how c.ai works and why it's unethical

Okay, since the AI discourse is happening again, I want to make this very clear, because a few weeks ago I had to explain to a (well meaning) person in the community how AI works. I'm going to be addressing people who are maybe younger or aren't familiar with the latest type of "AI", not people who purposely devalue the work of creatives and/or are shills.

The name "Artificial Intelligence" is a bit misleading when it comes to things like AI chatbots. When you think of AI, you think of a robot, and you might think that by making a chatbot you're simply programming a robot to talk about something you want them to talk about, and it's similar to an rp partner. But with current technology, that's not how AI works. For a breakdown on how AI is programmed, CGP grey made a great video about this several years ago (he updated the title and thumbnail recently)

I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you watch this because CGP Grey is good at explaining, but the tl;dr for this post is this: bots are made with a metric shit-ton of data. In C.AI's case, the data is writing. Stolen writing, usually scraped fanfiction.

How do we know chatbots are stealing from fanfiction writers? It knows what omegaverse is [SOURCE] (it's a Wired article, put it in incognito mode if it won't let you read it), and when a Reddit user asked a chatbot to write a story about "Steve", it automatically wrote about characters named "Bucky" and "Tony" [SOURCE].

I also said this in the tags of a previous reblog, but when you're talking to C.AI bots, it's also taking your writing and using it in its algorithm: which seems fine until you realize 1. They're using your work uncredited 2. It's not staying private, they're using your work to make their service better, a service they're trying to make money off of.

"But Bucca," you might say. "Human writers work like that too. We read books and other fanfictions and that's how we come up with material for roleplay or fanfiction."

Well, what's the difference between plagiarism and original writing? The answer is that plagiarism is taking what someone else has made and simply editing it or mixing it up to look original. You didn't do any thinking yourself. C.AI doesn't "think" because it's not a brain, it takes all the fanfiction it was taught on, mixes it up with whatever topic you've given it, and generates a response like in old-timey mysteries where somebody cuts a bunch of letters out of magazines and pastes them together to write a letter.

(And might I remind you, people can't monetize their fanfiction the way C.AI is trying to monetize itself. Authors are very lax about fanfiction nowadays: we've come a long way since the Anne Rice days of terror. But this issue is cropping back up again with BookTok complaining that they can't pay someone else for bound copies of fanfiction. Don't do that either.)

Bottom line, here are the problems with using things like C.AI:

It is using material it doesn't have permission to use and doesn't credit anybody. Not only is it ethically wrong, but AI is already beginning to contend with copyright issues.

C.AI sucks at its job anyway. It's not good at basic story structure like building tension, and can't even remember things you've told it. I've also seen many instances of bots saying triggering or disgusting things that deeply upset the user. You don't get that with properly trigger tagged fanworks.

Your work and your time put into the app can be taken away from you at any moment and used to make money for someone else. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people who use AI panic about accidentally deleting a bot that they spent hours conversing with. Your time and effort is so much more stable and well-preserved if you wrote a fanfiction or roleplayed with someone and saved the chatlogs. The company that owns and runs C.AI can not only use whatever you've written as they see fit, they can take your shit away on a whim, either on purpose or by accident due to the nature of the Internet.

DON'T USE C.AI, OR AT THE VERY BARE MINIMUM DO NOT DO THE AI'S WORK FOR IT BY STEALING OTHER PEOPLES' WORK TO PUT INTO IT. Writing fanfiction is a communal labor of love. We share it with each other for free for the love of the original work and ideas we share. Not only can AI not replicate this, but it shouldn't.

I think he'd be extremely supportive. Sometimes a little overbearing. Some people might enjoy him wanting to come to every show, while some people may say “dude, calm down”. 

Your ringtone on his phone is one of your songs for sure 

He also asks for some of your merch for free since ya know, debt 😀

If there's a dance that goes along with it, I can definitely see him learning it and showing you how good (bad) he is 

Please let him be in your music videos. He's on his knees begging

This may sound selfish but he's hoping your popularity will increase his. When we meet him, his fame is dying out so he's hoping being seen with you will remind people he exists 

Don't get it misconstrued though. He adores you. He just can't help but have these thoughts 

Probably makes you promise to dedicate a song to him too. Realistically he wants an album but he'll take whatever

He's so Ken coded to me and remember, Ken only has a great day if Barbie looks at him. You're his Barbie, regardless of gender 

Kenshi Takahashi 

Considering the fact that he's on the run from the Yakuza, uhhhh he's not the happiest 

Is he proud? Yeah. But dating him puts a huge target on your back. Kenshi can hide. You, as a popstar, can't do that. You're always in the spotlight. And since the Yakuza got connections, they'd find out somehow. 

He'd encourage you to take a break until things cool over. Only problem is he doesn't know when that'd be, and the music industry is competitive. You don't have time to be on a break. People could forget about you. 

Under any other circumstance, he'd be happy for you. Not many people can make it in the music industry. There are tons of people who have big plans but settle for less. 

In any other circumstance he'd listen to your songs, spread the word about your concerts, buy your merch cause he's not in debt, even attend a few concerts. 

Now though, he's uptight and worried. Every concert you have he's worried will be your last. Any fan meet you have he's worried will end in death. 

I honestly think he'd try to actively avoid anything that has to do with your career. It's a constant reminder that you're doing the exact opposite of what he's asking you to and you're putting yourself in danger. This could possibly cause a lot of arguments since he could come off as controlling when in reality he's worried and trying to be cautious 

He's trying to avoid anything to do with your career but every playlist he has has your songs sprinkled throughout them 

Overall he's proud of you but life has him pretty uptight. He'll be his normal self once he restores his clan. 

Kung Lao

This cocky little shit is so hype his partner is famous 

I can see him talking about your music with others like “my partner? They make music. You probably know them. I don't know yours though cause they're unknown. How are y'all paying the bills?”

You tell him not to do that but he continues anyway. Everyone had to know how awesome you were compared to them

Idk why I have this scene in my head of him buying your concert tickets to sell it again but make it more expensive. I legit don't know why but I couldn't ignore it. 

Kung Lao has such a huge ego and your success does not help that. In fact, it makes it worse

I can see him “helping” with lyrics but the shit he tries to add is dog shit so you do not add it, which he does not get.

Honestly I don't think anyone would even know you're dating. He's just too shy. 

With Johnny, he's famous and has no shame so that's how people know you're together. The Yakuza is out here so that's how they know about you and Kenshi. Kung Lao is Kung Lao, idk how else to explain it. With Raiden though, I don't think he'd want your fans to know you're dating. 

He's shy and also values privacy and you respect that. Your fans know you're dating someone just not who. 

He probably has a second account he uses to stay up to date with fan discourse 

Likes every edit of you and shows you them.

I don't think he's a big concert person. I don't know why. At least not a huge, no personal space type of concert. So I think he'd do other things to support like using that second account to promote your activities, reposting edits, and buying your stuff.

Knowing how the past timelines were though, your life was probably chaotic and your music career was probably disturbed by the constant threats 

Seeing you just having fun and making music in this timeline would make him extremely happy and proud of himself for creating such a peaceful timeline (at first)

Liu Kang has glowing eyes so there's a chance concerts aren't happening, but I think he'd still stream your music like everyone else 

Would probably try to keep you far away from any disturbances. When he takes his champions to Outworld, he makes up a lie. He doesn't want what you're passionate about disturbed at all 

Supportive in the sense that he's always going to say “yes” to whatever ideas you have. A breakup song? Great idea. A fun party song? Awesome. A fan meet? Sounds fun. 

He genuinely just wants you happy this time and music makes you happy. 

You could talk him into using his fire as some background effect as long as others won't see 

He talks you into doing smaller performances at Madam Bo's. You're spying on Raiden and Kung Lao without even knowing 

Whenever you find out about the shit storm going on, he does not want you involved and will say so. He wants you to focus on your passion and let him take care of it. Whether you do or not is up to you 

After all that though you'd probably end up making music for Johnny's movie about shit that happened. He doesn't disapprove but thinks you can do better than make a soundtrack for Johnny 'Big Mouth’ Cage

Getting exponentially tired of the “elriels want 👹” posts in the elain tags where they proceed to either A) outright invent stuff B) act holier than thou about how they care so much for Elain because they C) misconstrue the little they hear from our side in bad faith, or D) just completely miss the point they’re addressing.

it’s one thing to be bitter about a ship, but geez theyre getting mad at generalizations they made up about what we think. it has to be tiring. non?

Im genuinely convinced all these “ewriel”-myths they keep talking about are a result of a bad game of telephone—they hear a random thing a gwynriel says, go “they’re all stupid/delusional/immature (insult of choice) so i don’t doubt what you’re saying”, then repeat it to others.

It’s obvious by the way they wholeheartedly believe that Elain is our puritanical-warrior-self-insert we use to vicariously F Azriel (😃✋). Doesn’t help that they usually don’t look as deeply into Elain as we do & tend to get stuck on obviously superficial statements about her: they cannot seem to fathom an Elain that isn’t just a once-bright socialite wilting away sans her sun-mate. So any hint of darkness/savviness we see in her is just us moulding her into Y/N. sigh

I can say i’ve read their posts on here, a ton prior to being involved and some now. I’ve seen their tiktoks & video essays, their powerpoints & reddit posts. i’ve seen their comments all over insta/tiktok (kinda hard to miss, they jump on elriel content with their “um shadows and um pliable bones and mates!!” comments). I am WELL aware of what the general consensus is on that side—which is why I am generally unbothered by GA, don’t mind EL, and am just peacefully sailing aboard my ship waiting for it to reach destination.

And because I care about Elain’s journey, I try to see the story the way they do when i encounter certain elucien arguments. For if i am to even just privately engage in the sHip wArs, i know to remain ✨critical✨ and ✨open minded✨.

… there’s no point turning discussions into angry posts against imaginary adversaries.

EVERY elriel i’ve talked to would read an elucien book because it is Elain’s story we are most anticipating. It’s just very telling to me that very few would do the same; that there’s not a whiff of willingness from most of them to listen to the other side.

The funny thing is that all those anti eWrieL posts** i’ve read tend to address twisted versions of “the elriel narrative.” They take things out of context, or say we have the same 3 arguments—which is genuinely insane bc if you know our ship so well, how can you be off by like 2 orders of magnitude ??? (exaggerating if it wasn’t clear, we can’t know these days).

** Their pro GA content reads very anti-Az, used to be very anti-elain, and has a narrow scope ngl. While the bonus matters, it seems like that is ALL they’ve read. They don’t think much about Elain’s journey or powers or decisions, which is just logically not the best way to analyze the series given she IS what’s to come.

I am here to talk about Taco dynamic headcanons. Because the relationships between the Inanimate Island residents are INTERESTING and I enjoy EXPLORING THEM!!!

Starting off with Pickle because. uh. It's complicated. Pickle does not forgive Taco, and he thinks she's kind of a mess and needs to let go of him, but he doesn't like. Hate her? He can tolerate her if he must but will not willingly start a conversation with her and certainly will not start an argument. His thoughts are as follows: "I don't think she's incapable of change or anything. I just want her to be capable of change away from me."

I feel like Taco and Soap would get along for the most part. They're both theater kids who like to sing and are friends with Mic (who I think is really, REALLY trying to get Taco to make new friends). They talk shit about people together and occasionally Taco will let Soap kick her butt in a video game. Soap is the only one reminding Taco to practice basic hygiene. That woman has lived in the woods for the past god-knows-how-long there is no way she remembers to brush her teeth regularly.

My autistic ass has to bring this guy into everything so I bring you: Taco and A.D.A.M. friendship. I like to think that ever since Adam first met Taco during season 1, he knew she was a liar and that there was no way anyone could actually be that stupid. Taco didn't realize immediately that something was up with Adam but very quickly learned he was hiding something: a suspicion that would be confirmed when she saw the Gemory that revealed he's a robot. They were acquainted in s1 but it's not until post-canon that they start hanging out more. They're both secret-keeping little freaks who are desperate for connections with others but push people away anyway. And I'm not saying they would enable each other's negative behavior but like. They would enable each other's negative behavior. Luckily they have Mutual Friend Toilet™ to spray them with a little water bottle and scold them for being self-destructive but they really need to confront their issues themselves. (I have given A.D.A.M far too much unnecessary depth.)

Now that THAT absolute unit of a paragraph is out of the way I shall say that Taco and Balloon NEED to interact immediately and I'm not just saying that because they're friends in my ii save in the Sims 4. They are two sides of the same coin istg. They need to talk about their exile from the rest of the season 1 gang and discuss the arts and go see a Broadway show together. They would probably make fun of each other's voices tbh. They seem like they would do that.

I cannot think of any other characters to throw Taco into a room with. So. This is the end of the ask. I like Taco ii and character interactions.

Soap and Taco should talk shit about the others. Taco knows a ton from her spying and who knows what Soap has found while she's cleaned their rooms. And Soap would be a great help with Taco's hygiene. I do think others like Mic would try to help and remind her too, but Soap would definitely be very on top of it.

Did A.D.A.M. met Taco in season 1? I don't recall him meeting any of the contestants, just calling Mephone. Regardless, yeah, she'd probably see through him, I tend to think she's remarkably skilled in telling when others are lying as well as lying herself. Taco would probably want to hang out with him more post-canon (an au in which he survives, I suppose), since she misses Mepad so much, and A.D.A.M. is also a Meeple product.

And it's true Taco and Balloon do need to interact. Balloon already deals with Nickel, he and Taco could get along swimmingly! Though I think they'd both get a little annoyed about their voices being mocked rather than doing it to each other.

does y/n ever bring stuff from the outside world into the haunt for the boys? ik you’ve written about movies, but i was thinking about toys, props, little gifts and souvenirs from the places they visit. Showing the boys photos and videos on their phone.

i know that i definitely would be thinking about my weird endearing robo clown coworkers all the time when i was away from the job and want to show them little bits of the world outside since they cant experience it for themselves. im curious also if the haunt management would actually discourage this sorta thing but y/n sneaks nicknacks in anyway 😝

I could very much see yn showing the boys pictures and memes and shit on their phone or when they bring a laptop in for movie night. Physical gifts would be a bit harder, because the boys don't have any sort of space to like. actually keep stuff you know? The closest thing would be Sun's 'stage' for his scenes with yn, but thats part of the show and very much can't be decorated. Any gifts would have to be hidden away, most likely in the vents/crawl spaces Moon uses to sneak between rooms.

but now that you've suggested it I can't stop thinking about it it's so fun! Like imagine they have to do some repair work on the vents and they just find a shit ton of random stuff with no explanation for how it got there?? And yn and the boys both just have to be like 'thats sooo weird! wonder who's responsible?' and walk away while whistling.

I think if management caught wind they'd probably have a sit down talk with yn about not anthropomorphizing the animatronics. Because, yes, they move and talk like humans and can respond to what you're saying, but they don't have feelings. They don't need gifts. And it would be really awkward for everyone involved (and very embarrassing/frustrating for yn who Knows the boys are more sentient than everyone thinks) and would probably drive a further wedge between yn and the rest of their coworkers because like. that's Weird right?? Hello mutual I was raised off of "afton family gets stuck in a room with their past selves for 24 hours gacha life" videos I've played through this exact scenario in my head about 300 times from every possible angle so thank you for asking

Uh anyway Seidou would. not take it well. As in imo it would probably shatter his fragile self-esteem and self-image completely and leave him a wreck. To learn that despite everything, all the work he's done, all the effort he's put in, not only did he fail, but he went in the complete opposite direction of what he sought to become. He wanted to become a respected investigator, wanted to protect his loved ones, and now any hope he had at that future is just. gone. He's doomed to become a monster, and he can't do anything about it. I think part of him would wonder if he was already that monster, if he already had those murderous urges deep within him just waiting to be unearthed. I think if left unchecked he'd probably get pretty drastic with his actions but I think with sufficient comforting he'd become somewhat stable, albeit with absolutely no idea what to do next.

If ghoul Seidou met his past self, he would probably get a kick out of tormenting him. A weak specter of the person he used to be, the person he'd killed long ago. Because that person was naive and idiotic, and he wasn't that person anymore.

Anyway uh family hcs!

Seidou takes after his mom a lot, she's also a perfectionist and she unintentionally taught it to him. on a lighter notes he's also very strict about the importance of meals like her too

Michie spoils her son a lot, I hc that she's gone through some shit in life and she's scared of losing him so she coddles him a ton

Because of this Seidou tends to gravitate towards his mom while Seina tends to gravitate towards their dad because she sees him as more fair

Seidou and Seina have a good albeit typical sibling relationship so you cannot put them in the same room without them screaming at each other

One time when they were kids Seina threw Seidou's game boy down the stairs and he tried to commit attempted murder but its okay they were both fine

Seina also knows all of Seidou's secrets that she holds as blackmail. He's tried to find some of hers but to no avail

Seidou's dad (hc name for him is Tetsuo) is sort of the stricter parent (to Seidou at least), but he's still close with his son. they like playing sports together. He's tried to teach Seidou how to golf multiple times but they decided they should stick to baseball instead

Asides from his immediate family, the rest of Seidou's family consists of his paternal grandparents and his maternal aunt

Michie comes from a very superstitious family since her family was "cursed" a long time ago. said curse was actually just a variety of undiagnosed mental illnesses that had been circulating through the gene pool for generations

Her older sister was a recipient of said "curse" and Michie blames herself because her older sister practically gave up her childhood to raise her and the stress made her symptoms worse, hence why Michie coddles Seidou so much

Speaking of that personal hc Seidou ended up developing schizoaffective disorder as a result of the gene pool lottery when he was a teenager and spent about a month in and out of school with doctors trying to figure out what was wrong with him and prescribe him the right medications. after high school he ended up doing pretty well up until his kidnapping

Seidou wasn't allowed to have pets for most of his life since it was one of the few places where his father would put his foot down, but when he graduated high school, they finally got him Rocky and of course Tetsuo ended up loving him

Michie is the type of person to wake up at the crack of dawn and also wake everyone else in the house up to "start the day bright and early." Seidou doesn't mind too much but Seina would rather sleep until 2 pm

Seidou is fairly close with his family but, aside from Seina who finds out a lot of things because she's his sister and needs blackmail material, he doesn't actually tell his parents a lot because he's scared of worrying them.

Up until Seidou's graduation I feel like they were the type of family to have like family game nights and family movie nights every week for bonding purposes. Seidou and Seina argued a lot but it was fun and after everything goes to shit, they provided a lot of good memories to look back fondly on

Michie does most of the cooking in the house, but sometimes Tetsuo will force politely ask her to take a break and cook for her instead. She always says he doesn't have to but she's always secretly grateful. Kid Seidou would get upset though because he only wanted his mom's cooking ;w;

Ok, there is no quick and easy way to explain all of this so...behind a cut we go.

It's never been fully explained, but something happened that caused that entire friendgroup to fall apart. Jake and Corey stopped appearing in snc videos and moved out as soon as their first year lease was up, and while none of the parties involved ever came right out and talked about it, it was pretty clear based on things that were alluded to by all parties that there had been a breakdown in the friendships, mostly due to snc becoming Jake and Corey's landlords (as snc owned the house), mixed with Jake and Corey not wanting to be in snc videos anymore.

Around that same time, snc had a falling out with Kevin Langue (according to Mike, it was because snc asked Kevin to please stop constantly showing up to their house with a camera in hand, while Kevin himself alluded to feeling "used" which is...interesting lol. They seem to have gotten over whatever happened there, but that added to some of the drama). They would also later have some kind of business related falling out with Reggie Webber, who had been their personal channel editor for some time.

Honestly, in retrospect, all of that seems like they all just let business negatively impact their personal relationships, and they all seem to have since made up and moved on from it and regained most (if not all) of those friendships... but all of that definitely helped fracture the group a bit.

And then there was Elton.

The Elton saga is long and drawn out and involves a shit ton of drama. I think if you look through the Elton Castee tags on my blog, you might be able to go down a rabbit hole and get the full gist of what kind of fuckery was going on there for 2 years, but let me see if I can attempt to cliff note it for ya.

When snc announced their intention to flip to the short-lived 25x25 series, Elton (for whatever reason) decided to accuse them of stealing his TFIL idea and started shit talking them up and down every avenue of the internet that he could. Corey, who was at the time still living with snc, made it apparent that he sided with Elton on this matter. Corey announced he was moving out of the traphouse (and purposefully dropped the announcement at the same day and time snc were dropping a 25x25 video which I found interesting) and announced his intention to both "stay out of drama" (lie) and "go back to making dancing and music content" (bigger lie). He then stood happily by Elton's side while he happily and gleefully did whatever he could to shade snc (to whatever the opposite of great success was, cause this just made them both look bad and garnered both a fair bit of enemies). This all culminated in a mutual unfollowing between snc and Elton, which occurred while they all happened to be in Ukraine trying to film at Chernobyl at the same time (also interesting).

At some point in the midst of all of this, an old clip of snc talking about traphouse 1 drama between Elton, Corey and their girlfriends on a youtube membership podcast resurfaced and Devyn and Corey hit the roof. Devyn ranted about them behind her private twitter and then Corey came out and started ranting about god knows (or cares about) what, which culminated in him declaring "I keep my drama off social media LIKE A MAN," which is still the funniest thing that man has ever said, if you ask me. Snc never responded to any of this, but did subsequently delete pretty much all of their old youtube membership podcasts, so I'm sure the drama continued off social media (like MEN).

Anyway, for the most part, snc never commented on any of this (aside from a few very vague posts about cutting negative people out of your life from Sam, and one instance of Colby laughing at negative comments towards Elton in a livestream). All of the rest of the shady comments and shit talk came from Elton and occasionally Corey. And there was plenty of it. Seriously. Elton was an anti-snc machine for a while there. He would've fit right in on reddit lol.

Eventually, Elton got sick of his career suffering because of snc fans coming after him - the barrage of shit from the fans had graduated into them sending him death threats and accusing him of increasingly ridiculous things, like forcing Colby to show self harm scars on a live stream (categorically untrue, and Colby himself has addressed this), and trying to kill Sam and making him cry at the Conjuring House? Idk, I never understood that one at all. Dumb tiktok bullshit that never should have been taken as seriously as it was, but it was getting completely out of hand.

Anyway, soon as it started to affect their bottom line, Elton and Corey reached out to snc and snc agreed to meet with them. They hashed it out, both publicly and privately, Elton and snc refollowed each other, and snc even got invited to Elton's wedding (which Corey, ironically, was not invited to because shortly after all this, Elton and Corey had their huge falling out). Elton was recently at the Farrar School and seems to generally be on good terms with snc now.

Corey, meanwhile, seems to be on absolutely no terms whatsoever with anyone, except for Elton. With Elton, he is on the worst terms possible. They are on threatening lawsuit terms with each other, actually. snc have made it a point to stay out of that drama but don't seem to have any kind of relationship with Corey at all anymore, and Elton, during his falling out with Corey, did allege that Corey was a huge part of the reason that Elton and snc fell out, as Corey shit talked and spread lies about them to Elton so...yeah.

Anyway, there you have it. That second traphouse wasn't exactly a high point in any of their lives.

not to cause drama or anything but I HATE SCYTH ASMR! (Tw fictional domestic abuse, and fictional abuse of power)

Hate is a strong word, and my feeling might be a little over the top but, I do wanna talk about some of his stuff. I was a big fan of his when his first V vid was made. I joined the discord and followed all his posts. And then he posted a video that happened to have domestic violence in it, MASSIVE TRIGGER WARNING FOR THAT PAST THIS!!!! this vid has the listener character “cheeky” (I will not be calling her that cus that’s is a cringe ass nickname btw) and V, the romantic interest training, then after some flirting (one sided on V’s part, I’ll get into this later) a cargo truck full of scientists drives by! V quickly gets into the trunk and kills everyone in there, the listener character tries to stop him from killing what she think is an innocent person, he kills the guy in front of her, and then throws her out of the car, chokes her, talks about how he’s going to kill her and pin her death on the people in the cargo truck, and then says “how about one more kiss before you go” before letting her go. He then afterwards explains that the reason he killed all of them, was because of some in story lore about werewolves. It’s explained that what they did basically caused a werewolf to go feral and become evil and kill people. So obviously! These scientists who were probably forced by the government to do this, deserved to die! That makes sense! Anyway the moral of this vid was that the listner character should always listen to V no questions asked! I hate this vid for a number of reasons. The biggest one is the number of comments sexualizing and romanticizing the fucking horrible and traumatic abuse this listener faced, even bigger then that was the fact scythe audio fed into it.

The worst comment (trigger warning, victim blaming)

As you can see, scythe not only condoned this behaviour, he feed into it. This comment makes me sick. I accidentally watch this video without reading the description and became very triggered at the video. (this is not scythe audios fault, I must make this clear) seeing people make jokes like “I asked to be choked but not like this” and talking about how the listener character deserved and even enjoyed the attack was and still is repulsive.

The relationship between V and the listener character was also extremely abusive, but it was always shown as loving, or something like that. The listener has to stay with V and basically do whatever he asks (including kissing and I assume sexual favours) or be tossed to the streets to be picked up by either the evil shadow government or the actual government. Both wanted her dead. So, she’s trapped staying with a man who threatens violence if she doesn’t follow his every whim, who sexually harasses her daily, who diminishes her trauma, and who treats her like trash, just so she doesn’t her tormented and eventually killed. My issue with this isn’t the fact he’s an abusive ass hat, my issue is that instead of giving him any actual character growth, V was given orphans. He was made into an adopted dad to a shit ton of orphans cus he has ZERO REDEEMING TRAITS OTHER THEN HOT. Scythe audio must have realized this guy was his money maker and realized he had to make this guy actually redeemable if he wanted to have him to keep Marlon him money. Anyway it was unconvincing cus right after introducing the fact there were cute kids in the equation, he dropped the domestic abuse.

Another thing, less about the videos and more about how he interacted with fans. His discord sever had rolls for age! They specifically had one labeled “16 and under”, now, I’m not against having minors in asmr fandom spaces, but having minors especially such young ones in a sever he made? It just felt like a weird choice, especially seeing as he had and still has, and I’m going to say it bluntly, porn up on YouTube. Now you can say “but the video said 18+!” We all know that has never ever stopped a minor from doing anything. With this said, a large amount of his fandom was under 18, I’ll give him this, I don’t think i ever saw Scythe interact with an under 18 fan, but he knew they where there, he knew they watched his content. And yet knowing this, he wrote stories that glorified domestic abuse as a way to teach your partner how to fall in line he wrote stories glorifying the horribly toxic relationship that was V and the listener character. This type of thing affects kids greatly, especially if they have no clue it is abusive. Even in the video with the domestic abuse the description says “this may be triggering to listeners in regards to domestic based violence” not “Trigger warning, this video contains Domestic abuse!” It says it more like “it’s kinda domestic abuse, but only if that triggers you”

In Redacted, the description will always tell you what to expect. “Gaslighting, manipulation, toxic relationship” he will make sure you know that a toxic relationship is toxic, he makes sure your aware that the abuse shown, isn’t love. The most scythe does is say “well V is a villain! He’s not a good guy!” And yet her tries to make him redeeming so people like him.

Now, I get that this was over 2 years ago, scythe audio could have totally moved past this weird glorifying abuse thing, who knows! I mostly wrote this as a vent cus my friend reminded me he existed. “Why does it have to be me, don’t you have a ton of woman in your DMS begging to be in a video with you lot?” She recalled seeing a woman on Instagram being hysterical, because Filly had brushed her hand in the club while he was trying to get through.

This was appalling, because she never understood the hype behind her cousin and his friends. They were normal human beings that lived a normal life except, they were rich and made entertainment videos for a living.

“Because the fans want you, Destiny. Sharky and them did a Q&A on Instagram,and they said they wanted you in a video.” Harry informed her, bored with how she was questioning him too much.

A smirk formed on Destiny’s plump lips and she cleared her throat crossing one leg over her other.

“Sharky? How is he by the way..”

Harry groaned loudly, shaking his head at his cousin's antics. He knew how much she fancied him, but Sharky found the whole thing amusing. So from time to time he would purposely flirt with her, just in spite to make Harry annoyed.

It’s not like he had a chance anyway, the two would never happen as she was his best friend's ex, plus Destiny wanted the real thing and Sharky was not ready to commit, at least not until he was ready.

TIME SKIP TO WEDNESDAY BECAUSE I'M LAZY

Wednesday had crept around the corner like nothing, ultimately Destiny planned to sleep in and watch Top boy. However, she received a reminder text from Chunkz, and NIKO. She knew better than to try and bail,because both of those men were persistent and would most likely rock up to her house and drag her out.

So she spent the majority of the day doing self care as the video was scheduled at 3:30. Such as doing her lashes, eyebrows, re painting her nails and even chucking in the time to go and do a workout.

She felt good so she had to embrace the moment.

“Hello.” Destiny picked up her phone while glancing at the caller, she was in the middle of getting her nails done so she had to multitask.

“BITCH ARE YOU ON CRACK, YOU'RE FILMING A VIDEO WITH MY HUSBAND. AND DIDN'T WANT TO TELL ME”. Meet Karin, she’s Destiny’s best friend and right hand woman.

The two met one night when they were at the club, and Destiny got bat shit smashed and she tried to steal Karin’s Birkin mistaking it as hers. Until Karin told her it was not and somehow the friendship formed from there.

They have been seeing each other since then. And haven’t turned on each other's back since. Destiny visibly flinched at her friend's tone, as she didn’t expect her to be as loud as a camel.

“What’s with the shouting? And I promise I was going to tell you, but I’ve been busy.”

“Too busy to call your friend right! Well what are you wearing, you better not be wearing some baggy shít or lord help me, I’m coming down from Australia to smack your ass.” Karin threatened, only for Destiny to laugh at the seriousness in her tone.

Destiny had a ugly habit of wearing clothes that were baggy, this was only because her family had taught her from a young age to not wear tight revealing clothes.

Ever since, she hasn’t tried to try and break this habit. It’s only now, at the ripe age of 27 she’s wearing clothes that show a tad bit more skin. Thanks to Karin who is carefree and is all about body goals.

“No I’m not wearing something baggy, I’ll show you when I get home. But don’t worry I’ll make sure to tell Chunkz that you’re sending your love from Australia.”

“Period! As you should, that man wants me; he's just too scared to make the first move, which is fine.”

As delusional as Karin sounds, everything she was chatting was indeed correct. Her and Chunkz have a little thing, and it’s been going on for awhile and he is yet to ask her out.

He’s always so quick to come to Destiny for not being open and honest about her feelings, when he can’t even take his own advice and do the same.

TIME SKIP

By the time Destiny was done with everything, it was already 2:30 and she knew that she took forever to do everything. So she put on her crocs on sport mode, and sped home to get ready as the studio they were filming at was 30 minutes away from her house.

But with her crazy driving she would make it 20 minutes. Once she had gotten home she quickly did her make up, making sure it wasn’t too dramatic then put on her outfit and she was out.

Her estimation was indeed correct because by the time she got there it was already 3:00. Out of breath, she slammed her car door and bolted into the studio to find most of the women were already there and the boys were talking amongst themselves.

Before she could approach them, a man had gently tapped her causing her to spin around.

“Hey are you Destiny? If so,we would like you to come with us so we can show you your room and where you can put your stuff.”

“Oh okay.”

Trailing behind him, she was quickly pulled into a room where they adjusted her hair, while attaching a mic to the back of her dress, in order for the fans to hear when it’s her time to talk.

Cluelessly, Destiny followed the man and she watched as he motioned for the women to all come together so he would explain what’s going on.

There were a total of 8 eight women and they were all Caucasian, Destiny being the only black woman. She silently cussed to herself, as she was going to give her cousin a handful later about being more diverse.

“Alright as you all are gathered here today I’m pretty sure you are all aware of what’s going on today. Kenny is going to be our lucky man,who’s going to have to distinguish which one of you is the gold digger.” He spoke to no one in particular.

“You will all stand behind this white wall in number order based on the number that we have given. Kenny will then go around asking each individual to introduce themselves. And we’ll go from then on, the last 3 contestants will then go on a 5 minute date with him and he’ll decide the winner from there.

“Now me personally I don’t care if you’re here for money or for love. That’s on you. All I’m asking is that we just tone it down with the swearing and let’s all be respectful is that simple? Any questions?” The women all murmured to each other and he nodded.” Great, now let’s line up please.”

The man had gone around ordering all the girls with a number and Destiny had landed on number 5. They all got into their positions and the video had started.

All she could hear was Nikos booming voice echoing throughout the room, as he was giving the intro. This gave her some sort of comfort, that he indeed was here like he promised.

Now they had gotten all the girls to introduce themselves and it was Destiny’s.

“Contestant 5 it’s your turn.”

“Hello my name is Destiny. I am 26 years old and I’m from Sierra Leone.”

“Oh an African queen, I like that.” She overheard Filly say, and she almost laughed, however she covered her mouth to prevent it from coming out.

“That’s cool love, and what’s your occupation?”

Swallowing, Destiny was hesitant to answer as she didn’t want them to suspect it was her, but she didn’t have a choice but to answer.

No one else besides Harry and Niko, and chunkz were aware that she was invited to the video. As they wanted it to be a surprise to the fans and the other boys.

“I’m a physical trainer in the NBA.” She revealed and heard multiple gasps, some of the girls even rolled their eyes or scoffed in envy. But she didn’t give a damn, she worked hard to get in the position so she was going to earn it.

“DAMNNNN”

“Nah she’s waffling.”

“Ain’t no way she works in the NBA.”

The boys suddenly became a bit more quiet then Kenny spoke.

“Oh okay I see you girl, what team?”

“The Atlanta Hawks.”

“Lads, I think I just fell in love…” Kenny exaggerated clutching his chest, causing everyone including the camera crew to laugh.” I LOVE THE HAWKS, You think you can get me Trae Young’s number?’” He asked, almost sounding genuine, and almost sounding like he wasforced into it.

The boys oooo like teenage boys and Destiny rolls her eyes with a smile. Who knew the boys were still childish after all these years.

“Alright next contestant!”

TIME SKIP-

As the time went on ultimately, Kenny had kicked out the contestants he didn’t like. Remaining with Destiny; and contestant number three and number 6. Now Destiny was not really stressed because Number three was named Bree.

She was a brunette and was a model of course, but she lacked the confidence and she was just talking about herself the entire time, not even asking Kenny the right questions.

Then Number six was named Sasha. She was a blonde and actually seemed genuine. Her only problem was that she was only here for money, unfortunately Kenny didn’t know that but he was getting the sense.

Sasha had told Destiny that she was purely only here to get money to pay off her BMW. Like girl, get a damn job the last thing that should be on your mind is trying to be famous and being on YouTube.

“So what are you into?” Kenny had asked Bree who was grinning so hard that her mouth could snap.

Now he was not entirely convinced that she was genuine so he analysed her response carefully.

“I’m into dancing.”

“Oh yeah, what kind of dance are you into dancehall?” Kenny jokes, showing his dimples however his grin soon dropped,once she stood up from her chair and began doing some tap dancing.

Instantly, Sasha m lol and Destiny made eye contact and bursted out laughing. The two began running to each other, grasping each other's arms, as they cried to themselves.

Filly and them were also heard laughing from the other room because what the hell was even that. Gathering themselves together, Kenny bit his lip to contain his laughter.

“Wow, that really was something.”

“Awwww thank you Kenny, I wish I could do better but these bad boys were in the way.” She patted her heels, thinking she really did something.

Fast forward to Sasha, obviously Bree was let free because Kenny was not feeling that whole dance plus she was giving very much desperation.

Next was Sasha, she was nervous for some reason and kept cracking her knuckles every few seconds. It was only until Destiny approached her that she calmed down slightly.

“Hey, are you alright?”

“No,just nerves. I guess Kenny seems so sweet, just don’t want to ruin it.” She rambled, playing with her fingers and Destiny hummed.

Kenny was her ex, so she knew what he liked and didn’t like. So if Sasha was to go out there flaunting her humongous breasts,he would immediately not show interest.

Sure he loved a more curvy woman, he didn’t discriminate at all. He just didn’t want her to have to show off her body, in order to gain his attention.

He mainly went for personality, yet he wanted something to look at of course. Maybe even something to grab onto if you get my drift.

“So Sasha, I’ve been told that you like boxing, why’s that?”

Kenny reached over grasping her hands in his large ones causing Destiny to scoff, earning a side eye from the producers. Why was she so bitter, it’s not like she still liked Kenny. Her and Kenny were done, and he’s moved on.

So why is she suddenly so bothered by seeing the way he was gazing into Sasha’s eyes. I mean she was the perfect fit, she was more on the slim thick side. Educated, with a wealthy family and was a boxer. All she needed was a lover.

What was there to not love about her!

Destiny on the other hand, she was also educated and wanted to settle down just like Kenny. It was just finding the right man that was troubling her. The men her age weren’t taking her seriously, she only had one serious relationship after Kenny.

Was with a guy named Stefan, he was African American and came to London for some cruise. While on the cruise, Destiny happened to be there and she had a one night stand with him.

The two went on to date for a while until she found out that Stefan was just using her to get closer to her brother Dean, who was a famous football player he just wanted to be like Dean. So she broke up with him and never saw him again.

“Okay contestant 5 can you please come out and reveal yourself.” Sharky’s loud voice boomed from the other room, and Destiny sighed bracing herself.

With one last deep breath, she adjusted her skirt and made her out from where she was and walked over to the table where Kenny was.

As soon as she came into the camera, the boys began screaming loudly and clapping. Kenny’s face had dropped and he visibly looked as if he had seen a ghost.

“OH MY GOSH BRUVV.”

“IS THIS DESTINY KURMO IN THE FLESH?!”

“SOMEBODY PINCH ME LADS.”

Once all the commotion had died down, Kenny had cleared his throat and began laughing foolishly.

“You can’t be serious… If this is a joke, Niko come out here right now.” Kenny became angry, because he hoped the boys were not playing with his feelings.

They all knew that he still loved and cared for Destiny tremendously, words can’t even describe how much he cried the day they split, she had an immense impact on him and she didn’t even know.

Ask anyone, even the loyal fans they would tell you that boy was sprung over Destiny.

“I promise bro, if this was a skit I would’ve told you but this wasn’t me.” Niko defended himself, also bewildered by the sight of Destiny. More at the fact that she actually showed.

“He’s not lying. Harry was the one that was invited for the video. So take it or leave it, either you can sit down or you can send me home. I don’t mind.” Destiny chimed, taking a seat across from Kenny.

It looked almost like he was having an internal battle with himself. Almost instantly, he gave in sitting across from her and he just stared.

“Yo, cut the cameras.”

“Kenny—“

“I said cut the cameras bro, I don’t want this recorded!” He snapped, and the guy sighed but obeyed, turning the camera off temporarily.

“So what’s your aim? Why are you here Destiny?”

“Kenny-“

“If you want the money you can take it and leave. Because I’m not about to do this again.”

“Do what.” She frowns, not getting why he was so upset at seeing her appear in the video. After all he always wanted her to appear in a video and she was here.

“Be with you again! You left me remember, I told you I wasn’t ready and you just ran off like what we had was nothing.” Kenny argued, Destiny scoffed not liking his tone one bit.

It was almost as if he was blaming her for the fall out that occurred between them, and that was the last thing that Destiny liked. Was when someone accuses her of being the problem, when she wasn’t it.

“Well excuse me for being smart, why waste my time on someone that wants to be a man child forever. I told you from the start Kenny, I wanted the real thing, and you couldn’t give me that. So what did you expect me to stay?! No because I’m not one of those women that will tolerate that Kenny!” She shouted back and it suddenly became silent. It felt almost as if no one else was in the room, just these two.

Suddenly Kenny got the urge to ask her a question that he knew could go either way.

“Do you still love me Destiny?”

Suddenly Destiny’s face had become tense and her face had fallen a bit at his words, why was he switching the attention to her all of a sudden. She was meant to let all her anger out on him, not vice versa.

“Are you serious Kenny, this isn’t about me it’s about the fact that you’re trying to blame me for leaving, when you couldn’t even meet me halfway—“

“Just shut up for a second!”

Everyone had become even more quiet and all Destiny could do was sigh and gaze helplessly into the distance, where Chunks and the rest had all come out from behind the room putting their thumbs up to encourage her.

They knew that she was probably never going to want to make a video with them again, if it was going to be this chaotic but this drama was going to gain views.

“See how you avoided my question? I asked if you still loved me. Not what I did 4 years ago, so I’m gonna ask you again, do you still have feelings for me Destiny.”

“Okay fine, yes I do! I still love you for some reason, after the messy break up I can’t seem to let go of all those years we spent together. And then for us to just break up like it was nothing. You don’t know the damage that you did Kenny.” Destiny could feel her eyes burning with tears, but she wiped them before they could spill.

It physically made Kenny sick to see the love of his life in tears because of him, lord knows the unseen tears that she shed while in private. But he was here now and he was ready to make things right.

Leaning forward, Kenny interlocked his hands with hers and she didn’t fight it. Instead she glanced down at his fingers not wanting to make eye contact. Then he used his other hand to lift up her jaw so that her eyes were glued to his.

And she folded.

“I know, baby. And I’m sorry alright, if I could take back my actions I would do it a thousand times.I was young and dumb, and I wasn’t ready. But I’m 26 now and I’m ready to give you my all.

Looking back. I realised how lucky I was to have you, a woman that was willing to settle down and be there for me. And I was dumb even enough to lose you. So I’m here now and I want you back Destiny.

We’re too grown to be going back and forth about our feelings. I want you and I’ll be damned, if I let you leave this place without being my girl.” Kenny finished and, the boys all cheered loudly at his speech.

Heck even the producers were joining in on the applause because Kenny was a good man. The girls Bree and Sasha, were even tearing up in the corner with smiles. They could tell from the start that Kenny was not as interested in them as he was with Destiny.

As soon as Destiny appeared his whole demeanour, had shifted so quickly that anyone could tell that they had history.

“So what do you say Destiny ?” Niko wraps an arm around him.” Are you ready to take him back?”

“Because if you don’t, I’ll gladly take him. He’s quite leng. Have you seen his abs?!”Aj added, and this made all of them laugh at how unserious he was.

“You lot actually crack me up, but to answer your question yes I take you back Kenny. I’m ready to be your woman.” She gleefully says,and the boys all awe as Kenny pulls her by her waist pulling her into a deep and long sweet kiss, kissing her as if his life depended on it.

I hardly ever go on twt (it's too open it's too exposed it's too algorithmcally driven nowadays, it's not my thing) but ofc as many others have pointed out, that kinda dogpiling and harassment over anything that's not meeting a purity standard is not exclusive to twt, it happens a ton on tumblr too. I don't say this in defence of twt (bc I don't have a horse in that race anyway) but more to explain why I say anything about this stuff happening on another platform: I don't want to get complacent. I don't want to act like it's something we are unaffected by here, I have seen people driven off, harassed, doxxed, gossip about them spread through public and private channels, all over some random fics or posts that didn't pass a purity standard (or often because of some personal conflict which people dogpiled on and used vague accusations to weaponise against someone they had personal beef with, that's also common enough)

On twt of course rage bait and seeking engagement means something more than it does here because of algorithm reasons, but even so we should know not to tolerate dogpiling, not to tolerate doxxing, not to tolerate harassment campaigns because that's not something tumblr is free of. DnP have never minded fic of themselves we know that already. Hey have read and joked around with smutty fic about them, they have outright seriously said that they don't mind the fic. They are also as of late using quite sexually charged language in their videos let's be real. As someone else pointed out, anyone who is still watching dnp is being exposed to nsfw language like that already. Anyone who is uncomfortable with talk and content that's nsfw in any particular way has the responsibility themselves to not engage.

Every space every person every blog and account is not going to be minor friendly sfw, that's just how it is, and we shouldn't expect people to take responsibility for other people who might see their stuff. If minors are entering spaces that host adult content be it any social media site or youtube or ao3 or whatever, it's up to minors (or their guardians) to keep away from content that could be bothersome by blocking tags and people or filtering content. But that doesn't make it the responsibility of every adult just living their adult lives to never say anything nsfw bc some minor might see it bc that's just ceding ground to the "keep every part of the internet child safe and family friendly" kind of shit social media sites have been pulling which both 1) makes the waters murky and makes spaces much more dangerous for minors and 2) in practice is only used to get rid of queer shit as we have seen on tumblr

When discourse starts up anywhere it's gonna have people think on it at least and form opinions and share ideas, and I only bring this up because I hope we can keep away from repeating harmful ideas, and especially from causing hurt and harm to others in the community just because we didn't ike something they wrote or said.

Tldr: Dogpiling and harassment does happen on Tumblr also and should never be seen as acceptable. DnP have never minded fic. "Think of the children" rhetoric is harmful. And a side note: 'porn addiction' is not real it's pseudoscience

jumping at everyones feet hi hello hey!!!!! im back (its been a day and a half) i need to start listening to my brain when it tries to tell me to relax and take a break while also telling me im actually the laziest and worst person in the world if i do take a break but lmao im feeling better i touched grass i spent the day with hubby before he went back to work today im in a better brain space!!!

ik its something that i will always accidentally fall back into if i let myself and its inevitable esp with the way socmed is atm and with the horrific rise of ai and fandom being so weirdly competitve if u look in the broad areas outside of a carefully curated bubble it is SO incredible disheartening LMAO but i fell back into the idea of like, # of likes = good or bad and my constant issue of my writing being good = my self worth is good if that makes sense lmao like tying my self worth to the fics i write and how well they do online

like yeah it still is an issue and disheartening not getting feedback and just seeing tons of likes from ageless blank blogs that are slop and probably bots and probably kids and its like a hydra you block 1 and 5 more appear and its never ending and its so so tiring when you see all that and dont get any reblogs or even nice comments/tags or any kind of worthy feedback

but while i do normally get anxious writing fluff anyway, i was already tipping into the pool of # of likes = self worth and i was literally dreading writing fics and having to convince myself and talk myself out of believing that my fics are dog shit, no ones gonna like them because i wasnt getting the feedback otherwise which is where ive been before and it was hell lmao

im coming back now with more the attitude that i do actually believe that if EYE like it who cares and to trust myself, that my brain is always going to be so so very evil to me at all times because im severely mentally ill and if i listened to everything my brain told me i would have 💀 myself by now so ukno lmao im trying to be better at cherishing and appreciating the comments and tags i DO get and especially friends feedback and their comments rather than being upset over not having an abundance ive never had and never will get bcos of the fandom economy and shit and reminding myself that those who are interested in the fic will like it, even if its not for the masses, one person is most likely going to read it and its going to be their favourite fic ever and thats worth more than thousands of likes on tumblr dot com

Hey there. I was wondering if you can do the Lin Kuei brothers meets s/o who is a Kitsune, a Japanese yokai monster. They have the ability to shapeshift into their fox form and human form and they can be mischievous as well.

I keep using the same gifs over and over again, so imma start using pics. Also I don't know much about Kitsunes. Imma be honest, when I hear "kitsune", I think of Teen Wolf. I watched a few videos on them tho, so I hope you enjoy.

So do I think he'd be suspicious at first because of the nature of kitsunes? Yeah. Do I think he'd never want you around? No.

It would take time, but I think as long as you use your powers for Earthrealm's protection, he'd begin to trust you

Bonus points if you get someone like Liu Kang to vouch for you

With that being said, I think he'd be fascinated by you. You're a mythological creatures with powers that get stronger as you age

I see him doing a ton of research and reading all types of stories about your kind. This will unfortunately mean that he'll read about all the hell kitsunes cause, so he might keep you at arms length

Like Kuai Liang tho, it's possible to build on this relationship and become friends (or maybe more) with him. It comes down to constantly proving that you're trustworthy and reliable

Reason I Watched: I stumbled upon videos of Florence Pugh singing and I had no idea she could sing, so I looked up to see if there were any roles she played that involved her singing. Therefore, I found this movie.

Review/Thoughts:

Wow. This movie is…something else. I’m seriously behind on posting a review about this, and I only just recently decided to post reviews/thoughts about movies and shows that AREN’T Marvel, and I haven’t actually gotten to doing any of the reviews. But like I said earlier, I watched this because I heard that Florence Pugh sang a bit in this role, and I had just that night discovered that she sang and was entranced by her voice, so I wanted all that I could get.

Little did I know what this movie was going to be.

First off, when I watch a movie, the vast majority of the time I can separate myself from the emotion of the story, both so I’m not affected (if it’s a dark story), and/or to look at it from a filmmaking perspective. I am an aspiring writer/director and am going to school for film so I love to analyze movies and tv and look at things from that perspective with whatever limited knowledge I possess at the time.

Anyways, there have only been TWO movies EVER that have affected me so much to where I have to stop and think about whether or not I am in an okay place to watch it. The Logan movie from the X-Men universe is one of them, and now this movie.

Because DAMN, is it a dark, sad movie. It is NOT enjoyable, at least not in the sense of ‘sitting down with a blanket and a snack on a rainy Saturday’ type of enjoyable. No, this movie is painful and honest and raw and at times, horrifying and devastating and holy shit is it hard to watch. It’s just so…RAW.

I keep using the word raw, but it FITS. This movie does not hold back when showing the horrible struggles and life-shattering things that can be and are addiction and grief.

Florence’s performance was absolutely stunning. I have in the past gone through really strong hyperfixations to particular actors where I have consumed a ton of their filmography in a short amount of time, or watched a lot of behind the scenes content, interviews, social medias reels and stuff, all of that. And in the past, it’s at times been hard to separate the actor from the character, not because of the actor’s performance, but because of how familiar I am with them as an actor. That happens at times with all my actor hyperfixations (James McAvoy, Sebastian Stan, Pedro Pascal). But sometimes, there is a performance from an actor that completely shatters that film over my eyes, and it’s like I’m seeing the actor for the first time, when a particular performance is so strong and potent and so POWERFUL that all of a sudden they are not the actor, they are the character. In this movie, I did not see Florence. I saw Allison.

My words are starting to fail me for this review, so to sum up all of my thoughts on A Good Person:

This movie is not enjoyable, it is necessary.

gahhhh before watching mi8 it would be either the benji “i am a field agent! i know the risks! more than that i am your friend” crashout in rogue nation, or the ending to mi3 when ethan introduces julia to the team and they’re all smiley and cracking jokes and so happy for ethan

post mi8 however, the surgery scene takes the cake for me. benji instructing grace on how to hack into the servers and capture the entity while guiding paris through a whole ass operation. on HIMSELF. WHILE THERE’S STILL THE DAMN BULLET STUCK IN HIM. i was shitting absolute bricks the first time i watched it but now it feels like such a full circle moment for benji. starting from mi3/mi4 when he was highkey opposed to breaking the rules + so giddy to be on a mission with ethan and having a character with so much whimsy and comedic relief to becoming the agent he’s always wanted to become, leading his own team and doing so well at what he’s good at. our benji <3

erica has a fuck ton of trauma (related to loving someone in the past who ended up using her and going rogue) which she does not want to deal with despite luther and brandt holding multiple interventions. she’s adept. a bit of a hopeless romantic but the moment someone messes with her or someone she cares about, she will not hesitate to put a bullet between their eyes. her love language is physical touch and acts of service. she also deeply believes anyone she loves ends up hurt. like girl

and then there’s alexis. (loads of self projection here but anyway) ran away from a homophobic home early. she has a kid sister who looks up to her like anything. alex got into mit by her 16th birthday and finished her phd by 20. girlboss, super smart. erica’s competency kink screams whenever she sees alexis work her magic on the most complicated servers on the planet. she has hella trust issues but makes up for them by being insanely good at her craft. practically besties with luther. they geek about how sexy of a programming language C is, much to brandt’s endless suffering. still, it’s brandt who quietly sits with her, fills in the blanks about erica’s past—because she’s too scared to say it out loud.

(she outright tells ethan that he should stop being dumb and tell benji how he feels the moment he’s awake or she’ll hit him on the head with an iron rod)

benji and paris are sooooo gay dad lesbian daughter,,,, paris sometimes shows up unannounced to benji’s place. he makes her a cup of tea and they play video games together. sometimes ethan joins in but gets absolutely violated by those two. he proceeds to smoke them at monopoly instead OH and paris is a french death metal enjoyer. benji listens to the smiths. naturally shenanigans ensue
