Welp, I officially missed my time zone’s deadline for the one shot for day 5 of sherlolly week that I had planned. But I am working on it and it’s mostly done. So hopefully I’ll end up having it done tomorrow and just posting it a day late.

How many words have you written this year?
44,462, which is spread between two oneshots, the end scene of a Gravity Falls WIP, and my last 4 chapters of Wicked Game
How many works did you publish this year?
2 completed oneshots, plus four chapters of my multi-chaptered fic
What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
Wicked Game. It really is my baby and it’s wild to me how much it has progressed in my head from its original conception to what it is now/ what it is going to be. My planning doc for the fic is MASSIVE (currently 23 pages) and it gets fleshed out even more every few chapters as I figure out new details and come up with new ideas for upcoming scenes. It’s a work that I’ve been semi-consistent about, and intend to be even more consistent about updating. It takes up a lot of my mental room, and it’s rewarding to see how many people love it and look forward to seeing more.
What work of yours has the most hits?
Wicked Game, easily. It has the benefit of being published for nearly 3 years though, and having several chapters.
What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?
Maybe Reflections, or Seeing Double? I don’t know, it always surprises me when people leave comments on smut lol. Not for a bad reason, but I usually expect to see more bookmarks than comments on smut for… various reasons.
Favorite title you used
Seeing Double. It’s still my favorite, well over a year later. I genuinely just find it fun, considering what the fic is about.
If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most?
I’m realizing that most of my fics with song lyric titles are all WIPs lol. Wicked Game is the only one currently published with lyrics being the reason it’s titled that. So, Chris Isaak, though I admit the Ursine Vulpine version was the one I heard first and used as my initial inspiration.
Pairing you wrote the most for this year?
Bowuigi. Easy. I’m well into the 30 thousands for the chapters and fics regarding them, and it may even be close to 40k.
Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?
Brain Dead/ Dead Tired/ Danny Fenton X Tim Drake from the DpxDC crossover
My favorite stages to write are the pining stage and the “basically an old married couple” stage. While Bowuigi is fun being able to establish and build so far, we’re not quite that far along with them. So, with both of my Tim x Danny fics having them be previously established, I had a lot of fun with their interactions.
What work was the quickest to write?
Bewitched. I wrote it roughly in four days, on and off between work and some other things going on. It also felt like it went fast, because a lot of it was the dialogue, and once I got that to flow how I wanted, we were golden.
If we’re talking outside of this year, though, Seeing Double was the quickest work I’ve ever written. I’m about 90% sure I wrote it in an evening. I stayed up LATE to finish and post, but I wrote it within one day.
What work took you the longest to write?
Wicked Game, for obvious reasons that it’s 10 chapters and I’ve been working on it off and on for almost 3 years. I was initially working on it during a very turbulent point in my life, but I’m hoping that with certain things being settled and having a new job with a more defined work life balance (as well as not having a crazy manager), I’ll be able to be more regular about updating.
How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?
I don’t know about getting them all out next year, but I have about 9, if you’re including Wicked Game.
What’s your longest work of the year?
Wicked Game. I wrote about 34k for it this year, and even overall, it’s my largest work.
What’s your shortest work of the year?
Reflections, by less than 200 words.
What WIP are you taking into next year with you?
Obviously Wicked Game is coming with me. I have way too much to cover and a lot of writing to do to not work on it more next year.
Beyond that? Probably One With Eternity, One with You and Slipping Through Your Fingers.
The first is a JayVik epilogue. I know in very broad strokes how Arcane ends and all the major spoilers, but I haven’t sat down and watched it yet because life has gotten in the way. I want to at least fully watch Season 2, and potentially rewatch Season 1 with the new lense, before I write OWEOWY. However, even with what I do know and what I have seen from bits of pieces online and fanworks, this is going to be a DOOZY.
Slipping Through Your Fingers is a BillFord fic, from Gravity Falls. I stumbled across an interesting prompt for something to happen if Ford showed up at the Theraprism as part of Bill’s rehabilitation, and it started chewing on my brain. I’m also battling with myself to keep it relatively short. It’s a fix I will probably only post when I’m done writing it, just because if how some things play out.
What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag?
Considering I’ve written two smut fics for Tim x Danny
Uhhh
PWP and voice kink
…Don’t look at me like that
Your favorite character to write this year?
Bowser. He’s a lot of fun to write for, and once I find his voice, it comes very easily. He’s very funny, in ways he doesn’t necessarily intend.
The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?
Tim Drake. I’m coming from outside of DC comics and got invested through the DPxDC crossover. While I had some previous knowledge on the Batfamily in general, I haven’t ever been entrenched in DC. I’m trying to get more acclimated with the characters in general, and trying to balance various parts of a character I’m not as familiar with was challenging.
I do intend to read more of his comics though, as reading Red Robin was a massive help to giving me a feel for what he’s like outside of fanon. I’ve been advised that a truly great look at Tim is the Young Justice run with him in it, and it’s probably next on the list to read.
What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?
JayVik and BillFord are major ones, of course. JayVik kills me with both the angst of them being at odds at each other and being able to see at multiple points of time where things could have been very, very different, as well as the fact they made each other their fated soulmates. That they are destined to find one another in every universe, every timeline, because of their own actions, interference, and because they’re so connected to one another. Fucks me up in the best way.
BillFord… It can be played in a humorous way, it can be played in a heart-crushing way. There’s a lot of depth and variety to ways you can explore these two. I love the idea of Bill eventually getting his shit together and becoming a better triangle and Ford, against all better judgement, still allowing him close enough to grow on him like a fungus all over again.
However, this is a pairing that has been horribly toxic to Ford as well, and he has every reason to not forgive Bill. He may very well be too traumatized from everything that happened to even consider gwrring close to him again. The best, healthiest ending for Ford is him moving on and living his best life. And Bill gets left behind alone, because he can simply never get over it, because even if he gets his shit together, it’s simply too late in those scenarios. It’s fun to think about and I might explore either path more in the coming year.
Also technically CaitVi and TimeBomb (I am…horribly, horribly tempted to do a rewrite of S2 of Arcane. Still need to watch the season in its entirety, but knowing what I know… There are a lot of things where the pacing was not perfect, characterization was shifted for the plot and narrative, certain things were skipped over, other things were not allowed to settle. There wasn’t much follow-through for other ideas proposed. I need to watch S2, and watch it all again in its entirety, but I already have some thoughts.)
Also saw a very compelling argument for MelVi the other day, and we all know that's how it starts lol
Which work of yours have you reread the most?
Wicked Game lol
I’m trying to maintain consistency and make sure I’m leaving appropriate hints as things develop further. Trying to keep those little tidbits understandable enough you can see it when you look back, but not obvious.
How many kudos in total did you get this year?
2,923. Which is a WILD number to me lol
Which work has the most comments?
Wicked Game, with 381 around the end of the year. This number does include my own responses, but this fic is 10 chapters and I often have people come back every so often when I update. Plus, it’s almost 3 years old. It’s easy to collect comments when you’re multichapter and old lol
Did you do any collaborative works this year?
I did not
I was, however, a bit of a sounding board for @eleventhhourfactor while rhey were writing their Halloween Bowuigi fic Light Reading for a Dark Evening, and that was a lot of fun!
Did you write any gifts this year?
No. Closest thing was writing Bewitched for the Halloween Bowuigi server event, but no gifts
Did you receive any gifts this year?
No. I’ve got a bad habit of not being super interactive with the communities I write for, and it bites me in the ass when I feel like I’m not really part of them. I’m trying to be more involved and active, now that I have the emotional bandwidth for it after leaving my old job
Maybe another year, but not yet
What’s your most common category?
I think it’s technically smut right now LMAO
What do you listen to while writing?
For my fics that I’ve had going a while/ that I do a lot of planning for, I tend to have a dedicated playlist for it. Both Wicked Game and Dollar for Your Sadness (WIP) have their own playlists that I have been building slowly, usually when the mood strikes me
Beyond that? A LOT of Unlike Pluto. He has a lot of music and damn near all of it is good and it scratches the brain just right.
Favorite work you wrote this year?
Bewitched, if we’re not including chapters from Wicked Game.
It was a lot of fun to write, especially before the deadline of Halloween. I technically did not make it, since I posted at like 11pm Halloween night in my timezone, so it shows as November 1st, but it’s all good lol
The Halloween Boop Fest distracted me, in ny defense lol
Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
Honestly, probably Bowser’s rant in chapter 10 when he’s telling Luigi that he’s selfish and to let people believe he’s a tyrant and a menace if it keeps his people safe.
“And don’t misunderstand me. I’m not- I’m not some selfless goody-two-shoes hero like your brother.” He nearly spat the word out, that underlying animosity surfacing in an instant. “I’m not. I am selfish. I have and do still serve myself first. I will take care of me and mine above anyone else, and I will flatten anyone who tries to keep me from doing that. It just happens that me and mine includes my kingdom. So let them think I’m a tyrant. That I’m cruel and horrible and a plague upon all other kingdoms. To them, I will be. I am not a doormat, I am not weak, I will not be played with. I will be the monster under their bed and their cautionary tale to scare children for centuries if I have to be.”
Biggest surprise while writing this year?
That people enjoy my prose?
I joke that my writing is my stream of consciousness bullshit put into a written form, but it does feel like that sometimes. I struggle to differentiate my writing style from others, especially because I do often pull from and emulate and imitate things I like in others’ writing. I genuinely don’t feel like my writing is very distinctive sometimes, so it’s always a pleasant surprise that it comes up so often that people find it very distinctive and find that it flows well.

ML Fic Recs - Angst
I’m back with another Miraculous Ladybug rec list! As before, I’m trying to rec fics that readers are less likely to have read, generally trying to keep to under 500 kudos on AO3. You can find my other rec lists on my blog under #jennarecsml
If you enjoy these, please reblog so more readers can find these awesome fics!
I’m a sucker for fics that hurt me. The sting of rejection, the pangs of unrequited love, the hurt and the suffering yesssss, give it all to me!! Read these fics and come suffer with me! (Most have happy or at least bittersweet endings.)
Persuasion by InkyCoffee
Of course, she probably wasn’t going to be there in person. And if she was, she may not even remember him. And if she did, she would probably throw him out without an interview.
She would be well within her rights.
He didn’t deserve to be in her presence.
Still, he hoped.
She was why he was back here, after all.
One-shot. Adrienette. Post-relationship (i.e. they were together but they’re not anymore.) and post-Hawkmoth defeat. Adrien knows. And worse than that, he knows he’s responsible for breaking her heart. My hearttttttt, it breaks. The tension between them just hurts in the best way. But this is seriously beautiful.
Alone by plikki
Adrien thought he knew what it meant to be alone, but he had never felt like that before in his life.
One-shot. Set after S4 Gang of Secrets, this fic just HURTS because Adrien is hurting and it’s even worse because we know that something like this is probably coming. Plikki’s Adrien characterization is perfect. There’s no comfort to be found here, but you should still read it.
our hands would not be taught to hold another's by @ladyofthenoodle
Adrien knew that wasn’t fair to blame Ladybug for this. There were rules, and now that Master Fu was gone, it was her job as the Guardian to enforce them. There were rules, and he knew the rules, and he broke them. He hadn’t meant to, but he did.
That didn’t make losing the ring hurt any less.
Plagg shot Ladybug a skeptical look. “And you really think you can do this without him?”
Ladybug bit her lip. “I… I don’t know. But I have to. It’s my job, I shouldn’t need… I should be able to do it with anyone."
But… maybe there couldn’t be Ladybug without Chat Noir. Ladybug by itself didn’t sound nearly as cool.
Multi-chapter. I put off reading this fic for the longest time because I didn’t know if I could handle the angst of Ladybug taking the ring from Adrien, and I really regret that because it’s SO FREAKING AMAZING. Missnoodles does a fantastic job of exploring their relationship and their characters and really does the work of exploring all the feelings. I really can’t sell this one enough.
Anhedonia/When Adrien Met Marinette... by @mikauzoran
Chat Noir hadn’t been lying when he told Ladybug he’d moved on. It was only when he found out that Ladybug was Marinette that he realized he was wrong. Meanwhile, Marinette thinks that she’s missed her chance when Adrien insists that he’s gotten over his feelings. Now, they’re roommates and making themselves miserable as they pine for one another, thinking the situation’s hopeless. Things finally come to a head, and they’re forced to sit down and have an honest conversation about their feelings.
One-shot. Adrien is pining and feeling unlovable, and wow, do you ever feel all of his pain and anxiety seeping out of every word. This is just so heartbreakingly beautiful with a happy ending.
when you weren't mine to lose by @bugsandchatons
Change is a scary thing, especially when it feels like nothing has stayed the same.
It's been a year since Marinette became the Guardian of the Miracle Box - a year of struggling beneath a burden she never asked for, a weight that has her leaning on her partner more and more as the hours fly by, of letting him come to her, too, when he needs a soft place to land. A year of falling for the boy who takes on the world by her side with a smile made of sunlight, and fighting the growing urge to tell him what he means to her.
After all, they'll have time enough for that when Paris is safe.
But when the unthinkable happens, Marinette learns the tragedy of loving someone quietly, and the lines she'll cross to save him.
Multi-chapter. This is what happens when Ladybug loses Chat Noir. It hurts in all the best ways and the writing is absolutely gorgeous and somehow we still get a happy ending!
Echoes of You by @kittinoir
In the day time, she's Marinette - a normal girl, with a normal life. A normal girl, with a normal life. A normal girl, with...
Multi-chapter. You know the angst train everyone’s been riding since we learned in Miracle Queen that renouncing the miracle box costs the guardian their memories? Kittinoir murders us with it. Marinette’s got giant gaps in her memory she’s struggling to understand while Adrien is desperately trying to figure out just what the hell happened to his lady. Lots of angst and a mystery and this fic is one hell of a ride from start to finish! (There’s also a sequel that’s a WIP but I haven’t started reading it yet.)
balancing act by @fictionalinfinity
“Besides, being Ladybug always came first. It came before school, friends, and sometimes even family. Now it had to come before her health. Marinette had a duty to Paris. She wouldn’t let them down.”
Or, being both Ladybug and the Guardian starts to take its toll on Marinette.
-
the epilepsy au literally no one asked for
Multi-chapter. Oooh boy. Fictionalinfinity does an amazing job of weaving these new symptoms into the existing canon in a way that feels completely organic and believable. The characterizations are AMAZING, and the conflict is just so completely believable and absolutely heart-wrenching.
I swear I’ll let you go in the morning by plikki
When you lose all certainty in your life, you hold onto the only person that keeps you from falling apart.
One-shot. Hawk Moth’s identity is revealed and as a result, Ladybug and Chat Noir share their identities with each other. Not nearly as angsty as some of the other fics on this list, but have some sweet hurt/comfort after all of that.
When Push Comes to Shove by @thatanonwiththeoc
Adrien had lost everything after he ran away from her in that sewer. His miraculous, his kwami, his Lady.
However, little did he know that she caught a glance of him without him knowing it, and she wasn't about to let him leave just yet.
One-shot. Set after the NY Special. Once Marinette realizes who ran away from him, it changes everything and the way they interact is just sad and sweet and lovely. The happy ending makes up for all the hurt!
Cut here because of spoilers for season 4 below
Behind the Masks by @mikauzoran
Ladybug’s announcement that she revealed her identity to someone and her insistence that she and Chat Noir still have to keep their identities secret from each other leave Chat Noir in fear of akumatization. When he goes to Marinette for help, she realizes just how badly she’s screwed up and becomes determined to make things right between her and her partner.
One-shot. Set after S4 Gang of Secrets, this was exactly the kind of angst-fest I wanted. Adrien has a lot of buried issues and we’re seeing that explored more in season 4. But Adrien doesn’t seem to want to acknowledge any of that. But here he does and it’s beautiful and the ending asdfghjkl please read!!!

2021 fic year in review
Total number of completed stories: 20
Total word count: 52222
Fandoms written in: Shetland (12), Lewis (6), Endeavour (3). The numbers don’t match up with the total fic count because one of them is a crossover.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? More, but not the more I thought I would write. I thought I’d get further on my Lewis casefic and maybe even start posting it, but instead I ended up writing 20 shorter fics and 12 of them were Shetland (which I didn’t anticipate at all).
What’s your own favorite story of the year? Lead me wild to your dark roads Lewis/Shetland crossover (James/Duncan, James/Robbie, Jimmy/Duncan) which also is possibly my favorite fic that I’ve ever written. I had thought about writing it for months, if not a whole year, before I finally finished it and it came out even better than I’d hoped it would; just the right atmosphere, just the right combination of angst and humor. I don’t even know how many times I’ve reread it since I posted it and it never fails to make me go, ‘wow, I love this’.
Did you take any writing risks this year? I wrote missing scenes for each episode of Shetland S6. I usually don’t write fic in the middle of a show airing because I write relatively slowly and it’s hard to keep up, but Jimmy and Duncan really needed more comfort than what they were getting on screen and I just needed to write it for them. I even managed to post the first three fics before the next episode aired which unprecedented for me.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year? The past two years I’ve had a goal of finishing one of my Lewis casefics, but with The Times being what they are I found it hard to concentrate on longer things. I’m going to give it another go though, I’ve been working on the most likely to be finished of my casefics pretty consistently for the past few days, so I hope to be able to keep up that momentum and at least have a complete first draft before the end of the year. (Though I did just discover a kind of big plot issue this morning so we’ll see.)
I’m sure I’ll get distracted by other things at most point, because as usual I’ve got a bunch of shorter WIPs going, including a sequel to Lead me wild, some Jimmy/Duncan 5x fic, and an outsider POV of James pining over Robbie. I would also like to write another fic that I love at much as Lead me wild but I’m not sure I can top it.
Most popular story of the year? Lead me wild to your dark roads both by kudos and comments (which makes me very happy since it’s my fave too), but it seems a bit unfair to compare because it’s the only multi-chapter fic I posted this year and it’s a crossover. So second place: By kudos: More than fine (Lewis, James/Robbie) By comments: Can't sink now (Shetland s6 missing scene, Jimmy/Duncan)
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Probably Fundamental Truths (Endeavour, Max/Morse) or Simmer Dim (Shetland, teenage Jimmy/Duncan). Though to be fair, I don’t think either fic is underappreciated so much as slightly niche content.
Most fun story to write: Only One Bed (Lewis, James/Robbie). Guess what happens in this fic? ;) But it’s a slightly different take on the usual trope and I always love playing with tropes. I should do more of that. Add it to the 2022 writing goals.
Most unintentionally telling story: I don’t think there is one, unless you count me sending James Hathaway on a walking holiday to Shetland in Lead me wild to your dark roads help sate my own wanderlust.
Biggest disappointment: I am a little disappointed I didn’t finish a casefic but I wrote so much more other fic than I thought I would I’m not really too bothered. I mean, I do this for fun and I just kind of go where to muse takes me so disappointment doesn’t enter into it much.
Biggest surprise: Writing 12 Shetland fics. I never anticipated that I’d write twice a many Shetland fics as Lewis fics in a given year. I also posted both my 50th Lewis fic and my 100th fic on Ao3 which are honestly milestones I never even considered reaching.

Thanks for the tag @amarillis39!
How many works do you have on AO3?
15
What’s your total AO3 word count?
396687
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Currently, write for the Harry Potter fandom but I've recently branched into the Grishaverse fandom. Prior to this, I dipped my toe into the Marvel fandom, and then way back in the 2010 FFN cesspit days, I wrote for (I am showing my vulnerability here, be kind) the Mortal Instrument fandom and Twilight.
... I know, but we stan personal growth.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1) The Fuckening
2) Moribund
3) Bohemian Nights
4) The East Wind Blows (abandoned...maybe)
5) Dangerous Game - Collab with the beautiful @annavek94
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I am so bad at this. I used to reply to every one, but with my job, time isn't a luxury that I have. Sometimes when I have a spare five minutes, I'll try and catch up, but that's rare. I'm thinking that on the final chapters of WIPs I'll do a tour through the comment sections. But yeah, in short, no I don't reply to everyone, I'm useless, but I read and value everyone like gold dust.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
A couple of days ago, I would have said one of the Twilight ones, but they're all gone now. I love leaning into angst, but I don't think I have any angsty endings yet - mainly because the WIPs aren't finished. Of the oneshots, maybe Songbird - it's not exactly a HEA, but a bittersweet broken happiness. The Devil's Strawberry again was an imperfect HEA.
Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
None and I don't really have any plans for one atm.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Aye, The Fuckening and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. In the Fuckening there were a couple people who just straight up were like, this is the worst thing I've ever read - which, I mean, I respect the bluntness of it. But one of the other reasons I stopped replying to comments was the insidious gatekeepers, of which, are regulars in that comment section. With TNBC, there were one or two Dramione antis, but mainly a lot of homophobic hate and it was entirely on FFN.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I have no idea how to answer this tbh. Yes, I have a couple spicey one-shots and multi-chaps. Moribund and Bohemian Nights were specifically written for this purpose. Everything else is more plot-driven with spice in, and the smut will depend on the context of the story.
With Songbird, it was more about the emotional connection rather than the sex. The small dappling of it in Devil's Strawberry was definitely more abstract and about the magic.
But the other two, they're just straight-up, gratuitous porn.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yep, Songbird is currently being translated into Portuguese by a wonderful Kiddo0008.
What’s your all time favorite ship?
Dramione yes, definitely the OTP. Nottpott is a very close second thanks to @olivieblake. Further to that, Darcy x Steve Rogers holds a comforting old-timey charm that I love. Darklina is so seductive, I can't even. Sterek and Merthur are definitely darlings. But tbh, I'm open to giving most pairings a try. Love is love.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
The East Wind Blows. I still have the plot in my head, I know where it'll go and I think it could be really fun. I'll have to go back over what's already been done because I started it a couple of years ago and my writing style has changed.
What are your writing strengths?
Worldbuilding - I get lost in the lore quite a lot, hence the word counts. And scene-setting, which ties into worldbuilding. I love going to the reasons why certain places are named the way they are etc. Everything is done with intention.
Tension and suspense - Every time I have a tense scene to write, my English teacher pops into my head. I was very fortunate to have her, she instilled some fantastic lessons, the main one being namely: stick to the rules until the rules no longer work for you. In tension and suspense, the rules hinder. So break them. Art is art, write with emotion, not equations.
The Quadruple P (and pestle) - Purple prose. I like words and I like using prose to paint the scene I'm setting and the world I'm building. I am unashamedly the purple cape crusader.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Scene changes and transition scene - I have to stop myself from writing every minute arbitrary detail like 'he walked up the curb and the looked for the shop etcetcetc'. Skimming over those transition scenes feels weird and like I'm cutting something short, even though it's the best thing to do for the narrative.
Dialogue - ugh, how do people speak.
Being concise - it's a problem. I want to be able to write a 1.5k story.
Plotting - I tried plotting, I can't. I get bored of the story and don't write it. I'm just embracing that I'm a Discovery writer at this point.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Depends. I think dialogue in other languages can add another layer to the story, acknowledging that yes, there are lots of languages out there etc. Particularly if the scene is set in a different country where the native language isn't English, in my case. Granted, I don't think major plot points should be discussed because they might be missed by some readers, but I think it's definitely good to acknowledge the language of the country setting or of the character. I'd even go as far as to do phonetic spelling with accents if the character is a non-English speaker and it lends to their character and isn't a characterisation of the language. Depends on how immersive you want the story to be.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
....
Twilight, but we don't talk about those days.
What’s your favourite fic that you’ve written?
Fuckening mainly because I'm having so much fun with the lore and mythos. It's been such a challenge, but worth it. Bohemian Nights is just pure wanderlust, smutty indulgence and my happy place. Whiskey Whispers was the funniest thing I've written and such a good time. But I think Call to the Void may get into the top 3 if I can pull it off.
Tagging: @simplifiedemotions @andgladly @amixedwitch @priorityskinshipping-blog @underdarkeningskies and anyone else who'd like to

How many works do you have on AO3?
13
What’s your total AO3 word count?
76,200
(oh what a nice even number - I should try to mess that up as soon as possible, shouldn’t I?)
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Aw man is this intentionally worded to be really hard to answer? I get that it says ‘written’ and not ‘posted’ but then what constitutes a ‘fandom?’ I definitely wrote fics for stuff I was interested in long before I even knew the word ‘fic’ - I did it throughout my childhood, and then in high school, and while I didn’t do it as much in college, it still happened from time to time. So a lot of the books/movies/tv shows/plays/musicals I wrote things for aren’t really fandoms, and frankly, I had to check my old folder just now to even remember some of them existed. I’ll just list the ones that I know for sure had fandoms, since that’s more fun (and embarrassing), right?
Obviously Doctor Who, classic and modern, Torchwood, Sherlock Holmes (ironically more of these seem to be about the books, but yes, I will admit, some for that tv show too), Les Mis, a couple different Marvel comics & movies, Good Omens, hell, I even found a Night Vale fic in there just now.
And I know there are other older things not even in that folder, some of which never made it to a computer at all, so if I had to ballpark a number I’d probably say around 25ish but really, who knows?
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Across the Gap
On the Spot

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I try to! Sometimes I take a long time to do so but for the most part, I usually get around to it. The rare exception would be if I first saw the comment when I was super busy/distracted and then felt like way too much time passed before I noticed it again, that it might be awkward if I said something at that point.
I do genuinely enjoy hearing what people think, but I’m also weirdly terrified of making anyone feel like they have to reply to my comments. I know that’s probably a little strange, but it’s actually a large part of why I made this Ao3 account in the first place - my original one, from high school, is followed by some long-time friends of mine who aren’t interested in this fandom, some of whom are involved in art & writing professionally. The thought of anyone like that reading something I wrote out of friendliness or even just curiosity and potentially having to pretend they liked it for the same reasons stressed me tf out, so I like having this virtually anonymous one because I can relax knowing that anyone who reads or interacts with something I wrote has probably done so only because they wanted to, rather than feeling obligated, and there’s no pressure on them to be nice to me about it if anything I write or post annoys them - so I really hope nobody who does just know me as an anonymous blog has ever worried about offending me by not replying to something, trust me, I’m perfectly happy with it!
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I don’t think I’ve really written any angsty endings? I guess the answer would have to be Reckless just because it involves the characters arguing about sad/weighty things and there isn’t really any solution to those issues - but even then I think I ended it with a kind of acceptance that stops it from really qualifying as angst? I also set it in the the same universe as other fics, so maybe that doesn’t even count as an ending? Am I that bad at ending things on angst? Lol
Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Obviously none of the fics I’ve posted are crossovers but I’m trying to think now if any of my WIP’s are - I’ve definitely poached setting/premise ideas from other media, but in terms of actual crossovers . . . I’ve got a few cross-era or cross-Doctor, a few involving Torchwood, but that’s already the same universe, so the only thing that’d qualify as a true crossover would be some vague pieces of a fic where Jamie, Zoe, and Two end up on the Enterprise, since I think the 60s series of Star Trek and Dr Who feel kind of compatible, don’t they? In fact, aren’t there like officially licensed crossover comics or something? Or did I make that up? Idk, and the ideas are very loose, so it’s not much of a WIP either
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Nope, never
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I’ve never written smut, but I’m wondering if it’s possible that could change soon. There’s a longish multi-chapter fic I’ve been working on for a frankly embarrassing amount of time, and the plot does call for a sex scene at one point towards the end, but I can’t seem to make up my mind on how - uh, I guess the word is explicit? - it should get. I know I could easily do a fade to black/implication thing, but it’s kind of a source of contention and anxiety for the characters, so to skip over writing the actual scene and just revisit them afterwards rings of “and they slept together and now everything’s fine!” which feels kinda cheap to me - in this context, anyway - and not the right payoff for a long fic that’s otherwise more of an interpersonal drama/slightly a period piece, if I had to place it in a genre. I feel like my aversion to actually writing the scene might just be prudishness I should get over, or maybe just self-doubt, because I know I’d rather have a well-written, funny, character-development-supporting sex scene than nothing at all, but since I’ve never had any interest in writing a scene like that before, I don’t know if I can do it well, and I also don’t want to ruin a fic I’m otherwise proud of by doing it badly... ugh I have to figure this out
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I seriously doubt it
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope
What’s your all time favorite ship?
I mean, it’s gotta be Two & Jamie. I’ve shipped things before with varying levels of investment, but I’ve never been able to use the term ‘otp’ in a literal sense until I came across them, and now it’s already basically gone out of fashion, go figure!
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I’m not sure if I have one? My WIP doc is huge, but I don’t actually intend to get around to finishing everything in it, so I’d like to think that anything I’ve currently singled out to complete can actually get done.
That said, I do have a few AU’s that I don’t really plan to finish, but it might be cool if I could. Two of them are for all the main + some supporting characters of the Second Doctor’s era - one’s a modern day school teachers AU, and the other is a typical fantasy/fairy tale AU. Another is just Two/Jamie, based on Doctor Faustus (specifically the Marlowe play version) but right now there are two different versions of the ending coexisting in my head. I’ve written parts of scenes & some gen. backstory for all of those ideas, but I don’t know if I’ll ever try to finish them, or what form a finished product would even take - a series of one-shots set in the same universe? one long multi-chapter fic with some kind of overarching plot? And the amount of context/worldbuilding a big AU like these would require might not make them very appealing fics for people to read, so maybe it is better if I just keep them to myself, since in my head I already know what’s going on in those worlds lol.
What are your writing strengths?
I honestly don’t know. I haven’t had a creative writing class since middle school, and since then I’ve only ever shown creative writing to others in a fandom context, so it’s been a while since I’ve discussed it or gotten critical feedback. I suppose when I work in other arts or even academic writing contexts, people usually say I’m kind of insightful or at least detail oriented, which might just be another way of saying I overthink things, but I like to imagine I’m decent at finding little points of interest to expand upon.
What are your writing weaknesses?
If you’ve read this far I feel like you must know what I’m about to say: I do not know how to be concise.
Usually when I’m writing a fic, I put down the dialogue first on its own, leaving out the action of the scene and whatever plot/context led there, even if I’ve already figured all of that out. But then when I go to add those things in, they’re always longer than I wanted them to be. I don’t mind writing something long, but I don’t want my fics to be a slog to get through either, and there can be a point at which the stuff I’ve added for context overwhelms the stuff that I wanted the fic to be about in the first place, so it becomes a structural/proportion issue too. I haven’t completely given up on any fics because of this yet, but there’s one I’ve been struggling with for a couple months now - probably because I’m even second-guessing myself on which scenes need to be written out and which can just be referenced like a recap. Hopefully I figure that one out soon.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
((this is karma isn’t it? i posted a fic last week with two words of gaelic in it and was worried about that and now this is karma))
In general, I don’t want to do it. I feel like you’ve gotta have a really good grasp of a language to write dialogue & speech patterns for someone who’s a native speaker, and since I’m far from fluent in any language the characters I write for are, I wouldn’t feel confident writing any significant amount of dialogue in, say, Gaelic.
As a sidenote, though, I kinda love it when other people do it, particularly for Jamie. Irish (Gaeilge) and Scottish (Gàidhlig) are both languages I’ve wanted to learn for a long time, because my family’s fresh out of living speakers of either & I think that’s a shame, but I started with Irish and at the moment I’m still very much learning it. As different as they are, it still helps me understand parts of lyrics or texts that I come across in Gàidhlig fairly frequently, so when it comes up in a fic I get to feel like I’m being responsible and practicing, and it’s great when I can actually understand what’s being said.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
I’m gonna go with Harry Potter even though that’s probably not a perfectly accurate answer - it’s almost certainly the first thing that has a fandom that I ever wrote for, but it was in a notebook when I was a kid and never something that I even typed on a computer, much less posted online or shared with other members of a fandom. But even then, I’m sure it wasn’t the first pre-existing fictional universe I ever set an original story in, because I did that a lot when I was a kid, it’s just hard to remember those clearly or on any kind of timeline.
What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?
I’m very partial to Across the Gap, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that ranked first on the kudos thing above - but I’ve also got a soft spot for So Merrily We’ll Sing. It’s so self-indulgent it feels silly saying ‘it was so easy to write!’ but I guess having a fic that’s already just 100% headcaonons and fluff tied together by a song you really love does prevent it from being much of a labor (I also managed to refrain from making that one unnecessarily long, so that’s another win there)
tagging @terryfphanatics and anyone else who wants to do it - sorry I’m bad at remembering whose tumblr goes with whose Ao3 account, but I really would be interested to read this if anyone else feels like answering them!

Thank you so much for tagging me in this @earthlingeliott ilysm 🥰
if you’re a writer:
a fic that you’re really proud of:
Probably Hair’be. It was the first proper multi chapter fic that I wrote, and it took me so many months to write it. I know that it probably isn’t the best written thing and I have definitely gotten better since then, but I’m super proud of actually writing so much and being able to say that I finished it.
a fic that you were nervous to post:
Umm probably A Vision of a Dying Embrace. It was the first fic that I did and full of angst (and mcd oop) so I knew that barely anyone would read it anyway but yeah I was very nervous to put my work out there.
a fic you wished got more hits/kudos/comments:
It’s probably a tie between two. The first one being You’re the song I play in my heart, just because I really loved writing it but I feel like not a lot of people read it? idk. the second one is my Yousmina fic. That one is obviously because it doesn’t have sobbe in it and barely anyone reads wtfock fics that don’t have sobbe (this isn’t me being mad, i do this too), i just wish it had more poeple reading it because i’m actually really happy with how it turned out
one of your favorite tropes to write:
I love slow burns (if you couldn’t tell haha) and pining is great too, gotta get that ✨tension✨ but yeah other than that just fluff, tooth-rotting fluff because imagining sweet situations for sobbe helps me cope with not seeing them
another ship that you don’t write but you’d like to write:
I read Evak fics quite a lot so that would be one that I may write someday... the problem is with that, a lot of people have done so many amazing fics for them and I wouldn’t want to unintentionally steal someone’s idea.
one of your abandoned wip you never wrote but wish you did:
I literally have 13 wips on my computer that i haven’t touched for months 😬 but all of them i loved the ideas for. I think maybe it would be the one where Sander has to go to his cousin’s wedding but he has to fly there (he is afraid of flying) and sits next to robbe who calms him down. plot twist, they are actually going to the same wedding because it is Amber and Aaron getting married and boom they fall in love. that one i would love to finish one day.
Ooor a certain fic that me and a certain person thought about *cough* @sonderthroughthestreets *cough* that i haven’t added to in... i don’t even know how long oops. again, maybe one day
another writer you would love to collaborate with:
Literally everyone because you are all so talented and I am in absolute awe of you!!! like your talent honestly astounds me. But if i had to pick... @sonderthroughthestreets @womenstan @honeyandsinn (yes I know we already collaborated with one more night don’t come for me, i just wanna work with you because i love you and i think you’re super talented)
if you’re a reader:
a fic (or more) that you love to reread:
I literally reread fics every night... ummm... Ok this is just a few of them
rotten work by aholynight
I’m slowly falling away by @fockinglevendcliche (the tension literally kills me every time)
run and score by aurora winds
we’ve been through a lot of things. you and me by @yasminaselamrani
recommend a story to your followers:
Ok so obviously the ones i listed above
mornings, yours & mine by ivy_seas
The entire sobbe!dads series that @honeyandsinn is doing (go and read it, it’s amazing)
If I asked you now, would you be my prince by @sonderthroughthestreets and @starryfreckles (they are doing the lords work with the ballet au)
All I Want by @if-music-be-the-food-of-love
tag an author you discovered recently:
Ummm i don’t think i really found anyone recently (literally constantly in the tag soo) but if you are a new writer and i didn’t realise, I’ve probably read it haha
spread the love!
tag someone who inspires you to write:
Literally everyone in the alt er writers block, you are all incredible and i love you so so much. And @sonderthroughthestreets @womenstan @honeyandsinn (sorry to be tagging you so many times in this) you are all so amazing and truly inspire me, so thank you 🥰
tag someone who you’ve admired forever:
Wow literally so many, like when i first got to ao3 i was mind blown (still am)
I’ll just list a few of the people and minimise my awkwardness as much as possible haha @yasminaselamrani @earthlingeliott @nbrook29 @foxsake5 @fockinglevendcliche @sobbefairytales (i know some of you I have never spoken to before... but hi you’re amazing, I love your fics 😊)
tag your writing support:
haha the alt er writers block (so yes hello @12monthoctober this includes you too my lovely, ily) are my saving grace. Also all the people who leave comments on my fics (I don’t know what their tumblrs are or i would tag them) but they help so much with my motivation.
I have no idea who has done this already but if you have already been tagged or if you’re reading this and want to do it, feel free!

20 [Fanfic Writer] Questions Game
Thank you so much for tagging me, @lemony-snickers! This is tons of fun, I love answering these kinds of big questionnaires 😂💕 Also putting mine under a cut because there’s a lot of questions and I like to ramble.
Also gonna go ahead and just tag whoever wants to do this! 😅💕
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
As of August 27, 2021, I have a total of 77 works on my AO3!
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
Funny enough, I was just looking at this, specifically, earlier today and kind of laughing about it. Right now, my total word count across all my works is 1,148,941 😬
3. How many fandoms have you written for, and what are they?
Apparently 12, but some of them I don’t really consider “big” in my fandom repertoire. Naruto is my greatest fandom with a total of 60 fics so far, followed by The Chronicles of Narnia and Rise of the Guardians. The rest are ones I either did crossover fics with or just did one-off little pieces with--The Incredibles, Tangled, Brave, How to Train Your Dragon, Arthurian Mythology, Disney Princesses, Fairy Tales and Related Fandoms, Back to the Future, and Frozen.
4. What are your Top Five fics by kudos?
The Scarecrow and The Bell (Naruto) - 470 kudos The Day Kakashi’s Mask Slipped (Naruto) - 139 kudos Sunflowers (Naruto) - 92 kudos Sakumo the House Husband (Naruto) - 81 kudos Someone to Lean On (Naruto) - 67 kudos
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I always try to respond to comments, because I like to acknowledge when people respond to my work. I cherish comments like nobody’s business, especially when they’re kind and reactionary. I just really love seeing/hearing what people think of the way a story is progressing, or what they thought of a one-shot. Comments keep me going especially when it comes to longfic so I want to be able to let readers know that I do in fact see their comments, that I’m acknowledging what they’re saying, and that I appreciate them. Plus, it can be kind of fun to tease upcoming events in a fic through responses to people’s comments, too. Because I’m mean.
6. What fic have you written with the angstiest ending?
Definitely Hothouse (Rise of the Guardians/The Incredibles; Jack Frost x Violet Parr; American Horror Story AU). This was the first multi-chaptered fic I ever wrote to completion and I honestly cringe when I remember it exists both because it’s so poorly organized (and full of nasty plot holes) and because I just went ham on the gore factor. It definitely has a really bittersweet and heartbreaking ending to it, too.
7. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
I think I’ll definitely have to say Temptation. The story itself was kind of a ride, and it’s only the first installment in a series, but it follows the plot of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe but remixed due to the presence of an original character, but the ending is still roughly the same as the original: they defeat the evil, the Pevensies are all crowned kings and queens, happy days. Reading the last few paragraphs of the last chapter honestly still gets me all up in my feelings.
8. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I used to be more of a crossover writer due to one of my main ships being a crossover ship. They weren’t super crazy, though, because they were both CGI-animated films. The craziest crossover I’ve ever written is an in-progress/unfinished multichapter piece, Kakashi, Enchanted, that sees our favorite Copy Ninja get kamui’d into the Disney princess dimension and has to help the likes of Snow White, Cinderella, and Rapunzel on his journey to find a way back to his own world. It’s a super weird premise but definitely one of my more lighthearted works and fun to revisit when I need to decompress.
9. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I don’t think I’ve ever received hate so much as I’ve received criticism. The closest I ever got to hate on a fic, I think, was someone left an overly personal and mentally disturbed comment on a chapter of my main fic that made me convinced they needed to seek therapy and deal with their own personal issues rather than take it out on a fanfic about animated ninjas.
10. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Maybe 👀 I’m super vanilla when it comes to smut, though. I think the wildest thing I’ve ever written in smut is breeding kink.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of, and I hope I never will.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not yet! I had someone ask to translate a one-shot of mine in Russian but I never got a response back when I laid out my terms and conditions.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have not! I used to do paragraph-style roleplay which was kind of like cowriting fanfiction but writing is so personal and sacred to me that I don’t know if I could ever actually cowrite a fic with someone. I like brainstorming with other people, but writing for me is more of a deeply personal and independent endeavour.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Oh god, this is a tricky question because it depends on fandom. I absolutely love New Dream (Rapunzel x Eugene, Tangled) and have for the past ten years, and my love for them as only grown since watching Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure. I don’t write or even really read a ton of fanfiction for them, though. I’m also still highly dedicated to my favorite crossover crackship, Frostfield (Jack Frost x Violet Parr, Rise of the Guardians/The Incredibles) and to this day, if you search for that ship on AO3, I am the sole provider of every single fic about them so far. I’m not as active with them as I used to be, but they got me through some really rough times back in the day and still mean so much to me. A lot of my favorite ships across fandoms, though, are honestly canon x OC ships of mine because I am a self-indulgent bitch who needs to project. So Peter Pevensie x Eilonwy (The Chronicles of Narnia) and Kakashi Hatake x Rei Natsuki (Naruto) are really important to me and I’ve poured so much of myself specifically into their stories. I think it’s safe to say Kakashi and Rei is my all-time favorite ship across all fandoms, though, just because of how much their story means to me. The Scarecrow and The Bell is my magnum opus, my pride and joy, and I’m sure it will be my biggest fandom footprint of my entire life. I’ve dedicated the past three years to this story and these characters and I intend to continue doing it until it no longer brings me joy (which I hope it always will). There’s just so much I could say about this story and Kakashi and Rei’s relationship but I don’t think we have enough time or space in this post for that 😅 Just know that they mean the world to me and I will always hold them in the highest regard as a beautifully messy, flawed, passionate, soulmate-y ship that I love with all of my heart 🥺
EDIT: I also feel obligated to tack on some of my absolute favorite Naruto ships because I may not have written for all of them (yet) but they still make me unbelievably happy or I find them really compelling and enjoy the idea of exploring them:
Naruhina is precious happy sunshine and The Last honestly felt like a wonderful Disney princess movie to me, it was so cute and the romance was so on-point, Naruhina just makes me so incredibly happy and I love them with all my heart.
MinaKushi also gets me all up in my feels and I adore them with every fiber of my being. Their romance also gave me Disney princess movie vibes which I love, their story is just so damn sweet as is their character dynamic and I am still so heartbroken that they never got to be a happy family with Naruto because you know what? It’s what they deserved!
SasuSaku is so compelling to me and I really feel like we were cheated out of seeing their relationship develop and evolve postwar in the same way The Last did for Naruhina. They’re my favorite angst ship and while I don’t think they were written that well in canon, I love the possibility and potential of them together and am excited to explore them more in-depth in my own writing.
NejiTen is just too cute, I really love the way Neji and Tenten’s personalities compliment each other? I don’t have much else to say about them except that I really love them together and think they have so much untapped potential that I also can’t wait to explore in more depth in my own writing.
15. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Paper Hearts and Impromptu Bookmarks, probably. I love the premise of this story a lot and I have so many interesting ideas for it but at the same time, it also feels kind of cheap and cringey to me, in a way? It takes all of these ideas I probably would have had if I had been into Naruto when I was a kid and kind of compiles them all into one big story. Kakashi and Aiko’s relationship and story is still really important to me and I want to continue it someday but for right now, I just haven’t had the motivation or desire to write any more of it. I think I’m just so overwhelmingly preoccupied with writing Kakashi and Rei’s story that I can’t imagine writing any other Kakashi x OC fics right now.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I want to say that I’m really good at capturing complex emotion? I don’t know, I write a lot of angst and mental upheaval in my fics which can be really difficult to try and capture, but I think I do a decent enough job of it? And just writing difficult subjects in general. I think it’s really important to address difficult topics such as mental illness and relationship difficulties and everything but I also want to try and write those topics in a way that is both authentic to the experience while also still tasteful. I don’t want to drive readers away with heavy subject matter but rather present a situation that feels real and authentic while also still being digestible. I may not be doing a very good job of that during the current arc of my fic that I’m working on, but I’m trying haha
EDIT 2: I also want to add onto this to say that I’m really proud of my organizational techniques for writing longfic. It’s not necessarily a strength in terms of the prose itself but it’s something that’s taken me years to really get a grasp on and find a method that works perfectly for me and so far, it’s been extremely helpful and beneficial to me. I don’t know where I would be now as a writer without these essential tools in my pocket.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I feel like I do a really bad job of the “show, don’t tell” thing. It can be really hard to balance descriptive prose with straightforward writing that moves things along. I don’t want to dwell on mental dialogue to the point where you lose track of what’s going on, but I also don’t want my stuff to read like “Character A did xyz. Character B said abc. They went to 123″, whatever. Another thing I struggle with is sentence variation. I always fall into the same patterns when I’m writing prose and I get really self-conscious about it because I don’t want to sound repetitive or disrupt the flow of the writing. One of my favorite things about prose is focusing on the cadence of the words, I think it’s one of the most beautiful things about writing in general, but it can just be really difficult to get a good grip on that. I’ve been told in the past that I apparently have a really good grasp/control of the language or whatever but sometimes I just find that really hard to believe when I look at my work with such scrutiny. I think one of my biggest pet peeves with my own writing, too, is feeling like I start all of my sentences the same five different ways. I’ll read other people’s works and they’ll write sentences like “Glass-blue water lapped against the shores of a deserted beach as a lonely woman gazed off into the distance” and I can just never figure out how to realistically write sentences that start like that in the context of my prose and it drives me fucking crazy, like I’m definitely jealous  😅
18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I’ve never really thought much about it before, but I think there are pros and cons! For bilingual/multilingual readers, I think it can be a really enriching reading experience because they know what’s being said in both languages. For people who only know one language, however, unless a translation is provided, I feel like it can be really alienating. I think the best use of that for both worlds is using it as a means for miscommunication humor. Other than that, I think it can be a slippery slope that depends on what kind of reader you are and how it’s written.
19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
The Chronicles of Narnia! My very first fanfiction was a Narnia fanfic that I barely remember except that it laid the basis for Temptation and my Narnia fanfic series as a whole. I never posted this first iteration anyway, but I remember it was 2008/2009 and I wrote a solid 80 pages (which was wild for me at the time) and had gotten halfway through remixing the events of Prince Caspian when my computer crashed and I lost absolutely everything. I’m still heartbroken that it’s gone forever, not because I’d want to go back and read it necessarily (since I’m sure it was actually hot garbage) but at least for nostalgia’s sake. Either way, like I said, this long-lost fic laid the basis for the very first fanfiction I ever posted, the first published (and never finished) iteration of Temptation back in 2011 on deviantART and the since-defunct Figment. I fell out of the fandom around 2012/2013 and left the story alone for a while before ultimately deciding to completely redux and rewrite the story when the fixation swung back around again between 2016 and 2018.
20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Despite the fact that it’s still in-progress, definitely The Scarecrow and The Bell. This fic just genuinely means so damn much to me and I will cherish it for the rest of my life because of how much it’s given me, how much love and passion and time and even parts of myself that I have poured into this, and also just how expansive of a story this is. Not only does it touch on some very dark and heavy topics, but I’ve also created so much of my own characters and meta for this story that it’s almost an entire universe in and of itself. I’ve just contributed so much additional world-building and created so many new OCs to fill important roles in this story and in Rei’s life, and they’ve all become so deeply important to me as they’ve developed further over the years. I’ve come up with so many interesting ideas for everyone and their lives, which are all slowly becoming so rich and varied. Not to mention that it’s my most popular fic to date as well as my longest fic at 632k and counting. I’ve really just genuinely poured so much of my heart and soul into this story, it’s my absolute favorite thing I’ve ever done and I really mean it when I say that I will cherish it for the rest of my life.

List of wips - aka struggles
Call Me A Jason Todd fic I started two years ago and still go back to poke at longingly, will the second and final chapter ever be posted? Who can know for sure.
-
I tell myself that I don't need Anyone (But the truth is no one needs Me) Another Jason Todd fic I haven't completed, posted two years ago for whumptober, it was the only day of whumptober I participated in, intended to be full of Captain Atom and Jason Todd interacting during the fall out of Bludhaven getting chemo'd but he doesn't show up in the first chapter and have you ever tried to read Infinite Crisis? It's a fucking mess. With this wip I have a close to justifiable excuse in that I refuse to write without knowing the canon, and reading through all the canon that's relevant is A Task.
-
The Monster in The Man A Merlin fic floating around my drafts, currently at a good bit over 5k wherein Merlin gets POSSESSED by an old enchantment gone mad. Written because a Merlin fic I read ended on a horror style cliffhanger and I couldn't handle it so I charged my way through the first 2k of a sequel and I've been adding to it ever since. Angst with a hopefully happy ending, if I ever frikking finish it.
-
The Dragon Lord In the aftermath of his father's death after Merlin inherits his father's dragon lord abilities he notices some minor changes to his interactions with his friends, the thing is that Merlin is a dragon lord and unusually what he hoards is people, things might just turn out the better for it.
-
Maelstrom A Naruto time travel fix it fic that wouldn't leave me alone until I got the first chapter out, ironically it has left me entirely alone since I finished the first chapter and I have no idea if inspiration for it will ever return or when that will be.
-
You Don't Know Anything Long long ago in a land of asks and a time of legend @paradise-runway sent me a fic request for "one where the other Bat boys find out the circumstances of Jason's death and resurrection and their reaction?" it has been lingering in my drafts haunting me ever since, someday, someday I shall fulfill what has been promised.
-
Of Curses and Covenants A longfic exploring the magical underbelly of Gotham's history, focuses on the intertwined relationship of the Wayne Family and the Zatara Family brought about by how often Waynes through the generations have ended up being cursed. I have an index of all the curses ready, the problem with this one is the plot and the story.
-
Vicki Finds a Bat (temporary title) Vicki Vale stumbles upon a still alive young adult Jason Todd at a wafflehouse on the way back from snooping into Cobblepot's latest criminal schemes. Convincing the young man to go back home to his loving father might prove more of a challenge than she thinks however. (will have a happy ending if I ever fucking finish it, for now it looms in my drafts like an unhappy gargoyle)
-
Hug Deficit A fic about Jason being touch starved and his family fixing it, hurt/comfort all the way, post resurrection.
-
Stephanie Brown and The Mansion of Man Pain Robin Era Steph, she and Alfred have pumpkin spice lattes together, it's their thing because I say it is. Includes, Alfred raised 5 boys counting Bruce, he's not sure how to handle a little girl and Bruce trying to dad plus Steph trying her best. Would be a lot easier to write if I was any good at comedy.
-
Another Time, Another Place Some twenty years or so after their death, Martha and Thomas Wayne appear in the middle of Wayne Manor's ground floor parlour room, the major problem with this? Not only are Bruce and Dick away, Alfred's on holiday in England! Which is why Jason as the eldest has been unwillingly nominated by his younger siblings to deal with the situation at hand. Martha and Thomas in this are heavily inspired by @unpretty's amazing portrayals in her fics with them.
- Queen Blackfire and the Lazarus Lord An au with Soulmate identifying marks: Jason Todd was having an okay time as de-facto leader of The Outlaws, a band of misfits and rebels with hearts of gold (or at least silver) saving the world the best they could and filling in the gaps the more straightforward heroes tended to miss while they were at it. Then he found out he was soulmates with the Alien Warrior Queen bent on declaring war on planet Earth if the Justice League didn't find her soulmate for her. Things with his friend, team mate and potential future sister in law Kori just got super awkward and the only good thing he can find about this situation is how angry (and protective? But maybe he's just imagining that) Bruce seems over the whole thing.
Side note: Kommand'r freaked out during the years Jason was 'dead' and accidentally brought peace to a huge chunk of space and intergalactic society via building up her empire after throwing herself into work to escape the grief.
- To Grasp The Hand of a Fox Naruto and Kurama travel back in time to save the world but unfortunately they land in the same moment that Kurama's just been put under a genjutsu by Madara Uchiha, Naruto has to make his way to Konoha and wake Kurama up before the villagers seal him away inside Mito. Can he save his friend in time to save them all?
-
Those Winter Sundays Mcu fic. Snapshots of Tony working hard for the avengers and no one noticing. Civil War Team Iron Man.
- Salvation Rides a Solar Wind Iron Man fic in a Science fiction / Western style fic where Tony's presence is described through the eyes of the aliens he helps. Au where the war with Thanos goes very differently. The type of fic that needs like 5 multi chapter fics in a single series to truly shine, hence why I will likely never finish it.
-
And We Break Away Again Jason goes back to Talia after Damian is brought back from the dead by Bruce. It's not that he begrudges his little brother his resurrection, the opposite, but he can't ignore what Bruce did to him by taking him to the magdala valley and he can't ignore what Bruce doing for Damian what he didn't do for him, (do for Dick, do for any of them besides the blood related one) means. So he decides to go back to the only person who ever seemed to understand why he wanted to avenge himself in the first place, the only person who seemed to agree that he had a right to be angry that he'd died at all, the only person he can trust to hold him together while he feels like he's falling apart that won't judge him against the heroic mold while they're at it. Not sure if this will be a oneshot or a series but we're going good Talia with this one regardless, DC's been ruining her lately but through fanfic all things are possible so fuck them.
-
Fan The Flames In the aftermath of a magical fire taking hold of the Daily Planet in Metropolis, Superman is missing, can Batman and the rest of the Justice League find their friend as well as the identity of the evil arsonist before Lex Luther does it first?
-
In a Whisper (In a Wish) Ichigo Kurosaki protects people, it's not just who he is, it's what he is, down to the core of his very soul. The only problem is, that a few weeks ago he sacrificed half his soul to protect the world. It aches inside where he knows something important used to be. When everyone he cares for is avoiding him and he's starting to feel more like a shadow than a person, that aches at him too and he can't help but wish, quietly, privately, painfully, to himself if no one else that things were different, that he wasn't so broken or so alone. But if wishes were fishes they'd fill a whole sea (just be careful not to whisper them within the hearing range of the Hōgyoku).
-
An Honest Conversation (Is A Bitter Thing To Crave) Jason kidnaps Bruce but things don't go as Bruce expects. First of all the reason Jason was able to kidnap him was because Stephanie of all people was his insider, why would she support someone Batman knows she's only met once. And second of all the reason he's been abducted - So that Jason can drug them both with the same substance. And when Bruce asks what he's doing this for Jason only responds, "We don't trust each other enough to have a truthful conversation otherwise" and refuses to say anything more while they wait for it to kick in. What will be revealed by this forced honest encounter on both sides? -
carrying the world on thin shoulders Midoriya Izuku deserves better from literally all the adults in his life so this is part whump part hurt comfort part fix it fic that sprawls out from time to time but it's pretty bad tbh, at some point I'll probably make it neater and give it something resembling a coherent plot. Hopefully. -
Trust Issues HP fic. Harry gets dosed with a potion that's supposed to reinforce your strongest survival instinct, the person who drugged him might've intended to be helpful but said potion happened to be at extra strength and he was given what would be a normal fix for the regular version but for this one is twice the recommended amount. Great.. The biggest problem about all this - beyond his internationally wanted godfather Sirius endangering himself by hiding out in a cave near Hogsmeade against all rational advice, his best friend Ron hating him, everyone in school besides his other best friend Hermione also hating him or avoiding him and the entire Goblet of Fire problem - is that he can't bring himself to trust anyone enough to tell them what's wrong.
-
Truth is Treason in the Empire of Lies A post marvel avengers story, thor pov probably, made because I like to dive into a pool of thor & loki sibling feels sometimes: Starts off as Thor regales his new human shield brothers with the story of his banishment and return to Asgard ending with Loki falling into the Void and the Avengers have some questions, questions Thor had not thought of, remarks on things that Thor doesn’t know how to explain away.  After he goes to Loki’s cell and asks him some things he becomes more and more angry despite having no one he can punch > Gets drunk and criticises Sif and The Warriors Three after they try to calm him down > mention of Loki still being underage by Aesir standards during Thor 1 seeing as Thor was being crowned due to being of age in the movie > heavy inspiration drawn from queen regnant by peaceheather. “For while the Treason I detest, the Traitor I love still.” Currently just an outline.
-
Separation Split personality disorder Red Hood and Jason Todd, alternatively, Red Hood is a demon/parasite latched on to Jay. A lot of work necessary considering right now it’s currently just an idea inspired by a cool tumblr fanart.
-
A Trinity of Head Wounds The dcu trinity in the aftermath of a fight against some alien invaders (or something along those lines), whump, hurt/comfort, starts with them arguing, ends with them bleeding on each other in a friendship way, whole thing should take place in a single room on the watchtower and be a oneshot so it's gotta be a short and sweet one-two gut punch with the feelings which is difficuuult.
-
A Stark in The Stars an mcu fic, a really over complicated mcu fic, mostly because of Steve Roger's timeline fuckery, Tony's alive but he's not supposed to be, but so are a lot of people who were dead but aren't now you might say what with the snap and the blip. The thing is that Steve's timeline fuckery is making it so that everyone keeps getting confused between the two different timelines of events, obviously more confused the more that their characters were connected to the films/the events that were altered, the punchline of this particular fic though is that Tony's still alive and he's unaware of the timeline of events where he died. And as he's currently in space he's also unaware that everyone on Earth thinks he's dead (because why wouldn't they? he died in endgame after all). That makes this fic super tough to write because like ultimate unreliable narrator right here and not sure how to tie in the whole 'oh wait actually everyone on Earth thinks I'm dead because of the canon timelines' thing in or at what point of the story to do that at. The fuckery of it all gives me a headache. Plot is hard. Also all of that's basically background to the actual focus of most of the fic thus far which is Tony travelling around space in an Iron Man suit up until the point where it won't be background.
-
Magic Chained Merlin au. When you put magic restraining cuffs on Magic himself you don't just bind him you bind all magic the world over. It is therefore, infinitely lucky that Uther Pendragon never became aware of this fact.
-
A Child in The Cold bnha Midoriya deserves better also Recovery Girl and Aizawa have shit to answer for as far as I'm concerned.

Content tag game
I was tagged by the lovely @kkulfm
thank you so much for the tag Evie~💕
1. what fandoms have you written for (but do not currently)?
I’ve written for a lot of different fandoms over the years! Harry Potter was my first fandom, and there are many other books I’ve written for. I’ve also written for some other k-pop groups in the past!
2. what fandoms are you currently writing for?
Only BTS for now.
3. how long have you been writing?
Similar to Evie, I started writing (short stories and fanfics) when I was really young. I started writing little stories as soon as I was able to write, and probably wrote my first fanfic when I was in the 5th grade of elementary school. But there have been a lot of really long gaps in between where I didn’t write for years on end.. so it’s quite difficult to say in total how long I’ve been writing for! 😅
4. on which platforms do you post your stories?
I post here on tumblr and also cross-post to ao3!
5. what is your favourite genre to write?
Hmm.. this is actually quite hard! I think I default to established relationships/slice of life type fics, as you can see through my drabbles. But what I’ve always really enjoyed writing was fantasy and historical AUs.. maybe I’ll be able to post something like that someday!
6. are you a pantser or a planner?
Ah.. I’m definitely a natural pantser. Until recently, I never really did any planning for anything I wrote. Sometimes I had an overall idea, but most of the time I literally just sat down and wrote whatever came to my mind.. I’m trying to get better at planning though! I think without any kind of outline it’s very easy to run out of steam and abandon what your working on.. so hopefully I find a good balance!
7. one shot or multi-chapter?
I think I used to write exclusively multi-chapter stories, and I’m definitely a bit partial to them.. But as someone who just recently got back into writing after years away, one shots and drabbles have definitely been a life saver. And I’ve also really gained a love for them after reading a lot of really amazingly well-written one shots on here. Both have their own charm I think!
8. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion?
I’m gonna have to agree here and say.. when it’s finished! In the past, I tried to make sure things weren’t too short, but other than that, I just end things when it feels like that’s where it should end.
9. what is your longest published story? is it complete?
The longest at the moment is take me home which is 6.9K, and it is complete!
10. which story did you enjoy working on the most?
Hmm.. this is difficult actually! The majority of the stories I’ve posted up until now have been very short drabbles that came to be very quickly. It’s been my way of exploring my writing again, and also a way to comfort both myself and those that might be going through a hard time. I think in that way, it’s been enjoyable to work on all of them, as they’ve all given me something in return. I hope they can be a source of warmth to others as well. But I’ve also been enjoying doing some experimenting outside of that format recently, and I hope to share something with you all soon!
11. favourite request you’ve written and why?
Ahh.. I used to do requests a long time ago for a different fandom, and it was not the best experience! I do like the idea of prompts though.. maybe one day I can experiment with that once I’m into a better flow!
12. are there recurring themes in your stories?
These kinds of questions are so hard... I think I try hard not to think much about my writing. But! I think there’s definitely a recurring theme of mental health, communication and just the couples being there for each other and supporting each other in quiet ways. I don’t know.. I’d be curious to hear what others think!
13. current number of wips?
As for the ones I’m actually working on.. there are currently two!
14. three things you have noticed about your own writing?
Oh no.. another question like this. Okay.. let’s see.
I have a very big problem with monologuing.. until recently there was almost no dialogue in any of my writing, and I had to really work to add in verbal interactions between characters.
Also, I’m not so good with describing actions.. basically the only thing that really comes naturally is writing about thoughts and emotions.
But as a result, I’ve heard from others that my portrayal of emotions is relatable and that people have been comforted by my writing.. so I’m trying not to only focus on the negative points!
That’s basically one thing.. 😓
15. a quote you like from a published story.
Ah, this is also difficult! I tend to write things and then try not to look at them again because I’m so overly critical.. But there were a couple paragraphs from tides of life that I really loved. I like the metaphorical language I chose and how I connected it to the setting. If I had to choose one quote, I guess it would be this one.
He later came to understand that it was just the waves of homesickness that would ebb and flow, sometimes hitting you like a tsunami and catching you off guard. It was often triggered by the smallest things. A scent, a song, a movie, or even a phrase. It would hit you suddenly just how much you missed the home you grew up in, the people you grew up with.
16. a quote from an unpublished story.
This is from a story I’ve been wrestling with lately.. it’s royal guard!seokjin x princess!reader. I’m very nervous to share this.. 🙈
“Your father mentioned you had left the meeting in a hurry. As your personal guard, I took it upon myself to ensure you were alright. I thought you might be unwell,” he said, maintaining his wall of professionalism and only succeeding in irritating you further.
You let out an ungraceful snort, and his eyes widened momentarily. You didn’t know what was wrong with you, but you suddenly found you just could not maintain your mask any longer. You were so sick of everyone, including yourself, hiding behind these stupid masks of feigned indifference and professionalism.
This is a story that came out of nowhere and the characters all have a mind of their own.. It’s been quite fun as it’s something completely different from what I’ve been writing recently.. But I’m also incredibly nervous about sharing it with all of you.. 👀
17. a space for you to say something to your readers.
I really don’t know what to say.. I’m just so thankful to anyone who takes the time to read any of my posts, and it’s really been such a wonderful experience to share my writing and hear from you. Every single word from you all really just brightens my day and makes me want to continue to create and experiment with writing.
I’ve met so many beautiful people since making the choice to start being more active on here.. and I’m so incredibly grateful for it. All of my have been a light in the darkness for me recently, and I feel like I haven’t been able to return your kindness. I sincerely hope that my writing can bring you some small amount of warmth or enjoyment, and I will continue to work to bring you something new!
Ahh, I don’t know... why do I suck at words? Just know that I love you all, you’re absolutely lovely, and I’m very thankful. 🥺🥰💜
tagging: I tag @sahmfanficbts because she’s amazing, and I’m always curious what goes on in that genius brain of hers! Other than that.. I don’t talk to many people.. but if you see this, and you’d like to do it, then I tag you! Please tag me if you decide to partake, I’d love to learn more about you!

Note
Not gonna lie but ever since I've read:
'Double Hazelnut Almond Milk Macchiato', I've been wanting to try it so bad but I don't have time to go to a cafe and get one. The way that Hermione was her typical know-it-all self and Ron being his laid back and never back down self made it so adorable. Hermione knew what Ron was purposely doing but she still came back for more of the Redhead ( I mean coffee ;) ). The revelation at the end was perfect. I can just imagine Ron's face and Hermione trying to bite back a smirk but failing miserably.
I loved reading that drabble it seems so real, almost as if I was magically transported to that small cafe. You have an amazing talent!!
Hope to read more of your writing, you are my favorite Romione fanfic writer. You always manage to make me laugh with your humor and surprise me time and time again with your scenery. I've read lots of your fics and I cant wait for future fics (that's whenever you want to of course).
Do you have a favorite Romione fic? Also when you write fics, does the scenes and dialogue come naturally or does it take 7-10 business days like it takes me to come up with a new paragraph for a wip? I got about three different romione fics (dabbles and one multi chapter) but its difficult to stay concentrated on one, when I just want to finish all of them.
I've been trying to write and post fics but it's hard to manage the time and hard to quit adding and re-adding different outcomes. Not sure if that happens to you but it happens to me way to much.
So, so very sorry for the long ask. Hope it's not making you uncomfortable.
Thanks again for writing fics and again I hope to read more or if one day I get over my nerves maybe you can give me advice in improving my writing? Unless your busy you can give me a recommendation on someone else, no hard feelings if your not able to.
Thanks for being you!
(P.s I love your sense of humor and the way you bring those two stubborn love birds together in different ways)
Hi. Wow. Okay. Where do I start?
You are my favorite anon ever. Like EVER. Also, little secret, I have never had a Double Hazelnut Almond Milk Macchiato before, I completely made that up, but it's totally a thing because someone told me they went and got one and it was pretty good! I'm so glad you liked that ficlet and I'm happy to tell you it's inspired a very weird and meta multi-chap that's holiday themed and tropey as fuck and I think you're gonna like it. It's called Do You Believe In Magic? and it's dropping November 2021 and I'm going to dedicate it to you.
Do I have a favorite Romione fic? UGH. I DON'T KNOW. I LOVE IT ALL. I feel like I can't name just one because I am so amazed by the romione writers and their talent. Every writer is so unique and I love reading because it's like getting a little peek into the inner workings of someone's brain. I'm sorry this is such a cop-out answer.
7-10 business days! YES. That is so accurate. You seem a lot like me, tbh. My brain is all over the place and writing fanfic is where I let my adhd go unchecked and sometimes that means I don't write for weeks and other times I churn out something magical and other times I write a heaping pile of shit. It's all part of the process. I can churn out a 5k chapter in one sitting if I'm totally lost in the story, but that's rare, and there's nothing more grueling that writing something you're not into. That reminds me of school and I hated school haha. Recently I've started a goal of writing 100 words a day, and it's been great because it's enough to know if I'm in the zone, or not feeling it. If I'm in the zone, 100 words turns into 1000, and if I'm not feeling it, there's no pressure to write more. I just want to finish my fics too, but what's the point? I'll know I'll just start another ;). Enjoy the process!
I truly hope you get over your nerves and reach out again! I'd love to help any way I can! I'm also low key DYING to know who you are (other than my new favorite person). Honestly though, my best advice right now is just to write and not worry about if it's "good" and read as much as you possibly can.
Again, you are so awesome. I love you. And no this didn't make me uncomfortable, it made me so happy.

Fic Writer Questions!
I was tagged by @closetfascination! Thank you <3
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
I have 26, at the moment. I'd already written a lot before I started posting on AO3, though.
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
Currently 232911 words.
3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
On AO3 specifically, I’ve written for 13 Reasons Why and Harry Potter so far. But I used to write RPF back in the day, for a lot of different fandoms/ships.
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Then whatever the future holds
"Maybe you're not that young, after all."
Halloween parties are definitely (not) the worst
Of Fairytales and Happy Endings
Summer Haze
5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Yes! I always respond to comments and I honestly don't understand writers who don't. Whenever I get a comment, I'm always so amazed that I managed to speak to someone through my writing, I just have to go there and send some appreciation back.
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
"We can't go back to where we were." is actually the only fic I currently have on AO3 with an angsty ending. And still, only because it's part of a fill-in-the-gaps series and I couldn't really avoid dealing with canon events. But I usually avoid angst like the plague.
7) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
All my stories have happy endings, but if I had to pick one, I'd go with The one with Sparkles and the Dog Shelter. There's fluff AND pets, it can't get happier than that.
8) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I'm not really a fan of crossovers, so no.
9) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I haven't so far, thank goodness.
10) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I wrote it a few times ages ago but I honestly don't know if I'm still able to write it nowadays.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of???
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but I did translate a bunch of fics into my language years ago.
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, but like, about 15 years ago or something, and we had no idea what we were doing and the whole thing was definitely trash lol I've turned into a very nitpicky, very (self-)critical writer through the years, though, I don't think I could co-write anything with anyone these days.
14) What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I don't have a single answer for that. I've been in various fandoms for so long now, and to some, I always end up returning, while others I just let go without looking back. I think I've had different favorite ships for different moments of my life, and I still love and appreciate each of them, even if I don't read about them anymore. I don't think I can choose only one.
15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Probably my Glimpses into the universe of us series. All the stories it currently contains are complete, but I'm not so sure I'll get to write the series up to the point I originally had planned. But if it's about a single fic, I have a platonic Cissy/Bella story that I fully outlined and wrote about two or three chapters before dropping it. This was about 8 years ago. It still bothers me because the premise was really something.
16) What are your writing strengths?
feelings feelings FEELINGS, light humor, and introspections, I think.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Descriptions always kick my ass. I spend so much time writing about how characters feel that I forget to depict their surroundings. Also, I'm not good with writing angst. I don't think I particularly write it badly but it's not something I enjoy writing, so I always try to skip it.
18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
If it fits the plot, why not?
19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter.
20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
My favorite fic ever was a multi-chaptered RPF AU thriller/romance, but it isn't available anywhere anymore. Among the ones that are currently still online, I have to say Summer Haze. I remember writing it so unpretentiously, just to get this idea that was nagging at me out of my head, and it was so well-received back when I posted it, in a way I definitely wasn't expecting. So I think it's more about the happy vibes that it brought me, but that ended up turning it into a favorite for me.
I'm not tagging anyone specifically but feel free to do it, y'all!

Writing Tag Game!
Tagged by @my-soliloquy-chamber
How many works do you have on AO3?
Just 5 humble fics. All but one are oneshots. Ok one is actually a twoshot but...
What’s your total AO3 word count?
29069 (at the time of this post)
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Blessed by the Gods at 95
Patches at 75
Remembrance at 52
Flowering at 26
Under Your Scars with a humble 9
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Of course I do! Why wouldn’t I? Unless its hate or troll comments, but thankfully I don’t get those....
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Uhh... Remembrance. It has a bittersweet ending.
Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the strangest one you’ve written?
No. I’m not big on crossovers, at least ones that are meant to be taken seriously. However if they’re done for humor, or the crossover genuinely makes sense for the world to crossover. (for example Kingdom Hearts and any animated kids movie)
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Once. A long time ago when I was just STARTING to write fanfic as a teenager. It actually stoped me from writing ANY fic until fairly recently. Tragic really, because it’s likely I could’ve improved SO MUCH as a writer. I’ll admit, the fic I wrote back then WAS bad, but it was a simple Canon/OC oneshot I wrote while bored in school. And this was also back when Canon/OC ships were “cringe” “instant Mary-Sue” (which the OC of the fic was called), and just in general looked down upon.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I have NEVER written a single line smut EVER! I...honestly don’t know IF I ever will. It would end up being a matter of if I’m COMFORTABLE writing such scenes, which, if you asked me that 5 or 10 years ago, I’d say “EW GROSS! No way!” However now...I’m not entirely sure...
But I have been told once IF I did, I’d probably write some really good stuff. Apparently Aces and/or Aros can be like...scary good at writing sex and romance.... I know if I did, I’d focus primarily on the INTIMACY and SENSUAL aspect of it as that is sooooooo much more interesting to me than just raunchy, kinky, hard sex. I’d prefer to write “love-making” and not “fucking”. Yes there IS a difference IMO. The former allows the characters to show more of their characters, what they like, don’t like, exploring each other, LEARNING about each other and bonding closer!
I will NEVER write dub-con/rape scenes EVER!!!!! I don’t wanna read it OR write it...
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Once. LOOOOOONG time ago. I found it and confronted the “author”. It was straight up PLAGERIZED. They just changed the name of the character. Worst part was that it was a GIFT FIC for someone else and their OC! Thankfully the thief DID take it down and apologize.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope. Never thought about it honestly, but it sounds like it could be fun so long as there’s plenty of communication to make it coherent.... unless you want it to be an absolute disaster for funsies.
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Of ALL TIME? Uhhh.....I don’t really know. I’m not the biggest shipper to be honest. But frankly the one I’ve shipped the longest, since discovering “shipping” almost 20 years ago, would be Zutara (Zuko/Katara of Avatar the Last Airbender)
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Weeeeeeeell.... I’m HOPING Under Your Scars DOESN’T become this.... otherwise... hmm... Probably the Voltron Fix-it-Fic I started writing a few years ago, but never posted, because I essentially rage-quit the series. (the ONLY show I’ve rage-quit!)
What are your writing strengths?
I’m not sure honestly... Maybe writing (non-sexual) intimacy between characters? No one’s ever really told me what I’m GOOD at in my writing...
What are your writing weaknesses?
FINISHING A MULTI-CHAPTER FIC!!!! I’ve NEVER been able to do it! I hope I will be able to finish Under Your Scars.
Also, fight scenes. Like, I understand HOW to write them, but it’s writing the... “choreography” of the fight. Like...what moves are used, how its reacted to or countered, etc.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Uhm...for dialogue? Sadly I’m not bi or multilingual, and don’t trust Google translate to be accurate enough. So, unless it was a single word or phrase taught to me by a native speaker of that language, I wouldn’t use it. But I’d be sure to give a translation of course. Whether in the author notes, or have a character translate it in the story.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
I....think it was some (terrible) Kingdom Hearts fanfic I wrote with two friends in highschool, circa. 2007-2008...
The second was an ATLA fic (the one that got the hate comment)
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
You DARE ask me to choose? Might as well ask a parent who their favorite child is! But seriously, I....really don’t know or have a fav... There’s different things I like about all the stuff I’ve written.
I’m tagging.... whoever wants to do this....

author interview tag game
thank you for the tag, @pandora15! <3
Name: caroline
Fandoms: mostly the clone wars, but i also have some marvel stuff, and waaay back in the day, i wrote some doctor who and merlin stuff!
Where you post: primarily on ao3! i mostly just write on tumblr when i’m accepting prompts from like...ask games or something.
Most Popular Oneshot: real
Most Popular Multichap: to these memories (this fic only recently hit 1k kudos, and my heart?? w h a t)
Favorite Story You’ve Written: def. to these memories because a) longest fic i’ve ever written, and b) oh, the hours i logged into writing this fic, and c) oh, the outlining that went into this fic...i’m very proud of myself for completing the fic, and of course, i credit this to everyone who showed their lovely support for the story. :’)
Fic You Were Nervous to Post: uhhh definitely too far just because it’s...rather personal. i sometimes say that there’ll be a scene or two or just straight up a line or two that’s plucked out of my real life, and i think it’s inevitable for writers of any kind, including fic writers, to isolate their real lives completely from whatever they’re writing, and?? this fic is probably the most personal for me because of that. i remember kinda hem-hawwing about posting it, because i was like whoa, maybe this is a little too personal? but then i steeled myself and was like, “okay, well, would this have lifted my spirits when i needed a story like this??” and then decided to post it.
How you choose your titles: i def. toss and turn between titles! there’s a few fics of mine that are straight-up song lyrics (no surprise there), but to my surprise (as i was looking through my catalogue of fics just now), i realize that a lot of my fics are usually just words or two about what i think might have been extremely important to the story. (or captures the overall tone/theme of the story, anyways.)
Do you outline? for multi-chapter fics and relatively long one-shots with lots of moving parts, i’ll outline. but for shorter one-shots and prompts, i’ll usually just stick with the image that compelled me to write the prompt/one-shot in the first place! (and then kinda write around that.)
Complete: uhhhhh, i’m gonna answer relatively for all my clone wars fics, because in total, i have 74 completed fics. (make that...75, hopefully in a few minutes or hours!) but out of clone wars fics, i have 46 completed fics! (and again, hopefully 47 in a little while.) a part of me is lowkey hoping that i’ll get up to 100 total fics by the end of this year. a part of me highly doubts it, but given how much i was able to write over summer break, i’m...intruiged if i wind up somehow writing another twenty or so fics by the end of this year. (asfsf my wip list is long enough to fill in for another twenty fics. caroline finish all your wips challenge.)
In Progress: okay, so officially, time, wondrous time is in progress and online. but in terms of the works in progress on my laptop...i have...*mutters, counting* fourteen official wips. (ten of them are one-shots, and the other four are longform fics. one of them, i’m hoping to release next week (!!!), and another, i’m hoping to release hopefully around mid-december. uhhh so fingers crossed??)
Coming Soon/Not Yet Started: oops, i guess i kinda already answered that question, but eh, might as well! the one coming out next week (hopefully!! caroline get your shit together challenge!!) is titled most ardently, and it’s an obitine au based off pride & prejudice because i cannot and will not shut up about obitine being the period drama ship out of star wars okay--
and then the other longform fic that is very overdue is called getting lost in a big galaxy, which is a fix-it of sorts taking place after season 5. anakin’s gone missing, and obi-wan winds up going on a galaxy-ride road trip with ahsoka (who, remember, has left the order) to find their idiot. this is honestly my excuse to just write more obi-wan and ahsoka content. hopefully, that’ll be posted in december!! (despite the fact i...originally meant to post it in august oOps.)
and then there’s this other longform fic which...might be coming in early 2021 called red, underlined, which is essentially...uh. everyone’s a stressed out law-school student, and anakin might have accidentally murdered professor palpatine, and now anakin, obi-wan, ahsoka, padme, and rex are all trying to find out what the hell to do with themselves because they’re all in on it. (def. influenced by how to get away with murder except without the criminal justice professor to lead them through the ropes. so more chaos. kind of a dark comedy vibe, if anything else? anakin no is major theme in this one. uh, i mean, maybe anakin was justified in murdering creep palpatine because our gang’s gonna find out what was going on in the background, but either way! lots of “holy shit are we good people are we bad people what are we doing”. lots of questions about morality! ethics! law school student study nights with anakin sprawled out on the floor and obi-wan wearing glasses (which he pushes up the bridge of his nose whenever he’s about to lecture anakin that no, that’s not how that statute works, dumbass) and ahsoka just bringing snacks and rex catching paper airplanes and padme being the one to supply everyone with very neat flashcards. this fic is gonna be an absolute beheamoth, and i’m estimating about 45 chapters? like...130K+ words? help? yeah idk either this really blew up in my head
and then...this stupid, wonderful, boring, amazing job, which is...office x tcw au. only not? it’s very, very loosely based off the office, but not really. obi-wan moves in as a new manager of a company, and we’ve got anakin being like “lol new guy i’m gonna mess with him”, and ahsoka being the one who’s both like “please don’t mess with our new boss” but also being like “actually, wait, lemme help”, rex being in hr and being like “i don’t get paid enough for this”. (also there’s some parts that are written like actual interviews like you would find in the office, so there’s this one bit where uhhh
Obi-Wan flicks his eyes to the cameras in silent question before turning back to Ahsoka. “Well, if you need to call maintenance, then I hardly think you need my permission—”
“Thanks!” Ahsoka says quickly, and she’s about to disappear from the doorway when Obi-Wan stands up.
“Wait, Ahsoka, what exactly—”
Ahsoka re-appears at the doorway. “Oh, right,” she says. “Um—maybe just stay away from the men’s bathroom for a little bit.” She pauses.
“Actually, just stay away from them for the rest of the day.” She hovers by the door for a minute longer, and then she adds quickly, “And maybe also avoid the breakroom. Everything’s fine!”
And with a perfectly not-fine smile, Ahsoka disappears from the doorway.
Obi-Wan stares at where Ahsoka was just a moment ago, and the he turns to the cameras in disbelief. “Did she just—” Unable to finish his own sentence, Obi-Wan starts out the door. “Ahsoka?”
The camera follows Obi-Wan out of the conference room and into the breakroom. There are only muffled shouts—Anakin’s shouts, and then Rex’s, and then Ahsoka’s frantic “no, sorry, everything’s fine!”, and then Obi-Wan’s loud, “What is going on in here?”
surprise y’all just got a snippet i’m sorry can you tell i’m weirdly into this au?? i need to rewrite some scenes but uh there you go
Prompts: for the most part, yes! i have some stuff in my faq about prompts that i’ll probably turn down (mostly anything that’s...above a certain rating/really, realy heavy themes that i just don’t think i can tackle with justice or with enough education on my end). i can be a little slow with prompts, but i’ll get to all of them in time!
Upcoming Work You’re Most Excited About: uhhhh i have too many that i’m excited about. literally i can write a mini essay on every single one of the fics i’m working on? but uhhh i guess since i already talked about all my major longform fics above (asdfasdfsd didn’t mean to do that, i’m so sorry for everyone who had to scroll past that word-vomit), i guess the one i’m most excited about releasing is the post season 7 obi-wan-and-ahsoka-finally-talk-about-how-they-miss-each-other-also-sorry-for-fighting-with-you-i-know-you-were-just-trying-your-best fic. (not a whole ton of spoilers for this one, but uh. i’m looking at some of these scenes and making frustrated sounds because there’s this one particular instance where i’m like, ahsoka. ahsoka just talk to him just ta lk to him but then lol no talking :)) also maybe some h/c? lowkey sickfic might be involved in this somehow? might have accidentally served as a precursor to to these memories? help? this fic just ballooned. caroline keep your ideas contained challenge!)

Writerly contemplation tag!
tagged by the lovely @j-pping; thank you for the tag!
this might end up being long so I’ll add a read more cut ☺️
2020
what was the most challenging part of writing this year?
I guess the most challenging part of writing this year was tuning out the real world. I’ve always used reading and writing as a form of coping and escapism from all the things that were troubling me. Unfortunately there were times when simply reading and writing weren’t helping me and I took so many breaks, postponed so many WIPs I was excited about... I ended up beating myself down for not being able to keep up with an expectation I had for myself and my writing. Considering 2020 was hell for everyone, I came to terms with myself that it cannot be always my fault, I can’t blame myself for not being able to do things I set my mind to do, sometimes there are obstacles that take time for you to cross.
I’m just going to quickly mention stressful anons and hopefully get a point across for all fan fictions writers. WE ARE NOT ROBOTS. WE ARE HUMAN. All of us write for many personal reasons, mine are that I just love writing things which I wish to read! Simple as that. What I wish for some rude people to understand is that the least you could do for us creators is be thankful and be kind to us, give feedback and constructive criticism, share our work. I don’t understand why you are scared of the reblog button. When I go through my notes and take a look at some blogs, they are empty. No one is paying us to contribute creatively to the fandom, you are enjoying our content for free while we put hard work and our free time into it, so why should we “hurry up”, “update faster” and “write more/this/that”? Please, remember that we are people too, and the toxicity some people spread on anonymous asks is just incredibly baffling and hurtful to me. If you, as a reader, believe that my request is nonsense and my words are too harsh, then perhaps you should reconsider how you’re viewing content creators before disagreeing without a valid reason.
what was the most enjoyable/rewarding part of writing this year?
The happiness that came from writing something which I enjoyed reading as well! I have been a writer for years on another platform until I had to take a long hiatus because of writer’s block and depression. For how cheesy this may sound, the most enjoyable and rewarding part of writing is in fact writing something that makes me happy even if I’m torturing my characters and traumatizing them. There is truly no point for me to write things that I don’t feel I am enjoying. As I have said other times before on the blog, I would much rather post something that makes me happy, than post something just to get notes from silent readers.
what piece has left the most impact on you and why?
Given the fact that I have not written a lot because of my constant mental health breaks (yes 2020 had me on rollercoaster mental breakdowns more often than usual), I have to say that Damaged is what really kept me entertained with myself and perhaps sane. It has been way too long since I’ve taken on something so creative as building an entire universe from just a dream, but it’s what reminded me why I love writing so much, it reignited my passion. With this story I really wanted to challenge myself to write something unique, something I’ve never done before with any other work... And I admit it’s quite difficult; the easiest part was taking inspiration from EXO’s lore, but the hardest was incorporating it in a universe and storyline completely different to the original concept. It’s something I’m set on finishing as a complete multi-chapter story no matter how long it takes.
what have you learned about yourself through the process of writing in the past year?
To be completely honest, I learned that I can push myself out of my comfort zone when writing, because every piece is a fictional world of its own, every character can be more than a copy and paste personality. What do I truly learn about myself if I don’t explore things I have not thought about before? I learned that I should not be afraid to write of things that I don’t know or fully understand, specifically about things that I didn’t post but tried for just for fun. It is a good way of finding out whether a certain subjects interests me or doesn’t. I love doing lots of research and gather information for the stories I’m writing, you get to learn about stuff you usually would never think about.
how has your writing changed in the past year? how have you grown?
Well, I don’t really have anything to compare my writing to except my older fan fictions for movies and tv shows. I guess I have changed quite a lot since 2018; my writing style has become more fluid, at least I think it has. I’m also able to write longer chapters without feeling as if I am dragging it out for the sake of the word count, yet now I have to literally stop myself from just writing too much! It pleases me, to be honest. I remember struggling to sometimes put ideas into words and balance narrative, dialogue and descriptions.
2021
ignoring your wips for a second, if you had all the time and energy in the world to write your magnum opus piece, what would it be about? why is that the dream story you’d write, all other things controlled for?
This can go back to Damaged, honestly! It’s something that I haven’t finished writing and it will be a long story. It’s the fan fiction which has gotten me out of a 2-year-long writer’s block with such strength, I feel truly attached to it. As I mentioned in one of my first answers for 2020, this is the WIP I want to focus on the most and be proud of it.
how do you want to grow in your writing this year?
I mentioned this is my first 2021 post after I took a short break, but one of my resolutions for this year is to work on self acceptance when it comes to my projects. (I’ll copy and paste what I wrote there so I don’t repeat myself with other words) One of my resolutions for 2021 is to write more, to not be afraid of beginning something and even if I end up setting the story aside, at least I will have gotten it out on (digital) paper. I punish myself way too much when I’m not able to finish something, and that is truly one of the worst things a content creators can go through, in my opinion. I have many drafted works that may or may never be published and I wish to appreciate them more instead of dwelling on the fact of what they could have been.
what’s one thing you’d wish to see in the fan-writing community this year?
I wish for more love and recognition of the amazing and talented writers that share their content with everyone on tumblr. We are a community, or at least we are supposed to be. I would absolutely love to see more readers actively interacting with writers, share ideas, share art inspired by what you read! As readers, you can contribute as well by sharing moodboards, song recommendations and/or playlists! You are more than welcome to join us in the community as writers too!
As for myself, I have mentioned this towards last year but I still want to compile a list of all the writers I am currently following and read their works. I haven’t been in a good mindset to do that for a long time and I wish to get to know them. I’m a pretty shy person who struggles to start up a conversation, so I hope I get to make some friends on tumblr this year!
name one new thing you want to try doing in your writing this year.
I would like to make a list of aus and experiment with them for either one shots or some short series! I have so many creative ideas and thoughts but I always forget to take a note or maybe I’m doing something else and I end up getting caught up in a stream of consciousness, until I lose the initial spark. Also mentioned plenty of times, I would love to write for other groups, like nct, but for now I’ll focus on exo.
✨✨✨
anyway, that was it for my writerly contemplation tag!
I’m tagging a few fellow writers, but feel free to ignore for any reason! sorry if I forgot someone but feel free to do this even if I didn’t tag you!! @pororodks @velvetsehun @yeoldontknow @yeagerluvr @soos-goddess @shaalk @mooneylooney1 @dewbebe

I was tagged by @ibarbourou - thank you my dear!
Author name: LeapAngstily
Fandoms you write for: football RPF (a bit of Downton Abbey in the past and some anime stuff waaayyy past that no one should be able to connect to my profiles anymore)
Most popular one-shot: The Stupid and the Hopeless. Maybe unsurprisingly, my only two Downton fics beat all my football stuff by both hits and kudos/comments, despite also being about a more marginal ship.
Most popular multi-chapter: For my Reality (by kudos) or It’s Not a Cry (it’s cold and it’s broken) (by hits). Two very different types of works, with the former being the last part in a series where I first tried to tackle the issue of being in the closet and coming out as a footballer, and the latter being-- what it is, really. I still find it hilarious how I thought no one would go for unhealthy Pippo/Monto BDSM only to find out it was exactly the kind of marginal shit that I needed to write for new people to click on my stuff.
Favorite story you wrote: I might be biased because it’s the work I’ve been working on most recently, but I’m very fond of If I go now, I'd look for another you. I think it’s the best stuff, style-wise, that I’ve ever put out, even if it’s not quite finished yet.
Among the completed stuff, I really like Everything There Is To Know because it was one of those “indulge yourself” type of stories that I needed to see written and knew no one else would do it, and Off To The Waves (they roll) for the whole outrageous AU premise that is mer!Monto. I really love my brain sometimes.
How do you pick your titles: Often I nick some vaguely connected song lyrics (usually something I’ve been listening to while writing) or just pick some theme that comes across strongly in the story and base the title on that.
Do you outline: Very rarely. I might write down a few bullet points if it’s a big multi-chaptered idea, but mostly the ideas are only in my head until I start writing. I have used timelines a couple of times in the past, especially while working on non-chronological stuff, but it’s rarely methodical.
How many of your stories are complete: 92/95, not counting the stuff I haven’t started posting yet.
Upcoming story you are the most excited for: I’ve mentioned the Rino/Monto love/hate thing set during the year-that-we-do-not-talk-about once or twice before. It’s gonna be so angsty and very much in my lane, I can’t wait to actually write it!
In-progress: The final chapter for If I go now... has been a long time coming, and I promise I’ll tackle it again as soon as I can pry myself out of the clutches of the novel manuscript (which is obviously my other big WIP for now).
Coming soon: Brand new installment of Porn with Peerlo (which really should be accepted as a fic category in its own right), featuring Pippo and the glorious draw he and Benevento pulled vs J*ve.
Do you accept prompts: Technically yes, but only if they fit my very narrow lane because I’ve realized over the years I just cannot motivate myself to write about players/characters I’m not invested in.
Tag five fanfic authors to answer the questions: Who hasn’t done it/been tagged yet? @hendos @capitanogiorgio @itsadrizzit? I literally have no writing community, so I have no idea who to tag. If you see this and want to do it, please go ahead!
