Drakengard cut content: items!!! boss battles!!!! sidequests!!!! different enemy designs!!!! deleted scenes and enemies!!!!!
Drakengard 2 cut content: So since you know about the cut-out hackable rape story weapon and that we were going to include a scene of caim killing verdelet with stills still in the game, lemme tell you something else: we wanted all your allies to battle at the same time as you but that was too much strain given to budget so we axed it. We also wanted something like a dating sim where you got different endings depending on the choices you made but then realized we couldn't really implement that. There were plans to make it open world, but eh, we didn't really go there either. The Unknown WERE going to shapeshift into your allies/characters from the first game, but you know what? nuh-uh. we thought about putting them in there in general but we didn't do that either lmao get absolutely FUCKED
Drakengard 3 cut content: what if our characters looked good

more s2:remake thoughts:
don't like how they approached eddie. don't care for his voice (or any of the voices really). I don't like how it's apparent there's something wrong with eddie from the get-go when in the original, it's not so obvious. he initially appears as a sensitive and very much bulled individual but you wouldn't think he'd hurt anyone. he's scared and he's open about it.
that's what makes it more shocking in the boss fight when you meet him for the last time that he's snapped. he openly admits to you he shot someone in the knee and took joy in shooting the person's dog. also the way David delivers "and a corpse can't laugh" gave me fucking chills. The VAing in original Silent Hill can be really corny but delivery was SO GOOD.
I did not get that in the remake. Eddie just being angry and trying to emphasize his point by shooting between words isn't as impactful.
I also cannot stand how drawn out everything is in the remake. It feels bloated and unnecessary, it doesn't add anything, it just makes it feel longer.

i just want to understand dusk's thought process a bit with the aeon thing. so by speculating re9 will have aeon in it bc re2r and re4r are recent titles with aeon, he is essentially saying re9 is being developed with those two games in mind plot-wise, even tho it started development way before re4r?? which also means re9 is now canon to the remake timeline? 😭
he's selection and confirmation bias-ing himself like crazy, based on him hearing that division 1 internally thinks of RE2make -> RE4make -> RE9 as a trilogy -- and he's misunderstanding how video game developers/publishers define and use the word "trilogy."
a video game trilogy is not the same as a film trilogy or a book trilogy. film and book trilogies are entirely story-based -- because they have to be, because the story is the only way that the audience interacts with the medium. but games are different by function and design.
there are a lot of really famous video game trilogies that are not three-part sequential stories like you would find in movies are books -- they're tied together by something different.
uncharted 1-3 is considered a trilogy. you do not have to play uncharted 2 to understand the story of uncharted 3. you do not have to play uncharted 1 to understand the story of uncharted 2. you do not have to play any of them to understand any of the others. but they're considered a trilogy because they are three games in the same series that were developed and released for the same console, and they're all titles that follow the same main character and use and improve on the same set of gameplay mechanics. yes, uncharted 4 exists, and other uncharted spinoff games exist, but they're not part of the uncharted trilogy -- only the numbered PS3 games are.
bioshock 1, 2, and infinite are considered a trilogy -- and they don't even follow the same main character through each title. but they're a trilogy because they all exist in the same world, and the stories all tackle the same themes, and the base gameplay mechanics stay intact while getting improved upon (instead of completely overhauled) every time.
the dark souls games are considered a trilogy. they also do not follow the same main character. they don't even take place in the same eras in the world's history. but it's the same thing as bioshock. same world, same themes, same mechanics that get improved on. when someone picks up a dark souls game, they know what they're getting. any of the titles is just more of what they already know and like.
silent hill 1-3 is considered a trilogy, even though silent hill 2 exists completely on its own story-wise, utterly divorced from anything that happened in 1 or 3. but they were all developed by the same team with a shared vision, and they all take place in the same setting, and the gameplay mechanics all stay the same, and the atmosphere is held the same over every title, and the storytelling technique and tropes all stay the same. they're their own self-contained thing within the broader series of silent hill.
i mean, i could go on and on and on with examples like this.
so when DG hears that 4make, 2make, and 9 are being considered internally as a trilogy, in his brain he's trying to think of what connects all three of them -- and he's coming up with the wrong conclusion. he's like "oh, it must be leon and ada, they're the common denominators, so clearly RE9 must be the conclusion of leon and ada's shared arc."
but... is that really what division 1 is thinking in saying that?
or is it the case that, because RE2make, RE4make, and RE9 all started their development around the same time, division 1 is looking at this purely from a developmental and gameplay perspective? if RE2make was division 1's proof of concept for what the RE engine could do in terms of gameplay quality of life and combat mechanics, and if RE4make was considered a milestone in the improvement of those features, then maybe it's the case that they see RE9 as the ultimate delivery of the promises made by RE2make and RE4make's gameplay.
the fact that leon happens to be the main playable character of all three might just be a fluke. because what DG said was that capcom internally thinks of these games as a trilogy -- which means that they're not marketing them that way, just that that's their perspective on how the products ended up working out.
i don't think anyone should be expecting RE9 to be a direct sequel, story-wise, to RE4make. that's actual crazy talk.
but a direct sequel gameplay-wise? yeah, that seems not only reasonable, but kind of likely.
tl;dr DG is thinking like a fan instead of thinking like a developer.

Played the ib remake heres some food 4 thot
Garry has transmasc swag. But i am open to other interpretations
I almost felt sorry for Mary but on my 2nd run i did all the endings and the together forever ending still makes me feel all the rage and discontempt as it made me feel 10 yrs ago
THE FACT THAT WHEN YOU FIRST MEET HER SHE SAYS THAT RED IS HER FAVORITE AND BLUE IS OKAY AND THEN SHE SUDDENLY HAS BLUE AS HER FAVORITE JUST TO GET GARRY'S ROSE GRRRRR
When i got to the true gallery it clicked that Garry vs Mary was supposed to be a difficult choice for the player so now im a bit dissappointed abt the fact that Mary is such a cunt in her ending and that garry is 100x more favoured by the narrative and i wish it could have gone further w the concept
In the 2012 game when something important happened or there was a cutscene the caracter party would separate to show their individual sprites and the remake doesnt do that??? Which is very weird honestly why wouldnt they do that
I still love u garry. My first anime crush....
Ib's dad is not hot anymore 💔
Honestly?? Beyond the direct support for the team + graphics overhaul, you're good playing the 2012 version honestly. If you want a diff experience with the puzzles and the chance for a whole lot more garry dialogue then play this one. But i have to say im a bit dissappointed
Not a lot bc the base game is still awesome and i love it but with the other remakes it felt very different??? Like witchs house is fun and i always love to replay it and adds a bit more lore from the ellen novels and the Sen games are the best remakes so far with better graphics, fun gameplay and completely new puzzles + the death counter for Misao so this one left me a bit empty
I hope more rpg maker remakes come soon!! I love replaying these and the more the merrier
Side note bc im never touching the topic again: the mermaid swamp remake is cool bc ooo shiny new graphics but im not a fan of the characters not having portraits (i feel like thats intentional for the atmosphere but i also really wanted some new art for rin and seitaro) and also??? The ending Cg???? Theyre better but they lack the grainyness of the og, except for the rin crying one that one was such a downgrade
ALSO URI WHY WOULD YOU POST THE SEITARO DEATH CG AND SAY YOU REGRET NOT PUTTING IT IN THE GAME BC YOU FORGOT AND THEN NOT PUT IT IN THE REMAKE AAAAA

What is your favorite Resident Evil? :D (or if you can't choose one, do you have a ranking of faves or so?)
hiii so I have played all the mainline games (0, 1, 1 remake, 2, 2 remake, 3, 3 remake, code veronica x, 4, 4 remake, 5, 6, 7, and village. started the revelations games but haven’t finished) and I think the best game is the resident evil 1 remake! I have it on my switch, gamecube, and laptop. it’s SO atmospheric- love the soundtrack and the graphics are still so amazing today. the spencer mansion is just so iconic, I like the way that the story plays out, and it has my fav appearances for jill, chris, and wesker…. however it is not my most played game (as in the most hours spent), that would go to the re4 remake probably. I really like its version of the mercenaries. I also played it right when I got a gaming laptop last year and my first playthrough was on hardcore bc I was like. I’ve played the original and all the modern games…. it beat my ass especially since I got a ps5 controller and used the nintendo button layout so the button prompts in the game were inaccurate to my controller configuration on top of me getting used to using a ps controller lol. wbu?

How's bout 8, 9, 14, and 27 for the video game asks?
Coming right up! o7
8. A series you haven’t played but are interested in trying
Monster Hunter ;) you are tempting me with those dragons lol
I would say Dark Souls as well but I have technically started that, I just haven’t played in a while and am still sitting in the Firelink Shrine
9. A game you played completely blind with no prior knowledge of and enjoyed/loved
So I haven’t technically played this yet because I found it when I didn’t have a pc yet and I tend to watch playthroughs more than play games because it takes a frankly insane amount of energy for me to turn on my computer and open steam. But I’m counting it. A Plague Tale was such an amazing game that absolutely ripped my heart out and showed it to me tauntingly. Doomed siblings in a medieval dark fantasy setting my beloved
14. A song that’s sure to hit your nostalgia buttons
Oooughhhh there’s so many…which to choose……pretty much any song from any of the (older) Zelda games I’ve played will do it tbh. Especially the more famous oot songs. Gerudo Valley my beloved
Also even though it’s a newer series and thus less worthy of the nostalgia descriptor—Midgar City of Mako (the Remake intro song) gives me CHILLS at that moment the music spikes and the meteor appears on the title. Every goddamn time. I can feel the force of the hyperfixation slam into me like Sephiroth has just wound up his whole 2 minute cutscene attack at me
27. A game you love the atmosphere of
Hrghhhf so manyyyyy I hate choicessssss…all of the games I’ve mentioned already absolutely. I’ll pick one that I like the atmosphere of but don’t really play much bc the other aspects don’t appeal to me as much.
Sea of Thieves. Loooove the pirate vibes and the art style and the general feel of the world. Was on cloud nine when they partnered with potc for a few quest things. I spend like at least an hour playing on Davy Jones’ organ during that. Almost never play it tho bc a) I have no friends (who have it lmao) and b) pvp isn’t really my thing, I prefer story and really would be content to just go around doing the potc quests over and over again (which if you want. Hit me up I will be an insufferable nerd the whole time constantly geeking out because potc is one of my favorite things ever)

So, I watched the Live Action Snow White. And I have some thoughts. I know it's a joke that Snow White isn't anyone's favorite Disney Movie but I genuinely do love it. She's a very cool princess! I love how kind she is to everyone and she is very resilient. I think it's a really good fun fairytale movie and it actually gives me Brothers Grimm Vibes. I also love it for how pioneering it is for traditional animation and to this day it's still an absolutely beautiful film. Her story is a quintessential fairytale, there are so many versions of it throughout the world.
The Original Snow White is top tier. Like I said, it genuinely has Grimms Fairytale Vibes (their more tame stories but still) and the artistry is stunning.
There's like this sequence where they animate the water rippling in the well which is still insane. The forest sequence is genuinely still unnerving and I love how dynamic and atmospheric it is.
And "With a Smile and a Song" is in a perfect place to "recover" and it's a lovely song. There's a lot of fun, small witty moments I forgot such as when Snow White Kisses a Dove and sends it to the Prince, and the dove, landing on the Prince's hand, is all shy and bashful, blushes and "kisses" him. There's a lot of small moments like that with the animation of the animals, such as when they're unraveling a spiderweb and the spider comes out. The Dwarves are so fun in this version! They don't look like uncanny valley entities.
The way the Evil Queen makes the potion is so much more fun and better in this one bc we get little vignettes of each ingredient that are animated and have sound effects, plus we see it all coming together. And, in the OG - the Evil Queen is so much better than the LA, her voice and mannerisms are just so much more fluid and lively. Gal Godot's acting here is so wooden, stiff, bad and uninteresting. I also forgot how much of a part music played, it's almost like a secondary dialogue? Or the Narrator? The music integration in the original is well done and smooth.
I love the way that the poison apple is made in the animated one it's like dipped into a poison and bubbles and gets a skull symbol then it fades and becomes a beautiful Apple. In the LA Gal Godot just pulls it out of a box -_-
The Pie she makes in the animated one continues to be one of the most delicious looking foods ever animated.
The Live action is just missing a lot of those special moments, like with the apple I mentioned. In the LA, Why is there no glass coffin? Thats so sad. There's barely any whimsical and fairytale elements She's just lying dead on a slab of rock.
Also in the LA, I feel like they kinda misconstrued the Evil Queens Motivations - it's Power through Beauty and not Vanity She's using her beauty to specifically obtain power and wealth Not using her power and wealth to enhance her beauty. But it is supposed to be a remake so whatever.
The first song is quite nice? Like of course it is a Disney movie but it does well in establishing character motivations, and her (Snow's starting point) Rachel Zegler is quite beautiful but that awful hairstyle is so bad. It's so bad and not even close to the original and I don't understand why they made any decision for that at all. They try to insinuate that the Queen inflicted that hairstyle on her to purposely make her ugly but that's just feels like a weak afterthought after the criticism they received. Especially because she keeps the hairstyle at the end after the Evil Queen is gone. Hell, they could have legit just had the same haircut and not slicked it down to all hell so it doesn't look like lord farquad and instead just looks like a choppy rough haircut a child whose abusive stepmother cuts her hair out of spite and then ignores/neglects her would have.
Like for Waiting on a Wish I feel like it should be a bit later in the movie when she gets a little bit more brave and learns more about standing up to her abusive stepmother. Not just her belting out a song about how she's waiting to become her father's daughter and stand up to the Queen and be brave the FIRST MOMENT she shows a small bit of courage to try. The pacing is so off imo and as a whole it's not very engaging. I'm so sad about her dress for real ;; It looks like a cheap costume, and so does her wedding dress at the end. All of the costumes suffered from looking cheap and tacky, and the overall aesthetic/color palette of the film was garish.
Also!
Fuck Princess Problems that song is awful and should not fucking exist. I think it's completely mangled the heart of the story. It's an entire song mocking Snow White for being naive and stupid, and not having real problems.
The final resolution sucked. A little bit of good ideals but mostly awful and nonsensical. The cgi animals are not the best but they could be worse. There are some fun ideas and aspects, and the music is good (of course lol it's Disney) but it really doesn't feel like love or effort went into it. Rachel Zegler is hands down the best part about the movie, she is a very skilled singer and actress but everything else about the movie feels lazy and the movie itself is like garish and tacky. For instance - the locket was obviously designed to be merch and it didn't even look good as jewelry.
The live action - it's very saddening tbh. There are some aspects I can see that were done well and that I like, but overall it's just. Not very fun or fantastic/whimsical. Even if it wasn't to be compared to the original I think it's a bad movie overall. Not the worst, but it's not good. Rachel Zegler is by far the best part of the movie and she has DUST to work with, which sucks.
Anyway, if you haven't seen the animated one in a while I would definitely say to watch it again! It's a genuinely fun and lovely fairytale.

omg fellow horror mutual!!!
What are your top 3 horror movies?
aaaa this one is so difficult to answer bc honestly my "fav horror movies" list in itself has like 70 movies so choosing just 3 is so difficult. But
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) genuinely my fav movie of all time. I think it's the best horror film ever, the atmosphere is so good and scary. I adore this movie
Saw (2004) the yaoi is just that good. But genuinely there's something about this movie that I'm just obsessed with. The idea is terrifying and its executed so well. Saw in general is just such a unique movie imo, I love it
maybe Scream (1996)? Incredible movie and I love all the references. I think it's executed absolutely brilliantly!
Other favs that I do still wanna mention: Bride of Frankenstein, A Nightmare on Elm Street (the 1984 one not the remake), Friday the 13th part 2, I Saw the TV Glow, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, The Loved Ones, Boys in the Trees, Trick r Treat

i’m so glad i got to watch the original Nosferatu that was made almost a century ago before watching the remake bc it actually remained faithful to the old plot and atmosphere and honors the classic.
i have seen a handful of ppl complain ab the movie and judge the plot and claim it to be “too sexual”. i feel like it is meant to amplify tension between life, death, desire and danger.

SAM OMGGGGGGGG the new Until Dawn remake ending???? Our boy Joshua CONFIRMED alive???? I am bouncing off the WALLS I am howling at the MOON YESSSSSSSSSSSS. Pls if u are so inclined tell me ur thoughts about the UD remake overall, I saw you mention mixed feelings in the tags of your rb 👀 Also…. ancient UD fics u say? 👀 Color me intrigued sjdgshjds
FOR FUCKIN REAL 🗣📢🔊🔊🔊🔊WE'RE MAKING IT THRU THIS WINTER ON BLACKWOOD MOUNTAIN TRUST N BELIEVE
my thoughts are. very salty old man who yells @ cloud. I feel. but since u aaaaaaasked:
REALLY wish that this remake had JUST been a graphics overhaul (w/maybe. some deleted/extended scenes cut from the og game). bc I think it LOOKS absolutely gorgeous. like. it's clear that loads of work went into that facet of the remake & it's honestly v stunning. but..............that's kind of my problem. it feels very style over substance.
imo, there were a lot of extremely deliberate choices taken w/the original design/staging of UD. bc c'mon. it's supposed to be a playable horror movie. and in the pursuit of LOOKING "better", they ripped a LOT of that vibe out.
mini list of gripes:
the o' death intro has been removed. CRIMINAL OFFENSE
they switched the camera pov!!!!!!!!! gone are the atmospheric fixed angles that made it feel. u know. like a PLAYABLE horror film. it's typical triple-a over-the-shoulder now. which takes so much away from the tone in a way u don't quite realize until u look back @ the og
ost has been inexplicably rehauled?? and I really don't like it LMAO sjdhsfdhfjhfg I have NO idea why they felt like scrapping the original orchestral score
ofc. it's still UD and I still love it!! but I'll always love the original more LOL. I just................wish more gaming studios (and entertainment entities in general) would figure out that even the flashiest 5k ultra hd graphics will NEVER hold a candle to thoughtfully crafted atmosphere and tone. bc the FEEL of a story is what immerses u. not the glitz. and sometimes u don't have to reinvent the wheel..............bc u might lose what makes the wheel special in the first place.
—ANYWAYS. incoherent rant over!!!!!!!!!!!!

is the OG silent hill 2 still good compared to the remake or is the game just one of those ones that hasn't aged well?
sh2 is janky bc its a classic survival horror game but it definitely holds up, as long as you like or can tolerate the Genre the game is in. the remake has its good points, but it utterly fails to capture the original's tone and atmosphere, which still live rent free in the heads of everyone whos played it or even watched it in the last 20 years
here's how to play it on pc!

ok i wasn't going to make a post but i do have feelings about until dawn remake that didn't fit under the tags of one reblog
im 15 mins in someone's playtrough of the remake and im still not too impressed BUT ohh my god they changed my least favourite line ("wHeRe's mY SiSTer GoInG?") and i might just have to forgive them everything for that
other than that so far: the people look terrible (like the graphics look nice, but as people...... they don't look like themselves to me.... also. very dark – i cant see anything but that might just be the streamer's settings idk) the longer intro is sooo awkward without any new dialogue. might be the streamer mode with no music tho idk. but goddamn i don't agree with sam's new role in the prank or see why they changed note (i've always thought it was wild that hannah would just start by taking her shirt of, but now it's just.... why exactly does she??) and i miss the fixed camera but that might be just because im not playing im just watching sucks to be chris in the morning with all that on his face...... not the situation where you want to look like that
ok i'll keep watching and liveblog
it is so dark that if i hadn't seen this game being played about 39204932 times before, i wouldn't have any idea what's going on::'D i love the snow falling from the frees tho no subtlety with the fire here i see ::'D
they made the creepy scarecrow postcard look downright pleasant?? it's so darrrrk/there's so much contrast you can't even tell if dr hill's office has cool things on the background
ok i am very into the new intro
sam on the bus looks so good.... but something is off with josh's video?? the movement?? the face?? something???
still no clarification on whether josh wants to party like they are fucking porn stars or party like they're fucking porn stars
did they move this game from february to like april since the sun is still out in the beginning?? they also made the time earlier but im pretty sure that's still a couple of hours too late..... and i take my winter darkness very seriously (but like. the nice atmospheric dark of the original) it's very pretty tho
it feels very.... video game-y now. with the new graphics and especially with the moving camere.
interesting that jess is now mike's girlfriend instead of mike's new girlfriend, an em is now matt's girlfriend instead of mike's ex and same with mike and matt
oh noo the snow ball fight without music is horrible:::'D
oh nooo the sun is finally and very quickly setting i can't seeee anything
doctor hill has a swedish flag on his desk 😂😂
i am not a gamer. but. is the hunting around for a premonition on a totem.... fun? seems like a frustrating waste of time
ok i am an hour and twenty minutes in (chris wandering around the lodge) and i'm seriously considering on just giving up and watching another (third.. this week..) original game let's play instead. mainly because it's so damn dark that it's not pleasant to look at. the flashlight (or lighter or torch or whatever) is for pointing out glinting things, it's not supposed to be the only light source! one of the things that keeps drawing me back to this game year after year is how pretty and atmospheric it is, and the remake... is not delivering.
but at least they don't leave the window upstairs open anymore! that has been bothering me for years
ok i cant do this i give up!! i'd like to continue bc the streamer seems cool, but iii cannot see anything. i'll skip through some random scenes and mourn what could've been and maybe watch another let's play of the original... there might be one or two on the internet that i haven't yet seen
Tumblr media
like look at this!! who is that?? where is he??? i wouldn't know

top 5 horror films!! you can substitute another genre if you don't like horror but i'm curious :3
hii Mint <3
for someone who writes horror i haven't watched that many horror movies bc i am incredibly sensitive and will have nightmares for months but i have been getting more into it
1. The Ring.(US remake 1+2) In my early teens for a while I hosted halloween parties with a sleepover where we binged horror movies and this was always one. It scared me really badly but also. I really empathized with Samara the vengeful ghost. Sometimes I would go outside at night and imagine i was talking to her. So uhh yeah lmfao
2. The Name of the Rose. More of a thriller than a strict horror movie but it was my mom's fave movie so saw it super young it def felt like horror. Old movie that takes place in a sinister abbey, there's messed up murders and it's about sin and forbidden knowledge and gloomy monks and books that can kill you...marked me so much aesthetically and like vibes wise
3. The Ritual - watched this along with @superion-artworks the other day bc she said sanctuary reminded her of it and it was honestly a beautiful movie. Like scary yes but very poetic and cathartic
4. Jennifer's body. Also a recent watch and man I wish i had watched this when it came out, not just bc Amanda Seyfried was part of my bi awakening but bc the themes are just so great. codependent homoerotic formative friendships ftw
5. The Vvitch also watched this with Soupi and it's so well done and atmospheric and fucked up and rich. Incredibly unpleasant to watch and yet at the end I felt something really transcendent which i feel is the whole point of horror
Honorable mentions : Annihilation, Crimson Peak, Fear Street Series, I Know What You Did Last Summer (also a sleepover horror movie nostalgia bc it's not good)

It’s been pretty much given in terms of remakes we’re getting re5 next but I was wondering why a group of people are so passionate about code Veronica being next? Wouldn’t re1 remake (yes again because as much as some people wanna deny it I don’t believe it’s enjoyable for younger players, I mean talking from experience I played through but I wasn’t exactly having fun) make more sense first then re cvx? Re5 story is a little confusing without knowing re1 lore sure but re cvx just straight up doesn’t make any sense if you haven’t been watched or played re1 or does it?
sorry i'm in the "don't remake REmake" camp. as far as i'm concerned, REmake is a perfect game.
i'm about to be really annoying about this, actually LOL sorry
bc that's not a title i give lightly. there's a whole list of games that i consider to be the greatest games ever made (RE4, OG FF7, uncharted 2, yakuza 0, devil may cry 3, xenogears, diablo 2 -- just to name a few off the top of my head) that are not perfect games. they all have flaws, they all have things i can and will bitch about if asked.
REmake and hades.
that's it.
those are the only two games that i consider to be perfect, without a single flaw or thing to complain about. i sat here for like 20 minutes and wracked my brain for another game to put on that list, and i can't find one.
everything about REmake from art style to level design to atmosphere to pacing to enemy design to sound design to voice acting to writing quality to atmosphere to controls (now that 3D controls have been implemented) -- all of it is flawless.
any remake of REmake would be a lesser experience. there is nothing you can do to make that game better.
if it was still using the old tank control system, i would maybe agree with you on the accessibility aspect for younger audiences, but 3D controls modernize the game completely.
you personally may not have liked the fixed camera angles, but there is an artistic merit to them in REmake specifically that would take away from the overall experience of the game if they were to be removed and replaced with an over-the-shoulder camera.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this game released in 2002.
it is older than or as old as a decent chunk of my followers.
do you realize how fucking insane that is, for this game to be that old and still look like this? there's not a single other game on the planet that holds up artistically 21 years later the way that REmake does.
for reference, other games that released in 2002 include vice city, morrowind, bloodrayne, eternal darkness, and kingdom hearts 1. none of them hold up. not a single goddamn one.
and it looks this good because of its art style, which includes pre-rendered backgrounds that you can't do/use without fixed camera angles.
in fact, part of the reason why RE3make was received so poorly is because RE3 doesn't work without fixed camera angles, either, because of the way that nemesis and his encounters were originally designed/developed. he's not a 1:1 comparison to Mr. X in RE2. nemesis encounters were highly scripted and made use of the fixed camera angles and limited visibility in order to make them tense. taking those things away just turned nemesis and his encounters into minor inconveniences rather than the setpieces they were meant to be.
like... RE3make was fine. but that's all it was, because it really lost something in translation.
even RE4make has real legitimate criticism to be leveled at it in terms of the change in art style leading to a change in atmosphere from OG. RE4make does not feel the same way OGRE4 does. something got lost there in the environment and sound design. RE4make just happened to add more than it lost, which RE3make didn't pull off -- and a re-REmake would fall short the same way.
that is why people are calling for CVX to be remade before RE5 and not RE1.
because there is no reason to remake REmake. not a single goddamn one. it can't be remade to be better. it just can't. because remaking it would cause it to lose more than it would gain. because it is already a perfect game.

Hey, Anon! Sorry this took so long, but I wanted to give this some real thought. So I've never been much of a raider. I just didn't find it too exciting to treat WoW like a part-time job. I dabbled in Vanilla, but never did anything after Zul'Gurub. There was a bit in late BC when my small guild and another one joined forces to run Karazhan for awhile (I don't know that we ever got as farther than chess). But it wasn't til the introduced LFR that I ever saw raids while they were new with any real frequency (I know, I am a filthy casual). My endgame has usually been more PvP and alts. But! That leaves a zillion dungeons and the raid experiences I have had so let's see…
When I think of dungeons in Vanilla, I think of Blackrock Spire. I have a great fondness for General Drakkisath in UBRS, for having someone kite him all over the place. And the Beast! Taking the punt from the Beast. Eventually getting the Chromatic Carapace and starting down that road. Those were really fun times. But also Bal'nazaar in Strat, which was a really fun surprise and also, uh, something I actually have a screenshot of. :)

In BC, it's all about the Blackheart the Inciter fight in Shadow Labyrinth. "Slaughter yourselves for my amusement!" That was a wacky one, especially the first time you saw it. It was also cool, as a non-raider, to get to fight Kaelthas in Magister's Terrace. But also, in Auchenai Crypts, Shirrak the Dead Watcher. The first time you came to that bridge and saw that guy, that was memorable.

Wrath is really hard to pin down. I'm actually really partial to Utgarde Keep. But it kinda has to be the Lich King chasing you out of Halls of Reflection. That was such a tense encounter. Unsurprisingly, I don't have any screenshots. But, looking through my screenshots, I just found out we did Naxxramus in 2009! I have no memory of this!

Who knew?? I bet the same friend who made us an alliance with a bigger guild to do Kara was behind this, but I completely forgot about it.
First boss that comes to mind in Cataclysm is in the Stonecore, your friend and mine, Ozruk. Like many of you, I am certain, the first time he yelled "Break yourselves upon my body!" my group cracked up laughing. I think we might have even wiped from laughing too hard. He's got a great song, too! But for Cata, it has to be Deathwing. The fight on his back is probably the most memorable instance fight in the expansion, for good or ill.

Mists actually has a whole lot of my favorite dungeon and raid bosses. Stormstout Brewery was pretty unique, with the Ook Ook fight being pretty great. I liked the Sha of Fear fight, with the teleporting to different platforms and all. The Paragons in Siege of Orgrimmar are memorable. I did so much for those bastards. Having to fight them all was mean. I think the Thunder King raid is one of the best raids of all time, top to bottom, and the Thunder King himself was a really cool fight.

Warlords is actually harder to remember. Nitrogg Thundertower on the Grimrail Depot train was really cool. I remember hating basically every minute of the Everbloom... Ner'zhul in Shadowmoon Burial Grounds had good atmosphere. I enjoyed Highmaul, but did not like that final raid at all, nor the remake of my beloved UBRS. Oh, High Sage Vyrix, that was a cool fight. Man. That Archimonde fight. I swear, it took like 15 tries in LFR. I never went back after we finally won.

I've expressed my complicated feelings about Legion before, but it had some fun dungeons. The fight in the dark in Vault of the Wardens was really cool. Maw of Souls' fight with Freyja was cool, tearing up the back of that boat. But not a whole lost stands out to me, dungeon & raid wise.

BfA. I liked the Ghuun fight. The Azshara fight, and also the swimming one with the big eel. That whole final raid was pretty interesting, with a good final battle. Some cool things in there. But the best was Lord and Lady Waycrest in Waycrest Manor, with the big pipe organ. That was cool.
In Shadowlands, I liked almost everything in the first raid. Some really fun things in there, and Denathrius especially. The Tarragrue fight in the 2nd raid was really fun with the anima powers. And the Eye of The Jailer fight making you grapple across that gap was fun.

I have weirdly very few memories of Dragonflight dungeons & raids, apart from fighting Fyrakk over and over trying to get that damn axe. My RNG is legendarily bad. 11 tries and nothing yet. I don't think I played dungeons too much after the first couple of months, and didn't get too into the first 2 raids. Think I did them once each. Honestly, Dragonflight has found me playing alts harder than ever, so between that and PVP, I've done a lot fewer instances. But I do like that they incorporated dragonriding into one dungeon and the 2nd to last fight in Amirdrassil.
And that is my long, long answer. I'm sure I'll remember something I should've mentioned as soon as I hit post. Thanks for the ask!
