Part 1

Mac🖥

●They figured something was off when you changed all your passwords to be more secure, but they'd been wanting you to have more secure passwords anyway, so they don't worry too much

●Then your family shows up, and Mac puts two and two together

●Unfortunately, you barely get any time together since you have to be "social" with your family and "can't lock yourself in your office the whole visit"

●They miss you so much😭 Mac is so used to seeing you every day, even if it's not through the dateviaters, so I do not see you at all for more than a day is kinda torture for them

●Not a fan of how nosey your family is. Mac is glad you changed your passwords since you had a couple of family members try to look through them (godda protect that shameful fanfic)

●They got a brief visit from you, and my goodness, they were so excited. Even if it's just ten minutes

●Even though they don't see much of you, they notice you've been looking pretty drained and try their best to comfort you

●When your family finally leaves, Mac treats you to a playlist they made of cat videos and anything else they think would make you happy

●They have you sit on their lap as they wrap their arms around your waist. If you need to decompress, you can sit in silence. If you need to rant, they're happy to listen

●Legit, they almost want you to sleep in your office. They missed you so much, but Mac knows you need a good night's rest and the office isn't exactly the best place for that

●My guy is working overtime. With so many people in the house, he barely has time to rest, let alone sing

●But the worst part is that he can't see much of you anymore. Sure, he sees you when you take a shower, but other than that, nothing

●One of your cousins keeps hogging the bathroom and using all the hot water (sorry, Winnifred), and he has to deal with Amir complaining about all the steam

●He normally looks forward to your showers, but now he's even more excited. He's giving you the most relaxing shower he can, wanting to help with your stress as best he can

●They are NOT happy. Your family is definitely shady but not in a good way. They're just rude

●Your aunt insists the curtains are old and out of style and tries to replace them multiple times.

●Okay, now they're panicking. Curt & Rod are hyper vigilent around her now, wanting you to stay close. They worry for a couple of reasons. One, your aunt is actively trying to get rid of them, and two, what if she ends up convincing you she's right? You wouldn't replace them... would you?

●You may not be able to talk much while your family if here, but they make sure to be extra charming. You can tell something is off even when they insist they're fine but decide you can have a deeper conversation after your family leaves

●They are RUTHLESS with your family, throwing shade at every opportunity (so basically all day)

●Then it happens. Your aunt brings home new "better" curtains, telling you that you can put them all up together. And the worst part? They're gorgeous, both as objects but in dateable form. Curt & Rod are just about ready to pack their metaphorical bags until you absolutely lose it. You get in a screaming match with your aunt(who leaves not to long after that)

●After the rest of your family leaves, they want to immediately wrap you up in their arms, but you're so drained you go straight to bed Betty

●The next morning, they're all over you. Hugging, kissing, and generally being uncharacteristically clingy (not that you mind)

●The three of you have a long and much needed talk. They were terrified you'd replace them, especially when your aunt actually brought new curtains. You reassure them that you'd never do that and that you love and cherish them

●You spend the rest of the day in eachothers arms as they tell you about all the cringe stuff your family did when they thought nobody was looking

●He clocks pretty quickly that you're not having a good time. Your family is nosey and has absolutely no boundaries, and you're stuck taking care of everyone

●Unfortunately, being a candelabra, he can only do so much. So he decides to go full Maggie mode and watch everyone like a hawk, gathering every bit of scandal he can

●What's this? Your married aunt is on Tinder?Your cousin is smoking weed in the bathroom? He knows all of their secrets now. His plan was to tell you sooner so you could hold it over their heads, but you never actually get the chance to talk to him

●Unacceptable! He misses his lover and their lips. And now your family is actually starting to annoy him. I mean, your aunt has been rearranging furniture all day and decided he was best off on the hallway able. Now, he can barely see any delicious scandals!

2nd person pov

You waited nervously at the park, your knee was bouncing, your bad habit of biting your nails has returned since the whole ordeal. What if he didn't show up? Before you could overthink anymore, you hear a familiar voice coming from behind you,

“You know your hand is full of bacteria right?” you hear the voice say. You turn around to see jihoon. You did a double take making sure it was actually him. “Thought i wouldn't show up?” he asks sitting next to you.

“Would it be bad if I say yes..” you say, avoiding eye contact with him. “yn you wound me” he sulks, reminding you of every time soonyoung sulked when he broke a bass string. A wave of cringe washes over you making you jokingly shiver to jihoon’s confusion.

There was an awkward silence.. You didn't actually think it would get this far and you forgot to actually prepare something to say. “So..” jihoon says breaking the silence. “Fuck i’m so bad at confrontation” you sigh. “jihoon.. I’m so sorry for everything” you start, your hands were shaky as you spoke. “I- i know nothing I say right now can change how much I hurt you but i’m really sorry” 

Your eyes finally leave the floor to look at jihoon. His facial expression was his thinking one. The one you saw while he was mixing. When he couldn’t decide whether to add reverb or autotune, the same face he made when you guys were at the convenience store and he needed to decide between ramen or udon. 

“I just.. I don’t get it. I accept your apology.. I just don’t get why you basically ghosted me” he says now meeting your gaze to which you look down again. There was a moment of silence. You once again, had no idea what to say. “yn.” jihoon says, breaking the silence. “You were the one who asked to meet to clear things up, yet I feel like i’m the only one actually sharing how I feel” he says, starting to get a bit frustrated. 

“seonghwa told me-” you say but jihoon cut you off. “I know what seonghwa told you, but I have a feeling he’s not the one who made you avoidant when it comes to other people.” 

He was reading you like a book.. It was really scary. “You really want to know?” you say quietly. “Only if you really want to let me in” jihoon says. “I care about you yn but this relationship whether it’s platonic or romantic can’t work if you don’t communicate with me too” he says. You meet his eyes, “how much time do you have to listen?” you joke getting a slight chuckle out of him. “I’ve got all day” he says, getting comfortable on the park bench.

“your place?” you say just as he settled into the bench. “God yes please.. My back hurts” he says as you laugh. The two of you get to the apartment luckily all his roommates were out doing their own things. The two of you settle on his bed before you let out sigh. “My band right? We started in college.” you start..

(flashback)

you weren’t always an avoidant person.. in fact it was quite the opposite

it was the second semester of your senior year. god tired wasn't even the right word. You were absolutely exhausted, so ready to graduate already. But before you could even think of walking down that stage, you had one more thing to accomplish.

It was the thing everyone in your major dreaded the most, your senior project. What was this project you may be asking? A mini concert for your entire graduating class. You were in charge of the songs as well as the structure and some production of it. 

you scheduled to perform your project in two weeks, your band luckily agreed to be your backup band in the performance. big events like this always stressed you out, you got more snippy with your band, you didn't mean to it just ended up happening. you'd get frustrated usually argue with someone you’d blow off the steam and come back like normal.

you would run rehearsals like a maniac, yelling if anyone dared play a wrong note, stopped in the middle of a song or got lost in the piece. Your band got used to your outbursts. They knew you were stressed, you were just lucky they were so understanding.  

but throughout the whole thing, your boyfriend riwoo had your back. the two of you met first day in your production class, he was sweet, nervously asking if he could sit next to you in class on the first day. the two of you clicked instantly, if you weren't hanging out, you were texting and when you weren't in class, you were in one another's rooms.

you were so excited about your project, excitedly yapping his ear off about it and he always seemed just as excited to hear it or so you thought. the day of your concert you were so nervous. You bit your nails as you stood in the green room.

What if you forgot a song or your guitar string snapped? your bandmates came in five minutes later with their gear. “has anyone seen riwoo?” you ask, still pacing back and forth. A chorus of “no, sorry” echoed throughout the room. I’m sure he’ll be here soon!“ seokmin reassures you.

you go out into the hallway to call him, instead being led right to voice mail. you pace again, surely he had to be coming back soon. you hear some commotion down the hall. you turn the corner.. and you see it. riwoo making out with another girl in the hallway. you wanted to yell at him but right when you opened your mouth he started to speak first.

"isn't your girlfriends thing today?" the girl asks. riwoo shrugs taking a crumpled piece of paper out of his pocket which you realized was your concert's poster. "i was never actually going to show up" he says, sounding almost offended she asked. you just stood there, your throat suddenly felt dry all the water you chugged felt useless.

you walked back to the green room, your bandmates looking in confusion. "where's riwoo?" soonyoung asked. "he's not coming" you say simply, picking up your guitar and retuning it. "we're on in ten" you say looking for the producer on your set, a senior you had befriended named hongjoong. (tehe).

mingyu could sense something was up, pulling you aside right before you went on. "are you okay?" he asks, genuinely concerned. you nod but he didn't buy it. "what happened with riwoo?" he says, looking right at you. "he's busy" you reply not wanting to talk about him anymore. "we have to go on stage" you say opening the curtain.

the four of you step onto stage as you thank everyone for coming. you swallow all your emotions before you start your set. everything goes relatively fine. sure you're heartbroken but at least it helps you show your real emotions for all your sad songs.

as you're about halfway through your set, you fucking see him. riwoo sneaks into the back with the girl from the hallway. you couldn't believe it, you freeze on the spot, your guitar would have dropped if you didn't have a strap. your bandmates look in confusion. you feel tears threaten to prick your eyes.

you run off the stage nearly tripping over your guitar cord. mingyu was the first to follow you off followed by seokmin and soonyoung running at the same time back to the green room. "yn!?" you hear them call behind you. you couldn't believe he had the nerve to show up. let alone with that girl.

"riwoo.. he was fucking cheating on me" you sob, curled into a ball on the floor. seokmin and soonyoung did what they could to console me while mingyu just stood there. before you knew it, he was out of the room. "mingyu where are you going" you ask. "to go take care of something" he replies throwing his jacket on the couch. "don't do anything stupid" you say through sniffles. "if it's for you then who cares if i do" he says before leaving the room.

the three of you sit in silence. seokmin had grabbed you a water, soonyoung had an arm wrapped around you. mingyu had returned, you could tell he got into a fight. his fist was bruised up and he looked pissed. "mingyu.. you didn't have done that." you sigh. "you're right. I needed to do it" he says, rubbing his fist attempting to soothe the purple bruise.

luckily, your counselor allowed you to redo your concert and you passed with flying colors. as for riwoo.. he had a bruise on his cheek for months. the only thing you didn't understand was why you didn't yell at riwoo yourself.

you used to be someone people didn't want to work with because of how outspoken you were. and suddenly you were a shell of yourself.

a cough from jihoon brings you back and suddenly you're not in the green room of your college, but back in jihoon's room. "i'm sorry you went through that" he says. "you didn't do anything you don't have to apologize jihoon" you say, your eyes never leaving the floor.

"i really like you jihoon.. and it's not like i'm saying you're going to cheat on me. i just don't want to disappoint you and go all avoidant on you." you admit. "i don't care" he shoots back which finally makes you look up. "what?"

"if that was your only worry then we can work on that." he reassures. "really?" you ask, genuinely surprised. "only if you also want to" jihoon says.

before you knew it, you leaned over the bed and kissed jihoon. it was spur of the moment, you barely had a second to think. your eyes widen when you realized what you did. "i'm so sorry I shouldn't have done that." you panic getting off the bed.

"yn it's fine" he reassures. "no.. it's not" you say getting up. "i have to go" you grab your bag and run out of the apartment. "yn!" jihoon yells running out without any time to put on his shoes but losing you since you ran down the stairs. he goes back to the apartment, texting mingyu to make sure you were okay.

he sits on his bed his feelings conflicted once again. it seemed like every time the two of you were one step closer to getting together, you got back to square one. he decided to sleep it off genuinely not knowing what else to do.

you get back to your apartment. your eyes red from crying. you didn't want to hurt jihoon and if running away helped that you would never stop running. a text from seonghwa snapped you out of it as you remembered your gig tomorrow. you try to get some sleep knowing you'd need it.

"i'm sorry jihoon" you whisper to yourself before passing out.

✒︎ artstudent!jinx brings giant tubs of white acrylic paint (you know those run out so fast in art classes), and gets incredibly irritable if anyone tries to use it. like fake going-in to bite your arm if you reach for it. or, second defence: hissing at you

✒︎ artstudent!jinx, who, at some point gave up on washing her hair the day before her scheduled art classes, because some amount of acrylic paint WILL get stuck in it

i think the fandom needs to learn how to treat serious things sensitively rather than making it some uwu cutesy thing that “i can put my angsty little blorbo man into!”

i see this a lot with the stripper darry stuff specifically—not really a sensitive subject but i think people treat it more like “oh he’s just a silly wittle guy and it’s so goofy that he has to sell his body for food!” like do you see how fucked up that sounds? while yes, technically, it’s just a job and an unfortunate way people make money, it’s not really funny when you look at why he would have to do that. he’s a twenty year old kid who goes between roofing houses (which is already physically taxing) and supposedly, stripping and selling his body just so he can make sure he and his newly orphaned brothers have a warm place to stay and food in their stomachs. it’s really not some cutesy silly thing like people treat it to be, especially when you put it like that. it’s worse when people write borderline trauma porn with him, especially in a fandom that’s mostly made up of minors but that’s a rant for another day (and i guess you can argue tagging it as such but still). i’m pretty sure the stripper darry thing was a joke anyway but whatever.

another one i see this with is the vietnam sodapop headcanon. maybe im biased because i hate that headcanon and his birthday was never called in the draft and the only way he could’ve fought was if he enlisted himself, and i can’t see him dropping his job and his life to stop supporting his family just so he can go and fight, but so few people treat it with dignity. it was a damn war from christs sake. people romanticise it so much with “but there’s so much angst potential!” like veterans both during the war and after it were notoriously treated horribly. they weren’t really seen as heroes by many because america had lost the war. i hate making such a comparison but there were even songs made about it like listen to the born in the usa album by bruce springsteen, there’s plenty about it. it just feels so gross to see people woobifying literal war in order to make extreme angst. dying in war isn’t funny or cute. being in war isn’t funny or cute. it gets to a point where yall are just being insensitive assholes about actual war vets.

same thing with abuse, like it’s borderline cringy in fanfics to read stuff about the gang being all “baby…talk to me…” or whatever. first off they’re teenage boys, and i don’t think most teenage boys really know what to say/do in emotional situations and secondly, it’s just a fact of life that johnny and steve get treated like shit at home. the gang wouldn’t really do anything about it aside from patch them up and offer food/shelter and in two’s case, tell at johnny’s abuser, but they’re not gonna force them to talk about it. johnny and steve are probably very uncomfortable talking about their abuse and such which is understandable, but the gang isn’t gonna try and force it out of them. maybe they would if it was really really bad but other than that i doubt they really want to push either of them on it. it’s just a fact of life.

the last thing is things like mental health and addiction. i don’t think people realize how tough addiction is, and babying pony’s addiction to painkillers is genuinely horrific. like addiction is extremely serious and not to get personal but it runs in my family, and i’ve seen how people with addictions act sometimes. it’s not cute and it’s certainly not funny. same thing with two bits dependence with alcohol. it’s extremely sad, and it’s more sad when you realize these things weren’t readily dealt with back then. mental health too, like fandom in general tends to make serious things like suicidal ideation and self harm out to be cute little hurt/comfirt, angst time things. i get people use it to vent—i’ve done the same thing. but can we treat it sensitively rather than just be like “oh it’s another silly scenario!”. it’s not funny and i’d never wish it upon my worst enemy.

i’ll admit that i’ve had my screw ups and have treated sensitive things insensitively in the past in favor of angst. i have no problem admitting that, but i’ve stopped doing that. it gets to a point where people water down serious things because “he’s just a silly little guy who i want to torture 🥺” like sure, hardcore angst may not be my cup of tea, but if you like it then whatever. but please don’t treat real things like abuse and mental health and sexual harassment/abuse and selling one’s body and literal war like “cutesy things that are so silly and goofy!” they’re not. i’m not saying you can’t have fun or shouldn’t write about these things, but you should treat it sensitively. stop woobifying serious things in favor of angst.

SIX and the Life Series??

So while listening to my shuffled playlist, one of the songs from SIX the musical came up and it got me wondering. We're currently in the 7th life series so this won't be relevant for long, but just taking the current winners, if the Watchers are Henry the 8th, which Life Series winner is which of his six wives (based on the musical, not actual history)? Right now I have them sorted as follows: ‎ ‎1) Scott for Catherine of Aragon - endless patience but also incredible stubbornness. Also part of the divorce quartet so it makes sense (would have put Grian here because he's the first winner but the vibes didn't match) ‎ ‎2) Grian for Anne Boleyn - mischievous, spiteful and also the most famous of the six wives. The vibes suit Grian well I think ‎ ‎3) Scar for Jane Seymour - Watchers' favourite. ‎ ‎4) Pearl for Anna of Cleves - you cannot tell me "Get Down" isn't a Pearl song. Also part of the divorce quartet ‎ ‎5) Joel for Catherine Howard - this one doesn't fit quite as well as I'd like but I can just hear Joel saying "I think we can all agree I'm the ten amongst these threes" so that's what I'm going with ‎ ‎6) Martyn as Catherine Parr - again, doesn't fit as well as I'd like but the vibes are acceptable. "I don't need your love" feels like a Martyn song imo. ‎ ‎So those are my thoughts on the matter. What do you guys think?

Okay, this is where we get kinda lore heavy because we start talking about the ways my stories intersect with each other within their universes. (This is gonna be kinda long and rambly). Annie is the distant ancestor of Lucas and Pierre. She has a very strong disliking of Lucas based off journals she inherited of Pierres detailing his tragedy at Lucas' hands. She likes to pretend he doesn't exist and they aren't related.

Emma and Stephan have watched a couple videos from Annie's yandere centered blog about how she cares for her child. They think that it's nice she's putting resources out there to help people in similar situations.

Lucas... A lot of people know him and a lot of people hate him. He's a couple of kingdoms over from the royal family seen in stable hand. Adrianna and Fergus, the king and queen, are skeptical of his rationality and sanity and barely correspond with him at all.

Roxanne is similar. Her kingdom doesn't want anything to do with Lucas and they're far away enough that they don't need to interact with him. They do interact with Adrianna and Fergus due to trade and have a good relationship with them.

Andre's story kinda takes place in the middle of the timeline. His story is based in the 1800s so he's kinda alone there. He is distantly related to Stephan, but it's like a cousin three times removed and 200 years back type thing.

Willa and Atticus, despite living in the modern world, don't really interact with anyone. They just want to enjoy their lives with their new child in their little house in the middle of nowhere. They do, however, live pretty close to the town where Sheriff Hayes is, but they've never interacted.

The Hartshorn Family and Artemis know of each other, considering they're both shady people running similar businesses in neighboring towns. The consensus between them is basically 'don't mess with my territory and I won't mess with yours'. Seeing as the Hartshorns are already dealing with fighting the L/Ns, they really don't need another enemy so the deal works.

Selene and Griffin have briefly bumped into Roxanne on one of her espionage missions but nothing came of it. Like Willa and Atticus, they kinda like living in their own secluded world. They do live in the kingdom from Stable Hand, but the very rural outskirts so they've never dealt with the royal family.

Sheriff Hayes is very distantly descended from Andre as well, making him and Stephan very distant relatives. He's never met him though as he spends almost all his time doing his job or looking after reader.

Milo actually knows Annie because he helped her once when he was still a fireman and she had a small gas leak at her home. He thought she seemed genuinely nice for someone who spends so much time projecting a persona in front of a camera.

When it comes to Three of Hearts and D4RK3Y3... everyone knows them or has at least heard of them. It's like someone not knowing who Taylor Swift is, even if you don't like or listen to her music, you've likely still heard of her. As for opinions? It's a mixed bag. Most of my yanderes are too busy to really be listening to music but Emma likes some of D4RK3Y3's songs and Annie's a Three of Hearts fan.

Okay so here's a PSA about A.I music that basically just boils down to we need to be more discerning about what we're listening to. If you don't feel like reading all this, just take that message and go.

I'm gonna talk about three instances where I encountered A.I music and hopefully this will help out people and they'll know what to look for. I think a lot of people have heard of that one fake band on Spotify but not every liar is gonna get blasted on your local tumblr.

My first encounter with A.I music should have been more obvious simply because I could tell they were using generated art work in the video. So there's a protip right there. If they're willing to cut corners in one area, it's probably being used for the rest too.

This channel styles itself like they find rare vintage songs from off the beaten path and upload them. I listened, thinking some were pretty catchy. But when I tried to find the artists and more songs by them, nothing. Not too unexpected for "rare vintage" but there had to be some record somewhere. And yet I couldn't find anything. So I look into the channel. The description starts with "Waking up at the crack of noon to cook up hilarious tunes."

Huh, so they produce all these tracks? No. They don't. They're quite literally cooking them up.

OH Tangent because I just remembered I fell victim to this specific brand not once but TWICE because as I was looking for the article that confirmed my suspicions I realized it was a completely different channel

Here is a link to the article. It's an interview with the person behind this channel, who is an actual artist and does the cover art, lyrics, and instrumentation but doesn't see an issue in using A.I. generated voices to do the singing. Make it make sense.

Anyway, this section is just to say if you like a song you should WANT to look up the artist and find more and if there's suspiciously little, well there's your first clue. Hard Archive is also just over a year old, which also tipped me off. Obscurest Vinyl is older, but they're not even trying to hide the fact that they use generated music.

The next section is music I did not even suspect to be A.I. until a video pointed it out to me. Here is the link to that video. In essence, anytime you see a video with a title like "cute music to vibe to" it doesn't hurt at all to actually look at the tracks and see where they come from. If an artist isn't listed, your next step should be to check out the channel. After all, musicians post their stuff to youtube everyday. But if one channel is pumping out hours long mixes quickly, there's probably something afoot. Don't get caught up thinking you just want something in the background. As tiring as it can sound, we really gotta be vigilant.

The last instance is something that cut me deeply because it happened to one of my favorite genres - citypop.

I innocently clicked the video because it's been a minute since I listened to a citypop mix and they've NEVER let me down before. But as I'm listening to the first track, I take a look at the cover art and realize it's got that strange blur effect that some A.I pictures have. And then I really listen to the song (keep in mind I only know English) but there's definitely something off about the song that I can't quite pinpoint. So I look at the chapters to see what the song is. There's song titles, but not a single artist listed. And when I go to the channel

"Yeah I'll take a Japanese lady standing in front of a Mazdayota"

Yall......there's literally endless songs in citypop. There's endless beautiful cover art in citypop. This one really cut me deep because how lazy and uninspired. And it's going to keep happening. As an aside, the anime Carole & Tuesday came out in 2019 and is set the distant future where most music is made by A.I. and it's a novelty when not and yall... I don't wanna live in that future.

So please, be mindful of what you're giving attention to. Even if it's something in the background because views are power. Don't let youtube or spotify or whoever just put something on and you let it play. Find out who it is and if they're real. I was fooled so many times before learning this lesson and now I'm passing the knowledge to you.

If I'm hearing it right the Different Beast motif is a melodic reprise of Survive o o it's set to a lower key and is simplified/altered a little but it's basically the same melody

Here lemme prove it with some timestamps-- if you need help visualizing it, listen to the trombone (? tuba?) in Different Beast and sing "six hundred lives at stake" along with it. You'll have to start at the second note of the Different Beast motif, but you're gonna see it I think hopefully. It's especially obvious when the Different Beast motif is brought up in 600 Strike

Anyway I wound up picking up on this because I was in the weird situation where I listened to Troy and Cyclops saga last (before you come at me for that, I do know the story of the Odyssey from OSP's summary), so when I heard Survive's chorus I was like ":OOO WAIT THAT'S THE MOTIF DIFFERENT BEAST IS REPRISING"
