Just wanted to say: you handled that one anon WONDERFULLY! A very measured and respectful response to someone so entitled, condescending, and rude. I understand disappointment in games with a gender locked MC and ROs only interested in a specific gender. I cannot begin to express how many IFs I've come across that disappointed me because a majority of their ROs were only interested in a same-sex MC. You know what I do when that happens? I quietly disengage, unfollow, and wish the best for those stories while staying my lane and carrying a lot of respect for that writer because they're creating the story they want to tell. I don't understand why so many people find that hard to do!

All of this to say, don't let the naysayers get you down. Hold your head high, write the story you want to write, create the characters you want to create, and don't let others dictate and stifle your creativity with their snide little remarks and temper tantrums.

That anon probably wasn't even the worst message you've received about this game being gender and sexuality locked.

Actually, I've had an overwhelmingly positive response about my decision to gender lock the game. I know it's really frustrating for readers, and I expected people to be more upset about it, but apart from Anon this morning, the worst anyone has said to me is "not my cup of tea, good luck. though" added context, I started this blog in November of 2022.

I have had some Anon's ask about the possibility of female or gender selectable ROs in the future, but they have all been incredibly respectful and willing to play the friendship only route.

I tend to be a cynical person, and I have also observed the same Anon entitlement in the Tumblr IF sphere, so I released the game expecting to spend a lot of time arguing with Anons, But all of my readers have been overwhelmingly kind and supportive. (You all are truly the best supporters an author could ask for.)

Filbrick really is an idiot, isn't he? Where does anyone think that kicking your teenage son out of the house before he even graduates from high school is an acceptable consequence for making his brother don't get in a good college? The only consequences Stan should have suffered for accidentally breaking Ford's experiment and not telling him about it is a) Ford being sad and angry at him and b) find a job to help to pay for a good college for Ford.

Oh definitely. I didn't like how Filbrick worded out his frustration because it left a lasting impact for both of the twins: that it was Stan's fault for ruining a good chance for the family (letting Stan's insecurity of only causing harm no matter how hard he tries take into deep root), and reinforcing the fact that Ford was meant for greater things (feeding on Ford's desperate need to be important enough to be needed).

I would also like to pull the 'different generation, different perspectives' card. Using the little information we have with Filbrick, he too was no stranger to hardships. Heck, he may not even went to college what with antisemitism being so much more rampant (compared to what the Stan twins have faced in their time).

In Ford's case, he didn't move an inch when the principal told him that his son has the potential to get into one of the best academic institutes in America. He was only impressed with the mere mention of Ford becoming a millionaire because money meant security, and security meant a better living situation, and better living means anywhere that is not Glass Shard Beach.

In Stan's case, Filbrick grossly underestimated how hard it is to find a job that pays enough without a high school diploma. This is the part where Filbrick didn't know his own son, because Stan will do anything just to get back home. That he will take every shortcut if it meant for a chance to be back with his family. Filbrick didn't realize that Stan wasn't the only one being an ignoramus.

Filbrick was wrong for doing what he did to Stan and Ford. He failed as a man by being a bad role model for his sons, and he failed as a father for only providing fuel for their insecurity.

I find it really interesting that a lot of people who are against the idea of being diaracial/diaethnic is that like. There are people out there who are a certain race or ethnicity that don't look like they are. Like, I don't have the post anymore, but I remember this one person making a post about how they're Native American, but everyone assumed they weren't because they had light skin. The same kind of thing happened to a youtuber whose mom is from India, nobody believed that he's Indian because he has light skin. So it's like, you can't just look at someone and know for a fact that they are what they say they are, and I sincerely doubt anybody worth talking to is going to demand that you pull out a DNA test for proof. So like, all the people that are against diaracial/diaethnic identities being like "well you don't look a certain way so you can't possibly be what you say you are" are kind of just being racist.

All very good points anon; bioessentialist bigots are often obsessed with DNA and chromosomes so that they can know what we really are and put us in easily-eradicated boxes accordingly. Unfortunately for all bigots, we are, and always will be, extremely variable.

hello! i love your blog and I wanted to ask a question, do you/how do you balance science & faith? Do you completely ignore science (especially things like evolution), do you work it into your practice, or something else?

sorry if im not getting my question across well, this is coming from someone who has been practicing as of almost a year, i've been asking myself this recently and I wanted to know other practitioners opinions on it.

I do incorporate science into my practice. Personally, I believe that trying to separate the two is kinda...not great. Being spiritual shouldn't mean that we can't be scientific also, in my opinion; both things absolutely can coexist. I'm not a mythic literalist, for the most part, so I'm sure that makes it a bit easier for me lol. Spirituality isn't an "illogical" thing, and I think that's a common misconception spread throughout the U.S. society especially: that spirituality is purely hogwash, and no spiritual person can be a scientist.

I believe in evolution, and I also view it as a very beautiful thing! I love animals and plants, I love the history of the earth, I love the science of weather and the ocean and the sky and space. I incorporate it into my practice as subtly as breathing. I say this in the sense that it's not really a big deal for me; I don't draw a line between "science" and "spirituality". Spiritual things can be scientific, and vice versa. Are the stars that burn millions of light-years away from us just beyond our atmosphere not filled with a divine beauty? Is the fact that trees that have lived for millions of years still being alive today not a reason for pause? Is the existence of our bodies at all not indicative of some divine intervention, some living miracle? There is SO MUCH that had to go right in order for us to even be here.

So yeah, I tie these things together because I don't believe they were ever meant to be separate. Someone once told me that only fools separate science and religion, and to some degree, I feel there is truth in that statement. Those who ignore vaccines on account of their religion, who deny the existence of evolution, who deny things that have been proven time and time again - those are fools. I'm not really a judgemental person, but when it comes to these things, I have rather strong opinions (some family members of mine are like this, and that's partially why; I've seen the harm directly). My advice is to not separate these things, but I'm obviously quite biased. It's ultimately up to you on what you decide to be right for your practice.

In the context where Nightmare keeps Fresh, would Fresh start to get uncomfortable with being restrained (you mentioned in a previous post how Fresh would prob enjoy the feeling) because he now associates it with Nightmare?

The reason I think Fresh is fine with Nightmare restraining it in most of my art depicting them as allies is that Nightmare is only restraining it... physically? If Fresh expressed any desire to be let go, Nightmare would comply.

Nightmare needs Fresh to trust them. In my 'canon complaint' depictions, I don't think NM has the technology to dampen Fresh's magic to the point it couldn't just teleport away, so if he wants it around, he'd need to be a gracious ally who doesn't do anything Too shitty. Restraining Fresh and refusing to let it go would definitly freak Fresh out to the point that a lot of the trust the two had built up would crumble, and Nightmare would have to either rebuild the relationship and put in a lot more effort to get Fresh back, or give up on the partnership.

So Fresh is never truly restrained restrained-- it is always free to leave. In Straydog AU, Fresh is not free to leave, and thus acts that would have been enjoyable or neutral are seen as threatening and scary. Like I think Fresh could wear a cute collar in my allys interpretation as a gag gift by Nightmare and it'd be chill HAHA but straydog au Fresh is very very uncomfortable wearing the collar Nightmare forced it to wear.

In the future... I think Fresh would still feel safe in confined, small spaces, but would get panicked it held down by another person. It would be all about if Fresh was choosing the situation or not. Pressure and hugs would probably be fine as long as it Knows it can leave the situation; IE. after it really trusts someone, he'd prolly still be down to be restrained if there was like... a safeword, or the understanding that if it started showing distress it could be let go.

Its also that Fresh is very tactile, both in my interpretation and also supported by a good bit of canon. He likes to touch, be touched, hugs and cuddles and all that shit. So I don't think he'd just swear off all physical contact, just get... very very stringy about who he lets touch him.

I will (gently) challenge the parameters of this question. When people think of ridiculous Midwestern food, 9 times out of 10 they're thinking of something Minnesota made up. And while it might not seem like it, there's a HUGE difference between Kansas and those freaks in Minnesota (said lovingly).

Midwestern food, when it can be generalized, tends to be hearty meat-and-potatoes style dishes. Grilled meats in summer, chilis and casseroles in winter. Fresh vegetables in the growing seasons, and potatoes + onions in winter. The desserts are where things tend to get more region-specific.

But in answer to your actual question -- I think Bruce's stomach can only handle so much rich(er) Midwestern food because of the high dairy and fatty meat content. If you're working on maintaining a lean(er) physique like he is, one bowl of chili could really knock you out for a few days.

Personally, when I'm cutting and I'm eating whole foods for weeks and weeks, the first time I have something like that, it's a lot. That's all to say, yeah maybe Bruce should do his dirty bulk at the Kent farm. There's nothing like a great heaping serving of shepherd's pie.

I would have to disagree with the other point, I don't feel as though changing your skin color due to a societal pressure is trace, and I feel like its dangerous and counterproductive to say that. They aren't doing that because they think it's matching them inside, it's to conform to a colorist society... if your definition of trace includes people who are being forced or pressured to conform, i feel as if thats the exact opposite of being trace and you should reexamine. In my opinion, nothing about that sounds or feels trace... - internalself

Hello anon! Are you the same person who got all up in my askbox yesterday? You certainly seem to have an equally poor grasp on what I actually said and a willingness to make it somebody else's problem. However, I no longer have a headache and am feeling less cranky, so lets treat this as a genuine question.

I never said it's wrong or even inaccurate to compare the gods to humans/mortals. What I said is that some seem over-eager to equate them with groups or systems where they don't actually fit, or to project our own world onto them. This tends to lead to poor textual analysis. For example, equating the gods with mortal rulers (specifically tyrannical rulers, even), the one percent, a higher social class, rich people, or colonizers of mortals all read as comparisons made from the assumption 'gods are the most powerful sentient beings of Exandria; therefore I will compare them to the most powerful people of our world'. Do these comparisons make actual sense as parallels? No! Kings and rich people and colonizers aren't innately more powerful than others because we don't live in a fantasy world where magic is real. You can take said power from them and redistribute it fairly. You cannot do this with the gods.

Ultimately, the last few words in your ask neatly sum up the problem with this mindset: do the gods deserve to hold this power over everyone else? Lets look at this through a comparison: do sorcerers like Imogen deserve to hold power over everyone else? She, like most sorcerers, was born with powers others do not have and has no way to get rid of them. They cannot be taken from her and redistributed to the masses to make things more equal, because they are a part of her innate self. In using them, Imogen can do good, but she also sometimes ends up hurting people by reading their thoughts without consent or, at times, even meaning to. So, does Imogen deserve this power? By now, you might see the problem. It doesn't matter whether she deserves her power because you can't take it from her without killing her, no matter how unfair you think it is that she has it. 'Do they deserve their power' is an irrelevant question that people keep coming back to. What you're actually asking is, 'do the gods deserve to live', or even 'do we have the right to kill them' which is a lot more loaded.

The gods already evened the playing field as much as was possible by locking themselves behind the divine gate, severely diminishing their influence on Exandria. They can no longer cause any more harm than any mortal, because now they must act through mortals such as clerics and paladins, through which they do a lot of good (or have we already forgotten about c1 and c2, or even the resurrection of Laudna by a divine cleric and the actions of FCG in c3?). If this still isn't enough for you, you might want to ask yourself whether what you actually want is fairness and the good of the people of Exandria, or if you're just looking for pointless revenge for the sake of it.

Why do you think Levi is subjected to more ableism in the fandom than other characters in the series?

You know, Anon, I’ve wondered the same thing. I’ve often thought about why Levi in particular faces so much ableism from fans, especially compared to other disabled characters in Attack on Titan, like Erwin (who was an amputee) and Hange (who lost an eye). I think one important difference driving the ableism against Levi is how his role in the narrative was tied so strongly to his physical prowess; he was literally hailed as “Humanity’s Strongest.” For many fans, this moniker became his entire identity. When they see Levi at the end of the manga with severe injuries—half-blind, facially scarred, and using a wheelchair—there can be an almost visceral reaction: they feel he’s “lost” what made him exceptional and, consequently, his worth.

Of course, this attitude misses the deeper point of his character. Levi’s true “strength” was never about having perfectly functioning limbs or unmatched reflexes; instead, it lay in his resilience, moral compass, and capacity to protect and care about others despite intense personal trauma. Unlike Erwin or Hange—whose strengths were regarded as intellectual, strategic, or based on charisma—Levi was mythologized for his physical abilities. And our society, unfortunately, tends to place a premium on physical performance; people often conflate physical prowess with overall capability and even personal value. Notice how many superhero stories focus on those heroes being heroic because of their superpowers. When that physical prowess is removed, the ableist assumption is that someone becomes “useless” or “broken”. Erwin and Hange aren’t subjected as much to this particular form of prejudice because their disabilities aren’t perceived as negating their worth.

Furthermore, mobility disabilities in particular are frequently treated with greater bias and discrimination—there is a long history of society perceiving a wheelchair user’s life as diminished or over. Because Levi’s injuries affect him in very visible ways (eye injury, wheelchair use, and facial scarring), the ableist rhetoric becomes more overt: some fans leap to the conclusion that he’s a shadow of his former self, rather than recognizing he’s still the same exact individual who overcame a violent childhood, survived countless battles, and bore tremendous responsibility and loss on his shoulders, all with immense compassion.

What’s especially ironic is that Levi’s endurance and courage remain perfectly intact; if anything, his hardships only reinforce how indomitable his spirit is. Being in a wheelchair doesn’t negate what he’s achieved; it highlights how much he’s lost yet continues to survive, pushing forward with the same mental and emotional fortitude. By dismissing him because of his physical injuries, people undermine the story’s nuanced message: that genuine strength is measured by character, not physical strength.

All in all, I believe Levi faces more blatant ableism because people struggle to separate his core character from his once-renowned physicality. The fact that he ended the story visibly disabled, rather than “bouncing back” with minimal repercussions, forces certain fans to confront their own biases regarding disability. Instead of reading it as an empowering statement rooted in realism—that Levi is still himself, still strong in ways that truly matter—some choose to read it through an ableist lens, judging his worth by his physical condition alone.

the one who explained actually ended up being prison mark (he was in earshot of no goggles little display and showed up to watch towards the end of it) he took viltrumark aside after he finished laughing at them and told him before he could do anything with his partner he had to get their consent for it first (he impressed enthusiastic consent on viltrumark very very hard, i think out of the marks hes one of a few who feel particularly strongly about it)

and then as the day goes by more of the other marks are stopping him in the halls to try and give him a talk about it. fullmask heard about no goggles getting into a fight with mohawk while trying to explain sex positions to him and rushed over immediately to make sure he knew what consent was. maskless pulls him aside shortly after. like six more variants try to talk to him in succession and it starts getting annoying

mohawk shows up to give him a talk like "okay i was little distracted at the time but before you-" an gets cut off by viltrum being like i KNOW. and then no goggles rocks up after like flaxan mark gave him a talking to about that like "ok so i got a little ahead of myself back there and flaxan mark told me to tell-" and viltrumark just starts screaming because this is the 18th time someone has come to tell him the exact same thing hes already learned today

I agree that Prisoner would be the most concerned with consent. Considering how the Empire functions, I have a feeling that in addition to torture and hard labor, they forced him to reproduce with other prisoners/slaves.
