Huh, neat. Apparently I can sew heavy chain onto fabric much easier by attaching a soda can tab on the other side of the fabric as a reinforcement, and sewing the tab and the link together through the cloth. Bears the weight much more evenly, stays sturdier, less worry about ripping since no singular point of the fabric is the load-bearing structure.

after months of agonizing over it, he's finally here: the sonic variant from my original shatterspace! syzygy, or "ziggy," has a bad attitude, and no powers at all. that's right! after creating a sonic variant that's basically a god in terms of his power level, i've decided this one doesn't have any superspeed.

instead, he uses extreme gear to get around.

as for why he doesn't have a wisp... well, he used to, but it met an unfortunate end when he was still very young. since then, he became prickly and closed off. at least, that's what most people think.

in truth, the twist to his character is that he's the embodiment of sonic's "power of friendship." he's rescued several kids from certain death situations, and has formed his own little gang of superpowered loyalists. among these kids are this universe's cream, ray, and kit. more about them will come later...

also, something to note about this shatterspace: since the world is fractured in two, i figured it would only make sense for space to be like how it is in "treasure planet". so, there's breathable air up there. syzygy and his little friends spend most of their time traversing the cosmos, searching for a way to fix the planet--a goal that most people on earth have all but forgotten about.

Helô Elanor! I'm learning Welsh and I had a question for cymblr and I thought I'd ask you because you seem to have a large following XD so I hope you don't mind!

Basically I'm curious, how do everyone say years in Welsh? I'm aware that there is a lot of variation (old vs new way of counting, formal vs. casual, whether to pronounce the individual numbers (mil naw dau un) or saying it as a large number (mil naw un ar hugain), whether to use the feminine number etc.) but I want to find out just how much variety I can get. For example how would everyone say the years 1714, 1921, 2005, and 2021??

Personally, I go with what would translate to "Thousand Digit Digit Digit" for a date in the 1000s, and "Two Thousand Digit Digit" for the 2000s. Slight variation if you hit a 0 where a Digit should be - then, you either replace the Digit in question with And, or if appropriate (e.g. at the end of the year) you incorporate it into the preceding Digit to make a number.

So, your examples, plus a few more for illustrative purposes:

1714 - Mil Saith Un Pedwar (lit. Thousand Seven One Four)

1921 - Mil Naw Dau Un (lit. Thousand Nine Two One)

2005 - Dwy Fil A Phump (lit. Two Thousand And Five)

2010 - Dwy Fil A Deg (lit. Two Thousand And Ten)

2021 - Dwy Fil Dau Un (lit. Two Thousand Two One)

Now; Welsh is complicated when it comes to numbers, so this is not an especially formal/correct method. It gets the job done, but you're right to think it should probably involve more fancy shit, like we use for time and that. So, make of that what you will. Numbers in Welsh have always defeated me, personally, so I just happily use my workarounds and don't stress about it - however, a first language speaker would probably be able to give you better pointers than I can.

Sometimes (whether true or not), I get an indignant anger and depressed feeling, thinking about the cynicism of modern culture. When characters like batman are written as dark and violent, and when money rules all, and when everything is about meanspirited comedy instead of simple love and respect. Where'a the optimism we desperately need? I don't know. Maybe it's everywhere and i'm just missing it. But it more or less feels like innocence dies more and more each year. And by the gods, it should not be this way. I should not be having to get optimism and hope from almost exclusively old tv shows and old music (with some exceptions, like a good majority of Bob's Burgers). But I swear...either i'm 20 and pining for ages i never knew (which could be possible), or i'm depressed and reading cynicism and darkness into everything, but I hate it. We need hope and light and beauty. We need something to make us feel life is worth living. Even if that thing is merely a beautiful blue sky with bright green grass. We just need these things.

This is why characters like Superman and Wonder Woman need a renaissance at DC. Or even Captain Marvel/Shazam. These characters are fun, whimsical, optimistic. They can't be dark. If they're dark, then they're not Superman or Wonder Woman or Captain Marvel. These characters are the embodiment of that old school style of optimism and hope. Wonder Woman was the embodiment of compassion with strength. Captain Marvel is just a kid in an adult body. Superman and his main villain are both humanitarians, of a sort. When your villian is Lex Luthor, then you know things are almost always gonna automatically be somewhat left wing politically, while also being incredibly hopeful. Because Luthor is rich and misguided, but he's not complete evil. The man has a heart. And that alone shows faith in mankind. To have your main villain occasionally do good things...It's a sign that life is good. Life is good, and we should live it.
