Evening all :) This is the second to last ep of s2. Unreal. I LOVE this episode. For so many reasons. I think its underrated which tends to be some of my fav moments and eps with them. Love this one for couple reasons. One of them being we’re re-tapping into why Tim is the best T.O. for Lucy. Little more look into Tim’s growing feelings for her. Also their continual growth as friends and their deepening bond. I love them so much. Like I said already this ep is underrated and one of my favs and you’ll see why. Let’s get started on this goodie.

2x19 The Q Word

We start off with Lucy's alarm going off for her shift. She turns it off saying how she doesn’t want to work today. (Me either girl...) We see she has a special guest with her. Heh. It's Emmett. Dude still fine as hell. Guess she finally took him up on his offer. Damn girl proud of you cashing that card in haha Way to come back into the dating world.

He tells her to be few minutes late continues on to say ‘Bradford's chill’ LMFAO Not even a little and definitely not with training Lucy. You'll experience that soon enough and see how wrong you are sir. Lucy tells him she’s in the final stretch of her training. Just 30 more days and she’ll be free. (Like you really wanna be free of Tim…we'll let you believe that though.) She is excited to be free of the mind games, Tim tests and being chewed out in public. I can’t blame her there even though it molded her into who she is now as a cop.

Emmett jumps on the chance about making her late after her probation. Lucy has to basically say down boy LOL It’s honestly really nice to see how happy she is. Like I said in the last ep with Tim. With not being Lucy level happy. In this case not Tim level happy or comfortable but nice to see none the less. She clearly has allowed herself to not let Caleb drag her down as much anymore. That's a massive victory for her. Should be noted and appreciated.

Can truly appreciate the relationships they had prior and what they had to give to them before they’re together. Lucy NEEDED someone like this post-Caleb. Needed a sweet goober. I am thankful for the role Emmett played in that. Helping her start to move past Caleb and the damage he inflicted. Her commitment issues showing themselves hard when she asks him to play it cool if they run into each other. To keep them on the DL. Also I don’t blame her she’s in the home stretch of this. Wants to do a final focused push to complete her training as well.

We get to roll call. Grey announces today is the rookies one year mark in the program. He tells them congratulations on not washing out. Tim can’t help himself and poke the bear. Saying ‘We’ll see’ that shit eating grin of his and heart eyes I can not. How proud he is of her projecting off him.

Excuse me sir you’re doing a work flirt right in front of everyone. Look at the way he’s looking at her when he says it. A blind person could read his intentions. Her reaction is perfection. Like she can’t believe he’s doing their banter unabashedly in front of roll call… for all to see LOL Our marriage scene of the episode please enjoy.

Grey says this is the start of their 30 day push. To remind them they’re not there just yet. That they shouldn’t be celebrating until they cross the finish line. Pretty much a foreshadowing for Lucy in this ep. All of them but mainly Lucy and the SL her and Tim have in this one.

Immediately following roll call we join them in their shop. Lucy mentions it’s weird they haven’t had any calls yet. Tim puts on his T.O. hat and barks ‘Crime doesn’t have a schedule boot.’ Lucy just smiles his T.O. company line having no effect on her. Tim notices it right away and asks ‘What she’s so happy about?’ Lucy plays it off says nothing. Can’t she just smile? Tim doesn’t let it go. (Wonder who he learned that from?)

Tells her she’s been doing it a lot lately is all...Lucy bites back she didn’t know being happy was an impediment to being a good cop. Tim remarks he’s just surprised she hasn’t talked his ear off about whatever it is. Tim Bradford speak for he actually wants her to. Whether he likes it or not he’s come to enjoy her sharing things with him. When she doesn't he gets antsy like in this scene. Questions what's going on with her.

Tim acts like he can’t stand how chatty she is. When really he can’t handle it when she isn’t sharing stuff with him. Doesn’t want to feel left out in her life. Especially since she "granted" him re-access to it in 2x17. (He always had it she just had to remind of that fact) Lucy doesn’t budge on any info. So Tim starts taking shots in the dark. Asking random questions. 'Did she rescue a kitten?' 'Adopt a star?' LMFAO Timothy what? Haha god I love this man.

Lucy tells him what early s1 Tim would’ve been thrilled to hear. That her personal life is none of his business. He smiles and says there’s hope for her yet. Ok Tim I’m sure that’s EXACTLY what you want. Smh. My god these two. Do they even realize how much flirting just went down in that interaction? The banter, the looks, the cute little smiles. Look at them in those last two gifs above. As transparent as glass. These idiots I love them so much.

If you needed to see their chemistry in one glorious shot. This is it. What a beautiful shot of these two. How the sun shines mostly on her is lovely nod to them as characters. They're checking in with one another silently as they hear a ‘shots fired’ call come over the radio. Processing the severity of the call together. The lighting is beautiful, the looks glorious, that silent communication ever present. I adore it.

They can hear how amped up the rookie on the radio is. Tim attaches them to the pursuit. Harper and Nolan attach themselves as well. Jackson hears his friends panicked voice. Tells Angela they we’re in the academy together. He the follows suit of the other two. Such an intense drive to where Chris and his T.O. are in pursuit.

Sadly Chris disobeys his T.O. to stay in cover while backup arrives. This kid has something to prove and leaves cover. His T.O. shouting at him to stay back. Unfortunately he’s shot instantly in the chest multiple times by their assailant. The guy takes off leaving Harper/Nolan to chase him as they arrive on scene. Tim and Lucy show up after all the chaos has ensued. Tim pulls Martinez Chris’s T.O. to the side. Says he’s going to need to talk to him since he was a witness to the shooting. Jackson decides to ride with Chris easing Martinez to go talk with Tim.

Tim then does what he does best. Deescalates the situation. This man is trying to justify himself to Tim. Tells him how he taught Chris better than that. That he’s made mistakes before but not like this. Tim is incredible in this moment. This scene shows us how good Tim is at his job. How important he knows training rookies is to T.O.’s Why Martinez is panicking like he is. Feels like he failed this kid and is spiraling.

Tim uses that common bond to get through to an emotionally heightened officer. He's coming off his rookie being shot. He's not seeing straight and blaming himself. So Tim calms him down using logic and listening to get the statement from him. The empathy and understanding that follow are a skill that was sharpened by a certain rookie of his. (So damn proud) He's trying to relay to him this wasn’t his fault. He doesn't need to defend himself to him.

I love how he relates to Martinez in this moment. All the while he is looking at Lucy. His words carrying extra weight to them. Almost like he's telling himself this as well as his fellow T.O.. This is hitting closer to home for him than he'd like. His look says so very much to anyone who is watching closely. Eric crushing it per usual saying so much with so little. The depth of how much he cares for her at this point. The man was gone for her long before they got together. (He just hasn’t been clued in yet about that fact.)

The way his eyes dart over to her while he’s comforting Martinez. What happened to this man is Tim’s greatest fear on the job. Not preparing Lucy enough and she gets hurt as a result. If he could only realize how much he’s already impacted her. She would not have survived 2x11 if not for his training of her. 'The Cop Eyes' he instilled in her to drop that ring for him.

She had the grit and determination all her own to survive no doubt. That 'No quit' paired with his training is why she made it. If you wanted to see Tim’s PTSD in action it’s this next portion. That deep fear of losing her the way he almost did back in 2x11. This next entire scene is screaming that PTSD from that. This moment a stark reminder for him that he could lose her just as quickly on the job due to a mistake. That it would be his fault. Again.

Some may think Tim is too harsh here. He’s being a dick etc. That’s not what I see here at all. I see a man in emotional panic. A spiral really. Talking to Martinez shook him more than he’s leading on. Watching his biggest fear happen to someone else is triggering his PTSD more than he'd like. We all know even with Lucy’s forgiving him how he’s still haunted by her almost death. Tim is still learning how channel his emotions. Lucy has opened a floodgate of having them and he hasn’t learned to control them just yet.

I can relate so very much. When you’ve repressed feelings for so long, then allow them to the surface they can be overwhelming. The anxiety of drowning in those emotions comes out in one of two ways. Anger or a complete shut down. For Tim anger is an old friend of his. He can’t seem to tamp down how this situation is making him feel.

Nor does he know how to deal with why it is. So he sees a small mistake she makes and lashes out. His current anxiety is manifesting into anger right now. His fear taking a life of it's own. Losing it on her over something he wouldn't necessarily been happy about but not to this current level of anger.

He is panicking because after the final 30 days elapses he won’t be by her side to protect her anymore. Its a harsh reality he isn't handling too well right now. Rios being shot bringing that into sharp focus. That this could happen to her without him there to guide her. So naturally he’s going to be hard on her especially in this moment. His way of controlling it and his emotions. He just watched a rookie get fatally shot and carted off to hospital due to a small error in judgement.

All those emotions and all that panic are coming through in spades in this moment. Tim isn’t handling his emotions about potentially losing her well. It more than shows in this scene. If he was trying to hold his emotional cards close to his chest about Lucy in this scene he failed miserably. It comes out when he asks her if she wants to end up like Rios? Showing his hand so much in this scene emotionally.

Now Emmett making the mistake of trying to intervene bites him in the ass badly. It’s bad for a couple reasons. The road to hell is paved with good intentions as they say. Reason one it was a terrible idea. Don’t get between Tim and his person. Emmett caught an emotionally exposed Tim and ran into an actual buzz saw doing this. Today was the WRONG day to interfere with him. Not gonna lie I do love Tim going all alpha on him. Saying she’s HIS boot. Destroying Emmett completely asking if 'He's got it? Before walking away.

Second reason it was not his best idea. Lucy. I adore her telling Emmett she didn’t need him to save her. Damn right you don’t. She is capable of defending herself especially with Tim. That's one of her super powers really. It was more embarrassing for Lucy he tried to step in to "protect" her. Not only that but mess with her work dynamic with Tim. She asked him to be cool at work and he wasn’t. Lucy makes sure he knows that before she takes off herself. She isn't a damsel in distress and lets him know. Leaving Emmett stunned.

Nolan and Harper get a finger print ID off the ditched car they pursued. They’re gearing up to break into Serj Derain's. Tim knows Lucy is shaken up for multiple reasons. Her friend Chris being shot, Him chewing her out and her mini fight with Emmett. He is always thinking of her first even when he doesn’t even realize he’s doing so. It's second nature at this point. He does this by resetting her mentally before they walk in the door of this man's house.

Saying how they already lost one cop today. She’s not going to be another. He refuses to lose Lucy by her potentially losing focus in this moment. This man just knows her like the back of his hand. It always floors me. Knows innately she needs these words of focus. That her mind is elsewhere and he needs it shifted back to the task at hand. The continuous proof of why he was the perfect T.O. for her. Tim reading her emotional state and directing her emotions. This is his version of taking care of her. By telling Lucy exactly what she needs to hear before they start this.

Her look of understanding after he dispenses his words of wisdom to her is perfection. Complete understanding of what he's saying and doing for her in this moment. ❤️ Everything this man does for her has her best interests at heart and ultimately to protect her. (Just like she does for him) It’s a beautiful thing to watch honestly. The two way support these two have for one another. This is an underrated moment for them. I wanted to expound on it. It shows that bond they have.

That even though they’re closer than they used to be with how she can sass him from time to time. When it comes down to it that instant respect she has for Tim and his guidance. It is evident in this scene. His wisdom is guiding her right now emotionally and she knows it. That when he is serious like this she takes notice and listens immediately. She would follow him into hell if he asked her to.

They get inside with no issues. He isn’t home and the house is cleared. They’re searching his home office. Lucy asks Tim what they’re looking for? He tells her anything that can tell them where he is. It’s then Tim runs across some disturbing info. Confidential Police files on the Derian’s. Makes sense why nothing has stuck to them now. Someone’s been leaking info to the Armenian mob. A dirty cop in their midst…

We rejoin them in their shop. Lucy asks if they can talk about earlier? So much has happened today he’s not sure what she means. Lucy says about Emmett. Tim is immediately defensive. Tells her nothing to say about it. He tried to tell him how to do his job. On today of all days. Tim says he doesn’t care if he’s her BF. Lucy instantly cuts him off and corrects him. Says he’s not. (ahhh Lucy your commitment issues are showing again my dear) Tells Tim he’s a little dead to her right now anyway. I’m sure in the back of Tim’s mind that gives him a little peace.

Then comes one of the best parts of the episode for them. In not so many words this scene is Tim revealing something. Showing Lucy he cares about her in the most Tim way possible. He voices in a much kinder way his fears from earlier in the ep. That yes she’s only 30 days from the finish line. What scares him is when she crosses it he won’t be there to keep her from washing out anymore. 'Or worse...' The way she looks at him when he says this *heart clutch* Tim Bradford speak for I don’t want to lose you.

He solidifies it by reinforcing yeah he’s going to be tough on her. That is a straight fact. Then rolls a compliment into it as well. (How far we’ve come. *wipes tear*) Tells Lucy he’s only doing that because he KNOWS she can handle it. No one one knows her better than he does. No one will ever look out for her best interests better than he will. Or will prepare her the way he can. He only has 30 days left with her. Tim is going to make her as sharp as possible. So he can let her go when the time comes. Only way he will have peace of mind is if he does it this way.

Lucy’s reactions says it all. Beaming a little as she explains how sweet it is. She knows how he struggles with his emotions. That he tends to show them through actions rather than words. The fact that he told her this means so much. Tim in a roundabout way, told her he cares so much for her he’s afraid losing her after they're no longer riding together. That he can't protect her anymore after that. So he’s going to do everything in his power to safeguard her from this jobs worst moments and possibilities like today.

She makes sure he knows how 'oddly sweet' she finds his words. Tim is trying to bite back a smile above. That sunshine of hers seeping in just a little bit more. Trying to be a grump and be like 'That's not what I meant' when that's exactly what he meant. Revealing more cracks in that emotional wall of his. God I love it so Much.

Lucy continues on and says he’s not the one she’s mad at right now. That’s she’s used to Tim. Then he does something S1 Tim would be appalled at. Gives her advice on her personal life. Doing it not to please her or get her to stop talking. But because he genuinely cares about her. Giving me all the feels in this one. My shipper heart may implode.

Tells her Emmett is a fireman. So naturally they’re idiots LOL He makes Lucy smile in a way only he can. Tim forges on saying they mean well and Emmett is a 'not bad fireman'. Tells her not to write him off just yet. That he meant well by it. Look at our boy. I’m legit beaming with pride as I write this. How far this man has come in 2 seasons hell just this season alone. Leaps and bounds all due to the the sunshine human to his right.

Lucy being herself can’t help but rib him about this. That the reason he’s giving her this advice is cause they’re friends. Honestly yeah. At this point they are. S1 finale was the start of the friends foundation but they weren't there yet. It was the beginning of that deeper bond of theirs and we’re nearing the end of s2. All that foundation has now been laid. The fruits of it are they are friends now.

Best part of this section Is he doesn’t even deny it really. He scoffs a little af first (denial isn’t just a river in Egypt Tim) but concedes at the end. The light in his eyes and the crooked smile. You know this man is happy to be considered her friend. Her confidant. Once again Eric saying so god damn much with so little. I’ll never be over how good he is with that. Like ever. Could go on for miles and miles but I won’t do that to you all haha That wraps up their scenes together in this one. SO much good content thought. Oh my lord.

Sadly Chris passes away and Jackson is distraught. Lucy being there for Jackson is so sweet. Taking care of her business with Emmett but putting him first. I love their friendship. I do admire he came over to apologize and say he was wrong. Saying she’s the strongest woman he knows. That the last thing she needs is a protector. Well you as her protector yes. sorry Emmett lol That role is not meant to be yours. She has her fierce protector already. Tim is that but her emotional protector first and foremost. I mean he would smash a dude's face in for her LOL but she doesn't need that. That's it for this one. Such a good episode for them I can not.

Side notes-Non Chenford

Longer than normal cause the entire episode is so good. The Chenford would’ve been enough but the ep being so good on top of it I’m happy.

Angela seeing Smitty’s cam footage LOL he’s such an idiot and we all love him haha sadly how she finds out Erin Cole is a dirty cop though. Or one of them…

The whole SL with Chris, Derians and Armstrong it’s so solid and stressful to watch baha his SL was shocking when I watched it the first time. Watching this squeaky clean cop fall from grace and become a dirty cop. Tragic af but compelling as hell.

Rewatching it through the eyes of knowing you can see how much he was giving away in his scenes. So sad the ending for Cole. Debt erasure is a huge motivator for most it’s truly so sad.

Watching John and Grace continue to fall apart sucks. I truly liked them more so than him and Bailey TBH. Their chemistry was evident.

Harper thanking John for all his help in getting her kid back. That she wouldn’t be here if not for him. The impact he had. Such growth for her. Since day one she has marched toward growth and where she is now. I adore her arc and how far she has come in this moment. Such an overall amazing episode. Hell of an ep before the finale.

played through citizen sleeper--

i first heard of this game through waypoint/remap radio, who were really really high on it. then more recently a friend played it and went "the writing ain't that good they should not have hyped it this much." so i went in with expectations tempered for the writing, and had a great time.

the prose has the flavour of small dev team, person who did the writing is not a full-time writer and/or didn't have access to an editor. some clunky phrasing, lots of little SPAG errors particularly in the dlc endgame. didn't bother me because of the warning i had but would have been frustrating to have gone in with "this is the best indie game writing of the past X years" as the rec. so thank you fish for having a bad time so i would have a good time

looooved the art.

i loved the mechanics: managing hunger/stability/clocks. the beginning through the point where you get rid of your tracker is the most thrilling part of the game, because you have so much pressure on you and so few resources to play with. i felt at sea or stalled out a couple times once i hit the later game and didn't have any actively ticking clocks counting down on me.

how you interact with your resource needs adds so much texture to the story. you have a set of dice you roll to perform actions, and you lose dice one by one as your physical conditions decline. there's one point where you have to make a bunch of rolls within a short timeframe, so i used my stabilizer much earlier than i would have otherwise so that i'd have the dice to make it work.

i fucked up multiple drives first because i didn't realize what would happen and then because i had too many things happen at once. i realized too late that the guy who lets you stay in his container has a clock that keeps coming back; i ruined lem and mina's initial chance to get on board the ship because i needed the money from working on the ship and didn't max out mina's babysitting clock by the time i completed the ship.

i'm still not sure if there's a way to stop ankhita from shooting that guy.

i found it so compelling to treat my sleeper as just a guy -- someone doing their best who fucks up, who tries to make up for it, who may not succeed, who is making their best guess judgment for what to prioritize. when i got my ticket for the ship leaving the eye, i gave it to lem and mina. my sleeper fucked it the first time with them, but they tried to make it up to them when the opportunity arose.

i didn't leave with bliss, and didn't leave on the ship, and didn't choose to assimilate with the gardener, and kept committing to the eye right up till the end of the dlc, when i chose to leave with sol. that felt right for my sleeper.

when you finish a storyline, the character who it's related to disappears completely from the world-- the node is gone. this feels jarring (positive) when the story ends badly: that's it; you don't get closure. it feels jarring (negative) when the story ends well. i don't get to keep talking to my friend who i helped? they're still right there. come on. all i get to do with emphis is buy dinner? no more chats with my man??? this makes the world feel emptier and emptier the more storylines you close out, right when it should feel more and more full of life, as your sleeper builds a life on the eye.

castor was maybe my fav running thread through the main game and dlc. great buildup on that guy.

entropy real. the sleeper's body is going to keep decaying and eventually they'll run out of stabilizer to keep it going. the eye is going to fall apart someday. the political and social state of the eye is temporary as well. this too will pass, whether you want it to or not.

i said recently to some friends about a piece of art, "this is well made but fungus object heads are so ten years ago." cannot express how tumblr user cannibalism is passé i felt saying this but it is true. and it is true again here for the fungal network. loved all the creepy node stuff, loved my friend the vending machine, gardener was fun but gardener is--i am sorry--so ten years ago. we gotta pick something else. we're done with mushrooms for now. i'm sorry.

i saw credits like three times before my final credits roll. on the one hand it would have been so frustrating to have to replay the whole game to get to the other endings, on the other it feels a little weird to get tossed right back into the world after the credits wrap. with a couple of these i was at a point of, well, okay, none of my current storylines are urgent and i have no clocks ticking down, so what now? do i keep noodling around? do i stop here?

well, i kept noodling, and i'm glad i did, because i really liked the dlc storyline. i often feel the "nobody is entirely right" thing in games doesn't work, but here it felt good. the three ember ships all with their own takes, the different factions on the eye, it is a mess and it feels right that my sleeper can help in one direction or another, can in fact change things pretty dramatically, but ultimately can't decide the fate of any huge group--they can just choose what they do with their life.

which is to say i like that if you release the gardener it doesn't stop the flux and it doesn't stop corporations from coming in force.

so: overall: art gorgeous. prose mid. actual storylines good. resource/time pressure good. could have used a little more nudging from the game in the slow periods. loved how my sleeper's personal journey ended up going.

Now let's see. 5 of my favorite fics I've written, hmmm.

I know no one asked for explanations but I'll give them anyway XD Here they are (these probably change depending on my mood), in no particular order even though they're numbered:

Lonely Stars Drifting In The Black (gen) Why is it fav? I of course CANNNOT go without mentioning this fic. My first, properly long fic that I finished. I remain so proud of what I achieved here and my commitment to writing it all out and FINISHING it. That used to be something so hard for me to do and I'm so proud of how I managed to write these complex relationships without sacrificing the character's morals. I-m still working on the series that sprouted out of it and I'm STILL so happy about the stories coming out of it. Fandom: Star Wars: Prequels Characters: Jango Fett & Obi-wan Kenobi Summary: It's an easy job, go in, get some information, and then Jango Fett can be on his merry way out of the disgusting Death Watch camp which he has nothing but contempt for. It WOULD be an easy job, that is if it weren't for the chained kid they've got, tied up like an animal… Jango sees red and nothing more. He'll make them regret the day they dared to lay hands on a child.

Of The Old Things Hidden In The World (gen) Why is it fav? I consider this one of my most self indulgent projects and I love it for this XD. It's a crossover but I take myself very seriously with it and that's one of the things I like so much about it. Could be silly but I don't let it be. I took a concept that I really liked (Merlin turning Aithusa human) and then I just REALLY ran with that idea. When I would usually hate miscommunication, this story is filled with it but it's purposeful and no one is being stupid about it. Fandom: Merlin BBC x Avengers MCU Characters: Aithusa, Merlin, Tony Stark, Natasha Romanoff & Clint Barton Summary: Merlin and Aithusa have weathered this world together since the long gone age of Camelot. But now Merlin is in grave trouble and there's nothing Aithusa can do to help him. Merlin has commanded him not to follow, not to help. If Aithusa keeps doing nothing at all, it'll soon break his heart, surely. But… this new age has heroes, perhaps they might help. After all, Hydra IS their problem, isn't it? The should be the ones to deal with it.

A Crime Of Passion (gen, but can definitely be read as shippy) Why is it fav? This story gave me SO much grief but since the MOMENT I conceived this story I've loved the idea and at the end (despite all the problems) I keep loving the result I got from it. I got some good narrative out of it and TENSION. Characters being forced to do something they don't want to my beloved. Fandom: Twilight Characters: Carlisle Cullen & Aro Summary: For the life of Edward, Carlisle Cullen must make a bargain with the devil of Volterra himself, the bargain though, is not at all what the Doctor thought it would be. (Canon Divergence from the end of New Moon)

After The Mist (pre-ship but SUPER gen vibes) Why is it fav? This ones OLD and you can see a lot of mistakes in the writing but I LOVE the interactions that I wrote and the relationship I was crafting. I like it so much, love the idea of the story, that I STILL want to finish it and give it the love it deserves. Fandom: Frozen ll Characters: Agnarr & Iduna Summary: After young Agnarr returns to Arendell that faithful day in the forest, there's a grief too deep inside his chest he cannot begin to comprehend it. But there's no time to dwell on it, he's a king now and he must act as such. Still, he is drowning, he's drowning all the time. Drizzle By The Sea (Gen) Why is it fav? Another VERY old work which I'm still very fond off. It captures one of the things I love writing the most and it's this little pleasures like walking in the woods or getting soaked by the rain. I find the feeling it produced beautiful and it makes me happy so, yeah. The execution is maybe a bit clumsy but I know what old me wanted to transmit. I keep coming back to this sort of writing and I hope I never stop cause it makes me feel alive and like the world is magic. Fandom: Teen Titans (cartoon) Characters: Robin & Jericho Summary: Jericho is a bit... weird. Robin can see in the way the sea captures his attention that there's a natural feeling and a sense of delight that he carries with him. It's contagious.

buzz buzz!

The alarm on your smartwatch goes off, giving you the signal that indicates the end of your shift.

It has already been 14 hours, and you stood up from your chair and did a stretch as you submitted the final report of one of the patients you had to deal with throughout the night.

You originally would’ve ended your shift 2 hours ago, if only one of the ER nurses didn’t call in sick this morning. You shrugged, it happens almost every fortnightly in your department, always being understaffed that is.

Packing up your belongings, you waved goodbye to all of your co-workers where some were just finishing up as you were while the others had just clocked in for the day and headed straight to your car.

To make matters worse, it was snowing pretty heavily as you made your way to your vehicle. You had to use your handy-dandy ice scraper to get rid of the snow that formed on the windshield and the sides of your car doors. With that, the first 10 minutes right after your shift ended were gone in the blink of an eye. You hopped into your car real quick and gave yourself a heavy sigh, hoping at least the car ride home wouldn’t be too bad.

Stepping onto your front porch, you dug into your backpack for the keys to your apartment. You wasted no time trying to unlock the door and quickly kicked your boots off as you closed the door behind you.

Making your way into the living room, you spotted the familiar figure laying down on the couch.

Your boyfriend, Daniel.

At the beginning of your relationship, the two of you would gladly wait for each other to arrive back home and chat away about how the day’s been for both parties. Now, getting a “welcome home” from your partner is already better than nothing.

However, tonight was different as you muttered those two words to your boyfriend laying down on the couch. Instead of responding, he stood up with his back facing you and muttered a deep “we need to talk” right back at you.

Already exhausted from your shift, you so badly wanted to ask him to save it till morning when both of you are in much better shape, but that won’t happen tonight as he wasted no time trying to make his way to you.

“I can’t do this anymore, Y/N. This relationship we’ve been having? I don’t see the spark nor commitment no more.”

“Please Daniel, what are you trying to imply here-”

“You work for 12 hours straight each day, God. Sometimes even more than that. I’m off to work while you’re asleep, and you're only back in the house during the wee hours of midnight. What happened to us spending quality time as a couple?”

Your boyfriend certainly had a point there. It has been months since the both of you truly had a good bonding time with one another. As work started piling up for you, you had to always sadly turn down the multiple ideas of your boyfriend’s well-planned dates and vacations.

Of course, he’d be frustrated and sad. But it was also his responsibility to understand your situation here. You’re a nurse gosh darn it, and he should know damn well how whenever duty calls, you can never say no. That is what he agreed with when you both started your relationship 3 years ago.

But apparently, the spark that the two of you have been sharing for the several years you both had up till now, has been completely burnt out.

“Let’s end this, Y/N.”

To say that you were in tears would be an understatement.

Hell, you have been bawling your eyes out for the past 2 hours and breaking down in your living room as your boyfriend left your shared apartment after a heated argument.

You kept blaming yourself, for how much you have ruined this once so-called perfect relationship you have built with your now current ex. Everyone around you said that you both were perfect for one another, that you both were a match made in heaven and the wedding invitations are bound to arrive at your friends and relatives' doorstep in another 2 to 3 years' time.

Including your best friend, Ju Haknyeon.

Feeling weak and vulnerable, you desperately needed a warm embrace, and to hear some comforting words from someone who cares about you deeply.

It was now 3 in the morning, and there was only one place you know that you’ll be accepted in.

You stood right outside of the door that reads Apartment 309.

You knew this apartment from the back of your mind. The drive route from your apartment, even up to the passcode or where the extra pair of keys are hidden on the front porch.

Instead of trying to open the door on your own, the owner of the apartment has already been expecting your arrival and they were the ones welcoming you at the front door instead.

The brunette male, wearing a white t-shirt with black sweatpants, opened up the door for you. His eyes widen as he examines your red swollen eyes, puffy cheeks, and a wet soaked nurse uniform you were still wearing.

Before he could ask you what happened, you were pushing the male into the apartment while slamming the door shut with your leg. Guiding him all the way to his bedroom and pinning him down on his bed. You climbed over him and were about to kiss him right on the lips.

What was going on in your mind? Has the break-up made you feel a sudden surge of lust towards your best friend? Desperately wanting a hug and a kiss to see if it could make you feel better or at least forget about your ex.

But the male was clearly stronger than you were and he turned the tables over within seconds, and now you’re the one who’s being pinned down on the bed instead.

“Y/N, what is this all about?”

With that one sentence, you then broke down into tears again, leading the male to pull you up and hold you tight against his embrace.

It’s been a while since Haknyeon has witnessed you in such a fragile state, the last time probably being in college when you and your ex were going through some tremulous times to fight against all odds in order to be together.

And he hated it. Hated how vulnerable you were at that moment. He hated seeing you cry the most.

Especially when he still had feelings for you after all these years.

After calming down for a bit, you finally fill Haknyeon in with all that has happened the past few hours prior. You can’t help but to sob and sniffle from time to time and Haknyeon manages to wipe away your tears and calm you down each time.

Without having much thought, you blurted out “Haknyeon, be my boyfriend” right there and then.

Deep down you know very well that this was your best friend’s dream for the longest time, and he would definitely be delighted to accept the offer.

Or will he?

What you didn’t expect was the straight rejection he gave you right after you said that.

“Why not Haknyeon? You’ve had your eyes on me and loved me since day one of high school. Isn’t it always your dream to date me?”

“Y/N. I love you with all my heart. Hell, I would give up anything if it’s for you and to make you the happiest girl alive. But not like this.”

Haknyeon then lets you out of his embrace and cups both of his hands on your cheeks, staring deep into your eyes.

“I want you to love me when you’re at your best. I want you to truly see the man that I am, and how much I’ve grown. I want you to truly make up your mind because I will not let you go when you’ve decided to begin a relationship with me. I want you to love me right.”

You have been crashing at Haknyeon’s apartment most weekends for the past two months, and he couldn’t be happier if it makes you feel better.

During the weekdays though, Haknyeon would make the effort to come to visit you instead while bringing you the best take-out meals from all of his favourite restaurants in town. Your best friend clearly does not mess with food.

Knowing how messed up your eating schedule was, he has even taken the initiative to plan out your diet.

No consuming those nasty junk food when you’re already low on sleep.

You’d constantly be reminded of your bestie’s words every single time you’re about to head to the drive-thru at Mcdonald's at two in the morning after your shift at the hospital.

Tonight was different though as your manager informs you that you get to finish your shift way earlier than your usual post, as your department is getting a handful of transferred nurses from the capital. That was good news especially how your hospital has been understaffed for like two to three years now.

And that 2 - 3 years had to be the time when you were with your ex.

You shook off the negative thoughts you had in mind and quickly got out your phone to text Haknyeon about you coming home early for the night.

You were certain he was definitely on his phone when you sent the message because it took him less than a minute to give you a reply.

Hakkie 🐷: sweets!! I’ve had a big night planned ahead of us, can’t wait to see you at home 😊

You can’t help but smile at the message, thinking about how cute he was at times when he was all giddy and excited, which makes you wonder if you both are really the same age at all.

Your co-worker noticed your excitement and how a big sincere smile was plastered all across your face. It has been a while since you’ve been this jovial anyways.

“You got a date tonight?” She nudges your shoulder while giving you a wink.

Smiling back at your co-worker, you looked back down at your phone staring right at the newly changed picture your friend has chosen for his iMessage profile.

“I guess you can say that.”

“Woah Haknyeon, what on earth have you done with your apartment?”

You were astounded by what your best friend has done. The entire living room has been cleared out and Haknyeon took the largest blanket he owned and turned it into a fort. A comfy throw was laid out nicely on the floor with pillows scattered above it. As a finishing touch, fairy lights were hung around the blanket to give it that true cosy movie night experience.

“You sure are an ambitious young man.” You replied.

“Since when have you ever gotten off work this early Y/N, I’d say this calls for a celebration, and of course thank heavens that tomorrow is the weekend!!”

“Okay okay, kiddo. What are we watching tonight?”

“Big Mouth, the infamous K-drama everyone’s been talking about recently.”

“And why is that?”

“Well, both you and I are huge fans of crime shows, and we love Im Yoon-ah, so I’d say it’s a win-win situation!”

“More like you are the one who’s obviously obsessed with her.” You protested.

You couldn’t help but laugh at your bestie's enthusiastic comment. Eventually, you gave in and decided to make yourself comfy. Haknyeon went ahead and made some warm honey butter tteokbokki in his so-called best portable pot that he owned. Of course, a comfy night movie wouldn’t be complete without a warm mug of cinnamon latte according to the food master himself.

You never expected to have enjoyed the drama this much as it’s been such a long time since you've been to the cinemas, let alone watched a tv series or show at home. You missed this feeling of excitement as you engross yourself in the show’s plot, and of course, having someone to share the same experience with you in the same room.

As the show progressed, you can’t help but have tears well up in your eyes whenever a sad or frustrating scene appears on the screen. Haknyeon notices your demeanour and quietly puts an arm around your shoulder. Naturally, you decided to lay your head down on his shoulder. None of you said anything but just enjoyed this little comforting moment you both were having.

Haknyeon truly was your best friend, you definitely didn’t deserve a fine young gentleman like him.

“So where are we off to this time Mr Ju?”

It was another rare occasion where you’ve gotten a day off from work as your manager has seen all of the extra hours you’ve accumulated over the past several months.

Since the hospital wasn’t understaffed anymore, your manager has even managed to free up your Sundays from now on. It definitely has improved your physical and mental health as compared to your previous self when you were working 14-hour shifts straight for 7 days a week.

Your best friend was beyond ecstatic to find out that you’re free for the day, and he wasted no time coming to pick you up early in the morning, insisting on bringing you on a day trip.

So now you are sitting in Haknyeon’s car, and god knows where he’s bringing you to because he wouldn’t tell you what the itinerary even was for the day ahead.

It was now the beginning of summer, and Haknyeon clearly was taking you somewhere away from the city. Both of you passed all of the highways and eventually ended up on a riverside road just a little outside of Seoul.

It was kind of a long drive, around 4 and a half hours to be exact. Many times you’ve offered to take over the wheel, but the male insisted that he was fine and you deserve to be in the passenger seat instead.

“Rude Haknyeon, I’ll show you that I’m just as good as a driver like Sangyeon and Jacob oppa.” You pouted and crossed your arms.

“Yeah, rather convincing, Y/N. Remember how you were desperately calling for me in the middle of the night back during your first year in college when your car swerved right into a tree because you got too nervous to drive on your own? And oh, may I add, you were also crying over the phone and it took me a good minute to try and figure out whatever you were trying to tell me.”

“Shut up. We don’t talk about that.”

Haknyeon was clearly winning this whole debate, and he begin singing his lungs out on his so-called victory song, Young Tak’s Jjin-iya. You on the other hand, were sulking and decided to turn your head towards the window, trying your best to ignore the ever-so-slightly annoying song that was getting on your nerves while taking in the scenery in front of you.

After 10 more debate topics and bickering (because your friend is a tease like that), you both eventually arrived at your destination. Your friend has brought you to Haeundae, one of the famous beaches in Busan. As you both stepped out of the car, Haknyeon immediately went to the boot of his car and brought out a huge basket filled with whatever items he brought for the day.

He quickly grabbed hold of your wrist and brought you to the beach. There were quite a number of people here today, reasonable as most families and couples would’ve come to spend the good weather out at the beach. But Haknyeon manages to find a quiet spot where the both of you could truly enjoy the peaceful time today.

Haknyeon wasted no time in taking out the first item from the basket, a huge blue beach cloth and laying it down on the sand. Slowly, he took out all of the remaining items from the basket, most of them being food, to be honest.

What surprised you was that he picked out all of your favourite food and snacks that you literally consume whenever you wanna have a cheat or fulfilling day. Japanese fruit sandwiches, onigiris, chips, you name it he has got them. Oh, and yes he brought along his handy-dandy trustworthy Bluetooth speaker he’s been using for years that he loves and swears by it.

“Since when have you become a chef, Mr Ju Haknyeon. I thought you were a business consultant, not a restaurant owner.”

“Anything for my bestie, am I right?”. He gives you his signature cheeky smile, and you have to mentally ask your heart to stop beating so quickly.

Stop being so cute for the love of God.

With every bite you had, you couldn’t help but constantly give out this mmmmm pleasure sound, indicating how delicious every single meal was, and your friend couldn’t be much happier as it felt like he had gotten a trophy from a race or something.

You both enjoyed the meal and had a good chat about every single topic that comes to mind. You both reminisce back on the good old high school and college days, where multiple times Haknyeon has saved your ass from being called to detention for being late to class to almost missing your graduation day in college because you somehow lost the high heels that you planned to wear with your matching dress that day.

It was hilarious catching up with all of the crazy adventures you both had throughout the years, and Haknyeon with his bright and gagman persona made it a lot more memorable.

“I’m so glad you were with me from the beginning, Haknyeon. Never would I have thought to have gone through heaven and hell if I was alone.”

“Likewise, Y/N. I couldn’t have had a better bestie than you.”

You smiled and gave your best friend the biggest hug. “I just wish for us to be together for as long as we can.”

With that, Haknyeon breaks off the hug and grabs hold of your shoulders, looking deep into your eyes. He hesitated for a few moments, before deciding that it was the right time for him to speak about that certain topic that he has been desperately wanting to for the past couple of weeks now.

“Y/N. I know you’re probably sick of hearing this from me, but still, I want to make it clear to you. I still love you, even after all these years. I’ve never once given up hope on you.”

“And?”

He swallowed. “A-and. I mean, y’know we’ve been getting a lot closer for the past few months, crashing into each other’s place throughout the weeks, having tons of fun and cute movie and date nights at the restaurants in town. I just… wanna let this thing that has been bothering me for weeks now. I don’t mind if you don’t give me an answer, but just hear me out. I-I just… I want-”

“I’ll be your girlfriend.”

“Wa-wait what?”

You chuckled. “Oh my god, Haknyeon. I swear I’m gonna be dosing off to sleep waiting for you to blurt those words out. I know you still love me since the first day we met back in high school in the science laboratory. I gotta say I admire your persistence, young lad. Even what I was still with the ex who shall not be named.”

A burden was taken off of Haknyeon’s shoulders, and he immediately jumped right back into your embrace while rubbing his cheeks against yours. He was like a puppy who has just gotten their biggest treat yet.

“Thank you, Y/N. Thank you thank you thank you!!!”

The hug lasted for a good few minutes, both of you taking in each other’s scent while resting both of your heads on each other’s shoulders.

That was until Haknyeon broke off the hug for the second time now, as he moved his fingers right onto your plump lips.

“May I?”.

“About damn time, Ju.”

No words were needed. He lowered his head and crashed his lips onto yours. It’s like you both have been waiting for eternity for this to happen, how long you both have waited for this day to come. He wasted no time in exploring your lips, kissing you deeper as he tilted his head, and you did the same.

Breaking off the kiss, he eventually scooped you up bridal style and brought you straight into the waters. As the sun starts to set, you both spend the rest of the remaining time kicking and splashing each other with water at the shore. By the end of the day, you both were soaking wet, but no regrets were made.

Haknyeon then lifts you up in his arms once again, giving you another kiss on the lips as you lean down and wrap your legs around him, both resting your foreheads with one another.

“I love you, Y/N. More than you could ever imagine.”

Your writing is so so gorgeous and complex, and it just feels soooo real—how each person has their own depth—so much thought is put into every word and how it’s framed.

I just read your latest fic, Separated, and my god I SOBBED. It was SO good. I was listening to sad songs too, to get more into the mood, and it made me cry even harder. My heart just dropped out of my body when Reader and Anakin were saying their last words towards each other through the call: they were so emotionally close but so physically far from each other. How they were imagining a different life where everything was more softer and happier, that living handle their souls more gently, when in reality one was killing her, and the other was walking towards a path of destruction? AARAAGGH IM GOING CRAZY WITH YOUR WRITING (COMPLIMENT). I can’t wait to see the second part and how you plan to execute the follow up.

Btw. Do you have any tips on how you can finish writing stories? You write so much and it’s all such high quality. How do you do it? I have so many ideas but I never actually commit to it. I have this idea where Reader is also on par with Anakin’s skills as a mechanic except she gets extreme motion sickness, which I think would be so funny considering she’s good at building ships but not flying them.

(I really hope you’re okay with me posting this I know your first message was sent anonymously so I wasn’t sure but if you’re not definitely just let me know and I’ll get rid of it) but Oh my god I sobbed reading this 😭. Genuinely this is the biggest compliment I’ve ever received and it means so much to me I’m positively overflowing right now and a little upset I cannot find the words to properly express how much this means to me. I already go back through some of the messages Ive received periodically as a little pick-me-up but I already know this one will be revisited weekly it just means so much to me the way you’ve picked up on everything I’ve tried so hard to do well in my writing making the dialog and situations and characters feel real and complex and messy ugghhhhh I love you so much this means the world 🫶🏻

As far as writing tips for finishing stories I have many cause it’s definitely something I struggle with all the time lol! I’d say the biggest thing for me is to focus on just getting something down rather than finishing a certain work. At any one time I have four or five word documents open on my computer because I’m regularly only writing a scene or a piece of dialog or literally just an idea. A lot of the time I get halfway through something and decide I hate it but keep it there anyways. What usually ends up happening though is I take ideas or scenes from all the different pieces and drop them into my “main story” if I think they fit well so it all works out in the end but just writing (even if it’s not related even remotely to what you feel like you “should” write) is ultimately what’s important.

I also regularly skip around when I’m writing. I find I like writing the big plot points or bits of dialogue the most so a lot of the time I write those first then fill in the gaps later. Finishing a story is a lot less daunting when you already have all of the big pieces in place and just need a few tiny bridges to bring everything together.

Lastly I would say again just get something down on the paper. I’ve written a lot of really bad stuff lol and sometimes I can feel it while I’m writing it and there’s a part of me that wants to just delete it and start over but having the ideas down on the page is always 100% better than having nothing and editing the crap out of what you already have is way easier than starting over from scratch.

Anyways that’s probably way more than what you wanted lol but I really hope it helps! I think just remember this is supposed to be fun, if you’re getting frustration or exasperation out of it more than anything totally feel free to take a step back. I’m known to go MIA for months at a time cause I have periods where I just am not feeling it and forcing myself through it does nothing for anyone.

Seriously though thank you thank you thank you I’m so absolutely overjoyed that you like my writing enough to want to keep it in any form it means the absolute world to me! Also good luck with your potential fic! Tag me if/when you finish it! I just read your list of books and I saw that you have read some of the shatter me series. One of my friends has been trying to get me to read it but my tbr is way too chaotic and it's been a while since I've read any series other than interconnected standalones. What did you think about it/what would you say if you were trying to convince someone to read it?

I've already gotten a lot of spoilers so it's been hard to motivate myself when I already know what I'm in for at least to an extent.

Tbh, I've also been spoiled too much about the shatter me series before I started reading it😫 would've enjoyed it more if I didn't know the whole plot but still I ended up loving it💖 Why did I decide to read it? I have no idea, prob to see what the hype was about🤔 also my intrusive thoughts had led me to buy the SE of the book🤣

I think that the shatter series, from what I've already read is basically driven by the characters,, I think you'll end up loving the characters more than the storyline😚 basically, the characters carried this book🥰

I've heard a lot of opinions about Adam, but I cannot find myself to whole heartedly hate that man🤣 I get what he did was wrong but for the amount of hate that man get is beyond my expectations considering there are also a few characters that are also terrible😓 but gets little to no hate.

I think it's been 2 years since I've read book 1 and a year since I've read restore me so I'll try to give you my opinion and why you should read it based on what I remember😅

Book 1 (Shatter me)

My rating for this book before was 4/5 ⭐but when I think of it now, with my new taste in books it's a 3/5 ⭐...

I think that it was alright, and a fun read but definitely not life changing. I think if you plan to read this do take note that you'll be reading from Juliette's pov (she's 17 or 18?) so don't too expect much,, I did ended up feeling bad for the situations she's in and at times find her a bit relatable.

I don't quite remember much but I didn't really thought of her as a crybaby or annoying as most people do,, but I do hate that at certain parts of the book, her thoughts drifted of to Adam more than I would like, I was tweaking at some point but I pushed it through😝 Warner did made an appearance in this book to which I loved, not for the romance but for how he was portrayed, this version of Warner is more different than the Warner you'll see in the other books bcuz in this book he's giving more villainy vibes if you get what I mean😆 (I sometimes miss this version of him)

Overall, nice read👍

Book 2 (Unravel Me) 4/5 ⭐

For the whole part of this book Kenji carried it for me,, he's jokes are everything💖 There are certain parts of the book I liked and is slightly better than book 1😌

It's longer than the 1st book but I think after you'll reach a certain page of the book you'll get hooked🤭 also in the beginning, I remember that we'll dive in to more of the storyline and a little bit more context.

I can't really tell what I dislike in this book since my memory isn't cooperating but perhaps my dislike wasn't worth mentioning anyway.

Overall, loved it💖

Book 3 (Ignite Me) The most popular one 5/5⭐

I think among all the shatter me books I've read, this was probably the best imo, the romance was better, the tension, the drama was worth the read 📖😆

No complaints whatsoever🤭

Overall, my fav❤

Book 4 (Restore Me) 3.5 or 4/5 ⭐

I have a love and hate relationship with this book, one because this book from what I remember was driving me nuts both good and bad. At some point I was also pissed at something. Ah, I do remember it having Kenji, Warner and Juliette's pov too!

It focus more on the aftermath and slightly diving deeper into Juliette's life before she's in the asylum.

Now, finally, let me persuade you to read this series🤪:

1) If your not committed to finishing the whole series, you can just stop after book 3😆 good conclusion and all, I would've stopped there but unfortunately I've bought the whole series🤣

2) It's not enemies to lovers BUT the ML is basically obsessed with FL🤪 also delulu about her🤣 I mean at some point we also need a delulu man for once🤣 (I think you'll know what I mean if you decide to read the book including the novellas) Don't go into shatter me thinking it was going to be enemies to lovers but you'll end up kind of disappointed🥺

3) Aaron Warner😍

4) Kenji Kishimoto😆

5) Anything the ML says to the FL will literally will give you butterflies🦋 (well not anything but you get what I mean)

Omg anon don’t apologize for yapping literally my inbox is open for yapping of ALL kinds never be afraid to yap here this is a safe space for yappers of all kinds and like. Let’s be honest if you’re a fan of my work and read my posts then I think you’d be accustommed the the sheer amount of unnecessary yap this bitch (me) commits yo. Frankly no one can be a worse yapper than me 😎

Raf is so younger sibling coded. If he were my actual brother I could put up with him but since he isn’t he’ll have to be someone else’s problem. That said even IRL I’d be absolutely down for like, randomly running into him (as in I’m walking and manage to see him) and just watching what sort of shit he does. I think that would be pretty fun

Zayne is the most normal one fr but it’s mostly like. He’s the one who doesn’t enable my bad habits; if anything he fucking REFUSES to. Like he cares sm abt you, and you know what as much as I love staying up late and forgetting to eat I don’t want to worry you too much pookie.

Caleb is…idk man he’s not like going to have you be self destructive or anything, but given like. Everything (and I also just read his Fleeting Taste or whatever memory, and he just straight up goes “yea whenever there’s something I love it really do LOVE it”). If you’re in a relationship with him he’s at a point where he’s just completely enamored and literally the only way he’d leave your side is if 1. He dies 2. He proves to be detrimental to your safety (like with the bad end of the catch 22 memory). So although Caleb is definitely like zayne in the fact you should eat and get sleep, but I feel like he would encourage your…not so great social tendencies in order to spend more time with you. Physically he will do everything in his power to make sure you stay healthy (sleeping well, eating well and getting enough exercise). And although I don’t think he’d go as far as to have you become clingy and absolutely in shambles whenever you’re not in his presence, I feel that, at least without working things out between you two, he would lean into you having the same emotional codependency he does.

Oh no I’m scared for the raf lore even more.

I actually didn’t like touching their torsos that much 😭 idk why but for some reason when it comes to stuff like that I prefer just. Reading abt it. I just feel too voyeuristic when the game is literally letting me drag my sweaty hands over his sweaty chest yknow 😭 (no shame to all the ppl who do they, I totally get it; it’s just that is personally not my cup of tea)

I’ve been listening to a few and doing some bonds memories etc but not a ton. It’s mostly bc I like having my full focus on something at a time, and since there’s a lot of stuff I wanna get done (I.e writing) haven’t had a ton of opportunity to do them. I find memories easier to do tho bc sinces it’s a VN I feel a lot more active and like I’m actively doing something yknow

Anywho, will defo have more LaDs time next week (and then i will have to gear up for finals…🥲), but once I am finished with my current writing project (not for this blog; I do work on some other personal stuff lol) I have like…some sylus thoughts I wanna get outta the way. Ik for a fact it’ll be a little OOC bc he reads to me as someone who likes a girl who can just go and kill him and be feisty and stuff and also I’m not actually that into him but like. Idk man I can’t stop thinking abt like…sylus, taking in some linkon girl who fell into the zone thru a series of unfortunate events. And like, he offers you his protection, and you accept at first bc like you’ll die. But then there’s no way to escape since his base is at the very heart of the zone, and if you take even a step outside you’re just going to die. So you have no choice but to stay inside, and play the violin or piano whenever Sylus bids you do so (my fav idea of this is like, where you’re playing he music as he kills that one guy in the dining room during the main story, early on in his chapter teehee)

id say if you wanna learn abt the lore specifically (from other than playing through the main storyline) then the best to get it from is (in my opinion)..

• World Underneath (Its the little circle on the bottom left where there are readables,, they are full of lore stuff and it's a shame that it's hidden behind long text)

• Myths (Only unlockable after you get at least one of solar pair cards for it 💔 unfortunately some of the pairs were in limited banners so now we have to wait for potential news of reruns (which, if u didnt know, they havent done a single rerun ever since the launch of the game a year ago))

• Anecdotes

• Bonds (Unlocked as affinity progresses so you don't need cards to play through these)

The other stuff like Secret Times, Tender Moments and Memoria dont rlly give like super lore packed stuff but theyre still super fun to listen to/play through, and even if its not lore heavy stuff u actually still find out small stuff about the characters through them

ANYWAYS enough yapping from me because this all the self-control i had to not spoil anything (too much) and also it turned out WAY too long

❥ note: PLEASE NOTE there are manga spoilers in tachiharas part (which also happens to be my fav part, listened to a pearl by mitski while writing it... you can do the math), also ik this is such a weird collection of characters (kinda?) but i thought welp if im writing this for myself i might as well write my fav characters ! enjoy <3

❥ pairings: chuuya dazai nikolai tachihara fyodor tecchou x reader (separately)

chuuya

he feels like the luckiest man in the world, he finally understands all those cheesy proposal speeches

it happens as you’re cleaning up some of his small wounds, a scrape here and there after his job

“you should really take more care of yourself, chuuya,” you say, dabbing away the dried blood on his forehead (to be honest you weren’t even sure if it was his)

“i could say the same for you, you know, too busy cleaning up my mess when you should be focusing on yourself”

“oh hush, i’d much rather spend time tending to the man i love than doing paperwork for mori”

you were expecting a witty remark, but instead he went silent, removing your gaze from your delicate work to watch his mouth form an ‘o’

your cheeks went red as you finally registered the words that came out of your mouth, but chuuya was quick to calm your worries

“took you long enough,” there was the snarky remark he probably could’ve pulled off the nonchalant act if he didn’t have the biggest shit-eating grin, eyes glistening with awe

“i’m taking it back, lose the ego”

“im kidding! i love you too!”

he may be damned wasting his life away to the port mafia, being abandoned by those he cared for, but he was pretty certain loving you was going to make up for it, he knew it would

it was hard to finish cleaning the rest of his wounds when all he wanted to do was kiss you a million times over

his first initial thought was that you were lying to him

hes been used his whole life, he really just thinks youre playing with him

was this a prank chuuya put you up to? he doesn’t rly think its funny :[

but he watches as your eyes quiver with uncertainty- why would you be nervous over such a silly prank?

“ah you don’t have to say it back dazai! i just wanted to tell you..!” youre playing with your hands in your lap and then it hits him

youre not like those horrible people who used him, you’re his darling partner and you love him

he feels his heart shatter and he can’t tell if it’s because of his initial reaction - believing you would ever want to cause him harm - or because he’s overwhelmed with so many emotions that he just can’t contain them

you’re nearly as shocked as he is as you watch him wipe way the tears under his eyes, and you’re quick to apologise, you weren’t expecting him to be so upset over your confession

“oh belladonna don’t worry about me! i love you too, my darling”

he swears he can feel his heart slowly heal all its cracks and bruises as youre smiling the prettiest smile he’s ever seen, moving to kiss his tears away

tachihara

he doesn’t want to believe it at first

it’s not that he doesn’t trust you, it’s just that his work is dangerous and accepting his feelings about you would end up only causing you harm, in reality he should’ve pushed you away ages ago

but that’s exactly the problem, he was too selfish to push you away, and here you are, in his shitty apartment with that goddamn bandaid over his nose and you had finally told him those words

he doesn’t know how to feel- he feels guilty because of course you feel this way, he has been leading you on for months knowing full well that commitment wasn’t possible on his behalf, but he also hates that you’re telling him when hes like this - this isn’t him, this is mafioso tachihara, this is hunting dogs tachihara simply acting a part, a part of a greater, grander scheme that is supposed to result in the downfall of the port mafia; the downfall of you

he wishes you could’ve told him when he was simply just tachihara; before he joined the hunting dogs, before he joined the port mafia as a mole, before his brother died, but to be honest he wasn’t entirely sure that you’d tell him those few words - i love you, tachihara - if he was still that version of himself

so instead he decides that he’s going to be selfish just once more; the world had taken so much from him, surely it would be okay to take something for himself just this once

he closes the gap between your figures, resting his forehead on yours as he swallows his emotions, his regrets and burdens

the world could take everything from him, but he would never let it take you

nikolai

he’s ecstatic, you’d think he was a teenage boy thats just heard his crush likes him back

“really! you do!?”

he’s grabbed both your hands in his, and you can only smile as you watch him struggle to contain his utter bliss; grinning so hard the corner of his eyes were crinkling, eyes shining with what could only be described as pure adoration

“of course i do, kolya, i love you”

hes just so elated he doesn’t know what do do or say, and you giggle at his reaction because hes so happy and you’re so happy and being in love with him, you think, is the best feeling ever

nikolai eventually decides the only thing he can do is tackle you in an embrace, smothering your face with kisses and he holds you tight in his grasp

his entire life had felt so purposeless, he’d never known what to do with himself, but he truly, finally felt as though he’d found his freedom

you were his freedom, you introduced him to so many colours, so many emotions he hadn’t even known existed before he met you

he’s not the insane, apathetic man everyone had made him out to be, he was nikolai gogol, a man bursting with so many feelings and emotions who’s only reaction was to pepper his lovers face with kiss after kiss after hearing such a beautiful confession that he had completely forgotten to-

“oh right! i love you too, y/n! i love you!”

he was nikolai gogol, the man who had the blessing of loving you

it’s like every nerve in his body is telling him: NO, this is a HUGE red flag, abort immediately

he does what he first thinks to do, pulling you in close by the waist and kissing you and ohmygod you can feel him smiling against the kiss

he finally lets go of you and you watch as he stares at you for what feels like an eternity- and you don’t complain, how could you?

tecchou always was misunderstood for the most of his life, his special ability certainly didn’t help his case of alienation either, but he was more than happy to catch up on all those years with loving you

Within the unachievable realm I've always wanted to be a musician (Hency my profile background!). I kinda almost did, I taught piano for quite some time, and was in a band for a long time. Hey you never know, might get called to headline glastonbury anytime, hang out with Alex Turner backstage and never have to work a day in my life anymore 😉

Frankly I just dream of playing a rock concert with my band at the royal albert hall and crowdsurfing the dead-est, posh-est crowd ever just cause i thought it'd be hilarious to see their faces 🥲 lol

In the slightly more achievable realm within my field right now, my dream job is to work in the UN peacekeeping or other international conflict orgs to help broker peace deals and help resolve some of the conflict stalemates around the world. I've worked with humanitarian charities before but I get really frustrated seeing so many efforts gone to waste cause the bureaucrats on top just couldn't be bothered to sacrifice their political interests for longlasting peacekeeping efforts. Sorry this is such a geeky answer! It's just that I've seen so many unnecessary sufferings and I just really really want to be in a position where I can at least make my mark to do smth good to change the world for better before I die!

Movies/books that summarise me: prob Orwell's 1984 lol, i'll leave it to you to interpret why

Favourite song: Oh this is so difficult! My current fav is by the Belgian artist Stromae, the one he made as a tribute to Cesária Évora, one of the greatest living singers of all time!

My current fav album and something that you DEF DEF DEF should listen to is the new album by the Canadian indie band Peach Pit called From 2 to 3. It has that old school road trip feel good vibes with your friends during a cross-country, it calms the soul and soothes the mind just uuggghh absolute masterpiece! (My fav track is give up baby go!)

Fav instrument: My bass! Especially my fender jazzmaster bass Rory ❤️ it's been my date for 23 years

2022 mid-year book tag

no one tagged me in this and i haven’t seen it going around but i really like doing it as a way to reflect on the year AND just catch up since i haven’t been super active this year at all :)

best book you’ve read so far: it’s so hard to pick just one! but if i have to i’ll go with the poppy war as a whole series, it was just perfection

best sequel you’ve read so far: muse of nightmares, finlay donovan knocks em dead, and tokyo dreaming all come to mind

new release you haven’t read yet, but want to: funny you should ask, the chandler legacies, and here’s to us

most anticipated release for the second half of the year: carrie soto is back would be my number one by a long shot! but i’ll give an honorable mention to misfits like us and people like us because not only am i getting lunnelly but marrow is returning to me <3

favorite new author (debut or new to you): i read my first sally rooney book this year and i have to say it definitely hooked me enough to get me interested in the rest. i also really loved the kiss quotient by helen hoang so i hope to get around to the rest of her stuff soon

biggest disappointment: i had really high hopes for the book skye falling and while it was still a very good book i found the main character pretty unlikable which was unfortunate (but i still enjoyed reading about her growth and can acknowledge her arc changed some of her more off putting traits). i also did not enjoy book lovers even half as much as it seems everyone else did (although perhaps any expectations i had for this were on me since i didn’t like beach read either). i will also briefly mention archer’s voice which wasn’t bad but also did not live up to the hype at all

biggest surprise: probably the no show by beth o’leary! i read her book the flatshare and thought it was cute but nothing could have prepared me for how well crafted and clever this book was. i prepared for a fun romance and was hit with a clusterfuck of confusion and emotions (honorable mention to finally donovan is killing it which was an impulse buy but has not left my mind for a second since i put it down)

book that made you happy: better than the movies was the best rom-com type book i’ve read in a long while 10/10 for cuteness. in another vein true biz was not what i’d call a happy book but it made me happy by having some of the best representation for deaf and hard of hearing people i’ve ever read and had such an interesting format

newest fictional crush/favorite character: my fav milf finlay donovan!! but i’d also be no one without charlotte holmes, sebastian hughes, the bellinger sisters, and zafira bint iskander

book that made you cry: strange the dreamer and muse of nightmares, the midnight library, the guncle, the burning god, last night at the telegraph club (i really read this question and thought the answer was going to be none 💀 should have known myself better)

favorite book to film/tv adaptation you saw this year: bridgerton season two was pretty good! i think they nailed the characters but the book had better plotting however the show aesthetics and acting make up for it. i also watched the summer i turned pretty which i read too long ago to really judge as an adaptation but thought was some cute mindless fun to watch (hoping i can say djats by the end of this year 🤞🏻)

most beautiful book you’ve bought or received this year: i loveeee the look of the poppy war series and i am currently reading the book counterfeit which i think has a really interesting cover. if i’m being picky i got the sands of arawiya and dreamer duologies for christmas in 2021 but i’ll mention them now since i read them this year and all 4 books are stunning

book you need to read by the end of the year: so so many! i want to finish the aogg series for @daddyblackthorn and also wrap up a lot of random romance series’ that i read the first book for and never committed to finishing. i also never finished the serpent & dove series which i ALSO started ages ago for tessa so it would be nice to finish that as well (sorry tessa </3)

i won’t tag anyone since this didn’t really start as a tag game but i think it’s really fun and i love having these to look back on so i definitely recommend doing it for everyone reading this !

Opinion on each of the Phantom Thieves ?

oki im going to go in the order of whoever i remember first, this turned out kinda long lol (also i ramble a lot in this, sorry not sorry)

Akechi - hes a silly, little silly man. goofy goober, committed lots of crimes i think he should be jailed for these crimes. He and joker kiss. I think Akechi is a really complex and well written character and that his entire life is really tragic, I really love his character in general. Akechi’s character is someone who sticks to his ideals, no matter the situation or if his ideals are proven wrong and this loyalty to his ideals translates to his loyalty to the protagonist and the deep sense of envy he is implied to feel for him. baby man, my babygirl Protag/Joker - opinion for him r all my hcs. he is like cat. Futaba - forced to kin her, i love her omg. shes so me. character great 12/10 love her to death. She was the most useful character in the metaverse no i do not take criticism. wasnt able to finish her confidant in vanilla but im def going to max her out on my royal playthru. I do like futaba’s videogame logic being applied to irl logic bc,,,, i do that too and erm Ryuji - i like him. I hc he wears a leg brace. I wish all his prevy scenes were cut, idk they all felt out of character for him. also i wish we talked more about childhood friends ann and ryuji like. hello? they should have been besties, sharing embarrassing stories about each other. Ryuji’s confidant was def one of my favorites, always hung out with this man. I really like Ryuji’s strong desire to be helpful and to just be a guy, he wants to make ppl happy and like yeah me too bestie Ann - atlus ruined you im so sorry. act 1 ann was fire, she was so badass amazing 10/10 great character. everything past the first palace was like ????? where her character go??? i wish we had more scenes were ann explicitly takes back her sexuality, like she is not uncomfy with it and rather confident or something idk. but i love her anyways, i hope she girlbosses gaslights and gatekeeps her way through life Yusuke - sigh, another force kin. i think he is also silly, my honorary babygirl. Yusuke struggle with his identity and place in the world is really cool bc Yusuke is a great foil to Akechi, i guess its a more black mirror situation with Yusuke and Akechi but whatever. Yusuke being an orphan but had a (albeit bad) father figure with akechi has no father figure and the closes thing he got was shido (shitty father). and like i wish we would have gotten more yusuke relates/sympathizes or something with akechi, i mean they both have strong ideas r without a mother, cmon atlus do something. also Yusuke is like, my favorite, besides Akechi. hes so girlypop. Makoto - sorry makoto lovers shes not a favorite. i do like her character but also i hate it. Like some aspects r cool amazing great even, but other parts. I like her persona thats cool. um not much to say other than decent character. solid 6/10. not a fav but i still love her. Haru - i have literally not met her yet, she spoke to her once in vanilla and im working my way slowly to her in royal. current opinion is: she exists. i like her hair. Morgana - cat (i almost forgot about him) Sumire - shes cool, i like her so far. accidentally spoiled her entire character arc for myself……whoopsies. dont have much to say about her other than good character, shes solid.

Okay and i think thats everyone, i really love all of the phantom thieves and yeah maybe ill come back to this question when i finished the game but this is my currect opinion on everyone.

Rivamika Fic Suggestions List 2

Hey there again! It’s been a while since my last rivamika post and I apologies for that. I caught the reading bug and have just been hitting book after book. I might be doing a book of the month suggestion starting in March. I’m still thinking about it but if that is something your interested in let me know. Or if you just want book suggestions just message or ask me. But for now, I’m back with my second Rivamika Fic Suggestions List.

First of all, I want to thank you for all the comments and messages I received from my first list! I think it has over 150 notes now which is crazy for me. I was going to be ecstatic if it got like 10 likes or something hahaha! I’ve enjoyed talking to some of you about fics and other snk stuff. Feel free to do the same after this post! I know I take awhile to respond but swear I get there eventually.

Same rules as last time. I’ve split this list up into four categories. I wanted to let people know the status of some of these fics in case they did not want to start an incomplete or in progress story. All of these fics can be found on AO3. I’m going to try to link them but we will see how tumblr acts today. If you have any fic suggestions for me, feel free to message me with them and I can add them on to the next list. If any author sees their story on here and wants me to take it off the list, please let me know I don’t wish to make anyone feel uncomfortable. Also, last thing, I highly recommend leaving comments and kudos to the authors. I know that they greatly appreciate it and it helps them with improving their writing through feedback. - Thunder Clouds

Sometimes I like to go to the very back of the Rivamika archive on AO3 and look for fics that have gotten buried over time. Low and behold what I have found lol! I enjoyed the emotional roller coaster when I was reading this fic, though sometimes I wanted to pull my hair out. Set after the titans are gone, humanity has to repopulate so arranged couples by the monarch are made to be wed. While this new order is being enforced, Mikasa and Levi are trying to work out their strained relationship. A slow burn with angst that will have you staying up till 3am dying to know what happens next. I know that there is a sequel to this fic called Nimbus and I’m slowly working my way through that one. Honestly, it will probably go on my next list.

- Red is the Only Colour

A cute fic that was a quick but wild ride. A Little Red Riding Hood type of AU where Mikasa is a hunter of some sorts traveling through a town. I don’t want to say how Levi plays into all of this since it gets border line spoilers but just know that he is there. It is an opening ending fic for the author to come back if they plan on doing so but it can be interpreted in different ways. All in all, a fic worth of the quick read.

- Sing Me a Song

First I have to get this off my chest, I love the author’s name hahaha! I freakin wished I would have thought of that for mine! Anyway, this fic is wonderful but I will warn you that its a gut punch. If you like hurt and angst put together, then this is the story for you. I love these types of fics because I adore them so much but they hurt me in my soul. I don’t know what that says about me but whatever. I don’t want to delve into the story too much for spoilers but I would suggest rivamika fans to check this one out.

- Midnight Musings

I just started to read Raewyll’s fics so I’m slowly working my way through all her works. This one caught my eye and I had to read it. This is a cute take on a chance meeting through texting the wrong number. I love the way Levi and Mikasa’s relationship blossoms into something more serious after causally texting back and forth. It’s one of those stories that I can only describe as being cute as shit! I’m definitely going to be checking out more of Raewyll’s fic in the future.

- Beyond the Walls

If you love RIvamika angst, then look no further than this baby right here. This is currently my favorite ongoing fic. It was supposed to be a shorter story, but the author keeps adding more chapters so I’m not complaining hahaha! This fic is pretty much how I would *personally* picture canon Mikasa on how she would deal with realizing that she’s falling in love with someone. Its mostly told in the perspective of Mikasa as she is dealing with the after effects of war and trying to figure out what should she do with her life now that she is no longer a solider. Her feeling for Levi come with a lot of confusion as she’s discovering emotions that she has never felt before. She has a hard time pinpointing on what exactly describes her relationship with him. I’m anxiously waiting for the final chapter for this fic and dying to see how it will end for Mikasa and Levi.

- After the War

I am loving this rivamika slow burn fic right here. Its similar to Beyond the Walls but I think the author adds their own taste of the 1920s into it. Set after the war is over (obviously), Mikasa and Levi have to figure out what they are going to do the rest of their lives. It has great tension, a perfectly paced gradual romance and just the right amount of humor to combat the emotional turmoil it puts you through. Again in my opinion, this is close to how I would realistically perceive Levi and Mikasa’s relationship evolving. I’m really enjoying this story and I’m looking forward to more updates to come!

- The Sound of Lightning

A new fic that is just getting started but I can tell that what the author has in store is going to be interesting. Set several years after the end of the war, Levi and Mikasa are loving parents to a single child. Their peaceful life comes to an end when the family has a threat against them. There are not many long fics about Mikasa and Levi being parent so I was very happy when this one popped up on the AO3 feed. An exciting adventure awaits the Ackerman family now and I can’t wait to see where this fic goes in the future. There are three chapters as of now so head over there and check it out.

One of the gems I found when diving back into the Rivamika archive. Ugh I HATE that this fic is incomplete!!! Its a good long fic but I’m greedy and I need more! I will give a warning first that this fic does contain heavy themes. Mikasa and Levi are in the underground to fight against a criminal ring. This story is a slow burn with action and emotional trauma. There is a wonderfully written OC that you easily get attached to its not even funny. Even though its not completed, I would highly recommend checking it out. I still have three more chapters to finish but I had to put it on this list. I know that I’m going to be pissed once I reach the last chapter written. If someone know MissErikaCourt, let her know that she needs to comeback to finish this masterpiece!

- Shiver

Another one that I DISPISE its incomplete!!! Ugh such a great Office AU. It’s everything that I would want in an Office AU setting. Mikasa struggles between her committed long term relationship and her growing attraction (which starts to develop into some feelings) to her boss, Levi. Its hot, sexy and intriguing and it pisses me off that its not finished! The author writes each chapter as a one-shot but collectively together they tell the whole story. Highly recommend even though its so short. BORNSINNER where ever you are in the universe I hope you come back to finish this!!!

- Two Lines

Rating: Mature

When this was getting updated it was my favorite on-going Rivamika fic. I would find myself checking to see if the author updated with a new chapter every week! The unplanned pregnancy trope is a classic one, but Crejhov does a fantastic job on keeping readers enthralled with soo many anticipated character meet up that are bound to cause hurdles for our expecting parents. This story is told from the perspectives of Mikasa and Levi in order for us to understand where their mindsets are as they plan for their expecting child and deal with their relationship. AHHHHH I want more of this!!! I was soo excited to see where this awkward journey was going to take Mikasa and Levi. CREJHOV COME BACK PLEASE I KNOW YOU HAVE WORK BUT PLEAAASEEEE! I NEEEEEEDDDD!!!

- Cabin Fever

All I should have to say about this is that its written by AmayaOkami and that should explain it. Amaya is the one that gave us the beautiful incomplete rivamika fic Romance and Rivalry. I just adore her writing. Levi and Mikasa relationship evolves as they are standing guard over the arrested Kenny Ackerman. Secrets are discover about the Ackermans and it gets pretty steamy between our two favs. Great fluff and great sexual tension that leaves you wanting more chapters! Again AmayaOkami where ever you went I hope for some miracle that you come back and complete this one too!

This one-shot feels like I read a novel, it has such a great storyline. An arranged marriage between Mikasa and Levi leaves the relationship strained in the beginning. Their relationship evolves over time as Levi patiently brings down Mikasa’s wall. With smut added for all of your one-shot needs. Definitely worth the read in my opinion.

- What Remains

This one-shot gives us a glimpse into the secret relationship that Levi and Mikasa have been having while there are still scouts. This fic is sad but I would say it has a bittersweet ending. I think this was supposed to be part of a collection but I can’t find the rest of them. Still a great read by itself.

This fic is cute as shit! A College AU where Mikasa and Levi are childhood friends. Levi has to deal with Mikasa being at the same college as him while he is struggling with his changing feelings towards a grown up Mikasa. Worth the read as I said cute as shit, leaves you all warm and fuzzy lol!
