Just got told by my mother and grandfather that if I voted for Kamala Harris, then I wouldn't be part of the family. After being told by my mother that she thinks if my cousin finds out that I voted for Kamala that he'd hang me from a closeline and then shoot me.

I completely 200% feel you, but I'm trying to think of it like this. Since all of the most awful people in the world are doing their utmost to help Trump win, think of how incredibly satisfying it will be if we all put in the work and make him fucking lose anyway. So many truly horrible people, especially Trump himself, are going to have a Real Bad Time if he loses this election again, with work and effort on our part this is still completely possible, and I for one vote we give it to them without delay. So. Yeah.

I love seeing people on other platforms talk about tumblr like it's dead. Like wym it's dead. There are actually literal hundreds of people here at least just clicking buttons on my polls every day consistently and I'm not even a big blog. Everywhere else it's an inconsistent 5 likes. Same exact pictures, but here people are screaming in the tags even if I post at the ass crack of dawn and everywhere else no one even gets to see the pictures unless I get lucky in the first hour after posting. Tumblr is by far the best place to post stuff ime but somehow people on the outside think it's a graveyard.

Due to a lot of feedback on the nature of this blog, and how the meme format can come across as insensitive and shameless, I'm considering switching to a news only post format, without the use of the destiel meme. I greatly enjoy sharing information about current events, and would like to continue doing so in some way.

Incorrect, the fact that Biden has dropped out and a candidate with history of supporting medicare for all and being more receptive to a ceasefire in the I/P conflict has made me go from "I cannot morally support the Democratic nominee" to "I am voting for the Democratic nominee despite the fact she isn't perfect in every respect." I'm really happy this played out. The Dems for the most part abandoned the old Obama platform and it feels like its possible an actual progressive agenda could come to pass in my lifetime.

ohhh boy ohhhhh man.... it really is something... here are some yan branch ideas (from their high school years).

(reader here is described as fem, satoru and suguru are gaslit gatekeep girlboss-ing their way into making you their girlfriend)

for starters, satoru and suguru handle the kaizu incident much worse. what little tact they have in the main storyline is gone lol. this has short-term success and long-term consequences. rather than giving you the time to recover and reflect, suguru sneakily introduces guilt. he stresses that you should've told them that you can't perform cursed technique: null without hurting yourself in the process. had they known, they would've found another way.

then there's satoru. he just starts coming along on your assignments. if you get annoyed and tell him to quit following you, he seemingly concedes. that is, until every time you arrive at your assignment's destination, you find him lounging around, having already exorcised the curse. while you're recovering from his audacity, he's making dinner plans, brochure in hand. he's pointing at a famous local restaurant instead of acknowledging your frustration.

"you took forever to get here," he'll lament with a yawn. "i was so bored. ready to ditch this place?"

they safeguard you from any danger at the cost of eroding your relationship.

you came here to learn, to grow in strength and potential. how can you do that under these circumstances? suguru interferes behind the scene so you’re given less assignments, satoru tags along uninvited for the few you manage to land. it’s frustrating and demotivating. trying to get them to see reason is akin to arguing with a brick will. satoru waves off your frustrations whereas suguru listens. in a way, this is almost worse. suguru gives the false impression that you might be changing his mind. he’ll nod along as you vent, his countenance solemn and his voice soft. he’ll validate your smaller plights while twisting your perspective on the most pressing issues. you come away from the interactions unsure of what to feel.

are you making a big deal of things? is satoru just expressing concern in his weird why? maybe they could be handling it better, but it isn’t like their intentions are malicious, you did almost die in front of them… etc etc. the seeds of self-doubt blossom until they’ve made your mind a garden.

then there’s the whole ‘you're our girlfriend now’ bit that deserves mention. satoru kicked it off and suguru went with it. you didn’t think much of it at first, especially since they both conveniently forgot to fill you in on this major development. after showering, you’ll leave the restroom to find satoru sitting on your bed in his slacks, acting like it’s the most normal thing. they stand on either side of you when you’re traveling by train. suguru’s hand finds yours when navigating busy crowds, his grip gentle while also communicating he won’t let you slip away.

you only find out that you've apparently been their girlfriend for months when satoru complains about the lack of a first kiss. when you understandably express your confusion, he coos over how you're 'acting shy.' suguru isn't much help. he opts for the gaslight route.

"you forgot the evening where we...?" he'll begin, visibly crestfallen. "but i thought... ah, never mind... no, it's nothing, really..."

(the 'evening' in question does not exist, he's trying to confuse you so you're more willing to accept this bombshell).

Today is regional elections day here in Brazil and I want to brag about it, cause we'll get the results literally today. Not only that, we have an app that tells us where to vote, how to get there and if you have any questions, it helps you with that too. It baffles me how the US is still voting with paper

Well, so as someone with a good understanding of voting technology, I am actually in favor of all paper ballot voting. Or at least keeping a paper backup. Less because of any fear of hacking (although I actually do think that is a risk we need to consider) and more out of concern of software glitches risking losing people's votes or flipping them accidentally. To pull an xkcd (2030),

Title text: There are lots of very smart people doing fascinating work on cryptographic voting protocols. We should be funding and encouraging them, and doing all our elections with paper ballots until everyone currently working in that field has retired.

Personally, I actually like all mail in voting, which is done by some US states (8 atm). You get mailed your ballot well before election day, you either mail it back or drop it off at a ballot box. It's simple, easy, no need to figure out transportation or anything like that (although you can still vote in person if you want or if you have an issue with your ballot). If the state also allows votes to be pre-counted, then you can also get the votes the same day or close to it. Since almost all votes are already counted, they just have to count votes that come in that day (and votes that were post marked that day but take a few days to get in).

This system also makes voter intimidation really hard (hard to show up to spook people from the polls when uh, there's nobody at the polls), massively reduces lines if you do need to vote in person, and gives you time with your ballot. I can sit down with my ballot at dinner and search each candidate if I don't know them/search each measure to make sure I understand the issues and am confident in my vote. That's my preferred system.

do you have any suggestions for organizations or groups or something that are doing any kind of voting campaign/vote dem campaign? i remember in 2020 there was a huge push to do phone banking in swing states, but im seeing almost none of that now, and its making me a bit nervous about the outcome of the election

i have a feeling you might need to redo the poll, since it seems like a lot of people misunderstood it. it looks like it skwes the answers? like. taking children from an outsider bc they are an enemy sounds xenophobic (maybe even racist, in a clan way) asf, but everyone votes innocence thinking its kits that are being punished. idk man, idk.

I was starting to wonder that, as a lot of the responses seemed to think I was punishing the kits, which I wasn’t! Not sure how it came across that way. I was really shocked that Innocence was outweighing the other options considering the scenario is a RippleClan cat literally stole a litter. And I don’t mean like the Pearkit and Icekit thing, like full on kidnapping from a cat that caused the Clan a lot of issues and chaos.

As such, I’m gonna do this a second time now that people better understand the situation.
