OUKA: It can't be!! It's just like one of the stories I wrote!! A a mysterious Pokemon, suddenly appearing before their future partner in crime, claiming to be a human...!! Ouka poked at the Espurr's unconscious body. This Pokemon could be dead, but she was too excited about her fantasies to care about silly things such as death. OUKA: Hey!! Wake up, friend!! Are you a human?? You must be!! Ouka was so excited, she was just punching the poor thing awake by now.

????: Hnghgrh The downed Espurr groggily reenters the waking world, getting up slowly and clutching their head as if they suffered from a headache not long ago.

????: Where... Where Am I? ????: It Is So Bright OUKA: Good afternoon, silly!! Welcome to the World of Pokemon!! I'm assuming you're a human sent on a mission?? ????: Uh I Knew That, I Think, The World Of Pokemon Part ????: But What Is A Human? OUKA: Sheesh, amnesia hit you hard huh?? ????: What Is Amnesia?

Ouka pauses for a second. OUKA: Uh... It's when you lose memories, forget about large parts or your life, things like that... OUKA: But er, enough about that!! My name is Ouka. Ouka Yotsuba!! What's yours?? ????: My What? OUKA: ...Your name? ????: I Do Not Have One Ouka raises an eyebrow. They don't have one? She thought that's something they'd be able to remember! OUKA: Um... I guess that complicates things... Ouka's face lights up as she gets an idea. OUKA: Oh! I know!! How about we give you a new name, right now!! Let's see, are you a boy, a girl, or...?? ????: I Do Not Know

This was more complicated than Ouka thought it would be. OUKA: ...Okay, we can work with this... Ouka lifts a hand up to her chin, lost in thought for a moment as she scrambles for cool names this Espurr could have. What could this gift from the stars be named? OUKA: Oh, I got it!! How about...

I was rereading One Piece for Reasons (tm), and in the first chapter, when the narrator introduces the Red Hair Pirates by saying "a pirate ship made the village its base"

In Japanese, it's

海賊船が停泊している

The word 停泊 (teihaku) means anchorage or mooring.

So the ship (and, by extension, the Red Hairs) made the village a place to anchor themselves, to keep them tethered. An anchor keeps a ship safe, keeps it steady, without one no ship would get very far.

And the first person from the village we see, standing on that very boat, is tiny Luffy with an anchor t-shirt.

I know that we all know that Shanks canonically cannot shut up about his little guy, but it's so sweet that the first thing we see of both of them is an implicit acknowledgment that what kept them in that village for so long, their "anchor" there, as it was, was Luffy

[By the way, I know Shanks keeps calling him anchor and the idea is really really cute, but I don't think he means it in that way. He calls Luffy カナヅチ (kanadzuchi) which means hammer, or a person who can't swim and sinks like a stone. So he's really just making fun of him here, which is also amazing because my man is 27 years old and bullying a child]

Iv'e noticed something about Qiao Ling's character and the way she handles certain situations.

It may just be a coincidence, but in season one when they were doing the child trafficker case, Qiao Ling had seen Doudou walking with the kidnapper. When she was asked about it by the father, she had recognized the picture but had said nothing because she felt guilty that she had done nothing when she saw him get taken away. And then she felt more guilty, so she starts avoiding that area. Overtime that massive guilt had built up, so she felt like she couldn't say anything. She felt as if it was too late now and if she would say anything, she would get heavily blamed.

Another time this happens is during Bridon arc in episode two when Cheng Xiaoshi reveals he will travel to Bridon because of the photo he found. Qiao Ling then feels pressure by Cheng Xiaoshi being possibly in danger, so she tells him about the time his mother came around once to talk to her dad and warned her dad to never let Cheng Xiaoshi go to Bridon. Cheng Xiaoshi then feels hurt because Qiao Ling had kept this to herself for so long.

From these two moments, we can see that Qiao Ling can't handle pressure very well and just closes in. That way, her guilt just builds up more and more overtime until the truth has to come out no matter what.

A lowly Pawniard yells as he scurries off to the deck, soon joined by more screams and muffled sounds of destruction.

CAPTAIN: The hell do you want, runt? What's with all the ruckus going on over there?! GRUNT: It's... It's Megiddo! It woke up!! CAPTAIN: What do you mean it woke up?!

Their conversation would not have time to continue, as the specimen they were housing, a creature of both light and dark, made its final move.

Thus sealing their fates.

GRUNT: !!!

I did this drawing last Valentine's day and I think it's my favorite CSM and 2024 piece. This piece was also really inspired by this Charles Aznavour's song.

I was once again thinking about this goofy Luffy moment after his Lucci punch™ and i had to see it frame by frame.

first the force of it throws them both away, and while Lucci is seen on screen tumbling for a long moment, Luffy is just away in a blink of an eye.

and then his funny scene - his legs are like jelly that he tries to get under control,

he stumbles, falls, rolls into a mix of all his limbs and eyes,

and then only the cloud behind him cushions his fall

- which would be interesting if he can subconsciously control that while he tries to regain the control over his movements - that the environment around him still adapts to his awakened Devil Fruit abilities and morphs to help him. Where others would probably fall through that cloud, for Luffy that cloud backs him up like a trampoline.

It's just fascinating!

i've always intended to hand-bind sckl one day but it's of course very long and still growing (which i loooveeee don't take that the wrong way lol) so logistically i’ll have to split it into multiple volumes. i was wondering if in your mind sckl is built up of different acts, or if u can think of which chapters are natural turning points that might work? if not, a simple but effective way could just be to have a book each for 1994/5, 1996, etc

there’s no urgency for my decision as i’ll probs wait until the fic is complete i just thought i'd throw the question out there :D

in my mind the major turning points more or less coincide with a new year, so it could be a mix of both.

personally i’d group chapters 1-6 together, then chapters 7-13, then 14-through the rest of the 1997 chapters (unfortunately its own novel atp). after that point it’s hard to go by chapters without having it all written out, so please ask again later! currently i’m thinking 1998-1999-the epilogue could possibly be grouped together. 1998 might be on its own too though.
