers, or embracing a completely different lifestyle, and each reinvention could feel like a fresh start filled with new possibilities.
♥️ POF in 2nd house/ Taurus :
-The 2nd House governs financial matters, but with the Part of Fortune here, luck may come through developing self-sufficiency rather than relying on others. your most prosperous times happen when you are working independently or generating your own income, often through practical, steady methods. Resource management and the ability to make the most of what you have can bring you good fortune. While others may struggle with managing finances or accumulating wealth, you might find that you have a natural talent for budgeting, saving, or making the most out of limited resources.you may gain financial stability through physical possessions like real estate or art, or by developing a marketable skill or craft that holds value. The more you invest in your personal abilities, the more you are likely to be rewarded. The Part of Fortune here can sometimes bring unexpected financial gains, especially when you least expect them. These might not always come in the form of a large sum of money, but rather as opportunities that lead to long-term wealth or growth. You might receive a bonus, a inheritance, or even gifts that unexpectedly improve your financial situation.People with this placement often experience good fortune when they detach their self-worth from material possessions and learn that true value lies within. You may experience setbacks or delays if you focus too much on material accumulation, and fortune tends to favor those who find balance between their inner and outer worlds.
♥️ POF in 3rd house/ Gemini :
-The 3rd House is all about how you express your thoughts and ideas, and with the Part of Fortune here, you may find that verbal expression or the ability to communicate effectively can bring you good fortune. Whether its through writing, speaking, or teaching, the way you convey your ideas is a direct channel to success. Your words may have an impact on those around you which automatically opens doors and creates opportunities that wouldn’t otherwise arise. You may also be lucky in how easily you grasp new concepts and ideas.you attract opportunities when you step out of your usual environment, whether it’s business travel, a spontaneous trip, or even frequent travel within your local area. Even seemingly insignificant movements can bring important insights or new connections that impact your life positively.your fortune is strongly tied to your ability to tell stories or express yourself through the written word. Whether you’re a blogger, author, journalist, or someone who enjoys personal journaling, there may be luck and success tied to the act of sharing your thoughts and ideas with others.Try tosatisfy your intellectual curiosity and pursue a range of topics or subjects that spark your interest. This can lead you to uncover new opportunities in unexpected places.Teaching or sharing your knowledge is another area where you may find luck. Whether it’s formal education, mentoring, or casual instruction, you might experience good fortune when you help others learn.
♥️ POF in 4th house/cancer :
-People with this placement often find that their greatest source of luck comes from a nurturing home environment. This doesn’t necessarily mean you must come from an affluent background, but rather that having a safe, supportive, and stable home provides a foundation for all other areas of your life to flourish. If you have a strong emotional connection to your home, fortune may flow more freely into your life when you prioritize the comfort and harmony of your living space.Luck could come through inheritances, family business, or ancestral traditions that offer unexpected opportunities or stability. Even if your family doesn’t have monetary wealth, there may be wisdom, support, or connections that you inherit and that bring good fortune. Understanding and honoring your ancestral legacy can help unlock deeper layers of fortune.People with this placement might find that owning or working with property brings good fortune, especially if it’s connected to their roots. Whether it’s investing in property, owning a family home, or returning to your roots (a hometown or country), there’s a potential for prosperity through real estate or land that is deeply connected to your personal history.you may find luck in more introverted, quiet, or private pursuits. Activities that occur behind the scenes, away from the public eye, can bring the greatest rewards. This could involve working from home, engaging in introspection, writing, or pursuing hobbies that allow you to nurture your soul and emotional life. Part of Fortune here might find success or luck in careers or activities related to emotional healing, psychotherapy, or working with others to resolve family trauma or emotional wounds. You might experience challenges or karmic patterns related to family dynamics, but working through these lessons, whether it's about independence, healing, or family unity ,will ultimately bring you greater prosperity.

Alternatively, if you're not a parent, your involvement with children, such as through teaching, mentoring, or charitable work, could be a source of good fortune and personal growth.good fortune can come when you are free to express yourself authentically and creatively, without restraint or inhibition. The more you align with your true self, whether through your personal style, artistic endeavors, or hobbies, the more likely you are to encounter opportunities. Good luck.
♥️ POF in 6th house/Virgo :

Energy work, herbalism, and even mental health counseling may offer paths to both personal fulfillment and external success.you may find that you create opportunities for yourself when you focus on making other people’s lives better. You might have a natural gift for communicating ideas that can reach a wide audience, and when you express what you know, it brings rewards and recognition.meditation, spiritual practices, or even just exploring new philosophical ideas can open doors for you. You might notice that the more you connect to something bigger than yourself whether it’s through a spiritual practice, philosophy, or worldview the more your life feels blessed or abundant.
♥️ POF in 10th house/Capricorn:
-If your Part of Fortune is in the 10th house, it’s likely that your good fortune will come when you connect with important people or influential figures in your career or public life. Networking, socializing, or even forming partnerships with powerful or high-profile individuals might bring unexpected opportunities your way. The more you engage with the public sphere, the more you will find avenues that lead to good fortune.people with the Part of Fortune in this house often find that their success and fortune grow steadily over time. This isn’t a quick-win placement, it’s about building a solid foundation and working toward something that will pay off in the long run. You could find that your fortune comes through slow, consistent progress in your career or long-term projects that eventually bring significant rewards. The 10th house can also relate to the idea of becoming a master or innovator in your field. The Part of Fortune here suggests that you could find good luck by pushing the boundaries and creating something new or unique in your career. Whether you’re inventing something, leading a groundbreaking project, or simply honing your skills until you become the best in your profession, your fortune may come when you break new ground or achieve mastery in your area of expertise.for some people, the Part of Fortune in this house may suggest that they inherit their fortune, success, or opportunities through family connections or ancestral ties(10th house also relates to your father). This might not be as obvious, but you could find that your family’s history, social standing, or connections play a significant role in the opportunities that come your way. While building a good reputation is important, if you’re too concerned with your public persona, it could take away from the authentic pursuit of your goals. Don’t let your ambition for success or recognition cause you to neglect the inner work needed for real achievement. All the best.

-The 11th house is all about community, but it's not just any community,it’s about being part of a group that has a shared vision or goal. Your recognition may not always be immediate, but over time, it brings rewards and fulfillment.People with the Part of Fortune in the 11th house often find that their luck comes from friendships with people who are different, who might be unconventional, progressive, or ahead of their time. These friendships bring growth, ideas, and opportunities that wouldn’t have come through other relationships. You may find that the people you meet along your journey, especially those who have unique or innovative perspectives, play a big role in bringing good fortune into your life. But,You might sometimes be so focused on the bigger picture that you lose sight of practical steps or details. It’s important to balance your dreams with action and grounded decision-making to ensure your fortune comes in a sustainable way.
♥️ POF in 12th house/Pisces:
-The 12th house is the house of hidden emotions, fears, and sometimes even past life karma. With the Part of Fortune here, you may find that your luck increases as you work through deep emotional wounds or subconscious patterns.Sometimes your biggest breakthroughs come from dealing with what is hidden beneath the surface.People with the Part of Fortune in the 12th house often have an affinity for the unseen or intangible. Whether it’s working with things like intuition, dreams, or art, your fortune tends to come when you engage with things that can’t be touched or easily explained. You might find success in creative pursuits, in fields like psychology or spiritual counseling, or in any profession where you’re working with ideas or energies that are not immediately obvious to the outside world. You may find that you thrive when you work behind the scenes or in more isolated roles. With the Part of Fortune here, one key to unlocking your good fortune is to confront and release self-sabotaging patterns or beliefs that may be deeply ingrained in your subconscious. This could be a process of undoing limiting beliefs from your past, or even past-life karmic patterns that might be influencing your current life. Once you confront these hidden blocks, you open the door to greater prosperity. The 12th house is about retreat, but it’s important to remember that you also need connections to the outside world. Spending too much time in isolation can lead to feelings of loneliness or disconnection, which might block the flow of your good fortune. Balancing time alone with meaningful social interactions is key to making the most of this placement.

These are a couple doodles from yesterday, Gideon as a younger teen, before the growth spurt, maybe 14? He's discovered he's a vampire, and has a lot of recovery to do, since he's severely blood deficient.
I'm gonna let myself explode about my vampire gideon ideas, under construction, under the cut: (I don't write fanfiction, I just throw up my ideas on a tumblr post, apparently :'D)
This is what I love about tumblr - it's a place where I can throw the doodles (something that isn't finished *artwork*), and let myself be really delusional about fictional characters. So I'm gonna take a moment to ramble about the ideas I have for Gideon as a vampire.
If you're a fellow Gideon Head, HI THERE... anyway, here's my thought process on a potential vampire-gideon backstory???
I've always liked the idea of gideon being a vampire, and also becoming a much better person when he's older. And that got me thinking, maybe those two things are linked. Maybe the vampire thing is somehow tied into his reformation.
But I tend to lean towards building my ideas off canon (as opposed to making an AU). And if gideon was a vampire, and knew this during the events of the show, it would have come to light at some point. So, either he doesn't know he's a vampire, or he becomes one later. Becoming one later works narratively, but he's already so vampiric, with the white hair, pale skin, sunscreen, evil, etc. So I'm like, let's go with that.
So, gideon has gone his whole life without knowing he's a vampire, and without drinking blood. I'm thinking that being a vampire in this case (my gravity falls fan version of what a vampire would be) wouldn't adhere to typical vampire conventions. You don't NEED to drink blood to survive.
Here's the idea I got yesterday: after the events of weirdmageddon, gideons experience motivated him to become a better person. It was the awakening, basically. But in the subsequent years, he's still a little shit. Maybe he's in juvenile detention, or prison again. But now, he has the self awareness to know that what he's doing is wrong. This is where my ideas get a little fuzzy, so bear with me. Bud has his suspicions, and as a last resort, puts gideon on some sort of mission trip type of cross country trip, when he's in his teens. And along the way, maybe at the end, there's this secret group of vampires that open gideons eyes to what he really is.
Basically??? Without blood, gideon is very evil. He's an evil little shit. This may not be how it is for every vampire. Maybe some grow very sickly without blood, just get hungry, etc. The effects of blood deficiency vary from vampire to vampire. But Gideon becomes very unhinged. And he'd essentially been Blood Hangry for his whole life. That being said, some of it was just his personality that he needed to work through, but drinking some blood helped a LOT. Blood isn't food for him, it's more like his medication.
Once he has that discovery, he spends a long while, I'm thinking maybe even a year, just recovering from the deficiency. He's almost always drinking blood to keep up his levels, and he's very rarely seen in public to keep the vampire thing a secret. That's what these drawings were supposed to be, him in his pseudo bedridden state. This period in his life would be one big blur; mostly spent binge watching soap operas and being all cozy. In contrast to his usual suit + tie, he's dressing for max comfort: sweatpants, sweatshirt, a knit hat over his ridiculously big hair, and always wrapped in a blanket. Not sure if somehow he feels cold when drinking blood?? But for some reason, I feel like he'd always be wearing like 10 layers and laying under a heated blanket or something.
Eventually, he'd only need to drink blood about once a month for maintenance.
Character development wise - even as an adult, Gideon isn't sure if he's truly a good person. Is the blood deficient version of himself the true gideon? Or is this well adjusted man who he truly is? And there's an issue of the chicken and the egg, too. Gideon was born a vampire. Did these genes activate because he was predisposed to being evil? Or did the vampire thing happen by coincidence? Does being a vampire make him evil, or is it the other way around? He doesn't know, and he never will.
The one thing I'm not sure I like about this idea: i'm worried that I'd be writing off his villainous personality as an illness that can be cured with a thing. Obviously, it would be better if he faced that head on, and figured out how to be better. So I'm still grappling with that. But for now, this is an idea I'm entertaining. Of course, I think it would be interesting if there was a plot point where his usual source of ethically sourced human blood was compromised for a time, and he had to grapple with his personality going topsy turvy.
It's actually embarrassing how much I just wrote???? If you've made it this far, wow, I applaud you. I guess this was just my idea of having a good sunday night, writing down my silly thoughts on gideon gosh darn gleeful. Let me know your thoughts too!!!! I'd love to know if you have any ideas, or questions, or ways to strengthen this potential backstory.

honestly, i love it when people REALLY get bakugou. and i mean REALLY REALLY understand him. Bakugou was NEVER evil but instead had the largest inferiority complex i have ever seen, he had a genuine fear of failing or disappointing others which made him act with that cocky and egotistical mask. i also like to think that this is the reason why Izuku never hated him
like in that one quote "the idea of victory was so tied to the image of you in my head", it is undeniable that Bakugou is a victorious person who always wants to win, but that is also his biggest downfall. Bakugou wants to be the best but how can you be the best while treating others poorly?
His growth in the anime and manga is seriously one of my favorite character development arcs i have ever seen.

Astro notes ~ part 3
Aquarius Sun: can be surprisingly self-sacrificing. They are private people who let only very few select people close. The evolved version of this placement is very sweet if a little clumsy and devoted, sometimes to the wrong people.
Libra Sun: much like Leo Sun, could be quite vain, perhaps not in as pronounced of a manner, but for sure there is a sense of entitlement, at least on the intellectual front. Indecisive in love and probably keep their options open for some time.
Aries Moons: could be quite shy and indecisive. They could be bottling up their emotions and then explode, depending on other placements.
Especially the woman may feel the need to temper her own intensity/reactions if she feels it’s not received well. Or she may simply not have had the chance to openly discuss what she really feels. Either way, the intensity is there and they can’t hide what they feel forever. From what I’ve noticed, these natives definitely have a mind of their own and are quite independent.
Virgo Mercuries: you’re very good at explaining things aren’t you? People may look for you if they need guidance as you are very patient and methodical and definitely like learning things more in depth. You explain things in a manner everybody understands.
However, it may be difficult for you to express what you really feel or you don’t want to seem vulnerable. It’s okay to be less cerebral and precise and let go once in a while. Allow yourself some drama/chaos. Very few things in life are as we’d imagine them. Don’t close yourself off. There might be people wishing to be there for you but you don’t let them.
Pisces Mars: do you realise your laid-back, “always-go-with-the-flow” attitude pisses others off? Many time they might not know where to place you. You might be super hard-working and still people may judge you for seemingly not doing enough. You are creative and spiritual which attracts others but at the same time your passive-aggressiveness, or victim mentality are off-putting. Conflict is necessary at times. It helps us learn from our own mistakes and those of others and facilitates our growth. Don’t avoid it. Also, don’t seek the most roundabout way to get what you want. Sometimes asking for it is enough.
Aquarius Mercury: there is a real possibility of speech difficulties being present. The native has many ideas but finds it difficult to put them into words. There is a “fizzy” quality to the way they speak. They can get super passionate about certain topics and amaze others with the knowledge they accumulate, the theories they develop or conclusions they reach.
Favours facts, reason and logic in their communication over emotional expression. They may be huge nerds, give off mad scientist vibes or be the loners always lost in their thoughts.
Many personal planets in 2nd house: your property is your little baby, yes? With this placement there is a real possibility of falling into greed. You certainly want to make money and have one or multiple nice properties to go home to. A lot more than other people do. You are a hard worker and provider for your family.
Depending on other placements, giving and/or receiving gifts could be your love language. You love having your own money (lots of it!) and spending it to your heart’s content. You could totally be into business and make a successful entrepreneur. Be careful though: never let your goal of making money overshadow everything else in your life. Personal relationships: love, family, friendships are very important. Stop putting them at the very end of your priorities list.
Many personal planets in 10th house (especially Sun, Mercury, Mars): you are the definition of a hard-worker. You love doing things right, if possible excellently. Praise and gratitude in your profesional life please you like few other things can. Sure, you work to get money, but more than anything it’s because you feel it’s your responsibility to handle. Like your job gives special meaning to your life. Makes you different from the rest of the world in a good way.
Work troubles, failures could affect you more than other people, shaking your belief in yourself and your abilities. Same as with 2nd house placements, or maybe even more: take a very good look at your priorities list. Don’t fool yourself into thinking you don’t need relationships. Because you know you don’t really believe it either. Make space for people to enter your life and to get to know you and be with you. Living for your career alone is a lonesome and ultimately unsatisfying path.
Mercury in 3rd house: communication plays an important role in your life, for better or for worse. If you are a good at expressing yourself then it’s a gift and blessing. If not, then it’s a horrid curse. The way you express yourself has a strong impact on those around you. Stop denying the obvious. Being an introvert and a recluse doesn’t excuse tardiness in communication and leaving things up to misinterpretation. It only creates headaches for everybody involved, including yourself!
There is a real potential to become a charismatic, witty, sharp-minded individual with this position as well as a good multitasker. You’re an adaptable and very curious learner who needs mental stimulation. You may find it easier than others to learn new languages.
Lilith in 5th house | Saturn in 1st, 5th, 7th house | Aspects between Saturn an Venus/Mars: you may reject physical affection or feel a diminished need for it. You may also have an unusual relationship to physical touch, needing it in surprising moments, or just in specific ways.
Chiron in 8th house: attracts situations and people that hurt them one way or another. A deeply karmic placement. The wounds are centered around intimacy, trust, shared-resources, loss and transformation. You may find it very hard to trust people and let them close. You fear losing the people close to you. There could be struggles with power and control in your personal relationships. In order to heal, doing shadow work and spiritual practices is a good choice. You could use crystals, music, energy healing or whatever resonates with you the most. Also redefining what intimacy means to you is of special importance.
Lilith in Leo: could attract toxic people in love, individuals who don’t value them for the beautiful souls they actually are. Power struggles are possible.
On the upside, they are very charismatic, individualistic and captivating people with plenty of creativity. There is an authoritative air to the way they carry themselves. They have amazing style and always feel the need to look strong in public. They have a strong ego and are quite stubborn. They love getting plenty of attention, though they might not admit it’s true.
A person with Lilith in Leo probably had one or both parents who very emotionally distant/neglectful and it could indicate having a highly strict, even dictatorial father.
Instead of constantly looking for validation outside, look inside of yourself. You are worthy exactly the way you are, you charming soul. You need not prove a thing to anyone or get anybody’s attention. It’s a foul tarp that’ll make you sink lower the further you try to move. Other people’s opinion of you it’s just an opinion and that’s all. How do you actually see yourself? What is truly of importance in your life? Those are questions you should ask yourself.
1st house Lilith: a conflicting relationship when it comes to body image, self-expression, self-confidence or your sexuality. Since childhood you may have felt rejected by other people and not because you said or did anything upsetting but just by the virtue of being yourself. It’s like they can sense the rebellious, wild energy you embody and feel intimidated by it. You may feel like you don’t really fit in with any group of people. Being shy, insecure and having weak boundaries in childhood could be very likely.
Body-image issues: people might be making many comments about your body or you might feel insecure about the way you like, constantly feeling like you could look better it’s not enough. Generally this placement is said to give a very beautiful and attractive body with darker eyes and hair.
Many people likely feel attracted to you and your presence definitely makes itself known in a room.
Self-expression issues: you may find that people purposefully ignore what you say or are pissed when you open your mouth even to ask a simple question. You may feel very insecure about your voice or the way you express yourself. You may find it very difficult to find people on the same wavelength as you and building authentic and close relationships also might not come easily.
Self-confidence and boundaries: they are usually developed as the native grows in age. In youth these people can be quite shy.
On the upside: you exude uniqueness, wild and raw sexual energy and you definitely have a magnetic presence that draws others in.
The key with this Lilith placement is to accept yourself and stand up for yourself no matter what. Have confidence in your worth as a person and strong boundaries. Never let anybody disrespect you. Not once. It could otherwise become a habit. Many people will like you while others will hate you. It’s just the way it is. Might as well accept that you are different from others, embrace it and make the absolute best out of it.
Thanks for reading!! Hope my observations resonate with you. Would love to chat you guys.😄🩷

South node & what you need to release
South node in 1st house- you need to release a part of yourself to be fully in a relationship. You need to put more of your energy into others. Be more comfortable with others. You also need to find your true self to actually find someone who is right for you. The problem with this south node is that the person likes to be alone and feels comfortable alone, but deep down they want someone. They seek connection with the wrong people and let people into their lives who are not good for them. They need someone who will truly see them for who they are. For you to truly find your person. You have to look within yourself.
South node in 2nd house- you have to let go of control, comfort, attachment to things. You are used to stability, security, comfort, luxury, money, material things. You can hold on to the things and people you love for a long time. You may have developed a strong attachment to financial security or to defining your value through what you own or how others perceive you in a concrete way. The North Node in the 8th house pushes you toward inner transformation, trusting more in emotional depth and connections with others. You’re meant to learn to let go, trust life’s flow, and accept that true value isn’t in material wealth but in deep connections, emotional growth, and transformation. True abundance comes from inner evolution rather than just financial or physical security.
South Node in 3rd house- you have to let go of your past life patterns (or karmic tendencies) revolve around intellect, communication, logic, and gathering information. You may have been someone who relied heavily on the mind, facts, and constant learning, but without diving deep into true wisdom. You may have a habit of gathering endless information or overthinking things, but now it’s time to focus on deeper understanding rather than just facts. The 3rd house is linked to short trips, social interactions, and mental stimulation. If you’re always engaged in small talk or minor tasks, it's time to step back and focus on the bigger picture. You may have been comfortable with familiar ideas and local surroundings, but now you’re meant to explore new cultures, philosophies, and a broader spiritual or intellectual perspective.
South Node in 4th house -you have to let go the comforts of home, the environment you are used to, and you may have to become more alienated from your mother (your mother may have had a great influence on you when you were little and on your decisions). You may have been deeply attached to your past, your family, or the need for comfort and emotional safety. You may have had a strong attachment to your family, home life, or childhood patterns. Now, you're meant to create your own path rather than staying tied to old emotional dynamics. You may have spent lifetimes focused on family duties, caretaking, or your inner emotional world. Now, it’s time to prioritize your career, ambitions, and public legacy. The 4th house is a deeply personal and emotional space. If you’ve been too focused on personal matters, you need to step up and embrace responsibility in the professional or public sphere.
South Node in 5th house- your soul has already experienced themes of creativity, romance, pleasure, and self-expression in past lives. You may have been deeply immersed in self-expression, personal projects, or artistic pursuits, but now, the lesson is to share your talents in a way that benefits the collective rather than just for personal fulfillment. You have to let go of worries related to children and focus on your joy. It's time to move away from needing intense love affairs and instead focus on deeper, long-term bonds built on friendship and shared ideals. If you’ve been used to standing out as the center of attention, the challenge is to recognize that you don’t lose yourself by being part of something bigger.
South Node in 6th house-you have to let go of worries, over-analyzing, perfectionism. Worries about health or a general preoccupation with cleanliness and minimalism. You are probably very good at organizing, planning things, and you usually want things to go according to plan. It's good to let yourself know that you're not perfect and that things don't always have to be perfect. You may have spent lifetimes being highly disciplined, responsible, and focused on efficiency. Now, it’s time to let go of the idea that your worth is tied to how much you accomplish. You may have a habit of focusing on flaws—either in yourself or others. This lifetime is about shifting from judgment to compassion and seeing the bigger picture rather than just the details. This lifetime is about shifting from rigid control and practicality to deep surrender and trust in the unknown.
South Node in 7th house- you have to let go of relationships that no longer serve you and start to find who you are without the relationships you have in your life. You may have focused a lot on relationships and spent a lot of time in relationships and are used to always having someone, but in this case, your goal is to find yourself without a partner. Not caring about the needs of others but serving yourself. It's time to release the fear of disappointing others and focus on your own desires. However, your soul's growth now comes from embracing independence and learning that solitude is where you discover your true self. The lesson here is to stop relying on others to affirm your worth.
South Node in 8th house- you are used to transformations, intense things, deep relationships. In past lives, you may have been financially, emotionally, or energetically tied to others, relying on their resources or support. Now, you are meant to build your own stability and wealth rather than depending on external sources. The 8th house deals with endings, trauma, and deep emotional experiences. You may have had past-life experiences of loss, power struggles, or intense transformations. Now, your soul craves peace, security, and steadiness, rather than dramatic ups and downs. The 8th house is connected to deep emotional bonds, sometimes to the point of obsession. You may have a history of toxic relationships, karmic entanglements, or emotional extremes, and now, you're meant to learn self-worth, self-reliance, and emotional stability.
South Node in 9th house-your soul has spent past lives (or early in this life) focused on seeking truth, higher knowledge, travel, and philosophical exploration. You may have a tendency to always look at life in a broad, philosophical way, but now, you’re meant to focus on the details and practical knowledge rather than abstract ideas. In past lives, you may have been a traveler, a scholar, or a spiritual seeker who moved from place to place in search of wisdom. Now, it's time to find meaning in your immediate surroundings, everyday conversations, and personal experiences rather than always looking outward. In past lives, you may have walked a solitary path, seeking truth in foreign lands or through intellectual pursuits. Now, you are meant to engage with your local community, form meaningful conversations, and share knowledge in a way that connects people.
South Node in 10th house- you may have built your identity around success, recognition, and achievements. Now, your path is about finding fulfillment within, rather than relying on career or public image for validation. In past lives, you may have been extremely ambitious, prioritizing work and public life over personal matters. It’s time to release the need to prove yourself through constant productivity and focus on emotional well-being instead. Now, you are meant to embrace your emotions, heal family wounds, and create a safe space for yourself. – In past lives, your soul may have prioritized external accomplishments over home and relationships. This lifetime teaches you that personal connections and emotional stability matter more than public success.
South Node in 11th house-you may have spent lifetimes being deeply involved in social causes, communities, or large networks. While this gave you a sense of belonging, you are now meant to focus on your own individuality rather than blending into a group. Now, your soul’s path is about following your heart, embracing joy, and allowing yourself to create without overanalyzing. You might have a habit of prioritizing friendships or collective goals over personal relationships. In this lifetime, you're meant to embrace romance, intimacy, and the vulnerability that comes with deep personal connections. Your challenge is to stop waiting for “someday” and allow yourself to live fully in the moment. You may feel more comfortable working behind the scenes or as part of a team. But now, you're being called to step into the spotlight, embrace your uniqueness, and let your creative energy shine.
South Node in 12th house-In past lives, you may have been a mystic, monk, or someone who lived in retreat from society. You may naturally withdraw from the world, but this life is about engaging in the physical world and being of service. Now, you're meant to ground your spiritual wisdom in daily routines and structured habits instead of floating in the abstract. The 12th house is tied to past-life karma. You may feel like you have an unseen weight on your shoulders or a subconscious sense of guilt. In this lifetime, you are not meant to sacrifice yourself but to serve others in a balanced, healthy way. You may have a habit of avoiding structure, discipline, or the details of daily life. Your soul is now learning the importance of commitment, routine, and practical efforts that lead to real-world results.

What trauma can become your power? Chiron in the houses
Tumblr media
Chiron in the 1st house
Chiron in the first house signifies a deep inner wound related to personal identity, self-esteem, and the sense of self. This may stem from trauma experienced in early life when a person felt inadequate, rejected, or misunderstood in their unique expressions. Individuals with this placement often struggle to justify their existence, prove their worth, or meet others’ expectations to earn love and recognition.
However, this wound can become a source of incredible strength. Over time, individual learns to accept themselves as they are, with all their imperfections, vulnerabilities, and unique traits. This journey of self-discovery and acceptance not only helps heal their wound but also inspires others who face similar inner conflicts. Chiron in the first house makes a person highly sensitive to issues of individuality and self-expression, and their personal struggle with these themes becomes a powerful tool for helping others.
Chiron in the 2nd house
Chiron in the second house often indicates a wound related to self-worth, self-esteem, and material security. People with this placement may experience feelings of inadequacy, inner shame, or fear from an early age, believing they are undeserving of abundance or stability. They might have faced situations where their value was questioned by others, or they struggled to identify what makes them unique and worthy.
However, this wound carries the potential for profound transformation. As individual begins to work on recognizing their true worth, they can develop a powerful sense of inner resilience and learn to view the material world as a tool for growth rather than a source of fear. By overcoming self-doubt, they can become an inspiring example for others, demonstrating that a person’s value is not determined by external circumstances but emerges from inner confidence and self-acceptance.
Chiron in the second house has the power to transform this wound into a source of strength, helping the individual not only to build their self-esteem but also to guide others in discovering their true worth. Such a person may develop a unique gift for healing issues related to money, abundance, and self-worth, both in their own life and in the lives of those around them.
Chiron in the 3rd house
Chiron’s wound in the third house is associated with themes of communication, learning, self-expression, and interactions with the immediate environment, including siblings, neighbors, and close acquaintances. This placement may point to painful experiences related to the inability to be heard or understood, fear of saying the wrong thing, feelings of intellectual inadequacy, or traumas in relationships with relatives. A person with this placement often struggles with internal conflicts around expressing their thoughts and ideas, feeling that their voice does not matter or that their words are not taken seriously.
However, this wound can become a source of strength when the individual finds ways to overcome their inner fears and begins to see their experience as a unique gift. This transformative process often involves recognizing the value of their own voice and the power of words. Such individuals are capable of developing exceptional communication skills and becoming sources of support and inspiration for others. They may excel as teachers, writers, counselors, or lecturers, helping others overcome fears and learn self-expression. Their early pain teaches them to be attentive listeners and empathetic conversationalists, sensitive to the subtleties of communication and able to create a space for meaningful dialogue.
Chiron in the 4th house
Chiron’s wound in the fourth house is associated with matters of home, family, roots, and emotional security. This can manifest as a sense of lacking warmth, acceptance, or support during childhood, feeling alienated from one’s relatives, or an inability to find a place that feels like “home.” A person with this placement may experience an internal conflict between the desire to put down roots and the fear of being rejected or emotionally vulnerable.
However, the potential for transformation arises through working with this wound. By overcoming these inner fears and learning to create a sense of home within themselves, the individual can become a source of support for others, particularly for those who face similar challenges. They learn to transform pain into strength, developing a deep understanding of emotional needs and creating a space where others feel safe and accepted.
This wound becomes a source of strength when the individual recognizes that their ability to be empathetic, caring, and supportive has grown out of their own pain. Chiron in the 6th house
Chiron’s wound in the sixth house is associated with a sense of inadequacy in daily life, service to others, and care for one’s body and health. People with this placement may experience inner conflicts stemming from feelings that they are not good enough in their work, that their efforts are undervalued, or that they are unable to care for themselves or others in the way they desire. This can manifest as chronic anxiety, difficulties establishing a healthy routine, or a tendency toward perfectionism that drains their energy.
However, this wound can become a powerful source of strength. A person with Chiron in the sixth house has the ability to transform their struggles into profound wisdom and an understanding of how to navigate daily challenges. They can become excellent mentors, healers, or specialists who help others organize their lives, overcome work-related difficulties, or improve their health. The core strength here lies in approaching oneself and others with compassion, recognizing the value of even the smallest efforts, and helping others find harmony in their everyday lives. Such individuals become a source of inspiration, demonstrating that wounds do not define us but can serve as a foundation for meaningful service that brings joy and purpose.
Chiron in the 7th house
Chiron’s wound in the seventh house is often associated with painful experiences in relationships and challenges related to finding a balance between oneself and a partner. This can manifest as feelings of rejection, disappointment in love, fear of intimacy, or a constant need to please others at the expense of one’s own needs.
However, like any Chiron wound, this trauma carries immense potential for healing and transformation. By recognizing their fears, failures, and behavioral patterns, individuals with this placement can develop deep empathy, wisdom, and the ability to support others through emotional and personal crises. This wound becomes a source of strength when they learn to harmonize with themselves, find a balance between independence and closeness, and build healthy relationships based on respect and mutual understanding. In doing so, they become an example for others, inspiring deeper and more conscious connections.
Chiron in the 8th house
Chiron in the eighth house often indicates deep emotional wounds related to themes of loss, transformation, intimacy, or matters of life and death. This can manifest through painful experiences such as betrayal, fear of losing control, or difficulties trusting others in close relationships. However, these very wounds can become a source of incredible strength and inner growth if the person is willing to recognize their significance and transform their experience.
Healing pain in the eighth house is possible through embracing vulnerability and exploring the power of transformation. This process can turn the fear of change into an ability not only to accept transitions but also to help others navigate through periods of crisis. People with Chiron in the eighth house can become remarkable mentors or healers, possessing a unique ability to understand others’ pain on a deep level and show them paths to healing. Their strength is born from the realization that true transformation begins with accepting the darker aspects of oneself, ultimately leading to inner freedom and empowerment.
Chiron in the 9th house
Chiron’s wound in the ninth house is associated with deep scars in the realms of higher education, philosophy, faith, the search for meaning, and travel. A person may feel an inner conflict or insecurity in their beliefs, doubt their own knowledge, or experience the pain of being unable to find their place within a worldview system. This wound often manifests as a sense of rejection of their ideas or beliefs or as a feeling of losing connection with something greater—be it cultural, spiritual, or intellectual belonging.
However, it is precisely through working with this wound that a person can gain immense strength. Chiron teaches us to heal our pain by sharing our experiences with others. The wound of the ninth house can become a source of wisdom if one recognizes that their unique journey, even if it has been full of doubt and searching, can inspire and guide others. They may become a teacher, philosopher, or guide, helping others find meaning in life and expand the boundaries of their worldview. By accepting their wound, the person becomes open to a diversity of perspectives, which makes them incredibly wise and tolerant. Thus, Chiron’s wound in the ninth house transforms into a source of strength, helping not only the individual but also those around them, building bridges between different cultures, religions, or philosophical systems.
Chiron in the 10th house
Chiron in the 10th house indicates wounds related to social status, career, achievements, and attitudes toward authority. This may manifest as a feeling of inability to achieve success or fear of responsibility. Such individuals often face criticism from society or loved ones, which can lead to self-doubt and uncertainty about their professional abilities. However, this vulnerability can become their strength if they recognize their fears and transform them into wisdom.
By overcoming the inner conflict tied to self-esteem and societal recognition, a person with Chiron in the tenth house can become a mentor to others, helping them overcome their own professional and personal barriers. This wound can provide a deep understanding of the nature of leadership, teach the balance between ambition and emotional needs, and show how to maintain resilience in challenging circumstances. Thus, Chiron in the tenth house has the potential to transform the pain into a source of inspiration and support for others.
Chiron in the 11th house
Chiron in the eleventh house indicates a wound related to themes of friendship, acceptance in groups, social ideals, and a sense of belonging to a community. A person with this placement may feel isolated or misunderstood within a collective, face betrayal by friends, or experience the sense that their uniqueness prevents them from being part of something larger. However, this wound can become a source of growth and strength. By working through their experiences, the individual learns to value their individuality and use it to build harmonious connections with others.
Chiron in this house grants the ability to mentor or inspire others, particularly those who feel “different” or out of place. The trauma associated with rejection can transform into the gift of creating communities where mutual understanding, respect, and support flourish. Thus, personal experiences of pain become the foundation for helping others find their place in the world.
Chiron in the 12th house
Chiron in the twelfth house often indicates a profound emotional wound connected to feelings of loneliness, separation from the world, or the suppression of emotions. This may stem from experiences of loss, hidden fears, or repressed traumas that a person carries within themselves, often without fully realizing it. The wound of Chiron here is tied to the subconscious, to what is hidden from the external world, and sometimes the person may feel lost, not understanding where their pain and anxiety originate.
However, this very wound can become an incredible source of strength and transformation. If a person becomes aware of their inner fears and wounds, they can learn to work with them, transforming them into compassion and wisdom. Chiron in the twelfth house offers the potential for deep healing—not only of oneself but also of others. Such a person can become a guide for those who are suffering, possessing a unique gift for delving into the hidden corners of the soul and helping others understand and embrace their shadows.
The key to turning the wound into strength is accepting one’s vulnerability and exploring the inner world through meditation, psychological work, or spiritual practices. Chiron in this house teaches that weakness can become a powerful resource for inner growth, and through serving and helping others, a person can find profound meaning and personal healing.

A Guide To Shape-Shifting
Tumblr media
Shape-shifting has long captivated the human imagination, holding a prominent place in the realms of witchcraft and the occult. In fact, the myth of the shape-shifting witch can be found in folklore around the world and across multiple cultures, from the British Isles to the Americas to Asia and Africa. Witches were reported to turn into rabbits, cats, deer, mice, owls, ravens, and wolves. Shape-shifting is an intriguing practice that involves altering one's physical form, or at least one's perception and is often associated with mystical abilities and spiritual connections.
What Is Shape-Shifting?
Shape-shifting, in the context of witchcraft refers to the belief and practice of altering one's form or perception through magick and ritual and can take place in the Otherworld or on our current astral plane, depending on the needs of the witch. It encompasses the idea of undergoing a physical or metaphysical transformation, allowing witches to embody different beings, animals, or even objects. Often times this occurs when the witch wears the body of an animal, we know literal transformation is not possible, but it can certainly happen on an energetic or spirit level. This can occur in one of two ways: the witch's spirit transforms into the spirit of an animal or the witch's spirit 'rides' a living animal or external spirit on the physical plane or in the Otherworld. In either case, both are considered shape-shifting and can be used for the same purposes.
Some History
By the 13th century, it was widely believed witches could turn into animals at will. Witches were believed to turn into hares, toads, dogs, cats, and other animals to steal from their neighbors, curse livestock, and otherwise create mischief and mayhem. In many cases, harm done to the animal form caused similar wounds to the human.
In 1649, John Palmer of St. Albans, England confessed to transforming into a toad in order to torment his neighbor. The neighbor reportedly kicked the toad and Palmer complained of sore shins afterward. Similar stories appear in American folklore, including Aunty Greenleaf who was said to take on the form of a white doe to torment her neighbor's livestock. When the doe was shot with three silver bullets, Aunty Greenleaf was said to later die with three silver bullets in her spine.
Of course shape-shifting myths and folklore don't end there. We also have the Navajo skinwalker, the American loup-garou, Korean kumiho, Japanese yokai, the Kitsune, and the Mexican La Lechuza.
Famous incantations come from Isobel Gowdie during the 17th century witch trials. During her confessions, Gowdie named two charms one for transforming into a hare and and one for transforming back into a woman.
Tumblr media
To Transform Into A Hare:
"I shall go into a hare
With sorrow and such a meickle care;
And I shall go in the Devil's name
Ay while I come home again."
To Transform Back:
"Hare, hare, God send thee care.
I am in a hare's likeness now,
But I shall be in a woman's likeness even now."
Other witches reported similar shape-shifting incantations as seen below.
To Transform Into A Cat:
"I shall go into a cat,
With sorrow and such a black shat;
And I shall go in the Devil's name,
Ay while I come home again."
To Transform Into A Crow:
"I shall go into a crow,
With sorrow and such a black thraw;
And I shall go in the Devil's name,
Ay while I come home again."
Modern Uses Of Shape-Shifting
Tumblr media
In contemporary witchcraft, shape-shifting has taken on metaphorical and symbolic significance. Modern witches utilize shape-shifting as a tool for personal growth, empowerment, and self-discovery. Through the exploration of different archetypes and primal instincts, witches seek to deepen their understanding of themselves and their connection to the natural world, develop a relationship with an animal guide or totem, or even gain new perspectives on a problem. Shape-shifting becomes a means to tap into hidden aspects of the psyche and to embrace transformative experiences. This can take many forms, including calling upon different animal spirits during spellwork, meditating on different animal aspects, working with animal spirits, journaling, ritual dances, etc.
Shape-shifting also shares a deep connection with shamanic journeying and hedge riding, a practice in which the witch traverses the different realms of the Otherworld for spiritual insight and healing. Within hedge riding and othet shamanic traditions, shape-shifting serves as a means to enter other dimensions, communicate with spirits, and tap into their wisdom and attributes. By assuming the form of a particular animal, the shamen can embody ita qualities, accessing unique perspectives and guidance on their journey. An animal form is also taken often as a form of protection during otherworldly travel, as animal spirits are often able to traverse undetected, acting as a form of invisibility, much like Celtic fith-fath incantations. An animal form also allows the witch to travel more quickly and in some cases, access areas previously unreachable, such as high mountain tops, deep within an ocean or lake, or even borrowing underground or into tight spaces.
How To Shape-Shift
Modern witches engage in shape-shifting through various techniques and practices. Visualization exercises play a significant role, where witches create vivid mental images of their desired form or archetype, often coupled with ritual work such as wearing animal skin/bones, dancing, drumming, or incantations. Through meditation, yoy can enter a state of deep focus and receptivity, allowing yourself to embody the essence and qualities of the chosen form. Energy work such as harnessing personal energy or working with elemental forces, can serve as a catalyst for the transformation, although most witches find it easier to use a mask or skin, or use an ointment to prompt the change. Needless to say, there are multiple approaches to shape-shifting and you need to experiment to find which method works best for you. Below are several ways to engage in shape-shifting from both folklore and modern witchcraft.
• Incantations And Charms- This is probably one of the most commonly cited historical ways to shape-shift, with the incantations from Isobel Gowdie and her fellow witches being cited most often. These incantations can be modernized and adapted to turn you into any animal you desire. Since most witches do not incorporate "God" or the Devil in their craft, these titles can be changed to reference deities or the forces you believe in such as Lord/Lady, Horned God, Hekate, Lilith, etc. Pagan musician Damh the Bard does an excellent job of this in his "Fith Fath Song" where he says "I shall go as a wren in spring
With sorrow and sighing on silent wing
And I shall go in our Lady's name
Aye, til I come home again
Then we shall follow as falcons grey
And hunt thee cruelly for our prey
And we shall go in our Horned God's name
Aye to fetch thee home again
Then I shall go as a mouse in May
Through fields by night and in cellars by day
And I shall go in our Lady's name
Aye til I come home again
Then we shall follow as black tom cats
And hunt through the fields and the vats
And we shall go in our Horned God's name
Aye to fetch thee home again... "
Of course writing your own incantations works just as well, if not better, than using others' words.
Tumblr media
• Wearing Animal Skins, Bones, Or Masks- Apart from incantations, many witches engage in shape-shifting by animal skins, bones, or masks to encourage a transformation. This is often coupled with ritual dancing and drumming until an altered state of consciousness is reached. In Call of the Horned Piper, Nigel Jackson describes such a ritual. In order to shape-shift, the initiate would undergo a symbolic death by undressing and crossing a lake or other body of water. Upon arriving on the other side they would don a wolf skin or belt and enter into an altered state of consciousness to "be projected forth into the form of a wolf". This same practice can be replicated with any animal pelt, bone, or mask, using a cold shower as the bridge to 'death' should you not have access to a river or lake and privacy.
• Trance, Meditation, and Visualization- Reaching an altered state of consciousness coupled with one or both of the aforementioned methods is the key to actual transformation. Reaching an altered state of consciousness can be done in a variety of ways, including ritual dancing, drumming, humming, consuming psychoactive plants, or using ointments. The methods used are essentially the same as hedge-riding, however the goal of reaching the trance state is to shape-shift. With that intention firmly in your mind, you can visualize yourself shifting into your animal form, your consciousness slowly becoming that of an animal. You may find walking/crawling on all fours, growling, hissing, or otherwise behaving like the animal aids in this transformation. Become the animal you wish to transfrom into.
If you are looking to shape-shift while hedge-riding, visualizing the shift, reciting an incantation, and donning your animal garb within the Otherworld will also work. Unlike on our plane, you won't need to shift your consciousness again, as that has already occurred. While you don't necessarily need anything physical to do this, having real animal remains or a mask on your person prior to hedge-riding will greatly aid you in your work on the astral plane.
When first starting out, start small, shape-shifting for very short periods of time. Experiment with a variety of methods, combining them into a ritual that works for you.
Shape-Shifting Safety
There are dangers to shape-shifting into an animal form. This includes not being able to return to your body because tou have forgotten you're human, forgetting which realm you belong to, being captured, injured, or killed within the Otherworld or while riding a live animal. There are many tales of witches traversing the world as an animal and being injured only for the same wounds to appear on the witch's human form. These injuries sometimes resulted in the death of the witch, so be mindful of hazards while shape-shifting.
Tumblr media
What You Can Do To Protect Yourself
1. Set clear and firm boundaries and time limits for travel. Setting an alarm or using a musical cue can help pull you back from a trance.
2. Have a spotter who can help rouse you should you not come back when originally planned.
3. Have a safe word or incantation that when spoken pulls your spirit into your body.
4. Use a red witch's thread tied around your finger or arm to anchor your spirit to your physical body. If you get lost, follow the thread back to your body.
5. Carry or wear protective charms that will prevent your spirit from being stolen or harmed while in the Otherworld. Your familiar or household pet can also act as a protector of your body, sitting on or near you during shape-shifting to ensure nothing else tries to inhabit your body.
6. When you are finished, make sure you are completely grounded in your human body.
Tumblr media
Shape-shifting in witchcraft remains an enigmatic and alluring practice, intertwining myth, history, and contemporary spirituality. It offers a gateway to explore the depths of our own selves, connect with the primal forces of nature, and embark on transformative journeys of self-discovery. Whether through the exploration of archetypes, communion with spirits, or embracing the hidden aspects of our being, shape-shifting provides a mystical transformation that resonates with the essence of true witchcraft.
