Don't know what some of these terms mean (e.g. apory)? I compiled them (and their sources) on my site [ A List Of Gender Terms ].

The fluid, fluix, and flux terms are based off genderfluid man/boy, genderfluix man/boy, genderflux man/boy, and the matching woman/girl versions. For my nonbinary terms/flags though, I'm defining them more broadly, so any combination of aporagender + fluid/fluix/flux works.

Butch, futch, and femme is the same. Anyone who's butch/futch/femme and aporagender, whatever that combination means to them, can use these flags :)

Also, I didn't list every possible name for the fluid, fluix, flux, butch, futch, and femme terms. You can use alt terms/names, as long as they have the same meaning.

I really like the original aporagender flag, but I found the colours just didn't work in this context. So instead I referenced my colours from aporine. I think green, yellow, orange, and that particular shade of red do fit aporagender pretty well.

For aporale and aporan, I just went with a format that felt right / looked nice. Having the stripes be horizontal looked too much like orientation flags to me, so I used vertical stripes (pride flags don't often use vertical stripes, so I think this helps make it more unique). And the second one, I felt darker and maybe just a bit of desaturated colours would fit. I still wanted them to be colourful though, since I think the opposite gives the impression of depression, which is not just what adulthood is.

Apory follows this girl flag (which has also been used for other diminutive flags, like boy and xip). I don't know how to make symbols for it though, so I left them blank. Having symbols would help them look more unique, so if anyone wants to make symbol versions, they're welcome to.

The fluid, fluix, and flux flags follow my formats, which are based on genderfluid man/boy, genderflux man/boy, and the matching woman/girl flags.

Finally, the butch, futch, and femme flags follows these femme/futch/butch man flags, that's where the bottom 3 stripes come from.

Is there a boy/girl/younger person term for aporagender?

and do you think apnox/apnon/apmel would work as aporagender specific sex labels (based off of these https://variant-archive.tumblr.com/post/178963424857/took-a-shot-at-creating-some-nonbinary-options-for) I would use apo, the root for aporagender, but it was already used by a different nonbinary sex label in that same post.

may I suggest apory/aporie? based on -y/-ie from enby/enbie.

while for the identities from that post, they are "(...) used as a separate option for [redacted] instead of male and/or female". so aporale already exists. but apnox sounds reasonable too, though it's similar to the apogender equivalent as you pointed.

"mama i don't like to see you cry"

if you knew esa from the beginning and you followed his development and growth, you would know that....speech was one of the delays he faced. the daycare first mentioned it to us around the time he turned 2 and we immediately looked into it and i put a cold turkey stop on screen time for him. and he got a LOT better really fast alhumdulillah, so in my head the damage was reversed more or less. SHUKAR ALHUMDULILLAH.

he's 4.5 years old now. despite that his speech is now good and he's developing and learning at his level (again, there is not enough gratitude in the world for me to express to Allah swt that despite my absentee parenting, He made esa good and well), there are still subtle remnants of his delays. obviously nothing alarming or concerning, he's just gotten a hold of language and variety in his vocabulary a bit later than the other kids his age.

anyway, all of this to say that occasionally he does have a hard time expressing himself and i feel this has almost in some ways shaped his personality as a reserved kid himself. but sometimes he expresses himself so clearly that the thoughts he strings together take away my breath a little.

i'm working really really hard to not fight with yasir or basically even speak to him around esa. for one of 2 reasons - talking to him almost always leads to his answering in a snarky manner or me responding with resentment (ie also in a snarky manner).

i have no space where i am comfortable sharing things with yasir anymore without the deep resentment in the back of my mind.

so i just give up talking to him. say what you will about being raised in an environment where the caregivers don't care for each other, but at the very least i've convinced myself that it has to be better than an environment where the caregivers are constantly fighting and nasty with each other.

so the other day i broke my own thing and bickered with yasir. and of course it lead to him bickering back. and of course that lead to me crying.

all in front of esa.

and esa, as he does, immediately came to my side. he is my number 1 protector from his baba. it's funny because i consider myself his number 1 protector from his baba as well lol.

laanat ho un qareebi rishton aur rishtedaaron se jin se humein apnon ko mahfooz rakhna parhta hai. laanat ho mujh pe. laanat ho yasir pe. laanat ho un ullu ke patthon pe jo aulaad ko dunya le aatay hain lekin us aulaad ki qadar karna nahin samajhte. laanat ho.

anyway. back to the bickering. esa tried to wipe away my tears and told me, point blank and as clearly as i've ever heard him speak: "mama i don't like to see you sad".

and, then, if i am recalling correctly, he added something along the lines of "it makes me sad".

and again my breath got caught in my throat and i wished that the world would open up and swallow me.

who's taking care of who? my kid doesn't deserve this. no kid deserves this. but here it is, happening this way.

i wish i didn't feel so stuck in my life. i wish i could give esa two fully present parents. i wish i never have to see the day again where he starts to take on the burden of caring for me the way only i am supposed to care for him.

i am his parent. i hope to god he never sees himself becoming mine.
