#hello again everyone. how's it going#isat loop#in stars and time#isat fanart#in stars and time fanart#isat#lucabyteart#isat spoilers#so. had this idea Before getting my hands on the artbook and being validated. literally have a voice note from 4:30am on the 8th where#i frantically noted down this just horrid horrid horrid caption because i'd been musing on the sasasap Dress line all day i suppose#just kind of rotating in my brain the way any kind of first time trying on new clothes for them would be .#just absolutely mental breakdown material and not one i think would be recovered from quickly. they hate being in their own skin#like. a lot? like a lot. the collateral of any kind of transfemme read was barely in my mind until it ended up relevant again while i was#actively working on this. because christ that's a bad combo. 2x different forms of body dysphoria in one. maybe even 3x somehow#plus any scenario where they get clothes is... likely gifted. something they react viciously negatively to in game and i doubt#would improve thereafter. just a veritable katamari of disgust and self-loathing#like i was mostly just thinking abt how a lot of our collective depictions of loop being alienated from their body are rather abstract#in a body horror way mostly. on account of loop being more of a metaphor than a person half the time. so i think i wanted to depict#something closer to just. a human level of body dysphoria. no focus on the whole duplicate thing just... raw disgust for the self#but with the addition of recent discussion and playing ball more with the she/her loop and transfem loop angle...#scenario of leaning into femininity to try throw off suspicion on who they are PLUS realising they might want that PLUS the party#trying to use this to bond with them PLUS body dysphoria PLUS new!gender dysphoria PLUS the usual revulsion for wanting and desire#like. that is a catastrophic combination . not coming out of that one without it getting worse for a few weeks thereafter#that's a real lash out at everyone around them and then recede in shame type breakdown. which im sure looks interesting from#the party's pov because jesus christ that touched a nerve something awful (<- they only have half the context AT BEST)#. so . there's your free scenario to ponder on if you'd want to. seeing as ive done a picture without a shitload of words on it for once#ALSO don't get smart with me in the tags about the mirror test being an absolutely ass test in most regards re: self-awareness#or that things like minnows pass it. i'm a fellow pedant dont worry. it's just that minnow doesn't really have the same ring as dog yknow?#this is supposed to be like an absolutely excruciatingly self loathing thought spoken aloud of a caption. it's pithy and cruel on purpose#and more than a little inspired by (reblogged yesterday) liminal space's 'there is no other dog. it's just you'

This quote from Goncharov (1973) in relation to soukoku has been haunting me from before I even got to that scene in the anime (the full thing is: Katya- Of course we're in love, that's why I tried to shoot you/ Goncharov- If we really were in love you wouldn't have missed). Violence as a tool for communicating emotions, especially love and hatred, especially love and hatred makes me go feral- how could I not think of the iconic quote that says that katya's miss was a sign of a lack of love/a fake love when chuuya didn't miss? tbh I couldn’t for the life of me pick a color palette I liked And Render it so I gave up on color. Enjoy the half assery.
Tbh I’ve just been call it Ithacan Naga, but it’s objectively it’s a mix of snake, owl/bird, and human. So 🤷.
Tbh the wings are supposed to be white/gray-brown, cause owls & Hermes, while his scales are supposed to be an oscillating scale from sea green-blue to purple-tinted gray. Uhm. Evidently that sorta didn’t happen but also did. So.
The purple/grayer scales are gonna be more around with the feathers and wings.
Those fin colors are. Too blue and too bright but I love the colors themselves so they’re staying for now.
Uhm. That’s it for now, ig. I’m sorta on a timer rn and I’m tired so <3

(i've been thinking about this video for a long time, but this gifset by meg @ww2yaoi really inspired me to finish it. i also drew a lot of inspiration and themes from where to begin by ama @warriorgays. thank you both!)
some content warnings under the cut:
i wanted this video to be a really comprehensive dive into both leckie’s and sledge’s arcs, which meant including the particularly horrible parts of the war: namely the dehumanization of japanese people, the way the marines used that dehumanization to justify their actions, and how it eroded their own humanity in turn. as such, i included a lot of elements of the show that i wouldn’t normally put into a video and that i don’t often see in visual fanworks, so i wanted to content warn accordingly. this video includes (in addition to the usual canon-typical violence and discussion of ptsd):
canon-typical racism including racial slurs, desecration of corpses, animal cruelty, frontal nudity, and suicide
#(google drive link included in case it gets pinged off youtube for any number of reasons eek!)#for a little bit there i REALLY did not think i would finish this before the deadline#and then the setback of realizing the tumblr video time limit is 10min................LMAO#kbsd.amv#kbsd.hbow#kbsd.tp#robert leckie#eugene sledge#sledgekie#hbowaredit#hbowardaily#hbowarsteal#so uh. obviously many things to say about this lmao#this took FOREVER to storyboard. i literally made two different spreadsheets about it lmaooooooo#but i'm very very very proud of how it turned out#i never thought i'd make a video longer AND more complicated than destiel bat out of hell. yet here i am#i've had the idea forever to do a video showing all the parallels between them as well as the places where they contrast in really interest#all in the pursuit of illustrating why i think they'd be such a compelling ship if they did have the chance to meet again#(please read the fic i linked in the caption ahhhhhh)#and i wanted to do a last 5 years sort of thing where one arc goes forward and one goes backward and they meet for one moment in the middle#for several reasons: 1) because it would be a VERY fun editing/logistical challenge#2) to suggest that leckie could perhaps regain some peace/faith after the war with gene#hence paralleling leckie in the church to eugene in the field (nature as his sanctuary/place of worship)#3) so i could get a little sickos with the sid/vera parallels#(obv they're not EXACTLY sequential but i think the places where i deviated make sense for the buildup of the video)#as i said in the read more i didn't want to shy away from the shittier parts of their arcs/the war#because that's a huge part of where i think they'd have really compelling differences to work through#i also wanted to get Critical with it and address the way they all talk about the war/their enemy/their cause#('the European [western] canon'). i tried to be purposeful with how i used those scenes so i hope it wasn't excessive#ignore the youtube caption if you click through. it was some overly academic note i typed up to hopefully avoid a takedown LMAO
