SOOOO lorelei ! has the mourn watch background which. ofc because emm is a mourn watcher also and the in game interactions are sooooo good. anyways. lorelei's background is p much the same as the in game "you were found in a tomb as an infant" situation because honestly. im obsessed with that.

anyways lorelei grows up into! kind of a weird adult who finds a lot of comfort in & around death because. yk their whole life they were surrounded by death bc they were taken in by a mourn watch couple. & they find the idea that oh, one day the Horrors will cease and we will all be at peace :) because um. lorelei has some issues that i will not go into Right Now but just know. this guy is dealing with some thoughts and experiences (which are in part just like. gestures at the state of the dragon age universe. things are always happening here and lorelei is always thinking about that)

the necropolis & nevarra city are very much like . The Only Home Lorelei Has Ever Known btw so they are kind of. alarmed when suddenly they are basically told "hey umm. the way you handled the situation with the whole war of the banners thing was not ideal you were impulsive and controversial and we need you to be Elsewhere while things cool down". because like, theyre being told they need to leave their home and their family and their work/education because of that. which is frustrating honestly kind of devastating. but thats how they end up w varric bc they have no where else to go

and then like? two years later they go back Finally because they need a fade expert and ofc <3 thats emm! and lorelei is sooo weird about being back its so. Uncomfortable because theyve been gone all this time after being essentially forced out & its weird seeing all these familiar faces who lorelei kind of. feels like are judging them because of what they did so theyre just kind of trying to avoid everything. recruit emm get Out. and i think emm kind of notices this and takes note SO i like to think thats why he makes this effort to get lorelei to go to the memorial gardens w him and do the rituals bc like. its his way of kind of welcoming lorelei home and making them feel welcome which of course makes lorelei like. Oh. Oh No. because its soooo sweet and he cares sm and they are just. They Really Like Him.

anyway. their relationship mostly progresses the way it does in game except lorelei is Way more um. awkward and weird and anxious bc they are an awkward and weird and anxious person. they dont know how to act on their feelings or express them .

unrelated to anything ive talked about but i think these two have the potential to make each other Infinitely Better or Infinitely Worse.... mortal emm x lorelei is like, they are making each other better and helping each other face their fears and lich emm x lorelei is truly they love each other but they r indulging the worst in each other because of their own fears and insecurities . its the bad end for them def but im also. so fascinated by it. im studying them

DESCENDANTS.

aside from jane now being the same age as the core four, she is fully canon up until the coronation

due to lack of control over her magic, one of the guards was accidentally killed by jane at the coronation when she grabbed the wand

this results in jane being placed in therapy to work through what happened

when the barrier around the isle of the lost fractured, it allowed for the horned king to establish a telepathic link with which he could communicate with jane

unlike fairy godmother, he encouraged jane to explore her newfound power and willingly answered any questions she had for him

it was all too easy for him to begin leading her down a darker path towards evil

DESCENDANTS TWO.

as part of her therapy mentioned in the d1 divergence, jane was given a chance to hold the wand while under supervision. a sort of exposure therapy.

coached on how to do so by her father, jane cast a spell to swap the wand with a fake and erase all memory from those who had witnessed it of her ever doing so

the wand was her birthright, after all. or so her father had told her.

with the wand in her possession, jane casts a makeover spell on herself, altering everything she perceived about herself to be wrong or ugly

** please note that this is not at all a commentary on brenna d’amico. i love her and think she is stunning! this is more a take on jane’s clear body dysmorphia.

i do not ship jarlos for portrayal of the character, so nothing to do with their romantic relationship will be canon here.

jane is not a member of the decorating committee, but she is a cheerleader

she was made head cheerleader in audrey’s place, and claims that she’s merely holding the spot until her dear friend returns

when evie, jay, carlos, and ben go to the isle to bring mal back to auradon, jane sneaks into the limo’s trunk in order to get onto the isle

while over there she finds and meets with her father face to face for the first time. this only strengthens their bond, and solidifies jane’s decision to join him and turn her back on the heroes. her own mother included

it isn’t until after the fight with uma’s crew that she sneaks back to auradon

not super important, but at this point jane has shed the baby blue and pink bows for something more in line with her father’s aesthetic

think black, maroon, fake fur (because real fur is evil even for a villain), far less frills

she shows up to cotillion without a date and essentially uses the event to debut her new style

she allows people to assume it’s a phase because that’s easier than admitting the truth

DESCENDANTS THREE.

vk day divergence (same as my mal’s)

vk day is a weekly thing, taking place on fridays (announcement after school with pickups on saturday morning) to provide the new vk transfers a weekend to settle in and tour the area surrounding auradon prep. the vk day seen in the film is just the first one to take place. the purpose of the application is more so to provide information on a specific individual, rather than determine who gets chosen over other applicants.

reasoning for only selecting a small group, with plans to expand the selection number as the program continues on, was to not overwhelm the teachers of auradon prep and provide the vk students the attention they would need in that first week.

jane is the one who puts the idea of visiting the museum in audrey’s head, expressing that it’s one of her favorite spots to go and think in times of high stress or when she’s upset

this is all a ploy to get audrey to maleficent’s scepter, which jane had cursed to corrupt the other into taking down auradon for her

because why should she get her hands dirty when audrey presented her with the perfect fall guy?

it’s jane’s voice that calls out and lures audrey into claiming the scepter for herself

jane assists the others as a way of avoiding any suspicion of possible involvement. she may have looked bad, but it was key that she still played it out like she was good

that all in mind, she never actually makes the call to fairy godmother to get her wand

spelling ben into a mini beast was not at all a part of jane’s plan

but she did love it

hated that she had to undo it with the lake water to keep her cover

evil jane 10000% flirts back with harry

this girl has eyes after all

the minute fairy godmother turns back from stone, panic sets in

barrier drop divergence taken from my mal

the barrier is not brought down entirely, but instead replaced by a new spell to allow all children and select parents (based on a measure of how they’ve changed and statements from their children) to travel back and forth from auradon to the isle. villains who chose to use their time on the isle to be abusive and stay bitter remain on the isle, which is updated and cleaned up to better promote reformation and rehabilitation. villains that possess magic and have been granted auradon access have their powers bound for a probationary period, directly linked to their crimes and character statements from their children and/or those they interacted with commonly on the isle. trials become a thing, as does parole. villains still on the isle are regularly checked on to see if they’ve made the changes to grant them any level of freedom to auradon. a process that is overseen by a board of members made up of both aks and vks.

the day after the new spell is placed on the isle, jane flees across the bridge in order to hide and bide her time until she can come up with a new plan

she fails to do so, and is caught a few days later and found guilty for cursing audrey and trying to use her to destroy auradon

the key pieces of evidence were audrey remembering whose voice called out to her and jane telling her to visit the museum, security footage of jane in the scepter exhibit early that day, and the discovery that fairy godmother’s wand had been replaced by a fake a year prior

jane is imprisoned on the isle of the lost for two years

during this time she would finish her education via a private tutor and graduate, grow even closer to her father, and grow to resent her mother that much more

there are simply so many OCs, so this is going to have to go under the cut. this isn't even all of them, since most of my OCs are some form of queer.

let's start off with the lesbians

Keelie (she/her) is a mender, with a tendency to fall for women who can't reciprocate due to Circumstances. (including some of my other characters who haven't made it into this post.)

Idowu (she/her) is an Awakened pirate-vampire, with a tumultuous relationship with an Amnoon councillor. I hadn't thought about her sexuality in specifics until this post, but she can join the grand tradition of lesbian vampires.

next, the non-binary characters.

these two actually know each other! ... in a slightly painful way

Culhwch (they/them) is a Vigil soldier and mesmer. they had a rough time during the assault on Mordremoth (but not as bad as some), but remained part of the Vigil, and later was part of Dragon's End. bumps into Mal again somewhen after this. often full of guilt and self-doubt.

Mal or Mallaidh (they/them), is an ex-Vigil soldier. they were controlled by Mordremoth in the first attack, which is probably where they lost their arm (it might have been Culhwch, for angst). after that, they couldn't stand the feeling of other sylvari in their head, and became a Soundless hermit, living on tinkering jobs. they pulled strings to go to Cantha, where they fell in with my Jade Brotherhood twins and started playing with jade tech.

non-binary isn't strictly accurate here, but neither is any other label. these two are Flame Legion, who both began passing as male for their own reasons. their genders are... complicated. but neither is entirely giving up masculinity despite the lessened prejudice in New Flame. they have equally complicated relationships with each other.

Lux Pyrefaith (he/him) is a zealot, sort of a Joan of Arc type who rationalises his presentation as a calling. The legionnaire of the Faith warband, he didn't join Efram's splinter faction initially, only reuniting with Aelius after the Destroyers attacked the Citadel.

Aelius/Aelia Faithclash (he/she) is less of a zealot, more practical. Lux's former second-in-command. On friendly terms with Efram, and did join him when he left - this caused the Faith warband to split down the middle. Was invited to Efram's warband but never officially joined. Hesitantly exploring some level of femininity - needs to hear the word 'bigender', probably.

they lead nicely into some trans-mascs. perhaps a disproportionate number, out of self-indulgence.

two courtiers first - diversity win!

Idris (he/him), a Nightmare Court executioner and (aspiring) lich. dreamt of Riannoc's death and became devoted to necromancy. invested in the court for his own survival, not ideologically. probably ace, but has a weird thing with another courtier named Esyllt which isn't not sexual. might have transed his gender using a combination of necromancy and mender magic.

(undecided name), aka the Knight of Arrogance (he/him). a fighter in duels, tournaments, and hunts. both a sadist and a masochist. primarily a ranger, but uses mesmer magic to adopt animalistic features or forms, or to force opponents into them. also has a weird thing* with Esyllt, as well as with a member of Nightmare nobility named Llinos.

* let's be real, all courtier relationships are "weird things"

two (comparatively) better people!

Ahn Seong-Jin (he/they) is an alchemist with the Jade Brotherhood - one of the twins who Mal got involved with. mostly deals in inadvisable science and necromancy, but has probably also synthesised some form of Fantasy Testosterone. might have been at Gyala Delve.

Ilja Northtongue (he/him), another character who passed as a man for other reasons initially, but has self-awareness now. a norn historian and linguist, he has travelled into the far north many times to search for buried history, where passing as a man was the only thing stopping him from being instantly attacked by the Sons.

that's not nearly everyone, largely because most of my OCs are bi/ace/both by default, but it's the ones i've given most thought to.

Blood-Wraith and Rose nodded as he sipped his tea. “Eustorgio got pretty reclusive near the end of the Epoch. As you probably deduced by now, for some reason he had this paranoia that he would lose everything if he reincarnated. We tried to tell him that wouldn’t happen, but he didn’t listen. This led to many arguments between him and Leif, with Tiberius often getting involved. These got so heated that I had to take Mal off on adventures while they blew off steam.”

“Oh dear, that’s not good,” Rose commented. “I presume Mal is a primordial deemed stable enough to persist, correct?”

“Indeed… well, in the Unlight at least. I don’t know about the rest of the Cosmos proper.”

“I see. When we’re done, I’ll go speak to Englehart and the council about finding her so she can live with us.”

Vexation raised his cup to that. “Fine with me. Her room in the tower should still be intact. Anyways, things continued to go downhill until Eustorgio had the brilliant idea to turn himself into a lich, The Lich of Old to be precise. Leif was appalled as he viewed that as irreverence. Tiberius was offended when Eustorgio tried to insinuate that his foolishness was comparable to reincarnation. He even called him stupid to his face. I tried to tell Eustorgio that’s not how that worked and offered to create a curse that would return all of his knowledge to him in due time. You can guess how that turned out…”

Blood-Wraith sighed. “So what was Leif’s mentality behind his reaction? I got hints of it back when he was with us, but that was it.”

“Simple: He viewed Eustorgio as a coward who was throwing his potential away. Leif also knew it would lead to nothing but trouble. Eustorgio was still The Mage of Old at the end of the day, no matter how many times he tried to delude himself.”

“A clash of egos” Rose concluded. “Except, we clearly know who was in the right.”

“Yeah…” Vexation had a tinge of regret in his voice. “In hindsight, I probably should have just cast that curse. Sadly it’s history now. Truth be told, I’m kind of surprised how easily Leif forgave him at Aqua World…”

“HOLD UP” Blood-Wraith interrupted again. “You were there too?”

“Yup. Tiberius always hated it when I used curses to hide myself, ha.”

Blood-Wraith gave an exasperated exhale that was more like a groan. “Continue…”

“If I had to guess, Leif probably couldn’t stay mad at him given that he was going out of his way to fix things.”

“The idea that The Lich wasn’t using his full power, but could have is terrifying…”

Vexation paused. “Blood, is all of that still bothering you?” The Boy nodded. “Oh. Well that’s no good…”

“Perhaps you, Deimos, and Tiberius could sit down with Blood and talk?” Rose suggested.

“Yeah, good idea. Blood?”

Blood-Wraith had averted his gaze, but returned his focus to the conversation. “Sure. So what happened between you and The Lich?”

Vexation got up and went into the other room. “YOU KNEW HE WAS GOING TO ASK THAT! WHY ARE YOU SURPRISED?”

“Uh Vex? I didn’t strike a nerve, did I?”

He sat back down. “No, Blood. It’s just… argh, alright, from the top: It was the tail end of my past life. Everyone was gone, my wife had reincarnated, and I was under so much pressure to get things finished up. The last thing I had to do was add something to the seal I placed on curses. I wanted to make it so that my students could easily get past it. Cue me being in need of help and being stupid enough to ask The Lich for assistance. All I needed was for him to spot me while I worked on the seal. And then he ratted me out to the stinking…” Vexation caught his anger. “Sorry, he ratted me out to the Descendants. No offense, Rose.”

“None taken. Your anger is fully justified” she assured. “I must ask: Why didn’t you present your case to the king? Surely he would have given you the time you needed.”

Vexation rested his head in his hand. “The fact that The Lich used me as a distraction in combination with everything that had happened left me incredibly apathetic.”

“So that’s why training has been so difficult?” Blood-Wraith asked.

“Yeah. Not impossible, just incredibly difficult.”

There was a pause followed by silence. Rose could see that the two were bummed out, so she had an idea. “Alright, let’s head over to my gardens.” She went right to the door, indicating for the two to follow.

“Why though?” Blood-Wraith questioned.

“Some fresh air, silly. You two need it.”

“I suppose that’d be fine,” Vexation replied as he got up. Blood-Wraith followed him.

Rose took the two to her garden and led them to a patch of dirt near the treeline that she needed to get ready for a new batch of flowers. She figured this would help Blood-Wraith and Vexation improve their moods. It was a nice day with a gentle breeze, perfect for a little yard work. The three began moving pots around and digging holes with their trowels. Gardening was fairly mundane, but Blood-Wraith really liked the beautiful flowers his mom had selected. After several hours of planting, the beautiful flowers were all set. The group admired their work with a sense of accomplishment.

“Well done, you two,” Rose complimented. “Pretty good for a pair of beginners.”

Blood-Wraith noticed how dirty his hands were. “Wow. No one said this was a clean job, did they?”

Rose chuckled. “Certainly a messy hobby, but it’s worth it in the end.”

Vexation got down and admired the gorgeous petals of the flowers. “Say Rose, have you considered using magic to grow your flowers?”

“I have, actually. Truthfully I’m a traditionalist, preferring to grow flowers naturally. I will not deny the beautiful gardens I’ve seen dedicated mages create, however.”

“So there’s more than one way to grow a flower…” Blood-Wraith remarked.

“Precisely, dear.” Rose then looked at the great clock mounted above the back door of the mansion. “Goodness, evening is not too far away. Would you two like to stay for dinner?”

Blood-Wraith hesitated. At first he wanted to say no, but then he remembered how good his mom’s cooking was. “Sure, mom. That’d be great.”

After washing up, Blood-Wraith went to the main lounge and turned on the radio. Radovan was never fond of televisions. In regards to Vexation, he had gone off with Rose to help her cook. Blood-Wraith, in the meantime, had found a station doing a talk show where the hosts were discussing Shadowland. It was a little odd for him given the information Andelin had provided him and Englehart. Some time later, the duke returned home and walked by the lounge. He smiled upon seeing Blood-Wraith listening intently.

“The Iron Horn, one of my favorite talk shows for the past 20 years,” Radovan said as he sat down, across from Blood-Wraith. “Took me until adulthood to actually appreciate them.”

“Hey, dad. They just finished talking about Shadowland.”

He chuckled. “Any news from the front lines?”

“Nothing that would surprise me at the moment, ha… Dad? Are you mad at me for how temperamental I was towards you before my duel with Dunja?”

“Of course not, my boy. We all have our moments of frustration. If anything, I was surprised by your tenacity…”

“Yeah, but I screamed at you…”

“True, but you were clearly standing your ground. As a man, sometimes you have to get tough with people in order to achieve what you want.”

Blood-Wraith nodded as one of the talk show hosts said something that mirrored Radovan’s sentiment. “I still feel bad though…”

“There’s nothing wrong with that. That’s self-awareness, something my father was lacking in… Mind you you do need some discipline, but it shows that you have the ability to improve yourself.”

He smiled, feeling better. “I take it Val asked you guys to talk to me?”

“Right before she left in fact. To be fair, we are hurrying to get our business done so we can be there for you.”

“That’s cool.” The two sat there listening to the radio for a bit, with Radovan occasionally commenting on the talk show. Blood-Wraith eventually had a question pop into this head. “Dad? Do you think I have what it takes to be a knight?”

Radovan thought about his answer for a second. “This may seem like a non answer, but I’m going to say it anyway: I think you have the makings of greatness in you. It doesn’t matter if you’re a knight, mage, alchemist, or guildmaster. Not only did you help save the city, you saved the cosmos and reunited multiple families. Foster that spark, Blood. And don’t be afraid if you get burnt occasionally. Accidents will happen…”

“Like how I thought it was a good idea to scream at you?”

Radovan laughed. “Blood, my boy; It’s not if adversity happens, it’s how you respond to it that matters. Always remember that.”

“He’s given the same speech to me, Blood,” a familiar voice said from the doorway.

“Drago! How’s things going?” Radovan greeted.

“Pretty great, dad. Desislav’s doing fantastic with his training. Oh, and mom says dinner is almost done.”

“Excellent” he replied as he got up. “Let’s go, Blood.”

At the dining hall were Desislav, Kresimira, and Corentin. They were all waiting patiently as Rose and Vexation finished up. “Hey, guys,” Blood-Wraith said to everyone.

Each of them said hi back. “It’s going to be a bit quiet with Vlastimir gone,” Corentin pointed out.

“I’m still amazed at who his grandfather is,” Desislav pointed out.

“I’ll second that, given my talks with Zoltan,” Radovan added. “Man’s got grit and a pure heart.”

“Well I think it’s key to note that no one is born evil,” Kresimira stated. “We’re all victims of our upbringing.”

Blood-Wraith took a moment to process that. “Yeah… what even is my upbringing so far?” This warranted some chuckles.

“It’s a little early for that assessment, but we’ll make sure it’s a good one,” Radovan reassured him.

Vexation stepped into the hall. “Well not to throw Eustorgio under the bus, but the bar isn’t set very high…”

Blood-Wraith gave Vexation an amused look. “Come one, Vex. Let’s not drag Uncle Deimos all day.”

He snickered. “I know, I know. Just getting my snark out before the guild is in full swing.”

Rose then pushed some food trolleys into the hall, each full of steaming, hot food that filled the room with pleasing aromas. “Feeling better I trust, Blood?”

“Definitely… aside from my training.”

She giggled. “Well no one said it would be easy. Alright, everyone, food is ready.”

Desislav was the first to get up. “Thank goodness. My training has me hungrier than a starving wolf chasing a wild boar.”

“Can you tell me about it?” Blood-Wraith asked. “The training, I mean.”

“Sure. Me and Drago have been getting pretty lucky, all things considered.”

Corentin shifted in his chair. “Truthfully I’ve considered pursuing ULTRAMagic myself recently. Things have felt a bit dead-ended ever since I finished Maximus and got married.”

“Corentin, don’t do anything dangerous…” Kresimira cautioned.

Blood-Wraith laughed. “Don’t worry, Sister. I’ll make sure he behaves himself.”
