OK so if King Boo's random appearance in Mario Bros Wonder is anything to go by, my headcannon is that he appreciates the fine arts and theater. Albeit, in his own demented way.
Hence, why he likes to trap people in paintings. I like to think that he views it as a twisted version of creating paintings for decoration.
Like, he really enjoys capturing the fear of people in a single image. He views it as a fun way to create masterpieces.
Not to mention the opera singing in Mario Wonder.
The guy just likes to hog all the attention to himself and sing to tout about being the king of boos, all that's macabre, and him being scary.
For example, think about that one verse and it's lyrics in Jack's Lament in The Nightmare Before Christmas.
"I'm a master of fright and a demon of light, and I'll scare you right out of your pants".
"When it comes to surprises in the moonlit night, I excel without ever even trying."
"With the wave of my hand and a well placed moan, I have swept the very bravest off their feet."
IDK, I just picture that King Boo is like this, always looking to be feared and strike fear into people, especially Luigi.
And he admires himself for it.
#I'm sure this is basically him already#but I just wanted to put my thoughts out there#me going through the king boo rabbithole in real time#i'm hyperfixating again#hyperfixation my beloved#random fandom stuff#random fandom thoughts#super mario bros wonder#mario bros wonder#mario wonder#king boo#luigi's mansion#sort of#super mario#luigi

I've been getting worse and worse youtube recommendations so I was wondering about what kind of videos do you enjoy and like to watch! I miss watching content that is actually informative and interesting :(
oo ok here's a list:
if you like longform content: fd signifier, folding ideas and jenny nicholson are the only three 'video essayists' i still watch, video essayists in general are kind of intolerable to me LOL 90% of them have nothing to say and theyre also very unfunny (or whatevernot my style of humour). but jenny does interesting topics with unique insight and fd and dan olson have great social insight.
all of fd signifier's videos are great but i'd recommend his kanye (pt 1, pt 2, epilogue), nicki minaj, drake or kendrick vs drake videos as a starting point, or his videos on black conservatism (pt 1, pt 2) the obamas (pt 1, pt 2) and the manosphere (pt 1, pt 2, pt 3). folding ideas' videos on NFTs, the Metaverse, and the Gamestop short squeeze, are an excellent pseudo-trilogy that, despite the jargon often rife in the crypto/stock space, are made easily understandable to the audience. recommending jenny nicholson on tumblr feels redunant but the bronycon video is particularly great.
if you like jenny nicholson's theme park content defunctland is fun. love his recent documentaries on fastpass and disney animatronics are great. huge backlog of videos to watch from him
oh also climate town if youre interested in climate change and the weird little ways tha corporations rule our daily life, and also notjustbikes for weirdly fun and interesting and existential videos on moving away from cars and urban planning and car-dependance. idk where to put him but jay foreman makes great videos on weird stuff about london, england and maps. idk how to recommend him well but he's super fun.
for science (some also long form): angela collier makes videos about physics and the state of physics academia, and bobbybroccoli makes excellent documentaries about science and science-related frauds. nilered is sort of a mad scientist and does great chemistry content. speed up his videos though and you gotta get used to his speaking cadence lol.
for history: historytime makes great history videos, long and about stuff like the bronze age. histocrat does as well, i particularly like his video on the voynich manuscript. im careful about history youtubers cos theyre often stupid and fash but these two are great. stefan milo is great for neolithic and paleolithic content, he's wonderful at making this ancient history feel human and real.
tasting history with max miller makes great videos on cooking historical recipes and talking about the history behind it. nuanced and super fun!
im not into gaming but ahoy makes great gaming related content mostly about the history of gaming and retro games, i rewatch his video on the polybius arcade game myth all the time. and jacob geller makes great video game video essays that make me, a person who does not play video games, interested.
fredik knudsen has a great 6hour behemuth on eveonline and his other content has gaming stuff and a lot of internet rabbitholes. warning his stuff also includes like, lolcow sort of content. not specifically doing lolcow farms stuff but he does talk about it.
if you're into mysteries/internet rabbitholes/crime: lemmino is a pioneer in the genre basically everyone is aping his style, barelysociable is the best of the lemmino disciples and his video on the silk road drug market is great, vuldar is another "lemmino clone but he's good"if you like lemmino" sort of guy, same with abstract, blameitonjorge does lost media stuff. oki's weird stories makes well videos on weird little stories like jacob wohl (pt 1, pt 2)
missingenigma does missing 411 cases and presents them in a MUCH better light than the rest of youtube, basically discusses strange missing persons cases that are in fact perhaps not so strange. insomnia tv does icebergs on cryptids, history mysteries, true crime etc. hes a small youtuber and i dont always agree with his ideas on like bigfoot or whatever but he's super fun i love his southern accent he's great to put on while im cooking and cleaning
if you like animals: antscanada makes these dramatic videos about his huge terrarium super funny and fun to watch theres like three seasons of it, robert e fuller makes great videos on native british wildlife like documenting the parenting habits of owls, octopus lady does fun ocean content
if you're interested in other cultures: blondie in china makes videos about her life living in china, little china everyday also does china content, africaeveryday makes fun videos about his daily life in nigeria in the style of atomicshrimp who i also recommend if you're interested in the daily adventures of a british man. kiun b makes videos about living in yakutia in siberia, tatiana haina is super underrated and makes great videos about living in ghana
foodieland makes videos about korean food like restaurants and stuff, no talking just documenting
if you like reels/shortform content: uyen ninh is this vietnamese woman living in germany and makes great reels and also videos about her culture and about germany. eoin reardon is an irish carpenter, meditations on the anxious mind is another irish guy who makes hilarious little videos about subcultures with added philosphy, gunnar deatherage is a fashion designer who has done some looks for chappell roan
There's so many more i watch that are great but this already took me like an hour to compile so ill end it here, but you can ask me for more specific recs and i can give them ^_^ kisses

The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature | Official Reveal Trailer
As usual, the Build/Buy content looks amazing AF, but I was hoping to see way more of the CAS stuff, the wings, the magic--you know, the FAIRIES?!
Y’all made us sit blue-balled thru this dry boring trailer for...meh. 🙄😒
These are the only wings I like. PLEASE tell me EA is finally gonna let us HIDE the wings when the fae is around normies?
Did her wings go away cuz that’s an actual ABILITY fae have, or was that just for the trailer cuz the girl was just dreaming? If yes, that’s AWESOME--same way I love how TS4′s vampires have a normie look AND a vamp look, the way werewolves do; it’s one of my fave thingf about TS4 occults; hiding in plain sight.
But why bother hiding, when the fashion is from the kiddie section at Halloween-R-Us?! The clothes are a hard NOPE for me--the dude looks the best of all, which is NEW for EA; I’m shook! 🫨
Flower Beards--YAAS, KING! 😍
But you’d think after seeing what an epic fail the TS4 Plantsims are that EA’d do all out on making Fae really look more plant/bug-like: cool skintones & makeup/tattoos & antennae & leaves & petals & roots everywhere--real High Fantasy Nature Couture Realness.
This looks more like a Halloween costume. It’s just basic Prom dresses and a lazy AF top/skirt combo that pales in comparison to TS3′s counterparts--
--let alone the incredible CC the modding community’s been making for the past DECADE since this effing game came out. No, the best you get is this guy who looks like he fits better in ITF’s Utopia than in the land of the fae!
What in the High School Prom Night in Whoville are these shoes, EA? 🤦
Ok, lemme stop being mean--the CAS stuff doesn’t matter; the modders always do FAR better than EA ever has in that department; so why am I even surprised?
On to the GAMEPLAY.
EA kinda sorta listened to my call thru the ether way back in the Werewolf pack about making the occult lifestate & world flora/fauna work together to cure magical ailments & such (x x).
Seems like gardening, potions & herbs will be a real focus--which is recycled content with another coat of paint, sure, but this is EA after all. So instead of SN EP’s Elixir Shop, TS4 will have a Potions Shop--that better not be a rabbithole EA! 👀
There’s so much Build/Buy goodies though, ngl. 😍 😍
The Shire roofs~! 😍 😍 😍
But I don’t really care about any of that--these gardening/foraging skills look like something any sim can do. What is unique to the FAIRIES?
These pestering sprites look exactly like TS3′s LN EP Will-O-Wisps, which is cute for continuity, but lame compared to what the fae sprites look like in SN.

I’m seeing a lot of old interactions from the SN EP return, but what is new and INNOVATIVE here, to push the franchise FORWARD?
This animation is so stupid--she looks DEAD. 🤦 Once again, EA’s mistaken Nature-Buff with Homeless:
I would’ve at least had a magical patch of flowers/moss grow all around her as she slept, kinda like the trail of flowers that appear wherever TS3 Plantsims walk. And no MUSHROOM RING?! That’s rule 101 of the fae, duh, EA! 🤦

Not a single mushroom in sight. This is a Hedgewitch, EA. A cluttered greenhouse/treehouse does NOT a faery make! DO MORE.
Speaking of trees--
I despise that the new Faery Treehouse has such a basic plain design, and has to sit on a table, instead of being it’s own plant-like growth. Even the giant burrow tree in Country Living looked more fit for fae than this crap.
There’d better be more options & prettier treehouse choices, EA, istg. 😤This design sorely lacks imagination & creativity, esp. when TS3′s look so much better.
I hope this is a treehouse, though it's giving more SN EP Jellybean Bush--but as a harvestable plant for ingredients. I wonder if it’ll kill/affect normie sims.
Grandfather Willow, come through? I love that there’s a Jack-in-the-Green, but I hate that it’s a dead-looking tree stump, and not legit Grandmother Willow with an iconic huge foliage canopy.

What would be REALLY cool is if there was an NPC Plantsim Jack / Old Man of the Woods who could help sims with stuff. Not whatever’s going on with the cooky gnome angle they’re leaning towards.
Jesus.
What on earth--you know what? Nevermind, forget I asked.
And don’t you dare show any mermaid motifs, when TS4′s mersims were barely a step above TS4′s plantsims in the Lame Department.
Yawn. I’d rather see the forest for the trees, cuz this is a FAERY pack--why TF would I care about some seaside portside fishing village? That was Island Living’s job, DUH.
And I said I’d stop being mean, LOL. 😅 But what ticking me off most about this whole expansion is that it’s giving TS3′s Hidden Springs--which had a MUCH stronger concept even years before we ever got SN.

That’s what’s killing me. Cuz you could easily tell that there was the normie side of town, but the deeper you went off the beaten path, the more obvs it was that there were legit ELVES living in Hidden Springs, too, chugging whatever meth was in that magic fountain of theirs that turned their skin green & blue & whatever.

So like, is this glowing stone the entrance to a magical realm, like Realm of Magic’s portal gate that led to Diagon Alley? Or is this just a hidden corner of the nornie world, like Hidden Springs’ area where the Fountain of Youth was, Tuck Everlasting style? Ngl, it had better be a magical realm portal, EA; I hope there’s whole Hobbit Town Shire where fae live, separate from the muggles; the way I’d hoped RoM would be.
I am SO SICK of EA being scared to go the distance and really do the occult lifestates justice, and really give them a High Fantasy expansion that takes place in a different time, the way the SN EP was obvs more Victorian/Vintage, and ITF was ofc scifi. Stop with the generic hipster millennial garbage, and take us to another world already! These are FAERIES, ffs! The one time y’all should’ve literally done a full-fledged Fairy World! And instead we get MAINE!? 🤦
TL;DR: Underwhelmed, but still curious.
*sigh*
I’m still lowkey excited, okay? I hope this pack works out, cuz this is the 2nd TS4 lifestate I’ve BEEN waiting for after Witches. But EA really better make sure there’s WAY more to this EP than what they’ve showed, cuz they had 13 YEARS since TS3′s SN EP to get faeries right, and so far I’m just seeing an awful lotta hedgewitching and very little fae shenangians. 🤔

Hii! I've been on ur blog for a bit and all the writing advice is super duper helpful
I'm sort of having trouble with starting basically anything w writing right now. I'm a beginner, I feel like i really want to make something but at this point I'm sort of stumped 😭 I'm not sure how to come up with real ideas or how I should even start.
I want to get good at writing. I can draw but most of the time I don't really know what I want to cmake if that makes sense
Do you have advice for this? My apologies if you've already answered an ask like this before lol I don't mean to bother, I hope your having an amazing day <333
Hi! I understand this is a difficult situation but from the looks of It, I think your trouble is the mind jail you're in currently. We see it repeated on Tumblr often "Do it bad, do it imperfect, just do it", and I'd like to fully stand by that advice here when talking to you!
Struggles with starting
Really there's no easier way to say this, but you have to Just Start. However there are multiple ways to help you Just start!
- Have something to write with easily on hand at all times, you never know when the idea strikes! This can be phone or even a notepad!
- When the idea strikes GET IT. Pounce on it like a jaguar. Get itttt. If you don't feel like expanding on it, then leave it, but you need to start treating all possible ideas that you vibe with, as potential sprouts to grow! If you spend too much time second guessing or debating over if the idea is good enough or not, you Won't Write More. If the idea sucks, you don't have to commit! But don't let the ideas pass you by! If you get an idea catch it, write it down, find expansive questions to grow it with, get music, brainstorm, vibe, rest, repeat! You are always allowed to start and stop. You are the god of your writing.
- It is okay to suck. You don't have to be good to share, but you also don't even have to share if you don't want! You don't have to share anything to anyone!
Struggles with ideas
- Find inspiration. Where? Anywhere! Start new shows, new movies, read other people's writing, look at flowers on the sidewalk, ask your parents dumb Fandom questions, get into a new music genre. You don't have to follow through with everything but so long as you surround yourself with variety, you will be nurturing your creativity! Just get a steady flow of new stuff to enrich your brain. This is part of the soil your sprouts will need.
- Make mind maps, Google every little detail you can think of relating to your new idea when you have it (not so much you'd exhaust yourself tho!), interrogate yourself, ask people to ask you questions about your idea, go down pointless meanders and rabbitholes about the idea. Give it time to soak. Indulge it. Be a little pretentious over it even.
- Nothing is original anymore, and every different interpretation is valuable enough to exist. What you make is unique to yourself. These ideas all coexist
Struggles with skills
- I am going to say this very gently but firmly. You will get better by doing more. You will hone your skills by using them.
- There's loads of resources both online and irl to search from if you want to improve your writing! You can even try to imitate styles that you like and start moving from there. Kinda like how artists do Studies. You can also expand your vocabulary by searching up different words for things you already know, or words relating to the things you wanna write. It'll help lots! My personal recommendation for improving writing even a little bit is to be conscious of your word choices and make sure you don't overuse the same word too much, at least not in the same sentence. Unless that's the intended effect you're going for
As a closing statement I also wanna add that you should just take care of yourself in general. Sometimes your brain needs more enrichment to work better, or sometimes it just doesn't really give you much just because. Try not to get torn up over it and try again later.
Hope any of this helps! Be brave!

ART FIGHT PART 2
everyone…. I did it!
I finished all my refs before art fight!!
Ehhhhh tbh i finished half and then went actually that’s enough
So let’s get into them and also for the first time in a while i’m working on a project babyyyyy if anyone likes lore dumps… this is the post for you
And if it’s not? Look at the cool art pls!
Let’s GO!
First up! Whisperrrrrr
(I know anyone who watched Minecraft content during covid might all be thinking the same thing… she’s older than my knowledge of ranboo lol ok lets continue)
Whisper! Is my little alien girl! She’s of unknown age and was found in the hull of a spaceship, a curious young thing who loooooves climbing on stuff and is basically a cat in her behaviour. From sitting on high places to the curious need to swat at anything she doesn’t understand. She’s got some pretty broken English because she’s still learning and her little fangs give her a lisp. I love her she’s baby and now basically my mascot!
When i tell yall… i have fallen down a precure rabbithole. I LOVE THE SHOWS SO MUCH UGHHH I JUST HAD TO MAKE MY OWN OC AND I WILL BE DRAWING MORE MAGICAL GIRLS YES
Meet Lillian the remnant of my short lived miraculous lady bug phase.. she’s a 14 year old girl who just transferred to a new town to be closer to the hospital. She’s got a pretty bad immune system causing her to be rather frail and get tired very quickly. Having spent a lot of her childhood in a hospital bed she’s determined to make a fresh start. Her health has been stable and she doesn’t need to travel as far anymore and the school nearby is very disability accessible SO SHE GETS TO GO TO SCHOOL!
In the story her health swings a ton thanks to a magic paper bird granting her the power to become a magical girl to save the world! But it does come with the price of exhaustion. She will have to learn to balance both sides of herself as she makes both friends and enemies!
Last 4 THESE ARE THE ONES WHO’S PAGES I WILL BE LINKING SO IF U WANNA ATTACK ME IN ART FIGHT HEHE HERE YOU GO
MY EEBYDEEBYS MY BABIES MY KIDS MY LOVESSSS
meet some of the important characters of my original project quest for the moon(concept title)
She
The 4 champions chosen by the moon goddess herself the benevolent 4 who started it all
They have some hinted lore in their art fight bio’s ehehehe
But i can get into them a little bit here!
CIRCE!
The benevolent high priestess of the children of dragons,
Her people reign over the tops of mountains and the depths of canyons, skilled gliders
She was chosen by the moon as the representative of her people as both an elegant but emotional woman knowing her decisions would not be as cold hearted as her father’s. She’s infatuated by the wizard fallis but her heart strongly beats for the more gruff Jaecar (i ship them so bad and they weren’t even supposed to be canon lol)
JAECAR
The general of a big pack of childeren of the wolves he was chosen to represent the people for his determination but kind heart. A strong leader who knows how to protect what he loves.
Jaecar got his position at a young age after being pushed forward as a young man to stand up against the leader of their traveling town, people thought he’d turn cold after the loss of his eye but his kindness persevered. He’s one to start a fight if he believes he’s in the right causing the others quite a scare but he basically turns into a golden retriever when he’s not under pressure.
He wishes to share his determination with circe as she’s pushing through the complications of her people’s views on her. (And they will kiss.. EY WHO SAID THAT)
ARIEL
chosen by the moon for her relaxed view upon life she brings her calming energy to any debate
Her people roam the waters as the children of the ocean, often far apart the small communities always welcome the young explorer in their mits. She’s very in tune with the emotions of others and wishes to protect them at all costs, often comforting Circe, laughing alongside Jaecar… and keeping an eye on the young Fallis
Her views upon the moon aren’t always as positive as the others.
FALLIS
A young man who had always looked highly upon the moon goddess, seeking her guidance in his craft of healing. He doesn’t believe in violence living a pacifist life. Always putting others before himself.
When the moon chose him the represent the children of the deer he saw it as the greatest honor, he followed the goddess closely and she took a strong liking to the mortal boy. But.. she would never help him in his pursuit of peace and health for everyone, he never understood why she’d try to hold him back when she bestowed him with a gift that was supposed to heighten his abilities. And that feeling… can grow to resentment over time…
HAHA that’s all, gottaaaa keep yall on your toes <3
Please check out the characters on my artfight! And i hope you all have a wooooonderfull day!
More on this pacifist deer boy soon
Byeeeee

Something I've noticed when building worlds in Sims 3 how IMPORTANT it is to do routing and numbr of lots correctly. It actually doesn't matter too much if the world is small or big, routing really causes at least 50+% lag in this game. This mountain map is for example built on the largest map. And it still runs as good as my other city Ostbrück, which is a small map. (well of course it's not populated yet, but like I said number of lots + routing cause more than 50+% of the lag, IMO!) Oh yeah, and my worlds are filled with almost 2GB of CC soooo, yeah! Routing routing routing... and don't explode your worlds with lots :))!
This soon finished mountain world runs sooo fluent!!! I was afraid first it would not run smooth bc of the routing for the mountains and stuff. Well I also managed to compromise lots very well, (basically multiple rabbitholes on one lot so you can save yourself from higher lot numbers). Ugh I can't wait to release this world soon! Ngl I had so much fun doing it and idk what happened but my game hasn't crashed ONCE, since I started building this world???? Hello????
Still gonna do some routing tests, then I will finish 3 more buildings, populate it, then some more tests are needed and theeeennn ;)))

I have a confession: I used to believe all narcissists were toxic, and I'm pretty sure you've singlehandedly changed my mind.
I came from a very emotionally abusive + neglectful home and my dad has a lot of narcissistic traits (as in, consistent-with-the-DSM type traits, as per a therapist, not just the pop-psych shit) that he does not acknowledge and has never sought any kind of individual MH treatment other than family therapy with me and my mom present, which was very ineffective in terms of changing his behavior or improving my relationship with him.
///////(brief description of emotional abuse in this next paragraph, just a warning, I'm not trying to trauma dump or be triggering it's just some context, you can skip it if you want)
generally, my dad would use my older brother and I as his emotional outlet in ways that were usually humiliating or demoralizing, including manipulating us into arguing/fighting with each other so that he could then break up the fight to assert dominance, or else he would join in the argument by supporting one of us (often me but not always) and criticizing/arguing against the other (often my brother), usually basically verbally browbeating his opponent into submission so he could "win". this was also as an abusive thing towards our mom, bc she hates it when people argue and would always get really uncomfortable until the fight stopped. these tactics generally involved intellectual or academic topics that he would encourage us to have really heated debates over and discourage us from leaving the conversation if we got upset, inevitably resulting in it boiling to a head of name-calling, personal insults, etc.
///////(end abuse description)
it did a number on both my brother and I; we bickered constantly and ended up emotionally distant from each other as adults, and to this day sometimes it feels like he doesn't trust me enough to reveal details of his personal life to me for fear of reprisal. it also basically ruined my relationship with my dad, ofc, especially when I became his sole outlet after my brother left and he stopped being able to scapegoat him.
as a result of this, often when I see narcissistic traits/behaviors in others, or see people mention they have NPD, and especially if they're posting basically any kind of discourse, my gut reaction is fear and aversion, because it's hardwired into my brain that that's associated with imminent abuse. it didn't help that one of the first support spaces that ever recognized what happened to me as abuse was r/raisedbynarcissists, which I'm sure you're not fond of given the amount of pseudoscience and anti-NPD shit on there, and so I fell really deep into that rabbithole of basically just thinking people with NPD were evil.
I did eventually stop going on RBN, bc I ended up majoring in psychology and realizing most of the stuff people said on that subreddit was completely divorced from any kind of validated scientific inquiry and may have even been actively harming my recovery by getting me to fixate on the abuse, along with seeing more and more frequent critiques of the community by people on this site, and I started to evolve and question my idea of what "evil" even means if it could be caused by something involuntary like a disorder (though for a while I remained quietly resistant to the idea that narcissists could be good people even if they weren't necessarily evil).
but I think seeing you post so passionately about transmasc issues and defend us so readily (I'm transmasc) really challenged that and made me question my core beliefs in a big way. here is someone with good opinions that I agree with, someone who is sticking her neck out for another group of people, and who doesn't really stand to gain much aside from some attention from strangers on the internet. in contrast to my dad, who is a misogynist who would often use my AGAB and physical traits as a means to harass me when I was younger, you're someone I can't just say is "toxic" and avoid - it became clear to me that you're someone worth listening to and learning from.
and, you know, the trauma-response voice in my head is always saying "oh, it's attention-seeking behavior, sooner or later the other shoe will drop and she'll abandon us and maybe even turn on us!" but like... even if that's the case, which I'm not even saying it is bc that's a deeply uncharitable and kind of irrational thing of me to think of you, i actually don't care?? you're doing something good here, something worth commending, I don't really care what the motive is, especially since you clearly have your head screwed on right about the morality/ethics side of the issue. You're saying things that need saying. I don't believe in punishing good deeds! and even if eventually you did decide to move on with your life and go pursue some other interest, like, that's also your right, and my abandonment issues should be my own business to deal with and not blame on others.
I'm just glad you're here now advocating for us and with us tbh. so, thank you, not just for defending transmascs but for helping me learn to understand people with NPD better and unpack my own trauma-based biases. genuinely, this change of heart is helping me in my recovery process, is helping me let go of the shame of having some of the same traits and letting me acknowledge them without judging myself, and I just wanted you to know that you had that kind of a positive impact. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing this with me. <3 I appreciate and love you a lot, and I'm glad I could be of some help to you!

More Community Lots
So, here are a couple more community lots in town.
This one is across the street from the school. It's where the business lot is in the modern version of this town.
It's an old lot from Parsimonious Sims called the Ruby Rooms, and is zoned as an exclusive lounge. I did do some relandscaping on the outside, but nothing much. Mostly got rid of a lot of redundant hedges that came with the original and added the trees out front. I wanted to keep it pretty simple.
This is the ground floor. In the one room on the left, sims can get married. I think the original creator had a major Twilight thing going on in her life at the time, because she went nuts with the candles. I did change out the chandeliers in the lobby and added a pool table in the lounge area on the right.
The second floor is the banquet area. I upgraded all the tables - giving them actual tablecloths because you'd expect that in a classy place. I also gave them a dance floor instead of leaving that open area between the 2 buffet tables blank. Plus I got rid of all the ceiling lights she had. Mostly because this is a 2-story room and ceiling lights hanging from a non-existent ceiling makes no sense to me. I used those invisible lights from buydebug instead.
And on the top floor, I used those store gambling sets, along with @mspoodle1's poker tables, to create a small casino area for my sims to lose all their simoleons. The left side she had made into a huge bathroom - that I left. I got rid of some stuff, but basically left it alone.
Then across the street is the Baker Street Bakery. I got this lot from the Magic Kingdom world. The original lot ended with that light blue build, so I added that extra build on the end for the town spa - because I needed to stick it somewhere and I had the space here.
This is the ground floor. I think all I did here was change the floor tile.
And this is the 2nd floor. I changed all of this floor, adding those tea-set tables and adding that small lounge area for the dudes. Plus the bathrooms. I think in the original, they had made this into a kitchen, but there was lots of room on the first floor for the bakery kitchen stuff, so that's where I put it. As for the spa, it just has the rabbithole rug in it, because I got lazy.
#sims 3#Sunset valley Victorian#thanks to the creators over on Parsimonious for their lot and the creators of that Magic Kingdom world for theirs

If you've been following me or reading through my blog, you might notice I've posted recently about Pastra. More specifically the Jeff The Killer rewrite they did. Now watching that got me to watch a stream they did a few months back on quinnamon's channel with some other people where they talked about the Jeff the killer fandom, and I left a comment on that video regarding an observation I've had stuck in my head for a while now about internet media in general that I feel the need to also voice here because I find it so fascinating.
With that context out of the way, here's my copy pasted (but slightly cleaned up) analysis of human mythology and memetic evolution of stories and canons as it pertains to the internet, creepypasta OCs, popular AU fanfiction, Star Wars, and The Bible:
The Jeff The Killer OC rabbithole reminds me of the Undertale AU community. The Undertale community in general has people convincing themselves that fan additions are canon, but the OC fanfic network of OCs being made to interact with other OCs is the same thing basically, except with the multiverse involved. Which, I'm told, was also the main basis of the Onceler fandom beyond the initial selfcest pairing.
But as I mentioned it also reminds me of the Undertale fandom in general and over there, there are arguments about what is fanon and what is canon to this day. Canon is a term we invented because of similar arguments regarding religion, more specifically christianity. The modern depiction of both hell and Lucifer are based on fanfiction, that being Dante's Inferno and Paradise Lost. Which goes to show that religion and mythology is just a big web of fanfiction that becomes considered canon with time and popularity. Its all a game of telephone but with people intentionally changing stuff to add OCs or headcanons. As another commenter pointed out, this is also the entire basis of Arthurian Legend. And I've also seen people make comparisons between fandom and religion plenty of times, notably, someone once said that people argue over star wars canon down to the smallest details as special editions or original edition, and they treat it the same way different denominations of Christianity treat the different versions of the Bible that exist. And I can see exactly what they mean by that and they have a point
The thing is though, is that the internet allows these things, like Creepypasta OCs, and AU versions of characters, to happen much faster and without being nearly as limited by geographical concerns. It's like a sped up, but less mainstream, version of that phenomenon. People say comics are the modern american mythology or whatever, and its kinda true, but this is how it really works, because this is entirely in the hands of the people and there is no true canon.
In conclusion, Jeffrey Woods is Sans Undertale who is also Jesus Christ, none of which actually have those last names by the way. Thanks for reading.

There will be a post about many things including this, but @lanthanum12 (and everyone whom I didn't tag but who likes both of those things) I just realized that "encanto" (as a verb, yes, the movie is a noun, but it is a verb too) basically means "I am admired/admirable" but as an active verb, and I immediately though of you because this connects two things you like. [Yes I am having an etymological rabbithole about your fav Maia'a names and some related stuff]
Hmm i need to check the etymology of "Mirabel" too… so, the Latin origin of it means… basically, "admirable" [or "miraculous" if you like this too] It means a couple things but all in the very close semantic area of Mairon and tbh with Mirabel it's even in the word, ad-mirable, it shows the familial resemblance.
Do with it what you will.

"#Alfred basically catches a lamb and goes
#''you're a beautiful wolf; i know you are; now you're gonna bite my hand until you draw blood so we both believe it;
#because that's the way we know how to be men.''
#and then 10 years down the line he looks at Bruce and he whispers in horror; ''that's a wolf''
#GIRL YES HE IS; YOU MADE HIM ONE. IT WAS YOU"
Your tags are so- Idk I don't have the words. No wait I DO-
THIS IS FREAKING BEAUTIFUL OMG
The way Bruce wasn't born with sharp teeth and claws to defend himself against the world. The place he was born into removed any need to grow them, but at the same time the place he was born into was the catalyst for him to turn into stone. Hard, unyielding to pressure and with its own jagged edges that you can hit until your knuckels bleed.
But the thing about stone is that you can chip away at it until it looks like what you want.
So Bruce was a lamb at the beginning, possessing talc for a heart, easy to rub to dust, but after the murders, he was molded into something different. He grew teeth and claws so big and strong it became difficult to be gentle, his heart was rubbed to dust and reformed and compressed and rubbed to dust and reformed and compressed until it turned into a diamond.
Alfred taught him how to be a wolf but didn't account on what would happen once Bruce's claws were bigger than his own.
CAN YOU TALK MORE ABOUT BRUCE AND ALFRED'S DYNAMIC PLEASE? You're literally rearranging my brain chemistry as I'm typing, wow. This feels so freaking strange. Thank you so so SO much
I wish you an AMAZING day
GOOD MAD MONDAY NOON TO YOU ANON YOU'RE KILLING ME. Like i'm over here lying face flat on the ground, head fucking full 99 thoughts per second this ride is going straight to hell—
You actually made them sound a lot like the Pygmalion myth, which is so right and true and also a very delicately apt interpretation of the way Bruce and Alfred's dynamic unfolds, particularly in Bruce's childhood, and particularly as portrayed in the Gotham series (which is my all time favourite Bruce&Alfred dynamic anyway, so excuse me for being annoying and immediately nosedive down that rabbithole)
See, to me the thing is, i dont think Bruce and Alfred understand each other at all. They're cut from very different clothes, and Alfred doesn't understand what Bruce /is/, but he understands what Bruce /can become/, maybe even what he's supposed to become, Bruce is the fifth element to him. Combine that lack of understanding and all the love and affection Alfred holds for Bruce and of course he makes a project of perfection out of him; Alfred molds and makes Bruce. Batman as a persona and as a purpose precisely exists *because of the way Alfred raises Bruce*, this is something that Gotham TV puts extra emphasis on. In many ways Alfred does carve Bruce into an idea of perfection, *his* idea of perfection, and Bruce lets him too. This is where stuff get a bit complicated though; Alfred is someone who struggles with his own humanity and darker side. He's so loving and loyal, but he's also bitter and mean with a vicious bite and he handles Bruce with such cold hands sometimes, and he hates every second of it, he hates his own humanity. So he pushes Bruce to get rid of his too, and they have this constant push and pull because Bruce has those exact traits. they're similar not in what they own about themselves, but in their shadows, when the sun shines on them their flawed humanity has the exact same shape and they both don't want a shadow; eventually the way they resolve this is by standing back to back and protecting each other and now they share their shadows and it's not so scary anymore. The Pygmalion myth as a parallel interpretation of their narrative fits so darn well because you are right, Bruce is made into stone and Alfred sculpts him to something beautiful and almost horrifying, almost inhuman, he sometimes forgets that Bruce is a person and not an idea, and it shows. But Bruce breaks mold, he always does, he forces Alfred to live with his own humanity and Bruce's, and this brings up a lot of grief for Alfred, but he loves Bruce so he finds a way to live with it and he does.
The Lamb/wolf metaphor is a different face to this same transformation process; in the early years Alfred has little space for Bruce's terrifying softness, but neither does Bruce. Bruce is scared of his own vulnurability and tenderness, this lamb *wants* to become something else, something less weak and helpless, something that could've saved his parents. He doesn't want to become a wolf persay, but the thing is, he has the makings. This is the reason Alfred can bring it out of him; he very much has the makings of a wolf. to juxtapose it with the pygmalion allegory; you cannot carve out of the stone what is not already in it. (this does bring up the question wether Bruce was ever a lamb at all, but that's a different topic for another day✨️)
anyway yep, i love your mind Anon, and thank you for the question! Hope you have an absolutely wonderful day too ❤️❤️
#i'm gonna put my brain in the Bruce&Alfred vibe juice and put in the lab fridge#let it soak for 79 hours i need to THINK#this is so so good so many good ideas happening here#and i'm always a sucker for Gotham!Bruce&Alfred talk 😩😩#Bruce Wayne#Alfred Pennyworth#Bruce Wayne meta#Alfred Pennyworth meta#Batman#Batman meta#batfam#Gotham#Gotham TV

Geoff Castellucci 2024 Recap
Hello fam and welcome to my 2024 recap post for what Geoff has been up to on his solo channel this year! (This will be followed up with a VoicePlay 2024 recap in a day or two, don't you worry). This year was my first full year of being "fully down the rabbithole", and I started this sideblog back in late January, so basically this is just a "quick" (hah!) summary of stuff that I've more or less already covered on this blog, because it's just a bit of fun!
Right, before we get to the full-length stuff, I gotta of course give a shout-out to the shorts! Geoff uploaded seven shorts this year: Texas Hold 'Em, Trust In Me, I'm On Fire, The Rainbow Connection, Rawhide, Friends On The Other Side, and Loch Ness Monster. I would love to be able to pick a favourite or two, but I can't! Trust In Me and Rainbow Connection have both gone onto my "Last Resort Sleep Playlist" (a collection of Geoff narrations and music tracks), Texas Hold Em is a vibe, Rawhide is a catchy banger, Loch Ness Monster is fun, Friends On The Other Side is *brilliant*, and I'm On Fire is nice too!
But now that's out of the way, onto the main part of the post, where I get to revisit every single song from this year! :D
Wicked Game - released February 9th
On my personal Discord server, early in February, I was like "y'know it's entirely possible that Geoff's first song of 2024 could kinda sorta be a song for Valentine's Day?" and well, it kinda went in the exact opposite direction! But hey I'm calling that a Nat 10 for the album art alone. Geoff continued the trend of having his first release of the year be one involving a piano, and this kinda had bits and pieces of his previous piano covers to it as well! The initial "grizzly bear singing a lullaby" (not my phrasing) vocal tone/timbre, like in Till Then, the utterly haunting soundscape kinda similar to Sound Of Silence, and the visual vibe of High And Dry (I actually did a mini two-picture comparison between High And Dry and Wicked Game which you can go find HERE). But also like High And Dry was the way Geoff went higher with every chorus bit, but then brought it all back down at the end! And you can go find my initial thoughts post I made about it HERE
Favourite music moment: When he goes highest on the final chorus and does that vocal run thing on "No IIIIIIIII..."
Favourite visual moment: The brief cut to black followed immediately by a front close shot of Geoff. Either that or just the way the video holds on Geoff sitting at the piano in silence for a few moments right at the end - very impactful!
Unshaken - released March 9th
And Now For Something Completely Different To What Came Before! Y'know when the video premiere showed up on YouTube and I saw in the video description that Geoff said about "the perfect opportunity to bring the riders back", I was like "Lol could you imagine if this video was kinda sorta a "prequel" to Ghost Riders In The Sky? Like with Jeff, Goff, Jeoph, and Daryl being regular human cowboys before they became ghost riders/ghost cowboys? Haha just kidding unless?" AND THEN GUESS WHAT! (Still sad that I didn't find any reactors who made that connection in their videos tbh). I also made a photo compilation thing comparing each of the "Riders" in this to how they look as "Ghost Riders" in Ghost Riders In The Sky! (link to post)
This quickly became my favourite Geoff release of 2024 for a while, and at the very least I'd still say it's my favourite video of his of the year (and only one of two 2024 videos that I did Voiceplay-adjacent Visuals for, which you can find HERE). Also Jeoph has no business looking that good in that handlebar moustache, like it gives me a crisis! That's not the kind of look that I'm usually attracted to! The moustache isn't even real! Why do you look so good like that?!!?
Favourite music moment: the eardrum-shaking D1 sub and the awesome G4 chest/mixed note, alongside the absolutely insane amount of G1s!!
Favourite visual moment: Of course I love that final silhouette shot of Goff, Daryl, Jeoph, and Jeff, but I also gotta give a shoutout to something that's not part of this video: there's no gramophone logo at the end! Which I choose to believe was a subtle nod to the fact that "regular Geoff" isn't in this one! It's just the clones!
You Don't Mess Around With Jim - released May 10th
This is actually the only full-length video of 2024 to feature Geoff being fully sleeveless! (This includes VoicePlay videos, but not counting the Minis and stuff). Quite a difference to the amount of sleeveless-ness(?) we got last year, but honestly, when you have five Geoffs in black tank tops staring down the camera and looking like that, well I think we absolutely still certainly got our fill! (One of the commenters said that this video was "like if the guys from Sixteen Tons grew up and got scarier" and they're kinda not wrong!)
Apparently there are a few people who think that certain reactors are "too over the top" or "must be faking it" but they clearly haven't met me because like I didn't even get to the first line of this song before I had to pause and rewind! The immediate start with the stomps and the claps and the humming had me being like "waitwaitwait I wasn't ready hang on a minute!" and genuinely the moment of "you don't - into the wind" with what sounded like glass shattering almost gave me half a heart attack the first time! Definitely a catchy tune, though!
Favourite music moment: I quite enjoyed the part sung by "Slim" (always nice to hear Geoff singing in a bit of upper register!) but also I of course have to also give love to the bit of scatting at the end! Is there anything he can't do?
Favourite visual moment: When Geoff hits that E1 subharmonic at the end and the other "Geoffs" either side of him start stomping and clapping again while "Lead Geoff" stands relatively motionless. It just works!
Big Iron - released July 12th
This one is definitely a bit special to me. Not only is it Geoff's 30th full-length song cover on his channel, but also it's the first full cover I got early access to since joining Geoff's Patreon, and to top it all off, it's another with original lyrics in it! I was looking up the lyrics after I had watched Geoff's cover, and I was like "wait, this doesn't have a chorus? But Geoff's definitely had a chorus, right?" and then I rewatched Geoff's video on my laptop while having the original lyrics up on my phone and was like "yeah hang on a minute!" (He didn't even confirm it for us Patrons! Just left it for us to figure out before the public premiere!)
Usually I'm partial to interesting visual/video stuff, but the song arrangement of this alone was so dang good that I was like "dang does this overtake Unshaken as my favourite Geoff release of the year?" Ultimately I determined that Unshaken was my favourite video, and Big Iron was my favourite song. (Also I found it amusing/interesting how the narrative of this song actually had a fair bit of similarities to Geoff's previous cover of YDMAWJ, and so I made a comparison post thing, which you can find HERE)
Favourite music moment: I love the way he turned one of the verses into a sort of bridge section (the "wasn't long before the story was relayed to Texas Red..." bit up to the "twenty-one would be the ranger with a big iron on his hip" line), but I really love the line "riding hell for leather, midnight to the dawn...", both because it's a very cool Geoff Original lyric, and also because of the harmonised vocal run thing on the word 'dawn'!
Favourite visual moment: Not a lot of "action" to pick out of this one, but I will give kudos to the attention to detail of Lead Geoff having just his watch on his left wrist and then a thin leather bracelet thing on the right wrist, while the Clones are wearing both of those things on their left wrists, while having additional different leather bracelet things on their right wrists! Just a nice little touch of differentiation!
Imagine - released August 9th
Y'know in late July I literally made a post being like "man I love it when Geoff plays the piano!" and I half-joked about making a photo compilation of all the times he's played piano in videos (and a couple of y'all were like "yes do it") and then like only a few days later he posted a teaser image for his next video, featuring him playing piano!!!
I know there are people with Strong Feelings about this song (as Geoff said in his video description), whether positive or negative, but personally I'm more or less neutral on the original, so I was certainly going in open-minded to this, and man Geoff never disappoints! This definitely left me with a massive smile on my face, and if you wanna see the initial thoughts I had about the song/video, you can find them HERE!
Favourite music moment: the sudden switch to layered vocals and a "higher energy" performance was amazing, and there was some fantastic belting in this, too!
Favourite visual moment: when Geoff sings "imagine all the people, sharing all the world, you...", I love the hand/arm lifting motion he does on the word "you", like he's really getting into it and connecting with the performance! Oh and also on the final "and the world will be as one" at the end of the video, right at the start of that line there's a brief moment where he actually looks directly at the camera (or at least seems to), and honestly I feel like it adds just that little extra bit of impact.
Song Of Durin - released September 22nd
Talk about a song that I really didn't expect to love so dang much!
Like okay, of course I knew I would enjoy the song/video - it's Geoff, after all, but like I'm not a Tolkien fan! (Not that I dislike the Middle Earth stuff, I just haven't read any of the books or seen any of the films). And this one doesn't necessarily have any one particular "thing" that I can point to and be like "yes that's the reason I love this", it's just really good as whole, and somehow it managed to sink its claws into me and kept pulling me back to it again and agin!
When I did my initial thoughts/commentary post for this (LINK), I was like "I'm not sure if this beats I See Fire for me or whether it's just equal", but I did finally decide that this one does, in fact, beat I See Fire for me! (Though all the "dwarf songs" are great in their own ways of course.) But whether it beats Big Iron? Honestly I haven't even bothered comparing them. But this has become a comfort/relaxation song for me and I love it. (And apparently so do a lot of other folk, as it became Geoff's first cover of 2024 to hit a million views! Let's go!)
(Also here's a link to a comparison post for Fili, Kili, Bofur, and Thorin across the 3 Geoff videos they've been in, and here's another link to the Voiceplay-Adjacent Visuals I did for this video!)
Favourite music moment: When Bofur sings "but still the sunken stars appear, in dark and windless Mirrormere" in that high voice like dang that's so pretty! (But also I kinda just wanna say "all of it")
Favourite visual moment: The decision to have Fili, Thorin, Kili, and Bofur be ghosts/spectres/spirits was quite clever from a narrative perspective, as they lived many many years before Gimli (lead singer here), with The Hobbit being a prequel to The Lord Of The Rings and all. And Eli always does a fantastic job with lighting design, whether for VoicePlay or whether he's helping Geoff, but man I definitely loved all the lighting choices here!
Carol Of The Bells - released December 6th
I had a few ideas/hopes/predictions about what Geoff might do for his Christmas video this year, but I never would have even considered putting this song on my predictions list! Just like often with Geoff (and VoicePlay), it's a cover I didn't know I needed in my life until I got it! Goddang!
This is basically the spiritual successor to Geoff's cover of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and I LOVE IT! If you missed my recent thoughts/commentary about the cover, you can find that HERE, but basically from that first piano note I was intrigued, and then from that "merry ChristMAAAAAA..." my jaw dropped and basically stayed dropped the whole way through.
Favourite music moment: I mean like that 14-second subharmonic thing with the distortion and the backing vocals like hello? And apparently it's not even a single held note, but a movement going G1-Eb1-F1-D1? Dang! And then very quickly afterwards we get the most gorgeous "throw cares awayyyy" tenor line, like come on my dude!
Favourite visual moment: Can't go wrong with a bit of a camera shake effect for ground-quaking low notes! But also I love how that final bell sound right at the end is perfectly timed to the appearance of the gramophone logo! Chefs kiss!
And that's my summary done for Geoff's channel! My VoicePlay 2024 recap will be coming the day after tomorrow, and it's going to be an even longer post than this! (Y'know, since they ended up with 11 full-length releases this year compared to Geoff's 7). See y'all soon!

I've yet again descended into the rabbithole I'd playing all 3 dark souls games and then obsessively watching a ton of videos and reading a ton of Reddit threads about dark souls. And man, DS2 slander really pisses me off. DS2 is my overall favorite dark souls game because it's unique. Even if it has a lot of gameplay flaws, atleast they actually tried something new. DS3 basically just took Bloodborne combat, took all the cool parts like healing and damaging limbs and then put it into dark souls. Giving us infinite stamina and making combat more reaction based turned combat from the slow methodical combat of DS1 and DS2 into a generic hack-n-slash spam R1 and panicroll through 99% of the bosses deal. And I fucking hate that everyone just ate it up and signaled to Fromsoftware to lean into it even more in Elden Ring.
And while DS3 might be a better game in terms of gameplay, if only because it's just a much more modern game and DS2 really did fuck up with ADP and making combat animations too floay, in terms of lore it's literally just repeating the lore about the cycles form DS2 with a bunch of DS1 fanservice, it doesn't actually add anything new. You can play DS1, then DS2 with DLCs and then immediately jump in Painted World and Ringed City DLCs without playing base DS3 and you won't actually miss any major lore, it's insane how little new stuff base DS3 brings to the table. And the way they did references to DS1 is absolutely fanservice, Its actually wild how the B team without Miazaki actually stayed more true to dark souls storytelling then the fucking A team with Miazaki. DS2 actually had a ton of references to DS1 despite all the mouthbreathers on the internet saying DS2 basically only connected to the franchise through its name. It just did those references in the same way DS1 told it's story - through scraps of info hidden in item descriptions and throwaway dialogue lines from npcs. DS3 on the other hand just literally hits you over the head every 15 minutes with blatant DS1 references. For fucks sake, one of the first NPCs you meet in the game is the damn Andre.
Overall, DS3 is only saved by the DLCs. Without them it would have been just rehash of DS2s story with bloodbornified combat and a bunch of DS1 fanservice. Which makes for a great game, don't get me wrong, but it's a shame they didn't do something new and unique for the last game in the series. The DLCs saved the game for me, even if I'm kinda pissed they spent the whole game to retelling the lore from DS2 and then ended the whole series in a damn dlc.

When Goro Akechi finds a loving home, friends, found family, and a sense of belonging in the sleepy town of Inaba, he is no longer suited to play the part of the Grail's champion years later... How fortunate, then, that there is a man with great power burning inside and a desire to reshape the world. To remove all of life's problems and scrub away all the pain. There will be no mental shutdowns. No psychotic breakdowns. Instead, fate takes a... different turn, but one just as dire. - Rough concept art for Metaverse Maruki for my Persona 4 + Akechi AU. The P5 fic is a ways off, but we have a lot of fun stuff planned! In the mean time, you can read the currently ongoing fic here. I'll probably refine this later and add color and stuff at some point. Basic idea is he has golden armor. In the Metaverse, he renders his voice unrecognizable with his actualization. His words can be heard, but his voice cannot properly be perceived, and it's very unsettling. Maruki is one of our favorite aspects of P5 in this AU. A lot happens with him. (Shoutout to TheGingerHeed for suggesting Maruki as Yaldy's replacement champion. It led us down a rabbithole of angst and sad snacks.)

so ah. i was not productive at all today its like 10:21 am so there is still hope but GUESS WHAT ELSE I DID????
so basically i posted a translation of a ukrainian poem and now i have a new project where I will be becoming closer to ukrainian by translating poetry you should go look at that post I am quite proud of it Нічого такого не сталось – @jerry-the-leech on Tumblr and i will be continuing to do that because it was fun and also i might do some poems in spanish becasue I am learning it and it would be fun
but mainly ukrainian for now
Also currently i am looking at this thing called "culture bound syndrome" It's basically behairvoral phenomena are particular to a certain culture because of the history associated with it
I got down this rabbithole by researching what a wendigo was they are super cool I might write a story about them
So basically an example of culture bound syndrome is "susto", found in central and latin American cultures:
Susto (Latin America): Marked lethargy, anxiety, and somatic complainant symptom; it is thought to arise after a sudden fright or traumatic occurrence.
Cultural Context: In the same way, it is believed that for the indigenous people in Mexico and Central America, susto is the leaving of the soul from the body and, thus, requires soul healing.
(overview from Culture-bound Syndrome )
Susto comes from the word "asustar" which means to surprise. It basically meant you had like an encounter with the spiritual world, or something disturbing, or something else, and now you're panicking and all that stuff.
And the reason its sorta called that is because in a lot of more rural regions of latin America people don't go to the doctor a lot (like only in life threatening situations or broken bones) so they used to have to go like the shaman or the mujera sabie (wise woman)
Also a lot of these superstitions are influenced by catholicism in the latin americas, so there was "susto" and "envidia" (envidia is like the evil eye someone gave when they were jealous) and that's super interesting.
"Susto may be a culturally dependent variation of the symptoms of a panic attack, which is distinct from anxiety and depressive disorders." (Wikipedia) (yes I know I know)
so its a lot of similar symptoms to a panic attack, but culturally bound to latin America, specifically indigenous nations.
"Treatments among indigenous people are natural. Some natural treatments to susto consist of using plants as medicine; sweating out the toxins; and massaging to encourage blood flow. Prayer is a big part of the treatment of susto. In addition to prayer, healing rituals are also used, some of which include sweeping and giving gifts." (Wikipedia)
Susto has a lot of overlap with other existing disorders and symptoms, but like many culturally bound syndromes stuff, they are particular in history and happen in specific cultures
"Three syndromic subtypes of susto show a symptomatic overlap with depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and somatic disorder.
However, linguistic metaphors describing symptoms and perceived causes that are specific for Latin American culture support the concept of susto as a specific idiom of distress (e.g., loss of soul, shadow or ajayu; sunken, closed or white eyes; jumping and screaming in the night; being thrown to the ground).
In addition, if diagnostic criteria are met for mental disorders, then susto describes a perceived cause of psychopathological states (e.g., depressive disorder, PTSD, somatic disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder).
Future research with people who have experienced susto is needed to clarify whether susto precedes the onset of other mental disorders (perceived cause) or whether it is a way of designating distress (idiom of distress)." national library of medicine Susto as a cultural conceptualization of distress: Existing research and aspects to consider for future investigations - PMC
Basically, susto does have a lot of overlap with existing mental states but it can also be a cause of them. So people are still researching
and the class is ending so i gtg I'm gonna send you more later
how are you lovely lovely?
(sorry this ended up being long. Sources:
Culture-bound Syndrome
Susto - Wikipedia (*sighs* yes i realize but im gonna check their references later and they looked reliable at first glance and then I'm gonna read them too)

thank you for litneing lmao
woah
that's really cool tbh
also you ate on that poem translation
I'm not gonna respond to everything but that's really interesting. I can't think of anything else to say besides it's interesting help
but like that really is something cool to look into
help I'm being so dry rn
also girl I don't give a fuck if you used wikipedia. I fucking love wikipedia. If I'm just looking into smth for myself I'm gonna use wikipedia
I'm good! My friend is gonna start making youtube videos and I'm gonna edit them or some of it so that's cool
erm not much has really changed since last time we talked
how are you?
#lovely talks#also I find it funny that you sent me that other ask as I was actively typing out my response to this one lol
