#apollo and cassandra parallels my BELOVEDS

also despite everything I headcanon apollo as having to be very careful with his words, especially definitive phrases, like, every word he says Is truth (even if that truth is that he's lying rn lmao) and so every future simple statement counts as a prophecy

like, imagining bronze age apollo desperately pleading with zeus to prevent the fall of troy, that is urgent, and zeus taking it as personal attachment and arrogance and him being dramatic (making him want to go for it even more)

and apollo just standing there trying to find more ways to not say the standing of troy is the only thing between the civilization that sustains their existence and complete societal apocalypse to avoid locking them into that definitive future

i was listening to god games (epic). and it reminded me of the piltover council. and THEN it made me think of an au where viktor has an incident with the hexcore. where, instead of sky interfering and dying (rip my beloved princess), viktor fuses with the hexcore and sort of destroys part of the lab. and, by destroy, i mean the lab is now partially infected with alien hexcore splatter.

so, now a traumatized and partially mutated viktor is being contained and is being threatened with stillwater confinement (very much paralleling with jayce’s trial in season one, and highlighting how much easier jayce was let off). and jayce is struggling with understanding why viktor would do such a reckless thing (cue angst in accepting that a incidental death was better than dying because his own body was failing him), and also fighting for his life trying to defend viktor before the council.

dialogue under the break:

salo (apollo): even i can agree that zaun has a few rare gems worth a copper coin, but this overstep is going to ruin it for everyone else. what measures will we have to take now, to prevent others from smuggling through the boarders?

sky: there are worse things that have been done. now, people will tread with caution. perhaps viktor's incident will decrease the population still using shimmer.

bolbok (hephaestus): he went against jayce's own wishes by traveling into zaun to fraternize with the enemy why should we trust a man who couldn't even honor the trust of his closest comrade?

jayce: viktor is one of piltover's and zaun's strongest minds, if he had found a way to make his invention work, should he give up like you were going to make me? then where would this city be? forgiveness has already been given, but even i have no right to permit viktor from visiting his homeland.

shoola (aphrodite): why would he cause himself so much pain just to ruin his own body? viktor shows little remorse for the pain he has caused to YOU, councilor talis and ms. young. he has selfishly destroyed the reliability of hextech's future.

sky: i don’t agree—

hoskel (ares): —he's a coward. how much money has been wasted on a corrupt project to save ONE life. he isn't working for piltover any longer, he's in it for the power. and he's doing it with the help of zaun's dirtiest hands.

jayce: viktor has always stuck by my side. from the beginning, even when no one else thought of me any more than a pardoned criminal. if you wish to see product of your money, then look out the window to the world viktor has already helped in creating. it is not treasonous that a dying man was desperate to save himself. and your gold is not equivalent to wealth when a brilliant mind needs TIME.

mel (hera): each of you has made mistakes. but, why fight for viktor's freedom when he has also wronged you?

sky: he's our friend.

mel (hera): is that all it takes?

jayce: hextech will be shut down if he's no longer a part of it.

mel (hera): is that a threat?

sky: viktor is just as much a name as jayce talis. he contributed just as much as the face of the brand.

jayce: he’s priceless.

mel (hera): very well.

cassandra (zeus): viktor has lost all trust. end of discussion. he does not deserve to walk the streets of piltover as if he has not misstepped egregiously. he is not worth the risk.

sky: but a younger jayce talis was? you protect your own, but won't fight for someone who has saved several lives. including your very own godson's.

cassandra (zeus): this is not personal. it is righteous judgement. and viktor has failed to act in piltover's best interest.

jayce: your judgement is showing to be unbalanced, councilor. PLEASE, let him go.

So I’m still hooked on the pollen oneshot but I’m even more interested in Cassie. Are her and Darren still friends and is she somehow involved in Kayla’s life as well? Like a sort of aunt? And will she ever appear again? Like imagine Darren telling her about how Apollo proposed and he turned him down and now boom, 20 years later we’re going to a pollen wedding and she’s the maid of honor lol.

sorry for being SO LATE TO THESE ASKSJDSF this week has been crazy hectic (aka one of those weeks where literally every teacher decides to give you two tests) but anyway!!!

CASSIE <33 my beloved <33 as you may know i kinda am really scared of adding oc's to fics but i felt like it was necessary for this one, just because darren has like... zero lore. and he needs a friend!!! i wanted cassie to kind of parallel will (in a platonic way) to nico, as in, her family is the one that has sort of taken in darren as one of their own over the years :)

her and darren are absolutely still friends!! neither of them qualified for the 2004 olympics, but darren was on the backup team and still went to athens whereas cassie stayed back in toronto. she is most DEFINITELY there for kayla as an aunt, but mainly just in those early years - a few laters, her parents will unfortunately pass away (sorry, plot reasons bc otherwise they would've 100% taken kayla in as one of their own), and i think she's very much a free spirit, one of her favorite parts of being a competitive archer is traveling across the world. so after that (like, when kayla is around four or so), she packs her bags and starts to travel :) though i dont have many things completely set in stone for her, i think that she had gone to college for sports journalism, but after seeing the way that the press just tore apart her best friend, she switched to starting her own travel blog and decided to do that from then on (plus, let's just say that her parents were pretty well off. she had the money to do it) - now, she's the aunt that kayla sees on holidays and that spoils her with a bunch of different gifts and souvenirs <3

she will definitely be appearing in the next fic bc well,, quarantine doesn't lend much freedom to travel. and her and darren are most definitely still in contact!!! the kind of whirlwind emotions they went through together from the olympics to the whole apollo situation creates a bond that lasts. she is most DEFINITELY still not apollo's #1 fan (actually his #1 hater, and was most definitely quesitoning darren's sanity when he said that apollo would take in kayla for a few years, full on saying "i will literally fly back to toronto and settle down to watch over kayla if you want to start coaching rather than have you send kayla to that guy." darren doesn't listen, ofc)

no spoilers, but i can say that apollo and cassie will have another meeting. and cassie will NOT be having nice things to say to him. yk i love my greek mythology references, apollo and cassandra are never rlly gonna be on good terms are they? (but she will put aside her personal resentment when seeing darren truly happy - that's all she really wants for him)

I know the obvious answer would make them all belong to a certain “category”, so we’ll go with that first:

DEMIGODS

Disclaimer: I have read all of the PJO books by Riordan back when it wasn’t cool, so if you’ve only watched the new Disney show? Buckle up, kinda spoilers ahead, kiddos. This also means that in this house we very much distinguish between the Greek and Roman gods as necessary in the og books: Ares and Mars? Two completely different dudes. Zeus/Jove? Nah, you’re fine, pretty much the same.

Note: on the Greek side, “demigods” are normally only the direct children of deities, not grandchildren and so on (because they rarely live long enough to procreate 😅), that’s why I tend to say son/daughter for them, while, on the Roman side, you can be generations and generations from your divine ancestor and still be called a “demigod”.

I will try to refrain from having parentheses on other pantheons outside of the Greek/Roman one (I made an exception for Flynn because this is not my childhood hyperfixation at all 🫣 and, of course, for Jenkins, my beloved).

As demigods, I imagine they could be:

Eve, descendant/daughter of Mars (if you don’t know about Reina and the Roman camp? That’s why you can only imagine her as belonging to the Athena fam). She has a wicked strategic mind, she’s hella powerful and very caring of her comrades (am I describing Reina or Eve? You’ll never know 😂)

Flynn. I so want to make him the son of Thoth (Egyptian god of knowledge, wisdom and scribe of gods), but you guys have to either forget for a second how the Egyptian gods work in the “Kayne Chronicles” (a parallel series of books to the PJO universe by Riordan - same world, but deals with Egyptian gods, Percy and the Kayne siblings briefly meet I only read the first book because it wasn’t quite as entertaining) or I have other options. He could be the son of Prometheus (god/Titan of forethought, fire - remember how he stole it for mankind? This guy freaking loves mankind - and crafty counsel) and, to quote Wikipedia, “Prometheus is known for his intelligence and for being a champion of mankind, and is also generally seen as the author of the human arts and sciences”, which, I’d say, fits Flynn to a T (also because of a certain crazy streak “father and son” share, iykwim). Or we can disregard the canon “The Librarians” movies (in which Flynn has a very present mother) and make him the son of Mnemosyne, Titan of Memory (mother of the Muses, which could work for Flynn’s eidetic memory and voracity for knowledge and all arts as his half siblings would be, again, the literal Muses)

Cassandra could be the daughter of Athena if we disregard the canon of her having two awful parents (she cannot be a descendant of Minerva because, on the Roman side, in the PJO universe, this goddess is very much chaste, “even more” than her Greek counterpart, and will not have children of any kind). On the same note, always disregarding canon, she could be the daughter of Apollo (he’s got knowledge too, has the prophecy thing going on, light and music, arts, pastoral deity - we cannot forget Cassandra’s love of goats 😆🫶🏻 - and archery - remember how in “And the Trial of the One” Cassandra’s choice of weapon is a crossbow?) or she could be the descendant of Phoebus (the Roman version of Apollo) to keep the canon intact (but I prefer the Greek option). She could be daughter of Hecate, goddess of magic, as it would explain Cassandra’s inability to keep away from it. Hecate is also associated with the underworld as she keeps Hades’ keys (Cassandra’s brain grape as her link with the underworld which will not kill her, how she was entrusted with the keys of Santa’s sleigh…), she’s also known as beautiful, eternal, bright, furious and avenging (remember “And the Apple of Discord”!Cassandra? Yeah, “the dreaded” indeed) I will not go on a rant about the Egyptian goddess Seshat or some Celtic deities because I promised I wouldn’t

Ezekiel would be perfect as the son of Hermes/Mercury, I think we can all agree on that (god of travellers, thieves, cunning, athletes and humor)

Jacob could be the son of Athena (leaving the canon intact - though, why Athena would fall for Jake’s father is a mystery 😂) or the son/descendant of Apollo/Phoebus (I can think of some others, but they get obscure, so I’ll stop here)

Jenkins/Galahad is already, by canon, a demigod (sure, a Celtic one, great-grandson of Llŷr, but still), so I’m loathe to mess with that (I’d have to mess with his father Lancelot too and, again, it doesn’t sit well with me). He’s from a different pantheon and that’s it

Not to pop up randomly in the year of our lord 2024, but I’ve watched Percy Jackson recently and now I’m curious. If the librarians characters were in this universe, what would they be? Demigods? Satyrs? Centaurs? Monsters? Humans? Let’s get this conversation going for anyone still left in this fandom or any followers that are still around;)
