And I can’t let you go~ Batjokes drabble

Joker's nails press into the hard leather of Batman's boot, tightly gripping his feet and cape. He was breathing heavily. He was hurt and bloody, they both were. Joker couldn’t even lift his head up to look at anything but the bat's boots and his own blood mixing with the rainwater and seeping into the concrete.

Batman stared down at the clown clinging to him.

His fingers continued to dig into Batman's boots as if holding on for dear life. It was as if Joker's very existence depended on clinging to Batman. Like the Dark Knight was his lifeline. The blood on him and the ragged breaths escaping his lips revealed the physical toll their intense battle had taken on him. Every labored breath was a reminder of the pain, yet he found solace in the proximity of his bat.

The sight was both unsettling and poignant. Going on far too long. Everything they had done brought them to this moment, where Joker, in his weakened state, found solace in clinging to the very person he had just been trying to kill. It was a paradoxical display of dependence and defiance as if Joker's survival hinged on his ability to hold on to Batman.

His grip was leaving imprints on the Bat’s boots. The weight of their history seemed to bear down on them, the culmination of countless battles and encounters. Usually, when the fight was over, that was the end of it. The Bat would cart him off to Arkham or hand him off to the police.

This may have been the first quiet moment they had together like this. The only sound was Joker’s ragged breathing and the rain.

The air was heavy with the tension between them. There was this unspoken understanding, the only reason Batman hesitated to kick the clown off. Joker's grip on Batman was not just physical, but emotional. It was as if he clung to the Dark Knight to anchor him here with him. It was a desperate grasp at stability, a fragile thread that kept them both from spiraling.

And so there they were, locked in this macabre embrace, the hero and the villain bound together by the fragile threads of their damaged minds and damaged bodies. Joker's grip was unyielding as if he couldn't bear to let go.

And the bat let him.

“I knew you’d eventually fall for me, Batsy!”

Those were the last words Batman heard before he was pushed over the edge of the roof. Batman scowled, mentally calculating the height of his fall and bracing himself for impact with the ground. It will be brutal, but his suit was designed to withstand the force.

He landed soundlessly on an inflatable cushion. At least, that's what he initially believed, until he turned to look at the wide blue eyes of a bespectacled man who was cradling his 250-pound frame, suited up, in his arms like Batman was his newlywed bride.

"I apologize!" The man offered hastily. "I moved on instinct. I was reaching for the... lobster dish," he finished lamely. Batman stared incredulously at him, then glanced at the table of the outdoor restaurant beneath them with a plate of perfectly prepared, uncrushed lobster on it.

“Who are you, and what are you doing here? Are you working for the Joker?” Batman demanded.

“No! I just came here for lunch, I swear!” The man pleaded.

Batman scrutinized his face. He had seen this man before...“Clark Kent?”

The man lowered him to his feet. “You know what? I just remembered that I’m allergic to lobsters. I think I’m breaking out in hives. I really need to go, bye Batman!” He scrambled off the table and ran out of the restaurant.

Like hell Batman was going to let a metahuman reporter wander around Gotham without knowing his intentions. “Stop right there Kent!” he yelled, ignoring the Joker's furious protests from above.

I've posted for A Court of Thorns and Roses, The Social Network, Steven Universe, Hunger Games: A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, It (Chapter 2 mostly), Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Dead Poets Society. Right now I pretty much only actively write for ACOTAR but I am susceptible to being pulled into other directions (I've had an idea for a fic for Nope that I started jotting down, I'm pretty into Batjokes so I kinda wanna write for them at some point, stuff like that)

5. Do you respond to comments?

Absolutely. I don't think there's a single instance where I haven't responded to a comment. They feed my passion and my greedy soul and the rush of serotonin and dopamine and other happy chemicals when I see that I have something in my inbox is genuinely unparalleled.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

It was more of a character study drabble, but probably "The Death of Neil Perry, Actor and Honorary Member of the Dead Poets Society". It was the first thing I ever published to ao3 actually, and it's literally just what's on the ticket. "the price of knowing your love" is an arguable contender though.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Any of my (actually complete) It Chapter 2 fics probably. They're almost all fix-its, and some of them are literally just like fluffy PWP.

8. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do! Mostly mlm, as that's what most of the ships I write for are anyway, but I have written one threesome ("The Solution"), and I wouldn't be opposed to other kinds of pairings. Overall my smut is fairly vanilla, I don't get too adventurous with it. This can lead to it feeling kind of repetitive (to me) but I enjoy reading it and implementing it in my works, so I don't really care too much that I'm a little bit of a smut one trick pony.

9. Do you write crossovers?

Nope! I've thought about it though. I came up with this whole elaborate crossover between ACOTAR and The Boys. But like, idk if it could be considered a crossover cause it didn't actually have any characters from the boys, it was more like what if all the characters in ACOTAR were in The Boys universe, and all the characters in The Boys were just. Not. Idk if that would count as a crossover. But I digress.

10. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope.

11. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Also nope.

12. What is your all-time favorite ship?

I mean I feel like I have to say Richie/Eddie of It fame. I was just so dedicated to them for so long and have written so. much. for reddie that it would feel wrong not to put them. Plus like theyre just one of thee iconic gay ships at this point like it's very easy to have them in the top slot. I'm also big into mark/Eduardo from the social network (SPECIFICALLY) and Tamlin/Rhysand of ACOTAR

13. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I have a ton of abandoned reddie fics, some of which I actually started posting before finishing (yeesh). I also have a markwardo apocalypse au fic that I actually really do want to finish, but im just so entrenched in ACOTAR that idk if I'll ever get around to it. I REALLY wanna finish my TBOSAS fic and I am actually determined to get around to it at some point, but who's to say.

14. What are your writing strengths?

Woof. I'd say dialogue, emotion heavy scenes, introspection, and character chemistry.

15. What are your writing weaknesses?

I am a chronic yapper, so like not enough editing, weird pacing, that sort of thing. I unfortunately do a lot of telling where I should be doing more showing. I also am not too great with humor, which is fascinating to me because I LOVE humor, like I love watching standup comedy, I love hanging out with funny people, I love cracking jokes, but I just can't really think of anything actually funny to write oftentimes. And even if I do, I don't always know how to fit it into a scene. Another thing is, plot. I often don't really write things with real plot. I'm not too creative when it comes to coming up with original ideas and scenarios to put the characters in, so a lot of my work ends up being more character driven than actually plot driven. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but I wish I could be comfortable with both, not just the character analysis-y stuff.

16. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I've never really done it so I've never really thought about it! I sometimes like when a fic has something that I have to look up or translate, but I don't like actively seek fics with other language content, as I really only speak English.

17. First fandom you wrote for?

If we're talking what's on AO3, technically The Dead Poets Society. But if we're talking first fic ever written, I suppose I could consider the self insert Percy Jackson story I started writing in fifth grade (before I even knew what fanfiction really was).

18. Favorite fic you've written?

I'd say right now it's "Colors in a Dead Garden." I just dedicated so much time and effort to it and I ended up really happy with the results. I think it really shows a lot of my progress as a writer and it just felt so much more meaty and like layered than other fics I've written.

5. Do you respond to comments? Always! My readers made the effort to comment on my fic, so I will absolutely respond with the utmost enthusiasm. It means the world to me when I get comments.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Oh, it's absolutely Wildflowers. I mean, it's canon ending so does it really count?

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I think most of them have happy endings, especially the oneshots. If they're not happy, they're some kind of tender, or sweet. I do think Regrets has the most upbeat ending.

8. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes. More and more lately. I would say I write the kind of smut that makes you question yourself (and I haven't even dived into the kinkiest kinks). Are you confused? Yes. Do you know what happened? No. Do I know what happened? No. Were we all entertained? HELL YES.

9. Do you write crossovers? I didn't name my blog home of the crackships for nothing. I LOVE crossovers. I have a few on my AO3, but so many on my to-write list.

10. Have you ever had a fic translated? No.

11. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Nope! Not formally. I do roleplay with a partner. I tried to re-write one of ours as a fic, but it's soooo tricky.

12. What is your all-time favorite ship? SUPERBATS SUPERBATS SUPERBATS. At least, if we're talking something that has a fandom. If we're talking my fav ships forreal, it's Lambert x Gojo Satoru x Clark Kent, Orm Marius x Clark Kent x Bruce Wayne, Barry Allen x Hal Jordan x Komand'r, Lilith x Eskel, etc.

13. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? None that I know of. I usually circle back and/or can be swayed to finish one.

14. What are your writing strengths?

Details. I think I have a few. I get weird fixated on details that I think make the writing feel more 'lived in' and immersive.

Side characters. I think I'm very good at creating intriguing side characters that you'll get attached to. My trick is that the character is fully developed with their own story before they appear on my page. How else will I get their interactions down, even if it's for a chapter and they're never seen again?

Humour. I literally cannot be serious. I have to shitpost halfway through my story.

15. What are your writing weaknesses?  

Pacing. I am impatient, I wanna get to the juicy parts, but some stories need to cook a little before getting to the fun stuff. I tend to use the excuse that since it's fanfiction, I can #yolo and post.

I cannot write something short for the life of me. Everything needs to end up being multi-chapter, I'm TIRED.

Smut. It's not raw enough. It's not filthy enough. I need to let go and be less formal about it. Just dig right in and have a meatier writing. I just don't think my current style fits pure smut. It does fit trying to fuck an eldritch horror and soul-shattering orgasms tho 😂 But sometimes, I just wanna go to pound town, not achieve self-actualization through butt stuff, you know???

16. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I have some foreign words in my Illyrian fic, and I am fluent in french. I do hate seeing other people write dialogue in different languages SPECIFICALLY FRENCH, so I won't be doing that.

17. First fandom you wrote for? A Court of Thorns and Roses.

18. Favorite fic you’ve written? I have different favourite ones for different reasons.

I like cosmic bloom because it's unhinged smut.

I like Regrets because it's my first ever Superbats fic and got so many kudos!

I like Wildflowers because it's my first story I ever wrote from start to finish.

I like Needle & King because it's healing a lot of trauma to write it, and I get to discover my identity and explore lore/worldbuilding that I've been putting off for ages.

Just Their Nature

I wrote this little drabble based on a situation that happened to me yesterday and triggered my PTSD. I thought venting through writing by traumatizing little twelve year old Bruce was the best way to go about it. Please look at the tags and warnings first before reading.

he found him not underneath all the rubble but a few ways away from it, bleeding and bruised way more than usual. the assaults on his person were more than he could take, and they both know this.

hes struggling to get somewhere, that much is certain from what harvey is seeing. sighing, he steps out of the shadows and walk towards the bat; he makes sure that batman sees him so as to not be surprised. he is not here to fight, he has put all of that behind him years ago.

regardless, batman tenses as harvey stands before him. "you are a stubborn idiot, you know that?" harvey says in lieu of a simple greeting—they are beyond that now, have always been—and goes to his side, loops the right arm around his shoulder to support him. "what are you doing," it was less of a question and more of a demand from batman and harvey doesnt bother hiding the eye roll.

"i—we—are helping you. believe it or not, we havent done anything close to villainous in a.. oh, a year now." he isn't lying; neither he nor two face had done anything wrong after getting out of arkham asylum, and all of the system had agreed on helping batman as much as they can in any possible way. "you helped us so many times, let us return the favour," if any fondness and gratitude had seeped out of him with that, batman was kind enough not to say anything about it.

and with that, they began walking towards where the batmobile is parked. they did not speak the rest of the way, the silence only broken by batman's ragged breathing that he tries to hide.

it hurts harvey, seeing him like this. he may not remember everything that happened between them—two-face, on the other hand, does seeing as how he is the one in the front whenever batman appears, but harvey still knows of the pain batman goes through because he had seen it before, a few times, when it was him instead of two-face that fronts. he had seen it before because he was the one who inflicted the wounds.

well, look at him now, helping someone who (believed in him, helped him, saved him) stopped him and his schemes time and again.

they finally arrived to where the car is and batman stepped away from him and towards it, "I can take it from here," he says, not ungratefully. harvey watches as the door opens and he gets inside the car, the engine revs as it comes to life but the car doesnt move just yet. just as harvey was turning away the window opens a little and batman's voice calls out to him, stopping him: "thank you."

it's such a simple thing and yet it catches harvey by surprise, rooting him in the middle of a dark alley, and before he can say anything in reply—and what is there to say, really—the batmobile drives away.

Guess I will save your lives with this that I consider something temporary. I have been reading a lot about the Valeska’s Twins and Bruce that really makes me happy the small fact there’s still people out there contributing even with the most simple thing to this kinda dead Fandom. ✨
