Trying to figure out who everyone is and what everyone looks like always feels a little…
BUT the end goal here is to eventually be able to produce some sort of comic book, which means getting to know the stories/cast well enough to figure out how I’d feel most comfortable depicting them. So this’ll be a fun little journey into the unknown for us all.

This weekend I have started the rather ambitious project of tatting this yoke from the Priscilla Yoke Book(1916) from the antique pattern library. I'm probably going to change the pattern a bit for my purposes, we'll see how long it takes me to get this somewhere I'm happy with!

I'm moving and was going through my books today and found the Book of Mormon script book I bought in like 2016 so I could illustrate Kevin Price's coffee monologue and opened it up to the Spooky Mormon Hell Dream section and this line has no right to be so funny

guy very into musical theatre who mistakingly thinks they're connecting with me over a shared interest: yeah, weber is foundational and all, but i've always felt more of a connection with what starkid's got going on, y'know?
me, who's only ever listened to tracks from the musical episode of Psych: uhhhhhhhhh... hello my name is shawn spencer? this is my partner, lil' wayne? the evidence is underwhelming? but my intuition is insane?
#to be clear i am in fact a muscian and have a greater-than-basic understanding of the genre and the artform#in fact half the reason i'm so obsessed with the psych musical is bc of all the ways it utilizes the actual genre tropes of musicals#to make itself an effective and genuine article of the medium#but outside of the theory uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sorry i know nothing i am but a wee babe#honestly the orchestration of the tracks is what i keep finding myself impressed by#it's so varied and diverse both in harmonic structure/progression and actual instrumentation#one thing i especially love is how the piece where shawn spells out the crime combines a ton of motifs from earlier tracks#into one unified piece of music#which directly mirrors how these breakdowns narratively combine all the facts the audience has been shown throughout the episode#psych#psych the musical#running my mouth

I’m happy for the little life I built for myself
#there’s a lot of ways to go#i am nowhere NEAR the dream life I really want to attain#or the dream person I want to be#but high school me#hell even freshman in college me#would GAWK at the life I have so deliberately made happen.#the solid network of friends I have#the confidence I’m slowly but surely growing into#the discipline I’m harvesting bit by bit. i do not claim perfection but I am 100% improving#I’m just happy idk! i don’t compare myself at all now bc I know I’m on the right track#especially compared to where I was like 5 years ago. such a different mind state from now#and no one can take that away from me#there’s a lot more to go. a lot more. but I thought I’d pause and be intentionally grateful for what has been accomplished#bc it actually puts things into perspective to look at the past rather than just look to the present. it creates contentment#i get so caught up being hard on myself for not accomplishing certain things yet#that I forget I pulled myself out of such a deep rut by the skin of my teeth#and that’s important to keep in mind even as you progress to your goals#anyway <333 happy content in my own lane etc etc#p
