Hey hey!!! long time no see!!! I've come back from the dead to tell you that... I'm working on a personal comic with my best friend!! it's called BINARY OBLIVION, a cyberpunk-inspired comic with tons of cyborgs and corruption and (gay) stuff. The blog we're using to post it is the following:

CH 1 PART 1

November 23rd, 2177 - Eplya, Zloasted

They were running out of resources, but the cause was far more important. They were making giant strides, and it seemed like everything was moving along a path filled with hope.

Every day, more and more people joined. People fed up with that shitty society, where the rich stood at the top and the less fortunate were devoured.

Today, the mission was simple: steal a generator.

They were building mini bazookas and needed to replicate some kind of engine model...

Team 3, a family of five, was in charge of the mission. Their destination? Branch 99 of the GeneSys Biotech Corp.

Jack: Yeah, yeah! I can't go any faster than this!

He kept mashing the buttons on his old laptop like crazy. He was in charge of sabotaging the security of the facility, and at just 16 years old, he had once again managed to outsmart his tough target.

All that was left was to keep the cameras inoperable until the rest of the team got out of there.

Rebecca: You have to keep up!! Who knows if those idiots have a firewall!!

She… well, she was the mother of the young prodigy, and the leader of their squad.

The eldest of her siblings, she had earned the respect of many for her resilience.

Jack: they did

Rebecca: hehehe, that's my boy!

Rebecca: you don't know how lucky we are to have you, Bubu óvò

Both their headphones started ringing...

Dean: BECCA!!! BECCA!!!

Rebecca: What’s happening???

Dean: We have a problem!!! There are three more passwords. Can Jack reach our range???

Jack: What's wrong? o.o

Dean: Do you have the map for the second floor?

Jack: Duh, what's the matter?

Dean: We have a door with a Ghost-model screen... It’s asking for three passwords with letters and numbers.

Jack: What the fuck?

Sigh... He started preparing an attack mechanism, trying to generate a mutable code that could crack the obstacle passwords.

After all, there was a pattern. It wouldn’t be too hard. ûvû

Rebecca: Do we have time...?

Dean: Uh... I'd say yes, yes...

Jack: You do. -Rolled his eyes...

"Sigh C'mon, just a little more..."

Rebecca: Is it the storage room door...?

Dean: Yeah, the engine should be in here.

Jack: Try now o.o!

Dean: o.o... -Entered a few digits...-

Dean: HEHE, WE DID IT—

Rebecca: It was an antivirus. We’re leaving, NOW!!!

Dean: SIGH—JUDAS, SALEM!!! LET'S GO!!! CAN YOU HEAR ME???

Judas: YEAH, WE’RE ALREADY HEADING OUT!!

Officer: STOP RIGHT THERE, INTRUDERS!!! -he pulled a weapon from his belt!!!

Jack: GASP- M-MOM—

Rebecca: RUN!!! MEET US AT THE EXIT, JUST RUN!!! -She pulled out her own weapon as well!

Jack: O-O

He grabbed everything as fast as he could and took off running!!

How could he?? Did he really mess up?? Was GeneSys Biotech too big of a fish?? There was supposed to be no fence in the world he couldn’t jump over!!!

ATTENTION, ATTENTION! ALERT PROTOCOL ACTIVATED! INTRUDERS DETECTED ON FLOORS 1 AND 2, ATTENTION, ALERT!!

Rebecca: FUUUUUCK!!! DEAN, CAN YOU HEAR ME???

Dean: BE- -static- BECC- -cut off

Rebecca: H-huh??? -She smacked her earpiece...- Eh? What the hell???

Officer: HANDS UP!!!!

Judas: O.O -BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!

He killed the officer with the first shot!!!

Rebecca: JUDAS!!! SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH MY EARPIECE!!!

Judas: There’s static everywhere, we need to get out of range. o.o

Salem: Where’s Jack? o-o

Rebecca: I-I told him to run to the exit!

Rebecca: He has his own map, he’ll make it!

Judas: Then let’s go already. Once we’re out of the static zone, we’ll be able to reconnect. o.o

Salem: M-mh! -he started running toward the back exit!!

Rebecca: L-let’s go then! -She took off running as well!!!!

Meanwhile...

Jack, muttering: Fuck fuck fuck!!

He ran down the stai— GASP!

Jack: o-o -He quickly hid behind the wall...

There were too many guards down there. What was he going to do? What should he do? What if he messed up again? What if he went the wrong way? Would he be able to escape? Shit shit shit—

Jack looked up, listening carefully to the voice.

Jack, muttering: Biobot... what?

One of the gates in the long corridor B slid open... Heavy metallic footsteps echoed through the walls...

ATTENTION!! BIOBOT RELEASED!! EMPLOYEES, REMEMBER: VALUABLE CARGO, DO NOT DAMAGE!! ATTENTION!! BIOBOT RELEASED!!

Jack, whispering: OH FUCK—

NOPE. NOOOOPE. THIS WAS OUT OF HIS JURISDICTION.

Without hesitation, he fired at the grate in the ceiling, using the wall to push himself up, scrambling into the ventilation system!!

The heavy metallic footsteps moved forward, slow and deliberate...

That thing... raised one of its arms...

And fired straight at the vents.

It is genuinely insane to me the degree to which your involvement in the DTWF vs Homestuck poll has been telephoned into oblivion in such a (relatively) short amount of time. I'm a pretty new Tumblr user so when I started hearing "plaidos is racist" I assumed it was a result of OLD transmisogynist rumor-mongering as opposed to spawning from an event I bore direct witness to. It's especially baffling given how you were one of the only people in that flurry who was actively calling out the fact that Bechdel was ALSO very much racist!

it was telephoned into oblivion literally as it was happening because this website is full of cryptoterfs. the DTWOF/Homestuck fiasco is especially nuts because it proved that not only does nobody actually care whether or not Andrew Hussie is racist because everybody saying that in this case was also adamantly denying literally any of the decades long criticisms of Alison Bechdel (including the fact that she’s, you know, still friends with a bunch of terfs, went to Michfest for years and still talks about it like it was this beautiful wombyn’s event free of icky XY chromosomes etc). like it was very very clear that nobody involved had any interest in criticising racism in the comics sphere because they were totally just using the (justifiable) criticisms of Homestuck to smear a trans person in comparison to the historically racist & transphobic Alison Bechdel.

multiple people told me to kill myself because i said that Andrew, a non-binary person coercively assigned male who has published a visual novel about gender & transition, has more interesting things to say about gender than a liberal cis lesbian whose art peaked in the 90s. people were very very adamant that it was disgusting, evil & homophobic for me to say that a trans person coercively assigned male might have more interesting things to say about gender than a cis butch woman. yknow, because they’re a bunch of terfs just like Alison Bechdel is

If I weren't one of their favorite targets, I could even feel #sorry for this entire bunch of #silly people, who are now legitimately freaking out in public silence and inbox mischief. All of this just because their basic, binary tropes (S is a cheap scammer, C is an intangible saint) are seemingly being shaken to the core by what yes, is a very interesting and ironic plot twist. Granted, this is still an OL-ish related event, but it is just not your usual sort of event (a con, a panel, a promo-related interview) and it happens just as shooting is now completely over. It will be very difficult for all those people who are probably dumbfounded (and not in a good way) by this, to forget they were barking with great confidence no later than last week, that S and C will NEVER DO ANYTHING ELSE TOGETHER, that SHE WAS WAY OVER OL AND THAT PEASANT, that HE WILL DISAPPEAR INTO ALCOHOLIC OBLIVION AND SHE WILL OH, THE PLACES SHE'LL GO ON HER OWN. I saw a 'Me & V' post, so I wanted to join in.

I'm not entirely sure how to explain it, but ever since I was a child, I’ve always chosen a male avatar when playing video games, whether I was playing was Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, or Cyberpunk. I’ve tried starting countless games with female avatars, but I always struggled to feel immersed. I found it much easier to relate to a male character.

Interestingly, it was Cyberpunk that really made me start questioning why that is and why I never felt fully comfortable in my own skin. It’s not that I ever hated being born female. I actually enjoy many feminine aspects about myself, as well as feminine clothing and makeup. But deep down, I’ve always wished I had been born in a male body. The more I reflected on this, the more I began to understand that I think I’m genderqueer, because I feel a connection to both genders. (Or does that mean I’m non-binary?)

And btw "body type 1/2" instead of "male/female" is meaningless if your "body type" still determines how everyone refers to you. You're still just picking a binary gender but with a different coat of paint

Some users on PC have an issue where the Oblivion Remaster shader compilation is not completing.

The game may crash during shader compilation and if you relaunch the game, you can play, but stutters and FPS issues will be worse than if you had successfully compiled shaders. Shader compilation cannot be automatically re-ran so you need to force your PC to restart the compilation.

Here are the steps I took to "fix" this issue:

1. Roll back your Nvidia GPU drivers to 572.83

If you have an AMD GPU, I believe AMD released an updated driver for Oblivion Remastered that should mean no driver rollback is needed.

2. Delete your shader cache via the Disk cleanup windows program

3. Cut/paste this file OUT of this folder path:

steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\Engine\Plugins\Marketplace\nvidia\DLSS\Streamline\Binaries\ThirdParty\Win64\sl.pcl.dll

I personally dropped it into a desktop folder so I have it saved somewhere. Just make sure this file is NOT in that folder path anymore.

4. Delete Oblivion.ini from this location:

\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Oblivion.ini

5. Open Oblivion Remastered and shader compilation should now begin.

If all went well the shader compilation should complete (may take a long time) and you should notice *some* improvements to stuttering as shader are now fully compiled.

Make sure you re select your graphics settings as they will have reverted to default. See below for my personal settings and performance notes. 👇

Next part is how I personally went from ~40fps outdoors to a solid 60fps average with occasional dips to 50fps at the lowest.

Caveat I have a high end PC, play on a 4k TV and don't play above 60fps. Your Milage may vary as everyone has their own hardware setup and graphical preferences.

---

1. Make sure your game is installed on SSD. Game just runs alot better on SSD and even warns you to make sure its installed on one.

2. FPS lock/VSync. If you need Vsync to play games like I do. Turn OFF the in-game VSYNC and force VSYNC ON in Nvidia control panel. IDK how AMD gpus work but id imagine you'd use AMDs version of control panel to do the same.

Set the FPS limit to 60fps (or whatever your preference) in the in-game settings. This can also be done instead in the Nvidia control panel so if you set the limit there, be sure to NOT have a limit set in-game settings.

3. DLSS of some kind is a must for most games these days. Especially if playing with Ray Tracing (as you can note below)

Set DLSS to either performance (looks worse, runs better), Quality (looks better, runs a bit worse), or DLAA (looks alot better but most performance hit out of all DLSS settins).

Use FSR if you are on an AMD GPU.

4. DLSS Frame Generation. This literally will give you like 10+ FPS. BUUUTT it gives you CRAZY input lag. Make sure if you use this you also set NVIDIA Reflex to Enabled+Boost. For me this game me the free 10+fps while eliminating the input lag almost entirely.

Note: If you use Frame Generation you will notice the menus in-game have a weird flutter/lag. Beyond this tho the issues are minimal.

If you use AMD GPUs make sure to use the FSR/FSR Frame Generation/XeSS options as these are AMDs versions of the NVIDIA options i discussed above

I know alot of ppl play on different hardware in general so to summarize the graphics settings:

Turn off VYSNC in game and force it via your GPU control panel. Use frame generation and DLSS/FSR as specified above. If your settings don't give you the performance you want, roll them back bit by bit.

ALSO: This may be relevant but as a precaution, make any major graphics settings changes *FROM THE MAIN MENU* After you make the changes, exit and restart the game. Sometimes the changes don't work if you make them while you have a save loaded + don't restart the game.

Hope this all helps at least somebody out there. Send asks or DM if you need any clarification, and remember, Milage may vary so experiment with your settings as needed.

Topic: This week, Sujamma wants to know about YOUR OC's special someone. What makes their relationship special? How did they meet? Were they enemies to lovers? Lovers to enemies? Lovers AND Enemies? Are they romantic or platonic? What's their favorite way to cuddle? Favorite date night? Anything and everything you can think of 💕

Elikar is aroace like me c: I have a potential idea of a QPR with Serana. But that's an underdeveloped idea right now.

So I guess I'll ramble a little about Lilliandra. Romance isn’t a thing that she thinks about in a partner necessarily, it's usually just what she can get out of the relationship. She’s also more the type to obsess if anything. (She's a villian protag, is it really a surprise her relationships are fucked?)

We've got Cinnara, Talserion, and Miraak. I'll be short with the first two. I don't wanna spoil everything.

Cinnara

She’s the first love, the first Lilli latched onto and refused to let go. (Until she had no choice but to let go)

They've known each other since they were little girls. She enjoys the attention, the love from her. There’s something so addicting, seeing the change in her smile as she looks from a person to Lilli, the way it lights up differently. (Yet this doesn’t stop Lilli's eyes from roaming elsewhere.)

Around Cinnara, Lilli hides the worst parts of her. Around her, she can act with (and feel) some semblance of normalcy. She doesn’t know any of the terrible things Lilli does and thinks, and she doesn’t need to. 

With her, there’s comfort, nostalgia. To her, she’s the last remnant of childhood, of innocence. When she has to let her go, she lets all that go. 

Talserion

She actually does get an arranged engagement per Altmeri traditions. To her luck, it’s at least someone she knows. Talserion was a part of the group of artisans Cinnara and she frequently hung around with. 

He loved her even before the arrangement, when she was still with Cinnara. She knew that much, he didn’t hide it well. Cinnara was actually the first to point it out. She told him to expect a loveless marriage. But she still enjoys the attention she gets from him. She also doesn't mind the (casual to her) sex. He was merely a plaything. 

Except, it was her turn to be on the end of one’s obsession. T̷h̶a̶t̶ ̸d̴i̷d̴n̸'̵t̸ ̸e̷n̴d̴ ̸w̵e̸l̸l̴ 

Miraak

Where do I begin? 

I guess I should mention that while my fic is tagged “destiny-bound lovers”, it’s more the horror aspect of that entire idea of soulmates, where all agency is taken from you, forever wondering why you gravitate towards this person (that’s why it’s not tagged as soulmates, cause that generally has positive connotations). In their Disastership post I answer “why they’re together despite it all?” with “There is no free will with destiny.”

I liken them to a binary star system, souls gravitationally bound to and in orbit around each other. (What a poetic way to say they’re stuck with each other lol)

Unlike most LDB x Miraak pairs, they met about 80 years before the start of Skyrim, when Lilliandra got her hands on a Black Book and started to frequent Apocrypha, before becoming one of Mora’s new champions. Neither of them knew she was dragonborn. (Considering Durnehviir doesn’t exactly know why he calls you dovah in game if you haven’t completed Dragon Rising, I like to imagine Miraak wouldn’t be able to know she’s Dragonborn until she absorbs a dragon soul.)

Miraak’s first thought of her was as a stupid, pretty little socialite that wouldn’t survive Apocrypha for long. 

She certainly defied his expectations. 

She was warned by ciphers to stay away from the First Servant given his history of blackmailing them into doing dangerous things. That gave the opposite effect, instead making her interested. (Poor ciphers didn’t realise they were in worse trouble with her.)

In a short few years, they create a tentative alliance. At the beginning it was slightly difficult, where both of them thought they knew better than the other. “You’re too quick to act. Too reckless.” “You’re too stiff in the way you do things! Think outside the box, you old bastard.” But after they get to see how surprisingly well they fight together during their first dive into the Infinite Archive, how their strengths and weaknesses overlap in a way that compliments them, they gain a bit of respect with the other. (Lilli gains an obsession over him being dragonborn because she's been researching for years the more auditory magic: thaumavocalism and tonal architecture, and the thu'um falls into the category.)

Mutual respect gives way to an odd friendship. They manage to inspire the other. Miraak finds it frighteningly odd, to be able to trust her of all people after millennia in Apocrypha. Lilli tries not to think about why, but she enjoys how easy it is to simply be her real self with him. Where Cinnara knew only a projected image of Lilli, Miraak has seen her depravity.

But make no mistake, these two idiots have no issues bullying each other. Lilliandra enjoys testing boundaries, excessively. Sometimes for shits and giggles, other times just cause she's a sadomasochist and wants to see what it takes for him to retaliate. Miraak invites himself into her study whenever he wants to see if she has any tangible ideas.

Despite all this, they're somewhat protective of the other. (don't ask them why. They'll deny it) Lilli will not tolerate anyone speaking ill of Miraak - she's quick to vicious anger, making the party that spoke ill to greatly regret it. Miraak feels petty jealousy if Lilli speaks of her partners on Nirn.

Later in the story, an experiment Lilli was working on badly explodes, leaving her partially deaf in her left ear and a blind spot in her left eye. Despite berating her the entire time, he's the one that heals her, staying with her as she recovers from the shock. Neither of them talk about how he naturally walks on her left side afterwards, or how Lilli tries to keep everyone else on her right side.

Hmm, cuddles? It started as Lilli just trying to annoy him by testing boundaries. If he was in the common area of the tower, sitting on the couch reading, she'd flop herself onto the couch, with her head in his lap. For the first several times she's done this, he'd push her off the couch entirely, enjoying the thud she'd make when falling to the floor. Then one day he just gave in (no, don't you dare suggest it's because he's starved for her touch). She fell asleep like that, showing a surprising amount of vulnerability and trust. It somehow became a habit that neither of them talked about. (shush, maybe he did enjoy running his fingers through her hair.)

Not even two weeks out and already more than 1600 mods on Nexus.. not bad for a game where mods are not officially supported.

That said, wrapping a nearly 20 years old game in a new skin comes with challenges. To begin with, there are many places you can install mod files into - the old Data folder for esp, the ~mods folder for Unreal Engine game changes, the mods folders for OBSE and US4SS script engines, the binary folder for Reshade and other dlls... this is a bit of a mess.

Some of my must have mods so far:

Reshade of course, and CYRODILIC in particular as a base

Denser Foliage - for grass that doesn't look like a well manicured lawn

Simple Oblivion Remastered plugin manager - to update that pesky plugins.txt file

Simple Dog Follower - Clancy - why does Oblivion give you followers only at high levels, when you don't need their help anymore? Clancy fixes that.. and he is a very good boy.

Immersive Difficulty - because I got tired of 'bullet sponge' enemies (40 arrows to kill a wolf? really?)

Ascension Remastered - Vanilla-Plus Loot and Balance - for gameplay tweaks

Climates Revised - for more diverse weather patterns

Universal Achievement Unblocker

A More Complete World Map - 4K colored map

SkyMarkers - Compass and World Map Markers Redone - those triangular markers would look good in Morrowind but they feel out of place in Cyrodiil

Friendly Animals - so you don't end up with a long line of murderous mudcrabs right out of the sewers.

I managed to get up to doing art this week again! I'd love to get a proper reference sheet done for Veryn before the TES Gala commences, so that's part of what I started working on! First time I've used the Clip Studio 3-d model as a base.

Going from sketch to lines to WIP colour. I'm not 100% sold on the lines yet - I feel like I should add more weight to 'em at points? They don't quite feel right yet.

And as a bonus, sketches for three more outfits: Veryn newly arrived in Morrowind, Veryn traveling the ashlands in chitin armour and a dust mask, Veryn as Nerevarine wearing fancier clothes, and Veryn wearing full on noble Telvanni ceremonial regalia.
