this is gonna sound so funny from The Pig and Duck Person BUT i just want to again thank you all and tell you how much the support has meant for my shilling of this film/countless pig and duck posting, i get very stuck inside my head and feel like i have to tamp down on my posting and "if i post too much about the pig and duck something catastrophic will happen" (hyperbole. but i live by a very neurotic set of self appointed rules, even for as freeform and enthusiastic as i am) and my neuroses about these characters is. Kyle Broflovski: Gemini - Air Sign - The Twins

What does it mean to be an air sign? Well, the element air suggests that they are adaptable, adventurous and curious. Not only that, but they are the thinkers, communicators and ideators of the zodiac signs, valuing conversation, intelligence and innovation. They bring a breath of fresh air to every situation, but due to their focus on intelligence they can also appear to be emotionally detached and at times, unsympathetic towards people (although, this differs within the three individual signs). Gemini’s specifically are clever, intuitive and social, making them great leaders but they have issues processing their emotions and therefore, can act out. These are all the Gemini traits within Kyle that we are going to explore in this piece, with examples referenced. 

Although sometimes fan works can whittle down Kyle’s whole personality into being the smart one, despite him being a well rounded person, there is no denying that this is an essential part of his character. His intelligence is often what leads the other parts of his personality to shine like his social justice work and his various hobbies, including a number of different sports (basketball, football, dodgeball). He is intelligent in a number of different ways, including in the traditional sense, where he is good at his school work and he cares about getting good grades. We can see this in episodes like Follow That Egg! where he doesn’t particularly care about Stan’s jealousy, or Wendy’s weird attachment to their egg or Ms Garrison's homophobic experiment, he just wants a good grade. So much so that he swaps the egg Stan takes home, because he insists he can take care of it himself, with a fake one, risking Stan getting even more angry at him, all to secure a good grade.

Kyle is also intelligent in a social and cultural way, he understands the point of view of the most oppressed in society and he makes it his mission to care for these people and seek justice. This is one of his main points of contention with Cartman, who takes every opportunity to be offensive to every marginalised group, most notably the Jewish community, which Kyle is a part of. An example of this is Kyle’s anger at Cartman for dehumanising the homeless when he uses them as something to jump over in Night of the Living Homeless. 

Kyle is not only someone who is intelligent in his own right, but he is also someone who welcomes a life lesson, who is happy that he has learnt something new. This is especially clear in the early seasons, when he and Stan (another air sign), often alternated saying “I learnt something today” before summarising the lesson learnt/moral of the episode. He is a sponge that wants to soak up any and all information he can get, making him the “smartest kid in class”, as Kenny has previously described him. With Gemini’s often hailed as the smartest in the zodiac, being the sign with the most Nobel Prize winners (97), along with their strong communication skills, it is clear that these traits are evident in Kyle’s characterisation and often why he is headcanoned in positions of power (Gemini’s are natural born leaders) in fan works that depict him as older. A popular example of this is him being a lawyer, like Gerald.

However, his intelligence can also be seen as a Catch-22. Gemini’s, more often than not, like to rationalise their emotions instead of feeling them. They are worried about getting caught up in emotions that they are unable to control, which results in them reacting to their emotions rather than feeling them. We see this with Kyle, as anger seems to be one of his more prominent emotions as the show has developed. This can cause Gemini’s to seem more emotionally detached than other signs, and this is explained beautifully in this post by @mantequillamcwhoremick about Kyle and his low empathy. Kyle reacts to situations of injustice less so because he feels empathy towards a person or situation, but more so because he knows logically what is the right and wrong thing to do, in comparison to Stan, who leads with his empathy. This does not mean that Kyle has no empathy, we still see him exhibit these emotions, but he tends to lead more with his head than his heart.

Intelligence is not the only Gemini trait that Kyle exhibits, but also his strong communication. As touched upon briefly, Gemini is the sign of communication, meaning they talk. A lot. We can see this in Kyle, he is good at expressing his anger, yes, and Gemini’s are known for using cutting words in a fight. He also talks through why someone is wrong and what the right thing to do is, but that is not the only form of communication that he excels in. In Kenny Dies, we see Kyle take the reins of the friendship group that is falling apart due to Kenny’s impending death. We see him communicate to Stan why it is important for him to be there in Kenny’s last moments, why they need to be tough together. We see him talk and comfort Cartman, of all people, when he is in emotional distress at the thought of losing Kenny. Finally, we see him being the only one in the hospital, talking to Kenny as he shows drawings that his classmates made him. 

Kyle’s ability to communicate effectively helps him immensely with his social abilities, it makes him likeable and charismatic and we see this numerous times in the show. Kyle’s friendship with Tolkien (a fellow Gemini), who is not a part of the established core 4/5, is an example of this. In Cupid Ye, we see them bond over their shared interest of making TikToks, a social media app. They have a shared account where they post videos of them dancing and lip-syncing to trending sounds. They do this without the fear of appearing cringe, and their confidence seems to shine through the camera as Kyle is shown receiving compliments from Bebe, Red and Butters. His confidence and social ability make him likeable and charismatic, like many other Geminis. 

This is not only reserved for friendships, but also his love interests in the show. If we take Nichole, for example, she was quick to proclaim that she had a crush on him even if she was new to school in Cartman Finds Love. When Kyle found out about this, he did not shy away from the fact or doubt his abilities, he actively went and sought out her friends to find out what she likes to do and plan a date that they would both enjoy. This shows his abilities to talk to people, shows his confidence, shows that he can plan an enjoyable social event for all parties involved.

All in all, it is clear that Kyle has many of the traits that Geminis are known for, both good and “bad”. He is intelligent, sometimes to a fault, but he is also communicative, social and charismatic. He is someone who is confident, though at times can appear emotionally detached and leads with his head more so than his heart.

Hello hi hope you’re doing well hehehe IFFFFFF you ever did wanna write for Jayce I nad an idea.....l've seen posts about people wanting more fics of a more buff fem reader LIKE HELL YEAH (Cuz | workout) and l just love the idea of Jayce being into a buff girl (or guy) (or gn because I know you write a lot of gn stuff!!) cuz we know this man is such a sub sometimes and I know he'd get so so flustered if he saw you working out. look, jayce got his muscles mostly from working at the forges (and... genetics, i guess), and logically, he knew that people who were muscular typically did something to get or at least maintain those muscles, and subsequently were able to do some work that required muscles, he knew that. he just hadn't, you know. considered it. before. in his head. he hadn't thought about it.

so he was not prepared to see you hauling some goddamn ten-feet-long steel beams around the lab like it was nothing. he has to wait for the cogs in his brain to do a full circle as he registers this, takes in the sight of your disgarded jacket and the fucking muscles rippling under your skin as you lifted another one of those beams up on one shoulder, already turning to apparently carry them on to the storage.

the beams are visibly heavy, heavy enough to slowly bend at the ends just a little under their own gravity, and then slowly waver with your movement as you straighten your stance. and you do it with the damn ease of lifting the coffee pot, just, you know, casually hauling these goddamn steel beams around for him, no big deal, just some light work around the lab.

those beams probably weighed like a good percentage of how much he did. and you're just! picking one up! and throwing it around! god, you don't even look like it's hard.

and he's just standing there, gathering the remains of his brains from the gutter.

"Viktor said these need to be moved," you tell him as a way of explanation over your shoulder.

"What?" he asks, with all of one brain cell sparking to life.

you smile at him over the beam, and oh, that should be illegal. "These were delivered today, Viktor said they should be in there," you explain, nodding towards the open door.

Jayce opens his mouth. and then closes it.

"Ah." he says. "Yes."

the pinnacle of thought, he thinks with an internal sigh, ladies and gentlemen, jayce talis, genius of the people. whose brain turns to mush at the sight of-

gods, it's not as if it's a leap to go from 'this person is attractive and demonstrates enough skill and strength and muscle control -because that was the difficult part, wasn't it, control- that they could probably throw you around like a sack of potatoes' to 'i think i would enjoy that' because-

he can hear you place down the steel beam with a clang that sounds like it wasn't the first of many.

and then you re-emerge from the storage room dusting off your hands against each other, cleaning them of what he could imagine to be metallic dust and leftover packaging fibres from the beams.

something in jayce, unfairly, purrs at the sight. curls into itself at the pit of his stomach. paws at him from there, tugging at the base of his spine.

he decides to ignore this as best as he can, and instead, takes a breath. "let me help you," he says, then shakes his head a little, "this isn't even your job in the first place."

you just shrug with a grin, and help him pick up one of the beams as he hauls it up on his shoulder. it was heavy, and, annoyingly, his brain decides to use this to cement his earlier hypothesis about your strength.

he hadn't thought you weak before, not by any means, he just... hadn't seen you in action, so to speak.

he takes a deep breath. steels his core, lifts with his legs.

"I just wanted to help," you answer, "besides, i could use the workout."

Jayce exhales a laugh, before composing himself again. "alright," he shrugs off the beam and places it on the pile of others, and you soon follow.

as you place down your own beam, he helps. it's easier to balance it with two pairs of hands, and the sound of it hitting the pile is softer this time.

he can see some oil stains on your shirt where the beams had rested against your shoulder, and a part of him winces at it. that'd be difficult to get out. the oil their metal parts usually came coated in was.

you're just straightening your shirt and smiling at him. like you're at home in their stupid storage room, helping him with this like it's a given. he didn't even ask.

"still," he says, taking a deep breath and trying to gather his brain into something in semblance of reasonable, "thank you." he exhales, and means it. "let me make it up to you," he continues, and he means that, too.

"do you want to like," he says, his words suddenly feeling sticky and stupid and too big for his mouth, "get coffee or something?" he exhales, then, "my treat," he adds, before he can even inhale.

you grin at him, and dust off your hands again, and oh, his spine is liquefying. cool. nice. great. he wanted to be a puddle anyway.

Been thinking about idw1's outliers lately, and how sort of wild the whole concept is from a worldbuilding standpoint, and it struck me that most confirmed outlier abilities tend to be really useful, or flashy, or powerfully dangerous, and few to none tend to be like, really boring, or totally impractical, or even entirely useless? Which, doesn't really make sense when considering the fact that outlier abilities are seemingly random.

Surely not everyone who's born an outlier gets something useful?

And I don't mean like, "good" useful, but any sort of useful, even if that means you can kill people with your voice, or give a power boost by exploding yourself, those are still "useful".

But surely there had to be some with abilities that were totally impractical, or nonbeneficial, or at the very least just insignificant or purely aesthetic and pointless?

-> speaking of his bossy nature, he can get a bit mean about it but the good kind of mean. if you're letting him take and keep control then good luck to you because he'll take his time and have his fun in a delightful form of torture i'm sure.

-> while he does have a preference for being the one on top and calling the shots, he's capable of playing the other role. don't tell him i told you this but he loves it when he's got a partner that'll put him in his place. he loves a challenge, what can i say?

-> it probably goes without saying that he likes it rough, huh? pull his hair, scratch him, bite him. this is the same man who thinks fighting is a form of foreplay.

-> sorry for those of you only getting him for a one night stand because he won't hang around for long afterwards, if you ask him to cuddle you to sleep then sure he'll stick around for that but as soon as you're asleep he's gone. a gentleman. i mean, he will clean up after himself before he leaves so at least he's nice like that?? if you're sleeping with him on the regular then it'll take some time for him to not just leave after, but he's clingy and affectionate too.

-> while he's not a loud partner in bed, mouthing off aside, he does really enjoy having louder partners and thus finding out all the ways to get them to make noise, it's probably his favourite pass time.

-> i'm adding this just because i think it's funny, but you can tie him up if you want, just don't be surprised when you find that he's somehow gotten free of the restraint in question, especially if you're using handcuffs. just avoid using those, i think it's just autopilot for him to escape cuffs no matter the situation.
