for the au[other colors] i thought it would be cool to have klugs parents show up for a couple scenes, but for the timeline of the major events i needed them GONE and UNRESPONSIVE.

hes smart so i think, even at a young age, he gets that they're busy with work and all, and he's not alone per say- his friends and teachers and everyone in primp would definitely look out for him, but ive just been thinking. because like, i thought itd be cool if it was almost like strange also helped raise klug. as a (malicious) mentor of sorts. after they made truce (that they both keep breaking)

i imagine klugs parents are probably good people, but are horrible as parents. like they just keep doing their own thing and just let the village raise him.

but then that got me thinking, in this setting, do you think he would unknowingly (or maybe knowingly but trying not to think about it) resent them for not being there for him growing up?

the rest of this post is gonna be rambling and predictions ⬇️

alright this ask enabled me, im gonna just dump all my thoughts as of now on what's to come for kanade's story :) i could end up being completely wrong, but hey im just theorizing and having fun here while i wait very impatiently lol

To start, I don't think kana5 will be on the scale of mizu5 (i mean i might be biased but idk if anything will come close to that level of insanity again), mainly because there hasn't been as much build-up to a breaking point. Kanade's issues have been pushed aside (by herself especially) and not heavily focused on up to this point in the story. There hasn't been any increasing tension for things to reach a climax yet. Having her big break be in this next event would be too sudden and sort of unprecedented. For this event at least, I highly doubt that'll be the case. Instead, I think this event will start to touch on Kanade's buried issues more, and begin building that tension for something bigger. I can see this being a multiple event arc, similar to the events leading up to the climax of Mafuyu's story. Summarizing that, yes I think Kanade's got some real tough shit ahead of her, but that's why this won't be a one-off event story. I think it'll just be the beginning.

That being said, to touch more on my predictions for kana5 itself, I think Kanade will start to slip, and the others, Mafuyu especially, will take notice. I can't really predict anything specific, but I think something will happen that will make her question her ability to save people, or cause her to be harder on herself, as she has in the past, to keep composing persistently, neglecting her own needs and health. However, things are different now than they were before niigo. She has more people around her that will be able to see the damage she's doing to herself. But she also knows they all look up to her, and that her music lifts them up. She knows they all have a lot they're dealing with, and she needs to be there for them. She can't let them down.

Then, when Kanade pushes herself past her limits at the cost of her well-being, what will she do then? She meets with the others on nightcord every night, and Mafuyu is living at her place. She won't be able to rot away by herself anymore without people noticing. But she still feels this need to be the group's rock and to be the one to save everyone, so she'll try her damn hardest to prevent the others from worrying about her. She'll shoot down their attempts at trying to talk about it. I think she might be especially stubborn this time around, and it might cause niigo to have to figure out a way to help Kanade, since they won't be able to get through to her at first.

Kanade has shown in the past to get uncharacteristically aggressive when she's pushing herself too hard, as shown above. She starts to take on everything herself, and snaps at anyone who tries to stop her. I think this side of her will be shown more going forward, as she begins to go down this kind of self-destructive path yet again. At least, that's where I think her story will go. Her tendency to work herself to the bone hasn't really been resolved, and she's gone so far with it before to end up in the hospital after passing out. She doesn't care what happens to her, as long as she can save people. The only reason she has ((slightly)) gotten better at taking care of herself is so that she can be able to keep composing without ending up in the hospital again. Not because she cares about her health. Because she must keep composing. She still only does the bare minimum for herself. If it's her cooking, she's only having instant ramen, and most days she's probably not going to see the sun. She still doesn't sleep much, and Mafuyu has said that she's often falling asleep at her computer.

This might be getting a little rambley atp, but my point is that Kanade neglects her own needs in her determination to save others. I mentioned how she neglects her physical health in the last paragraph, but she also neglects her own feelings as well.

She minimizes her own problems or just doesn't even talk about them. I think she truly believes that her problems don't matter, that they only distract her from her goals. The reason she doesn't open up is likely because she herself doesn't believe her feelings are important at all. She doesn't pay them any mind, and she doesn't want anyone else to either.

Of course, I have to bring this card up. I think this is just a perfect visual representation of Kanade's feelings, and it's great foreshadowing for what's to come. Those feelings are buried deep within Kanade, yet to be addressed or solved. THIS is what we're getting into. Kanade, depicted as an angel, surrounded by death. I think this is related to her guilt surrounding what happened to her father, believing it was her fault. That she destroyed everything. But because of that incident, she told herself she has to keep composing, and never stop, in order to save people. She feels like she owes that much, and that that's her sole purpose. She won't allow herself to think otherwise. No matter how much it destroys her, she must be a savior for others.

Last thing I wanted to add, because I saw this reblog under a prev kanade analysis post, and they brought up great points. Especially how dangerous Kanade's composing grind can get. We wouldn't even have a story if Honami hadn't found Kanade unconscious!!! I think she might get to a really low point again like this, but having Mafuyu there especially, it won't be able to go unnoticed. I don't have much else to add to those tags though cus they speak for themselves 🙏

Finally, just real quickly going back to the little comic I drew, this is just a rough idea of how I think Kanade could act. She'll get noticeably worse, but will try to hide that fact from the others and deny any help from them. I also mentioned that I think we could see more aggression from her again, so I included that, as she feels threatened in a way by Mafuyu worrying about her. She can't let that happen. Also, Kanade's impending doom aside, I think this progression in the story may also spark some change in Mafuyu. She might show some more emotion in this or future events, and she may realize how much Kanade means to her, motivating her to do more for her. I think it'll be a full group effort to save Kanade, but I wanna see Mafuyu taking a bigger role in this. I just think this also has the potential to grow Mafuyu's character more.

Also, as for the Kanade crashout, I really don't know how they'll handle that. I can't really predict what they're gonna do with her climax. But I want her screaming yelling and crying !!! like she better go insaneeee 🙏 and I also feel like they have a lot of potential with her seiyuu/VA and stepping out of the soft quiet voice to do some crazy shit, maybe in the songs too pls pls pls give us loud kanadeeee

-on the other side, he also knows it feels like to have a lot of pressure and power on your side. he worries about what it must feel like to wield ancient magic and be the only living person who can see it. every time you use it, he checks on you after, ensuring that you don't feel too exhausted and can continue fighting.

-supported you so much through the trials. he didn't need to know every detail of what you did and went through but he would hold you so tight when you came back, praising you over and over for being so strong and brave.

ron weasley:

-he's a little jealous, ngl. like his partner can use this sick magic and is responsible for keeping the magic safe and alive out of the wrong hands?? why can't he do that???

-i also feel like ron would be confused, if not a little angry, that you refuse to share the power and attempt what others have before (such as isidora using the magic to remove pain). he doesn't really understand the problem and feels like the keepers are suspicious.

-draco loves you a lot and finds your magic incredibly cool, don't get me wrong, but i think his family swayed his pursuit of you because wouldn't it be so grand if the malfoys had a keeper in their family? someone so powerful and knowledgeable? who would pass down the truth and their magic? yes please! (every time narcissa brings it up, it irks draco but also he pats himself on the shoulder for choosing you)

-wants to know every detail about the trials and the past and the memories you're viewing! you'll come back from a trial, sweaty and tired, maybe bleeding, and he'd help you first then ask hundreds of questions after.

-your use of ancient magic is not necessarily unknown and makes you quite popular among the students of hogwarts. this, however, makes draco really jealous. if he could, he would follow you everywhere, glaring down anyone who tries to make a move on you. before you go on adventures, classes, or just to the common room, he'll drape you in his slytherin scarf as if he was marking you.

neville longbottom:

-poor thing gets so nervous when you have to complete the trials or do something incredibly important for the sake of keeping the magic safe. he knows he can't go along with you but he'd stay by your side until the very moment you enter the map chamber, whispering praises and support the whole time.

-would heal up all your wounds and take care of you if you exerted too much during a fight. he knows how much everyone depends on you and the least he can do is take care of you properly! he would run you a bath, apply soothing balms to your skin or use his plants to heal you up, and cuddle you tightly!

-tries his hardest to not feel useless but sometimes it's hard when you're so strong and he's so...not. of course you'll always reassure him and give him the confidence he needs but very frequently, he gets really down on himself about it.

fred weasley:

-every day he comes to you with a new scheme that involves your magic. could you make a portal that leads from the dungeons of hogwarts to the top of the astronomy tower? it's important. snape is gonna get really mad when he goes into his office? can your magic fix that?

-begs, and i mean BEGS, you to let him come along on your adventures and battles. he wants nothing more than to support you and fight along your side! as long it's not a trial, you can't help but let him come along. you usually end up saving him after he pays a little more attention to the way your whip around the battle, taking down everyone effortlessly.

-speaking of paying too much attention to you, he thinks it is so attractive than you can do what you do! he gives you some time after fighting to recuperate but then immediately he is ON you. he's kissing you and telling you how hot it is when you turn someone to just particles.

george weasley:

-he wants you to teach him everything you can. there are some things that are just simply innate and can not be taught but all your tips and tricks when it comes to fighting will now be all of his tips and tricks. you two would just find some field away from the burrow and go at it, sending spell after spell at each other. georgie is just overflowing with adrenaline and it's a great way to get it out.

-deep down, a part of him wants to be protective of you. he wants to keep you from going out into danger and taking on dangerous tasks all for magic and some old people telling you what to do. but he knows better, trust me. he knows you can defend yourself just fine but he just wants to put you in a little bubble and never let anything hurt you.

-just like ron, he will brag about you whenever he can. everyone is sitting around the great hall table, talking about how it's so cool that you defeated a troll in one fell swoop and he just wraps his arm around your shoulders, a glimmer in his eye as he proceeds to say "yeah, aren't they just so amazing?"

remus lupin:

-fears for your health and safety so much! when you come back from a trial, he's hushing you and putting you in bed, feeding you chocolate and brewing tea until you feel better!! you are bearing the weight of centuries old magic all alone. the least he can do is take care of you!

-supports your decisions throughout your entire journey as a keeper. if you truly believe that releasing ancient magic to the world and using it for more than the original keepers intended, then he understands. if you want to continue to keep it hidden, he will not question your judgement.

-this is so fluffy but i feel like you figured out how to manipulate your ancient magic to floating, bright blue scenes and pictures. around remus's time of the month (said lovingly), you'll lay in bed with him and use your wand to paint pictures of animals, lakes, waves, stars, or, in more sappy moments, your future.

sirius black:

-he thinks it is SO hot that you can take someone down without barely blinking an eye. his favorite move you do is when you lift someone into the air and slam them down repeatedly. gets blushy and turned on excited every time.

-once followed you down into the map chamber only to be very harshly yelled at by one of the keeper's portraits. he just wanted to see what it looked like and to know where you go on dangerous missions!! who can blame him, truly? definitely grumbled the whole rest of the day.

-when you two get married, he refuses to let you take his last name and instead will either take yours or say screw it and come up with one! he doesn't want his family to have the gratification of having a keeper with the black family name. he wants you to shine for who you are and in another century, he wants your name to be yours, not his.

That mech is so darn tired and having to watch his tiny mate like a hawk because their thirsty self collects husbands. Most of the poly groups, there was some form of agreement to share and then Star’s over here just stressed out and currently trying to beat back Shockwave with a stick thinking he’s interested. But once Star’s less salty about it, he’s going to play that card to win every argument.

• “At least I didn’t frag your mortal enemy. And Soundwave,” he growls, wings flared out and trembling and your eyes narrow. Because he’s never letting that go. Megatron wasn’t even really your fault, but Soundwave? You glance at where the communication officer’s sitting with your tiny daughter curled sleeping in the crook of his arm and he looks up at the sound of his name. Yeah, you absolutely chose him and you don’t regret it. Even if you still feel guilty.

• Watching your lips press into a thin line, before you slowly nod, for a klik he thought you were about to get angry and yell at him. “Touché,” you mutter and he’s not sure what that means, the word not translating right. “Fine. Humans have more than one name. Give her a Cybertronian middle name if it makes you happy, but I swear if you pick something like Skullcrusher or Starscreamette, I’ll smack you. Repeatedly.”

• “I know a Skullcrusher,” he mutters. “He’s a jerk.” Turning to watch the little one snuggle her face closer against Soundwave with a little noise, trusting the other mech with the innocence of a sparkling. Not knowing how cruel and hard the world can be and he wants it to stay that way. He drags you into his lap and rests his chin on your head. And you slowly relax into him, not as annoyed as you sound then. “I was thinking of Skyfall for her Cybertronian name?” Something that’s a bit of him, a bit of his trine. And that guilt twists through him, because he needs to reach out to Thundercracker and Skywarp. Apologize even if it’s going to kill him, but he wants them to know his daughter, to be a part of her life. And he misses them.

• “Sky,” you mumble, watching your daughter’s little wing nubs flick. Looking for anything human in her features. Sometimes you think you see the shape of your eyes in her optics, that little mouth is yours, right? The rest of her alien. More Star than you. You’d thought that would bother you, and it does, but not in the way you’d imagined. It’s an odd, lonely feeling, like you’re on the outside looking in when you see one of them with her. Megatron has her longer than you did, is she really still yours, then?

• “I want to nudge Nova Storm or one of his brothers into taking a human mate. She needs other Seekers,” he murmurs and you nod. Before slowly leaning back and frowning up at him to make his wings droop. And Soundwave makes a low hum of noise, paying attention to the conversation now. Because they both know that look on your face.

• “Why them, not your brothers?” You ask, and his wings flick. Oh, no. Nope. Absolutely not. “You are not pulling some arranged marriage crap with our newborn baby.” Because you don’t care if your kid falls in love with another Seeker or not as long as she’s happy. “She can have seeker playmates, they can learn to fly together. I’d love that,” you growl, chest hurting imagining your kid trying to fly. Will she just know or have to be taught? “But you’re not going to push someone at her. She’s going to decide.” And his jaw clenches letting you know that’s exactly what he was thinking. And it’s not happening.

You lock eyes with Satan and he flashes you a wide grin which eases your nerves slightly as you approach his throne. You smile before clearing your throat "Satan.. do you want to dance with me?"- Somehow you managed to say that without stuttering so that's a bonus.. in your book at least.

Satan's grin widens as he stands up and takes your hand, leading you back onto the dance floor. As you walk you could definitely some eyes fall on you, Gehenna devils looking at you with a mix of awe and slightly envy though whether or not they were envying you or Satan you didn't know- You could also see Leviathan glaring daggers at Satan, clearly jealous that you didn't ask him to dance- well maybe he should try hanging you less.

You look at the DJ and she somehow takes the message of restarting the song! 'That's awesome' you think to yourself, smiling.

As the song starts you take Satan's hand- luckily he was either the same height as you or only a bit taller because otherwise that might've turned very awkward-

At first it felt embarrassing to dance in front of so many devils but as the song progressed you felt yourself becoming more confident- the younger you who lived on earth could never!

And as the song progressed you could hear Ppyong and Paimon cheering you on. The red lump devil moving so much he accidentally dropped your glass- but that was a problem for later, for now you were just going to enjoy the dance you were having with Satan- well that was until somebody accidentally bumped into you which caused Satan to kick their ass outside the club, making a huge hole on the wall- In the background you can hear a few devils gasp along with a few others laughing- Beelzebub seemed to be enjoying himself as his laughter could be clearly heard from the thrones-

'I hope that's not gonna cause a lawsuit' you think to yourself while stepping aside, letting the Gehenna devils rush over to Satan to get their asses kicked as well- You know Gehenna devils could handle it but you were slightly nervous for the first devil- you weren't sure which country they were from and depending on where they were from Paradise Lost might be getting a patient later on-

Your eyes fall on Mammon who was actually standing not so far away from you, talking with Bimet, Eligos and Valefor. You smile, approaching them though as you open your mouth to speak Mammon beats you to it, holding his hand out "Would you like to dance master?" Well damn- were you that obvious in your intentions- probably or Mammon wanted to dance with you- or both..

You nod and grab his hand, following him to the dance floor- goddamn you felt small next to him and the stares you got didn't exactly help your cause. Mammon grabs your chin gently "Focus on the dance master, would you like to change the current song?"

You shake your head "No, I quite enjoy the current one"- you were just hoping it wouldn't turn into a slow dance cuz you could barely reach Mammon's shoulders- you'd look like an idiot trying to keep up with him-

As the song ended Mammon picked you up and placed you on his shoulders as he started walking towards Bimet who pulled a donation box from out of nowhere "Alright whoever witnessed that dance has to pay."

"... Is he seriously charging people for that?" You ask, half in disbelief and half in amusement- "Aye.. looks like it" Ppyong responds, flying next to you and handing you your drink. After you've taken a sip Mammon grabs the glass with his other hand "I'll hold it for master until you're thirsty again." Without letting you get a word in Mammon walks out of the club- or whatever the place was- When you arrived outside there was already a helicopter waiting- did Mammon plan this from the beginning? To steal you away from the other kings and then fly away?

If that was his plan then damn- you were impressed- considering the dumb shit the kings do.. whenever they're acting smart it impresses you..

Mammon gets inside the helicopter and sits you down on his lap, signalling for whoever was controlling the helicopter to leave.

You couldn't help but feel bad for Bimet and other Tartaros devils considering their king just kinda ditched them but- you were sure they had their own ways of getting back to Tartaros.

You didn't even have to look for Belphegor, you already knew where he was. As you step closer to the thrones you notice how Belphegor was only half laying on it, his lower body on the hard ground- and that did NOT look comfortable in the slightest- then again the king of sloth was named the king of sloth for a reason.

You also knew that there was no chance in hell that you'd get him to dance with you so you turn to Beleth "I want to take a nap so can you carry him somewhere comfortable?"- hell if you can't dance with him then you're going to do the second best thing, sleep.

Beleth laughs at your question and casually throws Belphegor over his shoulder, starting to walk towards one of the private rooms with you following behind him. As you did you could feel the other kings staring at you with slight envy or in Leviathan's case- huge envy- but you were going to deal with that later, for now the more you thought about taking a nap with Belphegor the more tired you got.

"Here ya go, just call if ya need anythin" Beleth suddenly states as he lays the devil on his shoulder onto the couch- apparently you were too lost in thought to notice the lack of conversation between the two of you.. He nods at you again as he leaves. You observe Belphegor for a few minutes before facepalming, you really didn't think this through all that well did you- were you supposed to just lay down next to him or you know- wake him up and ask him permission to take a nap together- then again Belphegor would probably say something along the lines of 'How annoyin' or 'Don't ya dare ask me for permission for something like this'

So fuck it- go big or go home.

You carefully lay down next to Belphegor and close your eyes, sleep almost immediately taking a hold of you-

A few minutes later Beleth walks back into the room to check on you and he decides to tuck you both under a warm blanket.

Shockingly you had to look around for Asmodeus for around 30 seconds before you spotted him, sitting on the throne- yeah shockingly not flirting with anyone- perhaps someone tied him down on the throne. Though you couldn't help but smirk to yourself as you observe the thrones, to the right there were 6 thrones and to the left only one reserved for Asmodeus- It was a funny sight though you weren't sure if you wanted to voice that part- not with Asmodeus looking at you like you were a snack..

"Keke- don't be shy MC～" He says while winking at you- how the hell was he even allowed in this party/ball anyway- 'Fuck it, go big or go home'

You clear your throat "Would you- like to dance with me?" Holy fuck you were regretting those words almost immediately and as for Asmodeus? Either because he was enjoying your discomfort or he was just happy that you asked him to dance out of all devils- a wide smile falls onto his face. "In which way?"- Oh for God's sake.

"Dance as dancing?" you raise an eyebrow. "I know keke～ I was just teasing you" Well you were relieved- because for a second or two you wanted to smack Asmodeus for even thinking about something else..

Without letting you get another word in Asmodeus takes your hand and gracefully walks you onto the dancefloor- which for some ODD reason was now completely empty- but at least you didn't have to worry about bumping into anyone and having them get mad at you for it?-

You signal for the DJ to restart the music before whispering to Asmodeus "Keep your hands to yourself". Your sentence earned you another laugh from the devil holding your hand- "I'm serious." You frown but considering how the smirk on Asmodeus's face widened- you didn't look very serious to him.

"I know, I know～" Did he though?

Looking for Beelzebub was a pain- you could not see him anywhere so you decided to go up to Bael who was discussing something with Beleth at the thrones. Before you could go up the stairs somebody had already captured you into his arms. "Beel." You state, looking up to see Beelzebub placing his chin on your head already, a bright smile on his face. "I want to dance with you"- well at least you didn't have to ask Bael where he was now-

And instead of waiting for your answer Beelzebub drags you onto the dance floor, gesturing for the DJ to change songs which was a bummer- well for about 10 seconds before you heard the new beat which was far more energetic- a perfect song for dancing- it was funny though considering the other songs were a bit more.. formal- not to mention how everyone was dressed at least somewhat fancy-

Beelzebub grabs your hand and immediately starts to dance, spinning you around with a smile that was somehow even brighter than around 40 seconds ago- but you couldn't blame him considering you were also already having a lot of fun!

As the song progressed the beat got even faster and more fun and as you span around you came to the conclusion that your legs were definitely going to hurt a ton after this.

Suddenly Beelzebub lifts you up and dashes out of the club, flipping off the other kings. You could see Satan break a part of the throne and Leviathan's face darkening a lot- A boop on your nose forces you to focus your attention back on Beelzebub who had a smile that was both mischievious yet adorable at the same time- or maybe his smile was always like that when you weren't on the receiving end of his mischief- either way you were happy right now.

And so you spend the entire night running off with Beelzebub, occasionlly stopping at a random stall in Abyssos for either a drink or for a bite to eat while also dodging the search party which consisted of Mammon, Satan and Leviathan-

At a few points Beelzebub had even taunted them on purpose before skidaddling out of the view- it was utterly hilarious though you were sure that either you or him or well both were going to deal with a few angry kings later..

You saw Leviathan sitting on his throne, glaring daggers at the dance floor and even his fellow kings as if they owed him something- You clear your throat and start walking up the stairs though you quickly bumped into Leviathan who had already stood up. He then grabbed your hand and he starts dragging you away from the ball room- you look to see a few devils staring at you with envy- mostly Hades devils-

You had no idea where Leviathan was leading you- probably somewhere more quiet where he can hang you in peace for simply breathing wrong.

"Hey uhh Levi-.. athan?" You ask, quickly adding the last part of his name because you were totally not about to call him 'Levi' "Where are we going?"

"Back to Hades, this place is too loud" Well you couldn't argue with that- it was definitely loud. Suddenly Leviathan opens his coffin- which you assume was placed there well in advance. He then basically yeets you in there! You're not sure if the coffin is safe for human transportasion- perhaps you were going to meet up with Solomon again in the land of the dead or whatever he called it.

Well whether or not you wanted to see Solomon you unfortunately didn't. Instead you ended up in a large hall somewhere in Hades, shockingly it also seemed like a dance floor. As soon as you step out of the coffin music starts playing and Leviathan grabs your hand once again, almost immediately forcing you to slow dance with him.

Leviathan tightens his grip on you as you stumble forwards- hopefully he wasn't going to hang you later for that- "You're clumsy" "More like not used to slow dancing" You grumble, giving Leviathan a half-hearted glare before continuing "And especially not used to suddenly being forced to dance the second I'm out of a coffin"

Leviathan presses his lips in a thin line but doesn't say anything though you could feel him dancing slightly faster, forcing you to try and keep up with him even more

'Deer man is so damn cranky'. Now that you think about it the scene of Leviathan glaring at the dance floor wasn't probably actually glaring but him searching for you..

Finding Lucifer wasn't as hard as you thought considering you could see him sitting on his throne, talking to Marbas about something. Finding the balls from god knows where you step up and take a few steps forward to the throne.. and then you decide to skidaddle back- after all you were planning on asking Lucifer of all people to dance! You needed to give yourself another pep talk, one which was a lot longer than the 2 minute pep talk you gave yourself a few seconds ago- The balls you got deflated about 5 seconds after you got them.

"MC is something wrong?" Ppyong asks, handing you back your drink "Just wondering how I should ask a certain someone to dance" You reply, reaching to pat Ppyong's small head.

As you continue talking with Ppyong someone suddenly taps your shoulder and when you look up? You're face to face with Lucifer who offers you a small smile as he's holding his hand out for you to take- well damn.

You could see Gamigin basically beaming with excitement in the corner of your eye-

And so you chuckle and nod, taking Lucifer's hand as he leads you to the dance floor. At that point the song had already changed from your favorite one to another one befitting of a slow dance- 'well shit' You think to yourself but hell- when were you ever going to get the chance to dance with Lucifer again? Probably when you were near your 80's or something- assuming Gabriel hadn't kicked your ass by that time- either way you knew it'd be in a very long time and you knew you wouldn't have the patience to wait.

Lucifer sensing or seeing your nervousness shakes his head and guides your hands to rest on him. After making sure you were comfortable Lucifer begins to move, guiding you with him, his movements truly filled with grace- you were 100% certain you looked like a frog that was drunk trying to keep up with him but did you care?

Perhaps not considering how much fun you were having and you felt like Lucifer was also having fun- well at least you hoped so. In the background you could see Gamigin cheering you both on while being held back by Buer- you could only guess he also wanted to join you two.

You made a mental note to yourself to ask Gamigin to dance with you sometime whenever Paradise Lost wasn't busy.

Trying to look for Belial wasn't hard considering you could hear his gremlin cursing at some devils from Tartaros. You raise an eyebrow and walk over. Almost immediately both Belial and Jiyu turn their attentions on you "MC? What are you doing here? You smelly.. thing!"

"Jiyu insult me again and i'll actually boil you for breakfast tomorrow morning" You basically hiss at the small red devil perched on Belial's horn who shut up very quickly. You clear your throat again and offer Belial a smile "Sorry, would you uh- like to dance with me?"

You could see a small smile also rise to Belial's face and he nods with Jiyu speaking for him- of course with his own remarks "I'd be happy to. Please don't boil me for breakfast I'm sorry."

"We'll discuss that later" You state while taking Belial's hand, leading him to the dance floor though unfortunately the song had changed from your favorite one to another but hey- the beat was still good!

Now that you thought about it you realized you weren't sure if Belial even enjoyed dancing- but he said yes so he might..

"You're a good dancer MC. No they're not!" "You're one step closer to becoming my midnight snack Jiyu" You state while glaring at the small devil who lets out a small 'eep'- Seriously Belial should bring him to a dog training school or something-

As you continue dancing you notice how Belial's smile seems to grow even so slightly- so he was having fun! That was a good thing- he's been through a lot. Jiyu even seemed to keep his mouth shut when it came to insulting you- your threat clearly in his mind but the other devils? They still received his- colorful, nice language- well as long as it wasn't directed at you tonight!

"Solomon would you like me to refill your drink?" Sitri's voice catches you off guard and you almost drop your glass- luckily you didn't. You turn around and shake your head, offering Sitri a sweet smile "No not yet at least- I think i've had a lot though I have a question for you".

Sitri nods his head and you take a deep breath "Would you like to dance with me? I'm not really a good dancer but- you know" You explain.

Sitri shakes his head and for a second you were 100% certain he just declined your request to dance but no "I'd love to dance with you Solomon, it has been a while since we've had the chance to"

He takes the glass from your hand and gives it to Ppyong, after that he takes your hand, intertwining your fingers as he leads you to the dance floor.

The song had changed to a more calming one- reminding you of tea times with Sitri ironically but you weren't really complaining considering it helped soothe your nerves a bit.

After the song ended you walk back to Ppyong to get something to drink only for Sitri to shake his head and offer you a new glass of black tea- when he had the chance to do that you'll never know- but hey once again you weren't complaining

To be honest you werent even going to try and look for Foras, already knowing that he was probably somewhere near you, invisible so you sigh and mutter "Foras?"

Foras offers you a smile as he manifests in front of you- yep you were right though did he know about your intentions of asking him to dance?- well you weren't sure about that.

"Foras would you like to dance with me?" You hold your hand out in anticipation. Foras looks a bit taken a bit by your request before he nods, taking your hand in his as an adorable smile appears on his face.

"I'd be happy to" God you wanted to protect that smile- You mentally chuckle to yourself as you walk Foras over to the dance floor, placing your hands on his shoulders.

You could sense Leviathan glaring daggers at you which made Foras try to pull away but you shake your head "I'll deal with mr grumpy deer later"

rookie!leon who notices you the first day at his police academy training, he doesn’t notice that you seem him staring. you think it’s endearing and it’s been a while since anyone has looked at you like that. you decide to let him stare, what’s the worst that can happen?

rookie!leon who enjoys the way you always bite your lips when your worried, when your trying to have a debriefing, he knows your probably worried because of all the pressure that’s on you. but he always makes sure to give you his undivided attention and respect. it’s the best he can give you. for now.

rookie!leon who makes sure your doing okay when you work late hours, he always stops by your office to check on you. sometimes you let him come into your office, sit with you, talk a bit. something about the passion for the job in his eyes, it puts you at ease, makes you feel better. like being a sergeant was worth it at the end of the day.

rookie!leon who holds your hand when the paramedics come, you hold it back with whatever strength you have left. despite the situation and the immense worry he has for you right now; his stomach flutters. he would jump in front of a bullet for you, he has a feeling you would do the same.

and if your more straight forward with your jealousy such as giving her looks or going out of your way to be passive aggressive, straight up rude or mean to her

he would probably stop you from doing so- as much as he really doesn’t care, it does inconvenience him because your his s/o, so directly beefing would only draw more attention to the two of you

Wow, this. This was absolutely fantastic omg. The writing in this was so good and I loved the tidbits of animation we got, like when Mario and 4 were picking up the pages to clean! This was somehow brilliant, and this is coming from a long-time viewer.

It' crazy's awesome that they brought Wolfychu back to do some lines this episode, and I was right about the Waggy cameo from Shadow (YES!). Also, EVAN! You make the cover of the manga? It looks SO GOOD, dude!! As always, great work with the writing on your end 👏

I've already mentioned Melony but we have to talk about the boys. Both Mario and 4 had good intentions to help their friend out. "I would do anything to not lose my friends" and that's exactly what 4 did. The algorithm has been affecting him so much that he didn't want Melony to go through it either. So, he went overboard with the crazy advertising and such, but he still cared for his friend. And a touch of self-doubt and insecurity from IGBP is back because he thought he wasn't doing enough. What good of a friend is he if he can't help out? The savior complex in him would say that he isn't good enough to help Melony, to "save" her from the low viewer retention. That he isn't enough, so he went desperate to have anyone take a copy of the manga. This isn't just about selling a book, it's that he's worth the friendships he has and they can always come to him if they need anything.

He doesn't want to lose them.

Ofc Mario cares so much about 4, they've known each other for years. Best of friends. If anything, Mario would know everything's not fine with 4's actions and thoughts in general. It's why the line, "SMG4, you're better than this! You've done enough damage" from Mario to 4 hits so hard. 4 was back to the "None of you understand the work I do" moment from Mar10, relapsing, and Mario needed to remind 4 of his true self, the one that cared for his friends without perfections. That instead of helping as 4 sees it, 4 was hurting Melony unintentionally, and he has to open his eyes to see that. Two sides, indeed.

Curious that the episode ended with the not "go cuckoo crazy" lesson instead of what 4 said. Goop!4 would eventually happen, bc at this point, yes. But what Mario said is exactly what 4's mindset is rn. 4 is bottling up his emotions and trauma and as long as he doesn't think about it for too long, everything's fine. As long as he doesn't reach that breakpoint, he's fine. In some way, he learned his lesson after IGBP but not quite. For one, he still doubts himself with the guilt of IGBP on top of it. And two, nothing is letting him move on from his trauma. His in-universe audience isn't letting him, Puzzles during WOTFI wasn't letting him, the memories he's been suppressing wasn't enough.

Why does he go through the extreme? Bc he thinks that it would solve everything for him. Like how he locked Puzzles in prison, thinking that Puzzles would remain there when we all know a prison escape is bound to happen. Like the Meme Factory itself was an elaborate trap. Whatever it takes to protect himself emotionally, as he's under the line from having a meltdown, he's fine. But what is that line? What is his breaking point? The thing is he wouldn't known, as shown in this episode, thinking he would still fix it. Everything's fine, he's fine.

And y'know what the cherry on top is? That, other than 4 and Mario enjoying the manga, Boopkins and Luigi were the first to be interested in Melony's creation, regardless of popularity. Very representative of Kevin irl and the deeper significance of IGBP.

....whoops sorry, I went on rambling for too long. I mean, c'mon, you should know the drill by now *points at bio*. If anything, this episode is the biggest piece of evidence for the goop!4 theory, I'm sure our local co-CEO of the theory Funkii (hey moot!) and other goop!4 enthusiasts would agree, YESSIR. Beyond Task Force 141 and Laswell, many - if not all - allied soldiers wondered about what lay under your mask. Obscuring even the eyes, your visage was more unreadable than Ghost's. Larger than life, a soldier among men.

There was a running joke that there was just nothing under your mask, perhaps an eldritch horror of sorts. You let the new recruits entertain the thought, it kept morale up as they conjured more myths of you. They said that no one has seen you without your mask. They were partially right.

It simply was that no one lived to tell the tale.

You were never one for close combat, but fighting terrorists was never smooth sailing. The chaos of battle had all of the 141 separated against the tight streets of Las Almas. How uncanny that you could not see your allies but hear their gunfire. Running out of ammo, you couldn't lament at your misfortune as a shoulder pummeling into your chest, sending you to the ground and the air out of your lungs. Head bashing against the floor you groaned as you furiously clawed up to whatever heavy weight was crushing your body. You were starting to make up the figure of a man hovering over you through the blurry haze of a concussion that filled your sight. The distant static of Price's voice through the radio, probably asking where the hell were you but you had more pressing issues at hand.

Through your struggle and flailing limbs you managed to wring the enemy's pistol off of them with a painful twist of their wrist. And they retaliated tenfold, a large sweaty hand reaching down and pressing your head back against the ground. Your adrenaline makes you writhe further, he was going to suffocate you, or worse, poison you with how fucking awful his hand smelt as the stink of burning gunpowder replaced any of your oxygen. But no, he committed a far worse crime.

A singular pull and the grating tear of fabric as your mask is pulled off of your face.

A heavy moment where your enemy looks down at you and his gaze is not like before. It's clear, it's deep. It is not looking at your facade but at you and you are no longer a soldier. You are merely a human, so fragile, so weak. One that is on the verge of death in a foreign land surrounded by bodies of fallen comrades and enemies alike. One whose mythos is all but lost at the victorious and leering smirk of an enemy as they take in your face.

That simply won't do.

Pulling your knee up to create space between you and the man, you pull out your tactical knife from your waist and drive it into his torso. His smile falls only to land at settle on yours below him, just like his blood that trickles as forbidden crimson down your hands and seeps into your uniform. It's disgustingly warm. He grows heavier as he loses all control over his body and you heave to throw his figure off to the side. You stab him once again for good measure. And then again. And again. Quick, short jabs down with a sharpened blade that cuts through uniform, flesh and bone alike. You did not count how many times you drove your blade down, numbers were too complex when your mind was running faster than any comprehensible speed. There was only one goal. To make sure no one knows what happened.

A harsh grip on the shoulder yanks you back up and you swipe with your armed limb to cut your new assailant's neck but they were onto you. Catching your arm, they pull it up as they hold onto your shoulder once again with a tightening grip that digs into your uniform. But they do nothing more, no matter how much you thrash and kick.

"Wake up, Sergeant," your opponent seethes and that voice makes you still, a buoy that floats across through your rage. Deep and grounding and your captain's.

You nearly stumble back but Price catches you before you crumple to the ground in exhaustion. The adrenaline was escaping your body leaving you with barely the energy to stay upright. Your head lolls back for a second before you bring it to the side to look at your direct superior, the remnants of a concussion making your vision blurry.

"You broken?" he asks.

"Negative, sir,” you respond immediately but he looks a little doubtful, a singular eyebrow raised as he inspects you. Not your body, but your face. The dilated pupils and the taut muscles told more than any wound.

"Can't say the same about your wee friend over there," Soap whistles as he tilts his head to behind you. “Christ, you did a number on him.”

You dare turn to look over your shoulder but Ghost already situated himself in front of the body. But between his feet you could already make out the indistinguishable mass of tattered fabric and discoloured flesh. Fresh blood filled the rivets between the cobblestones, the remnants of the body inching its way closer to you-

"Was it the mask?" Simon brings your attention back to him. You nod dumbly. He only dips his head in what you can only describe as understanding as he folds his arms, fortifying his stance in front of the mess you made. You weren’t going to see your handiwork, he was too kind to ever let you.

John drops his hands down to his sides as Gaz approaches you with your mask.

"Remind me to never get on your bad side," Kyle offers you a sympathetic smile.

"Learnt that the first day I saw 'em on duty," Johnny retorts and you instinctively smile as you take your mask from Kyle. The hardened plaster of your mask had cracked, the fabric that hugged your neck had become torn but it'll do for the remainder of the mission. Slipping the mask back on, Simon offers a nod of approval while Johnny tugged at the fabric for a few finishing touches.

Ultimately the mission was successful. The task force returns to base and although none of the boys mentioned the carnage you left, there are still whispers of it on base. You had hurried to debrief and get your mask fixed but it seemed some privates caught sight of you and that was enough to spark rumours. Your mask had gotten so fractured that a shard was left back in the streets of Las Almas and revealed one of your eyes to the rest of the world. Such a small organ but so vivid. The privates saw, and more was added to the myth that was you. There was now no question about what was under the mask. No lovecraftian horror or empty space, no monster beyond comprehension. No, what was under your mask was terrifyingly human.
