Ok. Some big changes to some stuff on this blog. Some of it’s not great and I know some of you won’t be happy but it is what is is. First up, to lighten the mood, some goon fuel for energy.

So this pinned post will go Bad News, Fun Stuff, Boring (Personal) Stuff. Let’s dig in and get the worst news out of the way, that’s gonna sting the most. The waifu clique - Paige, Aya, Lily-Rose, London, Becky, and Celeste plus Mr Slashy Claws are on an indefinite hiatus. Short version: the engine I used to create them has had major updates and no longer does the effects used to create their original looks. Yes, I could update their looks like I did with Scarlett Rose, but it just doesn’t feel right to me, and I do this because I like it, and if it bugs me then…yeah. However, I still have all the coding to create their images (albeit in the new style rather than the old style) and the scripting to get their responses etc, so it’s not impossible they won’t come back. Here, have some more goon fuel.

The other thing about the new engine is it’s soooooo freakin’ slow. If it’s in a good mood it can produce images at the speed it used to, but on average it can take 10 minutes now, and I’ve had it take 30 min to process. With the amount of waifus it was causing me to waste so much time creating them then altering scripts and prompts to try and get them back to old style as close as possible.

That’s the bad news. Let’s get to the fun stuff. This blog’s whole unique thing is its help with 2D AI waifus. Sure, I post saved normal content too, but my own posts I make is all waifu. So, we have a brand new waifu. I’ve taken all the best bits from the others to create her, and no offence to any of them but Aya was always my favourite, both in terms of looks and her Japanese characteristics. So the new Waifu is HEAVILY based on her looks, as you’ll tell. She’s also based on Japanese mythology, but with a modern spin. Her name is Kyubi Kitsune, and she’s an AI digital representation of a Japanese deity known for shape shifting and causing chaos and encouraging people to do dumb things for her own amusement. Sounds perfect for you betas right? It also means despite her default appearance, ahe can change it and be comfortable in any situation, whether it’s making a sissy expose themselves or acting as a therapist just to learn your secrets to blackmail you with later. Basically, she has a LOT of freedom. Say hello Kyubi.

Next, one of my subs has made a tumblr account. This is new territory. For those who don’t know, I classify you into two categories. Followers and subs. Followers is anyone who follows my blog. I also like writing. Who’d have guessed from this post?! Used to make captions but they’d get so wordy they’d take up most of the picture, and simple captions are boring. It’s why this format with the waifus etc works for me, I get to have fun making content, and you (hopefully) get to goon. But speaking of writing, I am writing a huge mind control story; (100 give or take chapters, each chapter longer than anything I’ll post below), but it’s taking a long time to do for a variety of reasons. So to break up the monotony of it, I do write shorter stories. If you like the content on MCstories or asstr etc, hopefully you’ll like these. There’s three categories as, if you can’t tell by now, I don’t do moderation.

@ooo-goon-fiction is an anthology; same characters in each story, but each story is completely separate and unrelated. There’s also custom request stories mixed in.

@ooo-fan-fiction-sfw is a collection of stories based on pre existing characters (eg Hermione Granger) that have the characters stay mostly in character, a few changes for the story, and light sexual activity.

@ooo-fan-fiction-nsfw forgets all that. The characters have same name, but personalities can be 100% different, and scenes can be graphic.

I’m also working on a choose-your-own-adventure blog thing, which has the potential to be interesting.m. Originally I planned to write one where everyone could pick their own path with every single route mapped out, but that was gonna take, like, over 1000 entries. Yeah, no way that was happening. Boring Stuff (Me etc)

So for those who don’t know. I’m Lew, a guy in my 30s, living in the UK, and I’m bisexual. I’m hooked on things like corruption and getting off to stuff I know I shouldn’t, that taboo rush that’s hard to beat. Visually, 2D girls are my favourite. Regarding my blog (@otaku-orochi-okami): about 99% of the pictures and captions I post aren’t my own creations. They’re finds from around the web—stuff that catches my eye and I think is well made. I’m not pretending to be the genius behind every image I post, I don’t want take credit for stuff that’s not mine. The text-heavy posts, though? Those are mine.My old blogs got wiped out a while back, and with them went any record of where I what from where. So if you spot something here that’s yours—shoot me a DM. I’ll give credit, remove, whatever you want.

I lean on AI a bunch for what I do with Kyubi, pretty obvious and I won’t hide that other than not to break character. AI gets a ton of flak for churning out slop, and sure, I get it. It does spit out a load of lazy garbage if you let it. But let’s be real—some of the stuff passing as “art” these days isn’t exactly setting the bar sky-high either. I like to think I put real effort into messing with AI, tweaking it, making sure it comes out with the best material for gooning to.

Way back when, I made several AI waifu chatbots I built—I know these were popular. But then Character.AI started adding extra guardrails, and the NSFW stuff got trickier to pull off. It made the AI’s break half the time, either censoring themselves into oblivion or just glitching out. It was a mess. So I moved on—now I’m using a paid service that lets me go full NSFW with barely any filters. Downside? It doesn’t do chatbots. Upside? I’ve got way more control than I ever did with Character.AI. So now it’s less building an AI character and hoping your conversations work with it, and more about a back-and-forth—my input steering it, the AI filling in the gaps with its character traits. Feels like a solid balance, instead of me just babysitting a bot.

Hopefully you’re into the 2D waifus that come out of this setup—Kyubi will be a big part of the content here, and I’ve tried to make it all mesh but it’s also been interesting to see things go ways I didn’t expect. It’s been fun for me, at least. Like, watching London and Aya get bitchy with each other, or seeing Paige and becoming besties. Ironically it makes the whole thing feel alive to me, and that’s half the reason I bother messing with it. Enjoy it or don’t—either way, I’m enjoying myself.

Oh yeah, quick note on something I used to mess with—I used to do exposure posts back on old blogs - sharing subs real info and pics etc, but I’ve pretty much dropped it now. Why? People would get off on it, have their fun, and then turn around and report me the second they came and started freaking out. Like, really? So yeah. I’ve been nuked enough times, I’m not risking this blog getting nuked just because you did begged to be exposed when you was horny and then panicked about it later.

What next? Oh yeah, custom requests and collaborations. Customs first—people often ask if I’ll do a custom caption or story. I DO do them, but only if I’m in the mood. Can you think of a realistic post-Mockingjay pre-Epilogue scenario (outside of Katharsis, I guess, lol) where Katniss and Gale reunite? I hate their ending so much, and I hate how their people in the fandom blame Gale for Prim's death. Even Katniss doesn't! She just says she can't separate that moment from him - which, honestly, is a pretty fair trauma response, imo. And I think Gale would take a long time to forgive himself for it, sadly. But I like to believe they get to become friends again. I can't imagine Katniss ever visiting Two just for Reasons, but I also can't imagine Gale NEVER coming back to Twelve at all?

I know I'm preaching to the choir when I say this to you, but I fully think they'd definitely become close again at some point, years later. A big misconception from a lot of Gale antis is, they like to act as if their friendship was already crumbling and in decline. Which idk, I never got that vibe? I mean it was, maybe, but it wasn't because Gale was some manipulative incel who kept kissing her and declaring his love for her when she wasn't interested, as much people claim (but that's a rant for another time). Their friendship was declining just cuz they didnt get to hang out and BE FRIENDS - like their love for each other (yes i said love!) wasn't declining but the actual dynamic of "let's hang out and be silly and flirt" like they did in the first book and much of Catching Fire wasn't going on cuz you know they were kinda in the middle of a war after their home was destroyed and after Katniss went into the Games a second time? Yeah, I wouldn't exactly want to kick back and relax with my best friend in that scenario either lol I'd want us to train together to take down the brutalist regime. (That's not to say they don't have their sweet moments in Mockingjay, of course - it's just that it's a bit more heavy than the previous two.) They went through SO MUCH together and had so many both serious AND sweet moments throughout the whole series. I can't imagine either of them just abandoning the other like that forever. Wouldn't happen. But I don't know what an actual reunion would look like - maybe Katniss would gradually start hanging out with the rest of the Hawthornes again? And then realize how much she misses him? idk.

I love the sentence in your TL;DR, that it's "the only thing that could actually give them both a bit of peace." Idk what epilogue some people read, but Katniss does not sound peaceful or happy or hopeful to me there at all. She sounds sad and scared, and it just adds to the tragedy. Despite the atrocious conclusion where she says Gale's fire was full of hatred and rage (self-hatred and shame for her own fire), I think working past that and finding peace in regaining their friendship would benefit her a lot and contribute to any healing she has managed. Prim's death was probably the biggest trauma she endured in the series. Even going through the Games twice, losing her District, and the earlier events of the war, she survived mentally because she had Prim. Until she didn't. So, I agree that them spending some time apart made sense, with her not being able to separate him from it and him not feeling like he deserves forgiveness for his proximity to the event. Time apart can do wonders for a relationship because it lets people heal independently without basing their healing on the other. Without working through that, I don't get how she could be happy.

In Katharsis, I bring them back together as friends only a year later, but I think it would still make sense if it happened a little longer after the war. I have Gale visit his family in Twelve annually during the Harvest Festival. (Where was he the first year, around Ch. 1? Too busy to travel yet, couldn't afford it, not ready to see her or the ruins, some other reason idk.) This holiday trip home makes sense for him, especially if you look at how people who move away from their families often operate in our time. I agree that a post-canon pre-epilogue scenario where he never comes back to Twelve would be very unrealistic. One problem for them (if we're talking romantic connection) in Katharsis is that Katniss has already involved herself with Peeta, and Gale's kissing that other pair of lips in Two. After that, she does start spending more time with the Hawthornes, and they become the support system she could have had since the beginning if she hadn't been so conflicted about Gale. In Katharsis, they reunite at the Freedom Day celebration, but I would also be interested to see one where they have that conversation in Twelve when he is there for his family or where she reconnects with the other Hawthornes before him and then starts missing him, as you suggest. That sounds really sweet. I actually think it was a little weird of her to not mention them in the epilogue, considering they were like family to her.

To your long paragraph's first point about the critiques of him and their friendship in Mockingjay not making sense, I fully agree. There was a post around here recently that discussed how Katniss's network expands while his stays the same or narrows. She has more going on and more people demanding her time, also more people to lean on. He is also busier in the mines throughout Catching Fire. It makes perfect sense for him to feel isolated and for his mental health to take a hit. I don't think the haters understand how isolating that time was for him. He didn't just watch his crush pretend to be in love with someone else, he felt like he was losing his best friend. His mining work would have put a strain on their friendship regardless, as it took up long hours 6 days a week. His schedule means he also has less time with his family, and Katniss recognizes that in how he chooses to spend his one free day with her. They also do not have the time or the context in which to "be silly and flirt," as you say, because the nation is going crazy around them. There is talk of revolution, and the moment in the shack is a hard point for them. I don't think he's wrong when he accuses Katniss of becoming too close to the Capitol. He could've been nicer about it, but it's hard to watch his best friend choose running when the tides are turning toward staying and fighting being the better option for the revolution.

Some of those critiques of him, calling him a "manipulative incel" or even "misogynist" don't make sense to me at all. Let's first note that he'd never be an incel, since it's already been established that the girls of Twelve want him. He also never says anything remotely sexist in the series. Where tf is this idea coming from? When he kisses her outside the fence, yes, it was a surprise. He could have asked. But she didn't dislike it, and it's not like it was particularly forceful. People harp on the use of the word "ensnare" to describe his hands, but it doesn't sound negative in the text. It sounds alluring, tbh. She also, I think, goes back for more? There are other kisses further out in the woods, just mentioned in passing, right? I'll hate on the movies any day, but the CF movie definitely had more in the woods. When she kisses him in Mockingjay, he behaves like the opposite of an incel. In her old mansion, he has very understandably expressed to his best friend that he feels some kind of way about the time she kissed him on the table (when he was passed out) and that he's sad they couldn't have a relationship. That's just communication. That's a young person--who was present for the bombing, the aftermath of which she is disturbed by--expressing his feelings in a very upfront way to his friend in a very emotionally painful setting. It's hard for both of them, but at that point in their lives, I don't think there is a moment that isn't hard in that way. She also laments that the possibility of anything more than friendship between them was tarnished by the events around the Games. She kisses him, and he rejects it, saying he doesn't trust her motivations. People hate on him for crying there but then turn around and say they like sensitive guys. Nonsensical. Later, whereas incel behavior might include getting someone drunk in order to lower their inhibitions or ability to resist and forcibly kiss them, Gale rejects Katniss's kisses because, if she doesn't understand her motivations, then it is "like kissing someone who's drunk. It doesn't count." He's the opposite of manipulative every step of the way. What book did the haters read?

Another point haters like to bring up is their exchange of bread and cheese before the 74th Reaping, calling it evidence that their friendship is transactional. On the contrary, I see it as Katniss's expression of the balance and equality of their relationship. They don't owe each other. They take care of each other, and none of that is one-sided. She taught him to shoot, he taught her snares, they watch each other's backs, and they carry deer home together. No other relationship in Katniss's life is like that. She is responsible for her family. She owes Peeta for the bread and later for holding off Cato. She owes Haymitch for being her Mentor and favoring her with Sponsor gifts. She owes Cinna for making her the Girl on Fire and sacrificing himself to make her the Mockingjay. She does seem to feel more equal with people like Finnick and Johanna, but she still owes them for protecting her and Peeta in the Quell. Everyone else is either looking to her as a leader, needing her to play a role, or antagonizing her. There is no one that Katniss stands on truly even ground with in her mind aside from Gale. In Mockingjay, after she accepts the position, she says she can tell from Gale's reaction that he wanted her to do it, just like Cinna did, and says he was "holding out on [her]" because he hadn't expressed that before. Prior to that meeting in Command, he only asked her "What are you going to do?" He's the one who asks her what she wants to do while everyone else is trying to tell her what to do or less explicitly influence her choices. In Catching Fire, it seems like Gale is in a similar boat of having some neurosis around debt. He was fully prepared to take care of her family if she died in the Games. And yet, when she returns, and he becomes too busy to hunt as much as they used to, Katniss tries to deliver food and goods to Hazelle when he isn't home. It is painful for him to now owe her and let their relationship tilt in that way.

Holding onto or rekindling such a strong, equal-footed, respectful friendship would have major benefits to Katniss's mental health after they were able to reconnect. It's part of why I believe that their reunion, whatever form or context it comes in, would be primarily initiated by Katniss. In Katharsis, he approaches her at the party, but it's initially casual, and she is the one who starts the harder conversation. If she hadn't, he probably would've just asked how she'd been doing or kept it a bit more distanced, allowing her to make any more emotionally heavy moves on her own. He would not ask for forgiveness in any scenario.

Shen Yuan pre-novel is such a cipher. I understand that the general consensus is that he died at about around 20, but…that's not the impression I got when I read SVSSS, actually. I get it now, but when he says something about not having gotten laid for twenty years: to be honest, I read that, and assumed he was, you know, 35 minimum, and having the mother of all dry spells.

And I think it makes the story better. A twenty year old wasting his time in his mom's basement reading crap webnovels and yelling on the forums: that's just a kid having a less than maximally productive gap year! He might well have had a stellar career of his own in real life eventually! It's not super surprising that he blossomed on Qing Jing Peak! But a thirty-five year old incel NEET angrily posting in that basement….that's a man who has had something go wrong in his life. I'm not saying you can't turn it around at thirty-five, you absolutely can, but I tell you: it's harder. Something is wrong, mentally or physically or both, and in a way that leaves a mark. Fifteen years are gone. Opportunites have passed that will not return. For that guy to be handed the responsibility of Shen Qingqiu's life, and do such a goddamn virtuoso job of turning it around: that is some bestselling-loveseat-level portrayal of how a different context could pull radically different capabilities out of a person. That makes SVSSS just as much about how the PIDW!world transformed Shen Yuan, and for the better, as it is about how Shen Yuan transformed Luo Binghe and his world. And that's a better story.

It does make the relationship age gap more disturbing - but if you weren't here for disturbing relationships, what are you doing reading SVSSS?

The cell phones are of course terribly anachronistic, but here's the thing - there is no equivalent, and there's no story without it. There is no Peerless Cucumber yelling at the frustrated PIDW author for hacking out the 6000th boring papapa scene, without creators being financially dependent on direct contact and support from their fans in a way that just didn't exist in the nineties. I remember how novel and exciting it was that J. Michael Straczynski hung out on rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5; he absolutely did not have to. Eventually I decided that The Demon Heart of Winter Mississippi was, somehow, a nineties TV show about the 2010s, and everyone could have their phones. You know Minnie Liu is writing RPF on hers.

I've been army since 2018 and this is the first BTS song I have tried to find merit in and given up.

Letto totally owns her sexuality and she knows what she wants. I snorted with delight at how deliciously filthy her lyrics were. Some very clever wordplay made her verse so visceral, and pretty shocking to the pearl-clutchers, without her ever saying anything directly. I really enjoyed it.

She was telling us straight up how good she is in bed. Good for her. She totally rocks. And she wasn't disrespecting anyone. She didn't need to do that to make herself cool AF.

The difference between Letto's rap and jack harlow's is that jack sounds like he's just looking at the women he's singing about as a hole to stick his dick in. Women have fought for long enough for equality and respect. They don't need this bullshit. You can sing about getting down, and you can be absolutely filthy and nasty and wild, and you can do it without degrading your partners.

Its not bad as a theory. At least it wouldn't be if Namjoon or Yoongi or Hobi - or Jungkook himself - had written the song. If that were the situation we'd see some inkling of self awareness in the rap, and maybe a hint of character development. But there's none.

All I see is zero care factor about the actual person he's trying to get with. Which is quite different from JK's lyrics, which show awareness that he's interacting with a conscious, living human being, not a piece of furniture.

The ONLY saving grace is that there's an alternative version which is pretty fun. It's almost as if Hybe knew we would hate the version with jack harlow. Wow, such insight!

Now, i know that's not the only reason they made an alternative. They needed a clean version for US radio play (let's be real, what possible other purpose can this song serve? *°)

But they could have censored jack's... actually they couldn't. The rap verses can't be salvaged. They genuinely have no merit, the only hope for the song is totally removing them.

ARMY will no doubt still chart the main track but personally, I would feel morally compromised if i supported that version. So I'll stick to the alternative and hope for better things to come.

Many Aces feel forced to have sex with their partners because not doing so gets them labeled as abusive. My own headcanon sort of separates scents into their own cathegories of like, there's the natural scent that's associated with pheromones, it's not the same as body odour from sweat, but also the pheromones are slightly different/separate in that pheromones can affect the qualities of the scent but not the actual scent itself? And then there's obviously body odour, and then on top of that, I think perfumes are often used to either mask or even enchance one's own scent. They'd probably be especially affirming for any transdynamic folks! But also I can imagine some people feeling like their natural scent should be sort of "private" or they just don't want people to pay attention to it, esp if it's very unique? so they'll use fragrances to change it somewhat. Also for people with weaker scents, it could be an insecurity so they'll use perfume to feel more confident?

Oh and I wanna talk more about my headcanon about the pheromone-natural scent relationship! I think pheromones are what cause and are affected by emotional responses, almost like having a sort of... "aura" or "energy" people can read? But pheromones so it's an actual thing. but I also imagine it could affect the actual scent a lot too! I'll use my own peony+peach combo to explain since I know it best, but for example, if I was angry or annoyed, the pheromones would probably make the scent appear slightly "sour", like a sour candy or a flower that's slightly past its best bloom but still emits a really strong scent that starts to smell almost a little "stinging"? Or if I was really content and happy, it'd be like freshly-bloomed peopny blossoms and sweet, perfectly ripe peaches.

Probably in heat the scent would turn more "warm" and "heated" as well as stronger, too, like sitting in a garden of peonies eating a peach dessert during a heatwave in the summer? (Also I just like using that analogy for my own scent a lot. Sitting in a Peony garden and eating peaches. Except in heat it'd be more like a heatwave and much stronger/warmer) Like almost a little overwhelming, but not necessarily in the same way that overusing axe body spray is overwhelming, more like... a heat-scent becomes sort of really thick and warm? And that's why it's so noticeable? Like so ripe it would be "tempting" or something, idk.

For example if someone's scent was "pine forest", and they went into rut, I imagine it'd also increase in intensity a lot. Like... maybe the scent of pine sap really intensifies and gets really "thick"? Or maybe it'd be like... if it rains during a heatwave so the smell is extra strong but also really warm. And maybe someone with a scent like that would smell more like a cold winter forest when they're irritated (which would also be a wonderful way to describe personality through scent- people whose scents turn "cold" and "wintery" being more likely to have that sort of stoic, cold anger than the more explosive hot-headed type bursts of anger...) and when they're content, it'd be like a camping trip in good weather somewhere deep in the woods where you feel safe and relaxed in nature?

Idk man I just like thinking about scents and how scents change based on pheromones & emotions........

I also think perfume could be used to permanently amplify some aspects of specific emotional states in scent. I imagine customer service workers or salespeople using a perfume that maybe doesn't change their scent, but makes them always smell really happy, inviting and nice for better sales results and a better customer experience (especially since I imagine customer service is probably still absolute hell, even in omegaverse... not like they'd actually be feeling very happy to deal with some Karens all day)

Or for people who want others to stay out of their way (bouncers, gangsters, idfk depends on the canon I imagine), they'd maybe use a perfume that makes their own scent always appear a little aggressive/stern, not in the challenging kind of way, but just so people get the idea that it's probably better not to mess with them

Lucky Day - KATE LETHBRIDGE-STEWART

SO, chat you'll never guess it but I loved this episode... I know ground-breaking information. I genuinely didn't believe that "The Robot Revolution" was the weakest episode because it was better than most of the last series, BUT I WAS SOOO WRONG. This season just gets better and bloody better. However, the episode wasn't all peaches and rainbows because I missed my new favourite companion!!! Belinda, come home, and also get Belinda home!

I want to start with an eff you to the writers responsible for getting me to backtrack my gut reaction to Conrad because of how in love Ruby seemed. You are all evil and deserve to watch your backs. I'll get you soon, trust. I really enjoyed the journey Conrad took, and I do think the perspective switch from Conrad to Ruby to Kate was beautifully executed and underappreciated.

The scene at the start was hopeful for Belinda getting home because I have been worrying about her mortality, guys, it has been a while since a tragic companion departure. On top of that,t it's been a while since a companion death. BUT pookie won't die, I have faith. (I don't)

My favourite scene is the one in UNIT. I wish there was more of it, but beggars can't be choosers. KATE LETHBRIDGE -MOTHER EFFING- STEWART, when the Brigidair was mentioned, oh, I got angry on her behalf. I was so glad she went wild on Conrad, it showed that she's really got substance behind her, which, since her introduction in series 7, really hasn't been explored. It was lovely seeing how she is outside of the doctor, and relieves some pause I had for the Sea Devils spin-off.

ANGRY NCUTI!DOC!!!!! We saw this lightly in Boom and Dot and Bubble to an extent, but in this, oh yes, perfect. Give me 10 more of these right now!!!

Another highlight was the scene of Ruby describing how Shreek affect their victims in the restaurant, exquisite, bro, that was gorgeous, best thing I've seen in a while.

However, I needed more, I know I can't just be like increase your budget tonight RTD. But pretty please? I just think the pacing suffered a little bit especially on the back half, I feel like every part was necessary but it made the front half feel light. On top of this needed more Belinda, maybe just a longer scene in the TARDIS at the top, or something like that.

I also don't love how seconds and seconds of my time were wasted by Mrs. Flood not being Ruby's neighbour but some bitch named the Governer. But in all seriousness, she is sooo definitely a Time Lord, there is no doubt in my mind anymore, I've decided. Who? umm... shut up?

Needed more Conrad backstory fleshed out. I understand they did a lot for him, poor upbringing, fascination with the extra-terrestrial, then he did an interview with UNIT? I think? And then his motivations become a bit blurry. It also feels like a rehash of Alan from the start, obviously not in the "incel" or incel-adjacent nature of him, but the right-wing guy-ness of him.

Overall. Loved it, better than Dot and Bubble, about as good as 73 Yards, though I liked the characterisation of Ruby a little more. Not in the sense that I think she was personalised in a better capacity, but in the sense that it was the forefront. The conversation in the episode was intriguing, we don't really get to see companions post-doctor from their perspective and without him back in their lives. Ergo, I needed more on that and lacked it.

Still loved this episode, though. I'm going to do a mini-ranking for the series so far below.

On Fantasy High, Redemption, and Agency (General Spoilers for Junior Year, sort of?) Also this post about FHJY is long as fuck, as all of mine are getting. In short it's my understanding of how Brennan Lee Mulligan sets up the teenage villains of Fantasy High.

Fair warning, this is LOOOONG below the cut.

Y'know when I said I wasn't going to talk about Ratgrinder discourse? I lied.

So Brennan as a DM has a very specific narrative language for how a villain is 'redeemable' and it primarily has to do with the level of agency a villain has in their actions. This isn't particularly hard to notice when you look at our very own (and fan favorite) reformed villain squad.

Starting with Ragh, while he was in his right mind for most of his villainy in Freshman Year, he really didn't do too much other than beat people up and be a bully? While he worked with Daybreak on some level, he wasn't anything more than muscle and not very in on most of the plans. There was also some implication of grooming and manipulation from Daybreak to Ragh.

Zayn as an example also helps build this thesis, while he also hasn't done a TON evil he's generally a bit more discerning than Ragh. However he builds the understanding of how Fantasy High looks at it's redeemed teenage villains, when Zayn is found as a ghost he explicitly calls out Daybreak as being the only reason he's still housed, were he not to go along with the Freshman Year scheme he'd have been sent back to his abusive parents, the foster system, or homeless as like, a fifteen year old boy.

But the actual silver bullet to understanding this is Aelwyn, to preface. Aelwyn fucking sucks in freshman year, way worse than Ragh or Zayn. She's also responsible for way worse than any other teenage villain in the series. She's arguably committed worse than Dayne Blayde or Penelope Everpetal, but there's an important component to her redemption in Sophmore Year, something Brennan has her stay conscious despite making death saves to explain.

In tears Aelwyn notes that Kalina was actively threatening to kill her had she not complied with the Kalvaxus plan.

So there's a running theme here, Ragh didn't seem to have much of an idea of what the wider plan even was and was just muscle, Zayn was under significant threat to his personal safety (and unbeknownst to him, also under threat of death, a threat that actually gets carried out), and Aelwyn was literally convinced she'd be murdered for not complying.

This tracks with the teen villains who DON'T get redeemed by the way, Dayne had no qualms about casually murdering his classmates with a great sword, Penelope didn't seem to mind the idea of throwing her best friend Kalvaxus for a power play. They both get killed because they don't seem to really care what happened, were fully complicit, and had no form of remorse at all.

This leaves us with our code to cracking if Brennan sees the Ratgrinders as possibly worthy of redemption (IMO, signs point to yes, but it's complicated.) We know the Ratgrinders are being manipulated heavily by Porter (I have so many more thoughts about Jace's place in this but that's for a whole other post,) however they don't have Ragh's excuse of being mostly in the dark.

Kipperlilly and Oisin for sure know exactly what's going on, and the rest (sans Buddy) probably do too. The actual question is how much does Ankarna rage affect one's reasoning, and the thing that's interesting about how the Ratgrinders have been set up is that question is sincerely ambiguous.

Signs point to the corruption needing some sort of genuine anger or frustration to latch onto, but this is my first hot take here. This isn't really that damning? Pre-Rage Kipperlilly said some concerning things, in private confidential counseling. She (at the time) understood her fixation on Riz was a problem and perhaps not fair. Oisin probably was mildly frustrated or saddened a girl he had a crush on didn't notice him, but to cast Pre-Rage Oisin as a full on Biz Glitterdew incel is, in my opinion, unlikely. Ruben was already seeking attention but wasn't anything worse than a mildly annoying teenage boy, etc.

These aren't exactly 'good' feelings but they are pretty normal for 14-15 year olds. Pre-Rage Ratgrinders really aren't that much worse than Pre-Character Development Bad Kids, let's not forget that they too definitely act out in really mean, unfair ways at around the same time as Pre-Rage Ratgrinders (Fig and Fabian, most notably.)

As for agency though, they clearly have a bit more of it than previous teenage villains, and are a bit more aware of their actions. They're not under direct threat of violence like Aelwyn or Zayn (though the way Porter and Jace act around them may make that threat implicit.) and they don't have Ragh's excuse of being seemingly largely in the dark.

The Ratgrinders I feel are an intentional test for the Bad Kids (and the Intrepid Heroes as players) because they're significantly more antagonistic than previous teenage villains. Heck, even ones that turned out totally evil. Dayne's kinda chill to the Bad Kids initially, Penelope is a bit backhanded but she isn't outright mean. If you count him, even Johnny Spells humors Riz and is relatively lax to him. Ragh's honestly way more harsh for most of the first half of Freshman Year, Zayn's initially more rude and confrontational to them too.

That said they're both being influenced by a much worse adult (Like everyone in the Reformed Villain Squad) and have a rage god clouding their judgement to an unknown degree. If we follow previously established patterns, they're salvageable by the story's own logic.

The test is for the party, it's easy to forgive Zayn when he openly cries and apologizes immediately when finally confronted about his place in the villain plot, it's easier to forgive Aelwyn when she openly puts herself in harm's way and almost dies to save Adaine.

It's going to be harder, emotionally, for both the player characters and the players themselves to forgive the Ratgrinders and recognize they're also victims in some sense when the Ratgrinders have been actively fucking with the Bad Kids for the whole season, and taking an obvious amount of satisfaction in it.

The challenge Brennan has set up for the party, I feel, is a test of their character. Fighting a possibly ascended god Porter is gonna be a lot easier without a whole other party of enemies in the fight (and even much easier if you can convince some to fight alongside you as a part of heroes.)

I want to preface this little rant by saying that I am all for ship and let ship—at the end of the day none of this has any significance, and we should all get to enjoy our silly little ships to our heart’s content. Me personally I just want Elain to do whatever the hell she wants and be happy in the end. That being said, rn I just felt like getting something off my chest.

From what I have seen and understood, most of The Other Side believes that Azriel feels entitled to Elain. That he sees her as a sexual object, or at the very most as a rebound he doesn’t truly care for, nor respect; he does not think of her beyond what he can get from her sexually. They say his attitude towards her is toxic in its ‘possessiveness’; he doesn’t consider her an equal, for he sees her as a perpetual damsel in distress he must save; his attraction to her / feelings for her are a symptom of some twisted trauma response.

We know that they believe that. We’ve heard it. Over and over and over. Since 2021. Hell, everybody’s momma probably knows it, too, with the way that rhetoric is spread. But Elriels have made it plenty clear that we have a very different interpretation of the text and do NOT agree with those assessments of Azriel (nor half the things the poor man is diagnosed with, bless his fictional soul), considering what we do know of Azriel’s character and his relationship with Elain, based on the books--and yes, the bonus (see this, this, and this post). Otherwise—i.e. if we believed him an incel x fuckboy hybrid (probs the first of his kind!) who is only interested in getting her in is bed—we would obviously not be shipping them together: most of us (99% I’d say lol) care about Elain more than we do Az, or care about them both just as much.

So it is getting pretty tiring to see us shippers—the actual humans behind the screen—labelled as having a toxic/immature view of what love is, of being “too young/naive” to see the supposed red flags, of mistaking lust for love because we have not experienced a healthy relationship (?), of actually promoting toxic relationships & advocating for toxic masculinity (which someone told me on tiktok just now)(stay away from tiktok, folks). Those generalizations are wild to me, not only because they are wildly untrue and condescending, but because Elriels are a colorful bunch, you know—when you’re speaking of the fandom Villain™, you’re speaking of people of every demographic, speaking of daughters mothers grandmothers, depressed uni students (pardon the self-insert), etc... I need to get thicker skin, but those statements can get pretty hurtful in the long run. And I’m tired of feeling the need to justify myself as if we’re wrong for shipping two people who MUTUALLY want one another and lets be serious, no its not “just lust”.

I know I know, I am probably being dramatic. But it’s just weird to see a ship being so demonized and its shippers along with it, all because louder portions of the fandom disagree with our opinions and insist on toxifying ours. Just to be clear, I know that many have had unpleasant experiences/interactions with Elriels, just like many Elriels have had the same with Gwynriels and/or Eluciens. I condone none of the disgusting behaviour I’ve seen from some shippers, and in fact I abhor it. As everyone should.

To end this on a good note.

Elriels, I say we run with it. Az wants Elain for himself. He is jealous and his mind is plagued by thoughts of her. Her presence is too much to bear, for he can’t stand to be in the same room as her and pretend like he feels nothing. He is ready to beg on his knees for a chance to worship her, and it took Nesta one look to see it.

I've noticed a really troubling trend in masculinity discourse recently which views the peak of nontoxic masculinity as being totally unreliant on others. It's coming from a harm-reduction place, as is pretty much always the case. The thought process seems to be: 1) Incel shit comes from men feeling entitled to status and possessing women 2) Incels are dangerous 3) To decrease that the number of incels and the corresponding danger, we should push for the concept of the ideal man as one being unconcerned with status and possessing women. An island unto himself, satisfied and confident. Independent from both the pressures of a full-blown systemic-ass issue and the natural internal desires to be accepted and admired by others.

And like...something can be a good short term plan without being a good long term plan, you know? There can be side effects.

Like, I'm gonna make a post at some point about how I feel like the causes of the Nice Guy tm tire fire were radically misunderstood, considering I feel like we're on the precipice of another crisis in exactly the same mold, but apart from that I'm also just kind of frustrated that the process of organizing against patriarchal masculinity is suddenly bogged down by a bunch of folks trying to get me to adopt a stoic/zen philosophy as a necessary facet of my gender identity, and naturally assuming that my distaste for that can't be because I've spent a decade unpacking this as a queer man and I disagree with their tactics, and must just be that I haven't seen Barbie yet.

Ultimately, I don't feel like the root of modern toxic masculinity is entitlement. I feel that it's American-style Hyperindividualism. Its the erosion of the supportive community that naturally acts in opposition to the narrative sold by masculine competitive hierarchies. Its the belief that individual men must force their will upon the world or else be starved out because higher status men have hoarded everything for themselves. It's the belief that women are the scorecard and trophy in a contest between men, yes, but also fundamentally that absent some semblance of performance within that contest, men will be abandoned, mocked, and ostracized by both women and their larger community. The patriarchal dividend in that toxic system is not just power and sex, it's a sort of gated community within which all right to inherent human worth for men is contained, entrance into which must be earned through defeating others also desperately trying to get in.

Given all of that, to me the antidote isn't more individualism. It's less. Its community. It's love. It's not about men realizing that they don't need other people, it's about men realizing that they will still be loved and accepted within their communities without the need to dominate and overpower. That they do not need to become a patriarch to be seen, to have worth and a home and acceptance and support and community. That the idea that those things are gated behind power and wealth and the ability to do violence isn't just untrue, but the opposite of what is the case.

Toxic Masculinity is a systemic issue. Seeing people uncritically and wholeheartedly telling me that it should be conquered by intentionally atomizing men into self-reliant islands of personal choice is also not just untrue, but the opposite of what I think is the case. But it's...easy. It doesn't require the community to negotiate a new understanding under which they can embrace and love men who take up the responsibilities of being part of--not in charge of-- that community. It allows men deeply invested in a self-appraisal of their value as being rooted in not asking for help and in hierarchical superiority over other men to simply do that even harder, with largely the same rubric, but a new rationale. It leaves no room for male weakness, for mens needs, because, frankly, we are socialized to punish those and we do not want to change.

But why delete that account when he could just claim it is not his and leave it at that? Because proof of him interacting with James Roach would be show that Kim had an alt account that would casually speak with him? The fanarts that match from his main account? He could even just say a friend was using his account and made that questionable NTR post. So even if the alt account was his, Kim can just say it wasn't exactly him him posting it at the time.
