The final TF2 issue really got to me. Spoilers, but it’s the reveal that all of this suffering and murder and war over gravel and shitty land was for nothing but senseless, bottomless hatred. That the administrator can’t even remember where this revenge plot started as she flashes through different false memories of her parents’ deaths. There was never a tragic backstory or justification, only terrible people doing despicable things. And despite how crass and stupid and unserious TF2 is, the story subverts every expectation by showing the survivors and inheritors willingly breaking the cycle. Ms. Pauling lies to the administrator and chooses not to save her, and finally lets her die. (Hurts even more if you read into the subtext that Ms. Pauling is in love with the administrator.) She lets the final cache of Australium go and walks away from the burden and legacy of a century-old bloodfeud. Hale lets Gray’s daughter go and live her life freely. Spy is the first to arrive at Scout’s house and meet his big family, finally takes off his mask, and helps with the kids. Even Merasmus exhaustedly makes peace with himself and Soldier and chooses not to curse him or something. There’s nothing to finish, no promises to keep, and no one to avenge. The only thing to do is break the cycle and walk away.

It feels odd how happy and warm everything is, but it feels so right and earned. These bloodthirsty, awful, violent men were expendable cogs in a machine of endless violence, and they found a way out. It’s a genuinely great message about letting go the past that burdens you and finding the will and a way to hit the bricks, change, and be happy. Maybe they don’t technically deserve happiness, but they’ve got it nonetheless, and they’re not gonna let it go to waste. They’re still all crazy and violent, but on their own terms now and with people who love them! Smiles.

I've been thinking about a rockstar Eddie thing that's just a little bit cracky but enraptures my imagination anyway.

At, like 25, all of Eddie's wildest dreams have come true way faster and way easier than he ever dreamed for himself as a high school super super senior and ultimate dropout. The band grinds for a year or two and comes out with a full album, and it's an instant success. A couple more years down the line, they're touring and making a lot of money and going to all the galas and events while maintaining their sense of self. Wayne semi-retires and gets a more relaxed part-time job close to where Eddie lives in Detroit.

Eddie is riding high and he decides, fuck it, all my wildest out of reach dreams come true, I'm going all in on the only thing I've always thought was less reachable than becoming a wold renound musician, finding love and settling down.

He goes from zero to a hundred, getting himself ready to find the love of his life. The CC boys and Wayne are just watching as Eddie starts dressing a little nicer and making him home a little more comfortable and putting a little extra into his shows and wandering around afterward. Eddie has never really dated, and so he's kind of just throwing it all out there to see if he can just...run into the love of his life, woo them, and show how serious he is by showing off his nice but comfortable home and non-rockstar capabilities. He's basically acting like some kind of bird.

Unfortunately, no one really takes him that seriously. Not the guys or anyone Eddie tries to woo. The whole wild rockstar thing gets in the way of how people see him. The band thinks this is another wild whim that will pass in a few months, maybe a couple of years. The people Eddie tries to get something started with take his overtures as either a ploy to get something (a lay, a date, someone to accompany him to an event) or see that he really is trying to fast track find somebody to love and jump both feet first into semi-domestic bliss with and gets scared off.

After a girl, who seemed receptive and fun and like someone Eddie could love, ghosts him Eddie finds himself with his head buried in his knees on a bench in the park near his house, wondering if this is truly the one goal he won't ever be able to reach. He feels someone sit next to him and usually, with his current mindset, he would take this as a sign and start chatting this person up, but he stays buried, hoping they will leave him to wallow in peace.

Instead, the guy asks if there's anything wrong. Eddie has never needed an invitation to rant and none of his friends are taking him seriously so he starts to ramble, not looking up, about his quest and how no one wants to give him a chance, and he just wants someone who wants to share a life with him.

Steve is immediately like, "Oh, that sounds really nice!"

No one has ever given that positive of a response right away to Eddie's idea so he shoots up, surprised at the reaction. The guy next to him is stupidly handsome, with perfect hair and a pretty smile and the sweetest moles Eddie has ever seen. He just stares with big, wet eyes as the man extends a hand.

"Nice to meet you, my name is Steve. I'd be down to give it a shot, show me what you got."

Eddie leaps out of his seat, keeping Steve's hand in his own as he gets down on his knees to kiss his hand like a knight. Steve laughs and Eddie knows this is it, this is his chance and he's grabbing it with both hands.

Eddie has been planning a hundred-and-one perfect dates since he began this scheme and he pulls out half of them in one day for Steve. They go to his favorite cafe with an outside patio, meander through one of Detroit's many car shows, go roller skating, let Steve pick the dinner spot, and walk through the nicest part in the neighborhood, eating ice cream cones with one scoop picked by each of them.

By the end of the night, Eddie is sure that he's found what he's looking for in Steve, but after so many failures, he's scared to ask if Steve feels the same. They walk hand in hand toward Steve's place, the night coming to a natural end. When they reach his door, Steve stops and asks why Eddie went to quiet.

Eddie admits that he's afraid to let this slip through his finders, that he doesn't want to say goodbye. Steve smiles and tells him he doesn't have to, tells him to take him home.

Eddie lets hope and love bloom in his chest and kisses the back of Steve's hand again, and calls them a ride to his house. They lead against each other, eyes closed, wiped out from their whirlwind day as the city passes them by. When they get in, Steve settles in easily, remarking on the plush-looking couch and vintage-style kitchen.

They don't have sex that night, don't even kiss, they just get settled for bed and curl up into each other. Eddie cracks the window to let in a breeze, and they drift off easily with smiles on their faces.

I so desperately need to see more folks write abt the inherent dynamic of how Cygate is like. a very much mutual, back-and-forth protective relationship. They protect /eachother/ and I think that thats such an important part of it all. Tailgate gets dumbed down a lot but he’s soooo far from stupid or plainly naive, his naivety comes from his optimistic attitude and lack of experience with more extreme situations. But he’s so fucking smart, and hes a stubborn lil’ shit, and he’s gathered every bit of how Cyclonus works and keeps it all in mind for whenever something happens and the guy /needs/ someone who /gets/ him to step in.

The “See, that wasn’t so difficult.” line speaks soooo many words. He’s so fucking patient man, if there’s one thing he has oodles of experience with it’s the passage of time having to be spent for a Good Outcome. That’s sorta what the whole arc of that development was about, showing what /he/ is willing to do. They are equal in what they give and take. They’re anchors for eachother and I NEED more of that it’s like my favorite thing to see in art and writing of them. They’re going to make me so ill i genuinely teared up writing this wtf

Man “Battle Nexus: New York” was a great episode but I do have one major gripe with it.

Like. Raph being paired up with Ghostbear? Makes sense. Works great. Works amazing, even.

Mikey being paired up with Meatsweats? Yeah that checks out!!

Donnie getting…Hypno…? I mean. I guess Donnie doesn’t like magic so it kindaaa works but Kendra would have been a much better choice to me personally. Maybe Big Mama didn’t wanna include a human or something…

And Leo getting…uh…one of the Sando Brothers???? Of all villains? Nah let’s be real, his main villain is more Big Mama herself (or Leo could be considered his own worst enemy lmao-). There's a lot about Twilight's injury arc that makes me wanna cry but every time I read through it Legend is what gets me

Because Legend took his hat off out of respect when going into Twilight's room while he was injured

I don't I ever have or ever will read a "salty and traumatised and not-nice but still good" character as well written as Legend. Because he's mean and snarky and grumpy- and almost always at least one of his eyebrows is down. Twilight even saw him as a bully at first. (Ref. comic 'bully' in Lu archive)

But this is a warrior who will take off his hat for another who got hurt. Legend shows love in almost invisible ways, and his heart is guarded enough to have spikes. But if he's going to see someone who's injured he shows respect and care.

And he showed his care in other ways too- he has so much love for Twilight to show this much past his guarded heart

Legend is always wearing his hat- it is literally something he puts on just as much as his shoes or tunic.

He shows so much love for Twilight through his injury. And him pulling off/putting on his hat is just one small way that was shown.

Thinking about the twot S3 finale and suian's fate like... I do actually think this is the way to go. Spoilers below for the books and potential impacts on the show

Suian's death here sets up a lot of things far more solidly than her dying at the end of the novels for a bunch of reasons not least that here, she goes out with a bang, on her feet, making a point, and largely driving home what it means to be not only Aes Sedai, but Amyrlin. Both of which are important for the girls in their upcoming arcs. But it also:

1) sets Elaida up as much more formidable character in her own right. In the books, a lot of her time was spent bumbling around and being a bad Amyrlin almost by accident (yes yes, Alviarin was there and Elaida had an ego so inflated she couldn't see the ground but in general her decisions felt made in a vacuum with no apparent impact on HER - Rand's box notwithstanding). She is pulling the strings here, she is being undeniably mean spirited and bending rules to get her way, she is a Threat here far more than I ever felt she was in the books (even with the box bit that never made me hate Elaida, only the women she sent). It is now genuinely worrying what might happen to Egwene in future and other sisters caught in the immediate fall out. It also makes a lot more sense why the Tower would split like it does. In the books Elaida followed the law much more closely and wasn't quite as uh... I hesitate to say unhinged but that is kinda how it feels. Obviously sisters aren't going to feel safe, obviously some will leave. (Sidebar: interesting that they stilled Suian and then asked for the truth when stilling breaks the oaths but whatever.)

2) gives Leane a bit more to do, just as an aside. We haven't seen Sheriam in a while, I can see Leane taking on some of her role and also Suian's going forward.

3) gives Moiraine a reason to lose the plot. We saw her relationship with Rand change throughout this season where he came to trust her more. He asked her to be by his side through all this shit and everything! But he is about to see what loving and losing does to someone, this is the Perfect segue into his 'I Must Be Hard As Iron' arc where he pushes everyone away. Moiraine chose duty over love and it's killing her. You can't have both, can't DO both love and duty. Rand will learn from this. Moiraine's grief will have consequences.

4) it gives Moiraine something of an out. She knows she's going to die and she's been trying to figure out what to do about it. Now, she will embrace it. Not in this life, apparently, but definitely in the next. Bring it on. (Ties into the above: if she can escape her death shouldn't she try to be there for Rand longer? vs Dying sooner reunites her with Suian. Yikes the internal dilemma!)

5) it gives Egwene more room to stand on her own. A lot of her arc with the rebel Aes Sedai was built upon her relationship with Suian: she was the Amyrlin Suian taught her to be. I am sad we won't get any of that dynamic, I did thoroughly enjoy how they politicked their way to getting what they wanted, but without Suian, Egwene will get to become her own Amyrlin. And perhaps bring a little more Aiel to the table. Plus she can still have that dynamic with Leane, Light willing. (Nynaeve can still heal Leane also, presumably, assuming nothing awful happens to Leane before she can. Kinda hope they allow Nynaeve to fully restore her channelling since they seem to be smudging the line between saidin/saidar and their weird af opposing limitations.)

6) and I cannot stress this enough: her arc with Gareth Bryne was a crime and I'm glad we don't have to see any of it. I doubted we'd see it as soon as she and Moiraine were in a confirmed relationship, but now we don't even have to see any part of her weird indenture servitude arc and praise be for that.

Maybe it's just me loving the first love= love of your life/ one and only tropes but it's very sad when I read people commenting that characters in their 20s not having prior relationship experience is a bad writing choice or unrealistic. As someone very demisexual/romantic who has never dated anyone‚ it can be very discouraging. I'm not even against getting into a relationship but some people just work differently‚ it's harder for them to fall in love with someone or just want to wait for the right one. It's not unrealistic. It's not being a weirdo.

I'm not saying there's something wrong with second loves or past relationships I'm just saying not having them at a certain age is ok.
