thinking about. doing a "fill a sketchbook in a month" challenge
#and making a video about it. maybe#idk!!! i love doodling traditionally and it might be a fun challenge that helps me find confidence in my art again or something#i have this sketchbook lying around that i have yet to fill. its 130 pages (front and back)#so if i fill 4 pages a day i can finish it in a month. if i stick with it of course#i will think about it. when october comes around i will start. maybe#i also wanted to do a drawing challenge for october anyways like Kinktober or something#maybe i can still do that in my sketchbook.....much to ponder#life with seag

I hope all new fiber artists know that the "slightly misshapen" object they made that they're stressed about not looking good:
1. Happens to every fiber artist always, you're too zoomed in to its every detail because you're the one who made it and most people would think it looks normal, or at least much less misshapen than you do, stand 20ft away from it and look at it and then see how you feel (true about all art tbh)
2. Gets better and more uniform each time you do anything
and the *very most important*:
3. Can be made Significantly Less Misshapen by just grabbing the fabric and stretching it in a few directions
I keep helping new fiber artists who are like "but my thing looks so bad :(((" by like, taking their object and stretching it sideways and horizontal, and handing it back, and they're like "????? Magic?????" bc it looks perfect.
Trust the process. Trust the stretchy process

dude. my life fucking rules. feathered velociraptor shleich figurine for $2 at the op shop. captain of one of my favourite ferries complimented my shirt TWICE (and we are now introduced!). new friend waved me over to sit next to her in a lecture. found a way to make my pony collection even more enjoyable. sky was so beautiful it was a crazy pale blue and there were cirrus clouds catching the sun. the ocean looked like molten green glass. I'm going swimming in the sea and having lunch with a few friends in a weeks time. I've earned 500 dollars this week just from my art which is a milestone I didn't expect to hit without joining a company. I'm not feeling as fatigued as usual. it rained in the morning which was really lovely. I thought I was going to be super late for uni but I made it right on time. I'm kind of in love with the world today
#listen to my gibberish boy#all of these are small things. some of them you have to consciously notice e.g. the sky. the sea. the rain#one of them is just 'not being late'. but my god. everything together amounts for so much#maybe silly but noting down all the good things that happen to me during the day has been absolutely incredible for my mental health#I'm so serious. its a big reason I went from crying every day to crying maybe once a month. you NEED to look for the tiny good.#the tiny good is always there. even if your life is miserable. maybe the water you drank was refreshing. maybe you talked to a friend#maybe you had a nice dream. or watched a funny video.#everything good that happens to you. notice it. think about it when it happens. it's crazy how big of a difference it can make sometimes#so much of misery or happiness is perception. if you tell yourself 'today was a horrible day so much went wrong' then in your mind#it will become a horrible day forever. not to say you can't have bad days#I have bad days fairly often! it's just that I try not to give the shit things too much attention#like ALSO today. my fever kept going. I had a stomach ache. I had to catch up on 3 hours of lectures. I tripped on my way through uni.#but if I dwell on those things they'll become a permanent part of my memory of today. you sometimes have the choice to remember or forget#certain things. try it for a few weeks [: it might make a difference

physics is great, the physicists say things like "for the first fourteen point two bajillionoths of a second the universe was made entirely of bananas. and then the fruit field collapsed and for the next twelve nanoblinks there were only electrons and apricots" and i just go "that's great, tell me more" and yet despite the temptation to do so i don't think they're even trolling me, i think the thing about the fruit field might actually be true. or have been true for fourteen gigaquadillionths of a second after the big bang. aren't we lucky that happened or we'd all just be made of bananas? what a strange universe we inhabit.
#i love skience it's so weird sometimes#i am watching a youtube video about the higgs potential#the scientist is trying to make it understandable to laymen but i have no fucking clue whether any of this is true it just seems cool.#there's these tiny bisons that make things have mass and they wear tiny mexican hats on their little particle heads.#but also they're not particles they're a field and this is true of all the other things that we know like electrons and quarks and odos.#but maybe not neutrinos as there is a chance those are all left-handed which would mean they don't talk to the hat bisons at all.#this is fantastic stuff i love it. they should add new particles every few decades just to keep us all on our toes.
