his insecurity regarding whether Louis wanted him, and a desperate need to please him doing what he considered himself to be best at (depressing).

Lestat being so so so desperate for Louis to love him and want him (and so insecure about whether he does) is both heartbreaking and really hot, and you capture both so well. Seriously the way you write Louis and Lestat is unbelievable, it's just so complex and fascinating and feels so right.

It is an interesting thing about Lestat's character to me--he seems to genuinely love sex (with Louis), and he seems to enjoy his own beauty (and it makes sense that he wants the man he loves to find him beautiful)....but then there's the deeply sad and unhealthy sense that, as you said, he thinks sex/his body and looks are the main things he has to offer.

That's extremely generous to say, thank you so much!!!

I think you're right, Lestat in canon (and in my fic I guess!) does seem to genuinely enjoy sex and his body, but he also seems to put a lot of stock in it when it comes to how he perceives his relationship with Louis. I would expand on that maybe, and say that I think he's very concerned with making sure he's 'useful' in general or more accurately, that he's 'providing' for his loved ones. It's been talked about to death but it's very much a seventh-son-wolfkiller-magnus'-heir kinda thing.

So I'd say sex, money and food are the three things he sees himself as responsible for providing for his family. I think this is part of why he takes it so personally when Louis stops eating, stops having sex with him and when he wants to keep, you know, working for his money lmao. If Lestat isn't giving him these things, then what is he good for?

To be clear I'm not trying to like, justify his actions or explain away his abuse or whatever. I mostly just agree that I think it's fun and hot when he's insecure and acts insane about it <3

#thank you anon this was fun to answer i enjoy thinking about lestat's crazy brain....#really interested in his relationship to sex and sexuality and looking forward to see what they do with it in s3 #and in the meantime i can do my own thing in the reverse au verse #honestly this is partly why i wrote him as having done gray-area sex work before the story #because i think in canon it's partly being chosen for his looks (and presumably assaulted) by magnus that informed a lot of this stuff #and since that doesn't happen in this story i wanted something that could work for the issues he has around sex #tho you could argue louis went after him for similar reasons as magnus in this one 😬#it would be an uncharitable interpretation because he loved him for more than his looks but i think that's partly how lestat sees it rip #anyway. fun #ask #the house was a funeral pyre
