Last year, I did a little end of the year recap of what the most featured Vocaloids and Producers on this blog were, and so here's one for this past year, too!

Since the last one was the first ever one I did, I just posted the overall numbers for this blog; this time, I'll be doing a top 10 Vocaloids and list of all producers with 3+ songs featured for 2024 specifically, and then you can check under the read more to see an update of the all time rankings for all vocal synths, and the 15 overall most featured producers on this blog so far (including ties).

Year in Review: A Look Back at 2024 on Blerdy Otome

Not an ask for the critters but for the mod running this ask-blog:

I’ve seen this blog a lot recently but I’m prettyyy late to the party so I’ve missed a lot. Could you give a small summary to catch me up on whats happening please? Thankss !!^^

Oh of course! Buckle up it’s a bit of a long story-

So basically it started with Hoppy finding a monitor with communications to the outside world inside of the councilors office back at Playcare. At that point, she was open for questioning. She was leaving the councilors office when she was attacked by Picky. She managed to run back to the cable car in time, but not before loosing her foot. Inside of the cable car, one of the anons (a friend and I call them static anon) made a deal with her that in exchange for gaining her foot back, Picky would know where she was at all times and would be able to hunt her down. Once that deal was made, Picky was open for questioning. Once Hoppy left Playcare via cable car, she headed to an employee’s break room, where she, Bobby and Crafty had been staying at. Bobby scolded her for leaving without telling her and was open for questioning. She then found out Picky was hunting Hoppy, so they grabbed Crafty (who was then open for questioning) and left. Meanwhile with Picky, she had just got off the cable car when she was met with Kickin. He revealed that he followed her by flying behind the cable car due to CatNap ordering him to bring Picky back. Picky refused and continued on her search, so Kickin followed her. It was also revealed on the cable car ride that Picky believed DogDay had abandoned them all in cold blood, sparking her hatred for him. It was later also revealed that awhile ago and before anyone had left Playcare, after Picky had taken a few nibbles out of Bubba while unconscious, Hoppy didn’t tell her that she, Bobby and Crafty were planning to leave Playcare. That also made Picky pretty much hate her as well. Hoppy also tried to get Kickin to come with them, but he refused, claiming it was too dangerous and insisting she stay behind. Eventually, Kickin ended up informing CatNap of their escape plan, who ripped off Hoppy’s ear and gave it to Kickin as a reward. Picky ended up eating the ear. While all this was happening, Bubba was in a coma due to an overdose from the red smoke. When he woke up awhile later, he wasn’t able to function properly, so Kickin has been taking care of him since. Got a bit off track- sorry it’s my ADHD lmfao.

So basically going back to Picky’s search, she eventually crossed paths with Hoppy, Bobby and Crafty. Before Kickin could even do anything, Crafty smacked him in the head with the monitor, knocking him out. It was a bit of a fight until Hoppy and Bobby managed to get Picky knocked out as well. They brought them back to their home and tied them up, before Bobby realized Crafty was missing. She left to go find her and Hoppy was left alone with Picky and Kickin, who were now awake. It was around this time Kickin was open for questioning. I think I forgot to mention that Crafty had her arms off for trying to attack CatNap for red paint. Crafty had been made a deal by Static Anon that if she injured another bigger body by taking their arms, she’d be able to get her own arms back. So she was heading to the Game Station to do so. She ran into Mommy Long Legs, who is currently taking care of her.

Bobby followed her to the Game Station but ran into Baby Long Legs. Baby brought her to Daddy Long Legs, who revealed that he hadn’t participated in the Hour of Joy. Bobby revealed that she had, and as of current in the story, Daddy is insisting that he does not want anything to do with her.

Back to Hoppy, Kickin and Picky. Kickin managed to trick Hoppy into freeing him and overpowered her. He revealed that he had a plan to bring her and the monitor back to CatNap in exchange for DogDay’s freedom. Forgot to mention that Kickin ran into DogDay in the Playhouse, and got blinded in one eye as punishment. Kickin keeps insisting that Hoppy won’t be harmed because CatNap will want her loyalty. Both Picky and Hoppy think his plan is the stupidest thing they’ve ever heard of. Picky is going along with it because she wants to see Hoppy suffer. Hoppy is pretty sure she’s going to die. She managed to convince Kickin into not handing the monitor over to CatNap yet, but that was the best she was able to do. Right now, they’re on the cable car and headed back to Playcare, and Hoppy has lost basically all chance of escape.

*collapses* I DID NOT REALIZE HOW MUCH THAT WAS GOD DAMN-

Edit: Okay gang we got some more stuff now-

Anyways so Kickin made a deal that any pain Hoppy feels he will feel too. After that, the cable car landed in Playcare. Catnap was waiting (not so) patiently for their arrival, and immediately scruffed Hoppy and carried her away before Kickin could explain why the hell she was there in the first place. Of course, this causes him to freak out because oh my god Hoppy might actually die now because CatNap has no context, but you know 😋

Anyways so CatNap brought Hopster to the prototype, who basically said “nah, this one sucks, I can’t do anything with her. Do whatever you want Idc” so CatNap scratched her and gassed her. He also named dropped her-her names Rebecca-and no, not like the stupid bunny from Peppa Pig. Also Kickin got injured from that scritchy scratch too because of that deal FYI.

Back to our favorite bear and unicorn- well Daddy Long Legs sorta insulted Bobby’s entire bloodline and then so she stormed out bc she was mad, and immediately yelled for Mommy to show herself and give Crafty back to her. She came down and did give Crafty back, but refused to let them leave, even though Bobby is aware Hoppy is in danger. So yeahhhh, girly is kinda stuck lmfaooo

Okay hopefully I remember all of this. So CatNap put Hoppy under Kickin’s surveillance. Birdbrains flew her up to a nest that he had made on one of the fake Playcare clouds. There they had a little fight and Kickin went a bit wack, before he took a step away to go grab the monitor. While he was gone, Hoppy went through his stuff. In his stuff, she found a diary. You can read the entries right here, but be wary of the trigger warnings. So obviously she read some messed up things, and Kickin walks in on her reading it. He screams at her and basically kicks her out and makes Picky watch her instead. Both of them are grumpy about it and they are passive aggressive messes towards each other. Picky locks Hoppy inside of a room in Home Sweet Home, not wanting to risk her escaping and getting her ass whooped. Kickin’s just up on his nest crying his white girl tears.

Okay now with Bobby and Crafty. Mommy kinda sorta threw them in a room and locked the door, saying she’ll be back. Bobby and Crafty freak out and are just kinda talking, before someone mysterious (it was kissy missy lol) unlocks the door and just leaves. Crafty picks up some papers that she found on the desk that look important before following Bobby out the door. While they’re walking, Bobby gets a deal. Rip off either Baby, Daddy, or Mommy Long Leg’s hands and Crafty will get her hands back. Of course Bobby doesn’t want to do this, and so Crafty cutely insults her entire bloodline. Anyways then Kissy Missy finds them and tells them to follow her. Crafty asks them to take them to where Baby or Daddy are and Bobby is like hell no and Crafty is like yeah well we’re going anyways. I’ll update this when there’s more I prommy 😋

After that came a bunch of other asks, mostly headcanons and cursed asks and occasionally some weirdo who would draw them pregnant. What a disgusting and deranged person amirite?

Somehow the mods addooted @paincaat as their art hoe and the icon they use was drawn by them. The cursed cat nun alastor one and now paincaat is trapped in their basement.

The mods aren't all serious though, they've had theur fair share of cursed posts and even more cursed replies. Occasionally they'll drop mod lore which lulu the menace keeps track of

At some point the mods both watched helluva together and it also turned into partly a helluva blog but at that point the amount of asks they get was so large that they couldn't keep up. They started posting less frequently, not only because of that but they're busy irl (i know right? How dare they)

They made a joke out of it by changing their icon and user to priestvox for a week (i think?) and starting the hostage era in which nunalastor was missing. This was purely a joke though. Paincaat also was forced to make an icon set in which cursed cat nun alastor slowly creeped in on the priestvox icon and ate it

Theb local menace buckshot turned up to the blog medically analyzing alastors death and started a whole genre of just asks for buckshot. And now we're here

Hey everyone! So recently I've been going back through my posts in order to make a better ordered list for myself of what songs I've already featured, and because of that, I also started putting together some information about what Vocaloids and Producers have been featured on this blog the most so far! It was fun putting this together, so I figured I'd post the information as a little end-of-the year style thing!

Some of the exact numbers may be sliiiightly off, but they should be pretty close. And the numbers here are up to date through the song posted today (December 31st).

I'm hoping to start doing this as an annual thing, with updates to the rankings at the end of the year.

Also: as a quick secondary update- I have decided that this blog will start to feature songs using vocal synths of any kind, not just Vocaloid-specific songs. I still intend for Vocaloid characters to make up the majority of songs featured here (and I currently have a long queue lined up that still has only Vocaloids in it), but I will start to add other synths into the mix, and song suggestions are now open for solos featuring non-Vocaloid synths!

S5 Part 51: Name Stuff

Hello, I did not die! Though don’t get me wrong, a mix of lingering long covid that gets me the flu every other week (I think I’ve had the flu well over 30 times last year, it’s been nuts) as well as other life obligations took me away from the blog for a bit. Which, I know, is a grand sweeping understatement for how long it's been.

But, what better balm than to discuss an old anime my bro and I finished like over a year ago and I’m only remembering distantly, like fondly revisiting high school. Except I’ll be real I did not go to my high school reunions. But revisit Yugioh? Of course I will!

In my absence, my computer died, and I had to move everything. A lot of files were corrupted, but mysteriously, not Yugioh. My computer destroyed hours and hours of client work and maybe hundreds of hours of personal project work and etc that I actually needed for a deadline, but it didn’t touch my Yugioh files because it knows better. lmao.

So while my memory is shady at best, last we left off, Yami had just been slammed dunked by the Kaiju that is Bakura that also has an appendage shaped like a dragon on a phallus. It was embarrassing for everyone.

So Yugi and company appeared, having just recently dug through the tomb that has Yami’s name and the ability to stick Zorc back whence he came.

You may wonder, if it took like 12 weeks to get to that tomb, how are we just flying through the air back to the capital? And the answer is because they spent most of that 12 weeks like barely moving around the city. It was, in fact, the racist genie who flew them there. Flying is just hellllllla efficient in Egypt geography. Don't worry about it.

Zorc/Bakura threatens them with these horse guys. Which like, I have to credit the animation team, that is a lot of animated horses in one frame, I would also reuse this clip of horses running like 8 times in a season.

Unless these horses got wings, give your hands a break and don’t draw (counts them) my god, there’s 6 horses here. 

This is such a season of excessive extravagance except where you actually need it. Which…is a lot of media in this era (looking at you, Kingdom Hearts) so I just have to accept these horses in plate mail that were done on company time, while the whirlwind whiplash of Yami’s ending of this season is just kinda left there hanging.

Yeah we’re gonna talk about that ending. Don’t worry this is the episode where I can finally start talking about the dead as hell and only getting deader elephant in the room. (I can’t believe he freakin died lmao what the hell, Yugioh.)

With the power of manifesting their thoughts into reality, they will play cards. Because that’s how these kids know how to communicate and solve all of their problems.

2004 Rachel would have said, if I had the power to use the last magical vestiges of the world as we know it to make whatever with a string of words, I would do something way more impressive than play a card game I can just do with physical cards. 

But 2024 Rachel knows all about how, when we finally had the technology to spit images together from a prompt, we immediately used it to break copyright law and ruin the ability to thrive and compete in the art industry so Rachel had to pull a new career out of her ass. No fun allowed. No creativity allowed. Only fake promises to encourage angel investors to get scammed of all their dollars before the technology eventually bursts its own bubble and disappears from relevance when not enough people actually use it.

So really, Seto Kaiba using the power of prompts to play cards means he’s the only venture capitalist to have ever existed that has done some actual creativity using AI-like tech. Sure it's database is unethical because it is made out of the souls of an entire city, but he would have at least turned that AI into a dragon he already owns full copyright of (because hell we know all about how well he paid Pegasus for the right to that art) and he would have used it to fight Zorc, just as god(s) intended.

Wow none of that rant made sense. I’ll delete it later. (jk, I won’t, I really need to post this thing)

Fueled with the power of “I don’t want to admit to Pharaoh that I’m illiterate,” Yugi fights Zorc with all he’s got. 

Relatable. I forgot how relatable this kid is.

Does Yugi ever realize he’s murdering the Bakura he's known a majority of this show? I…I don’t remember. Probably? Yugi probably knows, but is also like "there's enough doubt to ethically continue this fight"

They scoop up Yami, and today’s designated prone body carrier is:

Joey!

Good choice.

Their reaction to “Seto is here in this imaginary magical mind maze.” Is a lot of “Huh. Not even remotely surprised.”

I have a friend who has this thing about always wanting to go inside places she’s not allowed into. She even decided to take magic lessons from the Magic Castle. Why? Because she wants to go IN THERE. Seto is basically that friend. Except everything but taking magic lessons because he does not believe in magic or enjoy magic in any way (despite being a very competent wizard). We all have a friend who just appears in random places like Seto.

Faced with the ironic problem that has plagued them for over 5 seasons, They decide to use the airport cartouche that you may not remember from like 2 years ago when I wrote that episode. But once upon a time, Tea gave Yami a Girlfriend Gift, and so with the power of Vague Girlfriend, she’s gonna save his ass.

Seto realizes that despite everything, he is still here, and somehow despite all of that, Yugi is still getting his ass beaten by whatever the monster of the week is.

I’m also not 100% if Seto is aware that this monster is actually the ghost that lived in Bakura, his old classmate from that school Seto never graduated from, and his old classmate that once stabbed himself in the arm and then walked directly into his blimp to ruin his blimp party.

But Seto doesn't need to worry about whether or not this is ethical, he'd probably only try to kill him harder if he knew Bakura was ever in his class.

That’s right, his name is Atem. Which I personally found out in like Season 1 because this show is very old and people online like to use his name in the tags. But also, it’s fine, because Atem is close to that name Aten, which is in Egyptian Theology, or Puzzles and Dragons, whichever you are more familiar with. I’ll look it up later when my brain isn’t fried. Maybe.

Pharaoh used his name once already in the past in order to stuff both Zorc and himself in their charms. That’s pretty straight forward. So…why isn’t it doing it again? As far as I can tell this is a recreation of what happened last time, so what's changed to prevent Pharaoh from getting put back in the golden tupperware?

The shadow game? Is it because this is a shadow D+D game? Was it not a type of shadow game the first time? I genuinely don't know, feel free to give your opinion about this because my bro and I discussed this in length, several times over this year, I have mulled it over, and I have no clue.

Pharaoh knows himself even less now than he did the first time he did this. Maybe the show is implying he’s more powerful this time but…this season really didn't build him up enough to seem that way.

And on that note, what does it matter if he finds his real name? Like yes there’s theological meaning there, especially in ancient cultures your real name had an actual power over your soul and so people respected it enough to even avoid using it.

But, Pharaoh hasn't been Atem in 5000 years, so Yami should have worked. Yami is connected to the puzzle and it's curse now. So is Yugi. So they never really properly gave us the significance of why this name is important. Like hell, why not just use "Yugi." He's wearing the necklace IRL, after all.

I can see the name being less of a symbolism and more of a key, since it was used to lock the puzzle the first time. But then…what are they using to lock Zorc away the second time? Still Atem?

Atem stuffed himself into a box and died. Yami lived in Japan and failed to attend high school. While there are similarities between the two, something I enjoyed about this season was seeing Yami realize he is different from Atem, with a different culture, different friends, different family, different guilt, and different responsibilities.

He’s a different person now. But for some reason the resolution to that was “actually, now Atem and I are one."

Which wasn’t enough for me. I think they could have handled this better. Yami going from a fragmented person to a full person by struggling with who he used to be was a great idea. That parallels Yugi/Yami's struggles with eachother in earlier seasons.

But Yugi just handing him some hieroglyphics was all Yugi’s doing. Yami spent his time finding his lost memories of his father and his friends. I feel like Yami never found himself in all of this. Just a name he isn't really attached to.

Not saying this season is bad or anything, cuz it's not, but some things could have been elaborated more cuz even if I didn't have long covid I think I would've been a little bit confused.
