NMTDaily: And So It Begins
- Beatrice’s first vlog! What an opening line, I love it lol. I remembered the hand wave on “hello, people of the Internet” having a wider arc across the screen than it actually does, funny enough! Glad I didn’t specify the wide wave when I referenced this line in MARRIED, the fic I posted on the 25th.
- “I’m not too old for Halloween”, girl after my own heart!
- Always thought it was interesting that Bea’s mother is American. I wonder how/why they decided that. It’s the kind of super specific detail that makes Bea feel so real, because who would make that up? It’s also interesting that it means Bea and Ben’s families are both somewhat international. Another parallel for them, another thing they have in common.
- I bet the Aunties’ wedding was the cutest thing ever, imagine Hero and Leo standing up with them! That’s probably the last time all of the Dukes were together before the story starts.
- I’m surprised Bea’s parents moved because her dad got a promotion. I would have assumed her mom did, because we get the impression of her as the high-powered businesswoman. But good for Bea’s dad. Is it canon that he’s a university professor? (Promotion = tenure?) Or did I make that up for fanfic and/or confuse him with Ben’s parents being professors in canon? Listening for that. Maybe Bea’s dad was actually also a business person all along and that’s how her parents met. Who knows.
- Bea says Australia like I say Indiana, lol (no hate to anyone from Indiana though! Just another of those inborn rivalries with the neighbor, like the Oz/NZ one.)
- “A great science program” I forgot Bea was a science person!
- I always loved the set decoration in this room, I remember it’s Hero’s room, and it’s so artsy and cozy and pretty. Love the wall art.
- “Leo and I are in charge of the house for the next six months” Excuse me, does this series really only take place over six months? Well, it ends in the first week of November, so that’s seven full months. I think it felt like it lasted a whole year when it was airing though. Time slowed down during a certain arc for sure.
- “in-joke with myself!” Classic. I kind of love that the text on screen saying “good one Beatrice” is Bea talking to herself again in-world, but out-of-world it’s kind of the Candle Wasters talking, interacting both with their own main character and with the audience. Meta.
- “Sorry my life is so boring” are like, THE famous last words for an LIW protagonist. Honey, you got a big storm coming!
- I was always so incredibly impressed with Beatrice’s independence, her comfort with leaving her parents and essentially being on her own before she even finished high school. I was alone in a college dorm hours away from home when I first watched this, second semester of freshman year if I’m not mistaken, and I could barely believe I’d managed it. I couldn’t imagine doing that any earlier than I had. I thought she was so brave and cool. I think Bea actually shows more hesitation and nervousness than I realized she did in this episode, both because she’s not used to vlogging yet and because being in a new place is nerve-wracking, but I still think she’s so brave.
- It’s so interesting that in a reversal of the play, it’s our Beatrice who comes from away to Messina to start the story, instead of Benedick and the other men returning from war. Of course, we’ll see how the boys’ arrival on the scene is modernized soon enough!
- Harriett does such a great job making you care about Bea and like her right from the start. You just want to keep listening to her talk. I can’t wait to do just that over the next seven months.
- The Benedict Cumberbatch crush is a stroke of genius, but what are the odds that there happens to be a super famous guy named Benedict that you can reference who is at peak relevance in the exact year your MAAN modernization premieres? Truly, this series as it exists could only have happened in 2014. It was the perfect time and the perfect people. What luck.
- Oh, this is the wider arc hand wave I was remembering! It’s just at the end of the video and not the beginning. Funny!
- Covering the camera with her hand and ducking out of frame at the end of her first video is a direct parallel to what Bea and Hero do in their final NMTD video, sliding out of frame and all. Love that.
- I can’t believe how much there is to talk about even with these early episodes. These posts are gonna get so long they’ll have to go under a cut for the later episodes!

Wes Anderson: The Roald Dahl Stories

An unforeseen surprise gift from Wes Anderson: four short films made for Netflix adapted from the stories of Roald Dahl, all starring the same core cast of Ralph Fiennes, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ben Kingsley, Dev Patel and Rupert Friend. Collected together, they make up the running time for a second Anderson movie of 2023, but I don't think they would have worked particularly well as such, mostly because of the patchy nature of the three shorter ones, as we shall see.
Best by far, and longest, is The Wonderful Story Of Henry Sugar ★★★★★★★☆☆☆, a 40-minute tale of a man learning supernatural powers and what he decides to do with them. Though made on a smaller scale, I actually found it to be a more enjoyable and stronger film all round than the 'proper' Anderson film of the year, Asteroid City, and it has everything one delights in with the work of that director: sumptuous colour, quirky humour, and endless attention to detail.
The other three, Poison, The Rat Catcher and The Swan ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆, are considerably shorter (around 15 mins), noticeably weaker, and, I have to assume, made on a tighter budget. It was strange to realize almost immediately while watching Poison that I'd seen the same story only last year, in a Dahl-scripted episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, from back in the 1950s. The mood, of course, was entirely different and Wes Andersoned, but the ending was weirdly and needlessly changed and so left without a pay-off, petering out to nothing, making it the weakest of the three and of Anderson's films in general.
Having said that, all three still visually look fantastic and are made with a good deal of idiosyncratic imagination, that you will never be able to find anywhere else, so all are worth a watch at least the once.

MoviesOr... The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, The Swan, The Rat Catcher, and Poison
Undoubtedly, Wes Anderson has become my favorite movie director, even taking the spot of Tim Burton. How delightful was my surprise to see he had not one, but four new projects with Netflix (however, I might say that it hurts me the most that I won't be able to watch this in a movie theatre. The commodity of having every movie or show in the palm of my hand frustrates the side of me that loves watching things on a big screen). On a rainy Sunday morning, I discovered this fantastic news and rushed on to finish everything I had to do, just to sit and watch them. Sadly, they were just short films, but even sadder was to realize I wouldn't be able to see them on a big screen like I had the opportunity to do with the latest Anderson's release, Asteroid City. I admit, I have a thing for inches. My TV has 58 of them, and I'm obsessed with seeing everything in the bigger places I can. But even having a big screen at home, I kept my whole watch imagining how it would be to see these four projects in a movie theater.
In my humble opinion, Wes Anderson is the finest example we have today of how movies are meant to be made. The scripts, the acting, the aesthetic... everything is a learning experience. Watching his movies is seeing a live performance of how to be the greatest. A few directors have this touch, and I can think again of Tim Burton and even Jordan Peele, but for me, both of them have lost this magic in their recent work, as if they were falling down a long set of stairs. Another good name is M. Night Shyamalan, and even though he has made a few mistakes in his latest projects, he's still pretty great.
The four short films Wes made with Netflix are: The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (which tells a story of a billionaire who wants more by learning how to see without eyes), The Swan (about two bullies chasing a brave young man), The Rat Catcher (about a rat catcher), and Poison (about a poisonous snake lying on top of a man). All of them were written by Roald Dahl and adapted for the screen by Anderson. They all star the same batch of brilliant actors. The always incredible Ralph Fiennes (who, among many characters, plays a rat man that could only remind me of Peter Pettigrew in the same series Ralph once portrayed a snake man), the charming Benedict Cumberbatch, and the always-in-a-Wes Anderson movie Ben Kingsley, alongside a few others that are incredible, like Dev Patel.
The first short, about Henry Sugar, is the longest, and it's amazing. The colors, the lines, the story… I was in love with everything from the first minute, but when I hit play on the short movie about a boy swan, my mind was blown. What was being told and how it was being told made me want to grab a pen and start writing so badly. The dialogues of the actors are delivered like they're reading each short story exclusively for us. I can't say for sure they are line-by-line accurate, as I haven't read them yet (but now I want to), but this was a brilliant way that Wes had found to honor Dahl's work and give these short movies an identity of their own. It was fascinating. I wish I had a mind so creative to write such intriguing stories.
The next one, about a rat catcher, wasn't so attractive, but the focus here was the acting of Ralph Fiennes as a rat man. Tell me, how disturbing it is to see a man and, at the same time, a rat? The make-up and the costume design were top-notch. However, one thing made this whole magic experience be turned into a dull one: The suggestiveness of it all. I don't understand why they didn't put a bottle of poison in Ralph's hand when he was explaining how to kill a rat, for example, or why they didn't put a stuffed ferret for him to hold, the same way they put a stuffed rat in his hand a few minutes later. You had to guess things were there.
It reminded me of theatre: if you ask the audience to imagine something in a play full of real things, they remember that the play they're watching is just… an ordinary play. I'm sure Wes had his reason, but this was a no for me. Funny enough, one thing kept reminding us that everything so far were just pieces of fiction put on a screen, with random man appearing every here and there to give our actors whatever they needed to act opposite with. These little interruptions didn't seem to get on my nerves, when, in fact, I found them brilliant.
To finish this marathon, we have a short story about a life-and-death situation, and, of all the shorts, this had the best ending (even though it's an abrupt-inconclusive one, so to speak). The story itself is amazing; imagine being trapped in your bed with a poisonous snake and you can do anything? Not even move or cough. Especially because this snake, as the narrator smartly reminds us, can enter one's house without effort. Impossible not to fear this happening to you. Impossible not to stand still while watching the story unfold, as if your every move could awaken the snake on the screen.
Unfortunately, we won't have this hitting big screens around the world. Maybe a few people will be lucky enough to have this in their local movie theatre or in their festivals, but I'm not one of them. If that's the downside I have to live with, at least the good side of commodities is to live in a world where companies are fighting for our attention and fighting to stay relevant. We can only win.

What a mishmash of nonsense!
Murphysmom67 doesn't seem to differentiate between an actor performing a role in a movie and someone living their life outside of their profession of being an actor.
BC wasn't crucified. In the MOVIE his character, Benjamin, was MISTAKEN for Christ (played by Nicholas Pinnock) and his character was crucified. No one was TORTURED! FFS I am beginning to think Murphysmom67 is someone who is fulfilling some kind of torture fetish through some twisted BC fantasies! "electrical prods"?? "Sold to perverted individuals"??? "a slave"??? WTF?? It sounds like she's working herself into a frenzy and getting off on these imagined torture scenarios! Yuck!
And Gator - with her "Struggle Ben!". Wow! Talk about FANTASIES! What sick fucks!
Meanwhile BC is just acting in what he wants to, developing SunnyMarch into a respected company in the business and living his life with Sophie and their three sons!
Maybe it's the fact that the Cumberbatches are about to celebrate their 9th ANNIVERSARY in a week, that is the driving force behind all this Hater HYSTERIA!
The topper is Mstoxictea with her bleating "We value you. We appreciate you."
You see they have to chant this because their ACTIONS speak totally otherwise!
BTW: where did they get that BC's "depressed"? Projection perhaps... of THEIR own depression because of the YEARS they've spent pissing and moaning about their "fave" getting married???
Murphysmom really does put the psycho in psychotherapist.

No wonder her daughter has gone no contact with her. I wouldn't want to have to deal with her in real life. I haven't seen the "marks" on his arms, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are shadows or make up. But a cattle prod? WTF? How desperate do you have to be to get to that?
As for Patty, there are probably ghosts that are less transparent than her. It is clear that her abuse narrative is her sick mind working over time. It's clear she wants Ben to suffer because he won't listen to her. It makes you wonder how she acts towards the people around her in real life.
Then there's Mstoxictea.

She doesn't value him. She doesn't appreciate him. At least not the real Benedict. One can only hope Mstoxictea finds the strength to realize that Patty is using her for her entertainment. That she's been brainwashed. At the rate she's going, she's headed for a massive mental breakdown.

In today's edition of Same Shit Different Fandom we get the he's a victim when seen alone and a willing participant when seen with his wife.
The Cumberbatch sQeptics do the *exact* same thing. When Ben is seen somewhere alone, he's a victim of unspeakable abuse that needs to be saved. When he's seen with his wife and/or kids, he's a willing participant in his abuse.
Again, I am amazed by the complete lack of imagination coming from fandom tinhaters.
Turns out there was no BUA, Alba can get in and out of the US whenever she wants, Meghan is still working with Chris, Tara and Chris are still friends, photos and videos of Alba with her in laws... We had all of this in the last 24 hours. Captdelulu couldn't get a single thing right and she is still pretending she has inside info and 450 different jobs... How is she not tired yet? It's pathetic.

!! SEEKING FOR A RP PARTNER !!
Marvel, Star Wars...
~•~
[ Hello, I am currently in quest of finding a serious, open minded and invested roleplay partner who would be willing to entertain double rps depending on my mood ( I won’t necessarily ask you for a rp if I’m not feeling like handling two of them ). If interested, make sure to check the infos below and read one of my fics to get a peek of my writing style! ]
~•~
RULES :
No god moding. The plot is to be discussed and agreed on together. Communication is also key, so don’t ever hesitate to share your ideas/opinions.
Smut is allowed, and I tend to be comfortable with most topics so don’t hesitate to come up to me with any “taboo” subjects you’ve been afraid to ask for from anyone. Judgment isn’t a thing with me.
OCs are heavily welcome, but please remain rational. I’m extremely attached to realism, and tend to keep things and events logical whenever I write.
Please be literate. I expect one paragraph or more, especially as I tend to write a lot and give much efforts into my answers.
Now that you went through my rules, allow me to present the characters I would have muse for/once portrayed in my writer background or would be willing to give them a shot! :3
CHARACTERS ( classed under their actor ) :
Tom Hiddleston :
Loki Laufeyson | any version
Thomas Sharpe | Crimson Peak

Spelling Fights
Word Count: 1,816
Authors: Deka & Ale
Warning: None, just fluffiness
Pairing: Benedict Cumberbatch x Wife!Reader
Summary: The little fight between an American and a British couple
Credits to this video for the awesome interview: https://youtu.be/eX2M6Lf8WKc
“So, the interview is tonight at eight, right?” I asked, standing behind the scenes of The Hobbit, Ben had just finished his scene as Smaug with the sensors and the tech stuff.
“Yes, but don’t get nervous. You’ll be fine” Benedict smirked, mocking me.
Oh, seriously Benny? He started the game, not knowing I was going to win again. This little game consisted in making fun of each other because of our nationalities, that cute british bastard.
“Of course I’ll be fine” I responded with my head high, I was too proud to quit now.
“But don’t forget that we’re in England. I’m worried people won’t understand what you’re saying, that’s all” He said.
“I can speak properly and I’m sure everyone will get my words, darling” I added with a british accent.
“But I can speak sexier” He winked at me.
“I’m afraid you don’t. ‘Football’, really? Soccer says almost everyone”.
“Everyone is only America? C’mon. At least I don’t say ‘math’, the right way to say it is Maths, you uncultured woman”
I was quiet for a moment, “FREEDOM” I shouted, and the fight began.
Two hours after the little chat with Benedict, we were at home having lunch before getting prepared for the interview. We looked at each other giggling, both of us knew what was going to happen, and we were prepared for the battle. At the beginning it all started as a joke, but now was a whole new rivalry. Ben was chosing a few cookies to eat and I was making some tea, it was a relaxing silence but then my dear husband started screaming.
“That is not how you make tea!” He cried out trying to sound attacked.
“Oh my God, are you serious? We’re not having that conversation again. I highly recommend you to leave the kitchen or…”.
He kissed my cheek interrupting and I smiled wildly.
“I love you, you know that? But maybe we should change tasks. Let me take care of this and you pick the cookies. Deal?”.
I sighed dramatically.
“Yes, we better”.
“Yeah, you can’t just squish the tea bag with the spoon. That’s wrong, love”
“Sorry Mr. Britishguy Sillyname”
He laughed and so did I.
Now we were waiting for someone to tell us to enter the room where the interview was held, everyone took turns, first was Richard Armitage, then Martin and Benedict and I were the last ones. As an actress I was in a lot of movies with Ben. Directors and writers had told us that we have an unique chemistry, but I didn’t appear in The Hobbit trilogy. I joined the crew as a make-up artist and helped with the script, as a big fan of Tolkien I couldn’t miss that opportunity for anything in the world.
“They’re taking a lot of time, aren’t they?” Benedict said, I couldn’t tell if he was worried or excited.
“Is there anything you know about this interview that I don’t?” I asked calmly, “you’re into something, right?”
“Me? Nah. Oh, wait, do you smell that?”.
“Smell what?”.
“Fear”.
I rolled my eyes.
“Okay Smaug the Almighty Destructor of Villages, what have you done?”
“Nothing, I swear!”
He stroked gently my waist.
“Mr. and Mrs Cumberbatch, it’s your turn” announced a blonde woman who happened to be the interviewer.
Before doing so we greeted Martin and talked with him a few seconds. Then, Benedict held the door for me to walk in, so british of him. The purest gentleman.
“Good evening, and thanks a lot for attending me, it’s an honor to have you both here”.
I smiled at her and he shaked her hand.
“My name is Meriah Doty. So, firstly, how are you today?”.
“Great, yeah. Great indeed, although it’s brass monkeys out there”.
Damn.
“It means it’s cold outside” He whispered.
I could see in his smiley face he was forcing himself not to laugh.
“You don’t say!” I answered sarcastically.
Meriah cleared her throat and started to ask Benedict some questions fans sent her via Twitter and Facebook. I was getting a bit bored but then an interesting question popped up.
“So, @CumbercookieLove34 asked: how is it to work with your wife? Is it any competition between you two?”
I crossed my arms, paying full attention now.
“Competition?”.
He pretended to be searching for an answer.
“I wouldn’t name it a competition, but he’s always insulting me. Not in a bad way, you know? But… he’s very silly most of the time, ‘cause I’m the only American in the crew, with Lee Pace of course, but he’s as glorious as Thranduil so Benedict kind of forgives him somehow” I said suddenly.
“The thing is,” Ben started, ”she can’t manage my britishness and she’s mad because she only speaks a simplified version of English” he played the victim.
“Watch your mouth Buttercup Cumberpatch” and I rolled my eyes for what seemed the 10000th time. Meriah laughed again, ”See?” I turned around to face her, “I’m so tired”.
Ben patted my back and gave me that Puppy Eye’s Look, he really knows how to do that look and make you feel guilty.
“You can’t really imagine how is living with him. Complains about the tea and when I send him a text sometimes I spell words with only an ‘O’ instead of ‘OU’ and it drives him crazy, for instance, but he truly does everything he can just to irritate me” I said releasing a sigh. Meriah laughed again, really this girl is just supposed to laugh? “But then he’s a complete sweetheart and his polite self takes control so he says sorry all the time” I chuckled.
Benedict laughs uncontrollably.
“But hey, we love each other after all, so don’t worry, we’re gonna stick together until the end” I said looking straight to the camera.
“‘Gonna’” He repeated.
“Yep” I stated marking the ‘p’.
“Well, you guys are definitely the cutest couple of all time. We’re playing a game now. I searched photos of the cast and you’re going to guess who are they just by looking at their feet” The interviewer said excitedly.
“This is gonna be so much fun” I said already laughing, oh my God, I turned into Meriah.
“So, this is the first one” she showed us a picture of a person with his face and body covered.
“Ugh, whoever that is they got some weird looking feet” I commented.
“Martin Freeman” Benedict said without thinking twice. The interviewer giggled.
“Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, how could you… how ca… Wait what? Do you have a foot fetish for Martin? Oh my God I knew it!” I fangirled in front of camera, “just so you know, people…” (I paused to create a little of dramatism) “I ship Johnlock”.
Both Benedict and Meriah laughed so hard that I swear I heard a snort.
“That’s actually quite right. I took her to the Sherlock Set once and every time we finished a scene with strong content, like the one in the pool or when I jumped… well, you know, spoilers. The point is that she always clapped and hugged Martin and I, and I remember perfectly she said ‘You two are so shippable’. Oh, was that too long? I’m sorry I just wanted to tell the story” He giggled shyly while blushing.
“Oh, and by the way, sorry Martin, you have wonderful feet” I smiled.
“You two are so cute, guys” Meriah complimented. “So, the second one is… this!” She showed us another picture.
“Mmm… James Nesbitt?” I guessed.
“Peter Jackson” Benedict said. No hesitation.
“Yeah! Point for Benedict!” Meriah told us.
“What?! I swear this guy has a foot fetish” I tried to mask my bad loser mood.
“I’m so good at this” He said proudly.
“Okay, so this one is a bit difficult but the black and white is the key” The interviewer said revealing the photo.
It was pretty obvious that it was taken a lot of years ago.
“Mmm...”
“Richard?” Ben inquired.
“Ian McKellen!” I literally shouted, I was sure it was him.
“Correct! You’re good Y/N” Meriah greeted me.
“In your face Buttercup!” I did a short but intense party dance in the chair, “I guessed it and you didn’t!” Ben just watched me as he smiled sweetly. “Maybe the feet are overexposed”
“Yeah, I don’t know why Ian McKellen’s feet are overexposed” He said in his Sherlock kind of voice, “that was rude…”
The three of us laughed.
“The next one,” Meriah said “is this one!” She showed us a photo of two people jumping in the air.
“Mmmm…” I started thinking, “one is Benedict, I know it, but the oth…”
“Me and Jonny Lee Miller” He said quickly, “Jonny Lee Miller and I” He corrected himself.
“Amazing! And Martin Freeman corrected me because his face was plastered in Johnny Lee Miller’s…, my bad” Meriah said.
“Yeah, that’s bullshit. Who did that?” He went to grab the photo.
“I thought it was him, I found it like that on the internet” She explained. “Okay, next and last one”.
“Oh Lord” I exclaimed. Benedict stretched out in his chair and approached the lady with the photograph.
“Richard… Armitage?” He wondered, confused.
“I… don’t know… Stephen Hunter?”
The interviewer showed us the whole picture.
“Evangeline, oh my God” Benedict covered his mouth, surprised, “Oh my God” He laughed really hard, “Fuck” He kept laughing, covering his eyes with the palm of the hand.
“Well, that" I pointed at him with my finger ”is definitely rude”
I was super tired so I decided to sit in the back of the car so I could lay down and fall asleep more easily, but instead of that, I was staring at Benedict’s side profile.
“You’re beautiful” he declared suddenly.
He kept his eyes on the road but I noticed he was grinning.
“You are beautiful too, and I love your accent” I said sternly and he smiled sweetly, “and I also love your otter face”
He tried not to laugh too much so he couldn’t get distracted.
“You have the otter face… otter face.” He tried to make a good insult and failed.
“You sure it’s me who has that face? Your cumberbitches and probably the rest of the multiverse says it’s you who owns that title, my love”
“It’s cumbercollective” He sighed and rolled his eyes, copying me.
“We all know it is and will always be cumberbitches, get over it Buttercup”
“Not gonna happen”.
“Gonna? It seems like I’m who rules the relationship”.
“You’ve always ruled the relationship”
“I’m glad you’re day by day recognizing facts. Today’s been ‘gonna’, I’m curious about what’s gonna “I laughed hard when I said that” be tomorrow”.
“Oh, shut up”
That night, as we did since the very first time we shared a bed, we slept cuddling, then in the morning our innocent little verbal war continued.

“You can't keep doing this!” You yelled, standing in the living room of 221B.
“It was for a case!” He argued, matching you in volume.
“I don't care if it was for a case Sherlock! I deserve some heads up!” You began to yell expressively with your hands. You expected him to quickly have an excuse or retort, instead you were met with silence as his mouth formed into an ‘O’.
“Oh, so that’s what this is about.” He spoke condescendingly.
“What?” You asked in disbelief. He wasn’t about to turn this around on you.
“It always comes back to this.” He shook his head, and you knew exactly where this was going, to the topic that your previous fights usually landed on.
“Sherlock don’t you dare.” You shake your head, but knowing it was coming anyway.
“You don't approve of this.” He motioned around to his work desk and the kitchen.
“I have been more than supportive of your work. You save people, you help people. But don't you dare tell me that engaging in a fake relationship with some woman without me knowing is ok just because it’s ‘for a case’.” You were practically fuming with anger.
“It was for a case!” He tried to convince you.
“Dammit Sherlock, do I mean nothing to you?” You dropped your arms in defeat.
“Of course not!” He tried to convince you.
“Then you should probably start acting like it.” You lost your angry tone, feeling utterly defeated at how this conversation had gone. You were frankly ready to walk away.
“I love you!” Sherlock reached to take your hands in his, seeing that sad look in your eyes.
“This isn't how you treat people you love!” You yelled once more, ripping your hands from his, “Could you even imagine how I felt, coming here just to see you kissing her-” You could barely finish your sentence as the words got stuck in your throat. It tightened and your eyes began to fill with tears.
“I never meant to hurt you.” Sherlock pleaded.
“Were a little past that,” You muttered, wiping a stray tear, “Maybe they were right.”
“Who?” Sherlock asked with a raised brow.
“Everyone who told me what a fool I was for being with you.” You said, knowing that it would hurt him. You just wanted him to understand the pain he had caused you.
“Y/N...” Sherlock muttered, he looked as if he was on the verge of tears as well.
“No Sherlock, I can't live like this. I can handle the specimens in the fridge. I can handle the clients and your crazy work schedule. But I can't handle this.” You shook your head.
“Y/N I was trying to protect you!” Sherlock yelled, trying to get through to you.
“Protect me from what, Sherlock? Because the only one that hurt me was you.” You spoke through gritted teeth, nearly seething with anger as you grabbed your bag and started to walk towards the door.
“Y/N please don’t go.” He pleaded.
“I can't do this Sherlock.” You shake your head, walking through the doorway.
“Do you love me?” Sherlock asked softly.
“What?” You turned around and asked gently.
“Do you love me?” He said once more slowly, sounding out each word at a time.
“Of course I love you.” You cried.
“Then we can get past this.” He tried to reassure you.
“Can we?” You asked genuinely, almost as if it was a plea, a cry for help.
“I can explain everything. The whole case, why I had to do this. Why I couldn’t tell you my plan.” He was frantic, willing to do anything to stop you from walking through that door and giving up on him.
“It better be one hell of a story.” You shake your head, at your whits end.
“Y/N I swear to god I’d never do anything to hurt you. But if I told you, it could have gotten you killed. I could live with you hating me, with you never wanting to see me again. But I couldn't live with myself if I was the reason that you were killed.” He began to cry, and you knew that he was telling the truth, “Please Y/N you have to understand. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me.” A tear slipped down your cheek as well, because truthfully, he was the best thing that had ever happened to you too,
“I love you. So I’m not just going to walk away. But I’m going to sit here, and you’re going to tell me everything. Every detail of this case, every detail about her, so I don't have to live the rest of my life wondering.” You moved and sat on the couch before him, giving him the chance to explain he’s been begging for.
And he did, every detail. He explained how dangerous Magnussen was and what he did to John. He explained how he knew if Magnussen was willing to go after John, you had to be next. He could have lost you. You were the key to getting to him and that put you in danger. You were his heart, and that meant you were vulnerable. He even explained, at your request, everything that had happened with Janine. He said he would never do anything more than kiss her, and even then it was only a few times for appearances sake. She would know something was up if he didn’t... but it never went farther than that. Part of you was relieved, but another part of you couldn’t get the image out of your head. By the end you were both a crying mess.
“We can get past this, it’s just going to take time...” You nodded.
“I’m so sorry I hurt you.” Sherlock shook his head, hating the pain he had caused you.
“I know. And I know why you did it.” You nodded slowly.
“I love you so much.” Sherlock cried, he was now sitting next to you on the couch, holding your hands in his.
“I love you too, Sherlock.” You wrapped your arms around his neck as he pulled you closer.
If the two of you could get through this... you could get through anything.

Please please please comment and let me know what you think, I know only like three of you will. It’s gotten so discouraging and I don’t know if I’m just getting through all of these requests so I can finally be done because no one seems to care about my series anymore. I’m probably just talking into the void here because everyone’s already scrolled away since the story ended and all you care about is free content and not the writer. Idk why I even post on here anymore.

Adaptation
Author: @sabine-leo
Pairing: Tom Hiddleston / ofc (You) special guest Benedict Cumberbatch
Wordcount: 4980
Warnings: none. Maybe just watch out for cavity ;)
Summary: Your first novel became a bestseller and will be adapted to the big screen. Slightly out of your comfort zone you try to do your best as a 27 year old writer who is not accustomed to being the centre of attention.
Note: This was a whish from @anchored-in-high-tide for her win in my 1k follower raffle! I do hope I did your idea justice !! Thank you for your trust!!!
Feeling totally out of your comfort zone you stepped into the room anyway. Your book and a notepad tightly held against your chest in which your heart hammered slightly out of beat you took a seat and tried to calm yourself down with a deep breath. This was not your natural place to be. You liked closed rooms, not that you were claustrophobic but you preferred them with less…people. If someone had told you about a good year and a half ago how your life would change in just a month time and at the age of 27 you would have laughed and asked which meds they´d taken… But here you were, in a room full of important people whom had bought the rights to your FIRST published book that had become a phenomenon in weeks. Gladly you´d had the wits to demand to be included in every decision and get a veto on everything regarding the storyline and possible changes. It was not easy to negotiate with them but in the end, they really did want to adept your book for the big screen and said yes to your proposal. You got to work on the script with some very talented writers and actually had a lot of fun doing that. NOW the part started where you were a lot more uncomfortable or better put nervous about.
“Let´s put faces to the characters you envisioned, shall we?”
The casting director said and smiled at you.
Here we go… you thought and took a last calming breath.
In your head it was easy to envision the needed characters but in real life, not so much. You had seen some great actors for different roles and you knew that with cosmetics and wigs there could be done a lot to make sure they fit the bill but you wanted it to feel right. There was just one last role to cast and it was the most significant one to you. The actors you had seen so far did a good job but the spark was missing; The feeling of them getting the essence of the character and being able to add depth to it and not just perfectly saying the words in the script.
The door opened again as you were doodling something onto your notepad
“Hello…” a deep voice resonated through the room.
“…My name is Tom and I would like to audition for the role of Matthew. “
You looked up and…did a double take. A soft chuckle came your way and he smilingly corrected the placement of his glasses. The casting director got her wits back together faster than you and asked.
“Mr. Hiddleston, we are honoured to meet you but you want WHAT?”
Tom grinned and repeated himself. “I want to audition for the role of Matthew.”
Looking around you were the only one who still was starstruck. The other faces were just looking flabbergasted at TOM HIDDLESTON who wanted to AUDITION.
“Frankly put, I think we are not able to meet your normal payroll…” The director said with a little blush on his face. Tom smiled and pointed to an empty chair. “May I?” He asked politely and sat down as he saw a silent nod coming from you.
“I know this is an independent film and a smaller studio but that should not be the problem. I am deeply in love with this book and especially how Matthew is portrait. I´d love to take him on and if I may be frank as well. I´d be willing to co-produce and work some of my contacts to get us what we need to do justice to the book.” Tom looked at you and smiled. God, you wanted to hide behind your notepad as you felt a blush coming up. He met all the things you wanted for Matthew. He was tall, handsome and his eyes could say what words often could not. This man in front of you was able to tell a story with his body language and eyes alone.
NO. WORDS. NEEDED!
You loved the movies he had made so far and had seen him on stage too. Besides his -no doubt- very good looks he had a sharp mind and was well read and eloquent. A deadly combination if you were concerned.
Tom took another breath. “I know you probably have to discuss my second proposal first. But please, let me at least audition and show you what I have prepared.” His charming smile hit you again. Jesus, one could think you were a writer that put all her words on paper and was not able to form a single coherent sentence out loud.
Get a grip! You ordered yourself and cleared your throat.
“I… I´m sorry. Hi, my name is (Y/N)…”
Tom stood to take your outstretched hand.
“I know who you are (Y/N)…you are the Author to this delightful book.”
The both of you shook hands and Tom looked at you as you tried to get your mouth to form more words while your brain was sending out misleading impulses. For one it sent out shock that HE KNEW YOU. Then it sent out a tingle up your arm because of you and him shaking hands. You were pretty sure your brain went haywire inside your skull screaming THAT`S TOM HIDDLESTON!!!
You really needed to get a grip NOW! Telling yourself that he might run any second if you would continue to look dumbfounded at him and somebody else had to play Matthew did the trick.
“Please, it would be my pleasure to hear you speak Matthew´s words.”
Well, that went rather well after the clusterfuck inside your head.
Tom smiled and nodded. He stepped away from the chair and closed his eyes for a second. You could see his shoulders slumping, his posture getting more sunk in and less easy going. He started to pace the room in slow and not forceful small steps, ruffling his hair and looking out a non-existent window. His eyes watered as he gulped and began to talk.
Hearing his voice break and sound so vulnerable alone made you choke up yourself.
“How long do I have to continue to walk the earth? For how much longer will I be my broken, incomplete self? I was promised that the part of my soul I gave up would come back to me…” He sat down and rested his head in his hands. “I am tired of feeling half empty, of needing to try to fill this…void inside my chest.” Abruptly he stood up and the chair fell over. You saw his face changing from sad to angry in a split-second. “I`M DONE YOU HEAR ME!” He yelled, then repeated the same sentence in a low, menacing voice. “I am done….you hear me!”
It was not only you who sat there, staring at Tom as he changed back from Matthew to himself and smiled a little nervous. He picked up the chair and sat down again, awaiting a response. It surprisingly was you that found her voice again first. “Wow, I mean…” You cleared your throat. “…why did you choose THIS scene out of all you could have prepared?” Tom smiled and wet his lips while pushing up his glasses another time. “I picked that scene in particular because It…to me…shows the emotional uproar of Matthew and his feelings in a very short amount of time. He is lonely and sad but also very angry to the core of his being. In this scene he lets it all out in the safeness of a room bereft of people before walking out and playing a role in his own life that he wants everybody to see.”
His words resonated so deeply inside you that you wanted to hug him for getting the essence of who Matthew really was and saying it out loud! But all you got out was “Thank you!”
Tom smiled at you and inclined his head. “No, thank you for writing such an intriguing story.”
The casting director laughed still a little awestruck. There were glances thrown at each other with smiles and enthusiastic nods. “Well, I guess that settles it then. There will be nobody that can top what we have seen just now. I think I do speak for everybody at this table when I say. Welcome on board Mr. Hiddleston!” Toms eyes lit up. “Just Tom, please!”
He seemed genuinely happy to be able to give life to this character.
“As producer of this film…” Josh stood up and held out his hand “…I´d say I would be dumb not to let you co-produce. So, buckle up you are in for a ride!” Tom grinned and shook hands with Josh.
“Let´s meet tomorrow to go over everything you have scheduled so far and get into details.” Tom suggested and they exchanged numbers. You stood, ready to get out of this room and breathe some fresh air after a long day.
“(Y/N)…” Tom said and stopped you with his hand reaching out to touch your arm. You looked into his soft blue eyes and smiled. “…If you´d be willing to let me pick your brain about Matthew over dinner- I´d love to treat you to it. I do have one or two questions…” Your stomach gave a little rumble and you and Tom started to laugh. “I take that as a yes…”
He opened the door and bowed a little. “After you!”
God damn, that charming smile again. Well, you´d just need to think of it as a work meeting like the ones you had had before with the script writers.
An hour later Tom and you sat in a little restaurant he had recommended, not far from the West-End Theatres you loved so dearly. Central London was still busy but inside this restaurant and engulfed in a lively discussion about the characters in your book you were oblivious to it. After overcoming your first shocked state at seeing him you found him very easy to talk to. It was no hardship to keep the conversation flowing, even as it drifted away from Matthew and got a little more personal. Tom asked what had inspired you to write the book, what gave you the idea.
“If I say it came to me in a dream, I would sound so stereotypical…” You laughed and took a sip of your sparkling water. Tom chuckled and shrugged.
“If I order tea after dinner, I am stereotypical too. I don´t think it´s necessarily a bad thing.”
The food was amazing and tasted very good. Tom smiled as he saw you close your eyes at the first taste. “Walking into that room I thought I lost you for a second!” He grinned teasingly.
“Well, have you seen yourself walking into that room? I am a little bookaholic who is not accustomed to meet actors whose work I adored for a long time now.” Tom grinned at your words and took another bite of his meal to hide his own blush after your compliment.
“Plus…” you said “…I am rather out of my comfort zone doing all this.”
Tom tilted his head. “What exactly is your comfort zone then?”
Thinking about it for a moment you answered him.
“My desk where I wrote half of the book you are now co-producing…or that one tree in Regents Park where I wrote the other half…” you laughed. Tom leaned back in his chair.
“Did you sit in the tree while writing or leaned against it? I am just asking because I frequently run through this park and need to know if I need to be aware of you threatening to drop onto me when I don´t do your character justice or if you just stick out your leg and let me trip.” A snorted out laugh escaped you and you clutched your hand over your mouth afterwards. Tom laughed as well and all the tension you might have felt somewhere inside depleted in favour of enjoying a dinner with him, talking about what made him and you tick.
Later, as you lay in bed you couldn´t help but wonder if this day really had happened. Gasping out a laugh you closed your eyes and shook your head. “Some day” you said to yourself before drifting off into your colourful dreamworld.
The next weeks you were busy starting to write your new novel and only kept track of some things in pre-production that needed your attention. It wasn´t until 4 weeks after the casting that you met Tom again as you walked into the first round table meeting to discuss the first week of filming. Starting in 3 days’ time, there were still some things to discuss and you needed to go over some monologue / dialog changes Tom had requested. Tom stood from his chair and pulled back the one next to him. “(Y/N), so good to see you again.” You smiled and dropped your bag onto the table before Tom pulled you in for a friendly hug. Near your ear he said
“I found myself running a lot more through Regents Park lately…but sadly I haven´t been able to find your tree!” Grinning he pulled back and looked into your eyes.
“I might need a map or a big red X on the spot please.” You laughed and sat down with a little blush but before you could answer the door opened and it was like history repeating itself. There you were, doing a double take, staring at a tall and handsome men who smiled at you. Tom leaned in a little. “Am I losing you again?” a deep chuckle before he stood and hugged the man who just had walked in. “Ben, meet (Y/N).” Benedict Cumberbatch held out his hand and grinned as he saw your still stunned face. “Hi (Y/N), I´m Ben. My friend Tom here told me you needed a narrator for some parts of the movie. I loved the book!” You shook hands with Benedict and Tom laughed.
“You loved the book after I practically forced you to read it.”
Ben huffed. “Doesn´t mean I don´t love it!” Ben looked at you. “And to be honest, he really was resilient. I was reading 4 scripts at the time and had no desire to read a book in between. Tom read some parts to me while we were on a press tour together and I was intrigued.” Ben took the seat to your other side and smiled. “So, here I am!”
Yeah, there he was….and there YOU were, sitting in the middle of Tom Hiddleston and Benedict Cumberbatch watching them bicker with each other like one would watch a tennis game. You probably had whiplash by the end of the day.
3 hours later you had not only a dooming whiplash lurking for you around the corner but also a skin that felt to tight for all the feelings 2 of the most beautiful voices on earth made you feel by speaking out words you had written. You blew out a breath and stood.
“Can we catch a short break, please?!” Not awaiting an answer, you walked out into the little garden and took a deep breath. Leaning against a tree you closed your eyes and tried to calm your senses.
Not ready for the “Everything alright (Y/N)?” That hit your system like a wildfire and made goose bumps rise on your arms. The soft touch to your hand shot another jolt through it. Opening your eyes to look into purest blue with a hint of concern in them you mustered a nod.
“Just needed some fresh air….” Tom raised a brow and looked inquiringly at you. “Try again!” He said. Closing your eyes and sliding down the tree trunk you sat in the grass.
“I was not prepared to hear my words coming out of your mouth like that!”
Tom looked confused but sat down next to you with less space you were equipped to handle just now. “Did I get the words wrong?” He asked and continued to look at you. You instantly shook your head. “No! NO! You got them right! Very, very right. It hit me right here!” You put your hand above your heart and looked into his eyes. Tom began to smile. Slowly he took hold of your hand and guided it onto his chest. “Your book hit me right here too, so it is my duty to get the words out in a way that makes you feel them like I felt reading them!” His warm hand captured your hand between his and his chest. You felt his heart beating in a steady rhythm that was soothing and thrilling at the same time. His eyes held yours in a soft but deep gaze before you had to look away, fixing your stare onto your touching hands. Tom smiled to himself and put a wayward strand of hair behind your ear with his fingertips. “Should I mess up for the last pages?” He asked with a little laugh in his voice.
Your gaze shot up and you narrowed your eyes. “Are you trying to mock me?” Tom grinned and held up both his hands which made your hand slide down his chest a little before you retreated it.
“Actually, I have something else on my mind entirely…”
Now it was you looking inquiringly at him but Tom only grinned and stood up, holding out his hands to help you to your feet. “Let´s get back inside…” You took his hands and Tom tugged a little to hard. By the way he grinned it was very much deliberately done as he grabbed you with one arm to steady you after you hit his chest with yours. “Oops…”
You had no control over your reaction to it, you just acted and pinched his side. “Ooops!” You said too and walked back inside for another hour of sensual voice torture! Tom stared after you and grinned. Yes, there was chemistry between the both of you. Very much so! He had not only imagined it after the dinner the both of you had shared some weeks ago.
The rest of the meeting went by with him trying to rill you up with his voice and seemingly accidentally touching your hand, back, leg whenever he got the chance and you throwing him glares and pinching his leg under the table. Ben was trying his best not to grin when he made you lean more towards Tom by grabbing Toms bottle of water. “Sorry. Mines empty!”
Damn them!
In the evening of this day your phone signalled a message.
Tom: Good evening Darling! Just a warning: Voice message incoming. Tom
You: How did you get my number?
Tom: Darling, I am the co-producer *wink*
The next incoming message was the voice message. You hit play and a soft, warm and very sexy voice read a passage of monologue from Matthew where he had written a letter to the missing part of his soul. God, his voice was heavenly. Bolder because of the physical distance between him and you you wrote.
You: Are you trying to torture me?
Tom: Absolutely not! I just wanted your input on how to express that part of the script!
You could not help but visualize his smug grin while he typed that answer. Writing back, you to smiled.
You: Was alright…
Tom: Just alright?! One moment…
4 minutes later another voice message came in. Same text spoken with a little more desperateness in the right spots.
Tom: That better?
You: a little…
Tom: Are you trying to torture me?!
You: Absolutely not! I just wanted to give you input on how to express that part of the script!
Another voice message came in.
“Darling, I think you are paying me back for this afternoon.” His voice got a little deeper.
“I like your feistiness. For now, sleep well…” When you thought his voice could not get any sexier, he said “…be prepared for a one on one training tomorrow! Meet me in Regents Park, Queen Mary´s Rose Garden at 10am…” He had the audacity to chuckle low at the end of his message.
God, you were falling head first into the deep end!!
The next morning you found yourself marvel at the beautiful flowers inside the garden when 2 big hands came around your back to enclose over your eyes.
“Hello Darling!” He said near your ear and you felt his heat radiating from his chest onto your back. Toms hands came to rest on your shoulders and softly turned you into a hug.
“Hey Tom!” You said and smiled up to him with a soft blush reddening your cheeks. Tom only slowly let go of you and took a deep breath.
“You gave me a sleepless night!”
He said with what should have been a stern look but ended in a grin.
“Serves you right for the stunts you pulled on me yesterday!” Tom laughed and shrugged innocently. “I do not know what you are talking about!”
“Well, then I too don´t know what you are implying!” You started to walk before adding.
“You needed private teaching for Matthews letters to the lost part of his soul?”
Tom watched you and said under his breath “I need private teaching in a lot of things where you are concerned!” before saying loud enough for you to hear. “Yes…I do hope you have cleared your schedule for today!” Smiling you walked the gardens and Tom and you eased into a conversation about Matthew and his letters for starters. Somewhere in between Tom had softly taken your hand into his while walking deeper into the vibrant flowers to find a hidden bench that was in the heart of the garden. You could not recall how long the both of you sat on that bench, but it was a while. Your conversation all about work, but your body language was talking about something else entirely. Tom flung one of his long legs behind you, resting it on the bench to tug you in between and against his chest. “Ok?” He asked softly and stroked down one arm to let it come to rest against your belly. You nodded and slowly got comfortable in his arms while he continued the conversation as if nothing personal was happening just now. After a while Tom took a deeper breath and asked.
“Will you be on set for the whole leg of filming?”
You turned your head slightly to be able to look at him.
“I don´t know yet, why?”
Tom smiled a little and said. “I do like your company…” A soft laugh escaped you before you answered. “Well, they way we are sitting on this bench does not allow me to differ with your statement!” Tom chuckled and winked playfully before tugging you even closer against his chest.
The next 3 weeks passed in much the same manner. Tom, whenever he was between filming scenes, found you wherever you where on set (mostly not far from him because it was wonderful to watch him act) to talk to you and share some physical contact. It differed between hugs, closeness in general and holding hands while walking to a different set. The two of you growing close and getting to know each other better and better. The way he brought Matthew to live was phenomenal. He carried the scenes with such ease and deep knowing of the character that you only could watch in awe. Never did he struggle to give the emotional depth needed, he literally poured his heart into this film as you had poured your heart into the book.
The last day of filming started pretty early as you needed to be in a particular street in London. This was the last big scene. The scene where Matthew found the missing part of his soul, the one he had given up a lifetime ago. The frame was set to see Tom walking towards the camera with an intense gaze, the closer he came the more you could see that he was watching something with tears in his eyes, with a sense of understanding that THIS had kept on drawing him closer and closer. His stare made place for a slow spreading smile that lit up his whole face before he stepped out of the shot and towards the part of his soul.
Tom watched the material shot so far and was in a deep discussion with the director as you entered the tent that was set up to watch the screens. “I don´t think that this is the ending this film needs. The book gives away what he has been searching for the whole time…” Tom said and the director considered his words carefully. “I thought it would be better to leave it open for interpretation, but I do get what you are saying. Let´s do an alternate version with your ideas!”
Tom nodded and grinned as he saw you coming closer. “There you are. I need your help!”
He grabbed your hand and tugged you to the make-up section and sat you down in a chair.
“I need you to act as my counterpart. The part I walk towards to.”
You stared at him with wide open eyes. “I can´t act! I am a writer!”
Tom smiled. “Just concentrate on me, look into my eyes the whole time. You know the characters better than anyone. You can do it!”
Before you could say anything else you got prepped and pampered. Half an hour later Tom walked with you onto set. “See this red X? That´s your comfort zone!” He grinned as you shot him a dirty look. “Just stay there and think about her and Matthew finally finding each other again.”
Tom walked back to his spot and concentrated for a moment before nodding to the director. This scene was shot from to sides. Toms and yours. Tom walked towards you with wonder and emotion in his gaze. You could feel your own throat close up as you thought about the characters that you knew so well, how they finally got to be together again. Matthew gave up a part of his soul to keep her alive, his soulmate, only to lose all knowledge of her until their paths crossed again and he would FEEL deep inside himself that she was it!
Tom stood now directly before you. A tear dropped out of his eyes but the smile he gave you was the brightest you have ever seen on a human. A shaking hand touched your cheek while you stared up into his eyes. The breath he took in was trembling. He closed his eyes and rested his forehead against yours while your arms came around his waist. Tom opened his eyes and smiled before his head tilted to the side and slowly closed the distance to find your lips with his. The director yelled cut.
Tom took in a sharp breath and looked into your eyes intensely.
“That was brilliant, the both of you did great!” The director said but Tom held up his hand and said
“Give us a moment please!” His eyes never let go of yours. Your hands fisted in his shirt as your whole body tingled because of his gaze, his touch, his nearness.
“Darling, I need to do this again…as me, as Tom!” He breathed and dipped his head again.
Your lips met and the same tingling sensation now started where your lips met and shot like a lightning strike through your system. Toms hand waved itself through your hair to the back of your head. He pressed you closer and your lips parted in a soft gasp. He took it as an invitation and let his tongue slip in to play with yours in a soft tangle of wet strokes and playful teases before he gaspingly broke loose. “I have wanted to do that for weeks!” he rasped and grinned. You started to chuckle and rested your head against his chest to hide your blush. But yeah, you felt the same!!
Weeks later you nervously walked the red carpet at the premier of the movie. Ben had accompanied you for a little part of it as well as the director. Some meters ahead you saw Tom giving an interview. He looked so good in his suit. Your attention on him before a reporter started to bombard you with questions. “It must be wonderful to see your vision come to life on screen! How do you feel? Is this film doing justice to your book?”
Smiling because you finally knew an answer to a question you laughed.
“I am very happy with the result, the director and the producers as well as the whole cast did an amazing job staying true to the book and adapting it without much loss of its essence.”
Tom joined you and gave you a bright smile as you praised the work.
“Let me tell you, without (Y/N) being involved in writing the script we probably would have done a lot worse.” You laughed out loud but rolled your eyes. “He´s to damn modest!”
The interviewer grinned and shot another question at you.
“You have a tip for any aspiring writer out there?”
Thinking for a moment you said.
“Never give up…and put your heart into your work! I poured my heart into this book”
Tom grinned and said while turning you into his arms.
“And I was the one who picked it up!”
Before everybody, every camera, every person who was watching you he tilted you back and gave you a kiss that left no question about who you were to him!
Whispering against your lips he grinned.
“I intend to keep it. Not only Matthew got his happy end…I did too!”

They're always asking for proof whenever someone says something nice about Sophie. But it's something negative? They'll act like it's the gospel truth from the start.
There are legal documents attesting that the Cumberbatch kids are real and that both Ben and Sophie are their biological parents. But the septics refuse to accept they're real. There's absolutely nothing that proves V is real, yet they act like she's a real person and not a figment of their deranged imagination. Make it make sens.

A) Sophie never took credit for another's work. That's something the sQeptics made up using their lack of basic reading comprehension.
B) The opera world is rather small. Friends end up hiring each other all the time. It's called networking. If the music director didn't think she'd be up to it, he wouldn't have hired her. The sQeptics sure love to ignore the fact that the show was a success.
There's something very wrong when a bunch of grown women create an imaginary friend rather than simply accept reality. That's something children do, not adults.
