Bruce gets all of his children as babies

I have no idea how this would function as a plot rn but just hear me out-

He goes to the circus and The Grayson's fall and Gordon trusts him so he's like, 'can you help me check out their trailer and see if anything's wrong/suspicious? please I don't trust my cops'

And Bruce is like "yea sure" and he finds their trailer ransacked but a little baby cry leads him to a secret compartment where he finds baby Dick

And he can't let this baby be handed over to Gotham CPS, but he also can't trust anyone in the circus either, so he adopts the baby himself.

"It's temporary" he tells himself.

And Gordon stops by every so often with his own daughter in tow and soon her and Dick are inseparable and Wayne Manor becomes as familiar to baby Barbara's eyes as her own home does.

But then he's out one day, walking past the same alley his parents died in, on accident because Dick and Barbara were fussing and Dick dropped his blankie and it accidentally drifted into the alley, and he bends to pick it up and hears a little baby cry

And he finds Jason behind a dumpster, his mother's head buried in the trash as she searches for anything to get her fix- but she couldn't find it and there were too many drugs in her system anyway, so she's dead.

"It's temporary." he swears when Alfred raises an eyebrow at him when he returns with three babies instead of two. Dick just wraps his arms around his new brother and babbles incoherently while Barbara clutches blankie and watches knowingly

He's had both for a while, Dick has officially turned four, a few months after Babs, and Jason is a few months away from turning three and Tim shows up on his doorstep with a note revealing his name and a few allergies and nothing else and Bruce tries tracking down who left him but can't.

"It's temporary." He growls, but Alfred doesn't comment, just plops Tim down into the playpen beside Dick, Babs, and Jason, who immediately start playing with the baby.

And Bruce is Batman and Dick is finally eight and Jason is six and a half and Tim is two and Dick begs Bruce to let him train with him, so he does. And Dick breaks his arm and Bruce is freaking out and takes him to the emergency room where Caroline is giving birth and Bruce can't turn away from her screams so he rushes in to help and the nurses are so grateful to him but there's so much blood and Caroline shoves Steph into his arms and whispers her name and says "please" and Bruce can't say no.

"It's temporary." He whispers, numb, when Alfred asks if they got a cast and Dick lifts Steph with his non-cast arm and goes "Yeah! And a little sister!" And Alfred goes :0

And then Dick is suddenly thirteen and Jason is 12 and they're asking him to go out on the streets with him, the way he's sometimes letting Barbara at fourteen, and Tim is 8 and already helping him with cases and Steph loves cracking Riddler's riddles and he can't say no to training them, at least.

And they're three nights into Dick's trail run- "Jason wait until you're thirteen like your brother. No- no there are no exceptions. Don't make that face. When you're older. Go to bed. Jason-!"

When Dick trips and falls down an alley and Bruce screams and lunges after him, but he's safe when Bruce arrives, sitting gently on the ground, eyes peering at him from the darkness.

"Can we keep her?" Dick begs and a wide eyed seven year old Cassandra stares at them, not blinking. Bruce sighs.

"It's temporary." He recites the old script to Alfred, who just goes "very good, sir" and makes arrangements to buy a sixth different colored cup so everyone has their own.

And then Dick is 18 and Nightwing and moving in with Barbara who's training Cass and Steph at 12 and 11 as Batgirl and Jason is 17 and outgrowing Robin and Tim is 13 and arguing that it's his turn now and Bruce has them all over for family dinner and arguing that Tim is a great deal smaller than his brothers-

When there's a knock on the door and Bruce opens it and a small three year old Damian is blinking up at him, murmuring the word "Baba."

Dick and Barbara babysit and Alfred makes him a Robin onesie and Tim is 16 and designing his own Robin costume, testing his autonomy and Cass and Steph are 14 and 15 and going out as Batgirls together under Barbara's watchful eye and Batman sort of fades to the background, but he's always there in case they need him

And Bruce is always waiting back at the Manor with hot cocoa and their favorite films when they finish patrol and Batman and Bruce are one and the same but Batman smiles and Batman tells jokes and it is not uncommon to see Batman wrap Robin in a hug

Nightwing is Gotham's and Bludhaven's together, but he still lives in the city of the Bat and patrols the same streets with his father he has since he was eight

And they're all gathered together at Christmas, decorating the tree and laughing at the gray streaks Bruce has because little 9 year old Damian is a menace and 17 year old Steph and 24 year old Dick are teaching him the proper methods of annoying Bruce to the highest degree while 23 year old Jason is complaining about how much crime spikes during the holidays to a 25 year old Barbara with a golden band wrapped around her ring finger and 19 year old Tim and 18 year old Cass are helping Alfred set the table

And then the doorbell rings and Bruce says he'll get it and he opens it to find 13 year old Duke with a cocky smile, a tilted head and grief stricken eyes and the boy just barely manages to say "I know who you are, Batman" Before Dick is complaining about Bruce adopting another child, even if this one is decently older than what he's used to

"It's not temporary." Bruce promises when he signs the adoption papers a year later, officially solidifying Duke's place in the family. "Welcome home."

omg another one of my asks that actually predicted a major plot point... this ask ties well with the last part written here. i'm thinking about having the reader get a love interest/s but i have already written an outline but one thing is for sure—

but they don't know who the mother is, don't know your age, or where you come from, and what business bruce has with the woman to guarantee your adoption at the instance she had disappeared without warning.

your existence was a mystery most would like to solve. after all, it was your picture that was plastered all over the newspapers and articles, it was your name that journalists whisper and it was a silhouette of your face that the underground knows by heart. every known information about you was shared discretely yet efficiently like some sort of virus.

maybe this is out of the picture, but id' like to imagine you and connor having a therapy session where one comes out absolutely obsessed with the other, and it's not you.

connor's character for me is so, so good for an angst potential. it's like his personal struggles is a way for him to show you how absolutely you two are meant to be. and he may have met you through bumping into you (false) or maybe... he has seen you stalking through the shadows back when he visits the manor. using his superhearing, he can hear your voice from the kitchen begging alfred to relay a message to bruce, sounding so absolutely desperate. it's the way you tell alfred how you wished your father actually spends time with you, or how nobody seems to notice you— that he kind of just makes a silent promise that he will talk to you soon, he needs to know why this family seems so keen on ignoring and how hypocritical tim is for literally doing the same thing to you when he's aware of kon's past.

if he (or anyone else) should be a love interest (though he is a minor character in the series unless you guys want him to be a major one), i can already imagine the absolute hell you have to suffer not only from your family but from your own lover. just imagine the stockholm syndrome or the delusions you convince yourself with because you're finally loved by someone but that love restricts you from the very freedom you tried to build.

the batfamily would be so conflicted because why are you choosing some stranger over them...? then you slap them in the face with, "well, this "stranger" wants to kidnap me and lock me up, sure! but at least they actually looked at me for more than five seconds!" and you can watch how the color drains off their face, their conflict giving you the perfect opportunity to run away from both your ex-family and your soon-to-be-kidnapper-lover who thinks your comeback is a funny way for you to propose.

Another fic about Tim Drake, this time is with Talia Al Ghul.

In my head Tim is gender fluid (pronouns? YES) and the kind of feminist that accepts women's rights and women's wrongs. He loves Talia's style and vibe, he doesn't get the hate Dick has for her nor why she loves Bruce so much (for Tim, Bruce is just a guy, he's Batman, but still just a guy). He is a little bitter that the only Al Ghul he genuinely likes and respects doesn't like him at all. All bc Ra's is obsessed with him and Damian hates him.

So after one too many rants from both Ra's and Damian, Talia is so fucking done that she kidnapped Tim with the intention of killing him. And while she is mid rant about why she has to kill him, to solidify Damian's place as heir of the Al Ghul family and Wayne family; Tim, who only had like 3 hours of sleep in the last 4 days, just snaps at her.

"FOR FUCKS SAKE! I DON'T WANT TO BE RAS HEIR, AND I'M ONLY CEO OF WE BC HE WAS GOING TO DESTROY IT AND BRUCE HASN'T TAKEN IT BACK! Talia frowns at that, she knows Damian's fondness of animals but doesn't he have close to 10 pets already? She lets Tim go and they part ways. But something is bugging her... In her surveillance of Tim, he looked so tired and skinny, barely drinking water, only eating when needed to survive and drink an ungodly amount of energy drinks... She starts to feel something in her stomach, like when she saw Jason after the pit... Then it clicked... And just accept that Tim is her son now. She stops mid way home, sends a message to her father that she is going on a personal mission to fix some wrong doings. Ra's doesn't ask many questions, none at all. The next thing she knows, is that she is at Tim's 'nest' and she is sending for cleaners and food, Tim returns to find her chilling in his living room like nothing is abnormal.

"What the hell are you doing in my house?"

"Language, Timothy, I'm simply here to get some things right and let you know about our new relationship development."

And he is too shocked and tired to question it so he just goes along with whatever she says, probably thinks it's an hallucination. He sleeps for like 10 hours, wakes up to find her making him breakfast, and they talk, Tim is still a little shocked and weary of her bc of the sudden change of heart. But she stayed with him for like a week, and they exchanged phone numbers, and emails, and he just rocks with it? Listen, he is a mom's kid through and through, he gets to have two badass moms and he ain't complaining about it. Of course he tells the rest of the core four and Cass, so whenever she comes to visit they don't freak out.

Slowly but surely, Talia reprimands Damian for his hate towards Timothy, "he is your older brother, Habibi" and Dami is confused but that's his mother so he tries.

The most confused is Ra's, bc "what do you mean I cannot kidnap the Detective, Talia?"

"Father, he has an important gathering with his friends, it is best to let him be."

"How do you know that?!"

"Because he is my child? And we talk, now leave him alone."

Ra's is just dumbfounded, "what do you mean he is your child?? Since when-?"

"Honestly father, since like 5 months ago. Haven't you seen the paperwork stating that he is now my child? Like Jason and Damian." Talia raises an eyebrow and leaves to call her new son.

And Ra's is just left there processing the new information. Queue them going to Gotham to visit the bat family. Everyone is panicking bc they don't visit unless they have something dangerous going on. But Tim is just chilling in a corner waiting for the chaos to arrive. Talia and Ra's, arrived at the manor, everyone is greeting them, Talia hugs Damian and Jason, then turns around towards Tim-

"Oh my sweet child, you look far better than the last time I visited" and hugs Tim tightly and starts checking him for injuries.

"Mother, you look beautiful as always- Mom, please last time you visited I had a stab wound." Tim says casually.

"And two hours of sleep, plus a couple of bruised ribs." Talia frowns but sees Tim is fine. Everyone is staring at them like

??? What is happening???

"Oh right, I forgot to mention that Talia adopted me five months ago, and I guess Ras finding out it's the reason for the visit, right, Mom?" Tim says innocently still hugging Talia and looking smug at Damian, who is having a small stroke.

Ra's is trying to get his attention, "Welcome to the family-"

"Talia might be my mom but I refuse to be called your grandchild, my only grandfather is Alfred." Tim says coldly.

When he finally gets theere a d manages to help Danny calm down, the kid starts exclaiming what happened, and while Batman would like to first trace back to how in the hell that mp3 player made it from Amity to Gotham, he has to help the kid find his family again first.

Except his city, the city he loves and has come to see it's Guardian Spirit as a sibling, refuses to let him go. In fact, whenever Batman starts trying to release Danny so he can go home, all it does is hurt Danny worse and worse!

Cue the Bats contacting every magician they can both count on and stand being close to, because even Batman's children dont immediately go to "oh hey, let's just adopt the kid" and instead try to help him first.

Would Bruce be disappointed that Gotham is being possessive of a kid that isn't theirs? That they're seemingly trying to force any of the Bats to adopt him, when that's not what the kids wants or needs?

Would Jason be heartbroken that the Spirit of Gotham was knowingly hurting a child just for their amusement?

Meanwhile, Danny just wants to go home, and be far away from this city. And he wants to know if there's there something like a ghostly restraining order he can file against Gotham?

Like, he was maybe considering moving here in the future, after he graduates, but now? Now, because of this, he's NEVER setting foot in Gotham ever again.

Hmm, there are a couple of discrepancies within this ask lmao.

In previous parts of this ask, it's stated that Danny is 17 and that Gotham is actively hiding him away from everyone, meaning that Danny is either the same age as or older than Tim when Jason beat the shit out of him 💀 and that Batman wouldn't be able to find him.

I also think if the Batfam were to ever meet mp3!Danny, he wouldn't ask for help or tell them what's going on.

In this idea, I imagine that Gotham is DESPERATE for help since she already lost some of her heroes several times and she doesn't want it to happen again. She keeps Danny in the city so he can help her against the curses and murders there. Danny is in a panic bc he's separated from family and he HATES the idea of being away from his haunt, but in the end, he and Gotham will work together to keep the city and its heroes safe until Gotham is satisfied.

I imagine that later, they make a more formal deal and Gotham agrees to only keep him there for a year. In the meantime, Danny helps around the city (and eventually gets discovered as Bruce notices strange things happening).

I think Danny and Gotham would have a mutually beneficial relationship where they make a deal and they both dislike the situation, but make the most out of it and then grow to like each other. Danny may hate the situation at first, but I think he'd understand Gotham's desperation. She doesn't want to hurt him (she comforts him in part 2, but still won't let him go), but she needs him a lot and he gets that. He did just witness a murder on the first night too, which kinda proves Gotham's point ab how much she needs help.

-Dana is unimpressed bc she's had patients like this before, and she can tell he's just trying to distract her from her job. it doesn't work. (plus she is still "on a break" so with Jack, and she is Loyal and wouldn't cheat on him)

-Eventually he finishes physical therapy but they keep hanging out together bc they became Genuine Friends, and they enjoy each other's company.

-then one day they come back from an outing with tim (they are his escape from all of Jackbats fighting) and walk in on Jackbat in a. questionable situation. Dana turns and walks right back out the door, and Jack runs after her being like "it's not what it looks like!!!! I'm not gay!!!!!" (Bruce audibly scoffs at that)

-dick rips the fuck into Bruce ("how fucking could you he is still MARRIED she was WAITING for him she never would've done this to him I can't believe you would destroy a marriage like this" "oh because you care about the sanctity of marriage so much. remind me, when was the last time you spoke to Emily?" -Dana decides Ok You Know What Fuck You I was a good person I didn't cheat I was willing to stick it out for our relationship and give you time to work your shit out but you clearly don't care about us so we are over. I have better options anyway.

-Dana files for divorce and dick and Dana start dating

- jack's misogynistic ass is so jealous cause YEAH he said he didn't wanna be in a relationship anymore and he was already moving on but that doesn't mean he wants HER moving on >:(

-Bruce calls him out on this bullshit and says she's a grown woman who can do whatever she wants and then he privately pulls dick aside and is like "you're not doing this. stop. you're making everything worse. plus she's a civilian. you can't. this is stupid. I know you're only doing it bc you're mad at me about the way I handled things with Jack so you're trying to cause drama to prove a point." and so dick is ofc like "GOD Bruce not everything is ABOUT you sometimes I have my OWN thoughts and feelings about things ever think about THAT huh?????" and like. yeah it's not ALL about that. they genuinely like each other. but this conversation does for sure make him want to date her even harder just to spite him.

-tim is fucking miserable because Jack and Bruce are mad at each other, Bruce and dick are mad at each other, jack and dana are mad at each other, and dick and Jack are mad at each other. The two pairs that aren't beefing are dick and Dana because they're currently in the honeymoon stage of their relationship, and Bruce and Dana because Dana blames Jack for the cheating, not Bruce, and Bruce blames dick for Dana and dick dating. because he's totally normal about when grown women make their own choices.

anyway how do we feel about this? I know it's A Lot and there's really no canon basis for Dick and Dana but honestly I just think it would be really really funny. I tried to be pretty accurate with Dana's characterization but also she isn't very centered in the narrative while Jack is alive so it's hard to make sure I'm getting it right. if anyone has any critiques about her please let me know, I don't wanna get her wrong

dick's loyalty to anyone else who needs help, then bruce, in gotham knights

i've been stewing on this since November of last year. the 'retribution part 1: sons and lovers' arc from gotham knights (2000) was genuinely soooo interesting and not in the way that its like mindblowing but its just so weirdly well and and nuancedly written.

heads-up: its very outdated like bruce is being racist to dick -- for context dick gets told that suprise!! his grandfather (yoska graesinka) is secretly alive and wants to meet him and dicks surprised cause he though everyone in his family was dead already and so he asks bruce "i thought you checked that out years ago???" like if dick still had any living relatives and bruce says "your people are notoriously hard to keep track off" and its ambiguous if that means romani people or circus people and dick goes "my PEOPLE??? what's THAT supposed to mean" soo ummmm........ 

but anyway. for more context, yoska is not actually dick's paternal grandfather but was told he was by ra's al ghul (and yoska genuinely believed it) and dick is 50/50 on it but ends up liking him because yoska is a sweetheart and obv bruce is very very very very pissed off and doesnt believe yoska is actually dick's grandfather and is kind of very. like. cold to him and dick thinks he's being unfair and then he starts being cold to dick too. (also more context -- this is basically right after bruce officially adopted dick (it's still in the courts and yoska is petitioning it)

it's also set right after talia al-ghul is ignoring her father (she's now running lexcorp and going by talia head (if anyone else remembers that era)), so ra's gets very upset and bruce assumes that ra's probably "thinks the whole thing is [bruce's] fault" (THIS IS IMPORTANT LATER)

anyway, bruce and babs insist that dick meet yoska, and yoska calls bruce "your raya", meaning (not romani) landowner, and dick tries to explain that although bruce isn't rom, he is still family. the wordplay here is really interesting bc theres the whole vibe of You Don't Belong With Him + calling bruce dick's landowner kind of implies that their relationship is not permanent -- and also (as of the nightwing runs prior to that, i'm thinking chuck dixon specifically?) dick was insecure of this for a long time too when bruce didn't adopt him and he was only his ward. also, written by the same author, inheritance (and in an earlier gotham knights issue -- sibling rivalry), when dick is close to being 18 and he's scared he won't mean anything to bruce anymore because he legally won't have a connection to him. so in total, there's just not really a sense of permanence.

anyway. later when its revealed that dick fully has his own apartment, yoska is shocked and is like "he doesnt let you live at the manor????" and dick says "he would if i asked, but i have a life here" and yoska is like "THIS IS NOT A LIFE... all you have is rent and... job" (kind of a bar tbh)

but anyway, dick realizes that yoska's not his grandfather for real and ra's is playing all of them, and he explains that to yoska. they get startled but in the end it's just bruce, and yoska and bruce talk it out and and they all make up or whatever and dick is like oh btw you can live with me if you want to yoska and he says "you have no need of me, flying grayson. you have family enough right here" (which was cute!!)

then we see ra's missing his daughter, and he does (just like bruce guessed) blame bruce for ruining his relationship with his daughter, and thats why he tried to ruin bruce's relationship with dick

and then it goes to bruce officially officially adopting dick!! and they have a cute moment but then, as bruce explains ra's motives to dick

bruce acknowledges that dick's loyalty will not always be for bruce and bruce only but for anyone he thinks he can "save" -- "your loyalty is easily come by. it is offered to anyone you deem to be in jeopardy"

bruce explains how he thinks dick has a "I Can Fix Them" complex, talking about how he attaches himself to people who are always in some kind of trouble (babs, helena, kory) and dick feels like bruce is trying to tell him that bruce feels like dick is letting dick adopt him because of the same kind of attachment and that this will help Fix bruce etc etc

and so this is the finale. but the lead up to this? the emphasis on devotion? on saving people?

in issue #10 (about 10 issues prior to sons and lovers), tim and dick tag along a wayne enterprises meeting with bruce, and the fire alarm goes off as dick and tim play tag. tim suggests that they exit the building, but dick says "after we see what's on fire, whether anyone needs help, and where bruce is"

ITS MAKING THE SAME POINT BRUCE DOES, 10 ISSUES LATER. dick will always prioritize helping other people over bruce (and his own safety)

the second part where this is foreshadowed is where hugo strange (dressed as batman) interrogates dick about "if bruce wayne is batman" and dr. strange says says "admit that though you could shed these meager bonds and kill me with your bare hands, you won't dare as long as batman's safety is in question" and dick corrects him with "i wont endanger ANY hostage's safety"

even though obviously it means something very different (he's trying to make dr strange think that bruce isn't batman) but still dick admits to it.......... like ra's you were too right.... dick's loyalty is quite literally anyone who needs help and then to bruce... and look. here once again. even TIM knows that...........

if dick had to either save bruce or tim, he would save tim. (ik he doesnt fr and right after this scene, it shows dick trying to save bruce but. its more about whats being stated because this is all lead up....) i'll come back to this when i'm more coherent but does anyone else understand. i'm gnawing on the bars of my enclosure.

Things I need in a Reverse Robins AU

-I don’t care what the order is but please let Duke and Jarro be adopted before Damian is taken in! I need Damian to be jealous of an alien starfish, my bones require it 😭

-Duke ans Damian make Jason and Dick’s lives so difficult… not as antagonist and purely because they snuck out and caused so much havock that Bruce now has a sixth sense for when his kids want to act up. They cannot even attempt stealth because Duke and Damian did it better.

-I want Duke and Damian to be those kid brothers that never got along. They used to regularly ‘spar’ (fist fight) but Dick, Cass and Jason don’t believe it because they get along so well now? Tim and Steph are obviously lying.

-A grown Dick Grayson being so mad because he went his whole life wanting to be taller than just one big brother, one! And he never gets it 🥰 (Him and Tim are the same height. He hates it w a passion) Technically he is taller than Jarro. But so is Ace and Tidus, that accounts for literally nothing.

-In contrasts to his big brother’s stealth and sneaking out shennanigans, Tim just straight up lies to Bruce when he wants to take off with YJ, vaguely saying their plans (baseball, trip to some histprical landmark, chilling on Bart’s new ride) So while Bruce blames Duke and Dami for his greys, he says that Tim is the only reason he isn’t fully grey because he’s so responsible and considerate and always tells Bruce everything. (Tim tells Bruce exactly three things, two are half-truths and one is the boldest lie in town 😇 Bruce is nonethewiser.)

-Running off of that, I want Tim to be the sneaky middle child always in chaos, but I want Dami to know this and point it out to Bruce and gst shut down (like Candace Flynn levels of bad)

-Dick is spoilt by his many older siblings. He knows and takes advantage. I’m talking like 18yo Dick Grayson showing up at 22yo Jason’s place when Jason is at College and Jason returns home to find his little brother wearing his robe, eating hia cereal and asking if he can borrow Jay’s car because Bruce is hiding his keys until Dick actually gets a drivers license, which he doesn’t need because he hardly ever drives anyway 🙄😒 Jason tells him to fuck off, kicks him for not throwing thw empty cereal box away and asks where tf he thinks he’s off to anyway??????

-I want Cass to be a bratty younger sister, but only to Jason. She’s happy to hangout and cherishes her time with all her brothers, but she terrorises Jason. Purposefully is quieter when walking near him to frighten him, steals every comfy, bright hoodie he owns, wiggles into his bed and leaves her stuff for him to pick up, clean. She happily helps with chores until Jason asks and suddenly, she did not hear him, she was ‘busy, calm down grumpy.’ I want her looking at his school work and making faces at him if he tries to help her. I want her to want nothing more than to bite Jason, but also have him be her secret favourite brother. I need them to be best friends but the sort who will sell each other out for a single corn chip.

-Dick convinces Damian to help him steal an elephant. If Damian weren’t so weak for his baby brother he’d think about how even tge manor is not large enough to comfortably house an elephant. Duke isn’t completely sure it’s a good idea, but he trusts his brother’s to be smart enough to think this through ☺️ (they have not and will not think the logistics of owning an elephant through) Tim is fully aware this is a bad plan, he’s just even worse at saying no to Dick 💀 Steph is so mad that she has to be the voice of reason among these idiots 😒

-Tim dropping out of High-school actually leads to a huge fight lol. Bc Duke and Damian have Masters and Jason is looking into Ivy Leagues and Cass adores you Tim you need to be a role model 😠 Tim moves to San Francisco and doesn’t talk to Bruce for months after that fight. He still regularly contacts his siblings though.

-Personally don’t love Jason dying in Reverse Robin AU’s, but you know if Joker killed him at 15 he’d be dead in two weeks tops. Oh you want to kill the baby brother of a trqined assassin and Tim, one bad hour away from villany, Drake-Wayne? You think Duke would stop them? Dick? You think wrong. Dick might even try to jump ahead of the line. Cass is perfectly happy to shut her eyes and pretend she cannot see her brothers planning 🫢 The Joker would die a slow and painful death. Steph and Duje would run Batman distraction. (Bruce actually has a support network and two kids younger than Jason who are grieving. He’d need to be a parent and help them with their grief. He’ll probably be shit at it, but he’d still need to try.)

-When Steph starts college she occasionally visits the manor, liberally fills her bag with spare socks, new towels and non-perishables. Alfred doesn’t mind. Bruce does, but only because he’s more than willing to buy it for her and she will kick him if he even glances at any of his credit cards or bank accounts while she is near.

- Barbara probably has a crush on Steph and Tim. Like not a serious, I want a romantic relationship crush. But like ‘Steph is so strong and pretty and she’s so smart Dick, she wants to be a Doctor that’s so cool!’ And Tim is that weird crush you can’t describe. Like Matthew Gray-Gubler. He looks sorta like a raccon and an addict, but he’s weirdly handsome and can work a computer like no one else, ‘isn’t he so smart Dick?’ Dick doesn’t know whether to be jealous or to laugh at her because. Like. Really??? That’s who you think is cute from all my amazing big brothers ans sisters?

-Dick, as youngest brother, probably has the most eclectic music taste. He listens to classical, trap music, K-Pop, scremo, RnB, showtunes. Just all genres. He doesn’t love all genres, bit he k ows enough to have a super weird road trip playlist.

-Dick also always has to deal with his friends, civvie and otherwise, having crushes on his siblings.

-Jarro barely spends holidays with the family, but he gets presents put aside for him and is the most patient, most fun big brother of the batfam. Damian still hates him, but will begrudgingly buy him gifts and invite him to family events because unfortunately, Jarro is his sibling. -Because he's never around, Jarro is the favourite older sibling, with Jason, Cass and Dick always making him projects from school. Duke, Dami and Tim see Jarro more, since they love going to see the JL or going to space and don't care that Bruce disapproves. They will either lie to Bruce or sneak out or just leave the manor 'Because I am a grown ass adult B, you can't ground me.' Steph does not like space or the JL half as much and is more busy studying/working than the other three losers. (affectionate)

Writing prompt, Ra's becoming YJ core four and Cissie's grandfather begrudgingly, not just Damian and Jason.

In a universe where Ra's Al Ghul is a decent parent and grandparent, all though the last one is begrudgingly, the time stream arc happens, he still finds Tim interesting as an heir (not as partner or vessel) and does kidnapped Tim to check on him and his training, and to try to convince him into becoming his heir. Tim just looks at him tiredly and says "Do you really want someone who doesn't want the League to become its heir?, don't get me wrong, I get the league's purpose and what it stands for, but I don't want it bc I don't care, I have my own legacy to care for."

And Ra's is shocked into silence. Because Tim is right, he worked hard for the League, and doesn't want it seen gone by choosing the wrong heir.

"I don't know why you haven't chosen Talia, but she seems like the perfect heir."

"My daughter is a perfect match" he agrees " But I don't know if she genuinely wants the League of Assassins, sometimes I think that she is just waiting for Batman to go whisk her away, into her own paradise. Therefore I haven't made her my heir, I don't want her to choose between the two, since we both know that Batman won't accept her if she becomes my heir." Ra's admitted

And so, Ra's and Talia have a heart to heart, she starts the process of becoming his heir, yada yada yada. But Ra's still talks to Tim, and one of his visits to San Francisco, he bumped into the core four + Cissie, and he is observing them all curiously bc "Why are a bunch of unruly teenagers left unsupervised?" He knows that they are very capable heroes but they are still teenagers. And he accidentally overhears their conversation about their mentors and is appalled by their treatment. And is about to leave them be, not his circus not his monkeys, But, Timothy is there, and 'what did Damien do? So Talia's project (Jason) is doing well?' and he makes a face of pure disgust, and goes to the YJ table

"Detective, how lovely to see you, introduce your friends." And with that the YJ goes from cautious to confused to delightful chaos. They adopted Ra's as grandfather in just a few months, he will never admit it, but he likes it when they call him to bother him. And for petty arguments and gossiping (so much gossiping), they go to visit him in Nanda Parbat, they convince him to get a pool, Ra's train's with them. Somehow nobody knows, not even Oracle or Superman or Alfred or Talia.

Just Ra's being the only adult to actually treat them like teenagers and making sure they never become supervillains, bc after centuries of being alive, he finally finds something to be scared of.

A couple of years later, no one at the JL or close family members, knows about Grandpa R, and they are starting to get their heads out of their asses, Bruce is parenting (B+ parenting) and they start to notice that they leave without a trace a couple of times a year, and have secret phone calls that last hours (Cassie and Cissie's gossip sessions with Ra's, "you two need to stop calling me about this useless information" "Oh so you don't want to know what did Kathy caught Kevin doing last week?" ".... what did he do?" "That's what we thought") and whenever they asked they just got quiet and stared at them until they left. It all comes out one day at the manor, they are having breakfast with the Al Ghuls, and Talia asks about going out to do something with just Damian, Jason and her to Ra's, and he declines saying he already has plans, but they could do something tomorrow.

"What plans do you have today, Grandfather?"

"Oh I've been requested to spend a day shopping with the rest of my grandchildren." Ra says it casually.

"..What?... What other grandchildren? Father there's only Damian and Jason" Talia sputtering

"I meant Timothy and his teammates" Ra's curses under his breath.

"Hahaha no take backs now Gramps" Conner appears suddenly following Cassie, Bart and Cissie.

"Hi Grandpa"

"Grandpa are you done?"

"Where's Tim, Grandpa?"

Ra's realized that he had never referred to them as grandchildren and now he can't back down. And just sigh heavily, and towards the rest of the family

"I'm going out with these menaces to society, no did not brainwash them or anything, they just wouldn't leave me alone."

"Ra's, are you done, can we go now? The car is outside already " Tim appears suddenly shaking his keys. Ra's suddenly takes them

"You are not allowed to drive me anywhere anymore, Timothy."

Tim rolls his eyes "It was one time and we were being chased by a robot, get over it already."

"I don't care."

The YJ is chuckling, dragging Ra's and Tim out of the manor, while everyone else is still shocked. Needless to say Bruce didn't have a good time explaining it towards the rest of the mentors/parents, plus dealing with Talia's and Damian wrath.

Okay so theres quite a bit of Batcest hate out in the world- and I do have to admit, I view the Bats as family too, which is why I can understand, but there are certain ships that i understand, after all most of them are not related biologically at all, and are under no obligation to each other to be so, bruce literally says in one comic "Whether or not they're brothers is no matter, they're both my sons" or smth along those lines, pretty much his children may all be his children but that in no way has to make them siblings anyway im getting away from myself here, a list of batcest shippings i understand and my reasoning for why people might ship them together, if you don't wanna, don't read any further🙃

Bruce/Dick: Brudick is an old ship, actually, originally they were created as a gay couple, not openly, but heavily implied, and a way for people back in the day to "legally get married" was through adoption... Anyway I like BruDick when I see it because it just works Dick understands Bruce in a way no one else ever will, he was the first one, the original, his grief and experience mirrors Bruce's in a way that makes them so similar and yet so different, he is the light at the end of Bruce's tunnel, and theres just so much that can be written about them, angsty or fluffy, whether romantic or platonic

Jason/Tim: this one I also understand, to an extent, Tim needs someone who cares for him, Jason needs someone who understands him, Tim looked up to Jason, not as much as Dick but enough, he wants Jason to come back into the family, wants Jason and Bruce to forgive each other, he sees the good in Jason when no one else does, hes stubborn in his desire to mend their relationship- Jason on the other hand once he stops trying to kill Tim actually genuinely cares for him in a way he doesn't for anyone else in the Batfam, appreciates Tim's knowledge and perspective and I do believe, I honestly am not too sure on this, but he works with Tim first before anyone else??? i'm probs wrong on that one but I think... anyway I do like their pairing- it gives a nice contrast and they usually tend to love each other wholeheartedly, almost obsessively in the fics i read, which they kinda deserve, someone who loves them so much

Bruce/Jason: this one I get, but only after the pit. They're two sides of the same coin, Jason is only more willing to go for the final step and Bruce isn't, theres just so much of their morals that collide and snap, this honestly could just be a fic/pairing i like because of the angry smut and all, but yeah i like them, I feel like romance between them would make it easier for Bruce to get his point across about why he can't murder and why its wrong, and also vice versa

Dick/Jason: the two oldest, the ones who dealt with Bruce's shit the longest. Idk but something about them, they had almost personality flips, Jason was the happy go lucky one, then he went pit mad and now hes angry and snaps and Dick was the angry one hell bent on vengeance and now he's smiling and happy and trying to keep the fam together and all that, idk jason would let dick be angry again if they're a couple and let him release all the pent up anger/repressed inside and Dick would cool Jason's anger, bring back the joy in him, etc etc

Bruce/Tim: this one I'm still a lil on the fence about, I like it because it offers another side of Bruce and Tim's relationship, and it adds another way for Bruce to show he does actually care and appreciate and love tim and wants him in his life, and its another way for tim to soothe Bruce and bring him back from the edge and etc etc... don't have too much to add bc again im on the fence but yeah

so those are all that i got for now, yeah hope that maybe explained things better, probably just made things more confusing but i just had to get it out at one point :p overall i steer away from batcest in my fics and dont like to use it like that, theyre family, brothers sisters, parents in my heart, but sometimes theres just scenarios where they fit better as romantic partners... anyway thats all

But I was thinking maybe Bruce and readers mum have split custody and his mum is very demanding, the reader doing things like music and ballet (I just love dancing bc I was a dancer) and their mum pushes them to be perfect, in that and schoolwork and belittles then if it’s not perfect.

Like they are worse than most of the family, not sleeping and always studying or pushing his body to the limits with practice.

The family is going to a dancing competition for Cassandra and the reader is performing but they don’t know, reader not getting first place and they see how his mother reacts badly, maybe belittling the reader, their reaction maybe.

Standards are important in life. With the said standards you choose important things in life. Partners are one of the most important thing you need to choose by your standards, but there is no such thing as perfection. There is no such thing as being a perfect person in anything you can do.

Everyone makes mistakes.

But that's something that (Y/N)'s mother doesn't seem to understand. Both her and Bruce taught her that it's important to have standards. But they had different approaches.

(Y/N)'s mom wanted nothing more than perfection. Bruce only wanted (Y/N) to give him his best. And with sharing custody with his mother made things far more difficult for the teen. Bruce noticed how tired he was and how he looked like he was on the verge of sleeping every single time he sees (Y/N).

But the mom couldn't care less. She wanted her son to be perfect. And if he didn't achieve what she had in mind? Well, he would get grounded and shouted at.

(Y/N) didn't even want to remember all the insults she screamed at him over the years. He doesn't want to remember the fact that she was his mother. But he knew that the custody agreement wouldn't change.

They always favor the mothers rather than fathers.

The only thing where he could let go of those insults and thoughts was ballet. It was his biggest passion and it was supported by both his mother and Bruce. Bruce always tried to come on every single recital that (Y/N) had and he was always the loudest person in there.

However, (Y/N) was competing against his adopted sister Cassandra. (Y/N) didn't tell them, because his mom didn't want Bruce to know. She was often like that, trying to rob Bruce of a lot of things. (Y/N) didn't like that at all, but he couldn't go against her.

After Cassandra was finished, (Y/N) saw that he had a good competitor. He stretched behind in the wings, getting himself mentally ready.

He would really have to reach deep inside himself in order to win.

(Y/N) was happy with how he did and now they waited for the awards. Cassandra and (Y/N) knew that it would be a tight race for the first place.

One thing that he didn't expect to hear was that he got second place. He smiled, but his gut dropped. Oh no. No. Not happening. This can't be happening.

He accepted the award with a smile, but he could see him mom in the crowd. She was fuming. He looked to look at his father, who was smiling at him, showing him a thumbs up. That was a little bit comforting.

After they have finished, he changed into the normal clothes. He took a deep breath as he saw his mother.

" Second place? Do you know how you embarrassed I am? " She whispered harshly. Bruce congratulated Cassandra and then walked towards the duo.

" You are a failure. " She said and Bruce saw red. Not happening.

" (Y/N)? Please go to your brothers. " Bruce said, a tight smile on his face.

The said brothers were glaring at (Y/N)'s mother, ready to give her the piece of their mind. They welcomed (Y/N), saying that he did a good job. (Y/N) nodded, but he didn't really believe it.

Bruce was chewing his mom out and said that that he will have full custody of his son. No child of his will be berated.

" Hey (Y/N), you are going to stay with me from now on. " Bruce said, hugging his son.

" What about mom? " (Y/N) asked.

" Don't worry about her. I don't want you to go back to her. I don't want you to go through the abuse. And as soon as I can, I will file for full custody. Nobody deserves to be abused like that.
