Starsky & Hutch LB 1x10: Lady Blue

Angry huffy Hutch is very cute, his poor car.

"I enjoy bein' Zebra 3, I don't think I could sleep at night if they took that away from us." Also Starsky is being very gentle with poor disgruntled Hutch, I love it. He doesn't understand why Hutch loves his hunk of junk, but he gets what it's like to be really attached to his vehicle!

"There's a 187, that's a dead body." lol sassy!

This cop in uniform is really shaken, and I love that H checks in on how he's doing

"Hey, you okay?" Starsky's voice is so gentle and sweet, and then H reaching out to put a hand on S as he delivers the news

Hand hold happening out of frame... awwww.

Also H just keeps bringing S liquids to drink, he's fussing. :(

S is staying so spooky calm and almost gentle, making the case for why Dobey shouldn't boot him off. But also... Dobey... my dude, you are such a pushover, Starsky should not work this case.

IMMEDIATELY after Starsky says it's gonna be a professional investigation, they force their way through a door with violence without having a warrant. Fun stuff.

S is so blank and rattled by all of this. "He loved her, didn't he?" / "Yeah." Hutch's voice when he says that... it's so soft and tender. This is a rough one!

H's method of cheering S up is to lightly insult him but in like the most gentle, affectionate voice I've ever heard in my life

Also apparently the Paul Muni bit was based on a real joke that David & Paul had on set, that's very cute. I love the little relieved laugh from H.

Scene with Polly is a little rough but S&H treat him with kindness and respect to his face which is nice

I like how when Dobey calls, H peels off to deal with that and leaves S to do the questioning, without needing to discuss who will do what

Oh shit!! Genuinely wasn't expecting the twist that Helen was undercover!

Huggy weighing in on the situation, on the side of vengeance... don't put ideas in S's head, dude!

Also, an interesting moment where we see H putting away a full meal while S just has a coffee. That's a sign things are not as they should be.

Fifth Avenue is a bad-ass and kinda hilarious. He's helping them because his pride as a classy thief is insulted by these lesser folk

I'm surprised they drugged Cindy and didn't just kill her, but maybe this means they're not the murderers?

This park walk.... S confiding in H about Helen... "then we'd take a walk in the park, pack a picnic, sit under a tree in the grass, watch the kids." And S&H are literally taking a walk in the park.

I had to pause the ep to talk about this - S saying that he and Helen used to talk about having kids, and then says "that surprise you?" And H puts his hand on Starsky's arm and says "no". There is sooooo much going on here omg. H is being so gentle and supportive and also he is affirming for Starsky that he sees him, the vulnerable parts of him, that the idea of him as a husband and a father is not at all ridiculous to him. Man, Hutch gets a good best friend award for this episode, he's being so good to Starsky

"Your Spanish stinks. Over"

I'm always very emotional about when one of them calls the other "Partner" as short-hand for a declaration of general support. H to S: "Come on partner, time to let go" is the same as him saying "you have me, I'm not going anywhere." Again H is speaking to S with the gentlest, tenderest tone all episode, it's a lot

S answering Dobey's phone lol why

Another sign of how in sync S&H are - they have the brainwave about the radio thing and both immediately hop on the phone with Dobey being like "huh?" because he can't read their special partner brain connection lol

Really wish the language about mental illness was different on this show but like I know it's the 70s it's not like I'm surprised. I just flinch when our hero says "psycho" like that

S sitting backward in a chair my precious weirdo!

S&H raising their heads in unison in incredulity at this psychiatrist

"How did you get this job? I wouldn't let you fix a sewing machine"

"He's a victim too... he's all screwed up!" I gotta say, I'm really moved by S having this perspective, like, this guy killed Helen and he's saying it's not his fault

S gets angry--rightfully-- at this guy, and H instead of calming him down also starts screaming at him too, they are both SO fed up here.

"You're a robot." I mean this is a somewhat clumsy message but I like how H puts it, that the test is supposed to be a tool in the hands of a professional, and not just a rote thing where if you get a certain number you get a certain diagnosis. It feels similar to how today sometimes people will just list a couple of common symptoms that they have and then diagnose themselves/their loved ones with something where it's like... I mean, it's a good general guideline and maybe a first step but they analysis shouldn't stop there, you know?

I feel like it's so important for S's character that he makes that promise to Dobey at the beginning that he's gonna keep his cool on this investigation, and despite the typical examples of police misconduct that these assholes always get up to, he keeps that promise and doesn't want revenge or anything

S tried to help him, he really did, this is honestly sad.

"Hey Starsk, you see that sunset?" - romantic...

"What are the candles for, you expecting someone?"

HE MADE STARSKY'S FAVORITE? THOSE SMILES ON BOTH OF THEM!! SOMEONE CALL ME AN AMBULANCE

"Called your mother up" - UM EXCUSE ME. What! "Eat your vegetables" I'm SCREAMING.

Dear lord that ending knocked me sideways what the fuck is this romantic candlelit dinner nonsense! You've gotta be kidding me!

So, general thoughts... this show has a violence against women thing, and it also has a "crazy people killer" thing, and both of those things are combined together in this episode in a big way which isn't the best. But I thought the plot was constructed really well with some interesting twists and turns, and I was really moved by their resistance to Starsky having vengeance on the brain in any sort of toxic or over the top way. He wanted to find whoever did this to Helen, but when he knew it was someone mentally ill, he genuinely actually wanted to help them however he could.

This marks, I believe, the second time we have a love interest for either S or H who we've never heard of before and will probably never really talk about again, but for whom one of the guys evidently felt quite strongly. Hutch's girlfriend in "The Fix" felt kind of anomalous and strange, but here, I really liked the way Helen was talked about as an element of Starsky's life. Sure, she's definitionally fridged - we never get to meet her, she's there for Starsky's man pain, but I'm not gonna have much fun watching this show if I get caught up in stuff like that.

I like what her presence in Starsky's life, the fact of them being serious, says about Starsky as a character, and also about his friendship with Hutch - the fact that this was a fellow cop, someone they met together, someone Hutch also knew and liked, just kinda gives me warm fuzzies? I fully believe, and I think the rest of this show is going to bear this out for me, that neither of them could ever get to a real, true love, let's settle down, phase with a woman, unless that woman was also pals with the other guy. Like, if Starsky and Helen had stayed together and gotten married, Helen would have been in Hutch's life forever too, you know? And there were little moments in this episode that really cemented that. Having Hutch be the one to see her body and break the news to Starsky, having Hutch answer Cindy when asked if Starsky loved her - Hutch knows how it was, because Hutch was there!

This episode is also continuing the trend of having a plot that is ostensibly about Starsky or Hutch being in love with a woman, but is in fact a REALLY strong case for why these two are soulmates actually. That scene in the park, the tenderness, the way Starsky is describing an activity he used to do with his serious girlfriend (walking in the park) while literally doing that same activity with Hutch, the way their arms keep brushing together... oof.

And just throughout, Hutch is the best most supportive friend in the world, really turning up in Starsky's time of need. I like that he doesn't treat Starsky like he's incompetent, he doesn't fuss over him in any type of over-the-top way, he just... constantly and gently makes his presence felt. He teases Starsky kind of the way he always would, just with a bit more tenderness to the words, and he gauges how Starsky is doing by Starsky's ability to respond to the ribbing and keep their gentle joking going.

And that scene at the end? Gahhhh. For one thing, Hutch has Starsky's mother's phone number and calls her on the phone sometimes? That's very very sweet. He makes Starsky's favorite meal, he lights candles, he points out the sunset, he says a kind word in remembrance of Helen... all of this on its own would be enough for me to love the scene. What I can't get over, however, is the decision to INTENTIONALLY call out the romantic framing. The candle lighting could have been an unspoken thing that we fans all gushed about. But no. Starsky calls it out. "What are the candles for, you expecting someone?" Because Starsky sees the candles as a thing Hutch would do for a date. And then H makes a joke about eating early, and S shoots back immediately "what time am I leaving?" But it's clearly, 100%, a joke that they're both in on. That one bit of dialogue exchange makes this whole ending scene exponentially more gay. Hutch was doing a romance for Starsky. Starsky noticed it, and he called it out, and then they sat and had dinner and wine together.

This show is gonna kill me dead.

I think the time schedules would be a mess. She works 9-5 and he 'works' 9pm-5am. Since she gets all her work done, no one can say a word and honestly no one would dare to either way. Relstionship is about compromise and I think jason will cut down his vigilante time to get home to his stressed worker bee.

Jason prolly cant sleep without her so while she is at her job, he is working out or doing his other stuff. They catch up on sleep after her shift . This means afternoon cuddles !!( Ofc I am firm believer that jason should with time leave crime fighting and become an English professor )

I also love how most of her coworkers thinks she is prolly dating a Submissive type of guy or like a really serious professional dude cause she is so scary and strict . The Last Temptation of Jerry review babeee, let's gooo!

This ep. wasn't advertised as usual by adult swim yt channel, and that was sus, so I was expecting some spectacular stuff or something absolutely crazy, funny and a little silly: it was the second case💀 As usual, I'll sum up my impressions into 3 points, my take in general, the episodes themes I noticed, the sus/interesting details. Enjoy and please share your thoughts or even a little Morty yellow heart, so I can feel more motivated to do other R&M posts �� (put on your dark mode ((like, who doesn't have dark mode on??)) to better read my gay, colorful writings ✨).

Okay there be SPOILERS my dudes, beware!

_________My take (I'm part of the R&M cult, so, impartiality)________

First things second: I'm really liking Jerry's arc. While in the first seasons he was really the depiction of a covert/vulnerable narcissists and he used to totally creep me out, he is slowly becoming a much humane and sweet version of a Jerry. His love for cooking, holidays and his family are really heart warming and he really proves how much he cares with actions over words. This Jerry really is more caring and, surprisingly, he takes accountability over his own actions.

This scene was so sweet 💛He recognizes he's scaring his wife and messing up with the family time he wanted so much: he's not defensive or out of control, he’s honest with his feelings and admits he doesn’t know what to do, he needs help. There is open communication here, and that's a healthy basis to make him and Beth work together through this problem as a real couple, maybe for the first time in the show.

He also immediately takes home the Easter bunny after the car accident, trying to help, and he really feels empathy for the creature, even if he vomits on them multiple times (a Jerry's still a Jerry). This is a huge parallelism with what happened with previous Jerry in s2 ep 1, a Rickle in Time, where Jerry hits a deer and promptly proposes to leave it there without providing first aid for the poor baby. Even the location is the same! But this time the scene takes place in the middle of the night.

Morty being a silly little guy is really something interesting to see: just like the Blips&Chitz episode aftermath, Morty is never the sharpest knife in the drawer after messing up with his brain: even if something changed in his attitude towards Rick and he seems to be more independent, something’s off with him, he is more superficial and he kinda…regresses? Rick trying not to lose his shit with Morty through the entire episode omg 💀💀

you can tell he’s very immature not to say he’s... a bit stupid 💀 which is great bcs A: is becoming increasingly obvious that he needs to accept reality and stop messing up with his brain B: from a narrative point, is a good way to differentiate Morty from Evil Morty/Arcade Morty, to highlight that the first is still a silly kid while the seconds are grown ass adults.

And now the part I liked the most, bcs I totally fell for it:

If "we're so screwed." was an image 💀

Okay, I know Rick got shot in the head multiple times through the seasons, but you really never know with this f*cking show 💀 I got worried, okay??

And then it got worse...

And WORSE...

At this point I was like "Okay, this is it, we're Cronenberging again. Actually, this is even worst of Cronenberg, great."

This ep. really played with us the whole time: when the situation escalated, I really took that bait sooo hard.

And then the unexpected happened: Jerry finally became one of my new fav characters:

After 7 seasons of me absolutely being unable to stand Jerry, this time I eventually started to like him. That's a wonderful redemption arc, that's a good way to develop a character, that's real change. He doesn't try his best just because he wants to look good, he takes responsibility because he genuinely feels he has to, he wants to. And even if he is just a naked human with no powers or high tech at all, he burst into action and his help is fundamental to fix the entire catastrophic situation. This family is really starting to work together, to fix things together.

This ending was the cherry on top of the icing on the cake:

Not only the entire family is now spending time together through different holidays during the year, but they're doing it purposefully: what matters now is them sharing quality time at their own terms, not some bs that society wants them to do. They really get the message through and through: it's not just abt abolishing holidays, they chose to act instead of following some empty, festive, traditional stuff. They actually recycle instead of just taking part in the Earth day for one day, they actually eat pizza together instead of preparing traditional meals that non one needs, they spend time as they want, when they want, refusing the capitalistic, empty holidays propaganda. I love this topic choice bcs I feel like this is one of our generation "great dilemmas": how do we keep alive holidays in our hearts, when all holidays are based on unjust, bloody historical events, religious dogmas or marketing strategies? In most cases, we grew up in houses with a lot of empty traditionalism from the old generations, we learnt to love the magical festive air, but we are aware enough, we have enough modern critical sense to know that what we had during childhood was, in most cases, just shallow, duty-nonsense, pushed by marketing/politics. So we had to re invent our holidays, to adjust our "quality family-time" entire concept, without having anyone to teach us how to do that. We tried to prioritize feelings over consumerist stuff, but also keeping decorations bcs they remind us of holidays' magic, making our secular traditions over religious old stuff that maybe isn't fitting with who we are now as young adults...

speaking of which: can we appreciate what an absolute menace Morty was by the end of the episode? love it 💀

Another great parallelism I noticed is the small sustainability reference: in Planetina's episode, I was kind grossed out by how unaware and not caring the entire family was about environmental issues. Beth and Jerry completely ignored the problem/not even bother to differentiate, and this lack of interest was of course transmitted to their children, like it wasn't their problem at all. Morty basically helps Planetina just bcs he has a crush on her, not out of sense of responsibility, he in fact proceeds to totally miss how grave the situation is or what Planetina's motivations could be. Morty seems to still missing the point about climate change now, but it's not the only thing he seems to miss during this ep...

Instead, we see Beth and Jerry recycling even the torn flyers, which is weird for them, and good.

I laughed so much at this bcs I could hear the rickorty fans and proshippers screaming in pain lol 💀💀

These two arguing simply had me dying 💀 The Zaslav reference was also gold (he's Warner Bros CEO 💀)

So in conclusion, this episode was just

pure bliss, I liked the characters evolution, I liked the themes, it was thrilling yet a funny break and quite a relief after the whole Citadel ptsd.

Time for this group. I haven't read much up on them, so it will be interesting to see what they share here and if they will share much, let's dive in.

Okay, this group had some tea, one of the most interesting groups so far to read for in this series.

Taeyong

Weird message here, but I wonder if this dude wonders about the afterlife and explore that, or plays with that idea. I am not sure what that means, but the page of wands with the death card, not sure how else to take that. This could also mean he would want something to end. Maybe the fact that he feels trapped and stuck. I see him wanting to step out in a sense of the bubble he is in.

I can see this dude being highly spiritual or into the esoteric stuff. I can see him being offered these drinks. Now, this woman can be a love interest, that tries to help him out, but these drinks do offer him access to fame and success, how not sure, is she the gateway? Do these drinks have magical things in them or it is some sort of magic to boost his fame, but also it helps to stabilize him.

I can see him getting caught up in some shady shit. To him he may feel he had no choice. He might be starting to see the light, but he is tied up to some things. I just look at the hanged man, and that gives me his hands were tied, but we have the devil card next to it. I just heard, my hands are tied and I had to do it. I mean this could do with things they contractually have to do, behind the scenes.

I asked for more for this Devil card. It does seem he is pretty tied to money and wanting to pursue it, which the devil card could mean as well. There seems to be a constant battle for the top, or he has to compete and knock down his competition, this could be with people, maybe his members within the company. But he is kind of showing me he wants to wipe the slate clean and change things, maybe break this cycle.

Interesting tidbits here. I don't have a clear understanding of what I got here, but I don't know much about these members, so it was hard for me to piece these together. But this was interesting stuff here. Moving on.

Omg, they are really going to give me this spread. Basically, what this spread gives me is this man will sleep with anyone to get what he wants and get ahead, that is all folks, that is the tea. I have the Chariot, which means movement and advancement. Then I have the 2 of wands, which indicate in this type of reading, sex with others, to the knight of wands, which is to me indicates pursuing it. To the 4 of Swords, this is a man naked on a clouded bed, so that also gives me sleeping with others. We finalize with the 4 of cups, this man can be pretty emotionally numb. It is very hard for him to find excitement and joy. He may even sleep with others to try to find that, but to no avail.

There is someone he is after or he is trying to attack or defend himself against. They could have betrayed him. They seem to be at odds. Not sure if this is him or the other person, but they can be a bit of a bully and maybe verbally abusive as well. They can also be pretty shady and sneaky.

I will say he is a strong and powerful man in his own right. It would be hard to bring him down or make him feel small, if someone tries. Unless he is the one bullying others. But he has strong dominant energy, very hard to tame as well. He seems like he wants to do his own thing. I don't see him following rules and falling in line as easily as most idols. This could be due to him growing up in the States, rather than in S.Korea and not having this mindset of following orders and their elders so easily.

I see him making some sort of pact to gain the success he has. This connection has helped him gain exposure and gave him the tools to get to where he is at now. He is contemplating what more to do with his career. What opportunities he can take to open the doors to make more money. It seems he doesn't think he makes much money now, so trying to figure out how to gain more.

I had to ask more about the 2 of cups, got the KOP's, so it was a deal with a man of power, the CEO. This is interesting, I wonder if he had to take these drinks, or they both took them together, maybe this is regular drinks, but I asked for tea, anyway this kind of helped free his mind and relieve stress. It kind of gave him a boost to be more positive and energetic and reduce any stress he may have. It motivates him to keep moving. Like I can hear someone say, take this, all your worries will go away, and they both take it together.

Hmm, is his Mom an entertainer, does she make music? I got the 6 of cups, which is the past, but also passing down something to someone. I asked for clarifiers and got the Empress (Mom energy), the Queen of Wands (someone creative) and the knight of swords (communication). So, he may have been pushed by his Mom to do this, like she passed down the baton. I want to know who his Mom is. Interesting. You know how parents like to live vicariously through their children, like if they couldn't succeed, they will push their child, it gives me that vibe.

Hmm, I feel like a lot of opportunities he may want he gets rejected from it. There could be a lot he wants to do but faces disappointment a lot. I think he would like it to have more solo work and build his own money. It is like his hands are tied and he just accepts for now that he can't get much work. It is like he sees others get many opportunities, but it doesn't roll out to him, so he gets upset about that. It is like he has to learn to be satisfied and content with what he has. I can see him indulging in things for a need to escape his struggles, whatever that vice may be.

So, I asked why he doesn't get opportunities, well easy, he doesn't give in to this QOW's, as they are supposed to bow down to these older females and males. He is pretty stubborn and hard to crack. From her perspective he can be hard to work with. He can be defensive. He also knows what he wants and the vision he has and doesn't back down on it. He kind of comes off too powerful for her liking and maybe demanding. I also see him less likely to do some weird shady shit too, so that could knock him down a few points for these weirdos that run stuff.

I think they like to keep him small and don't want him to get too bigheaded. I can see a bit of arrogance from his energy, so he can have that, maybe a bit of entitlement, so I can see their point to, but the people in power also don't like the idols to have a voice and speak up either, so I don't blame him for standing up against them. But yeah, to them he isn't the easiest to work with. He doesn't give in as easily.

Jaehyun

Either his Mom helped him get through the door and find success, or he was also someone who slept with an older female to get where he needs to go. Or this woman really likes him and does things to help him succeed. Okay, asked for more clarifiers for the Empress. It seems they are part of the company. He does seem at odds with her at the moment and doesn't want to be around this person.

He seems to be pretty serious about his career. He may feel like he can't trust others and ices people out. He kind of seems distant. He tends to conserve his money and his career. He doesn't really like to take chances and likes to have control of himself and his resources.

I see him not getting involved with the messiness and drama of the industry, the parties, those drinks, he wants no part of it. It is like people in his circle or around him, like to cause problems, or they come to him as trying to be kind, but they are trying to start trouble, and he tries to block them out.

I just see him not trying to get involved with the trickery and foolery within the industry. He may be one of them who doesn't party or take those mysterious concoction of drinks they tend to offer. It is like these people like to surprise them and keep them on their toes. Also, wonder if he got someone pregnant, or people want to get pregnant by him and tried, that is coming up to.

Jungwoo

He seems to be someone who has a lot of motivation and drive. A very passionate person on a mission to achieve something. He seems to be someone who act on impulse and may have a point to prove for some reason. He seems like a strong person mentally and physically to endure anything that comes his way and handle the craziness of the industry.

I say he pours himself into his career and fame. He seems to like it and desire it and loves to be in the spotlight. There is some tactics he does to purify himself, not sure what that means, but getting that from this Star card. He seems driven to expand and grow as an artist. He seems to want to work with overseas artist, or he wants to try new things.

He may be showing me how cutthroat, petty and competitive the industry is, and that people hurt others and break them down a lot. People can betray them even their closest allies. He may feel limited, unable to fully express himself, or feels trapped. And he seems burdened by a lot of responsibility. He tends to try to put his head down and do the work as he is determined to succeed and be famous.

They may also hang out and party together and have fun, but they can also not have your best interest at heart. It is like you can't fully trust the people your around. As everyone has their own back and their own interest. Someone is always willing to knock you down to gain success. So, overall, it is cutthroat and competitive, and he can't truly trust others.

Mark

Oh, this one is going to be hard, not liking the messages here. This dude could be a sex fiend, but also has some attachment to a dude, is he not straight? I question that. He could be into dudes after all. I wasn't sure if this KOC's was him or someone else and got the Devil, 2 of cups and 3 of pentacles, so this is another person. I am not sure this person is a good influence on him. He can be toxic and emotionally manipulative. He seems to work with this person, as I also got the three of pentacles.

I see him being sexually attracted to this person, but I can also see it as him having a plan to go after this person or he is angry at this person. He feels foolish and naive. I think he felt like he made a mistake with this person. Mark has a bit of a careless energy, or can jump into things without thinking, so he may meet the wrong people or get involved with the wrong people. It is like he is showing me he made a mistake and sometimes, I heard think with his dick, going with that, but also, he doesn't think things through before pursuing things.

I see him wanting to step away move on and reflect on the things that transpired. He is kind of over it. And wants to remove himself from the situation. This could be the same person, but I see him wanting to go after or cause havoc on this person, or some person in power. A controlling figure. He may have made him do things that he may not have wanted to do. And this dude is a master manipulator, so he tricked him to do things. But I see him wanting to create problems for this person.

Haechan

Sometimes I do not like the tea I get, this was straight forward, off the bat for me. I get he may have been sexually assaulted. I was getting a stronger word, but wasn't comfortable saying it, but another word for sexually assaulted that is used.

He seemed to be able to build his money and career on his own and stand on his own. But I am getting at what price did he have to get all that he has and the success he was able to create on his own. He kind of reflects on what he has and what it took to get it.

He seems devastated by what has happened to him. He seems guarded, defensive and jaded by the industry. He seems pretty worn and beat down from it all. I feel this QOW's could be him, or the person who may have assaulted him, but feels more like him. I see him shining in his own right, getting attention. But there is drama behind the scenes and a lot of competition as well, and aggression. It is like sometimes he foolishly steps into it.

Or he is like unaware of the drama and fighting around him. He seems carefree and nonchalant about things. He does seem to keep to himself and keep things in control. I am not sure he gets involved with the fighting and drama. He is very reserved and conservative with his time and space. He seems closed off. He kind of keeps to himself. He seems to hold on to his career and money very tightly.

I see him feeling regretful and shame. I see him wanting to speak up or fight back, but I do see timidness and hesitancy with him to do so. But also, this unwillingness to address what has happened. Or maybe share what has happened in the past. It is like he doesn't want to think about it too much.

Okay, this was very interesting. They didn't hold back, and it was pretty easy to get information from them. Kind of excited to see what the Dream members share and if they will be as forthcoming.

I took that at the time to mean they still had no idea that Sijing is the spy and thought he was somewhere safe with her... but could it mean that they do know/suspect and they maybe sent Bai Jiu after her, knowing she would spot him and (trusting she wouldn't actually hurt or kill him - which is a big risk tbh?) would have to stay and guard him, thus keeping Bai Jiu away from the fight *and* taking Sijing out of the fight?

once upon a time I thought "let's watch" videos were stupid. why would I watch someone else watching a show I like

now I love them lol it's like rewatching your fave show with a friend who hasn't seen it before, who's REALLY into it and excited about it and laughs and gets emotional in all the right places

but yeah the first one youtube recommended was them watching Shot in the Dark and at one point dude on the left, after one of the times Adora blushes (which they rewound to watch again lol), he's like, "they are totally getting together" lololol

they do very much ship it before that and comment on them a LOT, I also watched White Out and it was fun to see them talk about how possessive Catra was being, and ahaha the scene where Adora yells her name and they start fighting, they comment on it: "oh there they go running off by themselves again!" It's so great when people pick up on that stuff

NUZI NATION STAND TF UP WE WONNNNN

they’re DATING 😭😭 LIKE THEY’RE BF AND GF THEY ARE ROMANTICALLY INVOLVED IM GOING TO BE SICK I LOVE THEM SO BADDD

they had sooo sooo many adorable, heartwarming moments during this ep i felt like i was going to explodeee.

but that’s not the only thing that had me on the verge of combusting-

FREAKIN V LIVED LETS HECKIN GOOOOO

i KNEW she didn’t die last ep there was no WAYYYY. plus it’s funny to see all the fanart of her taming the sentinel being true in the show lmaooo

ALSO HER AND J’S YURI FIGHT WAS SOOOO GOOD. LIKE?? A REMIX OF ETERNAL DREAM PLAYING WHEN V SHOWED WHATTTT. but this fight wasn’t just visually but the reveal that j was knowingly working with/for cyn was something that i didnt see coming but also don’t completely hate honestly!

i saw a lottttt of people (more specifically j/jessa fans, no shade just saying what i saw🧍‍♀️) who were upset with j’s betrayal and the way she was portrayed, and while i get not liking how she was written, i personally don’t think that this was that out of left field for her?? like?? while i was shocked i was like “i mean, yeah, makes sense.”

AND I COULDN’T POST THIS WITHOUT TALKING ABOUT THE STAR OF THIS EP

guysssss!!!! cyn/flesha was literally at her best in this ep imo!! she was so expressive and silly and genuinely creepy and scary at times like omg?? every time she was on screen i was soooo hooked dude.

AND THE TEAM UZI VS TEAM CYN FIGHT OH MY GOSHHHHHHH.

my friend and i genuinely started tweaking out dude it was so amazing and animated so well 😭 from the nightcore in the bg to the choreo to the general energy of it I JUST RAHHHHH.

the general consensus i've seen regarding this episode is that it felt rushed and while i def agree that it could've and probably should have been longer, of the four times i've rewatched it now, i never really got "rushed" vibes, just- idk how to word it really- but when the episode ended, i didn't get the sense of finality. even tho i've watched it a few times now, it still feels like there's supposed to be more?? esp after the after-credits scene LIKE WDYM THE SOLVER'S PERMINENTLY PART OF UZI NOW??

ALL N ALL, i really loved the ep, i think it was pretty good! there was stuff i def wish were written/handled differently (LIKE THE WAY DOLL'S STORY WRAPPED UP) but i enjoyed it regardless.

'in the wee small hours' YOU WILL ALWAYS BE FAMOUS and always be my roman empire!!! it's such an incredible episode that really brings the relationship between bobby and alex to a head and into sharp focus after 4+ seasons of incredibly fucking co-dependent mi media naranja better half soulmate type shit. it shows us there is a rocky past there, that actually their relationship was hard won and the loyalty and closeness that they have now is only there because they worked at it and the level of DEDICATION and LOYALTY from alex is so fucking off the charts oh my god it's WILD that they wrote that into the episode where she had to GO ON THE STAND AND TELL THE WORLD HOW MUCH SHE RESPECTS AND ADMIRES AND CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT BOBBY FUCKING GOREN.

the turmoil she experienced when she was forced into revealing she had requested a different partner early on!! and she had to read her own fucking words about his ERRATIC and ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOR and BIZARRE INTERROGATION TECHNIQUES all of which now are the things she loves about him and his brilliant detective work. the way her voice TREMBLES and she trips over herself to try to explain!! and the little looks she keeps throwing at bobby to be like I'M SORRY and PLEASE UNDERSTAND and he just looks at her like

like he expected something like this, like he's not surprised, because he's bobby goren and everybody feels that way about him, and even the best partner and best friend in the world isn't immune to him (because he hates himself like all the time so yeah of course. of course she felt that way. OF COURSE.) but then how she explains her mind changed and how she was used to a certain type of detective but he's DIFFERENT because he UNDERSTANDS PEOPLE and he's an ~~~**~*acquired taste~*~~**~~** literally my favorite thing alex ever says about bobby!!! so much is said there. he takes time. he takes consideration. you have to WANT to like him. and she DID, she ACQUIRED THAT TASTE.

and then we get this little scene where bobby admits he IS an acquired taste. as you so aptly put it what the fuck?? LMAOOO. he absolutely knows how he is and that most people can't handle it. but i love how he throws it back to alex because as much as alex admires bobby he fucking worships the ground she walks on? he's like "a partner... that's smart as fuck.. and tolerates me.. bobby??? i shall put her in my pocket and treasure her forever. [except those times i can't help but be the world's biggest asshole to her asjkdlsfds]" i love when he tells her he's lucky she withdrew her request for a new partner.

these two are so fucking emotionally repressed and this is one of the only times we see them genuinely talk about their FEELINGS for each other in any type of way and this is SO HUGE FOR THEM.

YES THE COFFE MAKING SCENE. like i said he is emotionally repressed and does NOT know how to discuss or articulate his feelings what so fucking ever so his love language is 10000% acts of service and he's always doing that shit for alex like wtf. look at the way he WRENCHES the stuff out of this dude's hands because BOBBY must make alex's coffee. this absolute rube would fuck it up. only bobby can do it. and then pouring an insane amount of sugar lmao he knows eames' sweet tooth is WILD and he indulges her. and throughout this whole scene he barely looks at the dude he's having a conversation with, he is SO INVESTED in making this coffee, and then he just TURNS TO STARE AT ALEX WHILE HE STIRS IT????? LIKE???????

and since we're talking coffee lemme just GO OFF ON A TANGENT about this scene from 'silver lining' when bobby gently wakes alex up during a stakeout by wafting coffee under her nose what the FUCK is this SOFT LOVING GENTLE SHIT OH MY GOD. you know he made that coffee too. because as we've established. ONLY BOBBY MAKES GOOD COFFEE FOR ALEX. and then of course she wakes up and asks if it's her turn and he's like oh it's 5am we're about to pack it in IMPLICATING HE LET HER SLEEP RATHER THAN TRADE OFF SHIFTS. BRAVO! BRAVO! This was an amazing episode! I was already in a great mood seeing that we were getting a Luigi episode but the Team really went above and beyond on this one, especially the writing. We got to see some development for Luigi too. I really did love Mario being a supportive and loving brother. As the oldest sibling, this has my stamp of approval! (No, I'm not crying, what are you talking about?) Then, just the little nods here and there with callbacks and references, I really appreciate that.

Now, let's not forget the animation, voice acting, and editing! Great job, Team, as always. You guys manage to surprise me every time. And whoever put the cornered theme, I owe you everything 💙

Overall, 1000/10, highly recommended! I do hope they continue on this streak of well-written episodes. (I wouldn't mind another funny/wholesome episode.) Give yourself a pat on the back, Team, every one of you did amazing!
