Fandom Trumps Hate 2025!

Looking for a scene drawn for your story? A piece to help inspire you to write a fic? A new icon? How about covers for your story with full print-ready Graphic Design service? Maybe a pinup, or some trading cards (up to 10)?? Maybe a gift for someone, or just your vision of a character(s) (up to 3 character sheets) for your AU?

Well, that’s just some of the stuff I’m willing to offer for this year’s @fandomtrumpshate​​ Charity Event! FTH is a WONDERFUL community project that supports amazing non-profits through donations for fanworks via this wonderful annual event!

I am offering ONE fanart Piece for BBC Sherlock or Good Omens!

Because of my day job's circumstances this year where I will be guaranteed to be indisposed for about 3 months and unable to work on my personal projects, I feel I am only able to offer up one piece this year instead of my usual 2 to 4. This will be my sixth year, and the piece will be for either the BBC Sherlock or Good Omens fandoms, starting at 10$ for the non-profit of your choice!

I will draw any ship from either of the above fandoms, though I do prefer Johnlock or the Husbands. All my work is done digitally at a minimum 2000x2000 print-ready piece in Procreate. Traditional media (markers, India ink, and pencils) is also available if you prefer, done on illustration or marker paper at the paper’s size, with the option of acquiring the original if you choose. I will also do it at a requested size if you have a preferred format for something specific (like a book cover or a comic panel). Feel free to DM me if you have any questions before bidding on me, or to see if I am able to draw what you would like!! I want you to be satisfied that I can achieve what you want!

If you judge people based on what they write and what characters they want dead, then you support censorship and belief in thought crime.

You act like the fandom police. You support writing and free expression as long as it's your ship and maybe another het ship. But Sherlock can totally be bisexual or pansexual, as long as he ends up with a woman and it's never talked about and he never faces any adversity that irl queer man face! And if anyone accuses me of biphobia or erasure trust me you don't want to deal with me right now.

But Sher/lolly is queer because you said so and Molly is bisexual because you headcanon her as such because headcanon isn't canon unless it's you!

And you are hypocrites. Because then you pat yourself for being a great LGBT ally as if a Sher/lolly shipper didn't taunt Mark Gatiss about the Orlando shooting and you proceeded to sweep it under the rug when it was directed to you. Hypocrites. All of you. And when your actual very real homophobia is revealed, you don't deny it, you say Johnlockers deserved it. I wonder why.

And unless it's people like Anarfea who I will name despite disagreeing with her on lots of things (like Mary) because she called that shit out when she saw it, you're complicit.

On the Subject of Noncon Fanworks: Thoughts of a Reader, Writer, Survivor is a really good essay on the value of darkfic. Hosted on, you guessed it, AO3.

Here's wishing all harassers and doxxers a very get arrested for stalking.

"Why can't the freaks on AO3 just go and make a site for all the gross stuff and leave AO3 alone."

Because AO3 is that site. Because AO3 was that site long before you decided AO3 was better than the sites you bullied us off of before, and I can promise you if someone somehow comes up with a fanfic site you like better specifically for the 'gross stuff' you'll try to bully us off that too so you can benefit from it.

AO3's specific core purpose is to preserve fanfiction, yes, but it was also instigated as a host site for the fanfiction that kept getting yeeted off other platforms like Wattpad. Its designed to preserve all fanfiction, not just the fanfiction you, personally, think is 'allowed' to be written.

AO3 is the site for all the gross stuff the freaks make. We've been there just as long as you. We've been funding it just as long as you have. AO3 has specifically said you have a place here. The timeline was literally:

Wattpad/FF.net/LiveJournal purge fanfics > AO3 is born > The people who's fics got purged moved over to AO3 > AO3 gains popularity as the best functioning site > The people who pushed for the fics to be purged off Wattpad move to AO3 > The same people try to push for AO3 to purge fics.

AO3's source coding is open-access. You go make a polished, strict, rigid site where nothing 'icky' is allowed. You go make a site where you can control what is hosted. We already have our space.

Greg and Mycroft have been seeing each other (neither of them calls it dating) for several months when Greg asks Mycroft on a date on Wednesday. Not ‘Valentine’s Day,’ even though it is, because Greg doesn’t want to spook Mycroft by appearing overly sentimental or romantic. Mycroft spooks anyway.

*hug!* I didn’t wanna toss this in the PSA, but yes. The standard treatment for this cancer at this stage is a total hysterectomy. Which, given the issues I’ve been having all along, I was already advocating for. I’m 47, there ain’t gonna be no babies, so let’s do this. Treatment usually doesn’t even involve chemotherapy. The good thing about this cancer is that it’s, by definition, very confined from spreading throughout the body. 

If I had to get cancer, I got very very very lucky. 5 year survival rate is 95% or higher, so I think most of my fallout is going to be emotional. Cancer’s been kind of a phobia for me, like ULTIMATE ALL TIME WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN EVER, but most of the fears connected to it are not likely to arise in my situation.

Oh you trouble maker you. What can I say about Johnlock. I can tell you it is not my top ship, however, I still enjoy it very much. There are so many great authors and artists in this ship, how can I not. I will admit to having issues with some of the fans in this ship, but not the ship itself. It used to be higher up my list, but I have lost the love for Martin Freeman I used to have. Some of my fave stories are by: Deklava, Sexxica, illwick plus some that have become orphan accounts on AO3

The concept of two such fascinating characters in love works for me.

How do you create an original character?

Huh. I actually did a blog post on this not so long ago! :) 

My story ideas--for original stuff--usually come as a ‘what if’ or a mix of things. The seed of an idea for the story hits me, and I start trying to figure out, okay, who would be in that story? Sometimes a character comes to me first and I go looking for a story for them, but usually the hook comes first.

The initial hook of the book I’m writing right now was: “The Bourne Identity + Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but with a female main character.” 

Which of course meant I needed my amnesiac super soldier. I also needed a foil for her, someone who could help her on her search for who she was (and of course, be a love interest). So to go along with my stoic, somewhat paranoid former assassin, I came up with a jittery, over-talkative computer geek with quasi-legal hacking skills. (A lot like Hardison from Leverage, but dialed back several smidges.)

The idea has evolved a LOT since then. It’s been like, four years since I first started tossing the idea around. It’s changed genres, the computer geek is now another woman instead of a guy (still a love interest though!), even the core of the story isn’t the same at all. It is definitely not the book I thought I’d be writing four years ago.

BUT. I started with the same core description: amnesiac super soldier on the run meets jittery, chatty computer geek. 

From there, I start fleshing out who these people are. The biggest, most helpful thing for me there is using the Goal, Motivation, Conflict technique.

It boils down to three questions: What does the character want? Why do they want it? Why can’t they have it? Your plot turns into a fourth question: How do they work to get it?

This was SO helpful for me because left to my own devices, I am prone to writing very reactive characters. They don’t create the story so much as the story happens to them. And that’s kind of dull. By making sure I know what they want, and keeping the story focused on how they try to get it and what obstacles are in the way, it helps me avoid that. 

So that’s at the core. All the other details trickle in as I start plotting and or writing, as they’re needed.
