[  spar  ]  sender  pins  receiver  down  in  a  practice  fight (because Lusca needs to teach Jack how to fight)
@painofhumanity
Tumblr media
It was a bizarre feeling, being the one beneath another, pinned in place... but, despite the immediate discomfort it brought, Lusca began to laugh. Loud, brimming with pride. It would seem these lessons had been sticking, then.
" Well done, starfish. You're learning quick. The only issue is, you've left yourself open on the left... " And, in a heartbeat, the elder siren's leg swung, hooking around Jack's shin and shifting leverage to flip him. " Better than the last time. Once more. "

I'm gonna hit you with that 31, 21, 12, and 11.
31) thaaat's a tough oneee. i'm gonna say mt terajuma though? i love the vibes.
21) honestly! either Nimpossible Predicament or A Teila Fire and Ice. new terajuma is just really good i like it a lot
12) matthew changes the way his beard looks every once in a while just to make an 'inconsistency' joke to eizen
11) ( more under the cut because you just opened the floodgates sparkie )
Tumblr media
so let's give a quick overview of all of them! let's start with the classic
Tumblr media
Hephae Canestus! She's a mechanic at Xen with unhealthy loyalty issues. She likes to stare at people a lot, and she's got a fairly thick southern accent. She comes from Unova and got her love for automechanics from her father.
Tumblr media
King Caliburn! He's a grunt in Bladestar who has a hyperfixation on crustaceans. His entire team is crustacean Pokemon, and he aspires to become a veterinarian for aquatic Pokemon- but he also can't stand the way GDC is run, so he's going to help put a stop to that first.
Tumblr media
Lusca! King's best friend and boss. A Bladestar Admin who uses mollusk Pokemon, they were the reason King got into Bladestar in the first place. He's also studying to become a veterinarian.
Tumblr media
Queen Caliburn! King's sister. A teacher at Axis High, she has no clue what's happened to her brother. She knows he's in Bladestar, but him telling her that went worse than poorly, so now they're out of contact- after the events at the ball, she's worried he died.
Tumblr media
Eleanor! She's a "Destroyer of Aevium" - aka the people under Vitus who use wield eleki and drago. She's the owner of Regidrago! She's a very violent and angry person, having been raised to be an aggressive weapon by Vitus since she was a baby. She has a crush on Hazuki which unfortunately leads to her death in the Sanctuary.
Tumblr media
Raiden! The other "Destroyer of Aevium", he wields Regieleki. He's the strong, silent type, and usually lets Eleanor speak for him. He's also Eleanor's impulse control- otherwise, these two would just be getting into constant fights. He can and will beat the shit out of you, though. He manages to live into the modern day, but he's no longer a Destroyer. He's busy traveling.
Tumblr media
Nathaniel Goode! Not much to go over with him; he's basically Zeight's antivirus system while also being a virus himself. He also coincidentally looks like a Garufan programmer also named Nathan Goode. Why he does is unknown because trying to communicate with him is impossible ( he's too busy fixing the rendering engine )
whew okay breather time.
alright breather time over back to it-
Tumblr media
Gale Suite! She's a part of a family of travelers that extend over the rebornverse for the fun of it- she lives in Aevium and helps one of her family members hunt down Zygarde Cells. We'll only go over one of the other Suites to keep things as brief as humanly possible...
Tumblr media
Kim Suite! She's the eldest of the Suites and the scariest. She's got a perpetual smile and a shade always over her face- this is hiding the fact she's actually a 25% Zygarde. She's the one who gathers Cells- mostly Just In Case Something Happens. She tends to go between Reborn and Aevium.
Tumblr media
Apho! Xen Mage who has a grudge against Hephae, for some reason. Regardless they're a very quiet person who also happens to be one of the creepiest people ever, constantly muttering about doing very violent things to people they don't like.
Tumblr media
Ray and Yra! ( Yra's the one with the hat. ) Interceptor OCs based on the concept of making one different decision. Ray's paragon while Yra's renegade-- the turning point is the aftermath of Mt. Valor, where Yra decides to close herself off from everyone while Ray decides to help everyone get through it. Both are heavily committed to the Bit and tend to fail upwards in most battles.
aaand i think that's it! there might be a few i'm missing but theyyy probably dont have enough characterization for me to discuss or put here. sorry for the too long i aint reading all that post lmao

🔙 or ‘knife behind’ // sender presses a knife on receivers’ throat from behind
Tumblr media
There came only the slightest interruption in the swallow he was taking from his whiskey at the feel of the razor sharp edge against his throat -- he even took another drink before he brought the glass down to rest on the table in front of him, his movements steady and nonplussed. "If you have a desire to watch me bleed, friend," the words were crisp, the tone bordering on silken. "All you have to do is ask." He made no attempt to go for the weapon at his waist - if he wanted to do the other harm, it would take only a flick of fingers to magnify the low pulses of electricity that hummed through his seemingly attacker's own body to surge into the force of a cattle prod. "I've been known to oblige quite the many odd requests, but if you've come to take life, limb or liberty then I'm afraid ... this isn't going to end like you think it will."

At Sea Without a Map pt. 13
Tumblr media
(hey, look at that, an almost perfect 3 way split! Thanks to @fragmentaryremains and @zndr315-blog for submitting several questions/discussion prompts as well! I'll say that earns 4 questions a piece)
You decide upon three discussion topics, and decide to begin with the one that seems least personal, in order to work up the courage to discuss the other two. "What were those birds?" you ask. (Monster questions remaining: 3 of 4)
"Um, birds, I guess?" Calibani says with a shrug. "I've never seen anything like them before, to be honest." (She doesn't have an answer, so you get a mulligan! Monster questions remaining: 4 of 4)
"Well, are there any land creatures you do know of?" (Monster questions remaining: 3 of 4)
Calibani stops and thinks for a moment. "Um... I don't know. I don't go on land very often. I'm too vulnerable out of the water - I have to drag around this huge tail, and all of my blubber feels a lot heavier, so I end up moving so slowly. It's terrifying, really. Most of the creatures I've met were swimming in the sea, like me. But I have seen a few go onto land - turtles, crocodiles, and humans like you, for example. I don't know if that makes them land creatures, though."
It's not the most helpful answer, but it does illuminate some things. You hadn't considered that Calibani's, uh, voluptuousness would serve a purpose beyond luring people to their deaths, but sea animals do often need blubber for insulation and buoyancy. You briefly wonder why you knew that marine biology fact, which in turn inspires your next question. "Well, what sea creatures have you encountered, then?" (Monster questions remaining: 2 of 4)
"Oh, lots!" Calibani says with a smile. "There's all sorts of creatures out here in the Sea of Monsters, you know! Lots of fish, obviously, but I imagine you care more about the big-enough-to-eat-you things."
She takes another moment to think. "Hmm... tell you what, I've been kind of building a category system for them in my mind. Most of my fellow monsters can be sorted in two ways: first, by what kind of thing they are, and second, by how they hunt."
Tumblr media
"There are four main kinds. The first are serpents - scaly, sinuous things like snakes, crocodiles, eels, and dragons. Second come fish, with their round bodies and flippers, i.e. sharks, whales, dolphins, seals and the like. Then there's tangle-limbs, critters with lots of arms like krakens, luscas, and squids. Finally there are armorskins, who are covered in skin as tough as rocks - crabs, lobsters, turtles, et cetera."
"But it's more pressing to think of how they hunt," Calibani says with the conviction of a creature that is neither the top nor bottom of her food chain. "You have trappers, who hide or disguise themselves and passively wait for food to come to them. Then you have lurers, like me, who actively attract prey by tempting them to be reckless. Hunters take it farther, pursuing their prey without subterfuge and taking it by brute force.
"Most monsters are those three types, but there are some that are even more dangerous - the big guys. There are island beasts, who spend most of their time sleeping and are so big that people mistake them for islands, only to realize too late that they're on a giant monster. And there are ship eaters, who look for large prey exclusively. Whenever you humans have a really big boat, a ship eater inevitably comes to tear it apart, which often gives creatures like me some free meals.
"But the most dangerous of all are the True Leviathans. They're unfathomably vast and live deep in the depths of the sea, but when they come up? EVERYONE has to run. They're stronger and nastier than any other sea monster, and when they go on the prowl, no one's safe."
She smiles at you, completely oblivious to how fucking terrifying that whole spiel was. "See, I'm a serpent lurer," she says. "It's not the most thorough system of classification, but it works pretty well, don't you think?"
You gulp, still processing the nightmares her description has conjured in your mind. "Are there any nice creatures?" you ask. "Social ones, like me, who just hang out together and talk and stuff?" (Monster questions remaining: 1 of 4)
"Well, we're all social to some degree," Calibani says. "I've had some great conversations with my fellow monsters when we were both well-fed. Most creatures are only antisocial when they're hungry, you know." Her eyes flit to the ocean as she tries to find a better answer to your question. "A lot of us go it solo, though, rather than staying in groups like you humans. Well, except..." She wrinkles her nose in disgust. "Except mermaids."
"Mermaids?"
Tumblr media
"Yeah, fucking mermaids," Calibani sneers. "Stuck-up, haughty, vain, self-obsessed mermaids!" She grits her sharp, hooked fangs in anger. "Think they're better than everyone else because they're 'classically beautiful!' Fucking mermaids, Sailor, don't even get me started!"
You take her advice. "What about others of your kind? You're not the only one, surely?" (Monster questions remaining: 0 of 4)
Calibani's smile falters. "I don't know," she admits. "There might be others. There - there must be, right? Just because I've never seen or met any doesn't mean there aren't others like me out there. I can't - it'd be very sad if I was the only... oh..." She trails off, her eyes wide as she thinks about her own loneliness for a moment. "I don't like thinking about this question very much."
For her sake, you decide to change the topic. "So, you don't know who Shakespeare is-"
"Shakespeare's a person?"
"-but you do know who Jesus is," you ask, ignoring Calibani's interjection. "How's that work?" (Knowledge questions remaining: 3 of 4)
"Oh, that's easy," she says with a smile. "I learned about him from the pogos."
"...the pogos?" For a moment you think she's talking about the 50's novelty toy.
"Yeah, the pogos! They're a type of lake dragon. One pogo told me about a great land beast called the Jesus Christ. He's a terrible and powerful beast whose head is crowned with thorns, that roars like a lion and a lamb, whose tongue is a sword that he uses to slice the heads off his prey, and whose hands are constantly bleeding from the wounds inflicted upon him by his foes, the Romans. He buries his enemies in a pit of fire, which is grave disrespect given how fire is the opposite of water.
"Yet even though he is a land beast, he blesses his chosen with a sacrament of water, and if they prove their worth, he lets them suckle upon his divine blood, which turns to wine in their mouths. He is a vicious and violent monster, but he is also compassionate, and can make an endless amount of fish to feed the hungry. The pogos tell me that you can invoke his name in times of strife, be it out of fear or frustration, and he will work some of his inexhaustible power to help you navigate the situation as well as is possible. I don't know if I believe in such a creature, but there's no harm in borrowing someone else's lucky charms, right?"
You blink for a moment, considering the incredibly twisted version of Christianity this sea monster just relayed to you. "Well, it's less fucked up than what the Fundies believe," you mutter to yourself before going to the next question. "What about cheese and rice? You mentioned those too. How do you know about human foods when you've never eaten them before?" (Knowledge questions remaining: 2 of 4)
Calibani's smile becomes a bit nervous as she averts her eyes from yours. "Well, I listen in on human ships a lot," she says quietly. "Whenever I find one, anyway. Sometimes I have to wait a while before I can find a human waiting alone on a ship, so I end up overhearing a lot of conversations. I don't know what cheese and rice are beyond being some sort of food." She looks at the cooking stork thigh and licks her lips with her forked tongue. "Bet they taste good, though, especially when cooked."
"You'd win that bet." You smile, then feel your stomach grumble at the thought of some non-seafood. Living off of fish alone has been hard, and while the stork meat is a nice change of pace, you'd kill for some carbs to eat. "So is that how you learned how to speak? By listening to sailors?" (Knowledge questions remaining: 1 of 4)
"Oh no, not at all!" Calibani laughs. "I've always been able to speak!"
You shake your head. "No, someone must have taught you, right? Language is learned, after all."
"Hmm, no, I don't think so," Calibani replies. "I certainly don't remember anyone teaching me to speak. Why, do you remember someone doing that for you?"
That question hits you hard, because, well, you don't. You know that humans have to be taught language, from their parents and, like, school and stuff, but as you try to remember your own experiences with it you realize you have no recollection of who taught you to speak and how. It makes you wonder if you and Calibani have more in common than you thought. "Do you remember your childhood, Calibani?" (Knowledge questions remaining: 0 of 4)
"Of course! I hatched out of a little egg, and started swimming around looking for something to eat. Of course, I was a lot smaller then, and a lot of things thought I looked like something to eat, so I had to learn to be quick on my fins pretty fast. I kept my wits about me, ate what I could when I could, and got big and strong enough to stake out a territory of my own away from the bigger fish, and all in all it's been pretty nice!" She looks at her tail, much smaller than it used to be, and sighs. "It's going to be a while before I'm back to that size, though. Guess I've got my work cut out for me!"
Despite everything, you find yourself feeling a bit guilty about that. You shouldn't, of course - you were just trying to survive yourself, and it's not like you meant to run her over with your boat or drop her down the stairs, and none of that would have happened if she had left you alone in the first place. But if you have a right to survive, doesn't she?
Lost in thought, it takes a moment for you to notice you've allowed an awkward silence to fall on the conversation. Calibani is looking at her tail with a forlorn expression, clearly lost in her own anxieties too. A part of you insists that you try to lift her spirits, and, perhaps unfortunately, it does so by suggesting you flirt with her.
"So... were you singing when I found you?" you ask, remembering the melody you faintly heard when you saw her distant silhouette in the stormy sea the night before. "Because if so, you have a beautiful voice." (Flirts remaining: 3 of 4)
That makes her perk up immediately. "Oh, thank you! I flatter myself to think so, too. I love singing, it's my favorite hobby! And it's so good at luring... um... that is... humans like it a lot, too." She blushes blue in embarrassment at the faux pas of mentioning the people-eating thing that's clearly a point of contention with you.
Another awkward silence, and another angle for flirting comes to your mind. "It was really impressive how you killed that stork. You're really strong!" (Flirts remaining: 2 of 4)
"Oh, pshaw!" Calibani scoffs. "You could have done the same, surely!"
"No, really, I couldn't," you say.
Calibani peers at you intensely with a concerned expression on her face. "I would have said the same before today," she replies. "You never know until you try. You're the one who taught me how to use that harpoon, you know, I bet you're even better with it than I am. And if you're not, well, maybe you're just out of practice?" She gives you a small smile. "I bet you're stronger than you think."
You blush beneath the high collar of your raincoat. "I'm glad you like that sweater I gave you. I was worried the wool might be scratchy." (Flirts remaining: 1 of 4)
A wide smile spreads across Calibani's face as she rubs the sleeve on her cheek again. "Are you kidding? This thing is so soft and fuzzy, I love it! I've never felt anything like it on my scales and skin before, it's so nice!" She rubs her hand over the fleece and gives the sweater a warm look. "I've never really needed to wear clothing before, but now that I've tried it, I have to say I love it. It does get kind of heavy when it's wet, though."
"Yeah, we'll need to wash and dry it," you say. "I can find you something else to wear while we do that, though. I think there were a few other sweaters below deck."
"I'd love that!" Calibani says. "But I think this one might be my favorite. It's my first, after all."
Something in your heart warms at that. You made a pretty girl happy! Yeah, she's also a man-eating monster, but still, props for that! "I'm glad I met you, Calibani," you say earnestly. "It's been pretty lonely out here on the sea, and I know we had a rocky start, but it's nice to have made a friend." (Flirts remaining: 0 of 4)
Tumblr media
Her serpentine eyes go wide as a deep blue blush fills her cheeks. "Friends?" she squeaks out while sinking into her vast mane of hair a bit, all while her smile slowly grows. "I'm glad we're friends, too." Her smile becomes absolutely euphoric even as she withdraws further, and eventually she shakes her head and blurts out, "We're talking about me too much! What about you, Sailor? Tell me about you!"
That's hard question to answer when you have amnesia, so you consult your compass.

“What did they do to you?” ( lusca / jack )
Gentle Care
It was like living in a nightmare. He'd been tricked and drugged by his mother and sisters, only to wake up strapped down and cuffed to a surgical table, with a muzzle strapped around his face, just like when he was a little boy. It was cruelly ironic. . .Jack had almost forgotten this feeling, the sharp metal spikes digging into his face, blood dripping down because he kept trying to open his mouth, to beg them to stop--
All Jack could do was feebly struggle and let out muffled screams as his mother's friend--another siren and a doctor--prepped to sever his vocal cords, "So we can be a family again, Jackson," his mother told him. Then Lusca was there, looking like a sea storm wrapped in human skin; his own, personal, god of vengeance.
Tumblr media
Jack sobbed as Lusca, despite his look of rage, gently took the muzzle off and undid the restraints. He opened his mouth, ready to answer, but nothing would come out. It just made him feel more helpless. "L-Lus--" he choked out in a raspy whisper. Jack pushed himself up on shaky arms before dropping onto his side. He wanted off this damned table. He wanted to go home. He wanted to have the voice to tell Lusca this.

Neptune's Throne
Ahhhh, I apologize for this being so short, but honestly it's been so busy I'm just amazing I finished anything at all. Please ignore the "to be continued" style ending 😖 NGL, southern sirens should be a thing
(ALSO this isn't late, I shared it with y'all yesterday, I'm just posing it here now)
Sometimes, Alveyn missed the days he was just a fisherman.
The late October night was chilly, the sea breeze nostalgic. He sat reclined against a rocky outcropping, with a sharp edge digging into his shoulder blade, but he doesn’t dare move and disrupt anything. His life had turned upside down after his narrow escape from the Lusca off the coast of Curacao. He’d washed up on Playa Jerami, a changed man. Since Sally had vanished from his life, he’d been aimless. Hunting monsters that stalked the night seemed as good a task as any.
When there was suddenly a number of young men disappearing in Willemstad, rumors of haunting singing in the night, and increased incidents involving sudden mania? That was a recipe for a siren, far away from Greece or not. Maybe sirens were migratory? He was hardly an expert.
He’d been staking out the beach for the last few nights, waiting to hear some sort of music starting in the distance, but so far he’d seen or heard nothing. He knew it was a risk, of course, but he didn’t exactly know how to find a siren with his ears plugged. He took another long swig from his flask, absently rolling a piece of pale green sea glass across his palm.
“Howdy.” A sudden chill ran down Alveyn’s spine, turning his blood to ice. He turned in the direction of the voice, seeing a figure standing where the waves were breaking along the beach, not ten feet away. Their eyes were the color of sea glass, unnaturally bright in the dim moonlight. They had certainly not been there even a few seconds before, and yet Alveyn had not heard them approach or seen them move, nor did they show any signs of having moved quickly. There were no footprints on the beach, only the ebb and flow of the tide. “Are you planning on making a habit of drinking alone on my beach? It’s rather irritating.”
“Since when do sirens sound like they should be wearing a cowboy hat?” The figure laughs, and Alveyn feels his chest tighten against his will, weak human heart reacting to the sound.
“Meet a lot of sirens, do you? I’m surprised you even know what I am. Most humans don’t.” The figure took a few steps forward, away from the water’s edge and towards Alveyn.
“Unfortunately mate, what you are is what I came here for.” Alveyn stands up, pulling the buried rope with him, and triggering the weighted net to drop, knocking the siren to the ground. It had taken the better part of an afternoon to get the weight distribution for the mechanism just right, but it had worked even better than he had planned. “It’s nothing personal, I just got a bit tired of you eating my community members. It’s bad for morale and all that.” He approaches the flailing creature, drawing the silver dagger from his boot.
The siren flips over, piercing green eyes looking up at him. Now that the creature isn’t entirely in the shadows, Alveyn gets a good look at their face. The face is covered in jagged fading scars, their shoulders broad and muscular, webbed fingers, sharp nails. They were handsome. Unsurprising, considering what they were. Alveyn crouched to push his knee against the creature's chest, preparing to slit their throat.
“I got tired of hearing women screaming for help and no one answering them. Those men deserved to lose their hearts.” The siren’s voice had taken on a desperate edge, but it was truthful. “If I was truly going to hurt you, I could have done so last night, or the night before. You wear no protection, it would have been easy.” Alveyn hesitates. A siren with morals wasn’t the most unreasonable thing in the world. Some myths featured sirens as young people drowned or betrayed at sea, seeking a misplaced vengeance.
“What’s your name?”
“I call myself Jem.”
“Why are you here?”
“Curacao is protected water, and has been for over a century. The Throne of Neptune keeps the big creatures at bay. It protects us.” Alveyn knew the throne. Had seen it, sat on it. It was a popular dive location off fisherman’s wharf, not even 60 feet down. Not exactly a likely candidate for a great talisman of oceanic power, but he was the first to admit he was no expert. That being said, if it really had that much power, it could be usable.
“You want to earn your freedom? Show me.”

“ all have the right to be eaten ”
Tumblr media
“I -- I don’t think that’s ....”  How that went.  A thing.  The saying.   She cleared her throat gently.   It wasn’t like the concept was foreign to her.  The food chain was, and always would be, a vital part of the cycle of life and death.   She just wasn’t exactly certain how she felt about the concept when said food was ... a person.  The remains of a person.  Yes, she knew for a fact that whatever it was that made a person who they were no longer resided in them after death, and by all accounts and circumstances that should just make it meat.  “Does that -- make you -- a ....  I’m not exactly sure what you are, other than ... not entirely human, does that ... or does that not, then, fall into the category of cannibalism?”

" 'Didn't need to hit him'? " There was a dark, dangerous note beneath Lusca's calm tone... like the warning sign of a tide retreating fast, an omen of the tsunami racing to replace it. And, as he continued to speak, that wave began to swell. " He should consider himself fortunate I didn't shred him where he stood... devoured him and reduced him to the excrement he is. If he ever speaks to you that way, again, I just might. "

❝you stink of decency.❞
Tumblr media
Not one, but both of the man’s eyebrows flicked upwards at the accusation flung so easily in his direction, and for added effect, Red pressed a hand to his chest as if he’d been physically wounded.  “I have been accused of many a thing in my long life, my friend, but I’m not sure any wounded quite as deeply as that --”  A tsk, his hand sliding to his glass to raise his drink to his lips for a sip of the rum.   “What have I ever done to you that you would say such a thing, hm?”

@rubiesintherough - lusca sent an ic meme for alexander.
“Not thinking of jumping ship, are you?”
Tumblr media
The vampire’s head tilted slightly towards his shoulder, dark eyes settling onto the lithe figure of the siren crossing nearer the railing where he stood, elbows braced lightly against the wooden beams, fingers loosely interlaced.  Where his attention had been focused on the slightly choppy sea beyond, glittering tones of silver and black interlaced across the surface as moon and starlight reflected against the, for him, at least, eternally midnight black water, that focus now loitered on the jackalope, a faintly amused, faintly weary smile twitching up the edges of his lips.   “Are we speaking metaphorically or literally?”  Travel by sea was hardly new to him - he’d traveled weeks across the waters of Greece and beyond in his adolescence and early adulthood, scrabbling masts and lashing sails, amassing the dark bronze tan and roughly calloused hands that came, part and parcel, with the sea.
His thumb rubbed, absent mindedly, against the pads of his second and third fingers, pale, and smooth now to the point that the ridges of fingerprints were barely present.   “While I may not require air to function, I have little desire to fend off the beasts that lurk at the bottom of these waters while I trudge weeks west towards home,” he replied, his tone bordering on amused, head tilting up slightly to keep Lusca in the center of his focus as he came closer.   “Why – are you so easily weary of my company that you would wish to see me heaved overboard?”

Day 7: Cephalopod
(So I had to finish this before world octopus day was over, but I didn't want to be mainstream and go with a kraken. So I went with the B-movie monster from Caribbean folklore: the half octopus half shark Lusca) The Bahamas are known for many things: pristine beaches, beautiful oceans, and of course a numerous variety of natural wildlife. One animal that has eluded study for many years makes its home in the blue holes near the island of Andros. It agreed to be studied so long as we promised to not disturb its natural island home, so we have opted to use smaller cameras and minimal human interaction. It was worth it in the end for the opportunity to witness: the Lusca. Half shark and half octopus, the Lusca seems more like a creature from the minds of movie makers, but was instead born out of Caribbean folklore. No one knows how long the Lusca has lived for or if there are others of its kind, but it sadly declined to answer any of our questions. As a belief based entity, it of course does not require nourishment but still hunts on very rare occasions, which we are lucky to witness. It mainly uses its siphon akin to normal octopus species to gain speed which is enhanced by the aerodynamic body of the shark half. Its carnivorous behavior may be tied to the species the halves represent, with the shark half resembling a bull shark and the tentacles resembling a Caribbean reef octopus. It closes in on a nearby humpback whale, using natural chromatophores spread throughout the entire body to camouflage as natural sea water. It attacks much like a giant squid would, rotating its body to use the tentacles to grasp the whale. Then it moves the whale to its jaws where it consumes the whale messily, leaving plenty of flesh still on the creature. Once it has finished its meal, it retreats further down into the waters, camouflaging once again signaling that it was tired of us and that we should leave.
