Small backstory on photo, and headcanons undercut

Ok so first backstory for photo:

So, basically splinter normally stays up and wait for his children return, that being when Lav comes to get him a report. His kids had been on some sort of mission that has kept them up a lot(which explains the eye bags). This time however, it was dangerous close daylight and he had not seen sight of his eldest or heard from the others so went to investigate when he came upon this scene. He thought the moment was too good and took a photo which was later added to his album (that Mikey got him into, not wanting him to be bored while they were out). Stickers was added by Mikey (tho Raph draw them and Donnie got them printed)

And now on to sleepy headcanons for my au

Starting with the eldest, she tends to drool in her sleep and she does do the coffin pose when sleeping(like in canon) except when her hands are preoccupied by your siblings. She is a extremely light sleeper which doesn't pair well with her insomnia. Most times, she is the one hanging out with Donnie in his lab when she is too sleep-deprived to drag him to bed.

Next Raph, he snored in the sleep and will denied no matter what proof is provided(Mika recorded him once to prove he does snore). He also has a reflex to grab everything and anything placed in his hand. (Which makes it hard for Mika to properly pull the whip cream prank on him since he just kinda squash it in his hand the moment it's put in his hand)

Next Donnie, they are very cuddly. When they fall asleep in the pit or in their bed(a rare occurrence), they will grab the closest person/thing beside them and let me tell you, when they grab you, you best believe you are not going anywhere until they wake up again. Donnie has a ridiculously strong grip in their sleep so to prevent them from trapping the person next to them everytime, they(their siblings) give them a pillow to sit with, in case they do fall asleep(Donnie like the extra weight in his lap and it's a headrest as a bonus). They claim they won't, but with their non-existent sleep schedule, yeah they definitely will. Another fact is that Donnie whistles in their sleep due to the gap in their teeth.

Now the youngest, Mikey/Mika, they are a wild sleeper. Some position he get himself into make you question what he's dreaming about. He also sleeps like the dead and only Lav and Splinter can successfully wake him with no trouble(Donnie and Raph still wonder how). He always has the wildest dreams and takes joy in rambling about it while they having breakfast .

As said before Lav has insomnia while Donnie is just a workaholic who purposely ignore their body's need for sleep.

Sometimes Lav will drag Donnie from their lab to her room to rest when he's overworking themselves (mama lav for the win) She only does this with them because Raph has no trouble going to bed(he values his sleep cause he rather be dead than be sluggish during a fight) and Mikey usually falls asleep despite how many attempts she makes to stay up all night(Lav also carry her to her room when she ends up falling asleep in the pit)

I have about ten skrillion rottmnt aus that I don't talk about and all of them have different gender combos but I'll just talk about vanilla rottmnt.

Mikey: he/she bigender. I think it's fun. That's my reason lol

Raph: he/him cis simply because I think he has enough problems without me heaping gender crisis on him <3. My aus are a different story though

Donnie: he/him OR he/they depending on the day. He's nonbinary in both cases though

Leo: he/him cis. I think it's more funny if he's just like. A shithead teen boy who is SO supportive of his siblings genders. He did have a gender crisis but came out of it cis

The 2012 boys are all cis except Mikey. She's a she/her transfem because well. I don't know I think it came to me in a dream. I know 2012 transfem Leo is like. The Thing but idk it's just funnier to me if he's just like. Stumbling his way through his siblings gender shit and trying to be So Cool about it but has no fucking clue what's going on

It's very complicated with the 2003 boys because it was 2003 and I have to take that into context. I think Donnie and Raph are some flavor of nonbinary but have no words to put to it so it just doesn't get talked about. Leo is cis and so is Mikey HOWEVER Mikey is also gnc.

I been thinking about my turtle gender+sexuality headcanons (the ones I am reasonably familiar with)

To start, 2003:

Leonardo: I see him as transmasc, most likely coming out in early childhood by simply requesting that his family refer to him as a boy like his brothers, no fanfair. Probably gay, but I can swing bi/panromantic. I like him on the asexual spectrum. He seems most interested in people who can hold their own in a fight, as well as those with some kind of authority. Subby as fuck.

Raphael: Almost stereotypically masculine, you might think Raph is cis, but I see him more as bigender or a transwoman. She is unaware of this, and will never have any kind of egg moment on his own. Needs Donny to literally remind her that Leo transitioned when they were kids. Bi with heavy gay leaning. Wants a partner who can kick his ass.

Donatello: The rare cis turtle, demiromantic or aromantic pan. Sees sex more as a platonic bonding activity, would probably like a qpr.

Michelangelo: My boy hasn't seen a gender she doesn't like, whether that be for identity or dating. Very fluid in how they see both xirself and the world. I do prefer he/him for Mikey, but I also feel that he wouldn't give a fuck what pronouns are used.

2012 up next

Leonardo: I love transfem Leo with my heart and soul (big shock, I know), however this turtle is a veritable playground for identity headcanons. Leo can be read as transfem, transmasc, bigender, agender or really anything you can think of. Will be supremely insecure about this, even when no one else cares. Sexuality wise, Leo is into you as long as you're related to her able to kick her ass.

Raphael: Can be read as either transfem or transmasc, although I'm personally fond of masc. He'd prefer a woman who will kick his ass before pampering him, or a guy he can bully.

Donatello: Donatello desperately wants to be seen as "normal," to the point of refusing to acknowledge that he is both masc nonbinary and bi.

Michelangelo: Once again our pan king, Mikey will fall in love with most people within minutes of meeting them, even if that is very obviously a bad idea. Dtf whenever, but I actually think Mikey would see sex as just a fun thing to do, rather than something to be actively desired. Prefers a more masc identity, although whether that is as a cis guy or trans varies by the day.

Rise!

Leonardo: A gay transman, big shock I know. Like I don't even think that's a headcanon, I'm pretty sure that's just canon (fight me). I actually think this boy wants an authority figure more than any other Leo, and probably wants to be bullied and praised in equal amounts.

Raphael: I actually see him as cis, but I have seen the transfem art, and see the appeal. Pan as hell, with a preference for the cute and badass. Would probably also like an older partner who could kick his ass.

Donatello: Transmasc nonbinary and living it without shame. Bi, with preference for women.

Michelangelo: "Gender is optional, orange is not" quote stolen from rayshippouuchiha's Naruto Don't Gender Good au. I just think it fits him really well. Ace/aro, but loves the concept of love, just for other people. Arolovic.

So um I’ve been watching Tmnt 2012 and I thought about what if the 2012 gang were all different species like in Rottmnt plus some gender headcannons so here you go

Raphael is a common snapping turtle and bi-gender (because I stan bigender Raph in all iterations). Partly inspired by his Rise counterpart, but common snappers are more aggressive than alligator snappers thus it fits her.

I noticed Leo’s model has some white spots, so I made Leo a spotted pond turtle. Also transfem Leo real‼️🗣️

Donnie is already tall in this iteration so why not make him taller. Credit to @/kikipups.draws for the idea to make them a Roti-island snake-necked turtle. I headcannon Donnie is a Demi boy.

I made Mikey a high orange Mississippi map turtle because they’re a pretty species and I’m happy with how she came out. Also gender-fluid Mikey because yes.

They all still have their weapons, I just didn’t feel like drawing them 🙃

Okay so I just got an ide for a ROTTMNT/TMNT 2012 crossover fanfic but I'm shit at writing so uhm here's the idea if anyone wants to write it. If you do write it please credit me/tag me/message me lol. You don't have to ask for permission just like, make sure I know about it/can read it thamks

Anyway, the actual idea is as follows:

Okay okay so it's set post-movie (like a few months later ) and everyone's recovering and healing their trauma and all that right? So they're all doing pretty ok but Leo's doing like worse than the others ptsd/mentally-wise and is very wary about like the concept of time/dimension travel.

So, Raph, Mikey and Donnie, being the good brothers they are, don't being up the topic around him, but they talk about it when he's not around cuz Donnie's making a multi-dimensional gun because since he's proved time travel, he also wants to prove dimensional travel.

Anyway so he finishes the gun, right? And so he takes his brothers (minus Leo) to test it out somewhere secluded. And it works!! And alternate veraions of him, his brothers, April, Splinter and even Casey (all 2012 mind you) come through the portal!! And everyones confused and excited so they introduce themselves and clear everything up and all that. So then the 2012 gang turn around to go home but the portal closed and the gun's not working for whatever reason. Shit.

Raph offers they stay with them, and then Mikey reminds them of Leo and everyone (-2012) is like 'Oh shit what are we gonna do'

And so they decide on a plan. The 2012 gang are going to stay in their lair until they find a way to send them back and tell Rise! Splinter about it, but make sure Rise! Leo, under NO CIRCUMSTANCE, finds out.

And the whole fanfic is them trying to navigate life while keeping the 2012 gang a secret from Rise Leo

In the end (think like a month more or less later) Leo finds out and freaks out but like a week later Rise Donnie sends them back to their universe so yeah. The Rise gang did get the 2012 gang's phone numbers tho so possible chatfic about that too??? Idk

After seeing so many other people come up with their own cool and interesting original versions of TMNT, I wanted to give it a try of my own!! I pulled a bit of inspo from Rise and 2012, but these are still my own original versions and storyline! tentatively calling it “TMNT: Family Bonds“ unless i come up with something better.

My current plan is still VERY MUCH A WIP, and i don’t have any official art or designs yet, but have some semblance of a timeline worked out, as well as a couple major plot points. Some things worth noting now are

Venus is included in the turtle siblings

The turtles were intentionally mutated in this version

Yokai exist in this version and they’re different from mutants

some of the major consistent characters (shredder/krang) will be here, other villains and side characters will be made by me

Mikey and Venus are the “twins” in this version, not Leo and Donnie
