Roscuro lore established so far: Roscuro is Radiance's right-hand man throughout book 1, and he's mentioned to be just as brutal as she is. He's the father of Belladonna and Fennel, but to him it seems as though they are more like further tools to be used to further Radiance's goals, rather than feeling any proper familial bond. After Roscuro fails in book 1, Radiance pits him and Isabeth against each other, making Isabeth the one to technically kill him by hand.

Cian lore established so far: Cian is Kivan's older brother. He's something of a prodigy, though the details of that have been left vague so far. Cian's reputation makes things hard for Kivan, though it seems like it's not really Cian's fault- he's described as being humble and caring towards Kivan, unaware of what the problem is because Kivan never felt like it was fair to be mad at Cian for it. On another note, Cian is in a relationship with Daisy, the ship name for the two being called "Metal Magic", due to Daisy being an automaton and Cian being a fae

Ellana lore established so far: She's a side character mostly involved in book 4; her backstory has to do with that particular book's themes, and though not specified what exactly, she makes some kind of mistake that is important to the plot. Additionally, she has some kind of bond with Kivan, and though there is no canon romantic relationship, there are people who ship them

Fluffy lore established so far: Madame Spiceberry's pet snake, who seems to match the description for a hognose snake

Zephyr lore established so far: Despite having a prominent role in at least one book, everyone seems to have a habit of forgetting him. One of the adult characters of the cast, he was originally on Radiance's side but not out of malice; once he realizes what she's really up to, he stands up to her and switches sides.

Jacob lore established so far: A brave knight sort of character who ends up dying at some point in the series, sacrificing himself for Rose in some way. It's implied that Radiance is the one who killed him. He had a close relationship with Ruskan, and some people ship them together though it's not directly canon.

Sunrise and Sunset lore established so far: They're minor villains throughout book 4, before getting redeemed and being allies in book 5. During their time as villains, their gimmick is that both twins pretend to be one single person, thus confusing people as to how they're able to do so much in such an efficient way. However, after pretending to be one person so long, their character arcs following that are about trying to figure out how to live as their own, separate, selves.

Favorite AROIIS ships 3/10 : Lockart (Carter x Hemlock)

I've made a moodboard for Carter before but I wasn't entirely satisfied and I didn't know why (well the person playing Viola/Cesario in the 2009 RSC looked older than I thought she was but that was not it). And then it eventually struck me. I didn't thought of Carter as white.

So I started researching Emilie Kouatchou because theatre and opera : period costumes and you wouldn't believe (I'm afraid you would) how hard it is to find non-white people in Victorian clothes on the internet. I also looked her up because there's a masquerade ball in the story. That and someone mentioning an Erik's boyfriend and I may have associated that with POTO.

However I saw a pic of Lucy St Louis as Christine with Meg Giry's actress (Ellie Young) and decided 'That's my Carter. It's him'.

And yes, the flirting at the ball and romance was short-lived and we didn't see much of Hemlock afterwards but it was fun as it lasted.

Favorite AROIIS ships 4/10 : Artik (Erik x Carter)

Well, I lied. I also care about Erik. The perks of being a multishipper. (I couldn't pass the opportunity to use Raoul pics for Erik, honestly). Also, have more pictures of Lucy St Louis.

I'm not putting poly ships in this tag because I'm planning to do a series of moodboards especially for them once I've finished this one.

I checked AROIIS' flower meaning appendix and it says red carnations are for deep love and affection !

IMPORTANT EDIT : 

I totally forgot Belladonna and Isabeth were not in the same age range at all (I hc Belladonna as an adult in her late twenties from the start and I just forgot it wasn't canon -I'm on meds and it's good for my health but my attention and memory are affected by it) and wouldn't have made a ship for them otherwise. My sincerest apologies to anyone that this has distraught.

Here's a correction with my headcanon for sameage!BelladonnaxIsabeth, which was the ship I intended to advocate for here

In this AU Belladonna and Isabeth grew up together under Radiance's yoke and formed a love-hate rival relationship full of resentment and yearning. 

Favorite AROIIS ships 5/10 : Toxic Fumes (Adult!Belladonna x Isabeth)

Look, I didn't expect to like it but since they've been put against each other in your tourney, @icerosesummerbracket, the idea of them together in an AU where they found themselves in Radiance's "care" from a young age but are prevented to be close from the start because Radiance's training them and want them to fight each other when they come off age has lived rent-free in my head. Tragic vibes ! Finding solace in adversity ! Violins ! (And then they go live together in a cottage and adopt Rose's friends Madame Spiceberry hasn't already taken under her wing)

I was struggling with their shipname before I remembered Isabeth was a steam magic user.

Honeysuckles are for ambition. The ring at the left hand bottom has an opening compartiment - I like to think of it as a poison ring.

well technically my plan was to do a Minor Characters bracket next, but if there's enough interest yeah I'd consider doing a ships tournament :)

Personally I don't see the romance in Étienne and Madame Spiceberry's relationship but it's one of my favorite bond in the series.

For me they rather have a Younger Sister/Older Sister-who's-not-much older-but-a-motherly-figure-because-she's-more-mature-emotionally-mature-and-the-younger-one-never-had-a-positive-mother-figure-of-their-own vibes

I mean there's a lot of guidance in their relationship and I'd feel uncomfortable with the power dynamics (w/ Étienne being at baby level when it concerns feelings despite her age while Madame Spiceberry is the most emotionally stable character in AROIIS everyone looks up too) if it was a romantic one

Idk if I'd say there's an unstable power dynamic, Etienne may not be the most emotionally stable person ever but she's still an adult (and she does have her mature moments too!)

You can just say their bond seems more familial in your interpretation, certainly I know I've felt that way about other noncanon ships in other fandoms
